SO. i'm making a fic. timkon. cries.

there's sooooo much discourse everywhere about tim's characterization, and from what i've gathered, his fanon and canon interpretations are incredibly polarizing to fans. i'd love to grab ur guys' hcs for the fics i'm writing, since i want them to be appreciated by as wide of an audience as i can T^T here are some of mine !!

tim struggles with insomnia. fluctuates from mild and severe, but certainly isn't helped by his occasional caffeine intake.

he is NOT addicted to caffeine- but indulges in it sometimes when there's a case that's particularly tough to crack. not an addiction though.

i do see him as a recovering nicotine consumer. it used to help him cope with the sting of loneliness. doesn't anymore, as the looming threat of lung problems would probably throw a wrench into his vigilantism.

alcohol he consumes when needed for socialization, but otherwise stays off. he says it dulls his intellect. not a very big fan.

is smug menace, and is mostly unapologetic about it. he's the type to live by FAFO.

looks eerily similar to cassandra; build, height, and mannerisms wise. he's obviously less stealthy, but is still comparable.

while i am a very big fan of the "jason is bruce's carbon copy" headcannon i also like to think that he looks a Lot like grayson too- and it trips people up sometimes.

a sleep deprived bat could stumble into the kitchen and find a very broad, muscular back turned to them while making coffee (in the middle of the night) and they'll call out to them, only to be confused.

tim, delirious: mmh .. oh hey bruc-

muscular figure, turning around: ?

tim: *windows crash sound*

tim, convinced he's hallucinating: dickie?

i was just ranting about this to my partner last night ! as much as i love superbat and want them to have a happy ending, i would love to see a fic that explores hurt no comfort when superman discovers just how messed up bruce operates. it's not fair to clark to have him be so accepting of someone with profound boundary issues, stunted communication, and other such skeletons in his closet.

give me an emotionally stunted bruce that gets pushed to be better- challenge him !! i may be an avid batman fan but it sucks sometimes to have almost every fic neglect developing bruce's character and keeping him as the constipated idiot that he is. at least have him put in an effort to change, recognize that the shit he pulls is Not Okay, and decide to change for the better. for clark.

I have found the common writing issue with the fake/pretend dating troupe in SuperBat. Its the same pattern for almost every story in that tag - Clark falling for Bruce, them having sex, Bruce being an emotionally immature repressed idiot, fake breaking up with Clark in the most hurtful way possible, Clark being heartbroken about it and then finally revealing his feelings and convincing Bruce that they should go for the real deal.

It drives me crazy.

Bruce never apologizes, never has to work for it, most of the time never even directly confesses his own feelings. He just kisses Clark back or something. See, I realise that Batman is edgy and repressed as shit and Bruce Wayne is bad at communication, but this is too damned much. No one with even an ounce of self-respect would continue to pursue a man even after that. Give me Superman in the superbat dynamic who isnt a fucking doormat. Ughhh. I just need a fic where their relationship is two-sided, and Bruce puts in a damn effort, at least for once.

now i can't help but think that clark assumes that bruce's heartbeat is just naturally that fast bcs whenever they come into contact, bruce's heartbeat is always slightly elevated ... sometimes it picks up more than normal but clark always chalks it up as bats just being frustrated by his presence ,,,

he doesn't know that its bcs brucie has a crush on him and thinks hes cute 👍

The best trope for superbat for me is Bruce falls first and Clark falls hardest, and add slow burn to the mix and it's DELICIOUS

Bruce who's did in fact falls first but didn't say anything and overtime get used to the feeling of butterflies in his stomach so now he just accepts it and didn't act on it at all. Vs Clark who one day slowly putting pieces of puzzle together in his head and fall head first to the crush zone and he falls HARD, HOW CAN HE BE NORMAL NOW??

i feel like bruce would probably sob when he watches mamma mia for the first time and slipping through my fingers starts playing,, he has a visceral reaction as memories of his kids as young children start flashing through his mind and before he knows it- boom he's crying.

he probably watched it for no particular reason too, probably because he had nothing pressing to attend to that night and just decided to put on a movie to make use of the manor's theater room. bruce didn't particularly care for the first half of the plot. it wasn't anything remarkable to him, really; but he doesn't miss the part where donna makes a remark about not wanting sophie to leave the nest quite yet. a hum rumbles in his chest in agreement, but he otherwise tunes the rest of the scenes out.

it wasn't until sophie asks donna to help her get ready that the movie finally manages to grip him, and the lyrics hit him like a truck. he's heard that goddamn song a few times already, but simply listening to the track versus watching donna sing it while helping her daughter get ready for her wedding is a vastly different experience. the movie is put on pause for a good while as bruce tries to collect himself.

his babies are all grown up now, really. dick and jason are far from the little boys he used to know- the ones that were so full of light and joy and whose smiles lit his chest with such warmth. now they're doing their own things, hardened by life and strong with purpose; bruce aches for a chance to hold them in his arms again. he wonders if they would let him.

then he realizes he's never really been able to hold tim like that before. there is a pang of regret that lingers, and bruce again wonders if it's now too late to ask.

bruce thinks about duke, and his brow furrows in worry. he hopes duke knows how much he cares for him, and fervently prays to whatever god there is up there in the heavens that his situation doesn't force him to grow up as fast as bruce himself was made to back then. bruce knows the feeling all too well, and he won't let his son go through the same thing he did.

and damian.. god, damian.

his youngest is still so young, and yet he's already gone through so much. bruce resents how little he was involved in dami's upbringing, and how he missed out on so many moments that he wishes he was there for. he has to remind himself that he's here now, and that's ultimately what matters. still, he can't help himself from wanting time to slow down somehow, as his son is growing up more and more as the days go by, and as much as he is so proud of who his littlest is growing up to be, he knows that there's so much ahead of them. so much more pain. so much more happiness, perhaps.

his girls don't all see him as their dad, but he views them all the same anyways. he wonders if in the future, they'll ask him to walk them down the aisle as well, just like in the movie- even if he'll probably end up shedding a few tears in secret.

bruce does not tell them any of this though. no, this he keeps to himself, as he does with a lot of things. but he pays closer attention now, watches them all closer than before. he allows himself to smile at them more often, eyes fonder. if any of them notice they keep it to themselves, and bruce is thankful for that.

one of my favorite tropes in superbat fanfics is when they're pre-identity reveal and somehow neither of them are able to figure out who the other is under the cape despite being in close proximity with each other pretty often as bruce wayne and clark kent.

there's just something about how both of them are so smart individually but when they're put together it's like their shared braincell short circuits, almost. it's so cute and i eat it up every single time no matter how 1) frustrating it is sometimes, and 2) how they Should be able to figure it out pretty easily given their skillsets but they just . don't

I think one of the major appeals for Superbat is that it'd be a huge W for Dick Grayson and a CRUSHING L for Lex Luthor
