#with all the s2 news coming out there's a lot of speculation about the trial and whatnot going on#and this morning when i logged on i saw - and i'm not exaggeration - a solid 6 or 7 tweets saying things like#'louis is going to get to experience what he put lestat through'#or 'ha karma!' re: louis' fate#and all these things along the lines of louis deserving losing claudia and the other vampires hunting him down#and like#all i did was tweet that it was CRAZY#especially after everything that happened to louis with lestat#that he deserves any of this#and my god i might as well have just said that i think lestat should be carved open and hung in front of all the vampires by his intestines#i might as well have just said that lestat is fully satanic and evil and has no possibility of redemption#like people are so angry with me#and tweeting at me about how we don't even know what really happened and stuff and like#how louis is unreliable or whatever#and it's literally insane#people don't know what an unreliable narrator is#they think everything louis has said is a lie#and then people are like 'where's your proof of people saying this?' when i purposefully didn't quote tweet#or screenshot it trying to avoid any kind of crazy hunting people down or whatever#but instead i've put a target on my own back and people are just#being awful???#idk i don't know why i'm typing all of this out but it's been a long time since i've not wanted to be included in a fandom for a while#like i've read these books for years upon years upon years#followed production of the tv show from the single second anne sold the rights in 2016#and i don't even want to talk to people#also don't get me started on how it's all so very rooted in racism#like lestat is played by sam and sam is this gorgeous white man that the fandom has (rightfully) lost their minds over#(me too like i'm unhinged about that man)#but they can't separate actor and character and are so whatever about him#also a lot of people know lestat has had a hard past and are like 'but poor baby'

i see this jason todd who actually looks his very young age (instead of the 30yr old man that comics like to portray)
Tumblr media
and feel my heart breaking just imagining bruce beating him up, almost killing him, mind-breaking him, and just overall being a total piece of shit father towards him.
a huge chunk of the reason why people don't view bruce's actions towards jason as abusive or wrong is because jason doesn't look his age. he's drawn to be this 35yr old father of three who looks even older than dick (and way too on par with bruce) that people see their fights as one between batman and any of his regular rogues. when they fight, it just looks like batman is fighting a man his age and not an actual young person. it doesn't look like batman is fighting his son who's barely even drinking age (and who def wasn't drinking age in utrh). their fights are portrayed in a way that eliminates the very real power struggle between them.
this applies to jason's entire character as well. a lot of people don't sympathize with how he died or his actions as robin or his fights with the other bats because he doesn't look his age. he always looks older and scarier than everyone else. tim has many sympathizers from the titans tower incident because jason just looked like a grown man fighting a 12yr old (even tho i disagree, tim was built and like 17 lmfao).
anyways, i just wish comics would actually draw jason to look his age, which literally ranges from 19 to early twenties. he's young- so young, and it's so annoying to see him drawn and written as someone older than even bruce.

I love it when Elrond is portrayed as someone who is a little bit incomprehensible to most of the elves at first. Not even just because he's a half-elf, but because he reminds them all of so many other people, and that layering can be kind of jarring.
He sings beautifully, with a voice that sounds like no elf or man, and it reminds many of the Sindar of Luthien. It reminds some of the Noldor of someone else, another singer with raven-dark hair and starry gray eyes.
The braids he does his hair in– and he always keeps it braided at first, because letting it run loose is another thing that makes people whisper of Luthien– are in the traditional Noldor style. The survivors of Gondolin love that; Turgon always wore his hair in classical styles too. The other part of the House of Finwe that clung to traditional braids goes unmentioned. But everyone knows.
And he was clearly taught about court manners; taught to be gracious and charming, and a very good listener. The elf who could have taught Elrond those things is usually skipped over entirely, in favor of those reminiscing about Idril's graceful poise or Melian's endless patience.
He looks very much like Luthien, but there is a particular Finwean sharpness in his facial structure; something that makes him look a lot like Fingolfin, as well. Fingolfin looked very much like his father. And his older brother.
His smile is just like Earendil's (whose smile is just like Tuor's), and his strange, birdlike laugh is from Elwing. He fights and writes with his left hand– but then, so did Earendil, because while all elves are right-handed, not all humans or half-elves are. He eats no meat– just like Beren, they say, but the way Elrond tells it the choice had nothing to do with that history. There is ainuric power in him and something very human in the set of his shoulders. The flowers grow around any place he stays long enough. He gets sick in a way no elf, and certainly no maia, ever would. His accent is odd, and archaic, and changes noticeably when he's too tired to obscure it. His mannerisms are a mixture of about twelve people, almost all of whom are dead, and several of whom are not spoken of by the time he shows up in Gil-Galad's camp.
And the reflections of Elrond unsettle a lot of people; because one moment they see a fallen hero or loved one, and the next they see the person that took them. Or perhaps someone else, that they never knew at all. There is reverence and fear and uncertainty. It's messy.
Elrond himself is coming to peace with this by the War of Wrath. There is love in carrying the parts of your ancestors with you, even when they aren't around any more. And he knows better than anyone that he is always himself, first and foremost. Still, it takes everyone else a while to stop seeing a ghost and start seeing Elrond.

i think we need to understand the gravity of how quickly Percy blames himself and his disabilities for the way his world is. how he's been made to believe over years and years that he's weird, that there's something wrong with him. Percy saying he should've been paying attention. Percy saying there's something wrong with his brain. Percy calling himself broken.. he's just a kid man

last night i watched the first episode in supernatural and within 10 minutes i put it on pause because in NO way, through the 15 seasons, should anyone be happy with how dean's story ends with him dying whilst hunting
because in the 10 minutes that ive learnt about him is that he's spent his entire life fighting, and he dies FIGHTING
no satisfying narrative ends like that, especially not for one thats run for 15 years

I think it’s safe to say Ranchers Win These
(In the silence between the last two panels, there is a 20 page comic in my head filled with flashbacks of every moment Scott teased, scolded, or dismissed Jimmy—and every moment where Tango was instead kind, patient, and proud)

Ok but do you think we could successfully gaslight Scorsese into thinking he directed this film and just forgot about it. Like present him with a lifetime achievement award and just throw it in there when they’re listing all the films he’s made and see if he notices

remember when “looks like you’ve managed to completely embarrass yourself in both languages” and when “aaron said it was the worst day of his life” and when “aaron was faster […] he brought neil’s racquet up and around in an underhanded swing so hard and fast that air whistled through the right strings” and “he held onto andrew like he thought andrew would disappear if he let go” and when “‘get out of here,’ he said, and when luther didn’t move fast enough, he screamed, ‘get out of here!’” and when “i don’t care if andrew never speaks to me again. if i could bring him back from the dead and kill him again, i would” and when he said “i’m walking away and pretending i don’t know you” and remember when “you wouldn’t even look at me. you wouldn’t say a word to me unless i said something first. i’m not psychic, how was i supposed to know?” and “he shoved his racquet at nicky and dropped his helmet and gloves on the way to the cheerleaders” and when

used to daydream about fairytale reconciliations after pretty much every platonic or romantic fallout i ever had, but sometimes it’s healthier to just accept that someone will never own up bc they don’t think you’re worth the trouble. anyone who truly cares would move mountains just to make sure that they communicate w you if they truly want to rectify the situation. but sometimes it’s their ego getting in the way, sometimes they have a narrative of you in their head they’re determined not to break, and sometimes they just don’t care enough about you to even consider it. they don’t have respect for the friendship or relationship in its posthumous state bc it was nothing to them, or at the very least it doesn’t eclipse their pride or their desire to appear correct in a situation or just outright the need to be done w the situation rather than be a good person. still guilty of this but i’ve been getting better at just nipping the delusion in the bud and just being okay w accepting that someone truly does not care. until they prove they do that is the assumption i go w every time. and it is saving me a lot of heartache
