1981 Solidarity Message from Palestinian Prisoners to Irish Hunger Strikers
8 May 2012
GazaTVNews today reposted an important historical statement of support from Palestinian prisoners to the Irish Hunger Strikers in 1981:
During the Irish Hunger Strike in 1981 that was led by Bobby Sands, a statement was smuggled out of Nafha Prison from the Palestinian prisoners and sent to the families of the 10 men who died.
That support has never been forgotten, and while Khader Adnan and Hana Shalabi were on Hunger Strike, several families of the 10 men who died, and former Hunger Strikers sent several messages of support to them and their families. They have also sent messages to the current Palestinian prisoners who are on Hunger Strike, and to their families.
Below is a copy of the message smuggled out of Nafha prison in 1981:
“TO THE FAMILIES OF THE MARTYRS OPPRESSED BY THE BRITISH RULING CLASS. TO THE FAMILIES OF BOBBY SANDS AND HIS MARTYRED COMRADES.
WE, REVOLUTIONARIES OF THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE WHO ARE UNDER THE TERRORIST RULE OF ZIONISM, WRITE YOU THIS LETTER FROM THE DESERT PRISON OF NAFHA.
WE EXTEND OUR SALUTES AND SOLIDARITY WITH YOU IN THE CONFRONTATION AGAINST THE OPPRESSIVE TERRORIST RULE ENFORCED UPON THE IRISH PEOPLE BY THE BRITISH RULING ELITE.
WE SALUTE THE HEROIC STRUGGLE OF BOBBY SANDS AND HIS COMRADES, FOR THEY HAVE SACRIFICED THE MOST VALUABLE POSSESSION OF ANY HUMAN BEING. THEY GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR FREEDOM.
FROM HERE IN NAFHA PRISON, WHERE SAVAGE SNAKES AND DESERT SANDS PENETRATE OUR CELLS, FROM HERE UNDER THE YOKE OF ZIONIST OCCUPATION, WE STAND ALONGSIDE YOU. FROM BEHIND OUR CELL BARS, WE SUPPORT YOU, YOUR PEOPLE AND YOUR REVOLUTIONARIES WHO HAVE CHOSEN TO CONFRONT DEATH.
SINCE THE ZIONIST OCCUPATION, OUR PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LIVING UNDER THE WORST CONDITIONS. OUR MILITANTS WHO HAVE CHOSEN THE ROAD OF LIBERTY AND CHOSEN TO DEFEND OUR LAND, PEOPLE AND DIGNITY, HAVE BEEN SUFFERING FOR MANY YEARS.
IN THE PRISONS, WE ARE CONFRONTING ZIONIST OPPRESSION AND THEIR SYSTEMATIC APPLICATION OF TORTURE. SUNLIGHT DOES NOT ENTER OUR CELL. BASIC NECESSITIES ARE NOT PROVIDED. YET WE CONFRONT THE ZIONIST HANGMEN, THE ENEMIES OF LIFE.
MANY OF OUR MILITANT COMRADES HAVE BEEN MARTYRED UNDER TORTURE BY THE FASCISTS ALLOWING THEM TO BLEED TO DEATH. OTHERS HAVE BEEN MARTYRED BECAUSE ISRAELI PRISON ADMINISTRATORS DO NOT PROVIDE NEEDED MEDICAL CARE.
THE NOBLE AND JUST HUNGER STRIKE IS NOT IN VAIN. IN OUR STRUGGLE AGAINST THE OCCUPATION OF OUR HOMELAND, FOR FREEDOM FROM THE NEW NAZIS, IT STANDS AS A CLEAR SYMBOL OF THE HISTORICAL CHALLENGE AGAINST THE TERRORISTS.
OUR PEOPLE IN PALESTINE AND IN THE ZIONIST PRISONS ARE STRUGGLING AS YOUR PEOPLE ARE STRUGGLING AGAINST THE BRITISH MONOPOLIES AND WE WILL BOTH CONTINUE UNTIL VICTORY.
ON BEHALF OF THE PRISONERS OF NAFHA, WE SUPPORT YOUR STRUGGLE AND CAUSE OF FREEDOM AGAINST ENGLISH DOMINATION, AGAINST ZIONISM AND AGAINST FASCISM IN THE WORLD.”

“You simply cannot fit more America into a single incident than a man dying a horrifying death in protest of war crimes while a first responder screams at cops to stop pointing their guns at him and go get fire extinguishers. If you were to pick a single moment in history to sum up the essence and expression of the US empire, that would be it.”

A few weeks ago the UN reported that everyone in Gaza is facing a food crisis -and that 1 in every 4 people in Gaza are starving -a quarter of their population is hundreds of thousands of Palestinian people. EVERYONE is hungry -their medical systems have collapsed and there are imminent outbreaks of diseases. How HUMILIATING and dehumanizing it is to have to fight for basic necessities. Imagine seeing a humanitarian truck -something rare because as we know the IOF has been collectively punishing Palestinian people for months now and has been committing mass genocide under the guide of 'war.' Not letting through resources to prevent people from dying from starvation is beyond depraved. And the fact we will NEVER see this on western/European mass media is just... absolutely infuriating.

"B-but Palestinians can get their freedom with peace not violence 🥺🥺" no. Screw your feelings. The armed resistance against colonizers and murderers is what will give Palestinians their freedom and what will eventually achieve real peace.
An enemy that bombs and uses white phosphorus against civilians doesn't know nor practice what your broken moral compass describes as "peace". Freedom was proven throughout history not to be achieved through kneeling and asking the oppressor to kindly stop. Freedom needs to be taken by force. Your little Utopian way of thinking doesn't work in the real world. Your feelings don't matter because you're not the one living under occupation. Your feelings don't matter because you're not one of the thousands of children who lost their limbs. You're not one of the children who became orphans due to this genocide. You're not the mother who lost her child to the carpet bombing. You're not the father carrying the remains of your child in plastic bags. You're not the newlywed woman who lost her husband. You're not the one at risk of either getting killed any second or losing your loved ones in the blink of an eye!
"Peace" is not really a thing you see during a live ethnic cleansing!

I haven’t seen anyone talk about this, which makes me think it isn’t being reported, but right now the largest protest for Palestine in the history of the United States is taking place in Washington DC. Thousands turned up to show their solidarity for Palestine and to call for a ceasefire.
Look at this, they won’t be able to ignore us for much longer.

GLOBAL STRIKE ON APRIL 15
Tumblr media
"The terrorist Israeli occupation, after half a year, is still insisting on entering Rafah, which is the last city that still contains most of the population of the Gaza Strip.
80% of the Gaza Strip is destroyed and suffers from continuous military invasions, the movement of the Israeli army, besieging hospitals, commit massacres, destroy and blow up residential neighborhoods. And besieging the population and starving them.
The terrorist occupation is committing these crimes in front of the world, and is trying to have more time to destroy the hopes of the displaced to return and kill them with hunger and disease, and make the world get used to what is happening in Gaza and reduce media coverage and solidarity with Palestine, in addition to causing more destruction and strengthening the presence of the Israeli terrorists in Gaza in preparation for stealing the land.
Be smarter than them, and do not leave us to be killed and forgotten. *April 15 is a day of global strike*.. No schools, no movement, no work, no electronic payment, no gas stations. Make more noise and disturb the peace of terrorist politicians in America and IsraHell.
In the picture, me after half a year of documenting the genocide and surviving it daily without being sure of surviving the next day, and I will not stop until this genocide ends and I sit in the middle of my city feeling safe while I help my people rebuild Gaza."
Here's what to do:
Don't go to school or work (if you can)
Protest (if you can)
Do not shop anywhere
Do not use your credit card or use any money
Wear green, red, white and black clothes to show solidarity. Wear a badge, a keffiyeh, or anything that signifies your solidarity
Boost posts about Palestine, flood the media
Boycott!

It's actually crazy talking to friends and relatives about what's going on because very few of them know that this is a retaliatory attack. I keep seeing people online call the attack unprovoked too.
So those who don't know, on April 1st Israeli warplanes bombed Iran's consulate in Damascus. The attack killed 7 of Iran’s military advisers including 3 senior commanders.
Reuters reporters at the site in the Mezzeh district of Damascus saw emergency workers clambering atop rubble of a destroyed building inside the diplomatic compound, adjacent to the main Iranian embassy building. Emergency vehicles were parked outside. An Iranian flag hung from a pole by the debris.
Iran's ambassador to Syria said the strike hit a consular building in the embassy compound and that his residence was on the top two floors. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in a statement that seven Iranian military advisers died in the strike including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander in its Quds Force, which is an elite foreign espionage and paramilitary arm.
This attack on the embassy is against international law. Embassies are protected sites. But instead of condemning the attack and putting pressure on Israel, the US has spent the past week and a half calling West Asian countries to put pressure on Iran, with Biden going as far as to warn Iran not to attack Israel and saying that his support for Israel is 'iron clad'.
The West, the UN, and UN Security Council have largely failed to condemn the attack which means Iran has no choice but to retaliate with force in order to prevent future attacks. Otherwise, the country will look vulnerable and weak, especially to the Israeli occupation government which has spent months bombing neighbouring countries like Syria and Lebanon
