i think wambus most definitely overworks himself, believing that he alone is responsible for keeping the whole town fed by tending to the garden, so may i suggest: the reader helping wambus realize he’s allowed to rest, and take a day off to relax and take care of himself?

A/N: Heya everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in anything in the past few days ^^’. I promise I’m doing my best to work on requests! I’m typing this as I’m heading to a photoshoot, so I’m being a bit brief. Still, I hope you enjoy the fic, and thanks for sticking around!!

Wambus x Reader (Take a Break)

Wambus plowed the dirt in front of him, his breath ragged from the work. He stood a second, despite his better judgment, to lean on his hoe, wiping sweat from his brow. The farmer had been at it for hours now. His crops had let up a pretty fortunate amount, but he couldn’t rest yet.

There was a more drastic need for a garden with Lizbert’s disappearance from the island. Their main food source had disappeared, and while he did think Filbo’s new friend was busy getting everyone back, he needed to to supply them with something to eat should the worst happen. He sighed, heaved his hoe, and made another plow in the ground.

“Lot of plowing you’re doing.”

He paused, looking up at you, leaning on the garden fence. He gave a slight smile.

“Maybe a bit. Not like we don’t need it.”

You hummed in response, and Wambus continued to work. This was routine between you two, just him working away while keeping a conversation with you.

“You know you can take a break, right?”

Wambus paused. “Pardon?”

“For the past few days, from way earlier than you normally wake, to nearly dawn, you’ve been plowing away at this garden, ripe with crops. I can’t help but wonder if you know you’re allowed to take a break.”

Wambus laughed. “Sorry, but, uh…this garden feeds the whole town-”

“You feed three people. Gramble, Shelda and that journalist running around.”

Wambus flinched. You sighed. “Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that.” You apologize, massaging your head. “I just…You need a break Wambus.”

He spat on the ground. “Dunno what’re on about. ‘M fine.”

“Your hands are literally shaking.”

The farmer blinked at your deadpan and checked his hands. Sure enough, they weren't…in the best shape, shaking badly. He shook his head though. “That’s nuthin.”

“Wambus, your breath is ragged, you look exhausted and you probably haven dranken anything-”

“I had some water this morin’!”

“- in the past few hours.”

Wambus grimaced. You had him there. He leaned his hoe against the fence and sighed, walking towards you.

“Listen, partner. I’m fine. I know you think I should be ‘takin’ breaks’ or whatever, but the fact of the matter is that ever since Liz has been gone, there hasn't been a reliable way to catch Bugsnax! I gotta keep the town fed.”

“For Grump’s sake, look around you!” You wave your hands at the expansive garden. “You don’t think that’s enough, just for a night?!”

“Another earthquake could happen.”

“Snorpy’s been keeping track of seismic activity, we’re fine.”

“I ain’t trustin’ the ramblings of a nutjob!” He bit back. You took a deep breath.

“Wambus Troubleham. You have. Five seconds. To surrender willingly, or pay the consequences.”

“I’m sorry?”

“Five, four, three-” Wambus rolled his eyes as you started to count, turning back to head to farmining again. “-two, one!”

He felt himself get tugged down, yelping as you dragged him by his collar.

“H-hey! What the heck are ya doin’?!” He cried out. Suprisingly, he felt too weak to properly struggle against you.

“Putting you to rest, you stubborn mule!” You retorted, entering his and Triffany’s hut and dragging him onto his bed. Wambus landed face first, and was suddenly overcome with incredible weariness. He groaned.

“Ugh…my back…my arms…”

“Feel that? That’s what happens when you neglect yoyurself for too long. You can’t help anybody in this state, now can you?” You scolded him.

“....No.”

“That’s right.” You huff. “Now, get some rest, wise guy. Your farm ain’t going nowhere.”

Wambus heard you walk off and out of the hut. And despite his mind screaming at him, for once, Wambus didn’t want to get up. You were right. He had been ignoring himself a tad too long, hadn’t he? Maybe…Maybe he’d just take a few minutes to himself. Just a few…..

He closed his eyes, unaware of his body already heading towards a nice long and well needed slumber.

Kakashi is shocked the first time someone tells him why he lets Gai follow him around like a lovesick puppy. He looks at the stupid, severely surprised.

I'm sure it's the other way around, Kakashi thinks, but obviously doesn't say it. He just looks at the ninja in front of him and tells him to mind his own business.

That conversation was almost completely forgotten in Kakashi's mind until a month later, Tenzō asks him almost the same thing, more politely. Kakashi is spared the answer when the youngest and most promising member, Itachi, begins to praise Gai's abilities with clear admiration and possibly a small crush.

Kakashi just walks away from the scene, thinking there's no need to say anything else, but he can't stop thinking about it.

Is that what people see in his relationship with Gai? That Gai is Kakashi's big fan who follows him everywhere while Kakashi just puts up with him? He's not going to kid himself and say it wasn't that way in the beginning, but it certainly didn't last that long until the places were swapped.

Gai always liked to be effusive with everyone, and that was normal for him. Kakashi wasn't really a special case, just a down-on-his-luck bastard with genius, and a slight obsession with his optimistic rival, who has a dangerous attraction to anything that leads him to get hurt.

Kakashi doesn't know how people don't see that it's Kakashi who chases Gai, trying to meet him on the street "by chance", reaching under the table when they eat so he can touch him with his feet, taking care of him when Gai comes badly injured from a mission and Kakashi's only thought is to kill the bastard who touched him. When the first thing he does when he sees him is greet him and approach him, and if Gai wins and approaches Kakashi first, he always leans into him, brushing their shoulders and sometimes the backs of their hands. Sometimes he feels like he's a hair's breadth away from being accused of stalking when he's on surveillance and watching him on cameras or spying on him from the trees, but he really can't help it.

He follows Gai, he needs Gai. Gai is the unreachable sun and he is just a cold mountain, never worthy enough to receive more than its rays of light.

They all have it wrong.

“Hair holds memories”

He remembers who he was. His friends, the ones he called his family. The land that adopted him when he was a cursed outsider. But every time he looked at himself in the mirror, he didn’t see that teen that loved adventuring, he didn’t see that kid with terrible luck, he didn’t see the baby that was abandoned so he could have a better chance at life. He was still blonde, but his tips faded to red. He had green eyes, but every time he used his power, they turned red. He had a Pyro Vision, but it was fake. He had two Mondstadt Visions, but they were blank. He was alone.

He was no longer a child. He had died many times, and he had been reborn from the ashes the same amount. Others would compare him to a fenix, but those were powerful and perfect creatures. He was born from fire, war and death. He was far from perfect. He wasn’t a fenix, he was a Quetzalcoatl, a dragon of feathers and power. He was the last one too, which didn’t help. He was useless.

His name was Eligos, God of Death, Pyro Archon and Emperor of Natlan. But all those titles meant nothing if he was alone. What a shame.

They had told him hair holds memories. He never cut it. Maybe his mind was losing those moments, but at least some part of him would still have them. Death waits for no one, and its god is far too tired to care anymore. He used to be a happy boy. Now he’s just the shell of who he thinks he was.

Eligos had killed Bennett and he will never know if it was worth it.

Ethan Walker HCS!

as I promised in JJ's hc post, baby boy ethan's here!

(this time theyre not all are really connected to the lore post, but they may be confusing; so check it out if you haven't!)

he seems shy at first, but he's pretty chill if you leave a good impression on him

when he's shy, he speaks really quietly and only Jenna can understand him (and Lloyd, of course)

he may not have so much trauma now, but *looks at his older self* ohoho he will

when he was born, everyone had spoiled him so much, and Jenna kept playing with him at every chance she got!

he loves collecting pebbles! sometimes he'll go out to the monastery courtyard and just collect some of those pebbles he finds on the ground

with how he never left the monastery before, he can't imagine how big the world actually is, and he doesn't quite understand it, until he went to the crossroads for the first time

during those 5 years, Lloyd was practically his father figure since he had no one else, he knew he was his uncle of course but his mind couldn't process the fact that his actual father was Jay, never even knowing him (atleast properly)

he also has a big obsession for animals, he hated how he never saw them in real life but loved learning about them and watching documentries! (It bores Jenna to death)

his favourite animals are cheetahs, he always calls Jenna a 'cheetah' because of how fast she is

plus, whenever Lloyd goes to the crossroads to get some stuff, he sometimes brings him an animal plush when he could, so he has a literal collection of them

he also has little animal minifugures and ninja minifigures, too!

his room's walls' were also painted by Jenna! there's some landscapes too and alot of animals

unlike Jenna, he doesn't have that big of an intrest in drawing, but he does have a secret intrest in writing

he loves to embroider too!

he also only learns to draw for the purpose of drawing animals

he'll come out as bi in the future, continuing the chain of The Bi Walkers™

he hogs the TV from Jenna and tells her to use her phone instead, he loves to play videogames on it (and will soon become a master)

he usually watches Jenna and Lloyd when they train, most of the time it's out of boredom

when Jenna tells him about her time at school, he doesn't really like the idea of school because of the amount of people, he prefers studying with Lloyd

he didn't really like Kai at first, but he didn't say anything and made an attempt to spend time with him

same thing with Zane, but he was so amazed when se saw him for the first time and would ask him to make him some small sculptures

he loves books! he borrowed alot of of them from the team and Lloyd would get him his own books, too

he secretly prefers the romance ones, and will have collections of that genre in the future

unlike Jenna, he isn't that afraid of blood

he's actually a bit afraid of water, the first time he went to a pool he screamed and did not want to go in

he got used to it after a while and became a somewhat good swimmer, but still got an uneasy feeling whenever he's around it

that was also one of the reasons why he couldn't control his powers

he, Finn, and Noah's usual movie on their movie nights is a sappy Cliff Gordon romance movie, they never get bored of it lmao

he loves being carried!! he always asks either Jenna or Lloyd to carry him, and when his 5 new siblings came along Noah was carrying him almost all the time and he loved it, throw him in the air and he'll laugh like crazy (baby boy 😭)

another point added to the 'touch starved jayling' chart, he LOVES hugs and would never give up the chance to hug someone! he loves getting a whole lot of kisses too

he loves to help in the kitchen whenever he could from his love of cooking, and is extremely obsessed with muffins

his favourite colour isn't red or blue either, he really really loves orange for some reason, the clothes he's wearing is just clothing borrowed from Jenna's old ones!

he also stole that smile pin from Jenna, which was originally Jay's

he also took that headband when he one time snuck into Nya's locked room, his fringes annoy him alot so he wears it almost all the time, Nya was suprised when she saw him wearing it

is very inquisitive and curious, he'll never shut up if he has a question or notices something

he hates seeing someone distressed, and tries to comfort them the best he could

he's that sibling that would listen to your rants without ever getting bored, he loves listening to people rant, and would gladly listen to you if you need to talk about something

he knows about Jenna's PTSD, he doesn't know the full backstory but knows that whenever she needs alone time, he needs to leave her alone

when they reunited with Nya, he was still a bit wary of her and left Jenna to spend most of his time with her, but he quickly got used to having her around

Jay wasn't the smoothest thing either, Ethan did not want to be around him because he already had a bad impression on him

is obviously the baby of the siblings, literally no one can hate this little guy

he was afraid of Kaida too, and he didn't like the way she and Jenna fought, he'd always get scared when they did

he was also afraid of Kaida, Quinn and Tessa of taking Jenna's place as his older sister, he didn't understand that they were all his sisters

but once he did, he was pretty close to Kaida especially!

he, Kaida and Noah share their immense love for animals, and Noah always reads him his animal books along with Kaida

he also tags along Tessa and Noah when they watch animal planet

he absolutely loves hoodies and jackets, and when he saw all the sisters with their aviator jackets he so badly wanted one too

he doesn't really like pranks and thinks theyre rude, he'd only tag along if they're harmless

Jenna and Kaida taught him how to use insults, no regrets lmao

Quinn loves him to death, she loves borrowing his headband!

Kaida also teaches him how to use a gun, he literally gets so excited when she does

Tessa also uses him as a benchpress, he's so small she can literally benchpress him with one hand

there's never a time you won't find Noah carrying him or having him on his shoulders when they spend time together

he becomes the best cook out of his siblings, 10/10s every single time

in the future, he volunteers in orphanages, animal farms and schools while JJ became an actress!

he also becomes one of the tall siblings, maxing at 5'8 oh boy

his future partner is Tyra Karmakar (old oc), he has a taste for women that could kick his ass lmao

and there we go! I might add on to this too if I get anymore ideas, but finally here's some more info about our sunshine boy!!

Yesterday my friend was telling me a story about how he drank eight shots of tequila mixed with two energy drinks and then woke up without a hangover and went to work just fine. And we were joking about how the shock of two energy drinks and the shock of 1.5 cups of straight tequila probably canceled each other out when he looked me dead in the eye and very seriously said “Don’t drink until you’re twenty-one and do it responsibly” like an older sibling suddenly getting protective. This man is only a few months older than me and also is not twenty-one yet.

Anyways it gives me Jack Kelly vibes cause you know that boy is constantly lecturing the younger newsies (they are three months younger) about how to be safe while you’re out selling and to stay away from drugs and alcohol and Charlie is just there in the background recounting every idiotic thing Jack has done in the past week alone

I wanna talk about California, Texas, and my headcannon of their past friendship

Their friendship started when they were pretty new and it was great!

Cali would come over to visit while Texas was supposed to be doing chores and they'd run off to play

They were the best of friends, doing all the shenanigans and hijinks and the comforting when need be. And arguments, but those aren't so serious when you're a child

California would call him Bonnie and Texas would call him Poppy

They made eachother friendship bracelets out of old twine and rope they had found after a particularly exciting adventure

Something happened, Texas had to move. Maybe it was when he went under a diffrent rule, and California couldn't come along

Now Cali had always been bad with abandonment, even if this was one of his earliest experiences with it. He was a lonely child

Texas didn't want to leave, but he decided cutting Cali off before he had to leave wouldn't make him going hurt either of them. Cali begged him not to, and then they got in their first serious fight. The friendship ended on pretty bad terms, they both said some shit, but Cali more then

Texas was wrong, he thought it would be better for both of them but it just made everything worse

The next day Cali went over to Texas's house, maybe to apologize, maybe to tell hin off he didn't know. Texas but he was gone. They'd left sometime that night

Maybe this was for the better. He never liked Texas anyway

California had heard of Texas gaining state hood, and it made him a little bit hopeful, as he might see him again, but that was soon overrun by bitterness

They didn't see eachother again until California became a state, almost 5 years after Texas. They met at the party afterwards, nothing more then a handshake and cold stares and fake smiles. They pretended it was the first time they had seen eachother. If might as well have been, they'd changed so much

They grew to hate eachother, the constant yelling matches about politics. Cali hated Texas and his backwards views and his dumb face and his stupid insults and roundabout arguments. Texas hated Cali and his holier then thou attitude, and his smug face and his need to be better then everyone and his sucking up to people.

But what's more is they missed their best friend. The friendship bracelets were kept and hidden, excused as random pieces of junk they won't part with. The last time any nickname was used it was spat out as an insult and a power move. Their relationship friend wise is fucked and they know it. They still sometimes have small moments of peace, where they can pretend it's like it used to be, and it gives them hope

The TV universe was kind to me, instead of a head over heels episode I got the comeback kid episode, building character development and victory music playing 😎 I WON YAYAY 8-7

She waved to me and I waved back, but she played doubles and I played singles so I didn’t have to face her🥳 I didn’t get a chance to talk to her at all actually, but we’re playing that school again next week tho sooooo I’m not out of the woods yet BUT PHEW FOR NOW
