Jason’s real tragedy (well, one of them) is that he could never escape classism.
He was a lovely child, who did the best with what he had, and yet Alfred and Bruce always talked about his “darkness”, his sketchy background.
His righteous anger was painted as uncontrollable rage. Bruce turning him into a soldier, which ultimately got him killed, is still painted like it was an act of kindness and mercy.
And even if we consider Willis to be abusive (which was only ever a thing in RHATO, a comic run notorious for having awful writing), it doesn’t change the fact that SO WAS BRUCE.
The idea that Willis is abusive and Bruce is a good father is ignorance at best and outright classism at worst and people need to inspect their biases as to why the poor man who turned to crime to support his family can’t escape one bad writer but the rich man who consistently harms Jason is praised as “saving him from a life of crime” despite the fact we know Jason wouldn’t have turned to crime without Bruce
But y’all aren’t ready for that conversation

I love fanon, because then we get things like:
fanon Janet: I WILL make you eat toothpicks through a straw if you ever make that suggestion again, Travis.
Canon Janet: Thus apple moved half a centimeter to the left after being placed on a flat surface... The only solution? My Mother's ghost.
Not joking, btw. Janet Drake believed in some wild s#-3$ and I feel like it's so depressing that she was probably a conspiracy theory with blonde hair, and Bernard is... Yeah. Yeah. Think on that.
Tumblr media
"She was always a believer in the world we couldn't see, so she believes me now."
Can we just... "Yeah, in my reality you and Dad are dead and I'm a superhero now." And she just... She asks if he has someone taking care of him. That's all she cares about. She believes every word and asks if he has someone still there for him.
JANET DRAKE YOU WOULD'VE LOVED BERNARD DOWD ToT

Lmaoo the “pen pal” part also fits perfectly with how Wally knows Dick’s identify. Like Bruce says that and Wally is standing there awkwardly, and Barry looks a bit pitying even, and Dick TRIED, he really did, but he just lost it.
The set up, the joke, the fact that he KNOWS that these are the Flash and Kid Flash.
Barry and Wally find out Batman’s identity before anyone else. Barry isn’t able to keep a straight face while talking to Batman for weeks afterwards. Bruce has never been more sure in his decision to keep his identity secret as he was after that incident.
Au where Batman doesn't want to tell the Justice League his secret identity but it's because he's really embarrassed about the things he's done as Bruce Wayne.
The thing is; Batman has spent years crafting and perfecting his public persona.
'Brucie Wayne' is supposed to be a dumber than life himbo, with daddy's credit card and the maturity of a seventeen year old. He's supposed to be someone so outlandishly ridiculous no one would ever even dare to mention him in the same sentence as Batman... And Batman has been acting that part perfectly.
It's a genius plan.
But then the league begins talking about maybe all sharing their secret identities, to become closer as a group and work better together. And the only thing in Batman's mind is 'Oh. My. God. Please don't'
Superman is saying something about trust and how he has come to value all of them as friends. Batman is thinking about last year Christmas' Gala, where he took off his clothes in an improvised strip-tease, and started swimming in the fountain.
Wonder woman is talking about how she wishes to strengthen their bonds so they become greater warriors. Bruce just remembered there's videos of him fucking twerking and pole dancing to Ariana Grande all over the internet.
Flash starts smiling and telling them he already trust them with his life– Bruce once said chocolate milk came from brown cows.
'Oh. My. God'.
There's just no way he's telling any of them.

Cassandra Cain isn’t passive when it comes to interpersonal relationships. Yeah, she doesn’t talk much but the whole “no one argues with Cass she’s too nice” thing is total BS. She’s literally the first person to throw hands at any given moment
Cass and Steph are considered the most brutal of the Batfam. Yes, Steph too
The whole Red Hood And The Outlaws thing (with Roy and Kori) completely disregards the fact that he’s their friend’s little brother and at least 5ish years younger than them
Tim and Dick have been on good terms after the whole “Batman got lost in the time stream” run. Yeah things weren’t perfect but to pretend they suddenly stopped loving and trusting each other is crazy
Before deciding she should be Dick’s girlfriend, Barbara Gordon was not only way older than him, but was working as a congresswoman
Tim Drake isn’t a poor helpless baby. Not even during Red Hood’s attack on the Titans Tower. Give him more credit than that
Superman is really fucking smart. So is Lois, so is Lex Luther, and SO ARE THEIR KIDS!!!
Dick Grayson joined the police BECAUSE it’s corrupt, and it was the best way he could fight the corruption. He’s not pro-police
Alfred left his daughter in England to work for the Waynes, and she resents him for that
Stephanie Brown was pregnant at age 15 and gave the baby up for adoption
Donna Troy married Terry long when she was 19 and he was 19 and a divorced father. Terry decided she’s too dangerous to be around their son, divorced her, took custody and got a restraining order against her. They were later killed in a car crash as some sort of a power move when writers changed.
Jason Todd was a pimp and a druglord
Absolute Batman was born in 2004
Hey guys just a daily reminder as a DC fan:
Hal Jordan wasn't intentionally written to get with that alien girl and the guy who changed it to that got arrested for, say it with me now, being a diddler. We hate him not Hal.
Grant Morrison has admitted regret for retconning Talia as a rapist and it can be argued it's not canon but if it's not...
You don't have to accept every canon, the writers sometimes don't.
Zatanna is canon closer to Bruce's age.
Roy and Oliver have made amends.
Batman is canonically Jewish on his mother's side.
Talia and Ra's are Arab and Chinese and have brown skin.
Jason Todd wasn't the angry Robin.
Bruce Wayne and Jason did have a good relationship and there wasn't something that secretly matter with him.
Jason was NEVER mad at Bruce for not saving him. Just for the Joker still living.
The bastards who voted for Jason to die are still living.
Jason actually does forgive and forgave two face for killing his dad.
James Gunn is handsome... That's mostly for me.
Anything you want to add comment or reblog!

Dick is probably so much angrier after that cause “I’m mad and this fucker now makes me laugh-?”
when Bruce and teenage!Dick used to get into arguments & Dick would storm off to his room you cant tell me Bruce didnt 100% say "have fun in your Fortress Of Solitude" every fucking time.

remember when deathstroke kidnapped damian and put him in a tank slowly filling with water and damian spent the entire time being like “your kids hate you and you’re bad at your job and you’re a fucking boomer” before finishing it off with “come in here and slash my neck then i can be your kid too”. fucking GOT his ass.

Also let’s not ignore the fact that the Batfamily is literally a bunch of billionaires??
Like no offense but I’d trust a cop over a billionaire lol
dick is only the best robin in canons where he wasnt a cop, acab no exceptions
Dick is THE best Robin even when he is a cop. Infiltrating a profession to pinpoint and kick out bad apples while supporting and backing the few good apples in a bid to increase the good apples and chuck out bad apples is badass. Especially as Dick's entire run as cop had him identifying the rotten cops or being framed by those rotten cops for Dick daring to cleanse the system. If DC fandom needs a cop to desperately hate on, go pick on Jim "a career cop who was the only good cop in Gotham but made Commissioner" Gordon. For real though, if Gotham coppery is so bad HOW has Gordon remained Commish for DECADES?
I don't care for discourse that doesn't offer solutions. Dick tried to REFORM. Good people staying out of corrupt systems allows corruption to fester and foster - case in point, Gotham. Case in point, Gotham and Bludhaven in Batman Forever where Gotham remains dingy and vile and Bludhaven is BETTER.

YES!! The WHOLE point of Bruce and Clark’s relationship is that Bruce knows Clark would fold him in a second. He’s under no illusion that he stands a chance EVEN with kryptonite.
But he believes in Clark and trusts him to do the right thing. Bruce Wayne, a man moved by his paranoia, looks at this man who will destroy the planet in minutes if he so wished, and trusts him anyway.
And Clark knows that too. Which is why he gave Bruce the kryptonite. He, too, wants to pretend sometimes that he’s normal (the “everything is made of cardboard” line for the JL animated series is peak)
They love each other so much and the power imbalance is one of the best ways it’s demonstrated.
DC Pet Peeve is when Batfanon people act like Bats are capable of keeping up with Supers. They always attribute this to Bats being smarter than Supers, and therefore make it seem like Supers are dumb as rocks. Jon learnt chess and mastered it enough to beat Lex Luthor in 7 seconds. He can perform micro-surgeries inside a person's brain mid-air. Clark, Paige and Kara are older, wiser, and have more experience. Kryptonite would weaken them but depending on the amount, they can recover from green kryptonite and they aren't useless without their powers either.
In their peak form, a Bat is nothing but a flimsy tissue paper to them. I don't think you are really sitting down and thinking about what it means to be faster than sound, to have the strength to move planets, breath glaciers and shoot the fire of the sun out of their eyes.
And even among the non-kryptonians, you've got the Steels who are geniuses on par with Lex and Bruce. Their tech is highly advanced and JH is from a military background and combats regularly with threats like freaking Mongul and Darkseid. A bat's gonna not look all that great coming out of a fight with the Steels.
The best a Bat can do is survive a Super. In canon, every time a Super is going all out, the ENTIRE Justice League has to come together to contain them with multiple losses. And that's usually just for one kryptonian Super (typically Clark). You're telling me Bruce, Tim, Dick or Damian ALONE can keep up with that???? PLEASE

"dick grayson is a good brother who has a positive relationship with younger heroes and sidekicks," I say into the mic.
the crowd boos. I begin to walk off in shame, when a voice speaks and commands silence from the room.
"she's right," they say. I look for the owner of the voice. there in the 5th row stands: timothy jackson drake wayne himself.

SOO TRUE. Everything is just swept under the rug with him, which is not only fucked up towards Dick, Tim and even Damian, but frankly erases Jason as a character.
He never apologized for SHIT, and frankly the only reason Dick and Bruce tried to bring him back into the fold is due to their awful guilt complexes, and is unfair both to themselves and to Tim and Damian.
Is it too much to ask for an actual redemption arc? Even one as simple as the Batfam discussing all that went down and acknowledging the hurt each causes and apologize??
'i hate that jason todd isnt there much in batfamily fics and that he deserves to not be sidelined in batfam stuff and yall are horrible for not doing so and i hate it'
WELL I personally think that jason todd isn't sidelined ENOUGH. like lets be real right now. canon jason todd has done a lot of bullshit to the batfam as red hood, and the fact that the so much of the fandom is completely chill with knowing the existence of this and still saying it's okay is just straight up disturbing.
i personally think we don't actually have enough tim and dick content without jason butting in every single time as this perfect brother he was literally never in canon. Let's be fr rn bc jason todd needs to make up for a lot of shit before the batfam would be comfortable with him, actually trust him, because he's done a lot of shit.
go have your fun with fanon jason, but don't claim that it's actually canon jason you're talking about. fanon jason who's actually done nothing wrong can be chill in life (and by actually done nothing wrong i mean actually done nothing and not that his actions were just swept away as small little things) but canon jason?
and to say that fanfics and canon should have jason and dick being a dynamic and closeness like dick and damian is wild lmaoo. like damian has not done half the utter bullshit jason has done to dick and people dick cares about, and like despite previous comics having dick almost adopt jason, taking their current canon characters and taking in their ages that's um.... not good? like the fandom parentifying dick with damian is a popular trope, and given that dick did almost adopt damian okayyy but like, the only time dick actually almost adopted jason was when they had a proper age difference.
like saying that dick should've had that parent child dynamic when jason was robin and even after is wild, bc in comic canon at this point dick is like, max four to five years older. and wanting him to be a parental figure to jason is such sad parentifying like what the hell? dick grayson does not need to be parentified, and especially not to red hood.
So, I'm just gonna end this with saying that jason todd has way too much attention in batfam fics as this saintly character (as much as a murderer can be a saint in a fandom that is completely okay with killing people) that loves his brothers, would never harm them and is extremely gentle and also actually cares for their well being and general autonomy and comes up with good decisions that when contested always prove he's right.
Like some of you guys are like jason should go back to being a villain and then turn around and write him as the best guy ever. Bro.

(4+1) 4 times Grayson has almost died and one time he actually did🗣️
This looked cooler in my head ngl, and you can tell I lost motivation time to time.
All of these moments are canon but slightly made more dramatic:
Forever evil #1
Nightwing (2016) #40
Grayson #5
Nightwing (2016) #25
Forever evil #6

In the next panel, Dick agrees with that statement. So, it is official, the girls of the batfam are the most dangerous out of them.
