Friendly reminder all trans men/trans masc folks aren't white & skinny "quirky" teens.
Not all trans masc people want to dress feminine and that's okay.
Not all trans masc people have "silly" interests like frogs, mushrooms, & sharks, and that's okay.
Not all trans masc people have fluffy, dyed hair, and that's okay.
Not all trans masc people bind their chest or want to, and that's okay.
Not all trans masc people experience gender dysphoria, and that's okay.

"I'm a little tired of people headcanoning Donnie as Autistic and Asexual. I get it, I'm autistic and asexual, but people insisting that the "word of god" confirmed autistic character doesn't experience sexual attraction is infantilizing (and less important, but Donnie canonically has crushes on multiple female characters, he's literally the only character with a confirmed attraction, but people just can't be normal about autistic characters I guess)."

Lila glared at Marinette as she complained to Alya about something boring; she was sure of it. She could see the frustration radiating off the baker's daughter. Marinette put her head in her hands from something Alya voiced. The daughter of the bakers lifted her hand and shook them in front of her, as she continued to complain.
'How dare she!'
"Are you mocking me?" Lila questioned, walking up towards them.
"Huh?" Marinette asked, confused, turning to Lila.
"You were doing this" the Italian girl lifted her hands, towards her and shook them, "when you talk."
Marinette giggled, "Really? I never noticed."
"You totally do." Alya commented and then winced, "Mostly when you get frustrated and trying to get your point across."
"Marinette, it's really insensitive of you to make fun of me and my heritage." Lila whined.
"What are you-" Mari began.
"It's an Italian thing." the model explained.
Marinette shrugged, "I probably get it from my Nona then."
"Your what?" Lila demanded.
"My Nona." Marinette repeated.
"You're not Italian!" Lila shouted.
Adrien quickly situated himself besides Marinette, "Technically, she's a quarter Italian. We've all met her Nona at her birthday, last year. You'd like her a lot, Lila. You have so many things in common."
Marinette smiled, "My Nona travels all year long. She goes to exotic places and lives with the natives. Usually, she sends me gifts from her travels."
"When is she coming back?" Adrien questioned.
"She's been coming back for my birthdays, now. Last time, she thought I was still three years old and wasn't sure how to deal with me being grown up. Most of the time we just talk on the phone." Mari answered.
"This one time, I went to the Sahara Desert and-"began Lila.
"That's nice, Lila." Adrien interrupted, "Marinette, where did your Nona go this time?"
Marinette chewed her lower lip for a moment, "I think the Amazon. She likes to go there a lot. Surprising, really; she usually has her bike with her."
"I've been to the Amazon Jungle." Lila smiled, "There's plenty of room for bicycles."
"Bike as in motorcycle." Adrien stated, making the liar falter and then turned back to Marinette, "I've seen you on your Nona's. Do you know how to ride a motor-"
"I do!" Lila chimed in.
"No one asked you!" Adrien declared, "I'm trying to talk to Marinette, but you keep interrupting us! This is an A and B conversation. C your way out of it!"
Adrien grabbed Marinette's hand and pulled her out of the classroom. Before Lila could complain, the class began to cheer.
"It was so great of you to pretend to be jealous!"
"You actually made Adrien take Marinette somewhere alone!"
"I never thought you would annoy him in the best way possible!"
"We should have kept them apart sooner!"
"Yeah!"
"Who knew Adrien was the jealous type."
"Great thinking, Lila."
Lila could only smile, as everyone praised her. Meanwhile, she was screaming internally. She had come out looking like a person who was helping Adrien and Marinette get together. That was the last thing she wanted to happen!

Ultimately, I like many things, so I’m bound to get a lot of points. I mean, who doesn’t like lemon bars, and leather jackets and denim jackets and hoodies? If you’re like me and just love so many things, you’re bound to fit some stereotypes

Hi. I'm a twin and I hate when authors write twins inaccurately or people make incorrect assumptions about us, so I made this post.
We are two different people. Do not assume twins are clones of each other. We have different interests and styles, despite having a lot in common.
We also have physical subtle differences. I am a different height than my twin and our face shapes are slightly different.
We cannot feel each others pain and we cannot read each other's minds. I also do not know where she is all the time. I do not have a GPS built in my head specifically to pinpoint where she is at all times. Yes, we have a very deep emotional connection and bond but we do not have super powers.
We do not know what the other is going to say. Occasionally, we accidentally say the same thing at the same time, but we cannot predict what the other will say.
We do not fit into the stupid boxes you want to put us in. There is no "good" or "evil" twin. There is no "smarter" twin. Do not compare twins in this way, it creates self-esteem issues (coming from the twin who was put into the "evil" and "less smart" boxes). Because I was constantly compared to and pitted against my twin, I feel like everything in my life will never measure up because she's "better than me".
We are not always attached at the hip. We can exist outside of each other. Just because I am not with my twin, does not mean there is a crisis or something is wrong. I just did not want to go to the event and she did. The first question out of your mouth when you see my sister without me, or visa versa, should not be "where is your twin?". Ask how the one in front of you is doing first. See them as an individual and not a half of a whole.
TLDR: Twins are two separate people and more authors and people need to understand this.

Do I think the writers understood the context changes that would occur when casting the Velaryons with black actors, nope, not one bit.
They cuckold a black man when it was more ambiguous in the books and then had him abandon the family he just firmly recommited too.
They make Daemon's arguably favorite wife in the books a placeholder for his preferred Valyrian bride, his white niece.
They give the very distinct twins almost the exact same personality but made space for the white girl to have a trait she didn't in the books and give one of their love interest a sweeter scene than anything they got on screen together. They also reduce them to set dressing and plot drivers, not whole characters in this world.
Back to Laena, they gave her a brutal death scene as opposed to the bitter sweet one she had in the books. Gave her friendship/ relationship/ sexual ambiguity to a white woman while reducing her to less than 20 minutes of screen time.
And back again to Laenor, they made him an absent father who only wished to be back at war. That doesn't happen in the books.
Corlys is the only one that has a good enough storyline, but next season, he'll be a cheater with an outside family without any set up other than leaving when things get hard, while adoring his wife on the show mind you.
Not to mention the brutality of Vaemond's death.
This doesn't exist in a monolith. Obviously, you can write these storylines for black characters. However, the necessary nuances needed to allow these things to work were not used.
Baela could be trying to conform for everything she believes is expected of her as Jace’s Betrothed until she is there next season with a new book authentic look.
Laena could be like her book counterpart, caring more about dragons than boys, but when she has to marry chooses the person who she thinks would give her the most freedom and work as Co parents if not being a loving couple with their children.
Laenor could do his duty despite himself and have conflicting emotions towards Rhaenyra and Harwin not putting more effort into their secret relationship. Those boys could be Laenor's still and have his own sexuality, Rhaenyra's promiscuity and Alicent’s weaponizing these little things to spread the bastard rumors. And or casting Ser Harwin to look more ambiguous.
Laena's and Vaemond's deaths should have been closer to the books to show Daemon's care for people who accept him and Rhaenyra accepting the power she is given.
There was no reason why Laena shouldn't have claimed Vhagar on screen even if they kept the shows death for her, it becomes full circle that in the moments she knows she's going to die she would cling to the thing that makes her feel complete. Her dragon. And a setup for the Dragonseeds when they claim their dragons.
I just, the idea of black dragon riders and black Valyrians, was so interesting and I wish they had given the idea the nuance it deserved instead of placing them on the back peddles and reducing their stories to stereotypes we've seen time and time again without care or thought for how it would be perceived.
Let's not begin to talk about the genetics test needed by most of the white actors they cast who are direct descendents of Alyssa Velayron.

Every Harry Potter ff ive read so far
Draco Malfoy
Oh absolutely its always a smut, you’ll never find one where it starts off with fluff, and hey, I get it. I mean it’s Draco Malfoy we’re talking abt but C’MONN MAN😭😭 its always
“He whipped it out and absolutely ABUSED THE OOSAY-“
Harry Potter
Actually has the best plot ever, y’all are creative frfr🙌 but ive seen some WITH EDGING OMGGG intense slowburns but im a sucker for them. And another thing I (not so) love abt them is that theyre always so blind to the truth. Which is they Both love each other and hermione is always written in these stories like “I can literally name countless times he evidently none hinting just straight up bluntly said; y/n I love you.” And y/ns always like “I don’t know hermione I think he’s in love with cho/Ginny instead”
“YOU DUMB MOTHERFU-“
Cedric diggory
You guys are absolutely surviving on crumbs and it SHOWS 😭 Draco is always in fhe picture one way or another, that blonde little fecker is always there lets be honest.
And again,
“HE WHIPPED IT OU-“

Really? REALLY? Another genius of marketing.
It reads: [Our] Durability [is] as long as a Basque surname.
And then a contest looking for the longest one.
This is just bullshit and another example of "ignorant and proud": Basque Long Surnames™ are compound surnames, just like Spanish compound surnames are neverending:
Espinosa de los Monteros
Fernández de Córdoba
Fernández de las Casas
The only difference is that compound Basque names are written without spaces. Compare those Spanish surnames above to Basque ones like Goiri, Agirre, Goia or Zubia. Ooooh, wait, so Basque surnames can be shorter??? Surprise, surprise!!!
This marketing campaign is stereotypical and ignorant, quite honestly.

"I really hate the rise Raph Transfem headcanon. As a trans woman myself, it feels like a caricature. A common stereotype is trans women are big and muscular which the headcanon really falls into that stereotype. Most fandom Transfem hcs do and it's so obviously made by people who are not Transfem."

Neurodivergent coding and correlations with stereotypes
Neurodivergency coding is very common both intentionally and unintentionally in media. It's important to realize what stereotypes and archetypes are rooted at least partly in neurodivergency, particularly autism.
Marcy Wu's a solid example of ambiguous unintentional coding. They read as neurodivergent because the nerd achetype is very heavily based in neurodivergency. The clumsiness, hyperfixative areas of interest, over expressiveness, social obliviousness, feeling ignored and isolated from friend groups, scientific interest, rambling, much of that was formed with autism and neurodivergency as a basis. Which isn't much of a problem in amphibia but if we look to other media often that accidental "coding"(though I don't really consider it true coding) gets used to turn a character into comic relief.
General rules of thumb for writing nerd archetypes:
-Research the origins and real life application (Honestly applies to all character archetypes)
-Nerdiness can be used for jokes but be careful not to portray most of the archetypal traits as being a laughing stock, weird, or something messed up/wrong
-Just try to be aware of how things come across
-Be extra careful writing robots
If you want to write autistic characters:
-Inexpressive, monotone, or oddly expressive does NOT equal emotionless
-Socially inept does not equal rude or not trying
-Low empathy is not the same as uncaring or low compassion, plus many with autism actually deal with mirror and hyper empathy
-Probably not a good idea to make an autistic character a morally grey mad scientist if you aren't actively researching the autistic community AND have at least one sensitivity writer if posting or publishing to a broad audience
-Do your research but note that most "charity's"(Looking at you autism speaks) don't have our best interest at heart
-Endearingly clumsy and be easy to make minimizing, just note that clumsiness can leave you with scrapes and bruises not just a comedic scene
-We aren't all friendless loners
-Research comorbidities
-We are very disportianatly gay and trans
-We have senses of humor, we just suck at picking up other people's
-Research the less commonly known traits
-We have broader ranges of morality than for science. In fact while our morals tend to be different than non autistic people we tend to hold to our morals a lot stronger than others
-Be careful not to write us as inspiration porn for neurotypical people
-Non speaking, hyper verbal, and semi speaking are often fluctuating traits. I'm physically incapable of speech at times, have a speech impediment, and almost all A's. Intelligence and how good we are at academics doesn't correlate much with whether or not we can talk at all or well(A lot of autistic people struggle with academics and being non speaking is disproportionately met with people with IDs, which is fine. Very belatedly in hindsight I realize that was poorly phrased. Sorry.)
-HYPERSENSITIVY IS A BISH
-Most of the community doesn't want to be fixed or have a cure, just be accepted and have the world recognize we have different needs than others
-We don't just lean towards math and robotics, all the sciences and creative fields tend to be quite alluring. Also we don't all like the same things
-STIMMING, STIMMING, STIMMING!!!
-Stop making us either have zero agency or only villains/morally grey
-Please PLEASE be careful not to infantilize us

Are we failing?
As we wrap up our discussion and reading of Under the Udala Trees I am reminded through this story of the issues we as a society, as a whole, as a world face. I mention in my paper, “ This isn’t just a story but a reflection of what is happening around us. How do we fix it? Can we fix it? Where do we begin?” This quote helps in reflecting on that, in my opinion. There are so many stories in the world of those who have struggled the same way Ijeoma has. As a society, we tend to feed stereotypes. This quote generated new questions, as a society do we owe it to ourselves to make the necessary changes or continue feeding into the stereotypes? Are we as a society failing each other and ourselves by becoming the real victim of our own doing?
