OOC: //Long time no see guys! This blog’s been pretty dead for a variety of reasons. I’m back in school for one, so that’s a brain toll, but I also got a new non-DC hyperfixation so my brain’s been full of other stuff. The ask box also is dead as always so I haven’t been able to think of anything to post 😔

I’m not really sure what to do with this blog? I don’t want to delete it of course but I’m also not sure what to post for y’all? ArchitectMeta: After days of research and prep and clearing out my schedule, I'm back and ready to traverse through Gotham('s rooftops) in search of the prettiest buildings and the best gargly bois. Wish me and my camera the best of luck!

G: Oooo good luck dude!! If u get any good pics or find any good vibing spots let us know. I love Gotham’s history and buildings so it’s awesome to see someone taking such an interest in it. Hope you have/had fun (depending on when u went out we’re getting to this Q a lil late oof).

W: let us know what your favorite gargoyle is bro, we can compare notes. There’s one on one of the buildings on 32nd (memory bad I’m sorry) that has some rlly well sculpted wings. Haven’t seen it in awhile but they’re rlly good for grilling if you need to climb. Good luck!

Do you guys celebrate a Batman Day? 🦇

We do! It’s not until March though, on the anniversary of the first Batman sighting. Some merch shops do have a fall thing pre-Halloween where they pump up the bat merch, kind of a weird corporate holiday. That one doesn’t really have a name though.

ArchitectMeta: I went back to Gotham and walked around matching as many gargoyles as possible to their names on the official name site. There are SOOO many, my inner goth is squeeing. Also, I am very tempted to find a way up to a rooftop or something to take better pictures of the roofs and windows (and gargly boys). Pls discourage me from potentially committing illegal trespassing (or pls suggest ways from me to sneak up there, ur choice).

G: First, I’m glad you had fun! The gargoyle hunt is one of the best ways to get to know/see Gotham and it’s architecture, so I’m glad you had a good time with it. Secondly... it’s rlly not that hard to get into the roofs here if u just looks round a bit 👀

W: Yea yea, there’s definitely NOT an organized list of easy and safe access spots on the Batwatch site, and you can definitely NOT use that list to get on top of almost any building in Gotham. This is also NOT from firsthand experience, so I will also NOT tell you that if you’re staying at a hotel or friend’s house in an apartment style thing, going out most windows will work as well :-)

You’re all so sweet and kind and I’ve some how been able to avoid any drama on this blog in the year-ish that it’s been around, which is kind of surprising actually. This is the anon from Crime Alley again, I get that Bruce Wayne and, by extension Batman as his beneficiary, do give back to Gotham’s infrastructure, but in my opinion if there’s still a hard “b” on Wayne’s -illionaire status instead of an “m”, he’s not giving enough. There’s no excuse for just having a billion dollars, whether you’re a nice guy helping the local vigilantes or not. Wayne is one of the better ones, but there’s no such thing as a good billionaire.

I’m now 90% sure Black Bat II is a teenage robot, in seriousness his suit sounds sick though.

G: Oooo, that sounds cool. I don’t think we’ve had a robot Bat yet, but also I have no idea. Whether he’s a robot or not I’d love to get a good look at his suit bc the tech sounds fascinating.

W: Beep boop boy. If he is a robot that begs the question of where he came from. Was the wormhole from another universe? Another time? Another planet? A mix of all of those or something else entirely?? Like where is he from man! The more I learn the more I want to know.

His suit was sooo cool!!! It looked so smooth! I couldn't see seems or anything on it, and it didn't feel like cloth. It was almost metal or plastic, like computer parts? Idk. Anyway he was a super cool dude. I guess it was a slow night because he stopped and we chatted for a bit. I know Robin usually has quips, but this guy was on a whole other level. He also said "shway" so I guess that's catching on! I'm gonna start saying it too!!

Hey idk if you guys still rmb me, but I'm the architecture meta who asked about metas in gotham. I just wanna update you that I finally got off my butt and went to visit Gotham. I absolutely love the gothic architecture you have there, and the very many gargolyes all over the place. I just spent my entire day walking around randomly and taking photos everywhere. The aesthetic of this entire city just appeals to me. I'm definitely going back there again.

I don’t know who Batman is but I do know one thing: guy’s gotta be rich, or upper crust suburban. No blue collar Gothamite could beat on the lackeys as hard as he does, my uncle said he even gives them shit for being part of it all. Maybe it’s the Crime Alley in me, but I don’t see him as all that heroic, he’s just the guy that beats up our dads every now and then. Better off giving money to the city to break the cycle than beating the victims born into it, unless he gets a sick kick out of it.

Hey anon! I totally get where you’re coming from in some ways, but I think it might help you to look into stuff a bit more. Being a big batfam fan I hear a lot of people arguing that the family is just as bad as the cops, that they’re corrupt and violent and target people (and a lot of that it hurled at Batman since he’s at the forefront of it all). But this is like... pretty inaccurate!

It’s a long rabbit hole in general, a lot that I can’t get into here, but for some quick resources I’d check out this post G made about the history and impact of the vigilantes on Gotham, as well as the various resources through Wayne Enterprises that provide free jobs/rehabilitation/protection for people who want to try getting out of the henchperson life. WE also has specific and discreet healthcare for people involved in crime support jobs, and they are actually partnered with the Bats, in all this.

I don’t have a lot more to say, but I hope your uncle is able to find safer work, and I hope the other people you know are able to find safer work. That being said, I also personally believe that if Batman is beating up people it’s because they were in a place where they were either helping someone/something that was going to cause harm to others, or they were going to directly cause harm to others. I know ppl don’t always have a choice, but I hope the WE recourses help.
