so there's been at least two times with a camp vargas in twst... imagine having mated and everything with the twins/one of the twins and then there's a camp to get to. don't know if you've played it but if not, feel free to delete the ask!

anyway so it's canon yuu gets scared easily (in twst at least, new world and new people) right? so what if the twins and yuu are at the camp at the same time and the "monster" appears? protective twins mode guard eels on 🫡 imagine the shenanigans LOL

It will highly depend on the timeline and which twins you are with, or if you're with both.

The sports club Camp Vargas takes place first, so assuming that you're mates with Floyd (and/or Jade) at this point, he's trying his best to get you to stick around the Basketball Club to show off how cool he is. it gets to the point that Vargas actually has to threaten to take away points from the club to get the others to shoo you away from a pouting Floyd. Afterwards, he's decided that it's no longer fun without his mate around, and kinda mopes around after catching the fish for food. So when the “monster” first appears near your camping spot, he's shifted into “moray protect shrimp” mode! It's cute, how he shifts from his more casual mannerisms and mood with the others and turns into a softer, more concerned person with you. Even the others take note of the behavior change. And when you get taken with the rest of the students later in the night, it's a rapid mood shift to an anxious, but angry Floyd. It takes Sebek, Jack, and Ruggie to hold him back from running off into the woods by himself to find you. Just you, though, he doesn't care about the other guppies. At the conclusion of the night, after the reveal, Floyd is clinging to you like a koala to a tree. He has half a mind to throw a rock at Vargas's big head, but doesn't feel like going to detention the next day.

On the other hand, with Jade it's a bit nicer. Of your you weren't allowed to tell Jade or any of the other Art/Science Club students about the “monster,” but even Floyd was happy to send Jade off to experience the same stress he had his night. Jade doesn't try to monopolize your time, at least not in a way that's obvious. He is however, coaxing you to come by with a promise of a pretty flower he found, or his catfish with he expertly seasoned and seared. It does work, and it flies under Vargas's nose. It starts to go a bit downhill when Vargas does his monster bit again, as you and Grim aren't the worse actors, but Jade is very perceptive. He's not concerned when the students first started going missing, as you and Grim seem to be rather relaxed about the whole ordeal. But when the second “creature” comes around and actually snatches you from his grasp, your terrified screams echoing in his head, Jade is desperate to get you back. This time it's Azul trying his best to calm a frantic Jade, Trey and Vil watching on in surprise as the usually calmer twin looks close to both murder and tears. Like the last time, the night ends with you wrapped in your eel's arms, Jade checking you over for any marks or bruises. Later, he returns to the dorm to strangle his brother. Tenfold if you're mated with both, as he's furious that Floyd didn't warn him about the “monsters” and your faux kidnapping. Please stop them before they wreck the dining room again.

Now hear me out, please don't come for my throat. I love all Yuu's. Monster Yuu, Male Yuu, Non binary Yuu, Trans Yuu, Fairy Yuu, just Yuu's (Live love laugh that baby shrimp)

But I feel like people with Fem Yuu's (I'm not saying ALL, there are very VERY GOOD Fem Yuu's out there, nor am I hating on any Fem Yuu's or the concept) I feel like some people miss the opportunity to write a very strong female character. I've been seeing people just use a Fem Yuu as an insert or harem bait, but I don't think that's what we should be using that idea of her for.

I love seeing Fem Yuu's with character and struggle, goals, personality and actual struggles of being a magicless girl in an ALL BOYS SCHOOL. It would not be some fantasy land, it would be awful.

The sexism, sexual harassment, struggles of fitting in, etc. I like seeing Fem Yuu's that actually EMBRACE and TALK about those problems. Imagine the amazing character development!!! Not only with all the trauma all Yuu's already have, but adding the problems a young teenage girl (depending on how old she is) being surrounded by uneducated and hormonal teenage boys would just be completely awful. I want to see a Fem Yuu that overcomes this, or at least has it in her character development instead of it just being like: "OH I'm a pretty girl surrounded by boys and they all love me, I get special privileges."

Do I think Fem Yuu would get some (key word some) special privileges?: Yes, but only from the staff or characters who respect women

Do I think some or at least one boy would get a crush on her considering she's the only girl?: Yes, and probably guaranteed.

Do I think she would have a harem?: NO.

Do I think Fem Yuu would just be a weak defenseless Mc because she's a girl?: Absolutely fucking not.

I just think Fem Yuu should be more than harem content and all that. She would be very strong, and have a lot of struggles to get over, I also feel like she'd have a strong mentality.

I'm not telling anyone that their Oc's of fem Yuu are bad, nor should you change them. I'm just saying that SOME of them are unrealistic and should be more than just a girl to have a harem around or something.

GIVE ME A FEM YUU WHOS KIND AND INNOCENT (platonically) BUT IS STILL A GIRLBOSS THROUGH HER FEMININITY FINDING A STRENGTH IN IT!!!

It's fine if a Fem Yuu is fragile, as there are fragile girls irl plus there is nothing weak about wanting to fall in love, THAT IS NOT WHAT IM SAYING!! That's what this is about, actually. I would love for these kinds of girls to get more representation that isn't JUST HER BEING THE LOVE INTEREST!! I want to see an innocent, kind, and caring fem Yuu who gets stronger in her own way through her kindness and femininity as the story progresses. Innocent or "fragile" girls are strong in their own way and I just notice how so many Fem Yuu's just make her a love interest MC when I think the Fem Yuu concept could be SO MUCH MORE!! (But if your Yuu falls in love that is perfectly fine, great even, love is great for characters as long as it isn't the only soul reason they exist, y'know what I mean?)

Like I said, a great opportunity to write a strong yet feminine and kind female character that isn't just a love interest or "weak girl" (Some Otome or Female Mcs are a good example of this.)

This is probably going to be my last big ask for a while, so let’s make it count. What I really wanted to talk about is Yuu and disease. It’s probably just me, but while the cute caretaker sick fics are nice and all, I just sit there worrying about Yuu’s heath.

As a completely different world, realistically Twisted Wonderland would not have the same diseases as Earth. Poor Yuu must have gone down like a sack of bricks the first time they got sick, at the very least. I’m not exactly knowledgeable about the medical field or anything, but even babies have some kind of an immune system thanks to receiving temporary antibodies from their mothers that hold them over until they can receive vaccines. Yuu doesn’t have that.

To make this worse, Ramshackle is well… ramshackle. Before it got rebuilt I guarantee that building was having untold issues even after being cleaned up. I mean, I highly doubt Ramshackle is temperature regulated via magic like the rest of the school due to it being abandoned. Yuu spent all of fall and part of winter in a run-down dorm. And ‘part of winter’ thing is me being generous given the iffy timeline of the game’s story.

I know it’s a running joke to dunk on Crowley for being an irresponsible guardian, but this is a terrifying level of oversight if none of the adults considered this about Yuu’s medical vulnerability. Another strike in favor of Yuu just running away.

I am so sorry I took forever to get around to this my dear Shrimp, I'm also not a medical expert so I had to really think about this. Disease in worlds with magic tends to be an underdeveloped part of most settings world building.

... also if you saw me post this before I was done cooking no you didn't ￢o(￣-￣ﾒ)

I want to start off by saying that I disagree about Ramshackle not being temperature regulated... sort of. Ramshackle is more or less a Victorian era mansion, so if we assume that it has the same general architecture then while it does lack a central heating system, it is more or less capable of maintaining heat in individual rooms. If you look at the in game artwork for the dorm, there are visible fireplaces in both of the main rooms where we spend time, the Lounge:

And our room:

As long as that fire is kept going, those individual rooms will have heat, and while that falls under the purview of the fire faeries that work for the school I can see Yuu being able to take care of themselves enough to keep their dorm warm. There is even a stack of wood next to the lounge fireplace, so we can assume they can get a fire going to heat the place. The real issues (from Grim's complaints) seems to be a lack of hot water and holes in the roof, both of which they would have had to live through most of winter with that could have caused things like a bad cold or pneumonia before we even get to potential magical diseases.

When it comes to magical diseases and vaccines... my understanding of disease is that a lot of them start in animal populations before they make their way into humans. So while Twisted Wonderland is a different world, the animals are more or less the same so I can see them having the same general diseases as our world... but as people use magic to treat the disease that introduces the potential exists for diseases to evolve to combat the magic treatments. I think it's those treatments Yuu would be more vulnerable to than the twst variants of the diseases they have back home; there's a whole host of new potential allergens in the potential cures they haven't been tested for and there is no guarantee using magic on Yuu won't hurt them.

If there are magic based diseases that come from the monster population, then Yuu would absolutely need vaccines for those but I could also see things like that as not being thought of as illnesses but rather a form of a curse, and therefore something that requires a different type of treatment. And I agree this does seem like a terrible level of negligence and oversight from the adults at NRC... but I can also see why it happens. Yuu shows no outward sign of being anything other than a normal, magicless human so I can see them sort of just assuming Yuu would function the same as anyone else and then go from there.

What really got me thinking in this ask was the potential for Yuu to need something like an inhaler, or an ssri, or hell even my iron supplements and how that would get handled. Especially ssris, I have a bit of experience with getting medicated and it can take forever to get on a combo that gives you your life back as opposed to fucking things up further. Getting snapped into another world without those meds and having to go through the process again in a world with a different concept of chemistry would suck so much. Poor neurodivergent Yuu's, as if life didn't suck enough already.

Chapter 1 - Be careful what you wish for?

[ Announcement ]

When Yuu awoke that day, before their beloved monster companion, the last thing they expected was to see Grim sleeping in. Yes, it may seem normal, but it was not the normal type of sleeping in.

This type of sleeping in was carefree, completely unbothered, not a worry in the world. As if they both didn't have a school they needed to go to and classes to attend, both starting in about five minutes. Sure, cats were typically lazy and Grim was no exception, but waking up last and without the urgency to get to class was certainly something.

But it wasn't unusual for how he had been acting for the past few days. It was starting to get concerning.

- Choice one: Wake him up ☆ "Come on Mister mastermind, we have to get to great mage training."

- Choice two: Let him sleep for a little bit more ☆ "Only three more minutes Grim, but you won't have time to pretty up your bow..."

- Choice three: Do nothing ☆ "He'll wake up on his own, maybe he needs a break."

Grim eventually awakes with a soft mrp as he opens his eyes.

Grim: Nya? Why're you in such a rush henchmen? It's all no good if you don't get enough sleep y'know.

Yuu chuckles and shakes their head, fixing up their own outfit as they eye the clock.

Shrimp: We've got school? Did you dream that we don't have responsibilities or something?

Grim: Grr, what's one day off school? Let's just skip! It's only a few classes...

Shrump: Huh?? What about being the greatest mage alive in any world?

Grim: That's a reeeeal big goal y'know. You'd have to work hard for something like that, 'specially with Crowley and Mr. Horn guy.

Yuu' attention turns to the monster in full, now with curiosity and concern in their tone.

- Choice one: Concern ☆ "Grim that's your goal, it's all you've been talking about since we got here. Oh crap we're gonna be late!"

- Choice two: Shake it off ☆ "Okay, starting off the day with weird, no problem. Let's go to class."

Grim shrugs with a wide yawn, finally dragging himself up and out of his wonderfully warm bed. He doesn't have his usual go to attitude or gusto for the day, but at least he won't get in trouble for an absence.

Grim gets his bow on. It's a little bit sloppy, but he seems happy with it. As you both head towards the entrance to Ramshackle you notice the three grinning ghosts giving you both a look of curiosity. Curiosity that seemed mixed with confusion, but they gave you a happy wave

GGG 1: Have a good day in school!

GGG 2: Try not to cause too much chaos!

Yuu: It hasn't been my fault!

[ Main Street ]

Walking through the pathways of NRC, one thing was very apparent. Not a single student in the school was acting their brand of normal. The NRC students were acting laid back and content while the RSA students lacked their over enthusiasm and constant whimsical joy.

While on their walk with Grim upon their head, they happened upon Ace and Deuce. Their age-old partners in crime from the very beginning, the ride or dies, the ones who are currently getting along just fine with zero over enthusiasm about anything.

Shrimple: ...So something happened. The question is what.

Yuu stopped to listen to their conversation, maybe they were both just tired. Or perhaps they got hit with a curse that took away all of their energy and that was the Problem of the Week.

Ace: So what did you get on that test yesterday?

Deuce: A 73/86, could've been better.

Ace: Eh? It ain't that bad, good enough to pass.

Deuce: Yeah, what'd you get?

Ace: A 76/86 I think.

Deuce: You did better than me, nice.

Ace: Not really that big of a deal, the test was easy. I don't care that much about placing anyway as long as it passes. Other than that, I don't exactly give a damn.

Deuce: That's fair enough I guess. Brash, but fair...

The conversation drifted off as the two walked away, waving to Yuu over their shoulders as they passed. Not that it helped, the shiver that crawled up their spine was still there. That was one of the weirdest things they had seen all day.

Grim and Ace not caring about being the best mage, Deuce not wanting to be the best of the best for his mom... it was unsettling. Peaceful, Yuu would admit, but still unsettling in a strange way.

Even more unsettling was the sudden tap on their shoulder, which seemed to be delivered by a desperate looking Crowley. In fact, he looks more frazzled than normal.

Crowley: Yuu! There you are! I've been looking for you everywhere, it's like you're avoiding me. But you wouldn't be, surely, you wouldn't be that rude to someone who has been so kind and gracious.

- Choice one: Be Blunt ☆ "Actually, I would."

- Choice two: Be Blunt Ever Blunter ☆ "Actually I would. ...Is what I would say, but I won't, mostly for my own sake."

- Choice three: Still Be Blunt ☆ "Actually, I was on my way to class."

- Choice four: Still Be Blunt Ever Blunter ☆ "Actually, I was on my way to class. But now that you've stopped me and something is clearly wrong, what happened?"

Crowley: Of course you wouldn't, for I am ever nice and generous. But it's good to see that your observational skills haven't faded! Those are always needed in wonderland. I'm sure you've noticed that something seems to have happened to the students currently residing in the school.

Shrumkly: I sure have. So what now?

Grim: Let me guess, we have to solve it. Honestly, we should be getting paid as staff! Preferably in tuna, like you promised.

Crowley: With the Banquet of Dreams coming up I can't have the students in this state! All of the other headmages would blame me and never let me live it down... You have to come with me to the mirror hall. I'm afraid it's not just the students being affected.

Yuu watched the headmage turn on his heel and walk off towards the main building, never even looking back to see if he was actually being followed. Meaning, as they knew, they had to be the one to help the school.

Grim turned to Yuu with his own confused, but exasperated, frown. The monster's flaming ears even began to grow ever so slightly, likely annoyed at his day getting interrupted, even if he was originally going to skip. So that didn't exactly change.

Yuu glanced around Main Street as they followed, watching students going about their overly normal day.

Maybe they should've wished for an overly normal day.

[ Hall of Mirrors ]

When Crowley said that the Hall of Mirrors had been effected, the last thing Yuu thought they would see was the mirrors leading to an entirely different place. There also seemed to be an entirely new mirror, one that appeared right between Diasomnia and Heartslabyul, taking the place as the middle mirror.

The new mirror had a star where a dorm badge would normally be, a broken and fractured star that was missing all of its points. The mirror itself, stone creating an image that Yuu couldn't place, was broken. There was no portal and no glass, just an empty space where something would normally lead.

The other mirrors weren't exactly normal either. All of them had changed to match their dorm's signature color and the stone around them was much more animated than Yuu last remembered.

Grim: NYA?!?! WHAT HAPPENED HERE?!

???: You didn't explain what happened?

Crowley: I was going to when they got here!

Yuu turned to see the headmage and the vice headmage gave each other a stare before the vice headmage rolled his eyes with a sigh. He turned to Yuu and Grim with a small bow of his head and gave them a polite smile. Despite that, Yuu could tell that even he was just as frazzled as Crowley was.

Mr. Majesty: Yuu, Grim. My apologies for this interference for your day, but it would appear that this situation truly calls for your help.

- Choice one: Dismiss It ☆ "It's fine, me and Grim are used to this by now. What's up?"

- Choice two: Joke About It ☆ "This school always needs my help one way or another. So what's up?"

- Choice three: Be Straightforward ☆ "What happened here?"

Mr. Majesty stood up straight and gestured to the mirrors with his staff. Yuu sees that the star on his staff is just as broken as the one above the new mirror.

Mr. Majesty: We ourselves are not entirely sure what happened, but we're sure that it has to do with that flash of light that hit this school just a few days ago. Somebody seems to have made a wish of some sort, one that required a lot of mana. But what this has to do with the mirrors, we're unsure.

Mr. Majesty: What we currently know is that all of the students seemed to have lost their desire and drive. And it could be that loss of drive that is affecting this world.

Mr. Majesty: The mirrors no longer lead to the dorms, but something is stopping anyone except for members of the dorms from going in. Which is why... we need your help. I can't enter the mirrors.

Crowley: And I have to make sure that nothing else happens to NRC while Ambrose tends to the mirrors.

Mr. Majesty: It's Majesty.

Crowley seems to ignore Mr. Majesty's scolding and instead chooses to continue addressing Yuu and Grim with a sure nod of his head.

Crowley: However, because you are not from this world, you can come and go through the portals as you please! When you go through, you must report what you see on the other side when you come back.

Mr. Majesty: You and Grim won't be alone, however. I've assigned two second years to lend you a hand, they specifically come from where we believe the mirrors lead.

Grim: And where's that?!

Crowley: The original stories of wonderland.

- Choice one: Great Seven Question ☆ "So we might run into the Great Seven? These are their stories!"

- Choice two: Safety Question ☆ "Are you even sure that's safe? You know what happens in the original stories."

- Choice three: Don't Question It ☆ "So who's helping us then?"

Crowley, as gracious as he is, chooses to ignore Yuu's and Grim's expression in favor of addressing the true problem at hand. Wasting time. As Crowley goes to speak, two shadows begin to loom over Yuu right before they feel their hands get grabbed.

Their arms are tugged into a crossed position as two people, clearly from Heartslabyul if the gems are anything to go by, jump up and down as they shake their hands. A hand shake that Yuu was pretty sure was the reason they felt a small shock go up one of their arms.

???: How do you do and shake hands, shake hands, shake hands! How do you do and shake hands, state your names and business!

Two nearly identical people stepped into view. Both had mocha skin, red and green hair ( although they had different patterns ), red and green eyes, wore large round glasses, and had a large gray Frankenstein scar covering a third of their face.

The only difference was one had sprinkles in their hair and face, their glasses were silver, and they wore a golden bell on their neck. The other had glittering freckles, golden glasses, and a silver bell.

Royo: I'm Royo!

Yoro: And I'm Yoro!

Royo and Yoro: And we're so excited to help you out on this funny little adventure!

Behind the two, the Heartslabyul mirror seemed to glow and pulse with a black, red, and white light that swirled and shifted. The vision of a crown drowning in jewelry and heart gems sitting atop a head flashed in the reflection for a moment before disappearing in the blink of an eye.
