Gotham Characters' Reactions to the Reader Being Stressed Because They Have a Lot to Do Part 1
Reader: gender-neutral (without any pronouns) Warnings: mentions of illegal ways to get a good grade
Edward Nygma:
He's very intelligent, so if the subject is nothing too niche he will learn about it himself. You might think that he wouldn't find the time, but this man once rearranged an entire room of folders in his free time (much to Kristen's dismay), and he's ready to put in more effort for you. If you had to learn something, he'd love to quiz you by making small little riddles. .... "Almost. Do you need another hint? It ends with an e."...."Nope, silent e." If all your time was taken up by your task, he'd make you meals or give you some dessert you like. Prepare yourself for a note on it, he'll write a related riddle on it. If things get too far - that is, if you're too stressed, even if you mutter "I'm fine." - never leave your utensils lying around, because you will come back to find them gone, with him waiting for you, not giving them back before you answer the riddle, "You desperately need it to escape it becoming the verb that will happen to you if you don't take it, what is it?" You're too tired for this, "Please just tell me, Eddie." He puts his hands on your shoulders in a comforting way, and looks into your eyes, saying, "A break. You desperately need a break. You've been working for too long." Let's just say that he's good at hiding stuff.
Jim Gordon:
He's almost too good at giving you time and space. If you throw yourself into work, he'll do the same, and might end up having more work to do than you. However if your work overload was caused by someone, he'll have a word with them if possible. He'll give pretty much anyone hell, from the normal office worker to some rich guy from higher up. The only scenario in which he wouldn't call them out is if your boss was one of the big players...not that he wouldn't yell in Oswald's face.
Oswald Cobblepot:
Speaking of Oswald's pretty face, it would look very displeased if you of all people were being bothered with too much work. He didn't work his way up just to see that the people he cares about are unhappy, or in your case overworked. He offers to let someone else do your work or bribe someone to change your results, that's just what he thinks of as a solution: the person he loves wouldn't be stressed out, which is the only thing that matters. Regardless of your decision, you'll be showered in supportive hugs and/or gestures, as usual. Your smaller tasks will be taken care of, and if the root of your work problem is someone, they will be intimidated.

I haven't been able to take many pictures of my home office this year since things have been so busy, but I'm trying to get back into it 🤗

Wednesday August 16th
It’s super warm here today, so I am once again working at the library. I’m at a closer library to my apartment this morning so I can go home for lunch. I got an iced caramel toffee latte to keep me chilled as well.
I can’t believe it’s three weeks exactly until back to school. I am so excited to start, even though I have nothing prepared yet. I have to make a list of school supplies I need, plus get my apartment deep cleaned before school starts.
My summer job ends in a week and a half, so I am trying to get all the projects I am working on finished before I am done. I feel it’s attainable.

I started a new job this week and I will hopefully sharing some portions of some WIPs later. This is what I see to the left of me on my desk. I (un)surprisingly find this phrase highly motivating.
Whatever you say, Murder Daddy.
Also it’s my birthday tomorrow! 😍💋

Managing Workplace Stress and Avoiding Burnout
Workplace stress is a common problem faced by many employees, and if left unchecked, it can lead to burnout. Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress. It can negatively impact an individual's health, productivity, and quality of life. However, there are several effective ways to manage workplace stress and avoid burnout.
Firstly, it's important to identify the sources of stress at work. This could include long hours, excessive workload, poor communication with colleagues or supervisors, or a lack of job satisfaction. Once identified, it's essential to take steps to address these issues. This could involve delegating tasks, prioritizing responsibilities, improving communication, or seeking assistance from colleagues or supervisors.
Secondly, it's essential to prioritize self-care. This includes taking regular breaks, getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and engaging in regular exercise or physical activity. It's also important to set boundaries between work and personal life, such as avoiding checking emails outside of work hours or taking work home.
Thirdly, it's beneficial to develop coping mechanisms for dealing with stress. This could involve practicing relaxation techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or mindfulness. Seeking support from friends, family, or a professional therapist can also be beneficial.
Finally, it's essential to take time off work if necessary. Taking a vacation or personal days can provide an opportunity to recharge and reset, allowing for improved productivity and job satisfaction upon return.
In conclusion, managing workplace stress and avoiding burnout requires a proactive approach. By identifying sources of stress, prioritizing self-care, developing coping mechanisms, and taking time off when necessary, employees can achieve a healthier work-life balance and avoid burnout.

Part 2 Gotham Characters' Reactions to the Reader Being Stressed Because They Have a Lot to Do
Barbara Kean:
If you need any utensils, or an expert, she can get those for you. She'll also offer you to do your work in her appartement if you need a calmer place. Barbara's great at making sure that you have good breaks. She's a professional in directing your attention to relaxing things. Of course she also understands that you might prefer not to go out or spend too much free time, that comes from her having previously been with a police officer. She should know that you love her, but she might become a bit insecure if you ignore her, so there could be some angst. Once you tell her that you can't wait to spend more time with her afterwards, she'll cheer up again though. I can really imagine her throwing on some music and dancing wildly for a few minutes until you've got to go back to work. Oh, and she'd be absolute best at making your work itself fun. She loves expressing herself, and would happily do a quiz show if you had some things to learn, or cheer you on in general like a sports commentator. "And there y/n is, having just gotten through another portion of work, everyone cheer for this fabulous person!" If your (not learning-related) work gets too much, she might just hire someone to do it for you. If you had to learn things, she'd remind you of all the possibilities, "Absenteeism is a possibility, you know?" If you protested, she'd pout and say, "Well, at the rate you're going, your work might as well make you ill, so you better start relaxing, honey." She'd smile and give you a forehead kiss.
Harvey Bullock:
He's a pro at picking up on someone's stress. He knows his own tells and those of his colleagues very well, and also those of suspects, so there's no way that you can hide your stress from him, no matter how unconventional your signs of stress are. He tries to make you take breaks from the beginning on, "It's more sustainable, you know?", but if you don't take any, he'll just make sure that you're comfortable while working. If someone gave you that work knowing that it was too much, he'd talk to them if he knew them or make funny insults about them to cheer you up. Oh, and if it was multiple people that he knew personally, he wouldn't shy away from a whole speech about how you deserve better. If you were studying he'd have a look at the content and joke around so that you'd have things to connect with the content as well as a nice change in mood. He makes sure that you have plenty of good food during the whole thing. If there's no time for him bringing it to you or going eating together, he'd make you a list of the best places in your neighborhood. He's been to a lot of places because of his work, and he knows which ones are not only good but serve the food quickly.
Author's note:
I hope you succeed in whatever work you've got to do, or if you don't have any at the moment, that you know that these fictional people would be so supportive :)

Friday August 25th
Today was my last day of my summer job and I got everything finished up! It feels good to know I did what I set out to do.
Now I have a one week break until school starts, and two weeks until I start my fall/winter job starts. I am looking forward to both. I do feel though, that I will be looking forward to them even more after a little break.
Here’s some photos I took around my college last time I was there. I can’t believe I get to study here for the next four years!
