MONSTER HIGH G3 IS NOT AS INCLUSIVE AS MONSTER HIGH G1

Maybe that sounds crazy. Maybe it's been said a million times. Anyway, I'm just ranting about my 3 am thoughts.

I know in G3 we have non-binary Frankie (who also has a prosthetic leg), and the Draculaura doll is more curvy. But as far as I'm concerned, they took everything else that made Monster High inclusive.

For starters, and I know it was never actually confirmed, but still, Clawdeen is lesbian (bisexual at best). Once again, it was never confirmed, but in my opinion is a theory popular enough for the Monster High management to hear about it.

If they really wanted to make it more inclusive, why did they not confirm Clawdeen sexuality and give her a female romantic interest?

No, they had to break up one of their best couples. This leads me to my next point, what the fuck are Cleo and Deuce doing being separated?

The first G1 dolls literally came as a package. If you got one, you got the other. That's how much of an obvious couple they were. And not only that, in the Boo York movie, they broke up for like five minutes before realizing they didn't want to be without each other.

Which, in my opinion, it's so fucking cute because they come from completely different worlds. Cleo is royalty, Deuce is just a normal guy. Cleo is a little too superficial, and Deuce looks like he never showers. But they love each other and that's enough.

And you know who else loved each other and that was enough? Clawd and Draculaura. What do you even mean with "Clawd likes Cleo"? That man was in love with Draculaura, that man would've done anything for her, and you're telling me they also broke them apart?

Especially since they made Draculaura curvy, it would've been beautiful to see them together. Because it would've been a great plot point to have jock, almost-bully Clawd evolve into falling in love with curvy, smart, witchy Draculaura. But no, they just separated them.

On a completely different note. What the fuck is Gil doing without his tank? Do I even have to explain why this is taking inclusivity out of the Monster High concept? He couldn't live without his tank outside the water. Ergo, he was limited without his tank. If you ask me, this is Monster High equivalent to something like hearing aids (and this is just an example, there are many other things you could compare Gil's tank to)

Also, Ghoulia talking bothers me a lot. First of all, she was the smartest of the group, but we couldn't understand what she was saying, which added a lot of comedy since us, the spectators, were only pretending to know what the fuck Ghoulia's plan was. And I repeat, she was the smartest of the group.

The smartest of the group couldn't communicate like everyone else. I won't even explain why that is fascinating in itself, because it just is and it added so much depth to whole story. And to add more to my problem with G3 Ghoulia, why is she standing straight and walking at a regular speed?

Ghoulia standing like a zombie was, again, to me, a form of inclusivity to all the kids out there who had some walking impediment, or, in general, had any chronic illness that stopped them from moving around. And her walking slow as fuck was just straight-up funny (especially that one web episode where she got a motorcycle).

There's a lot of things I do like about G3, as I think it improves the brand in wonderful ways, but they definitely took some of the most essential things that made Monster High what it was.

ACOTAR Completely Fell Off After Book Two

- A popular opinion

I've said it before and I'll say it again, book five is unmitigated bullshit. Everyone's personality got fucked except Nes and Cas. Like, come on, Feyre becomes a nobody, Rhys becomes an asshole, Amren attempts to convince Rhys to take over the fucking world, and Mor in implied to be jealous of Nesta. What??? She's jealous that Nes is hooking up with Cassian??? Why? On so many levels that makes no sense, and Maas never goes anywhere with it.

Book one was strong, book one could function as a stand-alone. Book two was also strong, if and only if book three was strong too and delivered on the expectations, loose ends, and unanswered questions book two had left us with. Spoiler alert, it didn't.

The King of Hybern is a shallow, one-dimensional antagonist. I've met Disney villains with more justification, Marvel villains with more backstory. Naruto gave me better antagonists than ACOTAR. Rhys does some questionable shit in this book. Amren dying and then undying with no explanation takes all the meaning and weight out of her sacrifice (and look what she went on to do in book five, get her personality completely overlooked for five minutes of tension. Stay dead, girlie) The list could go on forever.

I think we all know what happened here. Maas had no idea what to do with her story beyond book two. Book one, solid. Book two, solid, but leaves book three with some work to do. Book three, does none of that work, bs. Book four, it's 200 pages and doesn't count, filler. Book five, unmitigated directionless bullshit. Wtf was happening with that human queen??? Nothing that happened in the “main plot” of that book made any sense (whether we're diving in and taking this as their lives that they're living or as Maas's fictional narrative) the only good part was Nesta and the girls.

Anyway, so concludes my rant. I love the Court of Dreams to death, but they deserved a better author and a better story.

OH! And wt actual f is going to happen in this alleged book six???? Like, book five's ending felt like closure. Please god tell me this is not going to be an Elaine x Azriel switching POV like book five🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 The only thing worse would be if it was a timeskip and Nyx is our MC. I would actually burn the book.

OHHH! I also hate that Nesta and Cassian are mates. I really thought Feyre and Rhys would be destined love, soulmates, an example of how beautiful it is when the bond works out, Nes and Cas would be love without the mating bond, and no less valid or beautiful, and Elaine would be finding her mate and choosing not to take him, and also choosing not to take the other suiter. I thought Elaine would end up either with Greysen or with some rando from Velaris (if rando, then off page. The series would end with her single and happy)

Dear fandom and LGBTQ community,

(This is about to be a long post. I'm going to put a little divider here but it would mean a lot to me if you read the whole thing.)

It's pride month. I know that means you get all shippy in your fanfics and fanarts. Love that, keep doing it. There's not enough yuri in this world. And I understand that sometimes the queer rep in certain media is too little, so you turn canonically heterosexual characters LGBTQ. Whatever, that happens in real life all the time.

But please, PLEASE leave the aro/ace characters alone. There's already so little aspec rep in media, the last thing we need is for people to take even those characters away.

Yes, some aromantic people have romantic relationships. Yes, some asexual people still have sex. But if you take a character that canonically is aro or ace and shows no signs of attraction in the media, you can't just make them gay. Greysexuals, demiromantics etc. are valid and beautiful and deserve more recognition and representation, but not like this. Not as a way to say "well technically they COULD still fall in love" and then not exploring that aromanticness any further.

Imagine how pissed you would be if someone took a canonically homosexual character and put them in a straight relationship in fanfic with some lousy excuse.

Actually that probably regularly happens. Well, it sucks, doesn't it?

Well anyways, my point is, platonic relationships are fun to explore too! Or even aro/ace/aplatonic could be interesting to write.

Make a story about the rejection that comes with falling in love with someone and then it turns out they're aro/ace, loving someone you know will never love you back. Hell, write a story about a character finding out they're aro/ace when they're already in a relationship. Like, there's so much angst inherent in this sexuality, write about that! Why must you write smut about (what is often) the single character you really shouldn't write smut about.

Jeez this is becoming a long rant. I just want to say a couple more disclaimers to prevent miscommunication here:

I am not against shipping. If they're fictional characters, do whatever you want. But please don't take away representation.

For some reason Tumblr won't let me edit this but another thing I'd like to add is the song writing just didn't do it for me. I genuinely think that Taylor is capable of writing beautiful lyrics and i wouldn't be so critical of ttpd if she hadn't said it's her most lyrical album. She's a great story teller even while using simple words taking folklore and Evermore for example: "all these people think our love's for show but I would die for you in secret" "I was so ahead of the curve, the curve became a sphere" "now you hang from my lips like the gardens of Babylon" "don't want no other shade of blue but you, no other sadness in the world would do" the entire bridge of cardigan. She uses more complex words pretty well too like how illicit affairs uses clandestine and champagne problems uses crestfallen perfectly. The thing is these words feel really natural when used in folklore and evermore but ttpd feels like a pretentious kid who thinks mental asylums are an aesthetic.

A (not so) quick comparison as to what I thought ttpd would be like vs how it actually was:

In my tears ricochet (i love that song so much) Taylor sings "if I'm dead to you then why are you at the wake? Cursing my name, wishing I stayed, look at how my tears ricochet" the use of ricochet is perfect, the tears that she cried are reflecting back as bullets and hitting the people that hurt her. Here she says "and you can aim for my heart go for blood, but you'll still miss me in your bones" here "miss me" has two meanings, that the person who's aiming for heart will miss it because there's still lingering affection or maybe they're just a coward and "miss me in your bones" also means that even though they act indifferent, they're still gonna miss her when they kill her.

In but daddy i love him, Taylor says "Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I'll never see" the rhyme is so awkward, and it just doesn't make sense in the context of the song. Sanctimoniously means making a show of being morally superior and soliloquies is essential just talking to yourself. "He was chaos, he was revelry, bedroom eyes like a remedy" maybe i wouldn't hate this so much if it was about anyone other than Matty Healy but again I just expected more from Taylor.

I don't think ttpd represents female rage either, mad woman from folklore alone was more female rage coded than the entire album.

I think swifties are justified in feeling so protective of Taylor after all the kim and Kanye shit went down and people are also justified in disliking Taylor for romanticising asylums, all her carbon emissions, not speaking up for Palestine and her dating Ratty Healy. I also think it's unfair to call everyone that criticizes Taylor someone who just hates successful women. She's done some problematic shit that does deserve criticism. But i think it's also true that some people's reasoning for hating Taylor is unfair and unjustified like how only teenage girls listen to her (not true at all) or she's a bad writer. Let's just stop shaming teenage girls for their interests and let's listen to something other than shake it off before calling her a bad writer.

About Taylor not speaking up for Palestine, I did not say that it makes her a Zionist, but the thing is that she isn't just some billionaire, she's person of the year and a really influential figure that holds a lot of power so her choosing to stay silent is very disappointing.

CONCLUSIONS! lived up to the hype! i think it's a bit 13-era vibe in that it's clearly influenced by all the prestige space-base-isolation scifi we see in the ~cinema now every year. the aesthetic is hitting that vibe (and going to the root, there's also a very clear Alien influence). kinda wish we had more one offs just like this one :( bc i feel the other 2 specials have too much Work to do, so there's not enough time to do.Fun like lore and character stuff. Execution wise is very successful. the switcheroos work. the callbacks work. there's a lot of character stuff happening ("I just realized I'm still working through that!") but it doesn't interfere w/ the adventure itself. My one grip is there's a couple shots that do feel too green-screen-y, but overall the ep is visually amazing. def only a story you could do now. also I love that the NMDs were like "rtd is gonna retcon the timeless child!!! everyone hated it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and he was like "cool. now watch this" lollll king moments. rare moments where it feels like we live in the best timeline.

Hi! Just saw your rant review of ACOTAR and thank god someone else felt the same way. As someone who really loves Celtic/Brythonic folklore, there's something that felt very icky and disrespectful about SJM taking a folktale told by the people, for the people, and saying "Not hot enough, it needs be more s e x y." And this is definitely partially inspired by the Twilight series' interpretations of vampires although I am much more forgiving of the latter. While the vampires in Twilight felt de-fanged, if you will, historically, vampires represent the unknown, the dead coming back to life being an affront to God, etc. And that is something Twilight, at the very least, partially explores and expands on the traditions before it. The fae folk can be thought of similarly; remnants of an old, pre-Christian, pagan world full of darkness, danger, and beauty. However, the fae folk in SJM's world felt less of an almost unbeatable force of nature that rarely is defeated and more like. A group of (very racist and deeply misogynistic) elven Edward Cullens acting on their petulant and childish whims. It removes what makes the superstition of the fae so powerful in the British Isles. That was what made the original Ballad of Tam Lin so compelling to me; it is a story about a young woman who fought against the manifestation of the dark and unknown and WON. And SJM's interpretation of the Beauty and the Beast/Hades and Persephone trope is also one-note and surface level. First of all, the Ballad of Tam Lin is NOT a Beauty and the Beast story and to change Tam Lin from being a man trapped by the supernatural to the one doing the trapping is so gross. And, in my opinion, the more compelling Beauty and the Beast retellings re-examines the transformative power of love trope. Instead of the heroine being so virtuous as to change the Beast, both parties involved come to a mutually understanding of each other and love each other for being themselves. Love shouldn't transform, love should bring about mutual understanding. Which is honestly a better lesson than "I can fix him". Just seeing the Ballad being deeply misunderstood like this personally hurt me because it is very formative to me in my younger years. If you want really good stories with Celtic folklore, check out Sargentum and Mias and Elle, they're on Tapastic. (Although Mias and Elle is a Hades and Persephone inspired story which comes with its own problems and is very dark and heavy but at the very least passes the very low bar of not condoning the male lead's actions as hot or sexy and actually punishes him). I'm so sorry this is super long but I have a lot of feelings about ACOTAR and I essentially grieved over the fact that *this* will now be more known than the original Ballad.

OH MY GOD ALL OF THIS YES!!!!! You've worded this so much better than I ever could!

SJM is disrespecting so many folklores, mythologies, folktales, fairytales, traditional stories, etc. for the sake of having faeries that are sexy and hot and got MASSIVE dicks. Her fae don't feel FAE! She forgoes the reason WHY faeries exist in folklore and their significance within their respective mythologies just so she can make 'faeries hotter.' All of her writing especially in the realms of her 'retelling' these fairytales is so, so shallow and unnecessary. She cherry picks what she likes and finds 'hot' from mythologies rather than being respectful to the source material, and it's so disheartening to see!

Because 'Tam Lin' is a really great story of overcoming the supernatural for someone you love! Beauty and the Beast, at its core, is about kindness and mutual understanding! ACOTAR DOES NEITHER OF THOSE!! Sure, Feyre goes Under the Mountain to save a man she loves, but all of her tasks are physical ones - one of which Rhys helped her cheat - so it's not like she can outsmart or overpower the supernatural ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE IS GIVEN A MOMENT TO 'OUTSMART' THE SUPERNATURAL VIA AMARANTHA'S RIDDLE! And in the end, it means nothing because Tamlin isn't her TrUe MaTe. Thanks, I hate it.

And I REFUSE to call ACOTAR a retelling of Beauty and the Beast because aside from there being a beast (that is only on-page for a handful of pages before he is a hot guy for the remainder of the book) it has nothing to do with the original story nor does it really do anything to ELEVATE or reinterpret the fairytale. It literally encompasses everything I hate in retellings.

I will forever detest the trend of turning Beauty and the Beast into an 'i can change him!' narrative, I fucking hate ITTTTTTT!!!!1 And SJM turns it into just that, ESPECIALLY in ACOMAF! (which, ugh, I couldn't even finish ACOMAF because it pissed me off sm)

I too grieve the fact that this toxic, poorly written, shallow, one-note 'retelling' of 'Tam Lin' has become more popular than the original Ballad, it's a legit travesty!!

Hello. So uh. I recently read The Vampire Armand, I've read a bunch of books after that, but there's this one thing in it I haven't been able to get out of my head and need to talk to someone about.

There's this one scene, before Armand becomes a vamp and he's with Marius. And Marius wants him to study or whatever, and Armand doesn't want that, and Marius like wips him. And it's described in great detail and Armand both dislikes it but also seems to enjoy it on some level.

And oh my god, it's obviously (BD)SM, right? And I don't think I've ever before read actual kink in an actual book. It was soo good.

And I felt so strongly that like this is written knowing that this is BDSM. It's written as someone intimately familiar with how impact play feels. And it made me feel seen.

And I also want to know if others also felt so strongly about this scene. If people thought about it like this when the book came out.

Anyway, thanks for being a target of my rant.

You're in good company; many of us have a similair reaction to this scene and for good reason. Anne Rice wrote...a lot of kink. I haven't read her Sleeping Beauty books myself, or her Witching Hour books, but I know enough about what's in them, plus having read almost all of TVC, to know it's obvious that Anne is a kinky mofo at least on the page. And that's a good thing! Because books and art are a safe way to explore even the most taboo aspects of kink and sexuality.

Imo, Marius and Armand go through the dance of a recognizable romance novel BDSM or D/s dynamic. What I mean by this is a power exchange relationship run through the filter of a fantasy love story. People who was well versed in real life BDSM know all about consent, safe words, SSC, all that, but when it comes to fiction, we have a space where we can bend and play with those rules.

Marius is master, this is certain. He purchased Amadeo, he literally bought him. IRL we know this isn't an aspect of real BDSM but it plays well to represent the power imbalance on the page, same as Harlequin romance novels with Fabio on the cover as the pillaging Viking bringing back an unwilling war bride. This variety of forced marriage/relationship is a very old and common trope.

And we see that Amadeo takes to it well. He loves Marius. He welcomes the love Marius gives him. He loves him even as he's being disciplined. And that includes being whipped and punished. Punishment is a common aspect of a PE relationship, and this mirrors that concept in, again, the fantasy romance unfolding on the page. Antis like to point out that Amadeo isn't consenting to this and he's a victim, but once again that's why I'm reiterating that this is a *fantasy romance*, a historical one at that, and our real world ideas of what proper consent looks like don't apply here. This book is written for adults as an escapist fantasy, a rescue fantasy, just like people have been reading for decades.

As somebody who is in a type of PE relationship, who has always desired such a dynamic and who has been reading about practice and the community for 15+ years, I'm with you. M/A speaks to me, and it's kinky elements are a feature, not a bug.

you held the brown paper parcel behind your back, rocking on your heels in excitement as remus surveyed you with a quirked brow from where he sat at the desk in his dorm, snuffing out his cigarette.

technically, your actual anniversary was tomorrow, but he'd already given you your gift, and the cover had been revealed in diagon alley shops, so it could spoil the surprise if you didn't give it to him now.

"okay, so, this may seem really dumb, but i promise it'll all make sense in a bit, and i hope you like it but i feel like you will, and- i'm just gonna give it to you now, 'kay?"

remus smiled, bemused, and nodded "'kay."

"merlin, i'm so sorry, i just got so caught up reading, and the writing was just so... captivating, i didn't even realise the time had passed, it's so heart wrenching, i mean even though i know what happens because we literally lived it i'm still so nervous for them, and this whole part about my lycanthropy is beautiful, and maybe even people will read it and learn more about it, and i want to read it again and annotate it... can i annotate it, i don't want to mess up-"

you laughed, feeling impossibly airy, "you liked it?"

giving him one last hug, you left him to it, feeling like jumping out of joy.

you'd finally written a whole book, detailing the rollercoaster ride between you and your boyfriend to get to where you were now. happy.

Ok it's loki season 2 finale rant time bitches

!¡ SPOILERS and crying ¡!

Ok so first, omfg its a tree

With fruit! Or sparkly whatever things. Doesn't matter. I could be thinking too much (I am) but I think it's kinda of cute to think about how loki takes all these lives and choices and worlds and helps them grow into a beautiful living force of nature. One that creates life and great things all on its own. This contrasts the whole loom idea. The loom takes all these lives and choices and worlds, chooses the ones it wants, and weaves them into a single, artificial, "perfect" thread. It's like nature vs. industry kind of.

Second, AAAAAAAA LOKIUS

The way mobius' ending line echoed and it zoomed in on loki's face is my new roman empire. Also the way mobius turned New York alien invasion loki into self-sacrificing, god of stories loki is crazy. Ship them or not that's amazing. They are besties and also definitely in love (imo) your honor. Back to the original train of thought. I would assume loki can see/hear into timelines to a certain degree. Which means he could be watching mobius from afar which is enough to make the tears start. And does mobius know this? Is that why he waits there a little longer? I can see him sitting in a room alone talking to loki and just hoping loki can hear him. And maybe loki responds despite knowing no one can hear him 😭 cryimg. Maybe they don't even speak they just sit there knowing the other is thinking about them. It's so tragically cruel that just as loki realizes that what he really wants is his friends back and to not be alone, he loses his friends and becomes alone forever. He finally gets his throne. Which is another thing. I might be wrong but I think I remember loki talking about how he never wanted the throne of asgard he just wanted his father's love and stuff like that (idr what movie) which is even more painful. He chased a throne he didn't want his whole life in an attempt to gain other things. When he realizes he has what he wants he loses it. Similar to how in ragnarok thor tells him he was always loved, loki just didn't realize. And how thor says loki could've been more if he just let himself be more. And mobius told loki (who didn't get to ragnarok) he could be someone good. Loki finally finds the truth in these things, he can be good, but he loses everything he really wanted in return.

We arrive at three, mobius leaves the TVA

This scene hurts too. Mobius says he belongs at the TVA and he likes it there. And honestly, I (because as not him I am oh so qualified here (sarcastic)) agree. I can't see him living the life he has on the timeline. I can see him settling down but idk something feels off (it's not with loki /hj). After loki leaves he looks absolutely miserable at the TVA though. Mobius lost his purpose when loki found his </3 and now the only thing he can do is try to live some semblance of a life. Loki lost his best friend but so did mobius. And now he has to leave his life's work and try to live like a normal person who hasn't had their world ripped away from them. Me personally, I would feel hopeless.

Oh and fourth, where the fUck is he

It was probably said at some point but I don't remember, I'm too lazy to look, and I don't actually need an answer. But what kind of messed up outer space dimension are they in? Where is the TVA? Can't be in space because then someone would conquer them. And where did loki go? He ripped open space and now he has a chair somewhere. Speaking of which. My man has a chair. Just a chair. A rock chair. Barely a throne. Ignoring all the awful stuff I just spent ages typing that's a pretty awful way to spend the rest of time. Speaking of which part 2. Is loki immortal now? Because last I checked he had a lifespan of 5000 which is not "for the rest of time" sooo?

I'll probably think of more I wanted to say but hopefully I got most of it. Just needed that out of my brain it was and still will take up too much space.

Hi CH, thank you so much for your wonderful story! I really love it!

I do want to express my experience as a reader and mention that while James was portrayed beautifully in the first book, I feel that in the recent chapters in this current book he's missing so much light, prankful energy and the leadership he's meant to posses. he's not playful anymore, quite broody and kind of boring. I think his relationship with Florence is literally killing his vibe and I cannot see why he hangs on to her or even like her romantically enough to date her for so long... she's been a good friend to Lily, and she's nice overall (really no hate to her, just realization she's not it for him) but she's so vanilla-boring in every aspect almost, and James is Aries, the element of fire, he needs intellectual and a strong spirited girl to stimulate his brain and attraction (well, in my pov anyway). I just don't get it and I think she doesn't even make him that happy, it really feels like convenience and playing couple after all, they just don't really click.

I know you're a brilliant writer, and so far your world building and plot are beautiful, so I'm not complaining and I'm sure you've put a lot of thought on the way you shape the plot and story. It is just an "I miss James" rant and while I'm at it, will we have more pranks and some good old Marauders scenes coming still?

I mean…James is going through a lot. He’s facing the inevitability of his dad dying, he’s confronting his own shitty behavior and flinching as he takes an honest look in the mirror. He’s trudging through the misery of teen romance and coping with the particularly painful heartache of unrequited love. Not to mention that he’s coming of age in the shadow of violence and the incessant creep of fascism. He’s 17! I think he gets to be a little broody sometimes. 🫠

One note though, with regards to James dating Florence for “so long”…they really haven’t been haha. They started dating mid January, and it’s like…barely April TLE time. I realize this misconception is almost certainly a result of it taking me so long to finish TLE2 and, frankly, some overall larger pacing issues that come from me writing chapter to chapter, rather than all at once and editing — both of which are reasons why I’ve decided that after TLE2 I am never writing-as-I-go again lol. But yeah, it’s not that long of a relationship. And they’re already very clearly on the rocks. 🙃

Anyway. Yeah, James is different from TLE1. And he’ll be different in TLE3. So goes the character growth!

Rewatching the Star Wars Movies Part 1!

and now I notice the little details seeing as I am older!

Damn I hope there do be no typos in this rant I spent so much time and energy on….

So:

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away….

I watched Star Wars the Phantom Menace again- one of my favourite movies of all time! And I realised that I could notice more details than usual and reflect on the meaning of particular scenes this time around!

- Padmé’s first ever entrance proves she is all business, is a fashionista and is a powerful woman who will not let any force of evil ruin innocent people’s lives

- I am so amazed that I am able to tell the difference between Sabé and Padmé now! I really want Keira Knightly to return as Padmé. Perhaps this is far-fetched- but in the Ahsoka series?!

- Otoh Gunga- the long shots of Obi and Qui swimming after Jar Jar towards the glowing Cory is gorgeous- but I wonder- how long did the city take to build? And how did they get all the resources down there? Why are the outside materials not rusting??!

- The way Obi-wan walks with his large robe sleeves makes him look so cute and tiny

- Ric Olié is such a dedicated, skilled pilot- I love how he is like Ani’s first mentor who teaches him the terms of the cockpit

- Obi-wan and his tendency to be like “picked up another pathetic life form” is 😂

- Ani being so respectful to his mumma is so cute. Shmi is so gentle- yet she will be forthright with her opinion and stubborn when she’s needs to protect Ani- she would have been an amazing grandma- and she would have shipped Anakin and Padmé so hard! I can just imagine the flustered, embarrassed 19 or 20-year-old Ani when they head to Tatooine after Anakin’s nightmares and Shmi is sharing embarrassing childhood stories about Anakin to Padmé. And the soft smile that would etch itself on her face when she walks in on Anakin and Padmé snuggled close to each other as they stay a night at the Skywalker-Lars homestead. Yes it just so happened that there were not enough beds so Anakin and Padmé had to share one- both were so nervous yet secretly thrilled to cuddle each other as they fell asleep 😴

- That conversation at the dinner table about how Anakin wants to finish a device to detect the slaving transmitters in the back of slaves’ necks makes me wish he and Padmé lived happily ever after on Naboo. They would go on fun adventures with their many children- Luke, Leia, Mila (after Milaflower), Jinn and another baby on the way, going to the snowy world of Hoth and swimming in the lakes of Naboo. When Anidala would want their hard-earned date week every 2 months or so, they would drop the kids off for 1 week with Sabé and the handmaiden gang (or Obi, Rex and Ahsoka?) so they could have a romantic vacation on Tatooine. But at the same time Anidala were investigating the slave situation and were being updated on the progress Sabé and Tonra had made by shipping freed slaves off world.

- The fluffy beard makes Ki-Ado seem like space Santa is swear

- I just noticed how upset and guilty Padmé appears when she suggests a vote of no confidence for poor, confused Valorum- she wants to immediately aid her struggling people but also feels wrong for ruining the career of confused Valorum

- Like frick off Palpatine he’s all smiling and like “I am going for Chancellor Yipee” and Padmé does not want to hear it! She realises there is more significant issues to worry about- *cough* and a *cough* “our people are dying in labour camps”! Ahah her feminist and stubbornness is shining through like a beacon!

- How soft Padmé’s features are and how gorgeous and intricately detailed her queen outfits are enhance her beauty yet symbolise how young she truly is

- Mace’s head shines so much at night time I swear

- I love how Qui-gon brushes off Obi’s negativity all the time and knows where how to focus his attention on the present and his passiona

- I actual burst out laughing when Ani was like ‘Qui-gon, Sir, I don’t wanna be a problem…”

- The elegant yet purposeful way the handmaidens stride onto the silver ship is so beautiful

- In the scene where Nute Gunray communicates with hologram Palpatine, I only just noticed the beautiful sculptures. These sculptures prove how much the Naboo people value art and express their creativity by surrounding themselves with decorations that have meaning

- Swampy Naboo giving Endor vibes damn

- I adore the bewilderment of Ani, Jar Jar and my Jedi boys when Padmé reveals herself as queen and everyone is like “what the the frick???”

- Maul’s staring into my soul! Ghost Padmé save me from the scary boy

- The strategic mind of Padmé is so inspiring- I love my intelligent gurl. She’s like- “ we make a diversion, we will use pilots to knock out the droid ship and we have Artoo’s strategic plan saved in his data bank—-”

- The fog and creepy bird noises as the Gungans march out onto the fields of Naboo builds some awesome suspense

- The droid army tanks moving sound like airplanes damn

- The handmaidens in battle action and being able to see their intricate hair buns is pretty sweet- I believe Eirtaé is the only blond handmaiden!

- Rest in peace that poor pilot who immediately crashed in the grassy Naboo fields

- ooh! I love how one of the Bravo pilots was a woman! Look at Naboo letting all genders be empowered, go my favourite planet!

- I love them oversized, glowing blueberries Jar Jar is still learning to throw

- Oh my Force! Sith are such dramatic turds I swear 😂 Darth Maul standing there menacingly, slowly lifting his eyes to death glare Obi and Qui-gon, alongside the music is killing me

- Maul flashing his teethies like a dog is hilarious 😆

- Maybe Jar Jar do be a sith… I mean, when his foot got tangled in the wiring of a battle droid and as he clumsily tried to escape the wire snaking around him- he managed to shoot many droids…

- Artoo is like man why the hell I gotta babysit this blond beach boy when I could be destroying the space station in like 2 minutes

- Qui-gon being stabbed brought me on the verge of tears. But I could not help but notice that, in the close up after he was stabbed so cruelly, his eyes sparkled a really deep blue- I never noticed he had sky blue eyes until then damn

-I love how prepared Padmé is with blasters resting in her secret throne compartment

- It was like a Star exploding seeing the Trade Federarion ship go BOOM

- The love in Qui-gon’s eyes as he strokes Obi’s cheek- I MISS HiM YOUR HONOUR

- SASSY PANAKA- “I think you can kiss your Trade franchise goodbye.” gIVes ME LiFE

- My favourite handmaiden outfit is the golden hooded robe after the end of the Invasion of Naboo

- Yoda is so scary when he frustrated DAMN! Agree with you the COUNCIL DOES NOT!!!

- In the funeral scene, I never noticed George Lucas’s little sneaky camera close up. After Mace exclaims- “but which was destroyed- the master or apprentice?” It zooms in on Palpatine’s face and fuzzes out everyone else- Foreshadowing is impeccabile here! Never noticed it when I was younger!

- Mwhaah- I noticed in a scene a few seconds before the movie ends that there was a handmaiden standing behind Obi in a beautiful, silverish, grey cloak. At first I was like- “hey that looks like Sabé!” I then had to skip back to the scene once the credits started rolling- and I took a picture of the face! I think I am right- the face seems to boast the features of Keira Knightly! Take a look for yourself:

Ghostbur’s just… adorable. I don’t usually call fictional characters adorable, but Ghostbur IS HE REALLY IS!!! HERE WOULD YOU LIKE AN EXAMPLE!!!

HE TALKS IN A HIGH-PITCHED SCRATCHY VOICE AND WEARS A YELLOW SWEATER AND HIS BEST FRIEND IS A SHEEP NAMED FRIEND AND HE JUST OUGH OUGHHHH

Speaking of Friend!! Ghostbur being an animal lover is just… yes. He’s so sweet and kind and gentle to Friend and loves him dearly and takes him everywhere on a little leash, and he calls Friend his “comfort sheep” and Friend really does help calm Ghostbur down and aaaaaaah he’s like a therapy pet and it’s adorable 🥺

Ghostbur’s devotion!! To the people he loves!! Oh my gosh!! Like he literally followed Tommy to his death, and did everything he possibly could to help Tommy and make sure he was taken care of and felt loved; and the compasses!!! Aaaaaaah!!! Ghostbur gave Tommy a compass that pointed to Tommy’s best friend, and Ghostbur knew it would mean a lot to Tommy so he went through the painstaking process to make the compass and EEEEEEEEEE!!!

Oh! Exile! Can I talk about Exile? Yes, I shall.

Ghostbur was pretty much the only one who visited Tommy during Exile. The only one! And not only that, but Ghostbur stayed; he built Tommy a house, helped him make Exile a home (or as much of a home as it could be) and helped decorate and would take pictures of L’manburg and bring them back for Tommy to look at, and he helped with the beach party planning and happily offered to send invitations… like I feel like people don’t talk about this. Ghostbur helped Tommy a lot during Exile—so much so that Dream, the big bad guy of the server, saw Ghostbur as a threat and tried to kill him!!!

DREAM!!! THE BAD GUY!!! SAW GHOSTBUR AS A THREAT!!! WHY DON’T PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THIS?!!

Lots and lots of people see Ghostbur as a child, as immature, as silly or weird or pointless or something else, and while yes, Ghostbur does have very weird and very innocent and very child-like quirks, that is not his entire personality.

In actuality, Ghostbur is an incredibly cunning, smart, resourceful, thoughtful, deeply caring individual who thinks hard about things, and communicates himself in a wonderfully unique way! I really resonate with a lot of what Ghostbur says :)

So many people see Ghostbur as the “tee-hee silly ghost boy” and like… have they even watched his Doomsday stream?? Have. Have they even watched it?? Have they heard Ghostbur screaming at Phil??? Ghostbur has such a unique personality + way of viewing the world, and I feel like this fandom really sleeps on that—which is a shame, because Ghostbur is a beautiful character!! There’s so much potential there!!

Also his determination to see the best in everyone, even if they’ve been deemed the bad guy; he saw goodness in Eret, he saw hope in Wilbur, he was even nice to Dream! He even was friends with Dream (which, he probably shouldn’t have been, because Dream did nothing but hurt him, but still wksdhwjsgwjg)!

One of my favorite quotes from Ghostbur is, “Maybe a villain is just a hero who hasn’t been convinced yet.”

14. bl you think is underrated

ooh this is a tricky one, bc i can definitely tell you what i think is overrated (but thats not the question...), plus im always gonna think my favourites are underrated bc everyone should love them but i digress. i wanna highlight 3 shows/things bc the first one is a short series and then a movie and thats his. idk if it's bc its a few years old now but when i watched this show and then the film i just adored it. first of all, the show is the perfect kind of chill watch where not really much happens and yet a lot happens?? thats how me and my sister affectionately describe our favourite kind of shows bc they deal in the normal and everyday and manage to make it seem huge and beautiful and this series does that with one of my favourite tropes that i love to see crop up in j-bls which is an escape to the beach (and later the countryside), plus the show has the most awesome and well done early 2000s aesthetic that just fills me with nostalgia. but the film is a whole other thing. it pulls an old fashioned cupcake/cherry magic and gives us adults but unlike them shows us a story that is very grounded and real and serious, like they really said lets take this bl and actually make it a story about parenting and what a family can be and show just how complicated it all is and sometimes there is no winning and thats life. god its just beautiful, and theres still a deep and meaningful love story at the heart of it. just go watch it now if you haven't, or rewatch it if you haven't for a while.

second im picking eien no kinou and im prefacing this by saying i get why less people talk about this bc its not fun and some people dont wanna watch a story they know will be sad, but its also so important that it exists and i think it touches on some really tough topics and manages to tell them beautifully. and bc i havent seen much of what ppl say about this, idk what any consensus takes are but i felt very emotional watching this through the lens of erasure of queer relationships when it comes to loss, how sometimes when people aren't out or cant share their relationship, they become lost, or invisible, when someone is lost. and i mean... the queer experience is all-encompassing and such grief is something that should also be talked about when queerness can affect that process in a specific way, and while i dont think its easy to watch or revisit, its nevertheless important and beautiful

ive talked about some more heavy shows so i'm ending with if its with you, which is recent but even i pushed it to the side a little bc i liked i cannot reach you so much, but this show is kinda like the opposite to the ones above. i feel like people like a middle ground in their shows between drama and comfort, so while people dont talk as much about serious or sad shows, they also dont talk about the shows that are just nice. and this show is just that, bc its all about teaching someone thats had a bad experience that there is simple kindness in the world and its so heart-warming. i'll never forget the way ryuuji responded in that last ep when amane got nervous around the other kids, how he thought it would be this big think that he'd be mad about bc that's what happens in every show, but ryuuji was just like yeah its ok i understand and im not mad. just the pure kindness this show has to people feeling the way they feel is so refreshing and beautiful and it captures the high school simplicity of it all in a way that makes you step back as someone older and think huh yeah it really is just that easy, its just about happiness.

anyway, between this and the last response, i think by j-bl bias is jumping out a bit too much but thats the end of my rant, thank you for coming to my ted talk
