"do you like me?" "nope."
gojo satoru x reader summary: even yuuji realizes that gojo has a crush on you, but you're oblivious as ever w/c: 1.1k tags/warnings: ft. yuuji and megumi. fluff. super light angst. lots of banter. a lil mutual pining. yuuji and gojo being chaotic. gender neutral reader. a/n: not sure how this turned out, but it was fun to write! masterlist check out my latest work for gojo here
Tumblr media
"(l/n)-sensei!!"
you're trying to relax and really, fifteen minutes is all you want, but these days that seems impossible.
you turn your head toward the sparring field just in time to see yuuji fly into a tree about 30 yards away. megumi is already on the ground struggling to get up.
meanwhile gojo is prancing, literally prancing, in the opposite direction. you walk toward the group with a mixture of annoyance and disappointment playing across your features, all your hope for some peace and quiet crushed.
"that was awesome!" the pink haired boy shouts from amid a mess of leaves and branches.
gojo gushes over the praise, his hands pressing against his cheeks. "thank you, yuuji! it's nice to know someone around here appreciates my unmatched strength."
"i don't remember offering to be a part of the demonstration," megumi grumbles, finally rising to his feet.
his demeanor is less than pleased and you glance at him sympathetically before turning to gojo. "you do know that you're an adult, right? like, as in, a fully grown man."
"(y/n)-chaaaaan, you're always so mean to me," he whines, grabbing your hands dramatically. "what have i done to deserve such cruel treatment?"
"today or in general?" you pretend to think for a second. "i seem to remember you waking me up at seven this morning so that you didn't have to go to your meeting with masamichi-san alone-"
"he was mad at me for skipping the last one i had!"
"-and then you hid my phone for almost an hour because i wouldn't give you my last candy bar-"
"i was starving, (y/n)-chan! it wasn't my fault, you know that!"
"-and then you destroyed that tree, which i really happened to like by the way."
his gaze flickers toward that direction, the splintered wood a sad remnant of what it used to be, then throws his arms in the air. "this is so unfair!"
"(l/n)-sensei! did you see?" yuuji calls out, already fully recovered and bounding toward you.
"i sure did." you chuckle at his tattered clothes and unfazed attitude.
"what'd ya think?"
you really can't bring yourself to scold him, not with all the excitement in his voice. "oh, it was certainly something."
"did you hear that, gojo-sensei?" yuuji lights up.
megumi disguises his laugh with a cough. "i don't think that was a compliment."
the boy visibly deflates so you ruffle his hair. "it was pretty cool, i just don't want you getting hurt." that earns a grin, to your relief.
"so i get yelled at, but you're nice to him?" gojo pouts indignantly.
"yes."
"ugh! this is killing me, (y/n)-chan!" he announces before promptly knocking you to the ground, the action something between a hug and a tackle.
"gojo, get off of me!" you yell, though there's a hint of laughter in your voice.
"i can't! not until you forgive me!"
your giggles ring through the air, music to gojo's ears, and your hands push him away as he tries to tickle your sides. you look like two kids, rolling around in the grass and shouting at one another.
yuuji leans in toward megumi, his voice hushed as if he's about to reveal the world's biggest secret. "i'm starting to think there's something going on between those two."
his friend looks at him as if he's grown a second head. "you're just now noticing?"
~~~
you're making dinner in your apartment while gojo sits on the kitchen floor, his legs splayed out and taking up nearly half of the small room. his blindfold had been discarded at one point or another, something he made a habit of doing when it was just the two of you.
"what are we having tonight, chef?"
"me? i'm having braised chicken thighs. i'm not sure about you though," you tease.
you didn't invite him to dinner, he just kind of followed you back to your place after sparring practice. you don't really mind, you never do, not that you'd ever admit it out loud.
"you wouldn't give me your candy bar and now you won't have dinner with me either? today is the worst! is this still about the tree? i told you i was sorry-"
"geez i was just kidding!" you cut him off. "of course you can have some, but only if you get the flour off the top shelf for me."
"i guess that's a fair trade," he reasons, rising to his feet lazily.
the cabinet is just to your left, so his body presses into yours as he reaches up, the contact making your heart flutter.
"thanks," you exhale when he sets it down within your reach.
he doesn't return to his sitting position, just leans against the counter and watches you carefully stir the ingredients in the pan.
"do you like me?" he inquires suddenly.
"nope."
"hm, do you like like me?" he suggests, a small smirk playing at his lips.
"gojo, that's honestly defamatory."
he rolls his eyes playfully. "c'mon, be serious."
"you be serious," you challenge the usually facetious man.
"i am."
resting your spoon on the pan, you turn to face him, unsure if he's just messing with you like always. the room is silent, save for the faint popping of oil, as he waits for you to say something.
"why do you wanna know?"
"'cause i like you, why else?"
your hands gather the fabric of your apron nervously, crumpling it between your fingers while you avoid his gaze. his words strike you as entirely implausible. after all, he's gojo and you're, well, you.
"you... you shouldn't joke about stuff like that."
he laughs at you and it breaks your heart a little, but then you feel two lithe hands on either side of your face. "(y/n), look at me."
you do, albeit apprehensively, and his eyes bore into your own with an intensity you aren't familiar with. it makes your knees feel weak. a smile tugs at his lips before they capture your own, the movement slow and soft.
your fingers reach up to wrap around his wrist, an attempt to steady yourself against him, before one of his hands travels down to your hip and gives it a light squeeze.
you taste so sweet, feel so perfect in his hands, that gojo kicks himself for waiting so long to kiss you. his lips move to the corner of your mouth, across your cheek, then begin to work their way up your jaw. he hums against your skin, satisfied with the breathy noises he's pulling from your throat.
then, the smell of burning invades your senses and you pull away from each other with wide eyes, exclaiming in unison. "the food!"
Tumblr media
I'm still in the hospital. Which is very convenient. Note the sarcasm. I can't do much all day except go on my phone which got very boring after a bit.
But my friends visit me every now and then. Mostly Mav, Phoenix or my mate, Thomas, who moved with me to San Diego so that I wouldn't be fully alone. But he can't really visit as much because he's an accountant and his boss has made him work a lot of overtime.
Phoenix was currently visiting and telling me all about how Hangman was being a massive dick and him and Rooster nearly got in a fight about Rooster's dad.
"Yeah, he lunged for him! If the guys didn't hold him back Hangman would be waltzing about with the biggest black eye." It made my brows furrows and lift my lip in confusion.
"How did that make him so mad? Like me and Rooster always argue but he's never gotten that angry..." I was really confused, what the fuck did Hangman even say?
"I wasn't really listening to what they were saying, me and Bob were talking, not paying attention because we thought it was a normal argument they have." Wow... Maybe I should talk to Rooster, as if he's going to tell me though, he hates me. Phoenix checked the time on her watch.
"Right, I've gotta go... Training... I'll come back when I'm off duty?" I nod as I bid Phoenix goodbye.
----------------------------------------
I've been on my phone for 4 hours since Phoenix left. I'm now addicted to Candy Crush, Subway Surfers and Episode. I'm in the middle of playing Subway Surfers when I heard a knock at the door. It was Dr. Hunterson. She's always been lovely to me.
"Hi Y/N, there's someone here to see you?" She said it as a question, basically asking me if I wanted to see them or not.
"Send them in, anything to cure this boredom." I chuckle out, Dr. Hunterson laughed as she closed the door. A few seconds later, someone walks through the door. I looked up at them.
It was my mum.
"Y/N! Oh my god! I would've come sooner had someone told me earlier!" She set her bag down on the floor next to the chair she then sat in.
I sat in silence, not even looking up from my phone. I couldn't talk to her, let alone look at her. I continued with Subway Surfers.
"Y/N? Why are you ignoring me? We haven't spoken to each other in 7 months!" She laughed as she spoke. I slammed my phone down on the bed and finally turned to look at her, I glared at her.
"Why the fuck did you lie to me about dad? Why couldn't you have just told me the truth?!" You could practically taste the venom in my tone. I was fucking seething.
My mum didn't utter a word. He mouth opening and closing as if she was trying to say something.
"What? Can't speak?" I was absolutely pissing incensed. Why the fuck would she lie to me for so long?
"I... I... I don't know what you want me to say?" She had a guilty smile on her face.
"I want you to tell me why the absolute fuck you would lie to me saying dad just didn't want to be in my life anymore when he stopped visiting me?! And guess what is the funniest thing? Dad told me himself! Yeah! He told me." Mum had tears streaming down her face.
"When you want to act like an adult, I'll talk to you then..." She grabbed her bag off the floor and left the room.
"Fuck you!" I shouted as she closed the door. When I want to act like an adult. Tsk. Fuck her. I am a fucking adult.
I'm just going to have a bleeding nap, cannot be bothered staying awake right now...
----------------------------------
I was woken up to yet another knock at my door. When I sat up and said come in, I saw Bradshaw.
"Just the person I wanted to see." I say sarcastically as I turn to face away from the door.
"Y/C/S, I just wanna say I am really sorry... I must have accidentally pressed something... I did not mean to take it this far... You may not accept it but I just want to say that I am really really sorry..." I turned to look at him and his face was filled with remorse.
I didn't like this look on Bradshaw. I wasn't used to it. At all. I'm a lot more comfortable with him having anger on his face while looking at me. He seems really guilty... Maybe I should forgive him, I mean... He does seem to actually regret it.
"It's okay Bradshaw... I've made that mistake before... Except... I actually killed the girl..." Bradshaw looked up at me with shock on his face.
"W-what?" He sat down in the chair next to the hospital bed, leaning forward.
"I may as well tell you... Me and this girl, Sox, we were doing a training exercise, but with actual missiles, trying to shoot a target..." I began to tear up. "As soon as I shot the missile at the target, Sox got in the way... Luckily I only shot the wing, but when she pressed the button to eject her seat..." Tears were streaming down my cheeks, I was trying to hold in sobs. "It didn't eject, so all she could do was wait till her jet crashed and hoped she would live. She didn't."
Bradshaw sat there, in shock, mouth agape. His face changed to a sympathetic expression.
"We were best friends, she was the first friend I made after moving here, to San Diego... Her family somehow forgave me, I can't even forgive myself. They said that it wasn't my fault. It was. I'm the reason she's dead. If I hadn't shot that missile, maybe she'd be here at Top Gun, and not me." I was borderline sobbing at this point. My body was shaking. My breath uneven. Eyes dead set on the plant pot in the corner of the room.
"Y/C/S, it is not your fault, you didn't know she was going to fly in front of the missile. You had no intention of hurting her. Don't blame yourself..." I immediately began to shake my head, disagreeing with him.
"No. No. It is my fault Bradshaw. I shot the missile. I am at fault. I killed her... If it wasn't for me, she would be alive. And I'm going to have to live with that. Until the day I die." I couldn't stop the crying now, even if I wanted to. I haven't talked about it since it happened. Not even to my therapist.
"Y/C/S, it's okay... I promise you, it wasn't your fault. From what you've told me it was a training exercise gone wrong... You are not at fault for anything…” His words were filled with reassurance, and coming from him, it actually meant something. Although it didn’t totally get the idea that it was my fault out my head, it put my mind at ease.
I gave Bradshaw a tight lipped smile as my eyes darted between his gaze and my bruised hands.
"About this... rivalry, that we have... Can we just call it quits?" Bradshaw finally spoke up after a while of silence. I looked at him with a smirk.
"What? Finally realised that I'm the best and you're second place?" Bradshaw laughed as he shook his head. He looked back up and has a smiled with his eyes.
"Absolutely not... I am never going to accept that sweetheart..." The nickname made my eyes widen. Sweetheart? He's called me that before but never in the tone he just used. It sounded almost, flirty? I don't know, could be nothing. That is Bradshaw's personality after all.
"Guess it's just really tiring, and..." I gesture to all my cuts and bruises on my body with a laugh. "This... but don't worry Bradshaw... won't hold it against you." I chuckle as Bradshaw leans back in his chair and does the same.
"Truce?" Bradshaw stuck his hand out. I took his hand and shook it with a tight smile. I wish it didn't take me almost dying for us to stop this. Maybe it was the only way? I'll never know.
Season 6B promo dropped and immediately reignited the most insane brainrot I've ever had so here's a couple hundred words of spec fic
Christopher hates hospitals. Always has. At this point, probably always will. Nothing good ever happens in them, at least, not to him. Somewhere on another floor, down the halls, pregnant ladies are giving birth, holding their babies in their arms, smiling down at them after all those long months of waiting. Husbands and wives and fathers and mothers and siblings are waking up, seeing their loved ones for the first time in days, weeks, months.
Hospitals are nice for them.
He wonders, sometimes, if it's hospitals that are cursed or just his family—if something bizarre and uncanny happens to them whenever they walk through the doors that makes it unlikely they'll ever come out. Christopher knows that's not logical, that curses and jinxes are all just make believe, but when he ends up on the wrong side of those doors so often, he can't help but wonder what he did to get on the universe's bad side. He's twelve for pete's sake, he hasn't even discovered weird stuff on the internet yet.
Hen sits down next to him, her knees creaking just like his dad's. She takes the empty paper cup from his hands, hot chocolate still clinging to the edges, and throws her arm around his shoulders.
"Hey kid."
"Hey."
"How are you holding up?"
Not great, but when is he ever great when something like this happens? Bad things happen in threes, that's what they say. First time, it was his dad kneeling down to tell him about his mom. Second time, it was Buck sitting on his bed to tell him about his dad. This time, it was Bobby pulling up in the truck in front of his school to tell him both Buck and Dad got hurt. That's three, isn't it? Three times his parents have gotten hurt. Three times he's had to prepare himself to say goodbye.
They're cursed. Definitely cursed.
He shrugs. "I'm fine."
Hen nods slowly, lips pursing like she doesn't believe him but doesn't know if she should press him about it. He hopes she doesn't. He's scared and angry, and he gets mean when he's feeling scared sometimes. He doesn't want to be mean to Hen, he just wants to sleep.
"You know they're going to be okay, right?"
Her voice is gentle, warm. It's her Mom Voice. He hears her use it on Denny sometimes and he always has to leave the room because it makes him think about his own mom. He definitely doesn't want to hear it right now, but he gets tired of adults tiptoeing around him all the time, treating him like he's a kid who doesn't know what it means to come this close to losing everything.
His voice is flat, monotone and bitter. "Dad's unconscious and Buck's in a coma."
"Yeah. I know. But their bodies just need to recuperate after what happened." Hen squeezes his hand, waits until he meets her eyes. "They're going to be okay."
Christopher shrugs, withdrawing his hand from her grip.
Hen doesn't reach for it again.
She sighs and gets up. Wanders over to where Chimney and Bobby are sitting, the three of them speaking in low tones as they shoot anxious glances at him and the doors his dad and Buck were whisked through. Someone has to come out eventually, either to tell him Dad's awake and asking for him or to tell him they're both dead, nothing they could do, with that clinically sad look on their faces that doctors always have. Nothing to do but wait and see which way the house of cards is going to fall.
Christopher takes a deep breath, draws his phone from his pocket, and pulls up Candy Crush. He hasn't played it since his dad got shot, his high score still immortalized from the last time he sat in these chairs. If nothing else, he has practice with this part — the waiting, the held-breath tension, the bite of the hospital armrests against his forearms, so he clicks on the next level, watches the candy drop onto the board, and sinks into the game, breath getting stuck in his throat every time those doors open.
He really does hate hospitals.
Hello! If it’s alright, could I request something with the reader going Halloween costume shopping with Eddie (and maybe the rest of the gang)? There’s so many Spirit Halloween and Halloween Express stores around where I live and I just have a feeling that Eddie would have the time of his life in them and need to be reigned in haha
thank you google for telling me that spirit halloween was indeed founded in the 1980s thus making this little fic possible. here's eddie in a costume shop but its also friends to lovers, hope you like !! <3 | 1.3k, fem!reader, fluff, friends to lovers
The store takes up the biggest part of the strip mall about 40 minutes away from Hawkins. As soon as Eddie parks the van in the near-empty lot, the kids who aren't really kids anymore spring out and jog to the doors. The "Spirit Halloween" banner is faded and haphazardly strung up over the walkway and you raise your eyebrows in a silent question at Eddie across the gear shift.
"Don't look at me like that!" he says, smirking. "Buckley said they'd find good shit here for cheap."
"And this was worth almost an hour of driving?" Your complaint has no bite as you hop out of the van and walk for the store, Eddie's lazy, loping gate just behind you.
"We can't have them show up to their first high school party without good costumes," he scolds you, hand ghosting over your back at the threshold. The kids are going to a real party this year, though they don't know that you know. You got it out of Lucas last week when he begged Eddie to drive them here. You both told Steve, who said he's gonna drive by every hour, even as the rest of the 'big kids' have fun at another party, you and Eddie included.
Eddie, your friend, maybe even your best friend. This week you wanted to see if you could be more, if the fluttering in your stomach was worth risking what you already have. You've been trying to muster the courage to ask him to go in a couples costume this year but you've chickened out and here you are, a week before Halloween, and you're sure you've missed your chance. Instead, you'll help him pick out something he'll look ridiculously hot in and he'll make out with some college girl at the party.
But one thing at a time. You can see the kids weaving between the aisles as you look around, taking it all in. You thought that the store would be fairly picked over since it's close to Halloween but it seems just as full as if it was October 1st. Skeletons hang from the drab ceiling and the lighting is a little too low and it smells like dust, but you get a cart and slowly make your way into the maze.
"I'm gonna go dig," Eddie says, brushing his hand over your shoulder and squeezing before he darts off into the adult costume aisles. You meander through bins of decorations and wigs, capes and plastic masks. A song you kind of recognize plays lowly over the speakers and you hum along, tossing a few bags of candy into the cart and a stuffed pumpkin that Robin will like.
And you think about Eddie. How funny he is, how he's intense in one moment but vulnerable the next. How much he loves the kids and the way they're running Hellfire now and his friends and how he just wants people to like him. How nice he is to you, how easily he took to your jokes and your moods, how he answers your late night phone calls when you can't sleep and picks you up whenever you ask him to.
The crush you're nursing is newish -- you liked him when you first saw him, sure, and your stomach swooped when he spoke to you, but it's only this fall that you find yourself looking at his lips and wondering how soft they are. Wondering what it would be like to have his arm slung around your shoulders in more than a friendly way, to be able to call him your boyfriend. If all the afternoons you spend at his trailer, all the movies you see, all the drives he takes you on could be dates instead.
The boy in question skids out of the aisle right in front of you and you have to jerk the cart back to keep from plowing into him.
"Eddie," you frown. "I could have hit you!"
He's grinning, hands high in the air to show you what he's found. "It would be worth it for these sick costumes I found for us." You told him to find you something easy and something about his excitement tells you this is anything but. The bags say "Frankenstein" and..."Bride of Frankenstein." There are wigs visible through the plastic, a black one shot through with white in the bag that's for you. "I'm not going to wear a wig, obviously, but maybe we can temporarily dye a white streak so we match." He keeps talking about painting his face green when you interrupt him.
"But Eddie," you say, genuinely confused, "this is a couples costume." He deflates only a little at your surprise, but takes a deep breath and lowers his arms, pulling his face into one of his more neutral expressions.
"Yeah, and?" he says, shifting from foot to food.
You fight the urge to put your face in your hands because you feel like you're losing control of the situation. "Did I miss something? Are we a couple?" Your voice cracks on the last word and maybe that's what causes Eddie to soften.
"I guess not," he says. "But that's an easy fix." His face is pink as he takes a step forward, his stomach pressing into the edge of the cart as he looks at you. "Do you want to be a couple?" he asks. You suck in a breath at how earnest he sounds. "Do you want to go out with me?"
"Really?" you say softly. This is moving far too quickly, your head spinning at the realization that Eddie has stolen your plan.
"Don't sound so surprised!" he scoffs. "Do you want me to...hold your hand and ask? Will you believe me then? I can do that, hold on--" He tosses the costume bags into your cart and wiggles around it to stand next to you, gently grabbing your hands in his as he faces you. All of a sudden he seems a little nervous close up, eyes wide as he swallows so hard you see his adam's apple bob.
"Will you go out with me?" he asks, voice low. "And be the...Mrs. Frankenstein to my Frankenstein?" His grin is crooked, his dimple deep and nose scrunched at his bad joke.
"Okay," you say. You try really hard not to look at his lips. You're going to kiss him, but not in the middle of Spirit Halloween. "Yeah, I'd love to, Eddie." His smile is blinding as he whoops and pulls you in for a hug. Being in his arms is familiar and you hook your chin over his shoulder. "Frankenstein is the doctor, not the monster, you know," you tell him. His curls tickle your nose.
Eddie pulls back so you can see his eye roll. "I know that," he says, tugging gently on a piece of your hair. He drums his fingers on the cart handle. "Do you wanna go on a date after this?"
This boy keeps surprising you. "Tonight? Eddie, I'm not really dressed for a first date." You're in regular clothes, and for him you'd like to at least put in some effort, maybe put on that skirt you're pretty sure makes him a little flustered.
But he has other ideas. "Nah," he says, eyes trailing up and down your figure. "You look great as always." The blush on he cheeks deepens even though he's the one complimenting you. It's obvious now that he's liked you this whole time, too.
"Alright," you tell him. "Let's go on a date."
"And we're wearing these costumes for Halloween, right?" He points at the bags in the cart. You nod and he grins again. "Henderson!" Eddie calls into the store. Dustin pops out of an aisle holding a plastic Batman mask. "Come push this cart and round everyone up." Dustin groans but obeys.
Eddie tugs you back so the younger boy can take over and start yelling for his friends. Then he grabs your hand, lacing your fingers together and squeezing it. You're a couple now, you think. Eddie looks at you and winks, mouth open to say something when he's cut off by a loud curse.
"Why are you holding hands?" Mike cries.
pt 2/4: little changes (gun park x reader)
...except the main character is goo and reader only plays a role in little dialogue. hear me out.
(pt 1)
details: fluffy oneshot, gender neutral reader written in 2nd pov, general canon au, you and gun have been dating for a while in secret
summary: goo starts to notice little changes in gun, influenced by you. the thing is, gun is keeping his relationship on the low, so here are goo's antics of being annoying and trying to find out who you are.
warning: one part of these moments has implications of gun and reader in bed!
a/n: i dont rmbr how i got this information but at the time i wrote this, i heard gun couldn't drive so... yeah lol
(ironically i forgot gun's first appearance is him literally driving crystal around. but tbh, just bc i think its funny, i wanna keep it a headcanon that he can't drive LMAO)
×
"Make sure you don't text and drive."
"Hah, how old do you think I am?"
"Just saying! You text often on your travels so I wanna make sure."
"Don't worry, I always make my coworker drive."
. . .
The red stop light finally gave Goo a chance to snap his neck towards the passenger seat where Gun sat.
"Must be so nice to just sit there, huh?"
"Eyes on the road," Gun replied flatly, his gaze still glued to his phone. Nearly the entire ride he had his eyes on it. And it looked like he was texting.
Suddenly curious, Goo acknowledged Gun's comment with, "We're at a stoplight, dumbass," and then asked, "Who's so important you can't stop texting them?"
"Why is that the assumption?"
Goo scrunched a brow, lips twisting into a frown. "What does that mean?"
"I could be typing notes in my phone."
"Stop bullshitting, you and I never take notes."
For a second Gun looked like he was going to admit Goo was right, but then he just looked up and said, "The light's green again."
Goo looked back in front of him, only to see a red light. He deadpanned and turned back to Gun, staring down at his phone.
"Seriously, who're you texting? I've driven your ass around for twenty minutes and you've done nothing but stare and text on your phone."
"That's none of your business. How close are we to our destination?"
Goo tsked and sucked in a breath of sharp air, bringing his eyes to the road. "Almost there."
"Alright."
There was a pause as the light actually turned green this time and Goo pushed down on the pedal, pushing the driving limit like he always did. He decided to keep bothering Gun in the meanwhile.
"I know you're not texting the boss, he'd rather call you, and he only talks to us for business reasons. I'd guess it's also probably not Crystal since your conversations with her are always short and to the point. And you don't have any friends. Just who are you texting?" He kept on rambling his thoughts out loud, while Gun sat silently.
When Goo eventually gave up, he suggested Gun drive sometimes so he could just be on his phone for twenty minutes.
"I got Candy Crush levels to beat, ya know."
"You won't be alive to beat them if you allow me to drive."
Memories of a burning car with him and Gun standing in front of them flashed in Goo's mind three times--a different car each time--and he nodded.
"I don't know how you can fight a seven nation army but can't drive a car."
"That's a mystery to me, too."
Goo wanted to facepalm.
~
"That selection of jewelry looks so nice."
"You know you can buy it, right? My card is yours."
"No, Gun, we are not doing this again. Last time you let me use your card you ended up nearly buying the entire store for me."
"Hmph."
. . .
"Rubies, eh?" Goo held up the necklace he picked up, embedded with emeralds. He glanced back and forth between it and the ruby necklace Gun was holding. "You buying a necklace?"
"No, I don't like jewelry."
"The hell are you doing here then?"
"I'm buying a gift."
Goo snorted. "Very funny, now tell me the truth."
Gun stared through his sunglasses, not a single muscle moving on his face.
"Oh?" Goo leaned in, staring more closely at Gun's face like there was some hidden movement of an expression change or something. "Who's it for, huh? I didn't think you'd be the type to buy jewelry for someone."
"I'm buying it for someone special to me," Gun answered surprisingly honestly, leaving Goo flabbergasted for a moment.
"Uh." He leaned back to compose himself, adjusting his glasses. "First off, that's so cringe. Secondly, you actually have a friend?" Or maybe a lover or crush? Usually that's what someone special meant. Still seemed unbelievable, but just in case, Goo added in, "...Or something?"
Gun made a slight smirk. "I'm not incapable of creating bonds."
Goo shivered. "Ew, why do you always talk like an alien? Just say you made a friend." He followed Gun as the latter turned away to look at bracelets. "Who'd you become friends with? Some new successor you're trying to impress through jewelry?"
"When have I ever done that? Of course not."
"Then who?"
"Does my personal life matter to you?"
Goo swatted at his shoulder. "I could care less, but you've got me curious now. Who's this 'special someone' to you?"
"Stay curious," simply said Gun, picking up bracelets with his free hand and comparing them to the necklace in his other hand.
"Ugh."
Fine, Goo didn't care. It was probably some one night stand Gun just really liked the work of and wanted to keep around.
Actually... Gun had never said anyone was special to him before. It was cringey to hear him say that before like Goo stated, but now curiosity grew in him. What could it mean...?
~
"Oh, shit! I just remembered your meeting!"
"Damn, I lost track of time."
"It's fine, we both did, now hurry!"
. . .
Mr. Choi strummed his fingers across the table, not hiding his annoyance. "Gun, late again?" he questioned, Goo snickering.
Gun bowed his head slightly. "You called in a sudden meeting. I apologize for not being prepared, sir."
Goo was sitting leaned back in his chair, feet kicked up on the table. "Why do you look like a mess?"
Gun straightened up, finishing buttoning his shirt up and running a hand through his hair. His tone was much more sharper when replying to Goo. "I just said I apologize for being unprepared."
"So? It's late at night, what were you doing? Lounging around and being messy?" joked Goo.
Mr. Choi narrowed his eyes. "Or did you just come back from 'messing around?'"
Goo's jaw dropped when Gun's head slightly lowered once more.
"You youngsters..." Mr. Choi pinched the bridge of his nose.
"No fucking way!" Goo immediately started cackling as he leaned back, nearly falling from his chair. He moved to sit properly while giggling in between. "Sorry we interrupted your little fun~"
Gun ignored him and just mumbled an apology when Mr. Choi lectured him with, "I know you're an adult with the freedom to do as you wish, but don't be so careless by losing track of time."
The meeting began right after that, and Goo listened, of course. But he couldn't help but be mildly distracted by thoughts about the person Gun was "messing around with." Did they really do him so good he would lose track of time? Or did this person matter more to him than this meeting so he stayed back a little?
Probably the first, and it was also funnier if it was true. If the second was true though, that'd be interesting. Still kind of funny, though... Goo felt like he could never imagine Gun getting emotionally invested in anyone.
~
"Have fun at the party!"
"Ugh, I don't even want to go... promise me you'll still be here if I come back early. Which I probably will."
"Pft, sure."
. . .
Goo had a little too much to drink during this party. But he was having fun so who cares?
While chatting up some people, he saw Gun walking away to the exit of the room and ran after him, leaving the people he was talking to confused. He wrapped an arm around Gun's shoulder once he caught up, slurring, "Where're you going, huuuh~?" Gun shrugged him off but Goo just moved to hug his arm instead. "The party just began!"
"Ugh." Gun pulled his arm out of Goo's grasp. "I don't like parties like these."
"But you never leave this early! Come on, there's more to drink and eat!"
Gun sighed and looked around until he spotted a certain someone. "Crystal!"
"Hm?" She looked over at him, pausing from grabbing snacks at the tables.
"Keep this guy busy."
"What?" Gun was already sprinting away. Crystal started shouting, "Gun! GUN!! YOU ASSHOLE!!"
"Where's he going?" Goo wailed, heading to Crystal to lean onto her. "It's like he's sneaking away to see someone!"
Crystal shoved Goo away (or attempted to, because he kept falling on her like he didn't have a skeleton), saying something under her breath as she shook her head.
Goo didn't hear, and even if he did, he probably wouldn't remember tomorrow morning anyways.
You couldn’t contain your excitement when Saturday rolls around. You’ve been giddy all week, desperately waiting to go to the football game with Yeonjun. You jump out of bed and head straight to your closet, eager to pick out the perfect outfit for the occasion. You start with a pair of light-wash high-waisted jeans, which hug your curves perfectly. You pair them with a cute cropped tank top in a pastel shade of pink, which has a delicate lace trim around the neckline. To complete the look, you slip on a pair of chunky white sneakers and accessorise with a delicate gold necklace and some oversized hoop earrings. You take a quick glance in the mirror and grin - you look cute and stylish, exactly the kind of look you were going for.
As you skip down the stairs, humming a happy tune, your mother looks up from her newspaper and raises an eyebrow. "What's got you in such a good mood this morning?" she asks, a slight smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
You grin widely, practically bouncing with excitement. "It's game day, Mum!" you exclaim, practically bursting with anticipation. "I'm going to see Yeonjun play in the football match today!"
Your mother chuckles softly at your enthusiasm, shaking her head in amusement. "Well, I hope he plays well for you," she says, returning to her paper with a smile. “But be careful okay? I don’t want to see your heart again.”
You stop humming and look at your mother, surprised at her sudden caution. "What do you mean?" you ask, slightly confused.
"Well, I just don't want to see you get hurt again," she says, her tone gentle. "I know how much you liked Dongsik, and when that ended, it was hard on you. I just want you to be careful when it comes to boys."
You nod, understanding where she's coming from. "Don't worry, Mum," you reassure her. “Yeonjun and I are just friends for now.” You can't help but wonder why everyone seems to be bringing up Dongsik lately. First, it was Mrs Kim teasing you and Soobin at the café, then Soobin asking if you'll get back together with him, and now your mom reminding you to be careful around Yeonjun because of what happened with Dongsik. You let out a sigh and shake your head, trying to push those thoughts aside. You know that what happened with Dongsik was just a part of the story and that it was all pre-determined by the writer. But still, you can't help but feel a little annoyed that everyone keeps bringing it up.
Your thoughts are interrupted by the sudden pinging of your phone. It’s Beomgyu.
“We’re outside, come quick.” He groans, “And get some snacks okay?” Before you could say another word, Beomgyu hangs up. You chuckle to yourself, it was quite typical for Beomgyu to act like this on a Saturday morning.
“Mum, I’m leaving,” You announce, grabbing your bag and heading out the door.
“Okay! Have fun honey.” She shouts back as you exit.
You walk out of your house and see a bright red convertible parked in front of your driveway. It's Cat's car, and you recognize it immediately. Beomgyu is sitting on the passenger seat, scrolling through his phone. You walk over to the car, and Beomgyu looks up and greets you with a lazy smile, “Did you get snacks?” You throw a candy bar at him through the window.
As you step into the car, you're greeted with the sound of Cat's upbeat playlist and the smell of their fruity perfume. Beomgyu grins at you through the rearview mirror. "So, are you ready to see your football prince today?"
You roll your eyes, but you can feel your cheeks starting to flush. "Shut up, Beomgyu. It's not like that."
"Oh, come on, Y/N. We all know you have a crush on him. It's so obvious."
You groan and slump down in your seat. "Can we just go to the game, please?"
Cat chuckles, pulling out of your driveway, "Don't worry, we'll get you to your man in no time." You can feel your face getting even hotter as you look out the window, but a small smile tugs at the corners of your lips. You can’t lie, you are quite excited to see Yeonjun play and the fact he invited you himself just adds to it.
Tumblr media
As the car pulls up to the football field, you can hear the sounds of the crowd and the excitement in the air. The sun is setting, casting a warm glow over the field. You can see Yeonjun and the rest of the team warming up on the field, their jerseys glistening under the stadium lights. You can hear the excitement in the air as everyone cheers and screams in support of their team. The smell of freshly cut grass and concession stand food fills your nose as you make your way to your seats.
As you make your way towards the pitch, you notice Taehyun waving at you from the field. You smile and wave back, making your way over to him.
"Hey Y/N," Taehyun greets you with a smile.
“Hi Taehyun,” you reply, returning the smile. “Are you ready for the game?”
"I have a feeling we're going to win today." He laughs, taking a sip from his water.
"Really? Against this super tough team?" you say sceptically.
"Don't worry about it," Taehyun reassures you with a grin. "Yeonjun's got this. He's the main character, remember?"
You roll your eyes playfully. "Yeah, yeah, I know. But even main characters can't win all the time."
Taehyun shrugged, "Hey, I'm just saying. In the manhwa, Yeonjun always comes out on top."
You laughed, "Well, I hope you're right. I don't want to be on the losing team."
"Don't worry, we've got this," Taehyun reassured you with a grin. "Plus, we have some secret weapons up our sleeves."
"Secret weapons?" you questioned, intrigued.
Taehyun smirked, "Yeah, but I can't give away all our secrets. You'll just have to wait and see."
you suddenly feel a pair of arms wrap around you tightly from behind. "Y/N! You made it!" Yuqi, one of the cheerleaders, exclaims happily. You turn around and smile, returning her hug. "Of course, I wouldn't miss it for anything," you reply.
Yuqi seems surprised to see you with Taehyun, "Oh, I didn't know you two knew each other," she says, looking between you and Taehyun. You nod, "Yeah, we're friends."
Yuqi's eyes light up, "That's great! Maybe you could come cheer with us sometime," she suggests, excitedly.
You chuckle, "I don't think I have the coordination for that, but I'll definitely come watch and cheer from the sidelines."
Yuqi grins, "That works too! Let's hope our team wins today, it's going to be a tough match," she says, her cheerleader spirit shining through.
The piercing sound of the whistle echoes through the field, indicating the match is about the begin. You quickly say your goodbyes and good lucks to Yuqi and Taehyun, making your way off the pitch.
You turn to leave for your seat, but suddenly feel a hand on your wrist. You turn around to see Yeonjun holding onto you with a playful grin on his face.
"Hey, Y/N, are you really going to leave without saying hi to me?" he says, still holding onto your wrist.
You felt a slight blush creep up on your cheeks, “Shouldn’t you be on the pitch Yeonjun?” You retort.
He leans in closer to you, his breath hot on your cheek, still holding onto your wrist, “How am I supposed to play if you don’t wish me luck?”
You turn to see his deep brown eyes, your face dangerously close to his, “Good luck Yeonjun.”
He smiles satisfactorily, letting go of your wrist before running down to the pitch. You feel your heartbeat even faster, in disbelief that something like this even happened. You’ve been dreaming of this for ages.
As you make your way to your seat, you can already feel the knowing gaze of your friends.
"Ooh, Y/N, Yeonjun was totally flirting with you!" Kai giggles, nudging your arm.
Yunjin chimes in, "Just friends my ass."
You roll your eyes at their teasing, but can't help the small smile that creeps onto your face. "Shut up, guys," you playfully retort. "I was just wishing him good luck for the game." Yunjin and Kai stick their tongue out, refusing to believe you.
It doesn’t take long for the game to begin, with a final whistle indicating the game is about to begin. You can feel the excitement in the air, the cheers of the students deafening. The teams are lining up on the field, and you feel a sense of anticipation as you watch the coin toss. Your school wins the toss and chooses to kick off the game. You glance over at Taehyun, who catches your eye and gives you a reassuring smile. It seems like he's not worried at all.
The crowd is roaring, each school's supporters cheering for their team. You can see the sweat on the foreheads of the players on the pitch, their breaths heavy and laboured. It's a tense game, a nail-biter from the very start. The other school seems to be in control, their passes quick and calculated, their movement fluid. But your team is not one to be underestimated. Taehyun is playing defence, using his long legs to keep the opposing team at bay. Haechan and Mark are playing midfield, running up and down the field, creating openings for the forwards to score. You watch in awe as Yeonjun, the star of the team, dribbles the ball past two defenders, his feet moving with expert grace. He passes to Haechan, who makes a swift turn and sends the ball flying towards the goal. But the other team's goalkeeper is quick, diving to save the shot. The game continues, the ball flying back and forth across the field. The opposing team comes close to scoring several times, but your team's defence is impenetrable. Taehyun blocks shots left and right, his body moving like a well-oiled machine.
The familiar paralysing feeling of being on stage envelopes you, and in this moment you know that your school is going to win. It's a tense moment as Yeonjun steps up to take it. You can feel your heart pounding in your chest as he lines up his shot, his eyes locked on the goal. He takes a deep breath and kicks the ball with expert precision, sending it soaring through the air. It hits the back of the net with a satisfying thud. The crowd erupts in cheers, your team's supporters jumping up and down, hugging each other in excitement. The players on the pitch are screaming, hugging each other in joy.
You’ve won. Your school has finally won. Yeonjun made history today by winning against a school that has never been defeated before. Despite the game sort of being rigged (the writer obviously wanting Yeonjun to win) you can’t help but feel proud of the team.
“WOAH! Yeonjun was amazing!” Kai exclaims, clapping his hands loudly. Your friends nod in agreement, their faces adorned with wide smiles.
“Yeonjun is such a beast! Did you see that ball control? And the way he angled that shot? He's just too good,” Beomgyu exclaims, grinning ear to ear.
Yunjin and Kai nod in agreement, praising his technique and his ability to take on defenders. They were impressed with how Yeonjun always seemed to be in the right place at the right time, making the right moves and scoring the goals when it mattered the most.
“I mean, just look at the way he moves on the field. It's like he's a step ahead of everyone else,” Kai says.
You smile, happy that your school was able to finally beat the tough opponent. "Yeah, Yeonjun really came through for us."
Beomgyu looks at you teasingly, "And did you notice how he kept looking over at you during the game? You must have really brought him good luck."
“Guys please, you’re reading too much into it.”
Yunjin raises an eyebrow, "Are you sure about that? He seemed pretty smitten with you when he asked you to wish him luck before the game."
Beomgyu playfully nudges you, "Yeah, you never know. You could be the next football superstar's girlfriend." Your friends let out a loud ‘oooooh’, gaining the attention of some other students. Thankfully, Kai was there to rescue you.
Noticing the embarrassment on your face, he links your arm with his, “Let’s go congratulate Taehyun!” You nod quickly, making your way down to the pitch to find Taehyun. You spot him in a crowd surrounded by his teammates, all cheering and congratulating each other on the big win. As you approach him, he notices you and Hyuka and waves.
"Congratulations Taehyun, that was an amazing win!" you exclaim, giving him a big hug.
"Thanks, Y/N," Taehyun smiles. "It was a tough game, but we pulled through in the end."
Kai chimes in, "You were amazing out there! That last save you made was unreal!"
Taehyun looks a little bashful at the praise but still smiles. "Thanks, guys, I couldn't have done it without the team. And Yeonjun's winning goal was just incredible."
Taehyun chuckles modestly, "Thanks guys, but it wasn't just me. Yeonjun scored the winning goal, and Haechan and Mark played amazing defence. It was a team effort."
You nod in agreement, "Definitely. You guys really deserved this win.” From the corner of your eye, you spot Johnny Suh, the captain of the football team making his way towards you with open arms. You can't help but smile as he engulfs you in a warm, tight hug.
"Y/N!" he exclaims as he reaches you, pulling you into a big hug, wrapping his arms around you and lifting you off the ground, spinning you around. You can't help but laugh at his enthusiasm, feeling the air getting squeezed out of your lungs.
"Johnny, hey!" you say, patting him on the back. "Great game today, you guys really killed it out there."
Kai chuckles at the sight of Johnny smothering you in a hug. "Hey Johnny, congrats on the win man. Y'all played great out there," he says, giving Johnny a fist bump.
Johnny grins widely and ruffles Kai's hair. "Thanks, dude! It was a tough game, but we pulled through in the end," he says, still holding onto you. "Thank you for introducing me to Yeonjun," he says, his voice filled with gratitude. "He's been a game-changer for our team."
You laugh and shake your head. "I didn't do anything special, Johnny. Yeonjun is just a great player."
Johnny looks at you seriously. "No, Y/N, you don't understand. Before Yeonjun, our team was struggling. We didn't have anyone who could score like he can. He's really made a difference."
Taehyun nods along with Johnny's gratitude and adds his own thoughts. "Yeah, Yeonjun's really helped us a lot. He's a great player and his presence on the field really boosts the team's morale."
As you and Taehyun continue chatting with Johnny, you notice him looking over your shoulder. You turn to see Yeonjun walking towards you, hand in hand with Misun. Johnny grins widely and waves them over. His eyes meet Johnny's as he sees him holding you, and you can feel him looking at the two of you. There's a hint of jealousy in his gaze, but he tries to hide it with a smile.
"Yeonjun, come say hi!" Johnny calls out. Yeonjun flashes a smile at you as he approaches.
"Hey guys, congratulations on the win!" Yeonjun says as he gives Taehyun and Johnny a fist bump.
"Great job out there, man," Johnny says, clapping Yeonjun on the shoulder. "You really brought it home for us."
Yeonjun laughs, running a hand through his hair. "Thanks, Captain. I couldn't have done it without the rest of the team." Misun hides behind his tall frame, silently nodding to the conversation.
“Hi, Misun.” You giving her a soft smile, she looks up from her feet looking at you before muttering a small greeting. You can’t help but look in confusion at Yeonjun and Misun being hand in hand. The last you heard was that he didn’t even invite Misun and here they are together. You try not to get jealous but seeing her fingers interlaced with his brings up an ugly emotion in you. "You guys were all amazing out there," you say, turning your attention to the group. "I'm so proud of all of you."
“Hey guys, celebratory victory party at my house!” Haechan pokes his head into the group, shooting everyone his signature smile. Johnny lets out a loud cheer in agreement, eliciting the rest of the group to join in too.
Johnny turns to you and asks, "Do you need a ride to the party, Y/N?"
You consider his offer for a moment but then decline. "Thanks, Johnny, but I think I'll go with Beomgyu and Cat. They're waiting for me outside."
Johnny gives you a pouty expression, but then shrugs it off with a grin. "Alright, I'll see you there then. Have fun!"
You and Kai jog up to the parking lot where Beomgyu and Cat are already waiting for you. "Hey, sorry for the wait," Kai says as you approach them.
"No worries," Beomgyu says with a smile, “Home or the party?”
“Party definitely!” You exclaim, sliding into the backseat with Hyuka. The air is thick with excitement, and everyone is chatting animatedly about the game and the victory. As you cruise through the darkening streets, the car is filled with the soft glow of streetlights and the occasional burst of laughter. Beomgyu is sitting in the back, telling a funny story about his older brother, while Kai is scrolling through his phone, occasionally showing you all funny memes or videos.
Cat, who is driving, has the radio on low, and the soft hum of music adds to the easy atmosphere. You catch a glimpse of them in the rearview mirror, humming along to the music, tapping their fingers on the steering wheel.
As you pull up to Haechan's house, the sound of thumping music and raucous laughter hits you like a wave. The front lawn is littered with empty beer cans and red Solo cups, and you see a couple of people stumbling around drunkenly. The porch is crowded with partygoers chugging from plastic cups, and you spot Haechan's unmistakable grin as he greets people at the door. You step out of the car, the smell of alcohol and cigarette smoke hits you, making you feel a little lightheaded. Beomgyu and Cat are already whooping and hollering, ready to join in on the fun, while Kai seems a little hesitant.
As you make your way through the throngs of people, Haechan spots you and waves you over, holding out a red plastic cup filled with some unknown drink. You smile and accept it, knowing that Haechan always makes the best drinks at his parties.
"Y/N, my favourite party guest!" Haechan exclaims, giving you a tight hug.
You laugh and hug him back, feeling grateful for his friendship. "You know I wouldn't miss one of your parties for the world," you reply.
Haechan grins and leads you to the makeshift bar set up in the corner of the room. "I've got something special for you tonight," he says, reaching for a bottle of vodka.
You fall into the sofa watching as he expertly mixes you a drink, adding just the right amount of cranberry juice and lime. You take a sip and savour the taste, feeling the familiar burn of alcohol as it makes its way down your throat.
"Thanks, Haechan," you say, giving him a grateful smile.
"No problem," he replies, his eyes scanning the room for his next victim. Bingo, his eyes meet Yeonjun’s. Haechan grins mischievously as he calls over Yeonjun, who's just arrived at the party. "Yeonjunnie, my man! Come over here, I've got a special drink just for you."
Yeonjun looks slightly hesitant but makes his way over to Haechan and you, cautiously taking a sat next to you. Haechan reaches behind the counter and pulls out a bottle of clear liquid, which he expertly mixes with a few other ingredients.
"This is my secret recipe," Haechan says with a grin as he hands the drink to Yeonjun. "It's guaranteed to get you feeling good in no time."
Yeonjun takes the drink and sniffs it cautiously. "What's in it?" he asks.
Haechan just grins and shakes his head. "It's a secret," he says. "But trust me, it's good."
Yeonjun takes a sip and his eyes widen in surprise. "Wow," he says. "This is really good."
Haechan gives Yeonjun a pat on the back before turning to you. "So, how's the party so far?”
"It's a lot," you say with a laugh, taking a sip of your drink. "I wasn't expecting so many people to be here already."
"Yeah, I kind of went a little overboard with the invites," Haechan admits, shrugging his shoulders. "But it's all good, right?"
You nod, smiling at him. "Of course, it's great. You always throw the best parties."
Haechan grins at the compliment, looking around at all the people dancing and laughing. "I try my best. Speaking of which, have you seen Mark around here anywhere? I need to ask him something."
You shake your head, scanning the crowd. "No, I haven't seen him yet. But I'll let you know if I do."
"Thanks, Y/N," Haechan says, before disappearing back into the party.
You turn back to Yeonjun, taking another sip of your drink. "So, what do you think of the party so far?"
"It's…loud," Yeonjun said with a chuckle, his eyes scanning the crowd as well. "But it looks like everyone's having a good time."
You nodded, following his gaze. "Yeah, Haechan knows how to throw a party. Are you having a good time?"
Yeonjun looked back at you, a small smile on his lips. "I am, now that I'm talking to you." You felt your cheeks heat up a little, unsure if it was him or if it was the crazy drink Haechan made you. “So, what does he put in these drinks anyway?”
“Your guess would be as good as mine.” You laugh, “The most important rule for Haechan’s party is to just accept whatever he gives you.”
“Oh yeah? What are the other rules?” He asks, leaning in closer to you.
You pretend to think for a second, comically tapping your finger against your chin, “Get wasted is definitely.” Yeonjun looks at you intently, listening to every word. “And definitely doing stupid shit like streaking through the neighbourhood. Johnny’s parties, however, now those are on a different level.”
“Aw, where’s my invite?”
“He hasn’t had one in a while, but when he does I’m sure you’ll get an invite.” You answer, taking a small sip from your drink. “Johnny’s parties are INSANE! He’s got his own place so we don’t have to worry about his parents or anything.”
Yeonjun raises a brow, “Johnny’s got his own place?”
You nod, eager to continue, “His apartment is so cool like he has a proper sound system that Jackson gave him so it just takes it to the next level.”
His eyes curiously look into yours as he asks, “Who’s Jackson?”
“Just a guy who used to go here, he graduated a couple of years ago. If you get a chance you should totally go to one of his parties.” You explain, finding yourself remembering all the crazy things that used to happen at Jackson’s parties.
“Hey Y/N, can I ask you something?” Yeonjun says after a moment of silence.
“What is it?” You ask curiously, all your attention focused on him.
“Are you and Johnny a thing?”
You almost spit your drink back, lightly choking on it. “What? No!” You exclaim between coughs. “What made you think that?”
“Just wondering.” He says taking a deep breath, a hint of relief evident in his expression. “You two seem really close."
You can't help but laugh at that. "Yeah, we are. Johnny is one of my closest friends," you say. "But that's all it is, really."
Yeonjun nods, seeming satisfied with your answer. "Got it," he says with a smile. "Well, I'm glad we cleared that up."
You suddenly feel a strange sensation wash over you. It's hard to describe, but you feel like something is off. You try to shake it off and continue your conversation, but the feeling only grows stronger. You excuse yourself from the conversation, telling Yeonjun you need some air. As you step out, you take a deep breath and look up at the night sky. The cool air helps to clear your head a little, but the feeling in your stomach doesn't go away. You fumble with your phone, feeling an overwhelming sense of disorientation and unease. You find yourself looking through your contacts, stopping when you see Soobin’s name. You hesitate for a second, before pressing the call button.
With each passing ring, you find yourself regretting calling him more and more. Just as you were about to hang up, you hear a soft voice from the other side, “Y/N?”
“Soobin.” You breathe out, you find yourself already easing a bit.
“Hey…” Soobin breathes, “Is everything okay?” The concern apparent in his voice. You rarely ever call Soobin, hell this is the first time you’ve ever called Soobin. While you still occasionally see him at school and text him regularly, there’s something different about calling him up. You feel embarrassment course through your body. You just called some boy randomly while being at a party, a boy you’ve never even called before.
“Y/N? You there?”
“I-Yeah, I’m here.” You say, feeling incredibly flustered by the second. Why are you getting embarrassed? This is Soobin, an adorable nerd that sits alone in a corner. You are Y/N L/N, the most popular girl at school, why are you getting embarrassed?
“Are you okay?” He asks again, his tone sharper this time.
“I’m okay, I feel kinda sick.” You find yourself telling him about the weird feeling of dread you’re feeling. He patiently listens, letting you finish before saying anything.
“Is it the drink?” He asks. You shake your head, despite the fact he can’t see you.
“No no, it isn’t the drink. I’m not feeling lightheaded or dazed or anything.. I just feel out of place.” You explain to him. You’ve had Haechan’s strong drink a million times before and you’ve never had this feeling before.
Soobin hesitates for a second before letting out a shallow breath, “Do you want me to come get you?”
“Yes.” You say immediately, surprised by your forwardness.
You can imagine Soobin smiling over the phone, his voice always gets clearer when he’s grinning. “Okay, give me 10 minutes.” You send him Haechan’s address and as you hang up you can’t help but feel a little giddy, your uneasiness disappearing almost entirely.
You should probably tell one of your friends you’re leaving so you don’t worry them. You scan the crowded room, looking for Kai. You spot him in the corner, chatting with a group of people. You make your way through the crowd, sidestepping people who are dancing wildly and bumping into each other.
"Hey, Kai!" You call out, trying to get his attention.
He turns towards you, a mischievous grin on his face. "What's up, Y/N? Bored of Yeonjun already?”
You roll your eyes, smiling in spite of yourself. "I was just letting you know that I'll be leaving soon."
"Leaving already?" Kai's eyebrows raise in surprise. "Who are you leaving with, Yeonjun?"
You shake your head. "No, actually. Soobin is coming to pick me up."
Kai looks confused. "Soobin? Who's that?"
"He's a friend," you say louder, over the music of the party. "We're not super close, but I just needed someone to come get me."
Kai pats your back. "Well, you better get going then. Don't want to keep Soobin waiting."
You nod, feeling grateful for his understanding. "Thanks, Kai. I'll see you later."
Before you turn to leave, Kai calls out your name, looking at you with a playful smile on his lips, “You’re telling me all about this Soobin guy tomorrow.” You nod, smiling sadly knowing that he isn’t going to remember this after the scene changes. You can't help but wonder why you feel so out of place tonight. Maybe it's the fact that Yeonjun seems to be paying more attention to you than usual, or maybe it's just the overwhelming noise and chaos of the party.
As you step outside of Haechan's house, you shiver a little from the cold night air. You glance around, searching for Soobin. A few people stumble past you, laughing and shouting drunkenly. You feel a bit out of place, suddenly wishing you were back inside with your friends.
Just as you start to wonder where Soobin is, you see him walking towards you from down the street. He's wearing a hoodie and sweatpants, his hands shoved in his hoodie pockets. You smile in relief as he approaches you.
"Hey," he says, coming to a stop in front of you. "Are you okay?"
You nod, feeling a little embarrassed. "Yeah, sorry for calling you out of nowhere. I just needed to get out of there."
Soobin nods understandingly. "Do you want me to drive you home?"
You shake your head again. "No, can we just walk around for a bit? I need some fresh air."
Soobin agrees, and you start walking down the empty street together. You don't know Soobin very well, but you feel oddly comfortable around him. Maybe it's because he's such a good listener, or maybe it's just because he's not part of the usual drama that surrounds your friend group.
"I'm sorry for waking you up," you finally say, breaking the silence.
"It's no big deal," Soobin replies, smiling at you. "I'm just glad I could be here for you."
You smile at his kindness, feeling a weird pang in your chest. "Thanks, Soobin. You're a good friend."
He chuckles. "I try to be. And hey, it's nice to have someone to walk around with at night. It's peaceful, isn't it?"
You nod, taking in the quiet atmosphere around you. "Yeah, it is. I've never really walked around here at night before."
“Let me give you a new experience then,” Soobin says with a smile, his dimples popping out. As you walk alongside Soobin, you can't help but notice how the moonlight reflects off his features. It's like he's lit up by the night sky, like your own personal star.
As the two of you stroll through the night, you approach a convenience store, its run-down exterior dimly lit by a flickering neon sign above. The sign reads "24/7" in bold white letters, the "7" flickering on and off as if the store is on its last legs. As you approach the convenience store, you can't help but feel a sense of excitement.
You turn to Soobin with a grin, "Let's buy some soju and soda! We can mix them together." Soobin looks a little hesitant, but he nods in agreement. The smell of stale cigarettes and cheap beer hits your nose as you walk in. You and Soobin make your way down the narrow aisles, past rows of chips and candy bars, until you reach the refrigerators in the back.
You grab a few bottles of soju, and Soobin grabs a couple of Ramune sodas. As you make your way to the counter, you notice the cashier giving you both a curious look. You wonder if it's because you're buying alcohol or if it's just because you're walking around with Soobin.
"Excuse me," the cashier says in a gruff voice. "Can I see your IDs?"
You both pull out your IDs and hand them over. The cashier studies them for a moment before nodding and ringing up your purchases. You pay with cash and the two of you step outside, the plastic bags rustling in your hands. You notice a small park across the road. It's quiet, and only a few people are sitting on benches, enjoying the cool night breeze. You tug on Soobin's arm, gesturing to the park, and he nods in agreement.
You cross the road and make your way to the park. The streetlights are dim here, casting an eerie glow across the area. The rustling of the leaves and the occasional hoot of an owl is the only sound you hear. You find a bench near a tree and sit down, patting the empty spot next to you for Soobin to sit.
The bench is old and a bit creaky, but it holds your weight just fine. You lean back, resting your head against the trunk of the tree. The moon is high up in the sky, casting a soft, pale glow over the park. It's peaceful here, and you feel a sense of calm wash over you. You reach into the plastic bag and pull out the soju and soda bottles, setting them down on the bench next to you. You open the soda and take a sip, feeling the sweet, bubbly liquid dance on your tongue. Soobin watches you, still unsure of what to do with his drink.
"Here, try it," you say, holding the soda out to him.
Soobin takes the bottle, unsure of how to open it. You show him how to push down the marble in the bottle, releasing the carbonation. He takes a sip and you watch his face light up with delight.
"This is really good!" he exclaims. You laugh and nod, happy that he likes it. The sound of the soda fizzing fills the air as you twist off the cap, the bubbles dancing in the moonlight. You grab two plastic cups from the bag and pour the soda into them, followed by a generous splash of soju. Soobin watches with fascination as the clear liquid mixes with the soda, creating a light pink hue.
Soobin watches you mix the drinks with curiosity, his eyes glinting in the dim light. You hand him a cup and he takes it, his hand shaking slightly.
"Are you nervous?" you ask, taking a sip of your own drink. The sweet and sour taste of the soda mixes with the sharpness of the soju, creating a perfect balance.
"A little bit," Soobin admits, taking a small sip from his cup. He grimaces slightly at the taste but takes another sip nonetheless.
You giggle, finding his reaction adorable. "Don't worry, you'll get used to it," you say, taking another sip of your drink.
He takes a deep breath and admits, "I've never really drank before."
You feel a bit guilty for suggesting that he drink, but you try to reassure him. "It's okay, we don't have to drink if you don't want to. We can just enjoy the park and the night sky."
Soobin seems a bit relieved at your response, but he still takes another sip of the drink. You can tell that he's trying to get used to the taste. "So, what made you call me tonight?" Soobin asks, breaking the comfortable silence between you.
You hesitate for a moment before answering, staring at your drink. "I don't know, I just felt really… off. And I didn't know who else to call."
Soobin nods, understanding. "Well, I'm glad you called me. I'm always here to talk, even if we're not super close."
You turn to Soobin and give him a warm smile. "Thanks for coming out with me tonight, Soobin. I know it's probably not what you were expecting when you woke up to my phone call earlier." You can’t help but feel touched by Soobin’s words. You know you initially started to talk to him so he could help you win over Yeonjun but you can’t help but think you gained something even better.
Soobin chuckles and shakes his head. "It's fine, really. I'm glad I could help you out."
You take a sip of your drink and look out at the park. The moon is shining bright overhead, casting a soft glow over everything around you. It's quiet except for the occasional sound of crickets chirping and leaves rustling in the wind. The alcohol burns down your throat, but it feels good to have something to distract you from the thoughts swirling around in your head. You know you called Soobin to pick you up from the party, but you still can't put into words what you're feeling.
"So, do you want to talk about what happened earlier?" Soobin asks, breaking the silence.
You take a deep breath, trying to steady your nerves. "I don't even know where to start, Soobin. It's just… everything feels so out of control." "What do you mean?" he asks, turning to look at you.
The thoughts from the last couple of months begin to flood your head. Everything, from finding out you live in a manhwa to being the second lead. Nothing seemed real anymore, all your dreams, your friends, your status. It all felt fake, it made you feel like you haven’t accomplished anything in your life. Everything has just been given to you by the writer, but in the end that's all you are. A two-dimensional character that’s meant to stand in the way between the two main characters.
”I don't know how to explain it," you say, feeling that familiar feeling of dread envelope you. "It's like… I feel like I'm not in charge of my own life like everything is predetermined for me. And it's not just like… normal teenage stuff, you know? It's like… bigger than that."
Soobin nods, taking another swig from the bottle. "I get it. Sometimes it feels like everything is just happening to you, and you have no say in it."
"Yes, exactly!" you exclaim, feeling relieved that someone understands.
"So what do you want to do about it?" Soobin asks, looking at you with concern in his eyes.
You let out a bitter laugh. "I don't know if there's anything I can do. It's like… I'm living in a story, and the writer already knows how everything is going to end. I'm just playing my part, you know?"
Soobin looks at you, a frown creasing his forehead. "What do you mean, living in a story?"
You freeze, realising you said too much. "Uh, nothing. Forget I said that." Remembering what Taehyun told you. He specifically told you it’s dangerous to give people consciousness.
Soobin narrows his eyes, sensing that there's something you're not telling him. "Y/N, what's going on? Is there something you're not telling me?"
You look down at your feet, feeling ashamed. "It's just… I can't explain it. It's complicated."
"You don't have to explain everything to me, Y/N. But if something is bothering you, I want to help." Soobin reaches over and takes your hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Do you feel like you're not in control of your own actions?"
"Exactly. Like I'm just following a script. It's like I'm trapped in the stage, and I can't escape." You sigh to yourself. If only he knew. A part of you just wants to tell him, spill the secret, give him consciousness. But you know it’s selfish, you can’t ruin Soobin’s life like that. You can’t take everything from him.
He looks at you with understanding, "Is there anything I can do to help?"
You wish. "No, I don't think so. I just needed to get it off my chest. Thank you for listening, Soobin."
He nods understandingly, staring down at his feet. Suddenly he looks up, his face unreadable. “Y/N, what do you usually do during lunch?”
“At school?” He nods. “Hmmm… I usually hang out in the cafeteria or underneath that big blossom tree.”
“If you aren’t busy one day… maybe we can resume your piano lessons.” You instantly burst into a grin at Soobin’s words.
“YES YES!” You say a bit too loudly, gaining the attention of late-night strollers. Soobin gently laughs at your enthusiasm. As the night sky darkens and the moon shines bright above you, you take a moment to truly look at Soobin. You can't help but notice just how beautiful he is. His sparkly brown eyes glint in the moonlight, and his dyed blond hair falls slightly in his face as he leans back against the park bench. A weird feeling envelops your body.
"Soobin," you say softly, turning to face him. "You know, you're really beautiful."
Soobin's face turns a light shade of pink at your words, and he looks down at his hands in his lap. "Stop it, Y/N," he says, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
You laugh, taking another swig from the bottle in your hand. "No, seriously," you say, setting the bottle down on the bench. "I mean it. I've never really noticed before, but you're really attractive."
Soobin looks up at you then, a small smile still on his lips. "Thanks, Y/N," he says, his eyes shining in the moonlight.
The night wears on and the alcohol flows more freely, you begin to feel a warmth spreading through your body. The world seems to slow down and your thoughts become more hazy, the weight of the day's events fading away into a distant memory. The stars above seem to twinkle more brightly, and the sound of the city fades into a gentle background hum.
You begin to feel a warm buzz spread throughout your body. Your head feels light and your limbs feel loose, as if they are no longer under your control. You find yourself giggling at everything Soobin says, even if it's not that funny. Everything seems so much funnier when you're a little tipsy.
You take another sip of your drink, you can't help but feel a sense of ease wash over you. All of the stress and anxiety you've been feeling lately seem to fade away, at least for the moment. You feel carefree and lighthearted as if you don't have a care in the world.
Looking over at Soobin, you feel a sense of contentment. He's still talking, and you find yourself getting lost in the sound of his voice. His features are illuminated by the light of the moon, and you can't help but think just how beautiful he looks. You can't help but admire his features once more. The way his eyes crinkle when he laughs, the way his hair falls over his forehead, the way his lips curve upwards in a smile. It's almost as if he's glowing in the soft light of the moon.
In this moment, everything is perfect.
Soobin sways a little as he stands up from the bench, rubbing his eyes sleepily. "It's getting late," he slurs slightly, "we should probably head home."
You nod in agreement, feeling the effects of the alcohol in your system. But as you stand up, the world seems to tilt on its axis and you stumble a bit, grasping onto Soobin's arm for balance.
Soobin chuckles at your stumble. "Do you want to come to my place for the night?" Soobin blushes at his own words, clearing his throat to clarify. “I-I mean it’s late and we’re in no condition to make it to your hous—”
“Sh.” You hush Soobin by placing a finger on his lip, “I know what you mean Soobin, don’t worry.” You say, pulling back, his face turning a deep red.
You and Soobin stumble out of the park and into the quiet streets. The night is chilly, but the alcohol in your system keeps you warm. You cling onto Soobin's arm for support as you make your way to his house. The streetlights cast a warm, golden glow on the pavement, and the stars twinkle in the sky above you.
You start to feel the effects of the alcohol even more strongly. Your feet are aching from the high heels you wore to the party, and you just want to lie down and sleep.
Suddenly, Soobin stops and turns to you. "Do you want me to give you a piggyback ride?" he asks, swaying slightly on his feet.
You look at him sceptically. "Are you sure you can even stand straight, Soobin?"
He grins at you. "I can do it, trust me. Just hop on."
You hesitate for a moment, but the thought of getting off your feet and not having to walk anymore is too tempting. You nod and climb onto Soobin's back, wrapping your arms tightly around his neck.
You giggle, feeling giddy and lightheaded. "Don't drop me now, Soobin."
"I won't," he says, chuckling. "I've got you."
The walk to Soobin's house seems to go by in a blur as you rest your head on his shoulder, feeling safe and comfortable on his back. The world around you seems to spin as you both stumble your way to his front door, but Soobin manages to get the key in the lock and open it. “Sorry, it’s taking me a bit,” he slurs.
“It’s okay,” you say, leaning against the wall for support.
You and Soobin stumble your way through the dark hallways of his house, giggling uncontrollably as you try to keep quiet. His parents are asleep, and you don't want to wake them up. Soobin's arm is draped around your shoulder as he guides you to his room.
As you make your way up the stairs, Soobin whispers to you, "Be quiet, we don't want to wake up my parents." You nod in agreement and try your best to stifle your giggles.
When you finally reach his bedroom, Soobin gently opens the door and motions for you to enter. You tiptoe inside, taking in the small but cosy room. Soobin closes the door behind him and turns to face you.
"We made it," he whispers, a hint of triumph in his voice.
You nod and smile, still feeling giddy from the alcohol. "Yeah, we did."
Once inside his room, Soobin turns on a lamp on his bedside table. You plop down on his bed, feeling the exhaustion and alcohol-induced dizziness weighing you down.
“Thank you for the ride Soobin.” You express, looking at the tall male.
“Don’t worry about it.” He smiles. Suddenly, he turns around, fumbling through his drawers and pulls out a pair of shorts. He hands them over to you with a goofy smile.
"Here, wear these. You'll be more comfortable than sleeping in those jeans."
You take the shorts from him, feeling grateful for his thoughtfulness. As you start to change, you can feel Soobin's eyes on you. You turn around to find him staring at you, his cheeks slightly flushed from the alcohol.
"Sorry," he mumbles, looking away. "I'll turn around."
You giggle softly, feeling a little giddy from the alcohol. "It's fine, Soobin. I don't mind."
He turns around anyway, and you quickly change into the shorts. They're a little big on you, but they're soft and comfortable. As you climb into bed, Soobin gets into his side, turning off the lamp on his bedside table. You feel the warmth of the blankets and the softness of the pillows. You turn to your side and face Soobin who is already lying down beside you.
"Can we cuddle?" you ask, your voice soft and slurred from the alcohol.
Soobin hesitates for a moment before nodding shyly. "Sure," he says, his cheeks turning slightly pink.
You move closer to him and nuzzle into his chest, enjoying the feeling of his warmth against your skin. Soobin wraps his arms around you, holding you close as you both drift off into a drunken slumber.
After a few moments, you look up at him and notice that he's blushing. "What?" you ask, grinning mischievously.
"Nothing," he mumbles, looking away.
"Come on, Soobin, you can tell me," you tease, poking him in the side.
"It's just…I'm not used to having someone in bed with me like this," he admits, his cheeks growing redder.
You lift your head slightly to look at him and see a hint of nervousness in his expression. Despite being drunk, you can tell that he's being serious. "Really?" you ask, surprised.
Soobin nods slowly. "Yeah, I've never really had anyone over to my house like this before," he says, his voice trailing off. "I hope it's not too weird for you."
You give him a reassuring smile. "No, it's not weird," you say.
"I'm glad you're here," he whispers, his voice barely audible.
You smile sleepily. "Me too."
The only sound that fills the room is your breathing and the rustling of the sheets as you shift slightly. You can feel Soobin's fingers gently tracing small circles on your back, and it sends shivers down your spine. As you nuzzle back into his chest, you feel yourself drift off into a peaceful slumber, the steady beat of Soobin's heart lulling you into a deep sleep.
You slowly start to regain consciousness and realize that you’re in Soobin's bed. The first thing you notice is that you’re lying on your side with your head resting on his chest and his arm wrapped around you. The second thing you notice is the dull throbbing in your head. You groan softly and move your head, trying to ease the pain.
As you do, Soobin stirs beside you, and his arm tightens around you slightly. He mumbles something unintelligible. You try to sit up, but your headache intensifies, so you groan and lie back down.
‘Come on Y/N! You’ve been hungover before. Just make it out of bed.’ You think to yourself, pumping yourself up.
You carefully extricate yourself from his grasp and sit on the edge of the bed, rubbing your temples. The headache is almost unbearable and you feel like you've been hit by a truck. You look around the room, trying to figure out what time it is. The sun is shining brightly through the window, telling you that it's well into the morning.
You stand up slowly, trying to steady yourself as the room spins around you. You spot your clothes from last night strewn around the room and hastily put them on. You don't want to overstay your welcome and you're not sure how you feel about what happened between you and Soobin last night.
As you struggle to put on your jeans, you hear Soobin stir beside you. He groans and rubs his head, clearly hungover. He looks at you with a confused expression and starts apologising profusely.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. Did I do something last night? I don't remember anything. Did I make you uncomfortable?" he asks, his voice laced with panic.
You pause and look at him, trying to process what he's saying. You realise he's probably worried that something happened between you both while you were drunk.
"No, no, nothing happened," you reassure him. "We just fell asleep cuddling, that's all."
Soobin lets out a sigh of relief and slumps back onto the bed. "Okay, good. I was really worried for a second there," he says.
"It's okay, Soobin. Everyone has their first time drinking too much," you say, smiling reassuringly at him.
He nods, still looking a bit ashamed. "I just hope I didn't make a fool of myself in front of you." Soobin sighs running his hand through his messy hair.
You chuckle, trying to lighten the mood. "Don't worry, Soobin. You were just a bit loud and giggly, that's all. It was actually kind of cute."
Soobin smiles back, his face flushing with colour. "Really?"
You finish getting dressed and make your way over to the window, trying to leave without waking up his parents. But Soobin stops you before you can even open it.
"Wait, where are you going?" he asks, sounding a bit hurt.
You turn back to him, surprised by his reaction. "I was just going to head back to my place. I don't want to wake up your parents," you explain, turning back to the window.
As you try to slip through, you feel Soobin's hand on your shoulder, stopping you. "Y/N, please don't leave like this. Let me walk you home," he says, his eyes pleading with you.
“Soobin your parents are gonna freak if they find me with you.” You try to explain, still sitting on the window pane. “I mean I called you late at night, made you sneak out of your house to get wasted with me at the park- and by the way you’ve never even drank so basically I corrupted their son and then we sneaked back into your house completely senseless and we slept in the same bed.”
“Yes, but nothing happened.” As Soobin pleads with you to stay, you couldn't help but think about your ex-boyfriend Dongsik. The memories of sneaking out of his house early in the morning flood your mind. He always made you leave through the window, claiming that his parents wouldn't approve of you sleeping over.
“We know that but they won’t. I mean I wouldn’t believe me.” You ramble, sort of terrified at the idea of getting caught by his parents.
“My parents trust me, I promise they won’t think it’s weird.” He reassures, holding onto your cold hands with his warm ones. You stare into his puppy dog eyes, and that alone is almost enough to make your stay. “Please.”
"Okay, I'll stay," you say, hoping that he won't notice the hesitation in your voice. "But we should probably try to be quiet and not wake your parents up."
Soobin grins in relief and nods vigorously. "Of course! We'll be as quiet as mice. Don't worry, my parents won't mind. They know I'm responsible enough to handle my own hangover."
As you and Soobin walked down the stairs, you couldn't help but feel a little nervous. Soobin's parents didn't know you were here, and you've never met them before. You could hear the sound of utensils clinking against plates coming from the kitchen as you approached.
Soobin's parents were already sitting at the table, enjoying their breakfast. His mother looked up from her plate and her eyes widened in surprise when she saw you. "Oh, Soobin, you didn't tell us you had a guest," she said.
Soobin rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Sorry, um, this is Y/N. She's a friend from school," he explained.
His father looked up from his newspaper and gave you a small smile. "It's nice to finally meet you, Y/N," he said. "Soobin talks about you a lot."
You felt a small wave of relief wash over you. Soobin had mentioned you to his parents before, so at least they knew who you were. "It's nice to meet you too," you said, returning the smile.
Soobin's mother gestured to the empty chair at the table. "Please, sit down and join us for breakfast," she said warmly.
You hesitated for a moment, feeling a little awkward about intruding on their family breakfast. But Soobin's pleading eyes convinced you otherwise. "Thank you, I would love to," you said, taking a seat at the table.
Soobin's mother served you a plate of delicious homemade breakfast. The aroma of freshly cooked food filled the air, making your stomach growl with anticipation. As you took your first bite, Soobin's mother turned to you with a curious smile. "So, Y/N, what did you and Soobin do yesterday?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with interest.
You couldn't help but blush slightly, feeling a bit flustered. You exchanged a quick glance with Soobin, both of you unsure how to answer. After all, the events of last night were a blur due to the effects of the alcohol.
"Um, well, we went out for a walk in the park and had a few drinks," you replied, trying to keep your explanation vague.
Soobin chimed in, eager to divert the attention away from any potentially embarrassing details. "Yeah, we just hung out and talked for a while," he added, his voice slightly shaky.
Soobin's mother nodded understandingly. "That sounds lovely. It's nice to see my son spending time with friends," she said warmly.
"Soobin, you have no idea the things we did back in our younger days," His father chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Your mother and I had our fair share of wild nights."
Soobin’s mother playfully elbowed her husband and added, "Yes, but we always made sure to be responsible and take care of ourselves. As long as you two were safe and didn't put yourselves in danger, we trust your judgment."
You can't help but laugh at their stories and the relaxed atmosphere in the room. Soobin's parents seem to be really chill about the situation, and you feel grateful for that.
After finishing your breakfast, you push your plate away and sit back in your chair, feeling content and full. Soobin turns to you, a happy smile plastered on his face, "Do you need a ride back home? I can drop you off."
You appreciate the kind offer but politely decline, assuring him, "Thank you so much, but it's okay. I'll just call an Uber. It's more convenient for me."
Soobin's mother nods understandingly, her eyes filled with motherly concern. "Alright, dear. Just make sure to take care of yourself. You know you can always ask us for a ride if you need one, right?"
You smile gratefully, touched by her thoughtfulness. "Thank you, Mrs Choi. I'll keep that in mind. You've been so kind."
Soobin's mother waves off your gratitude with a gentle smile. "It's no problem at all, dear. We're always here for Soobin's friends. Just take care and have a safe trip home."
You quickly pull out your phone, typing a quick message to Taehyun, asking him to pick you up. Sure, you could call an Uber but you can’t stand the thought of being alone with your thoughts right now. Especially since you’re still a bit hungover and your head is killing you. Taehyun, almost in an instant texts back with a simple ‘👍’
"Thank you so much for having me over," you say sincerely. "I really appreciate your kindness and welcoming me into your home."
Soobin's parents exchange a knowing glance and his mother responds with a gentle smile, "It was our pleasure, dear. We're always happy to see Soobin spending time with good friends." Soobin's father nods in agreement, adding, "You're welcome here anytime. Don't hesitate to visit again."
You feel a wave of warmth and gratitude wash over you as their words sink in. It's comforting to know that you're not just an unexpected guest but someone who is genuinely welcome.
You feel the vibration of your phone, Taehyun’s message lighting up your phone. ‘I’m here’
“Thank you so much for everything.” You say once again, standing up. “My ride’s here.”
“I’ll walk you out,” Soobin says, quickly getting up too. Soobin’s parents smile at you, giving you a small wave and asking you to visit soon.
“Your parents are so nice.” You tell him as you make your way out of the door.
“I told you they’d be chill about it.” You both laugh in agreement.
“Thank you Soobin.” You say, turning to face him. “For everything.”
He gives you a dimpled smile, his Adam’s apple bobbing like he wants to say something but doesn’t. As Taehyun's car pulls up into Soobin's driveway, you say your final goodbyes to Soobin and thank him for the night. Wanting to maintain a sense of normalcy and not make it obvious that you called Taehyun to pick you up, you open the back door and slide into the spacious backseat of the car. Taehyun turns to you, a playful grin forming on his face.
“Why are you sitting in the back?” Taehyun asks, puzzled as you close the door.
“Oh my god. Drive!” You say, slightly embarrassed, wondering if Soobin recognised Taehyun’s car.
“Alright, alright.” He puts his hands up in defence, starting the car and pulling off Soobin’s driveway. “So…Soobin huh?” He says with a teasing smile.
You groan into your hands. You’ve got a lot of explaining to do.
Hiii. How are you? I hope you're doing fine, I read your new addition to the poly relationship thing and it was really cool.
I was wondering if you have more headcannons of them? Maybe what pet names Jean and eren use for each other or the love language they have for each other,do they use physical touch or maybe words of affirmation or anything else? Or how they make out. Also do they cuddle (just the two of them)? Like maybe Eren had a bad day or something and I recall you mentioned that eren stops frowning when Jean touches his brows or smth like that. So what if eren had a bad day and he needs Jean to comfort him,do they cuddle or they just hug?
I'm curious about Jean's mom having a hard time with the poly relationship thing. At this point I'm just rambling,sorry.
I just wanted to see your thought on this cause I have some but I don't know how the others perceive it. Anyways thanks you so much,i love your content 🫶🏻🫶🏻
hellooooo cutie pie nonny :) this has been sitting in my ask box for AGES like since i dropped the last erejean fic i think and i have been so excited to answer it. i'm sorry it took me forever!!! but i am back and ~ ready to chat ~
more poly!erejean headcanons because anon said so
i think it takes them foreverrrrrr to be physically affectionate with each other, and it honestly takes jean awhile to get physical with you too, just bc of the dynamic changing
eren's love language is definitely physical touch, jean's is definitely gift-giving
whenever you or eren texts in your group chat (because of course you have a "y/n's bfs<3" groupchat lol) that you're having the worst day at work, jean's already plotting what store he's running by to pick something up for you as a nice little surprise
maybe it's ingredients for your favorite dinner, your favorite candy, a new pair of fuzzy socks, etc.
eren, on the other hand, just crushes you/jean with the biggest, tightest hug he can manage whenever you're having a bad day. probably offers a massage of some sort.
eren just ...very absentmindedly touches you and jean? like he is always just running a hand over your waist as he passes you in the kitchen, playing with jean's fingers while he scrolls on his phone, kicks his feet up on your lap to watch tv. it feels uncomfortable for him to be in the same room as either of you and not touch you somehow.
jean's favorite thing in the world is to have each of you tucked under his arms cuddling. insists on being in the middle for movie night.
i can't remember if i've mentioned this but eren and jean love sharing clothes. eren's the worst about it- he's literally always snagging jean's stuff and jean, misunderstanding at first, started buying eren a couple of his shirts that he noticed going missing. he got the point when eren never touched his new shirts.
eren 100% nuzzles into jean and you like a dog like noses against your shoulder/neck/tummy
just some little cuddling/physical touch hcs <3 as for jean's mom, i picture her being very traditional, wanting jean to get married and have children. jean has been bi for years in this verse, but very quietly bi, like maybe had a bf in college, told his mom (it took her a minute, but she came around) and his closest friends but keeps it pretty lowkey.
when he told his mom about his relationship with you and eren, the poly dynamic was just completely unlike anything she'd ever heard of and it really caught her by surprise. she wasn't outright unsupportive, but she's very old-fashioned and she just didn't understand how it could function like a legitimate, serious relationship. but when jean just keeps mentioning you both more and more (he knows things like this take her awhile, and she knows her boy is serious by how insistently he keeps bringing it up), she can just hear how happy jean is and wants to see how it works and give it a chance.
she's always adored eren through all the years she's known him, and she's smitten with you the second you shyly cross the threshold into her house, complimenting the decor. she never goes back, just has a few tentative questions for jean here and there, but all that matters to her is that her boy is being made happy by two wonderful people :)
How to get a girlfriend #2
Tumblr media
002
"ARE YOU IN A PLAY?"
"alright, the first step is to get her to notice you," alahna says as she reads the lines on her phone, then looks up to her friend, and smiles brightly.
"she already does that, though," matt says, looking at alahna, "they're friends, remember?"
the four friends are sitting in chris's neat room (it's only neat because marylou cleaned it), thinking about a way for romi to like chris. nick and alahna are looking at the phone screen, reading the first step on the site.
"i know i'm right, the first step is already done. they're friends and know each other, right? they've hung out a couple of times. i mean, we're always together as a group," matt says, putting a twix bar in his mouth and chewing on the candy, not really getting what they're so smiley about.
"no!" nick says, "you got it all wrong. they've hung out, yes... but have they really? we usually hang out in a group like you said, matt. i don't think they've really hung out together, aside from their study-dates," he continues, and nods to alahna to continue.
the girl continues her friend's story, and nods, "right! Here it says he should get her to notice him with objects. wearing items that attract woman, like leather jackets, jewelry, suits, or maybe a tattoo!"
"oh, yeah! you should get a tattoo!" nick shouts, looking at his brother. "that would be so cool!"
chris widens his eyes, and shakes his head repeatedly. "Are you fucking nuts, Nick? I'm not getting a tattoo!" he says, rolling his eyes at his friends. "This sounds so stupid."
"a leather jacket it is, then," nick mumbles, secretly thinking the tattoo would be great. you see, chris would be really hot with a tattoo, right? it would make him jump out for sure! that way, romi has no other way than to like the boy back. but of course, if he doesn't want to, the leather jacket should work too.
"it also says that you shouldn't use excuses that are stopping you in track for not talking to her. don't say she's not interested in you because you don't know that yet. good point, if you ask me!" alahna says, reading the lines out loud to her friends.
"but what if she doesn't like me?" the boy asks, thinking about all the possible ways this plan could go wrong.
alahna shakes her head, sighing at her friend. "and that is exactly what you shouldn't think!" she tells the guy, watching him look into the distance. what is he even thinking about? she thinks about the possibilities of the boy's thoughts, but can't come up with anything.
"alright, let's get a leather jacket and get him to talk to romi!" nick then says, getting up from the bed.
once the group exits chris's room, matt finally lets out his long-held in laugh. he had been quietly thinking about how stupid his brother was going to look. he would pay anything to see his brother look so dumb in front of his crush. he hastily made his way downstairs not wanting to miss even a second of this free entertainment.
the next day, the four of them go to school, heading to the common meeting place where the black-haired girl usually waits for them.
"make sure you keep smiling when you approach her! oh, and relax your body. you'll do great!" alahna whispers as she gives a big thumbs-up to her friend.
everyone is standing behind the wall. romi is opening her locker, looking for some books for the next class. alahna gives her friend a small push in the right direction. the three friends then hide behind the wall. somehow they don't realise matt recording while, they watch chris talk to their other friend.
the nervous boy takes a deep breath and walks towards the kitchen area, leaning against the fridge while he starts to talk. "oi, romi. What's up?"
the black-haired girl turns around as she hears the familiar voice of her friend. "hey, chris—" she starts, then noticing while his words are somewhat normal, the clothes he's wearing and the way he leans against the fridge is something he would never do.
"what the fuck are you wearing?" she asks, laughing at him and eyeing him up and down. he looks great, she has to admit that, but why the sudden change? this is nothing like him. he would never lean against a fridge while he's wearing a leather jacket. is this some kind of joke?
meanwhile, the three friends standing behind the wall, are chuckling slightly. "this was a bad idea," matt mumbles, watching his brother. everyone is cringing at the way chris approaches their friend. he approached her with confidence, but it is so not like him that, it just looks weird. and they're sure that romi thinks so too...
chris panics at her words, and he starts to stammer. "uh..." he manages to bring out.
quick, come with something!
how is he going to get out of this awkward situation?
"are you in a play or something?" she asks, laughing uncontrollably at her best friend. "because if that's the case, I would pay a lot of money to see you play the bad boy, chris."
his face starts to flush red and he nods. "well, alahna and nick had this fun idea of signing up for the play but they wanted to see if i could be the gangster. that's that. i don't think it's going to work out, though. thanks for confirming that. i'll go tell them now, see you at lunch, romi" he yells in her face, then turns around to walk back to his friends.
romi frowns at his explanation as she watches her best friend turn around the corner, shaking her head a little. "that was so fucking weird," she mumbles, then shrugging and turning back to the lockers. shortly, she feels a vibration in her pocket and pulls her phone out.
Riddle reacting at the Halloween event one of the visitors asking their loved one to marry them
Riddle Rosehearts
Tumblr media
Everyone was busy receiving visitors and that included you, even though your dorm was not available for visits you took advantage of your wizard costume with Grim to create a character to cheer up both adults and children, old magic tricks from your world and a kind personality.
As your dorm prohibited access to visitors, the idea is that you and Grim wander around the place like wandering witches, whoever found them could buy some of their trinkets, win a candy or watch a small magic show with Grim's help.
You two didn't have a fixed place, so it's easy to walk around and visit your colleagues to see how they were doing, as well as playing with the visitors a little, the first day the visitors weren't so curious, but lately everyone was looking forward to seeing the wizards wandering.
ー Here's your gift for meeting us, the sorcerers wish you a good stay, little one.
You gave the last child the candy in the form of a frog, then watching him run to his friends who were waiting for him, hearing the voices of the little ones getting further and further away.
ー You're very good with children ー one of your classmates commented approaching with a few more people you recognized. It wasn't long before another visitor approached, Grim grinned as he took the reins.
ー Hey, human! you found one of the greatest mages, do you want a reward or buy something to never forget? ー Grim motioned to some small objects but the visitor was far from really paying attention to the cat, going straight to what he wanted, in this case, you, passing by Grim who quickly got annoyed at being completely ignored.
ー Hey! I'm talking with you! Can't you hear me?!ー You decided to smile when the visitor stopped in front of you.
ー Can I help with something?
the visibly shy visitor just managing to utter "I would like you to marry me."
M O R T I F I E D
He looked the visitor up and down to think how offensive it is to just ask to marry him
I don't need to mention that he thinks so because he wanted to propose to you too, JEALOUS OF THIS COURAGE ARGH!!!
Looking to the side he can see Deuce completely shocked, Ace with his hand over his mouth undecided whether to laugh or despair, Cater cautiously holding the phone and Trey putting his hand on Riddle's shoulder
But he's not putting a hand on his shoulder for some comfort but it's like "Don't be silly" or "stop" because he knows exactly what Riddle is thinking
In case you didn't know about Riddle's crush on you, then... by now it's pretty obvious why everyone is walking on eggshells with Riddle in this situation avoiding his stress
An awkward silence reigned as your brain processed what was really going on and Grim was sure you broke.
ー What?ー you say and Grim climbs on your shoulder and answers for the boy.ー He asked you to marry him!
ー Your wandering witch story moved me a lot and i confess that i am in love with your kindnessー You chose to politely decline while still in character, holding the visitor's hands and smiling.
ー I am moved by your love but I can't accept it, I can only love someone powerful in magic to break the curse on my heartー Letting go of the visitor's hands and taking a small key chain and placing it between his hands ー Don't worry about me, me and my partner we will be fine.
Riddle didn't even notice the sigh of relief at his silly response to the visitor and unfortunately neither did you.
ー I mean if your family is rich- HUM!
Grim before completing was quickly silenced by Deuce since Riddle was in his own world just paying attention to you and your shy conversation.
It wasn't long before you were saying goodbye to visitor with a goofy smile.
ー I was thinking, Riddle is strong enough to break his curse, isn't he?ー Cater asked purposefully making both of you shy, initially you didn't think you should answer but you saw how everyone was looking curiously.ー I can't tell, do you think you can do it, Riddle?
Riddle with a surprised face closed his eyes to take a deep breath and remain calm while his face turned completely red and his heart seemed desperate to show how he felt.
ー I think soー Riddle replied a little low and Ace opened a huge smile.
ー We didn't listen, what did you say?
ー I said there are new visitors, come on!
Riddle replied in his raw self again as he went back to attend to the other people, Ace sighed sadly ー I'm tireed
ー We're almost done, happy halloween.ー Trey said patting Ace on the back and walking them back while all you could do is wave at them.
ー Happy halloween, guys!
ILLIT - "MAGNETIC"
A K-pop debut that we're quite drawn to...
[7.15]
youtube
Iain Mew: It's 2024, of course the single picked from their EP picked is the song with the most candied music-box elements. The song isn't as fully committed to replicating that sound as the tentative spoken word intro suggests, which means its sweetness is diluted, but the other elements in the mixture work with it. The bass stomping forward and the 2010s stuttered "you you you"s are a great alternative, and the 16-bit swoops and pops tie it all together with a fizz. [8]
TA Inskeep: This smart K-pop groove has the feel of '80s first-wave electro without actually sounding like it. I don't love the sound effect-sounding stuff, but "Magnetic"'s airiness (especially ILLIT's vocals) counterbalances its rubbery bassline nicely. [7]
Alfred Soto: Its twitchy pulse and winking vocals are a tonic after the relationship psychobabble of their American contemporaries. [7]
Nortey Dowuona: Super eclectic. I'm very proud of Martin KOR. For a first credit, he made his mark; he should have more than one credit. [8]
Isabel Cole: A pleasantly summery little bit of froth; I like the video game twinkles that pop up every now and then. [6]
Taylor Alatorre: Nobody wants an entire genre, even the most vertically integrated of genres, to be flattened into an arms race pursuit of weaponized competence. But there's a bit of a collective action problem, in that it's very hard to object to any single display of that weaponized competence. The besotted bits of spoken word that bookend "Magnetic" are like the blurb on the back of a bag of potato chips, touting its recipe's lovingly handmade origins and capped off with the inkjet signature of the company's long-dead, possibly apocryphal founder. The chips taste good. [7]
Katherine St. Asaph: Synth and squelch and pneumatic charm, engineered to precise specs. [8]
Ian Mathers: None of the alerts from my phone or computer (personal or work) sound much at all like that notification-ass effect they use here, and yet I have found myself reflexively checking to see whether someone's trying to get a hold of me at least 3-4 times each time I've played "Magnetic." I can't decide if it's genius or maddening or both. [6]
Michael Hong: ILLIT make low-key proclamations: "you're! my! crush!" exclaimed, but only on paper; "we're magnetized, I admit it," confessed, but not meant to be heard. "Magnetic" is all glittery synths and the word "you" transformed into a dial-tone sound effect, toeing the line between fantasy and reality in regards to a crush, but perhaps that's what makes it so addictive. [7]
Joshua Minsoo Kim: Pretty easy to pin down everything here: a spoken intro reminscent of vintage Apink, a vocal melody that points to K-pop’s undying love for “My Boo,” the sort of half-time breakdown that TWICE has been doing since “Likey,” a diaphanous atmosphere that screams NewJeans, bed squeaks that are decidedly unsexy, and pretty synth flourishes and vocal manipulations that are classic “K-pop does J-pop” a la Red Velvet’s “Russian Roulette.” It’s a summation of girlish K-pop throughout the past 15 years made palatable for the genre’s 5th gen. [7]
Leah Isobel: The TWICE-ification of NewJeans -- more garishly obvious, with a thicker candy shell that messes with the textural balance. Still tasty, but less subtle. [6]
Kayla Beardslee: Everything is NewJeans -- except it’s also not, Min Hee Jin, stop making your delusions everyone else’s problem. Trend shifts happen when a force builds up in the background without people noticing, until someone influential who’s great at reading the room happens to give it a push that bursts the damn, and suddenly everyone is swimming together in the changed current. In the last few months, the dam has burst on the 5th generation of K-pop, and "Magnetic" may well have been the song that caused it.
I don’t think even ILLIT’s company expected their level of breakout success: it seems like K-pop listeners were waiting for a release like "Magnetic" without even knowing it, and when it finally came along, it was so perfectly primed for the current moment that we had no choice but to be pulled in. What set the stage for ILLIT wasn’t one group so genius and unique that their tactics simultaneously influence everything yet cannot be replicated, but a combination of releases from multiple big names over several years that gradually pushed K-pop in a new direction. First, in late 2021, IVE debuted to instant massive success with a concept that was essentially "What if we just made good pop music without any gimmicks?" Then NewJeans picked up that same idea and debuted in summer 2022 to even more unprecedented success, causing an instant aesthetic reset in K-pop from the boldness and busy-ness of most leading 4th gen groups back to mellowness, warmth, and simplicity. Between mid-2023 and early 2024, Zerobaseone, RIIZE, and TWS debuted, which was the first time in several years that multiple high-profile boy groups debuted in quick succession. All three hit it off with breezy debut singles about letting boys have fun and be earnest instead of acting cool. (Think about the dorky confessions and bright synths of TWS’s "Plot Twist" next to to the shouted chorus and crunchy hip-hop textures of NCT 127’s "Kick It.") Then, in the span of three days at the end of this March, five different K-pop related girl groups debuted with singles that ranged from mellow candy-colored pop to tight electropop to chill pop-R&B to, finally, the ILLIT track we’re actually reviewing.
Most 4th gen K-pop singles are distinguished by a density of ideas and hugeness of sound that match the expanding size of the global K-pop audience in the late 2010s to early 2020s -- the glut of Blackpink-inspired girl crush comebacks, the boy groups doing a million loud hip-hop and electronic songs, tons of rapping regardless of how good they are at it, deliberately disjointed song sections -- but the flood of girl group debuts in the last week of March focused first and foremost on constructing a solid pop beat, then layering relaxed, approachable vocals over it with a topline that does just enough to keep the listener interested. (If you’re asking, "Is this too slight, or is it actually good?" then it’s probably on trend.) Compare these to the energy and density of "Dalla Dalla," "Savage," "Tomboy," or "Panorama," and you’re in two completely different worlds.
This is how we ended up with "Magnetic," which is nowhere near the most musically ambitious or complex track of the year, and certainly not the most vocally interesting, but is a gently glowing sign that we’ve transitioned into a new generation of K-pop that values entirely different aesthetics. It’s also so supernaturally catchy that it sounds like it was created in a lab: not in a "Haha K-pop is a product" kind of way, but like I think they actually had test tubes with different samples of the hooks sitting around in the HYBE building, and they probably tested them on animals to find the most insidiously catchy ones. (Like, does Lauren Aquilina have a dog who listens as she writes?) "Magnetic" is the biggest K-pop bop of the year so far, and yet it feels so small and accessible due to the incredible economy of its tight, groovy production and its multitude of hooks, which are embedded not just in the lyrics but also the rhythm of the instrumental against the vocals and the careful negative space placed throughout. (Oh! beat My! beat Gosh!) ILLIT are balanced on the crest of the wave as K-pop moves into a new generation, from the larger-than-life ambitions of the 4th gen to the idol-next-door simplicity of the 5th. They didn’t set the wave in motion, but they caught it just early enough to have a pivotal role in its shaping. "Magnetic" is perfectly constructed and historically significant, but it’s also cute and so much fun: I can’t imagine hating a song as endearing as this. Wait... why do I hear boss battle music? [9]
Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: pretty! [7]
Has anyone in the pack ever been caught having sex?
Tumblr media
"I have been sworn to secrecy so many times." Jeongin sighs regretfully, mischief blooming in his dark, narrow eyes. "But I guess if you're asking-"
"NO." Several frantic voices chorus at once, all a little too loud and a little too quickly.
Jeongin sits back and smirks, looking fully vindicated, as Changbin clears his throat.
"Let's just say that when you live with nine people, and you all share spaces, that sometimes things get a little awkward."
"You can't just tell them that and then not elaborate." Jisung complains. "That's not even answering the question."
"Fine. We can raise hands." Changbin huffs, shooting a glare at the beta beside him. "Who in the pack has ever walked in on someone, or been walked in on?"
Every single person in the room raises their hand.
"God." Chan groans, rubbing at his face in an agitated motion. "We really need to invest in locks."
"We have locks." Hyunjin protests.
"We just never use them." Felix adds, raising a brow as if this should be common knowledge by now.
"Listen. I'm not complaining." Hyunjin speaks up again with a slight shrug, a smirk hovering on his full lips now. "Usually when someone interrupts, they just end up joining in eventually, and the more the merrier, I say."
"I like my personal space. So I use my lock, thank you." Seungmin sniffs, not even glancing up from his phone, as Jisung squawks in protest and leans around Changbin to stare at him with something akin to betrayal on his features.
"How can you say that when we share a room?"
Seungmin merely shrugs and goes back to playing Candy Crush.
"Plus we all know that Felix-hyung likes to snuggle everyone whenever and wherever he wants." Jeongin adds, snuggling up against the other omega, who gently runs fingers through the dark strands of his hair.
"And Minho-hyung's bathroom has the best tub in the house." Jisung shrugs now, like it's a known fact, and it is, because several people nod. "For bubble baths and-other stuff."
"Surprisingly-" Chan speaks up now, seeming to have gotten over his embarrassment from earlier. "-speaking of 'Minho-hyung.' He's actually the worst out of all of us when it comes to sex in public spaces."
Minho accepts the accusation with a flourish of his hand. "I can't help it that I like the thrill of getting caught, Christopher. It's in my nature."
"Just not the kitchen." You point out, and everyone nods adamantly, as Minho's features darken dangerously.
"Never the kitchen."
"One time hyung and I got walked in on at the community center." Hyunjin volunteers nonchalantly, looking surprised when everyone whips their heads toward him in instant interest. His eyes widen imperceptibly. "What? Did I never tell you this?"
"No!" Jisung screeches, looking moments away from throttling the unbothered omega.
"Oh. Well." Hyunjin gives a half shrug. "It was after I got done teaching water aerobics for the day, and I went to the locker room to change so I could prep for my art class, and Minho-hyung had just finished his afternoon dance class, so he was there too, and, you know. Things got spicy."
"We had sex in the community center shower." Minho supplies dryly, arching a brow as he glances at Hyunjin, who grins.
"Yeah, and anyway, one of our coworkers walked in when things were getting a little intense, and hyung instantly slapped his hand over my mouth and told me to shut up, and basically just pinned me against the wall to keep me still, as this guy stops right in front of our shower and is like, 'Hey, Minho? Hyuna wanted me to find you and tell you to see her before your next class."
"And hyung, cool as a cucumber, was just like, 'Yeah, okay. Thanks, JB. Lemme just finish up.' And then the guy left and we literally just finished up and actually showered and went our separate ways to teach our afternoon classes."
"Oh my god. You're animals." Changbin grumbles, but he's biting back a smile.
"Does this JB guy know you're together?" Felix asks with sudden interest, curiosity on his features.
"No way in hell."
"Yes."
Hyunjin and Minho answer at the same time, turning to glare at each other.
"Hyung, he's literally seen you slap my ass on more than one occasion."
"So? I do that to everyone. Doesn't make you special, Hwang Hyunjin. And definitely doesn't make you my boyfriend."
Hi there! Do you think you could right something for Max and the reader? After several attempts of getting her to accept his love, he finally succeeded and plan something really romantic at night for her a few weeks after when he gets the time. Them having an official date night and maybe ending in some sweet love making😊💚💚💚
Thank you so much for your lovely request anon 🖤 I absolutely love it. 🙏
I was working the night shift in the local bar when a familiar face popped up in front of me. "Hey babes missed me?" I smiled "Hey Max what can I do for you?" he sat down at the bar. "How about a bourbon? And your phone number?" "How about a coke cause you're on medication and no not gonna happen." I put the glass on the bar in front of him. " he sighed and took a sip." Why don't you want to go out with me Y/N? You know I'm absolutely crazy about you. " then his attention went from me to one of our dancers Lana. "Well, Max maybe if you'd be serious about it. It's not that I don't like you, you're cute and I bet you can be a wonderful partner but... You can't tell me you want me while your eyes are glued to Lana's ass. I want a serious relationship Max, I'm done playing around. " the expression in his face completely changed, it seemed that he really thought about my words." Y/N I'm... I'm sorry. " " Yeah whatever, I have to work now, have a nice evening. " I turned around, cleaning glasses and serving other people. I really wished Max's words were true cause I had a crush on him since he first walked in, he was sweet and funny but also a player. When he started to ask me for a date I had to pull myself together not to agree immediately. I've been hurt many times in the past so if Max couldn't show me that he was serious, it wouldn't happen. It's been a week without Max showing up till a Monday night when I was sweeping the floor. "Let me prove it!" Max said rushing through the door. "What do you mean?" I asked "I was thinking about what you said that night and you're right, I never showed you I was serious and I wanna change that. Please Y/N let me prove my feelings for you. I would never hurt you you know that right? . " he looked directly in my eyes, a mix of desperation and sadness. I took a deep breath." Alright you have one chance Max, but if you're just playing around... " suddenly he pulled me into a very tight hug" Don't worry Y/N you won't regret it, I promise. " " Max you're crushing me. " he immediately let go." I'm sorry I'm just so excited. Give me a few days to prepare something okay? I want to make it unforgettable for you." my heart started beating faster, seeing him so excited was adorable. I gave him my phone number to call me when he's finished, then he left jumping like a little boy on his way to the candy store.
“ everyone else can see it but you. ” + choiwen!
hehe ricky n evie worstieism is something that can be sooo personal <3
also i think this can be seen as a sister piece to this
-
Having a study period in the library usually worked in Evie's favor. It gave her time to get ahead on her homework, and sketch out possible art pieces. (And play Candy Crush on her phone.) Most importantly, it gave her a chance to terrorize Ricky when his English class had their weekly visit.
Standing over where he sat against a stack of non fiction books, she asked, "When are you going to stop moping and talk to Achilles again?"
Ricky looked up from the book he was reading and frowned immediately. Evie almost smiled at the comical switch in his mood. It was nice to know that he disliked her as much as she disliked him.
"Don't look so excited to me, Bowen," she grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest."I'm trying to help you here."
He turned back to his book. "I'm trying to learn about food scarcity during the World War here, so if you could stop bothering me that'd be nice."
She snorted. "We both know you're watching Achilles and Auggie like a creep."
The two of them were curled together at a table, whispering conspiratorially about something. Evie could see Auggie's golden hand resting on Achilles jean covered knee under the table. It felt weird - wrong even.
Which was a bit unfair, really. She liked Auggie. He was funny, and goofy, and he always shared his snacks with her in their AP Physics class. But he wasn't Achilles' person, and they all knew that. Even he probably knew that.
Ricky followed her gaze, eyes scanning Achilles' giggling face and the pleased color of Auggie's smile. His eyes shone with hurt, and he bit the inside of his cheek, forcing his gaze back to his book. "I'm not watching them. I'm reading. Whatever they do is not my business."
Evie scoffed. She hated that he was trying to be mature. He should've been fighting harder. "You're acting like such a loser. You're Ricky Bowen, the most annoyingly persistent person in the world. You can't just let some pretty boy steal Achilles from you!"
"Are you.." He was surprised enough to close his book, giving her his full attention. "Are you trying to give me a pep talk?"
She rolled her eyes, squirming under his gaze. His stare was just like Achilles' - wide eyed and intense, entirely too open and easy to read. "Don't make it weird. I just think you shouldn't let Auggie sneak his hot boy fangs into Achilles' neck," - Achilles' was hyperfixated on vampires and it was starting to seep into her brain - "You two have something.. special, and you shouldn't just try to force yourself to move on."
Ricky frowned. "He doesn't want anything to do with me. And I shouldn't ruin whatever he has going on with Auggie. That's unfair to both of them."
"God, you're so - " She cut herself off with a groan. He was annoying. "Everyone else can see it but you. Achilles is so into you that it's a little unbearable at times. You're all he talks about. He had the biggest crush on you for months! No offense to Auggie, but he doesn't hold a candle to what Achilles feels for you." She kicked him in the knee, to offset the sort of fond look he was giving her. Freak. "So get off your ass and talk to him. Got it?"
She walked away as he groaned in pain over his knee, ignoring the way passion was making her chest feel like it was about to explode. Stupid Ricky Bowen, making her feel good things for him.
Same anon as before, it was really cute actually!! Like obviously he was a huge flirt but it was still cute lol. I cant remember the name of the ride he attended but it was one of the bigger ones where you would have to be strapped in and he would occasionally go over (to mostly just cute girls lol) to tug on the straps to make sure they were secured and he would teach you Russian words when he did it, like he would say something in Russian and be like "that means good, Ok?" A bunch of girls (including me) would purposely keep going on his ride over and over just to see him and he'd notice and say things like "do you remember the word I taught you?" And "can you say *Russian word*?" Theres a whole bunch of other stories of him flirting with all these girls but I can't remember all of them anymore, I just remember everyone crushing on him so hard lol and being really disappointed that he wasnt with the carnival anynore the year after.
The shy carnival boy you knew sounds so cute 🥺 i can just imagine this cute sad looking guy bobbing his head to the music lol. When I was younger I always thought the people working at carnivals were so cool because they got to travel and be around that fun atmosphere all the time, like I never thought of how hard it could be. Younger me definitely wanted to date a carnival guy so I could travel with them lol so if it was Dabi there would be no hesitation in me just upright leaving with him. Me now is a whole different story tho lol carnival Dabi would probably have to make me come with now.
Carnivals in general are super interesting to me too like going every year was a huge part of my childhood and I remember them so vividly. Its probably because I grew up in a super small town where nothing happened so it was like the one fun thing we got to do and looked forward to. I still love to go whenever I can for the nostalgia lol, so I'm super excited for you to write about it I feel like more fics need to be set at carnivals lol ❤
aw anon!!!!!!
i’m so in love with this!!! that sounds so flippin smooth, you know??? like sooo smooth, and almost charming in one of those flirty fuckboy type ways, if that makes sense! ehehe aaaah see the guy who’s behaviour reminds me of dabi was not smooth or sweet at all, and the tricks he played were cruel and purely for his own amusement >.>
yeah!! he always flits through my mind, every time the carnival is in town or every time i see that ride in particular. it usually blasts popular upbeat songs, and i find the attendants that run it are often very high energy and like to pump up the crowd etc but this guy was just so chill. hahaha that’s interesting!!! i find that when i was younger, i didn’t really think about how they were always travelling, i was always so interested in the why; why did they decide to join? how long have they been working for the carnival? what are their backstories?
omg me too!!!!! the local carnival that visits my tiny town has been coming for over 100 years and i, too, have so many cherished memories of going every year with my family and/or friends!!! there are certain shows that my dad would take me to watch every single year, and i remember coordinating with the boys we liked, like at which ride we would meet up and what time we’d be there (long before anyone had cell phones!), and always buying candy apples purely to lick the candy off of them and then throw them away (what a horrible waste!)
yes!!! i’ve already plotted the entire thing out (i’m hoping it’ll only be about 5k) and i began writing it but i’m back to focusing on tag ur it now. i plan to post the carnival piece after tag part two is done!! but i can’t wait to share it with you and i can’t wait to hear what you think of it!!! i’m already loving how it’s shaping up SO much hehehehe <333
"Rebel robin" easterggs
Tumblr media
- Robin's friend is a horror movie fan whos fav movie is evil dead (jonathan has a poster of it in his room)
- Robin's parent's car is the " dodge dart" a ref to Dustin's demodog-dart
-robin and her friends make analogies to zombies (like Will- the zombie boy).
- robin faints. And her friend milton says "blink once for yes twice for no". A ref to what Joyce said to Will in s1.
- robin's other friend has a little sister named el-ie who pretends to be a squirrel. A ref to el killing a squirrel in s2. This is also reminiscent of a scene from the st prequel novel ' suspicious minds' where young-kali pretended to be a tiger (the Hawkins school mascot) & a rabbit (Jonathan's hunting story).
- robin reminds me alot of the byers: she is into photography and rock like jonathan and even worked at the movie theatre like jonathan did in the og pilot. They both like David bowie and cook for their families. She also is poor and wears hand-me down clothes from relatives (like Will). She also is into existential philosophers. Which is also similar to jonathan who had a poster of the poet rimbaud in his room.
- robin is almost run over by a car by a bully while riding her bike: similar to Mike, Dustin, and Lucas in s2
- robin says the best accessory for a girl is her middle finger. Cue max giving the middle finger to billy in s2 XD
- robin (before Will dissapears) sees the quarry and gets uncomfortable and thinks of metaphorical monsters
- similar to how billy had baseball references (along with Will). Robin wears a baseball shirt
- her fav flavor of pie is cherry (like alexi and cherry slurpies). She also gets pissed at a guy sipping a cherry flavored drink- similar to hopper in s3 with alexi
- she cuts her hair and she describes it as looking like a lion. El and Will owned lion plushies in s1.
- robin refs Chicago (kali lives there) and NYC (hopper used to live there), and California (where max and billy used to live).
-tammy's fav song is total eclipse of the heart: the song Robin and Steve sang in s3. Tammy would often sing the song in robin and Steve's class.
- they make references to the hellfire club: she describes a time where she dresses like a cross between a nerd and a rebel. And a mom yells at her appearance saying she looks "goddless' . And another of Robin's friend (kate) is told ' what demon is possessing you, kate?" (hinting at the satanic panic). Meanwhile someone describes Mike and his friends as "hellions' as another hint to this. We also see how alot of parents got paranoid and a bit crazy when Will and barb dissappeared- prob foreshadowing the chaos that will happen if more kids dissappear in s4. Along with the satanic panic
-Robin is visiting her friend Kate at her house. Kate wanted to listen to Madonna together. Max and el listened to Madonna at el's.
- Robin's friend (kate) says "I dumped his ass" in reference to her cheating bf. A little nod to the m*leven breakup
- robin (like Will) felt excluded during the summer cause her friends kate and dash (Kate's now ex bf) were always making out . Sound familiar- cough m*leven
- robin annoyed says " makeouts, breakups and declarations of love all in the span of a week". Wow if that ain't a diss to certain pairing we know in s3 XD
- kate (like mike) says to Robin dating the opposite sex is a part of growing up . Which scares Robin (and Will in s3).
- robin has a nightmare of running down the school hallway with short hair (like el in s2 via the upsidedown)
- robin contemplates shaving her head (like el)
- robin says she likes to sometimes dress androgynous . And found a cool suit. Which we saw in s4 bts pics I assume.
- robin watches a music video where there are duplicate indianna joneses (could be a ref to all the billy duplicates in s3?)
- robin says " I stare at the ceiling. The ceiling stares back. I'm stuck and don't know what to do" a ref to the s3 song with robin called "the ceiling is beautiful"
- a character named Sheena reminds me a bit of Will or el . She is very quiet, queercoded, and is often bullied. And she finds mean notes and other things in her locker- placed there by bullies. A bit like how Will found the zombieboy note in his locker. But sheena can be another name for Jane so ...maybe foreshadowing of el/jane being bullied in highscool?
- when robin hears a hom*phobic comment on tv- she describes the anxiety like a ' thundercloud in a big open sky' and a "chill". Which reminds me of the mf being associated with clouds, thunder, and lightning. And the mf liking it cold.
- robin constantly describes the monster or shadow in her life- whether it be her talking about conformity or the problems of consumerism while she is poor (themes of s3).
- robin before realizing she was gay/crushing on tammy just says " I don't get crushes' which reminds me a bit of Will saying " I'm not going to fall in love" (as the lyrics are " love thats new to you, you open up the door')
-robin on her bike hears something (demogorgan) and runs back to her house , locks the door, and calls her friend- and the phone gets electrocuted. The next day Will is said to be missing. (Another Will paralllel).
- i was right about robin being in theatre. So we most likely will see robin in theatre in s4 (she also auditioned with a friend in the book). So for s4 my guess is she may be in the drama club with dustin- cause in s1 he had a drama shirt
- one of her friends is named milton. Since the documentary 'paradise lost' was on the s4 movie list. Its prob a ref to John milton who wrote the fictional 'paradise lost'. The character Sheena may be a ref to the 80s film/movies *where sheena (jane) was psychic
-Robin's gal pal (kate) and Robin eat m&ms and candies together. Kate jokes m&ms and candy bars are 'foods of the gods'. El ate m&ms in s3. They joke how talking about plural gods (instead of 1) would get them in trouble. In case you are unaware- kali (is the name of a Hindu goddess) and el (is the name of a cannanite god) .
-Robin also mentions hopper's car smells like eggos.
- robin tries running away (like el in s2, max in her novel, and jonathan also wrongfully assumed Will ranaway in s1 too).
-robin tries to get a job at Joyce's, than Bob's, and later gets a job where jonathan used to work
-bob newby describes the byers family as his "home" . Similar to how El describes the Hawkins gang as "home".
- robin says she was friends with barb before nancy. Suspiciously right after she says this- barb grabs Robin's hallpass that says ' glitch in the time space continuim. " the teacher who wrote this called robin a "glitch". Which makes me wonder if my did theory is right- but ...that certain powers at be may also alter memories or things so people assume said people have always been around.Mentioning it cause it seemed suspicious.
-not an eastegg but robin can't believe how nice Bob is. And Bob says the byers filled a hole in his life 😭 . She also felt an instant connection with Will and saw alot of herself in him.And asked if Joyce ever thought of moving like everyone suggested . One of the reasons Robin didn't like steve was because Steve never mentioned how Jonathan took innapropriate photos of Nancy. So everyone at school just knew jonathan as the quiet kid who takes pictures. So to everyone it just seemed like- wow you're bullying the quiet kid who's brother is missing and take away the one thing still left in his life that makes him happy. Which is why everyone assumes jonathan beat up steve later. Interesting to know how general Hawkins (not in the loop) viewed things
- the book referenced alot of previously mentioned movies on the s4 list or from prior duffer interviews...along with a few NEW movies ,books, plays, singers, and songs that I have to analyze for another day ...
