tumblr stop banning me (I have my account back now but leaving these posts and thread here for other struggling with this as it’s happening to others)

hey folks tumblr has once again blocked me from reblogging or posting anything, I’m so sorry. I’m again on my alt account that I luckily have linked to this one but please for the love of fuck get @staff s attention and get them fixing this problem.

this has gone on too long and it’s affecting people other then me! Please share share share and reblog and reblog and reblog, @ all you mutuals in the replies just do it!!! Likes don’t do shit for getting something fixed

I've had to block a lot of bots in the last few days, and I accidentally realized that some of the no-avatar no-post accounts, have some likes, and they might be real people.

I checked all of the other accounts for likes, and only blocked the ones who had absolutely nothing on their account. If you've made a tumblr account for the first time, and didn't change your avatar, didn't reblog or like anything, and you're just here to read things, that is 100% okay, and I would not want to block or report you for that.

However, tumblr has a problem where bot-accounts do a large-scale following, and then proceed to send spam, use the link to your blogs to promote themselves as 'real accounts', do promotions using your blog as link to a real person, and eventually you end up having to block them from messaging and harassing you. It's because of that we HAVE to block and report bots, they'll swarm and harass us otherwise. They're also skewing the numbers and making it impossible to tell how many actual real people are following and interacting with your blog.

So if you're new here, and just want to read, please put some kind of picture as your avatar, or put at least one single post on your blog, just to verify to the rest of us that you're real. I had more than 70 fake accounts follow me in the last few days and I'm mortified to imagine I accidentally blocked and reported an actual person.

you can remove tumblr live by adding

"www.tumblr.com##.RAEnv www.tumblr.com##.ADlDx"

to your filter list in ublock (omit quotation marks)

Did Tumblr really change the snooze tumblr live feature from 7 days to 30 but now the fucking thing doesn't even work? I've tried just turning it off and on, clearing the cache, trying again, trying multiple times in a row, restarting my phone. Nothing. The little live thing on the dashboard taunts me. Fuck off. Fix this broken ass site

But it’s not over yet, there has been heaps of other blogs who have experienced the same thing but did not have the reach or the community or the support I did in getting this issue solved.

Tumblr, although I’m grateful for being able to post again, you need to fix your spam trapper. It’s not working and causing real bots to slip through and banning and blocking real blogs.

where clicking on the url of the person a post was reblogged from brings you that person’s blog and not the specific reblog you’re trying to see

all of us who love tags and enjoy the “prev tags” way of interacting with our friends’ reblogs would like to see the prev post

also clicking on the url of the OP should bring us to the specific post, not OP’s blog. some of us love archive digging and reviving old posts. we want to see the specific post, not the most recent posts of OP.

I'm sorry if things have been confusing regarding the recent comic, I don't understand why Tumblr does what it does sometimes but whatever is going on with it eating people's posts and making them disappear from the dash really needs to be fixed if it's a bug, because this has been an ongoing issue, regardless of how many updates Tumblr has had. There really needs to be more people talking about this. It happens too frequently to me, and I know others who have experienced this as well, but I don't think it happens enough to people for Tumblr to address it cause it happens so randomly and selectively. But people really need to start complaining about it more. Because @staff it's been going on for a couple months now, something needs to be done :V

One shitty thing Tumblr does now (since they updated the for you tab) is take some posts from the dashboard and stick them in For You.

From my observation, posts, made less than 24 hours ago, won't show up on the dashboard but will show up in For You.

I'm from the Tumblr cohort who scroll down to the previous day's posts daily. I follow few enough people that this is feasible. I still keep missing posts unless I go into For You and I can't find any explanation other than posts selected for For You are being removed from the dashboard.

Now this could be a bug, but if so it seems somewhat easy to fix so I'm not counting on that.

Thing is, For You used to be entertaining when you were done with your dash and still had more time to wait for an appointment or whatever. Now it's mostly tiktoks, screenshots of twitter and reddit, and posts which should have been in the dashboard. :/
