[ 📹 Scenes from the burned bodies of a Palestinian family after an attack by the Zionist occupation army, killing the father and six other family members and severely burning the mother and her four children, the sickening result of an American-made bomb being dropped on their family home.
📈 The current death toll in "Israel's" Special Genocide Operation in Gaza has now reached 33'137 killed and another 75'815 injuries.]
🇮🇱⚔️🇵🇸 🚀🏠💥🚑 🚨
MURDERS SLOW BUT DON'T STOP ON 183RD DAY OF "ISRAEL'S" SPECIAL GENOCIDE OPERATION IN GAZA
On the 183rd day of "Israel's" Special Genocide Operation in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 4 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 46 Palestinian civilians, mostly women and children, while another 65 others were wounded over the previous 24-hours.
A number of victims of Israeli bombings remain buried under the rubble of their homes and shelters, while corpses still line many streets as the occupation army continues to block ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching the sites of Israeli attacks.
In a report today, published in the American newspaper the Wall Street Journal, the news outlet said that the Biden administration is pushing the Zionist entity to accept one of the sticking points in negotiations with the Hamas resistance movement, the return of Palestinians to the northern Gaza Strip who've been displaced by the Israeli aggression.
This has been one of the main demands from Hamas in the negotiations, with the others being the withdrawal of Zionist forces from Gaza and the free flow of Humanitarian aid into the besieged enclave.
According to the report, the Biden administration asked that the Israeli entity's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, allow a limited number of women and children to return to the north of Gaza, while continuing to block men between the ages of 18-50 from returning.
The newspaper said this would "allay American fears of an Israeli attack on the southern city of Rafah," essentially permitting a planned Israeli ground offensive in the area. More than 1.4 million displaced Palestinians have crowded into Rafah, a city of only 171'000 prior to October 7th, 2023, stretching the city's resources thin and helping to spread disease while under starvation conditions.
According to Arab negotiators mediating the talks, the Israeli entity has said it could accept the return of civilians to northern Gaza at a rate of just 2'000 people per day, as long as those returning are women and children, and with a cap of no more than 60'000 Palestinians allowed back to their utterly destroyed homes.
However, with the continued blocking of basic materials like concrete, and no men allowed to return, where the 60'000 Palestinian civilians would live seems an open question.
Hamas, for its part, according to a CNN report, rejected the idea of only allowing 60'000 women and children to return to the north. An unnamed diplomat involved in the negotiations told CNN that "They rejected (the proposal) and considered that it ignored their demands,” adding that the Israeli proposal "did not include anything new," and therefore the movement does not "see any need to change its proposal."
Meanwhile, the Zionist bombing and shelling campaign responsible for so many tens of thousands of civilian casualties over the previous six months has slowed since the recent massacre of 7 foreign aid workers in a series of targeted drone strikes back-to-back with a second atrocity, and a blatant war crime, when Zionist forces bombed the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the Syrian capital, but has yet to stop despite heavy international pressure, including some limited pressure put on the Netanyahu regime by the Americans.
In a recent letter sent to the American President, signed onto by the House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, dozens of Congressional Democrats urged U.S. President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinkin to withhold arms transfers to the Israeli regime until a full investigation can be held and completed into the slaughter of the 7 foreign aid workers.
The letter was issued by U.S. Congressmembers Mark Pocan, Jim McGovern and Jan Schakowski and signed by 40 other lawmakers, including Pelosi, many of whom are considered staunch supporters of the Israeli entity.
According to a report about the letter, frustration has been mounting among House Democrats for months as the Netanyahu regime prosecuted its deadly Special Genocide Operation in Gaza, slaughtering tens of thousands of civilians, including over 14'000 children who've been killed since the start of the war.
However, Tuesday's deadly strike on the World Central Kitchen (WCK) personnel as they finished unloading many tons of humanitarian aid into a distribution warehouse in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, and bombed as they were leaving the city, has shook many lawmakers and their aides, many of whom believe the attack to be a turning point in U.S. support for the Israeli regime's genocide campaign.
Even some lawmakers who've refrained from criticizing "Israel" until now have since begun to call for a ceasefire, and some even signed onto the letter issued to the Biden administration, such as U.S. Congressmember Chris Coons, who came out on Thursday in favor of placing restrictions and conditions on American military aid to "Israel".
Meanwhile, the bombing and shelling in Gaza continued, albeit at a slower rate than before Tuesday's attacks on the WCK convoy, the Israeli occupation artillery forces shelled Al-Sika Street in the southeast of Gaza City, and also shelled Beit Hanoun, both in the northern Gaza Strip.
Zionist forces also fired artillery and live bullets at high intensity towards residential neighborhoods in southwestern Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
At the same time, the occupation army targeted several residential homes in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, along with the Al-Sabra neighborhood in central Gaza City, and also the Tal al-Hawa and Sheikh Ajlin neighborhoods southwest of Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of three Palestinian civilians, and wounding at least 10 others. Many of whom were transferred to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital.
Similarly, Zionist occupation forces fired artillery shells towards neighborhoods in the southwest of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, while occupation forces also shelled the the central and western areas of the city as well.
IOF warplanes bombed several residential homes and buildings in the Al-Amal neighborhood west of Khan Yunis, while at the same time, live bullets fired by a Zionist sniper stationed on the border fence east of Al-Fukhari, located east of Khan Yunis, critically wounded one female Palestinian civilian.
The Zionist aggression continued when Israeli occupation soldiers detonated multiple residential homes in the northern areas of Al-Mughraqa, north of Al-Nuseirat, in the central Gaza Strip, while Paramedic crews recovered the corpses two martyrs in the same city while under the continuous artillery shelling of the occupation army.
In another Israeli war crime, Zionist warplanes bombed the Al-Sharafa family home, located in the Nuseirat Refugee Camp, in the central Gaza Strip, killing and wounding three displaced Palestinians sheltering in the building at the time.
Simultaneously, Zionist gunboats "intermittently" shelled the shores of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza, where children and families often gather to enjoy the beach, even as the Israeli genocide has unfolded.
In yet another violation of International humanitarian law, occupation soldiers fired live bullets at Palestinian civilians gathered at the Al-Kuwaiti roundabout, south of Gaza City, at the intersection of Salah al-Din Street and Street 10, wounding at least 7 civilians who were transferred to Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, in the northern Gaza Strip.
Zionist forces also bombarded a residential home belonging to the Mansour family in Jabalia al-Balad, in the north of Gaza, killing a number of Palestinian civilians, while occupation artillery fire also concentrated on the east of the Jabalia area.
As a result of "Israel's" Special Genocide Operation in the Gaza Strip, the death toll among Palestinians has now risen in excess of 33'137 citizens killed, over 14'350 of which being children, while another 75'815 Palestinians have been wounded, and yet another 7'000 remain missing under the rubble of their homes since the start of the Zionist aggression on Gaza beginning on October 7th, 2023.

Like genuinely, I'm so sorry that you're dealing with weirdos out of the wood works. It's not normal behavior to write an unsolicited 5 paragraph essay in someone's ask box. If people don't like the characters you're putting on polls, they should just block and move on, like normal people.
Oh, I know this is not normal behavior, and the only reason I don't think that it's trolls is because I met someone in college who would actually do this. They were also a little nuts as in they interrupted a lecture to yell at the professor that they were going to report them for hate speech for using the term "autistic person" instead of "person with autism". Because that was offensive and then walked out of the class, I'm guessing to go report them. They also made a big deal about refusing to sit next to the guy who was a veteran. After all, they had to be racist because they shot brown people. Funny enough, the guy was a first-generation American and was in the Coast Guard. But that didn't matter to this little activist.
But there is a reason I'm doing this. I'm going to University for Media and Mass Communication. So, media literacy is a big part of what I'm studying. Plus, I'm sick and tired of protecting these idiots with zero media literacy, an over-inflated ego, and a savior complex. They need to have their ideas challenged, so maybe they learned something. That's a big reason why I've turned this into a series and want to turn these essays into discussions. Because, again, you're absolutely right. This is not normal behavior, so let's address this as a community. Because, at minimum, they need their ideas challenged because that's how you learn and grow. Their reasoning is flimsy at best, but it usually comes off as an incoherent regurgitation of politically correct buzzwords.

Patrick!Basketball AU Headcannons? 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️
I haven't been motivated to write much lately, plus my life has been super hectic (I'm not writing on ao3, but I think I got the ao3 writers curse, tbh) but I wanted to at least get some headcannons out tonight. Sorry if they're somewhat short. (Based on This Post)
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆
Patrick is truly a great basketball player, that much is true and obvious to the public
What is also true is the fact that he’s awful when it comes to being kind to other players
He’s constantly charged fouls for unsportsmanlike behavior, and the other team usually gets an advantage as an apology for his behavior (free free-throws)
He’s cussing out the opposing team, and his coach for pulling him out of the game. Calling them ‘cunts’ or ‘assholes’ because they scored against him or blocked his throw
He’s been given offensive fouls for elbowing or shoulder-checking people during the game, causing them to fall down
Behind the scenes, he walks around the locker room naked, especially after showers
His teammates complain but no matter how many times he gets talked to about that behavior he continues to walk around with his dick out
He gets drug tested regularly, but does he stop smoking weed? God no, he acts like he was asked to stop breathing when he gets a strike for it and gets told to knock it off
He doesn’t take after-game interviews seriously, rolls his eyes when asked questions, publicly asks his coach when he can ‘leave this bullshit conference’
He has openly told reporters to ‘fuck off,’ has smoked during the conferences, left in the middle of them, and once even punched someone after it was over
Best believe he has been switched several times, received several strikes, and even was suspended a few times for a few weeks
But he’s one of the best players they have, this new team can’t lose him, no matter how awful of a person he is
No matter how much everyone, and I mean everyone, hates him
⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊⋆⋆⁺₊⋆ ☀︎ ⋆
Please send any asks for this AU if you want me to continue it, because I would love to if I have more ideas!!

Welcome! This is an Ask-based meta blog for looking into the intersections of fanon and canon in The Silmarillion fandom.
UPDATE Sept 10 2024: Asks on pause until I get caught up!
What does that mean?
“Fanon archaeology” means digging into the canon texts to theorise about where fanons come from. It's a bit like a "fanon mythbusters" blog except that nothing is being busted. The aim here is to investigate in a spirit of curiosity and fun that celebrates fandom creativity. It is not to criticise or argue against. It is also a great place to send in a Ask about the various “versions” of canon you hear about in this fandom.
Ask Guidelines
To be revised as the blog evolves.
Currently only taking Asks primarily to do with the Years of the Trees and First Age.
Please be respectful in your wording. Avoid language that is judgmental or generalising. For example, instead of saying, “I hate that everyone thinks Sauron tortured Maedhros, can you set the record straight?” just ask the question: “Where does the idea that Sauron tortured Maedhros come from?”
We don't do meta on the canonical basis of ships (Vingilot excepted). This topic is very subjective and outside the scope of the blog.
Responses will focus on links to canon, not fandom history.
We will try to answer approx. one Ask per week.
Replies to anon asks will be tagged #anon.
More info below the cut.
Why bother with this?
The entire corpus of works published by J.R.R Tolkien or his son Christopher is massive, difficult to navigate, and not always accessible. Many fans are curious about the relationship between fanon and canon but perhaps don’t have the time, energy, or resources to dig into the texts. We’re here to do the archaeology: excavate the quotes, dust off the footnotes, and report back on the findings.
Who are you?
Currently this blog is run by one person, but to avoid any confusion between my individual takes and the intended objectivity of this blog, I am keeping my fandom identity on the down-low. I am not a scholar or an expert, but I love researching and writing meta. For now the blog is Silmarillion-focused because that’s my area of interest and knowledge. If and when the blog grows, I hope to expand to include other Tolkien canon and invite fandom community members to contribute responses to Asks.
This is a positive space.
We love fanon, canon, and the creative process that connects them. Positive, constructive, and supportive engagement with our posts is encouraged. Negative, hostile, offensive engagement is not, and we may block users who choose to engage in this way.
Please be respectful of the community and remember we are all just here hanging out because we love the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

I strongly encourage you to unfollow and even block people who are constantly posting callouts and bewares for every little thing. YES there are shitty people out there. I'm not denying that. But it is also not safe to be around someone who is constantly digging through other people's social medias to find "bad things", especially when their idea of "bad things" is rooted in fear and misunderstanding, rather than an actual experience with said person.
For example I followed this person who would put people's FULL ACCOUNTS on blast and even dox them and say "BLOCK AND REPORT THIS PERSON because they're a CREEP and most likely a PEDOPHILE, R4PIST, ZOOPHILE, and POSSIBLE ABUSER!!!". Now naturally you want to believe someone when they say they are the victim of something. But that isn't what's happening here. This is a case of "Your kinkyness grossed me out and your sexuality is too vulgar for my tastes, so I will be attempting to put your life and privacy at risk". For this specific example, no evidence was provided to summarize why all of these extreme words were used, so out of curiosity I went to the account and... the person was just a trans woman posting furry porn and other nsft ramblings. That is not an offense. That is not abuse or pedophilia or zoophilia. Remind me again how it's "social justice" to keep calling openly sexual trans women predatory?
And I say block these kinds of people (the ones who feel the need to play "neighborhood watch" online) because chances are, eventually they will investigate YOUR business, and you might be found "guilty" of their personal morality crime.

cpfs are getting a Lot of hate rn bc of the banners at the airport
thoughts?
What are my thoughts? 🙃
I think people should stay in their own damn lane, both the solos who are whining about what turtles are doing, and the turtles who are whining about what the solos think/say about turtles.
Tumblr media
And if you're talking about Twitter, where some turtles are falling all over each other bitch other turtles out the loudest and seem the most blameless... the same applies. Keep Twitter toxicity where it belongs. Don't bring it here. Most of us are here to get away from that garbage.
As for the light banners, it's pretty convenient for solos to continually say that turtles should only bring green to events. They hate BXG, so of course they're going to want to eliminate our fandom color from any event. But the idea that we should show up in solo colors is absurd and totally offensive.
I have said this before, turtles have absolutely every right to show their support to GG and DD. They have absolutely every right to show their colors at events. The problem isn't the colors, it's fan behavior that can be a problem. People showing fandom colors should behave in ways that present the fandom in a positive light.
As far as I could see, the people crowding DD and his team out at the airport were not wearing any fandom color, and were just individuals making bad choices (many could quite possibly have been shishengs, paps and daipai such as those who did similar at the airport when GG was leaving for Europe). The fans tend to be well-behaved. It's those others who are unscrupulous and will do anything for a shot.
Even still, when it comes to fans behaving badly - those are their mistakes to make. I'm not going to get invested in their behavior beyond being concerned for DD and his comfort/safety. Frankly his security should have been better provided for in that situation, even if it was to call ahead and get a team there for when he landed to ensure things didn't get out of hand.
People who think that turtles showing up in green would stop us from being attacked or would prevent fan wars are deluding themselves. Motos would just move on to the next complaint - the content of the banners, the dolls, or 'shipping', or whatever other issues they have with turtles - until turtles were basically motos and the world was indistinguishable from a world without turtles.
Solos continually try to stamp out any positive fan support turtles show. They even do it with the charitable works that are done in Boxiao's name. Catering to motos won't get anyone anywhere. Of course we should not go to war, but we also should not be afraid to exist and show our support.
LIVE AND LET LIVE. There's never any excuse for fighting and arguing. I also feel there's never any need to berate other fans in lengthy threads such as the ones I've seen on Twitter over the past couple of days. It's just sanctimonious posturing. Are the actual people complained about even reading the post? Unlikely.
And this is something I see in fandom all the time and that I have a whole other rant about in another post in my drafts... people making a huge scene and stirring up a lot of drama around something they think someone else is doing, and then pointing to that same drama they just brought and saying "See! Look at all the drama that person is causing!"
If fans don't want drama about these things then they should just stop bringing it. Block and ignore, and report when appropriate. The world becomes very peaceful when we curate our online experience.
If people find the behavior of others so troubling they should just cut it out of their lives in the exact same way.
I would like to remind any solos who freak out about turtles and our behavior, there are only two people on the planet with the power to shut turtles down, and those boys have remained remarkably silent about us, and if anything have continued to feed us. Solos should reflect on that, sit down and be humble.

The student government at Whitworth University denied a Republican group's request to invite Xi Van Fleet, a survivor of Maoist China, to speak on campus, citing her criticism of "woke culture" and her comparisons of the ideology to her experience under communist rule.
The student government at Whitworth University, a private Christian university in Spokane, Washington, voted 9-4 to reject the Turning Point USA chapter’s request to host Van Fleet during a meeting on April 12, arguing that her positions, represented by her tweets critical of woke culture, could be deemed "hurtful or offensive," Campus Reform reported.
The Virginia mother, who endured Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution before immigrating to the U.S., has emerged as an outspoken opponent of critical race theory and frequently warns about similarities she sees between the "woke revolution" and her experience living under Mayo Zedong's Chinese Cultural Revolution, including the suppression of opposing viewpoints.
Grace Stiger, president of the Turning Point USA chapter at Whitworth University said she wanted Van Fleet to "tell her story," and provide students with a unique perspective as a survivor under Zedong's rule. But the student government objected to Stiger's request, citing Van Fleet's anti-woke tweets, which they said targets diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Black Lives Matter, the LGBTQ community and "environmental justice" among other social justice initiatives, Campus Reform reported.
Van Fleet denounced the student government's decision to block her from speaking in an interview with the website, calling it "extra concerning that this happened [at] a Christian college, which is supposedly more conservative."
"What are they afraid of?" she asked. "Those people who believe in lived experience, then they are going to get the lived experience from me because I’m not talking about an idea that I read or researched or studied."
Van Fleet said that while she is "not surprised at all" and is "very familiar with what’s happening on American campuses," she hopes students will learn from the history of China's Cultural Revolution.

i hate it when ppl act like some of us are crazy for even considering the possibility of tae having ulterior motives for name-dropping jungkook constantly. especially with how frequently he does it and how painfully silent jungkook is in comparison.
they're always like "do you think tae knows how the fandom works and how shippers act?" it's not crazy to assume that he does. we're talking about the same man who sent jimin the fan art that made jimin get that moon phase tattoo on his back. that tweet wasn't even viral on army twt until tae confessed on live that he sent it to jimin. so yeah, the man obviously lurks in army spaces.
all the members do, namjoon just recently referenced army's "bts chapter two might not be so bad after all" in suchwita during a conversation about shirtless jungkook for CK. yoongi mentions jimin all the time. jimin mentions hobi, jin, namjoon and yoongi mostly because he knows that army will love to hear tidbits about the members’ current dynamics and he knows that his relationship with the previously mentioned members won't generate any negative reactions, unlike with taekook, where he doesn't mention them much unless directly asked about them. they know what the fandom's in and outs are. they might not know how bad it sometimes gets with shippers but they're 100% aware that shippers are lunatics who get mad at certain members (jimin) for the sake of ships.
dare i even say that jimin might be keeping his distance from the fandom lately because he knows exactly what type of freaks are out to get him online and in person? they leaked his mail last year ffs, and ever since jimin has built up walls around himself that he will possibly never lower again.
the members talk amongst each other about the fandom, they said it. they said that every conversation about their activities and their future always involves army. they always consider our reactions for anything they do. the company knows exactly which ships are popular and they try to push those (yoonmin, namjin, taekook). there's even a whole running joke in the fandom about bighit always stealing and copying army's ideas, they have staff that lurks and reports back about the inside dynamics and doings of the fandom. it's business 101. studying your audience.
so back to taehyung not knowing how tkkrs act; i firmly disagree. his audience mostly consists of taekookers and he knows it because whenever he comes online they're the ones who hog him the most. and i believe he's definitely aware how far they take the taekook ship, and who's their chosen #1 enemy; but he simply doesn't care. maybe he already discussed it with jimin himself and jimin told him to do whatever he wants and not blame himself for what the shippers say because jimin himself isn't allowing the hate to get to him by blocking them out. out of sight out of mind kind of thing. so maybe taehyung does what he believes is best for him, after making sure both jungkook and jimin are okay with it, and just doesn't wait around to see the chaos that unfolds. the way you choose to interpret his actions all boils down to what type of person you think he is.
my personal impression of taehyung is that he's a troll, he's reckless, impulsive, and he does what he likes/speaks his mind even if others disagree with it or misunderstand it. like him not stopping to greet fans at the airport, which was considered rude, but he did what he saw was best for his safety. or how he sometimes jokes with armys in a way that he be seen as offensive but he does it because he thinks of armys as his best friends. he even admitted to doing fan service before because he knows that armys will like it (when he kissed jin's cheek in run bts), so he's aware of the power of the ships that involve him. if he knows fans will like seeing him kiss jin on the cheek because they ship them, so he knows that fans like seeing taekook interactions as well; that's why he never keeps a taekook irl moment to himself and always comes online—even if for a minute—to let us know. to give the fans what they want (feeding them) and keep himself in the fandom's good graces. he's been doing it so much lately and it's definitely for a reason. jungkook is not the only member he meets, i'm sure of that. but he still only mentions jungkook. he tried giving us a vmin moment recently and we all know how much the fandom has been whining about the lack of vmin lately. i think he knew that, and he tried giving us something. but jimin arrived earlier and didn't wait for him, so.. it makes you wonder why he's targeting those two specific audiences (taekookers + vminers) and why does he so desperately want to be kept in their good graces (especially taekookers)...
he also knows that armys don't like blackpink and are fighting blinks all the time, and thus he's afraid about us knowing that he's dating jennie, so he deflects by mentioning jungkook because that's what his fans want to hear.
the bottom line is, i need people to stop acting like taehyung is some clueless child who doesn't know his audience and what they like to see. cause they're underestimating his intelligence. he's not a maliciously manipulative kind of guy, but he does love to troll. the problem is that his trolling has much bigger consequences than he might possibly comprehend and it's gonna backfire horribly solely on him in the future.
Hi anon,
First of all, I want to say that my issues with Tae come from being a fan of Jimin, not a believer of Jikook. To me Tae has never, will never and doesn't pose a threat to Jikook. Even before I loved Jimin, believed in Jikook, and knew all their names, I just didn't vibe with Tae (and a few others). I don't hate them at all, they are just not my type of people.
Also, my views and anon's views are fan's perspectives. We speak of what we see. Like anon said, maybe Tae, Jimin, and Jk are all cool with it and laugh at all this or maybe there is some tension there and hate each other. We don't know because all we have is the fan perspective. What is visible to us.
With that being said, I think the anons perspective is valid. Everything you said is something I agree with, anon.
It would be nice if people could act like adults and treat BTS as adults. BTS calls us out for the immature comments and stuff so I find it fair to call them out too. Besides, they are not infallible...as we have seen.
Tae is aware that his actions rile up his shippers (all his different types) and knows does what he needs to do in order to get his ship trending and therfore keep his supporters. But to be fair, I don't know if he is aware of much hate is created by riling up the delusionals. I don't think Tae is a bad guy. But there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he is doing all this thinking from a business perspective and to protect his relationship with Jennie...I mean, what kind of protection is that? but ok.
But here is the thing anon, if we measure Tae's actions with this "ruler", then we have to measure all the members with the same ruler. This includes scrutinizing Jungkook's fanservice with Tae too and how that has contributed to the Jimin hate train. But no one wants to talk about that. I've yet to encounter anyone treating this topic fairly.
And that's why I think most (if not, all?) Jikookers won't openly talk about Tae's way of feeding his ship and his fan service galore or at least in a fair manner.
But yeah. People should stop acting like Tae is a clueless child...and all the members are clueless children.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Trauma sticks like velcro
I'm still fighting a lot of trauma from Kemetic Orthodoxy. I saw this post, and it sent me back.
Tumblr media
You have no idea what a shit-show it was behind-the-scenes in the House of Netjer, people constantly and purposefully going out of their way to presume someone was being "malicious" for just breathing next to them. It was like operating a daycare center: "Teacher, they're LOOKING at me!"
Grow up. GROW UP. AHHHHHH.
The best part was all the people who would block people they didn't care for but then still report things they've said to the mods (Discord block sucks, it just "hides" messages and you can choose to open them manually). Like. We literally know you are being an asshole since you blocked that person but are still looking at their messages anyway! By CHOICE!
We had to implement rules about blocking, because House of Netjer members are literally children. Basically if you were caught 'circumventing a block' that was an offense -- basically you had blocked someone (and it was easy for someone to know they were blocked as you can't react to that person's posts) but you were still reporting their content or addressing comments / posts toward them. The only reason this rule was in place is because people could not act like adults. There is no other reason to have such a ridiculous rule. If you don't like someone, block them. If you want to read their posts still, that's on you. Don't report the content to the moderators. Grow the fuck up.
Final part of this rant is this: we would often encourage people to presume good intentions. This directive came straight from Tamara though for whatever reason she refused to lay it on the public membership more frequently (a constant problem with her, just a general lack of consistent, strong leadership) and instead would just bring it up in private to members of the staff how she wished people would presume good intentions. But the rocking part of all that is when you would ask this of the community, they would flip out and accuse you of "toxic positivity".
No dearies, it's not toxic positivity: it's reality. And the person you built your entire allegiance around (Tamara Siuda aka the "Nisut" / Pharaoh) wants you to fucking do it this way, so get a grip on reality and understand not everyone is out to get you.
Stop forcing everyone around you to curate YOUR world, and did I mention: grow the fuck up?
My gods, they just. wanted. to argue. all. the time.
How did I make it as long as I did... and when will I recover.

my biggest headaches in work life so far (NSFW in a sense of: gross stuff, kidnapping, murder, dismemberment, r*pe, scamming, you get the idea)
- 4 men from different country kidnapping other man from different country on territory of our country and keeping him hostage for 2 days and then pretending they’re victims here because he supposedly scammed them with false registration papers.
- two ex-prisoners meeting around new year for drinks, one calls other a ‘cock’ (aka really insulting thing for those who went to prison, means you’re at bottom (in every sense) of prison hierarchy), so he stabs him in heart and throws his body on balcony where it stays freezing for 2 weeks. Then he takes a saw and dismember him, was able to drag hands and legs on ground floor but was caught by police when dragged wrapped up torso.
- a man breaking other person’s skull open with a brick just because he wanted to see real brain. he saw, then vomited and lost consciousness.
- a drug addict who was caught on scene, had an insane drawback when we were arresting him in court, almost broke my arm and stabbed me with a pen.
- a man coming to court completely wasted and explaining himself by ‘you see your honor, I’m an artist, an artists are either drunkards or gays…’
- Santa Barbara in a form of a married couple having weird ass r*pe(???) because he did force her to some gross shit and she told about it her mom and her mom told to grandma who informed cops but now she asks not to sent him to prison because apparently it was consensual???
- son hitting his mother so bad she almost died so she went to police to write a report on him thinking he’ll be sent to serve 15 days by administrating law, but ended up serving 7 years for attempted murder. she broke down in tears and begged not to jail him.
- my neighborhood growing hallucinogenic mushrooms because he’s ‘an artist and needed a psychological stimulation’ and apparently he had twenty jars full of dried mushrooms and when asked why so many for himself he told ‘it’s winter investment’
- delusional woman blaming delusional man who said he wanted to have children with her. she’s 50, man is 23 and he was terrified of her.
- judge leaving court room for final verdict and defendant pulled out a razor from his mouth and threatened to cut his throat open. police and jailers weren’t able to calm him down, it was 9 at evening, I wanted to go home so I yelled at him to behave because it would’ve been a pain in ass to explain to boss why defendant suicided here. two floors heard me yelling. I had a bottle of champagne after that.
- two men arguing outside of our court room who fucked which wife until I came out and told them that police will fuck them both if they won’t shut the fuck up.
- convicted underage children rapist complimenting me and being disgustingly sweet simply because I look like I’m 16 even though I’m 23 when I enter his jail cell.
- a woman almost stabbing a man to death after he spotted her throwing his food out of fridge to street from window. it all started because of sausages and he himself almost became one.
- a woman being blamed for stabbing her roommate even if said roommate constantly beaten her so badly she resembled a fucking panda and she stabbed him out of stress. everyone was confused while hearing who was who.
- ex prisoner visiting us after he served his sentence, gifting is nice chocolate and a champagne (it’s still in my closet tho) and then smooching my cheek.
- me getting almost stabbed by romani’s mother (whom we jailed) but blocking it by crime law codex (jinchul was right book IS a weapon, both offensive and defensive). me then yelling at her that I’m 1/4 romani too for fucks sake.
- a drunk step father hitting boys’ drunk mother so hard she lost consciousness, he wanted to drag her to bed so he did it by dragging her by hair and having her head hit every corner, ended up giving up on his idea and went to buy more alcohol. returned home to find her cold dead body and two boys an orphans who we ended up to make testify.
- Genshin case. just Genshin case. Man took bank debt through his friend’s card, ended up rolling on Dehya banner to C6 her. Cringe levels were over9000.

There’s a rumor the building next door is going to make their grassy area, that literally everyone within 4-6 blocks uses if they have a dog, for residents of that building only. It is going to be unpopular with residents in this building and the one next door. They want to make it an EVICTABLE offense if people from our building take their dogs next door. Not sure how they plan to enforce that? Literally everyone has been using it for years without issue.
It’s also a safety concern. People, especially women, can’t walk their dogs on the street out front because dickheads harass us. One woman reported that a dude threw some kind of fire crackers or poppers at her little dog. She asked him why and he said he just wanted to get her attention and talk to her. She responded by grabbing his phone and throwing it on the train tracks. When he went to get his phone she grabbed her dog and ran. I never walk down the side streets at night. I often cut through that grassy area for safety. And all the neighborhood dogs play together over there! It’s a bad idea!!

Hey there, @jmtorres.
We’re afraid to say that while we love this idea, we don’t quite have the time or resources to work on it right now.
Never fear, however, as blocking users is otherwise an incredibly simple process! From your mobile or web dashboard, you can just open the user’s blog by clicking or tapping on the avatar, open the meatballs menu, and select “Block.” You can also use the meatballs menu on any post in your dashboard to block a blog.
You can find more on blocking right here, at our Help Center.

I'll probably delete this later... but I just wanted to come on here to vent a little bit. So please be aware. THIS IS A VENT. I AM SAD AND EMOTIONAL AND UPSET AND I WILL SAY THINGS THAT MAY SOUND HARSH. PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN READING AND DONT READ IF IT WILL MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE!! (TL:DR at the end)
You have been warned
When I got into TWST probably two years ago now, there was so much room and potential for wonderful fan interactions and creations. And I have had wonderful interactions with wonderful people from this fandom and I will continue to treasure those I've met through it.
I love everything about TWST. The lore, the characters, the art, the story. It means so much to me as a piece of media and is a huge inspiration to me as both an artist and a writer. Idia in particular speaks to me on personal levels and he has become one of my favourite characters in all of media.
TWST has also taught me about love. Love for who you are despite what others think. Familial love (blood or no). Love between friends. TWST has taught me about bravery, protecting those you love, sticking to your ambitions, sacrifice and surprisingly cooking and food heh. TWST has also made me laugh like a maniac in the way only one other piece of media ever could (aha I'm so funny).
I was aware, however, that it would have it's issues just like any other fandom.
For one, I was VERY aware of Yana's rocky history as a creator. I knew she was controversial from the start and anything she created would subsequently also be very controversial. In the end, while I do disagree heavily with some parts of the media and I knew Yana could have done so much better with other parts (cough-leona event- cough), I think she did a great job overall. You can tell how much love and dedication went into creating TWST and I'm eternally thankful to her. Thank you, Yana-sensei.
For second...
I feel that you should be allowed to create and say whatever you want, but also take responsibility (to a certain extent) for the thing you created. For instance, if I make a piece of art and post it on the internet, that is my responsibility. I could choose NOT to post the piece of art (nasty comment, offensive joke etc etc etc but you get the idea), but I chose to do it anyway. Now, I can't completely control what people will do with the art (comment/post etc), but I still chose to post it. Same with this post. I CHOSE to post this, and I am ready to take responsibility for this post. If you're not ready to accept responsibility for your post, DON'T POST. As simple as that. (But alas nothing is ever simple)
There is a sore lack of responsibility it the TWST fandom (in any fandom, really, but this is about TWST specifically). Maybe less so here, but definitely so on other platforms.
People throw around nasty and downright hurtful jokes and comments like it's confetti, but cry and whine that they're innocent when called out about it. This is especially hurtful to the smaller, less represented groups in the fandom who create content they want to see. My advice? If you see something you don't agree with, mute, block and report if necessary and just move along. No one is forcing you to interact with what that person is making. A lot of hurt and asshole-ery would be avoided if people followed this simple rule.
I've also seen people throw hate to younger artists or members of the fandom and this always upsets me. TWST is especially prone to having a younger audience due to it being a Disney property, and that's FINE. Leave them be. They're not hurting anyone.
And finally, the amount of misinformation and misinterpretations of the TWST characters floating around is practically insulting. I've seen so many just plain wrong interpretations of a character or a line and I'm frankly sick of it. There are so many hard working and dedicated translators working their asses off to translate the game and put it on the internet for free. (Note: I am eternally grateful to the EN translation team for doing their absolute best on TWST EN. While it's still a solid translation, it has several big flaws and misses a lot of character nuances. I'd still recommend anyone getting into TWST to read the JP translations along with EN)
Here are my go to, feel free to add your own:
-TWST Wiki/Miraheze (always. These people are powerhouses)
- YuuRei (Twitter and YT). They make excellent analysis and translations.
-Shell_BB (YT)
-Otome Ayui (YT)
So, in closing... (TL:DR)
The internet sucks. People suck. Get used to it. Protect yourself and your mental health and move along.
TWST has flaws, and that's FINE.
Respect eachother
Take responsibility for what you say or post
Kids will be cringe. Leave them be. You were cringe too.
Read. Please. I beg of you.
SUPPORT THE PEOPLE I MENTIONED. THEY'RE WORKING THEIR ASSES OFF FOR US, THEY DESERVE THE WORLD.
Anyway, thanks for reading all that and sorry for the long vent. A cookie and a hug for you.
Now go forth and have a great day/night on purpose!!⭐🩷

BY AMANDA MARCOTTE
Republicans know exactly what they believe is the greatest threat to American students: books.
In Florida, the possibility of a student choosing a book to read was deemed so threatening that teachers were ordered to lock up all the books until they could be — slowly, painfully — combed over by censors. Now, as the censors make their way through the books at a snail's pace, word of what has been officially banned from shelves thus far is starting to trickle out. Unsurprisingly, in a state controlled by a retentive fascist like Gov. Ron DeSantis, the books deemed too dangerous to read mostly involve ideas like "gay couples exist" and "there was once a civil rights movement." As Tom Fontaine of Trib Live reports:
"PEN America, a New York-based nonprofit that works to defend free expression, reported the district had removed at least 176 titles from classrooms. They include works such as ‘My Two Dads and Me,’ ‘My Two Moms and Me,’ ‘Celebrating Different Beliefs,’ ‘The Gift of Ramadan,’ ‘The Berenstain Bears and the Big Question’ and books about Rosa Parks, the Underground Railroad and Japanese internment camps during World War II.
Also removed was ‘Roberto Clemente: The Pride of the Pittsburgh Pirates,’ a 2005 book by Dormont's Jonah Winter.
The 32-page book references racism Clemente sometimes endured."
Republicans are also deeply worried that a child might enjoy a drag queen story hour, in which drag performers use their skills at entertaining a crowd to get kids excited about reading. The threat that a funny person in a flashy costume might make a child happy is such that Republicans in state legislatures are considering bans so draconian that they could criminalize merely being a trans person in public or wearing makeup on a stage.
Of course, considering the Republican hostility to children reading, the "story hour" may be as offensive to them as the "drag" part.
The nation woke on Tuesday to familiar news that doesn't get any less disturbing, despite being painfully common. There was another mass shooting, this time at Michigan State. A gunman left three dead and five more critically injured. This is in a year where there has been an average of more than one mass shooting a day. At least one of the survivors of this latest shooting also survived a mass shooting 14 months ago at Oxford High School.
At this point, the Republican callousness to the carnage is so baked in that it barely feels worth remarking upon. Nor is this just a matter, as so many claim, of Republicans being too "afraid" of the NRA to stand up for meaningful gun safety laws. As I've written about before, there's plenty of reason to believe that the reason Republicans block most efforts to prevent mass shootings is that they benefit politically from both the feelings of helplessness and social decay that such shootings sow in the public.
"Please don't tell me you care about the safety of children if you are not willing to have a conversaion about keeping them safe in a place that should be a sanctuary," Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who represents the Michigan district the shooting happened in, said during an emotionally raw press conference Tuesday morning. She didn't need to elaborate on who claims to "care" about children but certainly does not.
We've been subject to a yearslong effort to ban books and gut the rights of LGBTQ people, all justified by GOP claims to be "protecting" children. The College Board, under pressure from DeSantis and the larger Republican establishment, has even gone so far as to remove books by renowned writers and poets like bell hooks, June Jordan, and Ta-Nehisi Coates from an African-American studies course. The excuse is that the fragile self-esteem of white students cannot withstand learning about the realities of racism.
But while Republicans fret and moan over the supposed damage done to students' minds by learning that racism happens or LGBTQ people exist, the much more real danger that comes from a bullet tearing through a body is not considered a priority. In the Republican imagination, a high school or college student is too delicate to read about the Holocaust or slavery, but should also be tough enough to stand up to an armed madman mowing down kids with a semiautomatic weapon. And if such kids do survive the kind of graphic violence that Republicans believe they're too sensitive to read about, then such kids are also expected to be tough enough to endure members of Congress like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., denying the violence ever happened and harassing those who survived it.
After last year's shooting in Uvalde, Texas — which left 19 kids and two teachers dead — a handful of Republicans decided it was becoming politically untenable to maintain the "thoughts and prayers, but nothing can be done" position that has characterized the party for so long. So 15 Republican Senators crossed the aisle to vote for a gun safety bill last June. The Beltway media, longing for a narrative of bipartisan comity, swooned rapturously over this supposed evolution away from sociopathic disregard towards gun violence towards something more humane.
But, at the cost of sounding overly cynical, the whole thing was probably more of a ploy to get people off their backs than anything else.
For one thing, for every Senate Republican who did vote for the bill, there were more than two who refused. Second, while there were some good items in the law that President Joe Biden signed last summer — especially closing the "boyfriend" loophole that let domestic abusers buy guns — the legislation stops well short of what's needed to keep guns out of the hands of unhinged people who want to shoot up nightclubs, schools, and shopping malls.
To make it worse, what little Republicans are willing to do in Congress is in real danger of being dismantled by Republicans in the federal courts.
The same week Congress passed their watered-down gun safety bill, the six Republican Supreme Court justices overturned a New York state law that is over 100 years old, which restricted who can carry guns in public. As Slate's legal expert Mark Joseph Stern wrote at the time, the decision rests on "a maximalist opinion by Justice Clarence Thomas that renders most of the nation's gun control laws presumptively unconstitutional."
Sure enough, other Republican-controlled federal courts took note. Earlier this month, the Fifth Circuit used Thomas's decision as a pretext to rule against a law barring domestic abusers from owning guns. This law not only protects the lives of women who are being stalked by former partners, but it's useful in preventing mass shootings. Over half of mass shooters had a known history of domestic violence. Sadly, many of them were able to commit their crimes by taking advantage of the pro-gun, anti-woman views of local Republican politicians, who won't enforce existing gun laws. That appears, for instance, to be the case in the Club Q shooting in Colorado Springs in December. The suspect had been previously arrested after a reported domestic violence incident involving his mother, but the right-wing sheriff who had bragged about being a gun rights absolutist did not enforce a law allowing the government to take the shooter's guns from him.
When faced with the carnage that their gun fanaticism inflicts on our nation, Republicans will often pretend that their hands are tied by the constitution. The GOP cowards who rule against the ban on wife beaters owning guns used this excuse. The court claimed there is no "historical tradition of firearm regulation" regarding domestic violence and that therefore they are forced — forced I tell you! — to believe the Second Amendment's language about a "well-regulated militia" somehow covers unregulated, non-militia wife beaters.
This feigned constitutional absolutism is ridiculous on its face. It's even more obviously a lie in the context of GOP enthusiasm for book banning. Unlike the Second Amendment, which puts strong limits ("well-regulated militia") on the right to bear arms, the First Amendment grants Americans expansive rights to free speech. It very clearly states that there should be "no law...abridging the freedom of speech." That's without caveat, unlike the Second Amendment. And there are certainly no exceptions for "unless it offends the bigoted sentiments of Ron DeSantis."
Most of all, of course, this exposes how Republicans are only interested in controlling students, not protecting them. The threat of the targeted books is not to students, who will only benefit from learning more about the world around them. The threat is to the fragile egos of the right-wing bigots who make up the Republican base. This focus on control also explains the GOP's disinterest in doing anything to save students from mad gunmen. They may be saddened by a dead child, but they aren't threatened by them. A murdered child, after all, is unlikely to think for themselves, much less grow up to vote against Republicans. And ultimately, that's all the GOP is really worried about when they talk about "the children."
