I see so many posts of Palestinian art and the Palestinian flag get reblogged far more than the actual fundraisers and it has me concerned.

Please, artists of tumblr who want to support Palestine, help us with their gofundmes by linking them with your art. It would help spread them out so much more so they can be seen by possible donors. I have seen some artists do this, and it has been very effective. This is where art has power.

I know an awful lot of propals have me blocked, so I’m going to ask that while this post should be reblogged, if you know you have significant inroads in goyische Tumblr, copy/pasting or screenshotting this would be great, because we need all hands on fucking deck.

So for those who don’t know: we’ll start with “a whole bunch of articles on Jewish history and identity on Wikipedia have been vandalized, including but not limited to removing mentions of individuals being Jewish and referring to Jewish holidays as Palestinian holidays, and making Jewish holiday pages deliberately vague with such things as ‘it may mean’ or ‘it could represent’ as though real actual living Jews couldn’t tell you what it does or doesn’t mean.”

Next: the same thing started happening to articles about North American indigenous and First Nations people. When I say “the same thing,” I mean I actually contacted the person who brought this to my attention to be like “could these be linked? Because some of this verbiage sounds IDENTICAL.” And little surprise there, because guess what, at least two of the editors involved have been found across both sets of edits.

So at first I assumed this must be a group with some weird hate-on for indigenous groups.

BUT GUESS WHAT I FUCKING FOUND YESTERDAY.

I was on Marsha P. Johnson’s article doing some research for a Pride event, and someone has gone through the entire page replacing her pronouns with they/them.

Marsha used she/her pronouns. The Marsha P. Johnson Institute refers to her with she/her pronouns. Someone has decided that because she was gender nonconforming and called herself “a boy and a queen,” her pronouns should be what they feel are correct—not the ones she actually picked for herself.

They came for the Jews, they came for the North American indigenous groups, now they’re coming for the queers, WE NEED TO FUCKING TAKE WIKIPEDIA BACK.

I cannot encourage you strongly enough to become an editor. You don’t have to write entire articles (although you can). You can do cleanup, you can re-insert appropriate references, you can add sources. There are editing guides to help you and if you’re going “there are SO MANY ARTICLES, I don’t know where to start,” just hit the random article button and start fact-checking.

We cannot allow a group of five or six people to monopolize our identities and manipulate them as they see fit.

Survival in Gaza: Merely a Matter of Luck

What's it like living in Gaza during the current war?

As countless bombs fall down on Gaza every day indiscriminately killing every form of life, survival becomes merely a matter of luck. Wisdom and resourcefulness in normal places in the world can get you out of trouble, but they are useless in Gaza because luck is the only thing you need to stay alive. There is not a single precautionary action you can take to guarantee staying alive.

It is both sickening and terrifying that in the blink of an eye, a missile might be dropped at my house to wipe out my entire family leaving everyone torn to pieces or, best case scenario, suffocating under the rubble with a slim hope of being dug out by rescuers and neighbors.

As of today, more than 10,000 Gazans are resting and dissolving under the rubble of their bombed houses, and I shudder to think that my family could be added to the list at any second. With your help, I can get them to safety in Egypt.

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of reposting of artwork in the helluva boss fandom, idk if it’s people who are new to tumblr/the fandom but there’s one thing I want to make clear:

Reposting - the act of uploading a pic of someone’s art to make a new post - is NOT a good thing to do. Reblogging - I hope we all know what that is - IS a good thing.

IF you want to repost an artwork, because it’s only on Twitter/X or for other reasons, approach the original artist to ask for their permission. If you don’t receive permission, DON’T POST. If you do receive permission, CREDIT THEM WITH NAME AND/OR LINKS.

If you don’t know who the artist is, use reverse google images or saucenao.com to look for a source. Can’t find the original artist/source? DON’T POST THE ART.

A work of art posted without permission or credit is considered stealing, because others will believe YOU made it and therefore YOU will receive the credit, which is unfair. Artists put a lot of time and work into their pieces and deserve to be credited/respected. Putting “credit to the owner/creator” under the art is not enough; other users still won’t be able to find the actual creators and it’s no proof that the artist gave permission for their work to be posted elsewhere than their own blogs/accounts.

I know many people find pictures on Pinterest, but the artists often aren’t credited there either. Don’t upload these artworks if you don’t know who made it.
