There are currently only 3 BGM tracks that feature vocals. Two of these tracks are unnamed and unreleased, but sung by main/major characters. Kohane sings a solo song in Kick it up a notch, and Taiga sings a solo song in Light Up the Fire.

One of these tracks is quite unusual. It was featured in the RE:START from Here! event and was released on the first OST under the title Nijiiro Garland (see video at the top of post). The singer is not a named character (it's sung by the idol that inspired Airi when she was a child), and the voice actor also goes uncredited. It's unknown why this is the only instance of an unnamed character singing a BGM track, let alone being the only instance of a vocal BGM track for over two years until the Kohane song was used.

#project sekai #restart was one of the first events worked on #in nayutalien's interview he said he was commissioned when they had barely anything to tell him and basically just after the project had #entered the actual development stage. he wasn't even given a story for the event which is why MJM doesn't link to it #also the song mentions fragment of feelings in the lyrics. nayutalien made that up bc there was nothing in the game with that name yet lol #so maybe in these very very early stages they were going to have more vocal bgm tracks and then scrapped it

these are just my own headcanons for what music i think they all would listen to, if they had spotify back in the 70s.

i'd love to hear thoughts, if you agree, disagree, or think i should add any songs!

sirius: glam rock: bowie, queen, and t.rex. classic, vibey, with just a hint of gender.

remus: british punk: ian dury, the clash, x-ray specs. anger, anti-conformism, and activism. a little bit sexy, or so thinks sirius.

james: mostly prog rock: supertramp, electric light orchestra, and stealers wheel. what i would consider dad rock, easy to sing and dance to.

regulus: soft oldies: chet baker, edith piaf, and the platters. love songs with jazzy instrumentals and strong vocals. it's nostalgic to him. no one but james has even seen his music collection.

You hear about the one-hit wonder all the time, but you know what we need to discuss more? What I call "one-hit blunders". And no, I'm not talking about bad one-hit wonders.

I mean where the artist is actually really good, but not only did only one of their songs become popular, but it was the worst possible lone hit for them. Either the song just sucks, it's a really bad representation of the artist, or it's both.

this is so funny to me, majima really says "oh shit my bad" and immediately gives up, we love a "crazy" rival who can still read the room

#rambles #yakuza liveblogging #honestly ive been pleasantly surprised by majima #all i knew about him going into these games was that hes ~crazy~ and hes always trying to fight kiryu #so i kind of expected him to be a pretty one-note character and was glad to find out he's not #its way more fun that majima trying to fight kiryu so often isnt basically just one-sided harassment from majima #its a bit that theyre both in on and cool with (even if kiryu's role in the whole song & dance is to act annoyed and put upon)#and the bit immediately gets suspended when shit gets serious #theyve just got a much more compelling dynamic than i was expecting- didnt think theyd have much of a rapport (if any) outside of fighting #thought it be like kiryu beat majima once and made majima hell-bent on rematching kiryu until he won #but in reality majima only picks fights with kiryu *because of* their existing dynamic #and in fact pretty clearly throws some fights for kiryu's sake #idk. its neat! we love a little mutual respect

#listen this is SO fundamental to this blog #I'm pretty sure most people don't remember it but I started out as a ts2 blog over 10 years ago #I still have a ts2 sideblog but I mean I used to have a cringe ts2 era (affectionate) on this blog #and one of my favourite characters was ripp grunt #he was basically an emo boi and I projected a lot of my teenage angst and troubles on him too #and I always closely associated him with Simple Plan songs and wrote stories about him inspired by them #one was called Summer Paradise and had their lyrics as chapter titles #another one was inspired by Untitled (How could this happen to me?)#ahh the nostalgia #and these stories and their music are fundamental to my own growth too and I kind of want to hug my teenage self and tell her we made it😭#the concert was so so fuckin good and pierre and the other band members seem like such nice people #the next time maybe I'll get the VIP tickets to meet them backstage and build up confidence to tell them what they mean to me lol #nonsims #personal
