i love the fact that tsum tsum deuce is basically delinquent deuce, only smaller and cuddlier

like deuce explains, he’s very aggressive and quick to anger - it has no impulse control and can and will fight (i.e. headbutt/drop itsy bitsy cauldrons on) anyone 

like, unlike its human counterpart, it doesn’t even pretend to behave or be seen in a positive light, let alone act like the model student deuce is aiming for

but, like all things, there is an exception - and that, dear prefect, is you

you see, tsum deuce is an absolute terror to everyone - everyone except you

in fact, the second it sees you entering the rose maze (trey had you on speed dial the second tsum deuce appeared - everyone say ‘thank you, trey’) it comes bounding over to you and just leaps into your arms

and it just…stays there, all happy and content

and you just look down at this tiny, happy little angelic bean in your hands whilst every single person in heartslabyul is just gawking at how this demon just did a complete 180 degrees personality flip the second you showed up

human deuce is absolutely red faced and has suddenly become very interested in the grass whilst everyone is just giving him the biggest side eyes

so you, being the kind-hearted, altruistic person you are, just smile at the bean in your hands and cheerfully inform everyone that you wouldn’t mind babysitting tsum deuce until crowley finds a way home

everyone except deuce (and grim) is happy with this development

now human deuce already finds it hard to talk to girls but he especially finds it difficult whenever you’re around because he’s literally got the biggest crush on you and has been dying to confess but is way too shy to

but tsum deuce? tsum deuce has no such inhibitions

it will cuddle and snuggle and nuzzle up to you, rubbing against your cheek as it sits on your shoulder or hands as it rests in your palms

tsum deuce likes to grow big so that it can 1) be carried around in that child hug carry that parents do and 2) sit on your lap like a bond villain cat so that you can stroke its head and body

human deuce is not happy with either of these

like tsum deuce is just basking in your endless affection and endeared giggles whilst deuce is suffering so much that even ace gives him somewhat-sincere consoling pats on the back whenever you’d call the little tsum ‘sweetheart’ or ‘dear’ or ‘poppet’ or ‘darling or ‘angel’ or ‘cutie’ - and the list goes on…

what’s worse is that whenever you’re not looking it gives the most deadliest glare to its counterpart and when you turn around it looks back at you like ♡✧(^ ᴗ ^)✧♡

like deuce knows that he’s supposed to keep his head down and nose clean like a good little honour student but his delinquent switch is wobbly on even the best of days and seeing you be so happily touchy-feely with that smug little rascal really does not help those buried instincts

don’t get him wrong, he’s flustered beyond belief at the sight of you being so affectionate to his lookalike but his annoyance and jealousy take precedence 

it all comes to a head when the cheeky bugger decides that its had enough of just receiving your kisses and just full on plants his ‘mouth’ on your lips

it takes everything in deuce to not full on punt it into the sun - especially when you look so flustered as a result, a gorgeous blush spreading across your features as you giggle at the little thing

@disney when are we getting tsum tsum ace? He’s the only first year to not have a marketable plushie

now ace has no problem with you being affectionate to his tsum

you see ace and his tsum get along very well since they have very similar personalities

the two knaves of hearts just love causing trouble and making mischief together 

but being so similar means that at some point they’ve got to clash 

and clash they do >:)

when you come strolling in, tsum ace happily greets you and you, having been filled in on the situation (“thank you, Trey”), are more than happy to keep it entertained so you pet it and coddle it and dole out your sweet affection

and, honestly, it was a huge ego boost to see his crush being so sweet with a smaller version of himself 

of course, he’s going to be all ace about it and tease you like “why are you so affectionate with mini me? do you have a crush on me or something? don’t worry, i understand - i guess i’m too irresistible even as a tsum” with his signature grin

but then the novelty is very quick to wear off when practically all of your attention is being given to the little bean - especially when he realises that his tsum has just as big as a crush on you as he does, and he’s very quick to act on it

like human ace, tsum ace flirts by peacocking, living off of your praise like it’s the oxygen it breathes

and unlike human ace, tsum ace doesn’t tease you, which kind of gives him a head start 

basically tsum ace is an ace who doesn’t hide his insecurities and feelings for you behind a guarded wall of playful teasing and fake carelessness

it would show off by doing card tricks for you, using its own miniature deck it got from seven knows where to do all sorts of tricks - that do genuinely impress you 

and with every successful trick you’d clap your hands with stars in your eyes and fondly coo at it

and it would eat all of your praise up – with every flirty behaviour you would enable it with more positive reinforcement, spurring it to get bolder and bolder and ace is absolutely dying next to you

ace has a habit of ruffling your hair so tsum ace likes to sit on your head as you go about your day and everyone can swear they see sparkles surrounding the two of you

(ace doesn’t notice because that’s what you look like to him anyway)

you even gave mini ace the glacé cherry on the iced bun you had for dessert that day, hand-feeding the sweet fruit right into the little tsum’s mouth right in front of Ace’s cherry pie (and no, not even the taste of his favourite food can wash away the bitterness corroding his tongue at the sight of you and his tsum getting all buddy-buddy, not when something so much sweeter is just out of his reach)

quit paying attention to it! doesn’t it have its own y/n to flirt with?!

then, at one point, tsum ace has conjured up a tiny rose and has gifted it to you

“for me,” you smile at the tsum and the tsum nods, happily jumping up and down in front of you, “oh you shouldn’t have.”

you carefully take the rose from the tsum and gently pick the tsum up and place a kiss right on its head

“thank you, tsum ace,” you say, giggling with fondness, “that’s for being such a sweetheart.”

ace’s hand clenches around his magic pen and he swears right then and there that it’s no more mister nice guy – no more hiding behind poorly crafted taunts in fear of what ifs

he’s confessing to you by the end of the day even if it kills him

honestly, leona couldn’t care less about the little things that came from the sky - not his circus, not his monkeys

though he was kind of miffed when his dorm thought he had turned into that stubby little thing 

he’s surrounded by idiots

he just palmed his own tsum off to ruggie and went off to the botanical gardens to nap

it was during one of his relaxation sessions that he heard your voice, only you were talking to someone 

turns out that ‘someone’ was his own tsum that was happily snoozing on your shoulder

apparently the little guy didn’t take kindly to being babysat by ruggie so it literally hunted you down and refused to leave your side

you didn’t see any problem with this

so you just continued on with your day with a tiny version of the big kitty of savanaclaw 

please understand that leona is a very jealous and greedy lion - he gets incredibly possessive if stray cats get close to you, let alone when you shower Grim with your affection - and now there’s an equally as greedy mini leona that’s demanding your attention

like it made it clear that it was trying to monopolize your attention, tail swaying in delight as you would pet its head or play with its ears - all things that you’d do with the bigger leona

it would jump up and press its head against your forehead, cheeks and mouth so you would kiss it back with your own lips (and leona just looks at the little judas all betrayed because you’ve never kissed him ever and he’s just so angry and jealous that he doesn’t even tease you about it)

so instead of spending time with him, where he rests his head on your thighs as you weave your fingers through his hair, you’re playing around with the tsum, giving it the affection that was rightfully his

at one point, it was still dozing off so you placed it nice and snug in the breast pocket of your blouse, making Leona’s right eye twitch uncontrollably when he could tell that the little deviant wasn’t even actually sleeping

honestly, he scoffs, faking sleep is the oldest trick in the book - and he knows that because he uses it on you all the time

you even played chess with it, and to leona’s surprise it was actually pretty good, only his slight amusement at watching you lose was tainted by how you were suddenly praising it for being such a good player - he’s good too! praise him!

he had finally reached his limit when his tiny doppelganger used its growing abilities to be large enough for you to wrap your arms around and bury your face into, your lovely features smiling in content as you happily sleep, unaware of the burning jealousy and intense scowl leona is giving the tsum in your embrace, or of the smug satisfaction said tsum is radiating

now leona is a man of strategy, of patiently waiting until it’s the right time to pounce, so for now he’ll just settle at baring his fangs at the little runt - he’s spent his entire life being second best (both to his brother, his nephew, that damned lizard), there is no way he’s going to be outshone by a furball that has no idea of the hierarchy of the food chain here. you’re the one thing in his life that he refuses to have taken away, even if it is by himself

and when you wake up?

tsum tsum idia is such a sweetheart

while it does have idia’s social anxiety, he does hang around with you through the halls though by ‘hang around’ he’s usually buried in your pockets

tsum idia doesn’t have og idia’s fire hair but it does run naturally warm, which makes it the perfect warm pillow for you to snuggle with

idia didn’t have any strong feelings for his tsum. ortho loved it and it made you happy and that was it.

but it soon became a problem when it made you too happy

you see, idia had made a tiny little tablet so that you could play with the tsum whilst he was busy doing one of his own games

and like his counterpart, the tsum was good

too good

so good that you kept on praising it and snuggling with it every time it won

and apparently the tsum was in possession of some preloaded charm stats because it would keep on endearing you by texting you blue heart emojis or cute stickers that would make you coo at it

and watching you be so outwardly affectionate to someone that wasn’t ortho or grim definitely stung inside

even if that someone was a cuter, cuddlier, plush bean version of himself

so he just amped up the volume in his headset to drown out the sounds of your laughter and continued playing as he internally lamented how he was such a boring otaku that even a tsum has better moves than him

when it got late and you were about to leave (much to idia’s disappointment), you stood up only for the tsum to jump onto your shoulder and happily jump in place

“oh,” you giggle, “do you want to come to ramshackle with me?”

the tsum jumped up and down, indicating yes

“alright then,” you smile and turn to idia, “i guess we’ll see yo-”

“no-” he blurted out, the ends of his hair bursting into pink at the sudden silence that envelops the room, “i-i mean, you can stay. here. not here my room here - like here in ignihyde here. we have a spare room. unless you’d like to sleep over here in my room. if you want to that is. you don’t have to if you don’t want to infactyoucanforgetievensaidanythingohmysevenwhydidihavetoopenmymouth-”

“it’s okay, idia, i understand,” you say, “looks like we’re having a sleepover!”

Suguru Geto - JJK character analysis (near complete?)

“I gave everything I had, and it failed. It all crashed in front of me. And nobody did anything— not before me— not now. I’m seeing something nobody else sees. I’m sitting in these shadows and nobody cares about me. And here Gojo is, not doing a thing— and they praise him.” - my interpretation of Geto’s thought processes post Riko Amane’s assassination.

Crying about Geto because he went through so much. Geto was compassionate and idealistic before he defected. After such intense, prolonged trauma caused by the darkness of humans, and after growing disillusioned towards the world due to how unhelpful jujutsu society was— Geto felt utterly confused, resentful, and abandoned. The very system that was supposed to represent goodness (Jujutsu Society) simply prolonged the cycle of pain and suffering. It failed everyone— it failed him. Everything he’d believed was a shattered mirror, reflecting the cracks and flaws of humanity— and Geto saw that. Jujutsu Society praised Gojo for his innate talent, whilst neglecting the cracks in its system and the world, and neglecting Geto. In Geto’s turmoil, Geto was overcome by disenchantment— losing his faith and shedding his past sense of self— his good nature replaced with bitterness towards Gojo, simultaneously accompanied with a developed, narrow perspective on normal humans. (As we see with “Are you the strongest because you’re Satoru Gojo, or are you Satoru Gojo because you’re the strongest?” — Geto brings up the age old question of nature Vs nurture. He’s essentially asking Gojo if his power is the reason for his success, or if his power shaped his identity. Who is Gojo? Did he get any choice in defining himself? —He didn’t. Gojo’s whole personality is based off of his power, which determined how he was treated— the Strongest, seen as a functioning tool. —And regarding Gojo’s power: What was once a deep admiration towards Gojo, turned into resentment and envy from Geto��s end, as Geto realized Gojo wasn’t changing the corrupt systems, nor did Geto have the luxury of power to have made a difference. Geto felt spurned, and also believed normal people were unworthy of ruling, and the only way to save the world from its already unjust systems was to overthrow everything and use power to rule. After all, power is all that matters in terms out how you can change the world, which is your worth in the world— and Geto wanted that. He wanted power. He wanted to be worthy the way Gojo was— he was hurting. Maybe if he had Gojo’s level of power, he wouldn’t be in this much pain. Maybe he would’ve been able to stop other people from being evil and actually have had footing in this world. Maybe people would be listening to him, appreciating him. —Or maybe, Jujutsu Society was just a phony, after all. And normal humans were useless to change anything— all they did, in Geto’s mind, was feed into the evil nature of the world. …Geto became resentful, callous, cold, evil because of the wrongdoings inflicted on him, which resulted in his misinformed beliefs about humans and his behavior run wild with blind spite. He truly believed that the pain he inflicted on humans was justified, and he reveled in it because he had been hurt so deeply and saw it as reparations, even.

Do I believe what Geto did was okay? Absolutely not. He had much too rigid a way of seeing humans— as all bad— and that was a fallacy. But he was only 17 when he faced such confusing, extreme, difficult circumstances, and it distorted his worldview. I can’t blame him. He WAS good. But being around constant darkness wore him down, thus he descended into a callous man devoid of empathy. His actions after defecting are deplorable and not okay, however, he truly deserves compassion too. Many others, had they been in his situation, would’ve ended up horribly warped too.

How could Geto have done better, so as not to become the evil, rigid and disillusioned, cold and harmful, person he became? This is an important question. I’m still figuring it out myself. This analysis is to be continued. For now I’d say that he was unable to empathize with humans beyond his own pain and suffering, and it’s a cautionary tale about how wrapped up we can get in our own trauma and suffering— which leads us to being incapable of seeing and understanding things beyond our own individual pain, which leads us to inflicting undue injustice into others. It’s crucial that we take the time to understand the depth and complexity of humanity. The inherent value in humans.

I’m sorry, Geto. For all you went through, and for ever judging you without the fuller scope of understanding. You deserved better.

pairing: yeonjun x non idol!reader summary: yeonjun loved being in love. especially since he got to be in love with you. word count: 1.0k extra: inspired by taylor swift's 'king of my heart'! apart of my valentines day series

liking yeonjun was like liking water. everyone did. you’d never meet one person who didn’t have something positive to say about him. even ex girlfriends praised him. he was a gentleman, through and through.

and that’s what made liking him so difficult. he was too kind for his own good at times. always lending you his sweater when you shivered even the slightest. picking a specific movie you had mentioned once weeks ago. 

small things. 

he remembered the way you took your coffee. the song you claim you grew up listening to on repeat. both of your parents birthdays, and their anniversary.

most importantly, he remembers the day he first laid eyes on you. 

it wasn’t the first day you met. that day wouldn’t come for another two years. but the day he first saw you was just as crystal clear in his memory as what he ate for lunch. it was something he would never forget.

he was dropping kai off after practice, and you were visiting lea. the two of you were outside, and whilst you didn’t even register the car pulling up, yeonjun instantly saw you.

he was mesmermized. 

and by the time he asked kai about you, it was two weeks later. and you were back off at school states away. 

the two of you wouldn’t run into each other again until two years later, when one fateful night would lead to the two of you meeting, for real this time.

you were alone in the bar, lea off laughing with friends as you sat talking away with the bartender.

(the two of you went to high school together, you’d later tell yeonjun when he’d inquire about the night.)

he first noticed lea, but the moment he saw you he felt like he was eighteen again, seeing you for the first time. sure, time had passed, but you still looked similar to how you did back then.

not even three weeks after your chance encounter, he was already calling you ‘baby’. you felt like a school-girl in love once again whenever he would utter that word under his breath, trying to be discrete about it.

it felt like a fairtytale ending. something so sweet. so perfect. it was idealistic. 

idyllic, he once called it. you didn’t know what the word had meant, not at the time at least. extremely happy, peaceful, or picturesque. checked out.

the two of you just fit together like puzzle pieces. despite any beliefs you had surrounding the idea of being single forever, yeonjun was able to convince you to give him a try.

he was the one you had spent your whole life waiting for - your knight in shining armour (or whatever the saying was).

he treated you like he worshiped the ground you walked on, which all your friends fawned over, but you found slightly unhealthy. to you, there was absolutely nothing special about you as a human being. you did the same things every day - wake up, go to work, go home, go to bed. it was a constant cycle of nothingness.

yeonjun on the other hand? he was cool. he had an exciting life. he was famous. you were the one that should be treating him like he was royalty - like he was god. but he freaked out whenever you tried.

"jjunie!" you called out, seeing him. there was such a wide smile on his face you were surprised he wasn't in pain.

he didn't say anything, just raced towards you. it didn't matter that he was tired, and sweaty, and just wanted to go home.

you were there.

"i missed you," he mumbled into your ear, his grip on you so tight you were worried someone would have to pry him off of you. "did you see the show?"

you nodded, unsure if he would really be able to understand the gesture. of course you saw the show. "you were amazing, serious-" you began to praise him, only for him to interrupt you with a soft kiss to the forehead.

"you don't need to go into detail, i already get told that a hundred times a day." he groaned, rolling his eyes. you could tell he was embarrassed. but it was the truth. he was good.

"whatever," you laughed, taking his hand in yours. "you never let me compliment you."

he smirked slightly, choosing to not deny the claim, but also not agree with it. "yeah, yeah. i saw that boy, during soundcheck. he was doing some checking of his own." he huffed, though you could tell his annoyance was not aimed towards you, but the boy who had been (apparently) flirting with you.

now it was your turn to smirk. "you know those boys are nothing compared to you! doesn't matter if they're millionaires with expensive cars, you're the one who lives in my heart."

he nodded, resting his chin on your head. he was already done with the conversation. he knew you would never hurt him, but the reassurance was nice. the confirmation leaving your lips, not one of his members.

"if i died right now, i would die happy."

you furrowed your eyebrows slightly, tilting your head up to look at him. this caused him to look down at you.

"i feel like a teenager in love again when i have you with me. like i'm still seventeen, pining over the girl in my physics class."

his voice was almost a whisper, as if even he wasn't sure of what he was saying.

"i know sometimes you doubt yourself, but this right here? what we have? it is enough. it is so much more then enough, actually."

you weren't even sure where all of these confessions were coming from. it was as if someone had given him a truth serum, and he was just spilling his guts.

"you know, i didn't date at all before you. you are the one i have been waiting for, all these years."

those words reminded you just why exactly you were in love with choi yeonjun. it wasn't because of his money, or his status, or his looks. it was nothing about who he was on the outside. it was because of the person he was beneath all of that. his feelings, his hopes, his dreams.

all of that is that made you fall in love with him.

and all of that is the reason he was the king of your heart, body, and soul.

Mary & George

So we finally have the show we have been asking for since 2016 (I went back and checked my old posts to make sure and it was indeed 2016 where the "British King Can't Stop Promoting His Boyfriend" post did the rounds).

How did it fair in reality? Well, its hardly Tumblr friendly fanfiction - though it was certainly raunchy - at least at the start. This show was scandalous, sexy, rather filthy at times (in a good way), and absolutely stunning in terms of its production and costume design for sure. It falls very much in line with the expectations of modern period dramas in a post Game of Thrones world where we have shows like The Great, and movies like The Favourite gracing our screens far more regularly than endless fucking retellings of Henry the Eighth which are so fucking common I have even been in one of them myself (sorry - my bitter hatred for stories about Henry VIII and his bloody wives is difficult to restrain).

So FINALLY getting a show set during the reign of James I and VI of England and Scotland and his love affair with the Duke of Buckingham is definitely a breath of fresh air.

But its definitely not the beautiful queer love story tumblr might have hoped for when we all first saw that post.

Nope. If you're looking for a happy tale of queer love overcoming adversity, stick with Red, White, and Royal Blue. Mary & George is not a love story. Its a story of scheming manipulative people who will do anything to get money and power. It's a story that uses sex as a weapon and a tool for personal gain. There is no fluffy romance to be found here, no sweet queer love story and no happy ever after.

I mean, this IS the British monarchy we're talking about, during an extremely dark and horrific period of our history only a short time before the country was plunged into Civil War and a King lost his head. But you've been warned anyway. All you'll find here is brutality, betrayal and eventual death.

Regardless of that, this show was fucking brilliant. The first three episodes in particular are quick witted and hilarious and refuse to shy away from treating queer sex scenes any differently to straight ones. The full frontal male nudity that crops up was also a pleasant surprise - I'm happy that cinema has generally accepted a more balanced approach to nudity nowadays - also a surprise was the lesbian romance which was probably the only genuine romance in the entire show. It leaves you wondering throughout but by the final few episodes its clear that if any love is "true" in this show, its the love between Mary and Sandie.

I absolutely adored Julianne Moore in this as Mary Villiers, who ruthlessly claws her way into power and money through schemes, seductions, betrayals, murders, and anything else you can think of. But even with all of this, I can't help but root for her. Who doesn't want to root for a scheming lesbian and her lover as they manipulate everyone around them and ensure they always get the better of the horrible men that make up King James' court? In this house we support Womens Wrongs.

As far as George goes, Nicholas Galitzine is brilliant as a beautiful but dim mummy's boy in the first few episodes, throwing tantrums and pouting with perfection. He shines in the later episodes as the arrogant and powerful Duke who believes he is practically untouchable due to his hold over the King, whilst still showing through the vulnerability underneath where that relationship remains precarious. The underlying joke of the show is that everyone wants George, and George wants everyone. He's a slutty slutty man.

You know how tumblr has a tendency to split queer stories into one of two camps - either pure sweet romantic love stories or very bad evil messy queer stories? (a gross simplification but you get what I mean) Well Mary and George falls firmly in the second camp. I enjoyed it for what it was, but I was a bit dissapointed that the general approach and belief of the storytellers here is that George used the King for personal gain, that the King was nothing more than a hedonistic fool who let his favourites manipulate him, and that any actual love between them was shallow and fleeting. Its all extremely cynical.

Especially since we know its not true. the surviving letters we have between King James and George paint a much more romantic picture, one where love was definitely a significant factor in their affair. Yes, historians love to play down queer history as best they can, but I don't believe that George Villiers was quite the manipulative little slut this show makes him out to be.

And yeah, sure, we can laugh and dismiss any true history involved. Its just a story after all? It was a bloody good story and one I enjoyed, but was it a fair portrayal of the actual men involved? Probably not - then again, the actual men involved weren't very nice anyway, and the show glossed over a lot of King James' more infamous sins. His obsession with witches and demons leading to the horrifying witch trials throughout the country were completely left out. There was also no mention of the famous King James Bible - the one that heavily emphasised any passages alluding to homosexuality being a sin which is used so frequently even today by religious zealots to persecute gay men. The Sodomy laws during King James' reign were enforced with such brutality that they brought us the slur "f*gg*t" (which I'm not explaining here). Yet the show displays acts of sodomy as such a normal part of court life that you'd almost think it wasn't totally punishable by death.

I shouldn't complain. Especially not about the lack of homophobia. Its a great show. You should watch it. But take it with a pinch of salt. The true story of James and George was probably one with a lot more secrecy involved, a lot more sneaking about in the night (after all, why build a secret passage between their bedrooms if they weren't trying to hide it?) and therefore a lot more hypocrisy on the part of the King.

There are some very touching scenes between King James and George, and I feel the show attempted to portray the relationship between them as complex and multilayered, but I'm not sure it succeeds as well as I would have hoped. But perhaps I am just a silly tumblr romantic who likes her queer love stories to actually include genuine love within them, and I always hoped that any story about King James and George would focus on how that love grew over time. Because whilst George obviously went along with things initially for personal gain, I think the evidence we have at least gives an indication that he did love the King, and the King clearly loved George, and I am interested in a story about how they navigated that love at a period of time where it did need to be kept secret, even if it was a fairly open secret, where things such as the King James Bible and the Witch Trials would have affected them, and where George's rise to power would have caused so much conflict and anger within the court.

But regardless of all that, I still loved the show. Its still worth the watch. The gays deserve more messy sexy dramas where they get to be ruthless and powerful and slutty and murderous. Its excellent viewing for all.

Ultimately though, I may have came for the gay duke and his love affair with the King, but I stayed for the lesbians. The lesbians were awesome.

I started in DC by reading fanfics, but as I began to read actual comics, I started to be unable to read the actual fanfic that got me into it in the first place because it's so out of character.

But there are still some stories that I love to read because I love the found family trope so much, even if it isn't really accurate to the source material.

As a comics purist (sometimes), are there tropes that you like enough that you'll still enjoy a fic even if it's not accurate to canon?

oh my god this is SUCH a fun question. bc while i started with the comics, there were certain characters and/or character dynamics where i was exposed to the fanon before the canon (just bc it's hard to read everything when you start out just to read some fanfic) and so i've definitely experienced the fanon to canon transition. (*especially* with Jason Todd. i had only read 80s/90s stuff where he was already dead or the New-52 bc that was on-going when i got into comics and man. the fanon misunderstandings i had about him before i got frustrated and sat down to read all his pre-Flashpoint stuff were absolutely bonkers.) and aside from that, whilst i tend to prefer canon over fanon, i'm not past giving fanon its flowers for occasionally having really interesting insights. occasionally. so some of my fanon "guilty pleasure" tropes would probably be

Morally Grey Tim Drake - this is one where if you try to back it up with canon, i *will* get salty about it. of everyone in the Batfam aside from maybe Bruce and Cass, Tim has the *most* black and white morals. often his internal conflicts are routed in such an inability to compromise his moral views and it can cause him to clash with other characters. he's *very* stiff and rigid in his beliefs and is *rare* to compromise in even the smallest ways. i mean, DC has repeatedly used Tim Drake of Tomorrow/Savior/Gun Batman!Tim for a reason. it's to demonstrate that of everyone, Tim *cannot* have his morals compromised. there's no grey area for him. he's zero or a hundred, so if he tips over the edge of "too far" he tips *all the way*, and doing so is one of his worst fears, how he could go "too far" if he let himself. a couple panels out of context from Red Robin (2009) (which was a grief spiral for Tim to begin with) don't change that. now that said. if it's done *right*, i sort of love Tim being morally grey in fanfic. it takes a specific flavor for me, and it's incredibly important to include that mental spiral along with it, of him struggling to justify it. i don't have any interest in "Tim Drake is loosy goosy with Bruce's morals and has the highest kill count and no one knows teehee" bc it doesn't play with the interesting parts of making Tim morally grey, which are fracturing his psyche. but all in all, i think it's fun to put Tim in a morally grey area and i will read it in fanfic and i enjoy writing it a lot

Joker Junior!Tim Drake - i've not written it on this account (yet) but on my main ao3 account one of my biggest fics surrounds this concept. this is one of those "well *technically* it's canon but only in a specific very divorced from the comics universe and would not work at all in the main timeline" so, i categorize it as fanon in that 95% of fics exploring the concept are not doing so within the Batman Beyond universe, but the main timeline. i just love it. I'll take any excuse to whump Tim, but this concept is so fun. psychologically breaking Tim will always be my favorite pastime. there are so many ways to explore the long-term effects this could have on him, how it could affect the Batfam. i'm not a fan of it being used as a "gotcha" to Jason or Babs' trauma with the Joker to paint Tim as the Ultimate Victim, but it is fun to see how their relationships would be affected by being mutual victims of him. (i have a vague JayTim idea where TIm fully retires from being Robin after being Joker Junior and killing the Joker, making Steph Robin for most of his typical Robin era and Jason still tracks him down out of curiosity bc he wants to know what happened and all. very underbaked but i've got thoughts.)

Renegade/Apprentice of Slade!Dick Grayson - this is another one where yes, this happened *sort of* in canon, but i highly doubt most people writing Renegate!Dick have read or are actually pulling from Nightwing: Renegade. it's just an exploration fo the concept fo Dick being Slade's apprentice and i will always eat it up in any capacity. whether Dick grows up with Slade from a young age, or chooses Slade for whatever reason later in life. it's not anything that works in canon bc it compromises Dick morally (similar to the above with Tim) and therefore will always come across incredibly fanon in most fics. but i can't say i don't enjoy it. it's fun to make Dick a little morally fucked up and see what you can make him under Slade's tutelage.

Jason & Damian Meeting in the League -there's no world where i believe this could work in the canon comics. (maybe in the Young Justice cartoon i suppose, but even then i think it's iffy) i would go as far to say it's wildly unrealistic. i don't see a world where Ra's would let Jason anywhere *near* Damian, bc Jason was Talia's pet project that he didn't approve of. that all said, there's something very interesting about how they *could've* met and them potentially bonding during that timeframe. them being somewhat brotherly during this time because Jason sees Bruce in Damian and sort of latches onto the kid and Damian is full of wonder hearing real stories about Batman and Robin, then that getting violently ripped away by Jason leaving the League is fun to me. it's fun how that could affect them within the Batfam and all. it's super fanon to me, but i do not care. i will eat it up

Bad Dad Clark Kent/Good Dad Lex Luthor - i will admit as a late, i've been less and less kind to this particular fanon bc of everything i've argued with people about, *this* one seems the most pervasive as misunderstood fanon. i don't mind when fanon exists, my gripe is when ppl try to claim it's canon. and the *arguments* i've had over this with people who can never seem to cite an actual comic are... frustrating. but that said, i think there is something fun to this strictly in fanon. the duality of who you expect to accept Kon and who you expect to hurt him being flipped is just sort of fun for the occasional guilty pleasure fic. it can make Kon's internal conflict a bit more interesting. the same goes for the Jon favoritism from Clark, it's not a canon thing (and i rlly wish ppl understood how complicated the timeline of Kon and Jon is and any distance from Clark toward Kon isn't malice, it's that Kon is from a timeline that Clark does not remember in the current canon so Clark just straight up doesn't know the poor kid.) but it's sort of fun to give Kon that complex of being overlooked and forgotten sometimes. making Kon just a *bit* more Luthor than Kent will *always* appeal to me in fanfic, especially if he *knows* it's wrong but craves approval from anyone who will give it.

Good Dad Bruce Wayne - i'll die on the hill Bruce is canonically a shitty father. maybe not to the extreme some people write him as, but he's not great at it. that said, i enjoy it in fanfiction. sometimes, i just want silly fluff or hurt/comfort where Bruce finally gets it right and manages to comfort whatever Batkid is in the fic. one of my favorite fics of all time is hinged on Bruce being a good dad, so i think it's just fun to explore how good the relationships *could* be, if Bruce was slightly less of an asshole. i usually prefer him as an asshole, but there are times i want low stakes nonsense.

Gotham Rogues Having Soft Spots for Robin(s) - just about every Rogue in Gotham has done something absolutely irredeemable, and most of them don't like or care about anyone in the Batfamily. but if there's a fic where one of the Robins inexplicably is sort of close with a Rogue and they have a cute silly relationship out of it? I'll eat it up i fear. Steph and the Riddler are besties? I'll believe it. Tim and Scarecrow get along pretty well? give me ten of these. Rogues protecting Robins just hits a spot. the unexpected nature of the relationship, as well as the fact they see each other regularly, can make a lot of good fodder.

Gore Mod Review

Okay I'm not sure where to begin. Most of what I can say is just...wow. I'm going to be completely honest I installed this mod on a complete whim, I wasn't even really looking for a follower mod specifically, it was more of a I've experienced the mods I have repeatedly by this point. I'm not complaining I still love the mods I have and the followers I already have that being: Kaidan, Lucien and Inigo, but I kind of wanted something fresh and I got all that and much more.

Spoilers but extremely vague ones

Okay so when I initially met Gore I went in with the mindset of not comparing him to my other followers I already have grown to know and love because that would not only set high expectations, but its also completely demeaning to the mod creator.

When you first meet him I was just immediately drawn to him because he is just so easily likeable, but I think the moment that truly solidified that I'd never play another playthrough without him was during the climb to High Hrothgar. His presence and reassurance was just everything to me because thinking about it if I was truly the dragonborn I'd be terrified, all that responsibility in such a short amount of time is daunting (especially considering that it was only recently you were about to be executed) and he really reminded me to take a moment to prioritise myself and what I was feeling.

The small things really sold this mod to me as well as the amazing voice acting and story...he just feels so real? Not to mention that I sobbed his entire story because it was like looking into a mirror. I really resonated with him and I could really see him as my best friend.

Okay now for genuine spoilers depending on choices

His optional romance route was just utterly stunning. It flowed so so easily and didn't feel forced or rushed it just felt so natural. It all really hit close to home though his struggles with relationships and the concept that someone would actually like him for him and not be disgusted by his past. As someone who's never been in a relationship let alone been near another person in that sort of fashion it was just so comforting to both be in the same boat. The build up and everything was just so well executed from him trying to push you away by giving you reasons to end things to finally accepting that you do want to be with him even if it's foreign to him.

But whether you choose to romance him or to remain friends my favourite quality of his is that he is uniquely him; by that I mean he genuinely feels like a real person because he's humorous and he has his own thoughts, feelings and opinions and he will make them known and he stays true to himself and his beliefs all whilst growing as a person and learning to be better. Despite everything he's been though he's such a positive figure to have even if he thinks otherwise and its so nice to get to be apart of his journey and watch him learn to be content with himself as well as his past. I cannot sing his praises enough I genuinely have so much love for the character and the creator. He's become my favourite companion in such a short time and I could write for hours and hours about how much I love Gore and how much I appreciate your work but I won't...Just thankyou so much for making me and everyone who plays this mod seen and felt and much love to you! And I urge everyone to get the mod to experience this absolute treasure! 💞

Everytime I read Nevermore I keep thinking of how to Annabel Lee absolutely everyone but her and Lenore are corpses. She's interacting with people she considers fully dead already whilst Lenore deeply cares about everyone's lives. And neither of them is truly correct! They're neither dead nor alive, and the stated rules are that only one person will live again. They operate under different beliefs about circumventing the game but so far neither of them has proof that it's possible.

besides the obvious attraction, i think it's actually pretty close to a lot of the reasons pete has previously analysed in the fic as the source of vegas' obsession with him.

but i think the most significant one is pete has seen the absolute worst of vegas, the monster that he believes he is, and is the only person to not flinch away or treat him with disgust or try to kill him for existing. pete accepts him. in a way that everyone else vegas has ever been around or reached out to hasnt. and hes the first one to not turn their back on him- to just give up on vegas because thats the path of least resistance. like yeah of course pete wants some of his behaviours to improve (and they only did so because vegas realised he didnt want the safehouse dynamic- he wanted something real and was actually receptive to that) but hes not trying to intrinsically change vegas as a person.

for someone who has been treated like a monster all of his life, rejected and spurned and hated to have someone see him as he is without judgement or hatred or pity that is an impossibly powerful thing to vegas. like no lie pete literally is a lifeline extended to vegas and even after everything is still here (ive mentioned in past posts that there have been people who have treated vegas kindly throughout his life- the lady who worked in their kitchens before kan fired her for example- but these are all fleeting encounters before his father caught wind and sent them away to keep vegas isolated).

i think after kan's obsession with porsche's mum and how it twisted him up inside he truly believed that love was such a terrible weakness that he wanted to stamp it out of vegas- wanted to convince him not only that he's incapable of love but that anyone else is also incapable of loving him also.

so vegas understanding of himself is a combo of his father's cruelty and how that has shaped his self worth. so the significance of pete- standing alone outside of all of these preconceived beliefs- and proving them wrong by virtue of still sticking around and not fleeing from him. by not rejecting vegas but treating him with compassion along with the expectation that vegas can improve his behaviour and be in a functioning romantic relationship and have emotional and social connections like this when hes been told that nobody would ever willingly choose him.

even if pete is unable to admit to his own feelings, vegas knows enough to pick up on pete's care of him, his intention to treat him gently when nobody else would have ever thought to before. to bring vegas into his home, around his family and trust that vegas can be accepted amongst them. to have saved his little brother without even needing to be asked- pete shoring up vegas' weaknesses and sharing in his burdens in a way that vegas cant write off as obligation (in the same way he might of how deeply macau loves and admires him like vegas self worth can only tie that up into expectation and obligation of blood ties and family- not love). because after all the horrible things hes done to pete, pete would never be obliged to do a single thing for him ever again- so vegas can't convince himself of petes actions being anything but genuine. all of these acts whilst seeming like small things are HUGE for vegas who has never experienced it before.

so essentially pete makes him feel human in a way that he hasnt felt for a ridiculously long time and being with pete is a huge step in the right direction of vegas finally recognising what hes been taught about himself from his father since childhood might not necessarily be true. and being able to understand that hes done monstrous things (which id argue is the most human part of us all even if we dont always act on it) but he can still grow and be better. petes treatment of him is a lifeline for now but his love of pete is something that proves hes capable of more- and also profoundly affects pete in a way that prevents him from dismissing his own value. even after all the horrible things vegas has inflicted on him - hes also having an extremely positive affect on how pete views his treatment of himself too. like vegas is helping to fill in the gaps that pete left in his own life and reasoned that approach was fine i.e the lack of sexual gratification but especially his lack of value in his own life. the pete at the end of this fic will be a pete that would never obediently agree into sending himself to infiltrate an enemy's household with the possibility of being caught and killed. so they really have both negatively and positively made a colossal impact on each other's lives.

i mean i could go on forever about this lol but i'll stop here because this is getting very long hahaha. hope that answers most of your question!

Mark would be so taken aback, like you? Insecure? You are perfect in his eyes, and although he understands everyone has their inner struggles, it just gives him whiplash for a moment that you don’t see yourself the way he sees you. He would hold your hands and look into your eyes, stumbling through the most nonsensical repetitive sentence full of ‘but like’ and ‘just’ before landing on the most heartwarming declaration of his belief in your complete supremacy. He entirely understands and empathises with the feeling of being insecure and knows it isn’t something you can just snap out of, but he will tell you over and over again why he loves whatever it is that you’re insecure about. He absolutely refuses to let you tell yourself that you aren’t good enough in any way and wants to encourage you to be confident in yourself for whom you are rather than trying to change yourself. From there on becomes the voice countering any self-deprecating thoughts, making sure his words remind you of all the charms and goodness you possess every single day. 

Renjun 

Initially, he might not entirely take you seriously because he just doesn’t see the things you’re insecure about. When he realises how upset or anxious you really are, he feels bad for not taking you seriously and sits down with you, hands intertwined with yours as he apologises and hears out every single one of the thoughts in your head. Whilst he knows he could say a million words to remind you how highly he thinks of you, he knows that his words and actions can only go so far and that you need to be able to see yourself in a confident light first and foremost. He absolutely does tell you all those things he loves about you and probably shares some of his own insecurities to show you how he truly empathises with you, but also wants to take action on your feelings. Whether it’s through artistic means to express emotions, reading up self-help books on how to improve your confidence, or just helping you to list everything that is right with you, he wants to use practical means to overcome the root of the problem. 

Jeno

Another confused puppy at first – when he sees the sadness in your eyes and the downturn of your lips as you confess your feelings of insecurity, he can’t understand why on earth you’d feel so upset about yourself when all he sees in you is perfection. Taking you into his arms, he’d hold you together, allowing you to let out all the emotions inside of you and comfort you as they spill over. Once you had let everything out, he would readily remind you of how no one is perfect and that you should be your number one fan since you are the only person who lives with you for your entire life. In the short term, he would want to make you feel safe and secure, treating you to your favourite self-care activity and holding you as close to him as possible because he can’t let you feel like you’re going through anything alone. In the long term, he would try and remind you of the things he loves about you more often, hoping that his love can help you see yourself in a better light.

Haechan

Donghyuck is not letting you feel insecure, ever. As soon as you even hint that you aren’t exactly loving everything about yourself, he makes it his personal mission to tell you how much he loves everything about you, especially those things you are insecure about. Sometimes he’s entirely serious, so serious you’re almost concerned he’s been possessed by the spirit of some grave-though-sort-of endearing motivational speaker, and other times, he’s full of jokes and dramatic confessions of your perfection, complete with the signature pout and hands cupping your face so you can’t squirm away. He firmly believes that health and happiness come before anything else, and if there’s anything that’s making you feel insecure (like a job, bad friends, uni, etc.), then you need to prioritise taking care of yourself first and foremost. He’s not telling you to give up or quit by any means, no. Just reminding you that you are your number one priority, and anything or anyone that makes you feel any less good about yourself should not have that much power over how you see yourself. 

Jaemin

Good luck being insecure about yourself in a relationship with Jaemin; he would constantly be showering you with so much love and attention with those honey-dripping gazes and fervent smiles, no-end to the lovestruck compliments at anything you do, doting hands constantly stroking your hair, face, hands, arms, everywhere. His sweetness and sincere compliments would be delivered at exactly the right time, in exactly the right manner, that it halts whatever insecure thought was growing in your mind as soon as it began to sprout. Confessing to him that you were actually insecure in certain things would break his heart, as wanting you to feel nothing other than love would be his top priority. Patiently listens to you and strokes your hair with your head on his lap or his chest as you reveal your troubled thoughts, and then goes on to explain to you in several different and equally unique ways why those things that are troubling you are entirely false.  If you thought he was doting enough already, he turns it up 100% after hearing you feeling insecure, giving you even more compliments and showering you with even more love than you knew one human could produce. 

Chenle

Not on his watch! The moment you try and express your concerns about whatever you think isn’t good enough about you, he launches into a whole monologue about how he loves you and thinks you’re perfect and can’t imagine you as anything less than some kind of celestial being. When his small outburst is over, however, he listens to you intently and frowns every time you say something bad about yourself – stepping in only to argue against the unfavourable thoughts and feelings before you move on to the next. After breaking down everything that you’re feeling, he decides that rather than complimenting you more or something of that kind, he’s going to subtly show you how to love yourself. Whenever you do something demonstrating your virtues, he makes it a moment to show you your strengths, and after any and every success, he reminds you to take pride in yourself and what you can do. Chenle wants you to be able to be proud of and happy with yourself and will make sure to spare no effort in gently nudging you towards this goal.

Jisung 

Another one who would be absolutely heartbroken hearing of your insecurities. Although he understands it’s only human nature, he’d feel as though he hadn’t done enough to make you feel loved or wasn’t complimenting you enough if you still thought anything hurtful towards yourself. This would be his own insecurities creeping up on him, and you’d have to both sit down and talk through the painful emotions, no matter how tedious or upsetting it is. Makes it something to work on together. Rather than seeing it as his mission or your own internal struggle, it becomes a pact to help each other become more confident in yourselves and accept the things you can’t change. I think growing together would be a huge part of a relationship with Jisung, wanting to help make up for the areas you both lack in, and helping the areas you shine in glow even brighter. Being insecure wouldn’t be a shortfall; it would be an opportunity to evolve and allow yourselves to flourish with the right care and attention.

If you get too scared he’ll hold you closer, or if you’re terrified beyond belief, he’ll find an exit for you two to go outside and take a breather

He’s quick to grab water and provide cuddles. Lots of PDA, kisses, hugs, the works.

He just simply only cares about you, and wants to make sure you’re not panicking or crying so much your tear ducts dry.

He’s just an over all sweetheart when it comes to caring for you.

Let’s be honest, Paul would pretend to be more scared than you to make you feel better. But sometimes he’s not faking it, the scares are actually that good. Not like he’ll tell you that.

If things are too much he’ll find a corner away from everything. Standing guard whilst still glancing back to make sure you’re okay.

If you can’t finish it then he’ll bring you both to an exit, a little upset because he didn’t see the full haunted house, but his main concern is still you.

He’ll lead you to the food stands and buys you whatever you want, hot chocolate? Yup. Mini donuts or popcorn? Absolutely.

Paul’s a little protective over you throughout the rest of the night, which is usual for any vampire and their lover.

Dwayne

Big tough man is practically a meat shield for you. He’ll go first every time, checking each corner before leading you forward.

Though he can’t really control the scare actors behind you two. He tries but, guarding both ways is difficult.

If someone jumps out he’ll immediately hug you and turn away, shielding you from the horrors of the house.

When you’re overwhelmed he’s bring you to an exit and bring you to the games. Dwayne will try his hardest to win you something, and when he does he immediately offers to carry it.

He’ll reassure you all night and if you’re worried about being jump scared he’ll check each and every crevasse for you.

David

He’s the one that makes you push through a bit. But he still wants you to be safe, and not panicking.

So he lets you take breaks, tucking you into his chest, concealing you with his long coat and whispering praises. He’ll sway you both a bit sometimes, just to keep it different.

Let’s be honest, with David, you’d push through to the end. Unless of course you ask him to go out then he’ll nod and hide you in his jacket while you leave through the emergency exit.

David will sit in the smoking area for a bit before walking you around more of the attractions. Besides, not everyone has to go into a haunted house to have fun on Halloween.

He’ll whisper to you more praises about how far you got. And David will even buy you something warm to tame your nerves.

Like Dwayne and Paul, he’s equally protective. After all, no one scares his lover but him.

My journey through gender equality advocacy has been one of two starkly different halves.

When I tell people about my support of women, I do so to more or less exclusive approval and applause. The stories of standing up to cat callers and to confronting misogynists are warmly welcomed; my time spent homeless in London raising money for vulnerable women, a proud feather in my hat.

And whilst it’s not why I did these things, I can’t help but noticed how it’s made me socially, intellectually and dare I say it, sexually, more attractive.

Then I move onto part two. I’ll talk about boys failing in school, the unique criminalisation of gay men historically, the abysmal male life expectency, or the abused men shut out from refuges, and suddenly the situation changes.

The environment runs cold, smiles are wiped from faces, and nodding heads grow stiff.

Often outage and condemnation follows. To them I’ve fallen down some kind of rabbit hole. My views are problematic. Ignorant. And somehow misogynistic.

People, even my own family, will protest and leave the room. “King of the Incels!” or “Z List Jordan Peterson” I am called. I’m always left wondering why I am the subject of such colourful language, for simply making my views consistent and my compassion complete?

And so the transformation is complete. The face of compassion, warmth and approval, has become the face of ignorance, coldness and stupidity.

It is, in my eyes, the ugly side of equality.

The male side; of snails and puppy dog tails, of lazy and obtuse catchphrases and victim blaming mentality. Toxic this, and patriarchy that, and privilege sprinted on top. Yawn.

So how has your journey into the ugly side of equality played out?

And why do so many progressives forsake their own beliefs, compassion and virtue so quickly?

The activists don't care about this. They don't care about people. They care only about imposing their ideology onto everyone. You can tell from the girl who says "feminist spaces" should be used to talk about mental health. You're not allowed to talk about any real issue or problem without applying their corrupt, fraudulent ideological framework, in order to produce false, ideologically acceptable answers. Such as that suicide is caused by "the patriarchy" or "toxic masculinity." They'll literally attempt to stop you and call you a bigot if you try.

This is analogous to how believers will say that famine or disease are the result of "sin" or are "god's punishment," rather than non-fictional, actual real-world causes.

P.S. I absolutely detest how quasi-therapeutic language like "spaces" has leaked out into the everyday language of these ideologues.

So a ten year old Tim, wanting to keep his parents around for another few days so they actually celebrate his birthday, spikes their drinks with something with the intention of making them sick so they have to stay home for a couple days. Maybe a week max. It goes wrong, either because he picked an allergen that he didn't know his parents had or used too much or just straight up picked poison not realising it was poison idk, and his parents end up dead. So being only ten and frightened but still very smart, he trashes the house, makes it look like a burglary and kidnapping gone wrong and takes himself to Arkham.

Now, Tim has always held the belief that, because he's different autistic he's going to end up in Arkham eventually. Now he can't just check himself in, no no no that would ruin the implications that he's been kidnapped and is likely dead. No, this absolute menace sneaks in and just stays out of sight. He sees how the staff treats the inmates and how the inmates act when they're here and treated so badly so he starts to help as best he can. To counteract the terrible thing he did.

He starts hiding pieces of equipment and clothing from the staff. He steals their food for himself and switches it out woth the substandard food they were going to give the inmates. He messes with their lights. Anything to make their day a bit more annoying. And with the inmates? He leaves notes asking them about their favourite colours and promising that whoever was being awful to them will leave them alone for a while and asking why they do what they do and leaving water and snacks when they're sick.

Little things that he's capable of doing whilst still remaining out of sight.

So now everyone in Arkham thinks there's a ghost.

Yes he had to learn the hard way a few times that some inmates just can't be trusted and he should stay well away from them and some just tolerate him. And yes he knows about the vigilantes, he figured them out when he was nine and just kept it to himself. But because he's been so busy here taking care of his "friends" He never became Robin. He does still sneak out from time to time though. For more supplies and to stretch his legs and see the heroes he loves so much. He'll go to Jason's grave once a month and just sit there, sometimes leave behind a bottle of water because now that Tim is surviving on the bare minimum, he knows that's what would be appreciated more than flowers.

hey lily!!!!! thank u sm for sending me asks whilst i was away, it was a lovely thing to come back to 🫶

so here i'll drop some miscellaneous modern hcs for the fun of it (summer edition!!!!!!)

- every summer coral and mizzen go back to visit ireland for two and a bit weeks. they're from a small seaside town where everyone knows everyone and its so great to be able to see their family again.

- mizzen spends his entire time at the beach and there is a point where there is sand EVERYWHERE in their parents house and there's no way of cleaning it because there's just so much of it.

- coral buys a million pretty souvenirs for lucy gray because she can't pick which one that she'd like the most.

- coral and mizzen go surfboarding at one point and they fall over so many times. there's a video mizzen has on his phone of coral going total wipeout.

- the weather is pretty good but on the ONE DAY that they decide to go swimming/surfing it absolutely pours down to the point they can't tell what's rainwater and what's seawater.

- by the time they come back all of coral and mizzen's clothes are either soaked beyond belief or unchangeably sandy.

- when they come back they do a caravan holiday with tanner and treech (and later lamina and brandy).

- mizzen is great with the 2p machines and has a tactic he uses (brandy helps him later) that allows him to get a ridiculous amount of tickets (like 10,000 or something.)

- treech is terrible at claw machines but tries to win something for lamina every time and continues to do so even after he fails 10 times in a row and wastes all his money.

- lamina however is VERY good at the claw machines and wins treech like a million different plush sonics 💀.

- tanner and coral spend half their time at the bar because they think they're somehow above the festivities of caravan holidays. but then mini golf or hide and seek gets mentioned and they lock in.

- they watch some horrific reality tv show every night (probably love island) and scream at the tv when the contestants r being stupid.

- genie and dennis go on a road trip throughout the summer, both declining to go on extravagant luxury holidays with their families (genie because her father would be paying for it and dennis because his brother would be going.)

- they stop off at all sorts of places, they see art exhibitions and try a bunch of different food that they want. at one point diana and apollo join them but only for a few days.

- they go to parties at night and end up realising that half of the mentors are somehow also there??

- livia cardew is somehow not on a luxury holiday somewhere with her mother which makes them laugh (she leaves the next day for her first class flight and arachne comes with her.)

- persephone has a seaside holiday with clemmie!!!!

- they do a no devices holiday where they stay at the beach half the time and read books together.

- this could be interpreted as clem x pippa or just friendship but either way its adorable.

- panlo and sheaf spend the summer on panlo's parents farm. it's really relaxing to both of them since they rarely get any time off of their intense jobs.

- lucy gray spends her holiday in scotland with the covey, travelling and playing music. she buys lots for coral and jessup while she's there and somehow ups coral in how many gifts they got eachother.

mizzen & coral being irish!! mizzen is impossible to pull away from the beach and when you do not only does he bring back all the sand but also any little ‘treasure’ he can find. his mother also makes him turn out his pockets because he’s known to try to sneak in little creatures.

This ask is less of a question and more of a mini ramble/vent of my own, idk if you'll find this interesting, pls don't feel obliged to answer this, if not I'll be back with more interesting stuff sooner or later. (disclaimer: im unsure of what terminology to use when) I don't consider myself as a radfem or GC, but in my past month or so of consistent lurking i'd say i've adopted some of the perspectives and opinions, whilst still being supportive of trans ppl and wanting feminism to result in equality between the sexes (i personally believe that this equality and the liberation of women aren't mutually exclusive but that's a different can of worms, also not saying that radfems and GCs can't also be those things). So it kind of shocks me when I at times return to more trans positive/inclusive (?) spaces and see how they talk about TERFs or just radfems in general. I'm skipping the part about how I don't see their arguments in the same light anymore, and more focusing on how they talk about those groups (while most of the time seemingly not having properly looked into them). Like, I have my fair share of criticisms for those 2 communities as an outsider looking in, but they're a lot more constructive and not as "automatic, knee-jerk reaction"-ish than what I've seen from TRAs(?). Furthermore, although I don't think radfems and GCs are necessarily always the nicest to trans ppl or even other qu**r groups, I've seen them being willing to engage in civil debates, clarifying that they don't wish harm on the opposite side/expressing some sympathy to at least a part of the opposite side, denouncing the issues within their own communities, encouraging each other to participate in more "tangible" activism (ex: volunteering at women's shelters), etc more commonly and on a more regular basis than TRAs (?) (not sure what terminology to use lol sorry).

What's even more surprising is that I feel like I can have a civil conversation with most, if not all, of my trans friends without it absolutely obliterating our friendship and mutual respect for each other and even ending up agreeing on some things, so it's odd to see such hostility towards even just *engaging with an opposing belief* and *asking more direct questions* online. Maybe it's more prevalent there than irl? Anyway, if you read this entire thing, thanks and I hope you found it entertaining at the very least x) 'till next time! ~🪼

but also, I genuinely really enjoyed reading this! I totally agree with the sentiment. I did find it super interesting myself in my lurking journeys when the characterization of "terfs" was always built around word of mouth information, the worst faith interpretations of any radfem point, and constant reiteration of how they're irredeemable traditionalists who were completely not worth listening to and directly supporting hategroups (which. is pretty hyperbolic especially if you're addressing radblr lmao).

where as radfems always characterized "tras" directly with screenshots, literally listening to them and displaying them as they are. and yeah, even in radfem spaces where there can be varying disagreements, there is still some level of discussion or debate where you can trace back the discourse and see why they disagree. then, in contrast, when I lurk through broader lgbtq discourse,it's always full of calling people whatever-phobic and just never trying to understand the actual reasons behind any arguments. or it's people over-intellectualizing to the point of nonsense, then still turning around and straw-manning their opponent regardless.

and honestly, it probably is an online thing. the demographic of people online in these communities are just getting younger and everyone is getting more personal too. your identity and digital reputation are now "at stake" in the spaces you frequent, and all your friendships have become your "mutuals" who are an extension of your online personhood and credibility, so you MUST curate your space and your relationships to be unproblematic and aligned with popular opinion as to not be ostracized from these spaces and make yourself look bad.

In real life, people strive to care less what others think of them, and thus can entertain disagreement and nuance while not feeling threatened. online, people are quite literally incentivized to care what others think of them because what's the point of going online otherwise (yknow, if you disregard learning more about different perspectives and using the breadth of the world wide web to learn new things and deepen your understanding). ok, before I start ranting like a boomer comic strip on the "evils of social media" and how the youth are using the internet badly, I'll cut myself off :p

what about a drabble where the reader is all touchy with Felix and hyun gets jealous?

october 23rd, and it’s absolutely freezing. you’re all sat around the fireplace, music playing mellowly in the background as you stick another marshmallow onto a twig. “it’s a little cold, right?” you speak to no one in particular, yet get a singular response from felix. “give me one second,” he proposes before running inside. you shrug it off— opting for the belief that he just needs a toilet.

a hum plays upon your lips as you watch the marshmallow browning in the fire.

he returns in no time, giving you one of his navy blue hoodies to put on. the little act makes your heart flutter and realise how much of a good friend he is.

“aw, thank you, lix!” you smile widely after pulling the clothing over your head, throwing your arms around him once he had sits back down. “i just don’t want you getting sick, that’s all.” he pats your back.

everyone’s laughing and joking around, apart from one person; hyunjin. it’s a little strange since he’s usually the one making everyone else laugh, yet he sits there, opposite you and fiddling with his fingers. you eye him up, trying to read any sort of expression as you bite into your marshmallow.

“fuck, that’s hot.” you curse and quickly spit out the scolding food from your mouth. “god, y/n. are you okay? that must have hurt! be careful next time.” felix brings his thumb to your chin to wipe off the melted marshmallow that had consequently dripped down. “i know, my bad.” you giggle and take his thumb, playfully licking the food from it. “ew! you are gross,” he shoves you playfully and you almost fall off the log that you’re sat on. of course, that’s until his arms wrap around you, pulling you back but letting his arm linger on your back.

“can you guys fuck somewhere else?” hyunjin finally snaps, catching everyone’s attention whilst doing so. your smile drops, and so does your heart as you read the expression on his face.

“hyune—?” you question before felix chimes in.

“what’s your problem? you’ve been in a mood all night, liven up a bit.” he digs.

your eyes flicker back and forth as though you’re watching a tennis match.

hyunjin scoffs, “i’m not the one flirting like a fucking high-schooler.” he adds, and you’re quite taken aback by his sudden outburst.

the whole vibe is awkward— and you can not stand it anymore. so, you decide to take this elsewhere.

“can we talk?” you stand over him, one hand extended for him to take. his eyes look up at you, sad and empty, as you lead him inside the house. the warmth immediately hits you, but it doesn’t get rid of the strange feeling in your stomach.

“what’s that all about?” your hands rest on your hips as he fights back a smile at you. “do you like felix more than me?” he blurts out. your eyes travel from his face, to his veiny hands and arms, then back to his face. realisation hits you.

“what?” you scoff, “in what world would i have something for felix, he’s like my brother!“ you flail your arms in the air, completely flabbergasted by his sudden accusation.

“you guys seem pretty touchy. just let me know if there’s something there, and we can shut this whole ‘seeing each other’ thing off.” your heart breaks at his words. it’s the last thing you want. last thing you fucking need.

“hyune, i only have eyes for you.” you grip his face in your hands, planting a sweet but long kiss onto his plush lips. “having a thing for felix would basically be incest, i love you.”
