Im done with my lightlark 3 text! I've been very unwell but hope to film soon, bc the goal is to be out by xmas!

In the meantime I've been thinking about how much Lightlark does not like women (who aren't isla). There are three kinds of women in lightlark:

Higher or equal status to Isla, AKA "evil bitches who betray": Cleo, Aurora/Celeste, Lark, Poppy and Terra. That snake who eats babies goes here.

Lesser status to Isla, AKA "worships her as a literal savior": Maren, Ella, Sairsha. Maren and Sairsha also betray her somewhat while still worshipping her, they are also the only Normal People with vague social reform goals (who look to Isla to lead them)

Slightly lower but near status to Isla AKA "Non threatening and efficient support": Enya (lesbian), Astria (Cousin), Wren (old). The oracles go here (trapped in ice to disperse plot mcguffins).

There aren't any other women in lightlark beyond isla's dead mom (willimgly died, to benefit isla) and violet (nothing known beyond hooking up with Aurora’s BF and prompting her evil turn)

the Batfamily Bet

the running Gotham joke that Bruce Wayne and Batman have an adoption war going to see how many kids they can keep. But it's actually a cover.

Batman picks up the kids from crime fighting. And if they can't make the cut for sidekick, he sends them to Bruce. It's like witness protection, because if they're in the spotlight, they aren't dead.

Bruce comes from old money. He knows about networking, childhood friendships going into business deals and alliances. The guy may play dumb but he's got a tight hold on his company.

it starts with Richard Grayson. Both of them wanted custody. Batman because he doesn't particularly trust rich people, and Bruce because - hey it's a guy in a Batsuit that scares people. But they work together to bring Tony Zucco down and Dick settles in well after that.

And Batman shows up with a kid named Robin and Dick likes having a friend and Bruce goes "huh". Ok. We are parent friends now. It's why Bruce funds Batman and later the Justice League. Any kids that need vigilante level protection goes to Wayne.

If anyone actually asks, though. If he can prove that the "worst" (subjective) kids can be supported and become good, then Batman will have to pull his punches.

Did you notice that all of the Wayne kids get jumpy when you mention superheroes? That they always are aware of what the local vigilantes are doing, even if they deny it? Their eclectic knowledge? The frustrated looks when the Batfam is rescuing hostages? There's a low level sibling rivalry going on right under everyone's noses.

Bruce Wayne and Batman are co-parenting really well and no one is surprised when Damian Wayne crossed the family line and showed up as Robin.

Now is the time I point out something I've kept to myself since not long after the game's release... I'm pretty sure Papyrus is the only monster who is never shown to have white "pupils." For most monsters, they "go out" when defeated, befpre they turn to dust. The Dreemurs are weird cases but they still show white pupils when struck mortal blows. NOT PAPYRUS! P.S. Gryftrot's are in a bonkers place, BUT THEY STILL BLINK!

Yoooo but seriously that is an impressive observation of something so subtle.. It definitely needs to be investigated to -most importantly- add to Papyrus's level of mysteriousness, and see what it means. HMMM.

MIL tried to pull a Classic MIL Manipulation Maneuver and I spotted her game a mile away, told E “hey this feels a lot like the time she did A and B and also see exhibits C-Z so uhhh be careful” and I was shamed for being so suspicious of people but it turns out I was absolutely correct yet somehow I am still the bad person for pointing out the bullshit while the person who pulled the bullshit is fine.
