Mod Jeido's 12th NRC Exam Results

Another round of NRC Unified Exams have come and gone and I eked by the S5 threshold by the skin of my (very sharp moray) teeth.

I'll go into detail on my teams and strategies that helped me get to this score. Hopefully this can be of use for others who are looking for reaching the higher scores. I wouldn't have been able to make this happen without the crowdsharing of teams online and really good support cards.

Here are my individual scores for each test:

Before, in order to get a score of SSS (110k) you would need an average of 22k in each test. Now, in order to reach S5 (160k), you would need an average of 32k. Once again, I would be relying heavily on my defense test scores.

My teams will be placed below under the cut for length. All battles were done using the Extra tier difficulty.

FIRE ATTACK TEST - 30413

In order to cross the 30k threshold for the Attack tests, it's imperative to finish on Turn 5. I was stuck at 29k for most of the exam session, but at the urging of a few other exam takers, I tried this team (specifically double Lilia) to my success. The levels and magic chosen are shown as above. Each character has max magic and buddy levels.

A few key points about this team:

Jamil and the two Lilias needed to be activated by themselves. This is because Jamil's ATK UP L and Lilia's DMG UP L are on their M3s and only last one turn. If RNG is unhelpful and you cannot activate both Jamil's spells at the same time, then you would not get the boost. The same goes for Lilia 1 and Lilia 2.

Similarly, Epel's M1 has an ATK UP M for 3 turns. As long as it is activated before his M2, then his M2 DUO with Idia will be boosted.

Other teams I tried that still got me scores over 25k (All Lv. 100+): ―　Dorm Azul, Boa Epel, Masq Idia, Dorm Ortho, Support Dorm Azul ―　Dorm Kalim, Dorm Jamil, Masq Idia, Dorm Ortho, Support General Lilia

WATER BASIC TEST - 31279

Despite all the new cards that have appeared, this feels like an "old faithful" combination that still has not steered me wrong. The levels and magic chosen are shown as above. Each character has max magic and buddy levels.

A few key points about this team:

Since this is a basic test, the number of DUOs is key. Since these are heavy hitters, I found I had depending on which of the non-DUO cards that appear first, I would either have to finish on Turn 3 or Turn 4.

At first I was using a Lv. 110 Leona but found that I would have to end on Turn 3 in order to be able to use all 5 DUOs, and RNG was just not playing nice. So I found someone who hadn't leveled him up all the way and this helped me stretch it to T4, given that neither of the Leonas' M1s showed up.

My Vil/Support Leona DUO combo was hit by the foe Jack's ATK DOWN which sincerely helped me as well. Sometimes debuffs aren't terrible, especially when you need to try to stretch it to T4.

Other teams I tried that still got me scores over 25k (All Lv. 100+ unless stated): ―　Dorm Malleus, Dorm Silver, Dorm Sebek (Lv. 95), Dorm Lilia (Lv. 95), Support General Lilia ―　Bday Riddle (Lv. 85), Dorm Leona, Dorm Azul, Dorm Vil, Support Dorm Leona

FLORA DEFENSE TEST - 37031

Once again, Heartslabyul on a Defense test becomes the most frustrating out of all the tests. Three out of the five have Curse to block heals, and when you're running three cards that have continuous heals, this can be very detrimental. This score was the result of successfully activating every single heal except one turn of my Ortho's continuous heal. The levels and magic chosen are shown as above. Each character has max magic and buddy levels.

This team gave me a total HP of 77,757 with an additional 43,986 in healing. I was able to end this battle with 64,991 HP left.

A few key points about this team:

Whenever possible, I would make sure to activate Leona's continuous heal on T1. Depending on the magic I had available at the time, I either would have paired him with Idia's debuff removal (if it looked like the foe had Riddle, Cater, or Trey showing up first), or Silver's M2. For Extra, at least one DUO would be necessary for me to kill on Turn 5.

Ideally, both Cerberus Orthos should be activated at Turn 2. However, this is not always possible, nor is it practical. Each one of Ortho's heals does a 6k+ single heal (along with setting up a continuous heal) so if I hadn't taken more than 13k in damage, it would have been wasting some precious HP points.

In the case of this score, I activated the support Ortho on T2 and my Ortho on T3. I was hedging my bets that I may get a debuff on T2, so I could use Idia's M1 to help mitigate that.

Luckily, this score was successful (after many many many many many unsuccessful tries) because I was only hit with a debuff on T5, after all my heals had successfully activated. Only the last little bit from my Ortho's continuous heal that was activated on T3 was not counted.

COSMIC DEFENSE TEST - 31397

I was able to get a score surpassing 30k fairly quickly, so I didn't spend that much time on Cosmic this time around. Since there are no type advantages, I went with another "old faithful" team that I knew would produce results. The levels and magic chosen are shown as above. Each character has max magic and buddy levels.

This team gave me a total HP of 86,892 with an additional 23,889 in healing.

A few key points about this team:

This test had no Curse, so it was a rather leisurely Defense test. But, as always, I would always try to activate both Cerberus Orthos' M1 heals on T2. Since this was Cosmic and there were no advantages, I would have lost enough HP during T1 that I would not have lost any healing to maxing out my HP.

Because this was a Cosmic test, however, I would need to use all 4 DUOs that I had brought into the test in order to kill by T5 and getting a high score.

OMNI ATTACK TEST - 29898

While it stings a little that I was unable to get above 30k here, this test was my last ditch effort to get my score above the 160k threshold for S5. The levels and magic chosen are shown as above. Each character has max magic and buddy levels.

A few key points about this team:

Similar to Fire Attack Test, Jamil and both Lilias needed to be activated individually with both their spells at once. Unfortunately, this wasn't always possible, since Omni tests can hit you with something you're weak against when you're not expecting it.

Hitting a few neutral elements was unavoidable, but as long as I didn't hit any disadvantages, I knew I would be able to finish on T5.

Originally I had some heavy hitting DUOs on my team instead of Dorm Riddle and Dorm Leona. For example, at one point I was using Dorm Rook and Boa Epel. I was trying to leverage their M1 boosts, but to no avail.

One person on discord commented that they threw in Dorm Riddle and Dorm Leona into their team in order to just hit hard with four total double attacks and they were able to increase their score. So I tried the same thing here, and while I wasn't able to get over 30k like i was hoping for, it did get me the 926 points I needed to get over the 160k threshold.

At first, they wouldn't even seem harmless, I mean, they would meet up to have tea, gossip, and even share embarrassing stories about their grandchildren! The possibilities are endless and I die laughing just imagining them interacting!

Grandma Felmier and Bucchi would be the friendliest of the group... I think the only one who would be more scary would be Grandma Draconia.

So about Azul, usually with contracts I think it goes like so but I'm not sure if this applies to the twst world or, you know, magical contracts....

Contracts must be clearly legible (no super tiny font) and understandable to a person (as to avoid the "gotcha" factor hidden between thick and unnecessarily long lines of text)

If the restrictions in the contract are too broad or last too long, they may be unenforceable

Cosmic Basic SSS GET!

Ever since the JP 3rd Anniversary, the SSS Cosmic Basic score has been in our grasp. This post shows some of the first people who were able to achieve that hard-pressed score.

I took and used the team shown in that post to attempt it myself over the course of the past year to no avail. My Boa Epel wasn't MLB'd, so I was just lacking a little something.

So, with the 4th Anniversary, I decided to get the final copy of Boa Epel, raise his friendship to get him to Lv. 109, and go for it again!

(Lv. 109 for Epel, Rook and Idia instead of Lv. 110 because reasons)

The team composition and details are below the cut!

Each Spell has been raised to Lv. 10. Buddies are all at Lv. 10. Kalim has the capability to go to 101, which I would have used if I hadn't been successful with this build.

Lo and behold!

A 20k score just barely scraped by.

This was a 3 turn kill, as follows:

Jamil and Kalim DUOs.

Epel's M1 raises his ATK, which will be crucial for turn 3. Rook's DUO hits.

Idia's DUO is debuffed by Leona, but this turns out to work in my favor, bringing the foes HP to just 332 HP. Epel's DUO overkills just enough to bring me past the 20k threshold.

Using the Buddy Bonus Calculator, we can see that the total ATK/POW of the team was 36,596.

This is in line with the ATK/POW of the teams shown by CECIL from the other post. This excludes the boost in ATK that Epel gets by activating his ATK, however.

I'm happy to finally be able to join the others who have successfully gotten SSS on Cosmic Basic, and I hope to be able to experiment with other teams to get there again next time, too!

I am so happy, after all the misery he put me through with the Groom card, I am so happy that he's here now. I had 200 pulls saved, so I decided to see if I could get Grim too and ...

Pull number 40 (counting the free 10 as well). So i spent... 11 single keys and 2 tenfold keysets on 2 brand new SSR cards. I have NEVER had this much luck so I am both flabbergasted and a little confused?? cause I have 180 pulls still... kinda ready? I am tempted to try Malleus, but I will probably just wait for other favorite characters then.

Wait, the tsun event has a whole bit dedicated to Malleus bragging about what kitchen appliances he knows how to use? Twst EN just got the milk culinary crucible, which means at the same time Malleus is showing off, the entirety of the EN players are learning Leona doesn't know how to use a microwave. The timing really just makes it feel like Malleus is flexing on Leona XD

it's in Mal's card story rather than in the event proper, but yep! after teaching his tsum proper microwave usage, he takes it on a tour and very proudly shows off his extensive knowledge of household appliances. (except when he thinks his tsum fell into the washing machine and doesn't know how to unlock the lid, so he just. explodes it instead. hashtag just diasomnia things. 🤷)

I do think he and Leona should get into a fight about who has done a better job of learning how to use kitchen tools! Leona has the advantage of having grown up in the modern world, but Malleus has the motivation to actually do literally anything. who will win

Grim being Yuu's #1 victim to her kisses

Every morning every night, Grim gets a kiss. And any other types of kisses

Now imagine Grim accidentally complained about it to the twst boy and while Grim who finds it annoying(he does not. He just wants to look tough), the twst boys are jealous and wish to be in Grims place

Anon, please send the image of the New Card. I wanna sseeeee. Jamil has always been one of my OG Faves when the game started along with Trey! I haven't seen the card yet. Edit: Moving forward, I will use the pronouns used by the asks for Yuu. If not mentioned, I will continue to use they/them.

I imagine Yuu/MC at that point has learned to adapt to Twst.'s customs and has refrained from kiss the boys. I am sensing romantic undertones in this ask, so I will answer this Ask with Romance in mind.

Grim will complain with Yuu constantly kisses his cheeks everyday! When he wakes up, Kiss! When they sleep? KISS! When they split apart then meet up again? Jaw kisses!

I imagine Grim wouldn't even bother to learn Yuu's Kiss language because he thinks its overly complicated (its not), so he just thinks the Prefect is being overly fussy.

When he complains about his "problem", Ace and Epel think he is bragging, and Deuce and Jack are sulking (one more obvious than the other). Sebek scolds them both for the "impropriety" but he is really jealous deep inside, sometimes he catches himself imagining it was him getting those good morning kisses.

Riddle is not subtle in his jealousy but nobody points it out. He doesn't imagine himself in Grim's place but he ( although he doesn't admit it to himself, or is aware of it) miss being kissed by Yuu, especially their greetings and good job kisses.

Trey smiles on the outside, and is kinda amused that the other boys are jealous in the inside. Ofcourse, there are times that Yuu loses her self-restraint , and Trey has seen and experienced that. Maybe its because he is "trusthworthy" that the Prefect is more laid back towards him. When the Prefect slips back to her habit, Trey is ready to lightly "scold them", after he gets that kiss.

Cater is laughing but inside he is not. DANG, that was supposed to be himmmmm!!! He's so jealous! He feels kinda pathetic when he realizes he is envious of a cat, but in his defense, he really finds comfort in Yuu's genuine affects.

The Octavinelle trio want to shut Grim up, they're dying of jealousy out here! Azul is thinking of ways he'd get Yuu to go back to doing your customs (provided that it's only towards him). Jade is looking menacingly at Grim, and Floyd is gonna squeeze the cat any moment now.

Leona acts nonchalant, but he does tell Grim to "shut up" cuz he is "noisy". Teases Yuu of being too "touchy" (he is sending her signals to quit it). Ruggie advices Grim to "run for it".

Kalim is openly voicing out that he wishes he was in Grim's shoes. Jamil is glad the prefect is acting with self restraint cuz she shouldn't come up kissing people, (except him, and Grim is an exception).

Rook listens eagerly at Grim's complaint, imagining the Prefect cutely pampering the cat. In Rook's mind, Yuu is the most beautiful when she is her authentic self.

Vil tells Grim to not be so loud (he doesn't want to hear him "brag"). Vil is not openly jealous because he knows behind close doors, Yuu still does her Kiss Language towards him (when he allows it, he has made it so the Prefect is comfortable with his presence)

Malleus is not that jealous (openly) cuz he views Grim as a cat. However, when its just Yuu and him on their nightly walks, he expects the Prefect to go back to their customs. He expects that the kisses are a given.

Lilia is just amused. So what? Yes, the Prefect restrains themselves from kissing others and puts all their attention to Grim. BUT there is a loophole to this. Yuu stops herself, but doesn't stop others. So if Lilia wants to greet Yuu using the latter's Kiss Language, the Prefect just happily accepts it. It seems like Yuu even appreciates it when Lilia respects and tries to practice her Kiss Language. It's comforting.

Silver is expressionless, but inside him is a tumultuous feeling. He doesn't know why he is upset. But he is. Lilia teaches him the loophole, so it kinda alleviates Silver's concern.

Idia is both jealous of Yuu AND Grim. HE ALSO WANTS TO PLAY WITH THE CAT. But he also wants to be the end of Yuu's affections. Dang, its like losing two 50/50s in a gacha pull.

He adores the set of frilly doilies you made him and the cute potholders are always in use

He is 100% in support of your dreams of making that bag, honestly he really thinks you should get a start now to make extra cash on the side since 7 forbid crowley pay you for the work you do

He smiles every time he sees a tart cooling on one of the doilies you made him, seeing the little pattern always makes him happy

Oddly captivated by any balls or skeins of yarn that are out and about but hes fighting the urge to play with them 

He is not beating the house cat allegations 

At first hes pretty neutral on it honestly, he likes the gifts you give him because they are just his but hes not a big keychain guy, or stuffies

Then you make him a blanket and hes gone 

He claims to be neutral about it, saying he likes the gift but dont be fooled by his aloof act he sleeps with that blanket everywhere 

He is bringing it to class if he doesn't just skip the class 

It is his favorite blanket and he almost lost his shit when ruggie took it to wash it- he's kinda territorial about the blanket 

Gives 0 fucks that its some cutesy blanket with little lions on it

Also a big fan of pillows/pillow covers 

If you make him multiple blankets he loves them too but the first one is extra special to him 

Hes neutral about you starting a business during or after school/graduation because well,,,he's a whole prince,,,

You make cheka a matching blanket and leona gets a very happy letter from his brother on how much the mini lion loves it, leona rolls his eyes but is secretly very proud of you 

Regardless if you want to start the small business he is happy to support you making that bread

Vil in crochet clothes my beloved 

Hes charmed by your little hobby and the adorable stuffed animal you made him, a little crochet owl that sits on his vanity so he sees it when he does his makeup and night routine 

Vil does not post a lot of personal stuff on his magicam/socials, but he does wear anything you make him, he has a folder in his gallery dedicated to photos of the two of you, dates or candid photos either he took or rook took and sent to him. 

Most of these pics he's in something you crochet for him even if it's just a simple keychain it's a staple of his 

He is very supportive of your dreams of starting a business for your crochet, he admires the drive and discipline and encourages you to pursue this work 

Ironically if you start a side hustle soon to be full business, neige of all people is a big customer as he's fond of cute stuff like this 

This is where vil gets petty 

He sees a photo post of neige’s where he’s in a new outfit, not odd at all, what catches vils attention is that the cardigan and hat he's wearing is oddly similar to a piece he saw you working on for an order- anyone watching can see the twitch in vil’s eye when he sees the shoutout to you in the caption

The next 5-8 posts of vil’s are a mix of his regular posts and pictures of him in your clothes or with the keychains, all with captions along the lines of “my beautiful s/o @[your name here]”

If you were to make him a keychain he calls it his lucky charm for hunting and always had it on him. 

Really he's just fond of anything you make him

a lot of his photos are of you when you are deep in a project and not paying attending, candid photos like this are his favorites and he looks at them often 

He really likes any little animal stuffies you make because he thinks they are just the cutest 

“Hunts” your plushies aka he will sneak up on you making them or sorting them out and act like he caught them

He is very supportive of your business ventures, he loves to see you so passionate about wanting to eventually start a small business and be able to sell your creations 

He definitely encourages you to sell a few things in sams shop, afterall he sells anything and everything anyone could ever need

Idia 

The outfits you make grim are his faves 

He is a cat man at heart and cant help but coo over every new thing you make grim because it makes the kitty so so so cute and as a cat he was already uber SS+ cute levels 

He is also a big fan of any keychains you make him or even stuffies

The stuffies either are on his bed so he can cuddle them or they are with the rest of his game/anime figures on his shelves so its a horrific mix of like neon genesis mechs and crochet 

I think it would be funny to make him doilies to put the figures on because when hes gaming and people are like “dude why is your [super cool limited edition game figure] on a doily???” hes like “haha L+loser+lonely+my super cool s/o made them for me lvl10 affection” and is it cringe as hell? Yes. can those normies suck it because hes no longer forever alone? Also yes

They are demanding proof or it didn't happen 

Ortho is also a big fan and has a lil keychain you made hooked on him <3

idia would actually combust if you made anything themed after a game or show he watches/plays because that is SS+ max lvl affection with full hearts right there

When he sees you doing something as simple as sitting down and crocheting his draconic heart is filled with sweet domestic love, makes him feel like an old married couple and he can't take it lmao 

At first he's a bit weird about accepting gifts as it's a big deal in fae culture to just,,,get a gift out of nowhere

But he does accept them, he simply gives you something he sees as equal value (this is how you end up with several big ass gems)

A keychain that looks like his gaogao-drakon-kun tamagotchi witch he keeps on the same keychain as said virtual pet

A gargoyle plushy that he considers to be one of his most treasured gifts, in a similar light he has a plushie of your fave animal and you have a dragon plushie that match (this almost killed him)

And a little crochet bracelet that you match (he never takes it off unless he has to) 

Your desire to start a business throws him for a loop at first because in his mind you are happily by his side in the briar valley, (he is very male lead coded) but he quickly re-adjusts to account for your business plans and he is the most supportive dragon you could ever hope for
