@writing-nothing-but-spilled-ink inspired me! I’m gonna make a post about who would be the Batfams godly parents if they were the Percy Jackson universe. (With minimal explanation and mostly based off of fanon content and my limited canon knowledge)

starting with Bruce: Athena. I think his intellect and strategy had to come from somewhere, and Athena is the goddess of strategic war. I could also see Themus, goddess of law and order, or Dike, the goddess of Justice.

Babs: Phoebe. Also referred to as the Oracle of Delphi, she sees all and knows all.

Dick: Harmonia. He is always trying to keep the peace with everyone and make them happy together it seems.

Cass: Eirene, the goddess of Peace. Also really good at keeping the peace and bringing people together.

Jason: Apollo. He is a reader and a writer, I would not put it past him to be a theater kid too. Do you see how dramatic he is?

Steph: Hermes. Child of mischief and she is witty. I could see an argument for Dionysus too.

Tim: I think Athena as well. If anyone can go head to head with Bruce’s intellect, I would say it would be Tim. Ironically I could see Hypnos or Charon and their relationship with dreams and sleep.

Duke: Apollo or Hyperion. Mostly with his powers of Light, but I could also see him being a son of Erebos because of their manipulation of the Darkness, or Nyx and her powers of the Night.

Damian: at first I would think Ares because of his arrogance and entitlement. But with his love of conservation and animals and nature I could also see him being a child of Demeter.

Alfred: even as a maiden goddess, I agree that Hestia would be Alfred’s godly parent. But I could also see a case for Ares as a wild card. He is fiercely protective of those he loves, and so is Ares. Also as a field medic for the army he could be a child of Asclepius.

Anyway, it's time for an Athelstan fic rec list:

So Deep the Water by themus This one has got to be up there with my favourite Vikings fics I've read so far. I don't want to spoil it too much (though I know I've mentioned it elsewhere on my blog in a bit more detail) but it centers around Athelstan, Gyda, and Bjorn and it is INTENSE. Talk about everything that could go wrong, going wrong. As I understand it it's also the first part in an unfinished series, so fingers crossed for a part 2 one day!!

Under Cover of Night by Librarina Modern AU time!!! It's funny, its In Character As Fuck, it's sweet, it's sexy, if you're looking for an Athelstan/Ragnar/Lagertha university AU you're in for a treat.

Viking Death Trip by Guede Ok LISTEN this one is, as the tags say, crack treated seriously. Semi-canon-compliant-world-AU. I don't want to give it away too much. it's SO WELL WRITTEN though. And a little bit insane. Yeah. It's a fun one.

Where It's Wild by MoreProfoundSwan Another WIP, and this one really blew me away with how intensely researched it was. The author clearly Knows what they're talking about and it's so so engaging to read.

a season for all things by with_the_monsters This one is unfinished and hasn't been updated since 2013 DX but it's so worth it. Basically my inspiration for that modern skiing AU I'm totally not working on. It's what it sounds like -- Athelstan tries to teach the Lothbrok kids how to ski, and gets absorbed into their slightly unhinged family dynamic. It's adorable.

Dragged into the Undertow by @eriexplosion A VERY angst filled account of Athelstan's journey from England to the north, that I was captivated by at every turn. It made my brain rotate violently inside my skull.

Just One Thing the Martyr Wants to Say by @eriexplosion Gah yes it's you again. More angst (this time with a smidge more of hurt/comfort?), nightmares, Fun Stuff. I go back to this one time and again to sate my need to make Athelstan suffer.

Storm-tossed by @angesradieux I had to include this one because it was one of the first Vikings fics I ever read!! ! More angst and h/c, of course. All their work is fantastic, PLEASE check them out.

And of course I gotta shout out Heorte til Heorte by @procrastinatingsoicanreadfanfics and See You Tomorrow by @starrose17, both recent multichapters that rewired my brain chemistry. Former is Athelstan/OC, latter is Athelnar.

Ohohoho... mmmmm... that's a hard one. For now, I'd say Themus, one of the MCs of my very first original novel which I call Project Goddess. I never finished Project Goddess (and I intend to reboot it at some point), but I fell in love with him.

Themus is (at least in the original novel, this may change) a death god. He's one of the many minor gods and goddesses that the One True God, Ilaiyah, created to help her manage the world. Death gods were creatures who had seen and understood death, blessed by Ilaiyah on their dying breaths. They have the duty to eat the unfulfilled dreams and the regretful memories of the people who had died, so it does not bring havoc on the living. Thus they are also called dream eaters.

Themus was a human who grew up in time of war, very very long ago. His personality is cynical. He tends to act like he doesn't care as a coping mechanism, having to see so many deaths as part of his job. He likes to pretend he's more evil than he actually is, and he is dangerous, but he is just a baby once you got past his mask. He's also very very bi. And trans! Because of course he is. uwu

Louisiana: 2022-23 Sun Belt Men's Basketball Champions

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Themus Fulks scored a career-high 23 points, Jordan Brown had 13 points and 16 rebounds and second-seeded Louisiana beat No. 8 seed South Alabama 71-66 on Monday night to claim the Sun Belt Conference tournament championship.

Louisiana (26-7) secured its 11th NCAA tournament berth and first since 2014.

Louisiana's first lead of two points or more came with 12:06 remaining in the second half on a putback by Terence Lewis II for a 49-46 advantage.

After South Alabama went 1 of 2 from the free throw line, Jalen Dalcourt made a jumper in the lane with 27.7 seconds left to extend Louisiana's lead to 67-64. The Jaguars struggled all game from the stripe, going 17 of 28.

Isaiah Moore made two free throws with 17.1 seconds left to get South Alabama within 67-66, but Lewis answered with two makes at the other end to regain a three-point advantage. South Alabama guard Owen White had a long 3-pointer rattle out in the closing seconds, and Kentrell Garnett sealed it with two free throws at 1.4.

Dalcourt finished with 13 points and Lewis added 12 points for the Ragin' Cajuns. Dalcourt and Fulks each made three of Louisiana's eight 3-pointers.

South Alabama (19-16), which knocked off No. 1 seed Southern Miss 78-61 on Saturday, was going for its first NCAA tournament berth since 2008.

Moore scored a career-high 33 points for South Alabama. Kevin Samuel had two blocks in the first half to set a South Alabama single-season record with 86. Samuel also scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Moore, averaging 18.5 points per game, scored 13 of South Alabama's opening 20 points to help build a six-point lead. The Jaguars led 37-33 at halftime behind 63% shooting and Moore's 16 points.
