POLICE VIOLENTLY STORM UCLA CAMPUS AS INSTIGATORS ATTACK STUDENT PROTESTERS
📹 Scenes from the UCLA college campus in Los Angeles, California, where student protesters with the Palestine solidarity movement are violently stormed, assaulted and arrested by police in riot gear who treat Americans as an occupying force.
Protesters at the campus were overwhelmingly peaceful and non-violent, chanting in support of Palestinians under siege, bombardment and blockade in the Gaza Strip.
Violence instead came in the form of pro-Zionist instigators and provocateurs who threw objects at protesters who refused to engage with them.
The violence then escalated when Police forces, who had looked-on as protesters were attacked by a group of pro-Zionists in masks, stormed the encampment and violently assaulted and arrested protesters, using batons to beat students while a police helicopter hovered overhead.
Dozens of protesters were arrested in the raid.

truly the modern au that preserves most directly the Impact of orufrey is:
Olruggio and Qifrey are married, and Oru mostly gets referred to by Qifrey as ‘my husband’ while Qifrey is at work. Qifrey is an untenured physics professor at some out of the way college.
Qifrey does tend to be the sort of professor who’s fun, but wants to pretend that his personal life doesn’t exist while at work. All his students know is that ‘my husband’ does his IT. Slowly by things Qifrey mentions his students learn that ‘my husband’ is also a night owl, also has a physics degree, and likes to cook.
And then Qifrey attends a department social with the man who Won the Nobel prize three years ago for revolutionizing the combustion engine. Olruggio spends the whole night referring to himself as ‘Qifrey’s trophy husband’. He has been on at least one variety show (he hated it).
Qifrey, three glasses of wine in, mentions they got engaged after he was almost thrown out of his phd program on charges of academic dishonesty, but his advisor, Beldaruit (credited with 1/3 of fixing the standard model to incorporate massive neutrinos) came through. The charges were false, and the investigation toppled a fraternity.
Coco, a freshman, studying physics bc she’s obsessed with being an astronaut, doesn’t know who any of these people are because she doesn’t follow engineering news and doesn’t know enough physics to care about massive neutrinos.

Student protests calling for divestment from Israel on university campuses around the United States are the latest sign of public discontent with the Israel-Palestine conflict. Some notable violent clashes have recently taken place, such as on the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) campus, where demonstrators and counter-demonstrators fought at a student encampment overnight on 30 April. However, between 7 October and 3 May, the overwhelming majority of student demonstrations — 97% — have remained peaceful.
Police intervention against conflict-related student demonstrations increased by more than eight times in April compared to March. Since October, police have arrested demonstrators and physically dispersed crowds much more frequently at demonstrations with counter-demonstrators. However, in cases where student demonstrators have gathered unopposed, police have intervened against pro-Palestine demonstrations more than five-and-a-half times as often as pro-Israel demonstrations.

It's election year again, which means you get to get screamed at by both sides to vote for "the lesser of two evils" and get told you're trash if you refuse to actively vote for your oppressors 🫠
Fuck you, I will not vote for a fucking person who supports genocide. I refuse to vote for rapists. I refuse to vote for abusers. I refuse to vote for people who fucking BOMB LITTLE KIDS. I refuse to vote bLuE nO mAtTeR who because those same fucking people TOOK RIGHTS AWAY AFTER PROMISING THEY WOULDN'T. They're both wings on the SAME FUCKING BIRD, and if you think telling marginalized people they're "asking for it" because they refuse to vote for their oppressors is any kind of fucking help, you're part of the fucking issue.
You're not fucking woke for bullying marginalized people into voting for the fucking hangman wearing a different color. You're not fucking making a difference aside from the fact that you have ensured that these people now feel EVEN MORE OSTRACIZED bc we refused to actively participate in our rights being taken. Yeah, votes for senate and shit matter- we've known for DECADES NOW that our votes DO NOT MATTER in presidential elections due to the electoral college. Save your fucking energy for ACTUALLY MAKINGA DIFFERENCE rather than just telling marginalized people we're doing it to ourselves

Often I look back at my life and in particular my debased, pusillanimous fear of catching myself enjoying cringey neckbeard geek shit and I am overcome with shame and guilt and self-revulsion, but I can at least console myself that I was an unabashed homestuck. That has to shave off a few years of inauthenticity-purgatory

is your cty hate about working or attending??? I worked there last summer and the kids were nice and cool but the program itself was an unmitigated disaster
sort of neither?? i just met cty alums in college who were insufferable about it in a Former Gifted Child way so i think of it as Their Annoying Thing
#i am not an understander of people who are so obsessed with their summer camp that they go back to work there as adults#i'm also just like a bit of a gifted n talented programming skeptic particularly when it's so tied to test scores#it's also kind of interesting but weird to me there there's such a robust ecosystem of programs and instituions that#feed (mostly wealthy) children directly into brand name universities#i was sort of blissfully unaware of it until college and then i was like wait u mean to tell me this is a billion dollar industry#looked it up and apparently JUST tutoring and test prep franchises JUST in the united states were worth $1.7 billion in 2022#which doesn't even get into summer camps and math circles and the quizzing industry and extracurricular coaching and private schools#it's just this whole weird mostly-cloistered world#that turns out a hell of a lot of people who are blissfully unaware that they've been cultivated to thrive#because it's sold to them as participation in meritocracy#which is not to say it's not ALSO a pressure cooker for all sorts of other things such as mental illness#and it's also not to say that no marginalized students have ever gotten benefits from these programs#i feel like i overcomplicated this a little the long and short answer is that i had a roommate once who was a cty alum and employee#and he was and is the most annoying man i have ever met so i am a hater of things i associate with him on principle#but also all of the other stuff idk#anonymous#ask and receive

I assign you a uni major based on vibes
Tumblr media
History / classics / philosophy / archeology
You liked percy jackson/mythology/dinosaurs as a kid didn't you? You probably know a lot of random facts and have a lot of…. odd opinions. You like the freedom of your major, there's no wrong answers as long as you can justify yourself. And maybe secretly you enjoy the healthy outlet for arguing your point, it won't solve how you feel about that one roommate but all the same. Your family are fairly supportive but you still feel like you have to internalise a lot. Gurl your not gonna get that same hit from your childhood books, try some therapy it'll be okay

Emergency: Help Evacuate My Family From GAZA WAR
Dear Humanity,
I'm Haya from Gaza , from a family of 8 people: my parents, two sons, and four daughters (two of them suffer from allergies).
Tumblr media
I've witnessed the evidence of the tragedy that has struck our lives in Gaza, where my family and I have survived amidst numerous previous wars. But today, we face the most dangerous and fierce battle in the current war. The urgent need intensifies for us, as we have nothing left and are unable to secure our basic needs such as food, water, and safe shelter.
Here is our story - On October 7th, our lives changed forever, my family and I evacuated from northern Gaza to southern Gaza, hoping to return soon, but it wasn't meant to be. Our home was surrounded, burned, and then completely destroyed, Our home, once a fortress of hope, now lay in ruins, a stark reminder of our shattered dreams.
The night before we left from the north to the south was terrifying. Shelling sounds were everywhere, making a loud noise that felt like it went through our souls. Every explosions shook the ground like earthquakes, sending shockwaves of fear through our trembling bodies. filling us with fear. The air smelled of destruction and blood, making it hard to breathe. When dawn came, we saw the devastation around us, realizing our home was now a symbol of loss and despair.
We ran into the streets and with each step we took into the unknown streets, we felt as if we were plunging deeper into the abyss of our shattered existence, leaving behind everything we own in our home: Clothes, important official documents, the car, and literally it's almost everything - the enormity of our loss weighed heavily upon us.
Our home it was where we found hope, safety, and made precious memories. Losing it felt like losing years of our lives, leaving us adrift amidst the wreckage of our shattered existence.
youtube
A brief video depicting the devastation that struck our home and our entire neighborhood in Gaza.
Desperate Plea: Escaping Gaza's Allergy Nightmare
I, Haya, suffer from severe allergy to penicillin-derived medications, and my sister, Amal, also suffers from severe allergies to medications from my family such as Paracetamol and Ibuprofen.
These allergies create a deep sense of fear and anxiety for us, as we live in a constant state of tension and fear of anything that may require a visit to the hospital. We fear being given inappropriate medications due to the unavailability of suitable treatments in Gaza because of war or lack of awareness and not informing the doctor of our allergies, which could lead to serious consequences threatening our lives.

Our dreams are heading towards oblivion in the labyrinth of an uncertain future
My story, along with my siblings, represents a united team of four individuals, three of whom are skilled programmers and one graphic designer. We work as freelancers in the world of freelancing.
Tumblr media
As for my younger sister, she is a student studying at the College of Architecture. She has always carried a big dream in her heart, a dream of being part of changing Gaza, of making it more beautiful and better. She looked forward to the day when she would receive her degree and start building this dream. But the beginning of the war changed everything. The destruction of infrastructure and universities cast shadows of despair over her dreams.
Tumblr media
When I think of my brother in Belgium, I can't help but feel deep sadness. He has been suffering from unbearable anxiety and insomnia since the outbreak of the war. Sleep eludes him at night, and his physical and mental health collapses under the weight of these heavy burdens, negatively affecting his performance at work. Problems and challenges pile up in front of him without the slightest opportunity for rest.
We all feel psychological pressure and extreme anxiety. The war hasn't been limited to external attacks but has deeply infiltrated our daily lives. We search among the rubble for a little safety and the basic resources for survival. Every day comes with a new challenge that we must overcome.
As we sway amidst the rubble of shattered dreams, our souls wrestle and our hearts beat strongly challenging the ravages of war.
Our parents earnestly seek a way to rescue us from this hell, feeling the heavy responsibility for every moment we spend under the shadows of fear and destruction. They dream of a safe place where they can build for us a better future, filled with security and hope, for we deserve life in all its meanings of comfort and peace.
Perhaps this fundraising campaign represents a light in the midst of darkness, it is indeed the only hope we cling to firmly.
I appeal to the world as a whole to hear my cry and the mournful cry of my family in Gaza. We need the helping hand that reaches out to wipe our tears and build a bridge to safety.
Your donation is not just a donation; it's an opportunity to rebuild life and brighten a better tomorrow. Be part of our hopeful story, for we need your hand to start anew.
The purpose of the fundraising campaign
The goal of this fundraising campaign is to rescue my family - my parents, my siblings, and me - through the Rafah Crossing to Egypt, which currently requires $5000 per person. This campaign is our only chance to stay alive, and I humbly request your assistance at this critical time. I will provide you with a comprehensive breakdown of the expenses, committing to transparency and clarity.
