American remains- Ghost Au lore post

I do have a eventual actual fic coming for this au so it won’t be as extensively written out here like for my vampire au, it helps that it’s also more canon aligned so there’s not too much extra world building involved.

World-

The world will be that of the canon world just with a tad more belief in ghosts/ they exist. I’d think it’d be easy to believe in legends and ghost when driving alone at night in a plains state anyway.

With that in mind it wouldn’t be uncommon to see a cowboys final ride or a soldiers last stand play out again and again. The people of Tulsa know it’s not just a building settling or the air conditioner.

It’s easy to believe if you open yourself to it, but you never expect your encounter to be with someone you knew. Ponyboy didn’t.

Ghosts-

All types of ghosts exist in this world, a lot of them being the more grounded ‘real life’ orbs and cold spots and simpler manifestations like that. There was moments that replay but aren’t a direct ghost more shadows of the past, buildings absorb negative energy and tragedy etc.

I want to focus more on direct apparitions as that’s what Johnny and Dally would be classified as, a bit of the standard fair when it comes to ghosts… sudden or violent death, stuck in this plane etc.

But with a twist, I really want this au to explore the cycles of grief and how it’s a non linear thing- and in this case affects the living and the dead. In the end no one moves on entirely…

It’s all about what makes a ghost or what makes a person stay, the cycles of grief and trauma, the weight people carry of a place and time or someone. The power of memory!

A huge inspiration for this au, beyond cowboy and civil war ghosts was the line towards the end of the book where Pony is thinking about boys who crumble under street lamps and jump at their own shadow and even himself— about how it’s too late for some but not others.

And it reminds me of American Remains by the Highwaymen and its chorus:

We are heroes of the homeland, American remains. We live in many faces and answer many names. We will not be forgotten, we won't be left behind. Our memories live on in mortal minds. And poets pens, we'll ride again.

How broader issues connect people in their struggle and how people get left behind over and over but are never forgotten- they come back. They’re simultaneously forgotten and immortalized - so many alike but also individual. Pony already wrote about them…

The thought that memory and pain bind. People die but ideas don’t.

It’s late and I really hope it’s understandable how this connects to ghosts and grief.

The au isn’t all deep subjects sometimes… it’s just neat spooky stuff.

Ghosts have a lot more agency when it comes to ‘moving on’ than traditional stories, it’s that they trap themselves. Or forget. At the end of the day ghosts are human- their cycles are too.

Unfinished business is less of a task and more of something they have to figure out- find acceptance/peace with.

Ghost lore-

A lot of haunting involves utilizing energy and radio frequencies to interact with the rest of the world. In the modern (1960s) age- radio and power lines are abundant. Ghosts prefer to be visible— with visibility comes personhood. It’s not constant, depending on energy and their connection it could be hard to keep it up.

Ghosts appear as they died, in most cases. Johnny tends to… flicker. Sometimes it’s a hospital gown, sometimes it’s jeans and a shirt but the burns remain. When haunting and not just wandering he’d prefer to be clothed.

[Included picture reference for Ponyboy as he’s the only of the living gang to undergo a more ‘drastic’ change. The others would just look a little older.]

Dally may constantly bleed but his blood will not stain anything, it disappears a few minutes after he does. What will stain is a residue left behind from ghost interacting with objects (fun non angsty lore)

To communicate with the living they’d have to manipulate radio, to those they speak with they’ll be a warm crackle to their voice as they speak through it … the voice always sounds distant too despite being right in front of you. (Sort of like making themselves a spirit box)

Johnny and Dally are both Semi-cognizant at the start of the au, both hyper aware of death and the passage of time but for them no time has passed. It is always then. Stuck in a place and time mentally and physically.

Out there on the sides of roads, out there in the dark waiting to be noticed and spoken to. Their main sort of “territory” is the roads and fields leading to windrixville, only sometimes making it fully back to Tulsa.

There’s been several times pony thought he saw them but it isn’t until they show up in the backseat of his car one late night drive it’s revealed. He’s driven by enough times, the ghosts get tired of waiting. Their first interaction is brief as pony nearly swerves off the road.

The two of them want desperately to reconnect with the gang, I’ve recently heard this but they “haunt for company.”

Don’t quite know where it’ll go yet but I’d love to hear ideas or see where others take it :)

Living-

Since this au is a tad more tied to canon these are also my general future headcanons, so if you see them in other works…

Ponyboy: 17. more of a troublemaker than he was as a young teen. He’s not doing anything too wild but will jack a car or two, gotten his grades back on track but is unsure where he wants to go with his life. Currently working at a grocery store to help out.

Soda: 19. started a career as a trucker, is around less than usual but still communicates with everyone via radio (Steve had begged for one to be put in at the DX) and phone calls when he gets the chance

Darry: 23. still working the same two jobs but is aiming towards a bookkeeping focus (pony is trying to push him that way) can understand Pony a little better, is more worried about Soda on the road at the moment. Better adjusted as he managed to keep them all together and Pony is set to graduate down the line.

Steve: 20. Graduated high school! Is still at the DX working on cars, he worked towards a managerial position and hopes to own a mechanic shop of his own someday or work up to a dealership. Had a radio installed at the station so he and pony can talk with Soda more often than waiting for phone calls, he gets along better with Pony.

Two-bit: 21. Ultimately got his GED! Like Pony he’s not sure what he is going to do with his life, is looking for a job (which Steve won’t let him live down)

Firstly, I see that you need to focus on one or two things at a time, you may have a tendency to overindulge when doing manifestation rituals, and that may make you. feel as though it’s a fantasy rather than a possibility.

I again see you need to focus on what you REALLY want, and ground yourself in that idea. Let go of this want for other things you don’t actually want and instead live life like you already have what you desire.

You may also need to focus on those who are around and let go of those who do not serve you anymore. There’s a big sign that you may not believe in manifestation and I assume that this is caused by what the people around you have to say about it, the only thing I can suggest is really trying your hardest to let go of any doubts, you can even take the time meditate prior to manifestation, or reprogram your subconscious mind if you feel like that will help you.

You need to do something which will raise your spirits and make you excited, you might even have a hard time focusing so for this I would recommend dancing while singing songs about what you want, you could even create a little rhyme to hum or sing during the day.

Firstly, I see for you that you need to let go of any disappointment you have, you really need to allow your doubts to flow away and throw yourself into this new beginning when it comes to manifestation. I see you’re trying to manifest all of your desires and all while that is great, you may need to pinpoint one or two things you want first (you may have been attracted to pile 1 because they had this message too.) I notice that money, soulmates/love are very prominent in your manifestation journey. Spirit is saying that you need to let go of your doubts when manifesting these things because you have the ability to manifest all you want. You excel best when you allow yourself to forget about what you are manifestations and just allow it to happen.

Be possessive and protective of your energy, I would recommend not telling others about your manifestations or desires as the people around you have the tendency of unintentionally, maybe even intentionally interlinking their energy with your own and stalling your manifestations.

Stop trying to manifest your ex back. It won’t work. I can’t lie, when I was channeling, one of my spirit guides literally said “get a job” so either they are telling you to focus on other important things rather than exes, or they are trying to tell you to use manifestation to get yourself a job. Focus on what you NEED and not want you want.

Hang out with friends and ignore rumours to keep your vibrations high.

I see you may need to focus on helping others, maybe even charity work would benefit you. You need to really focus on building relationships and figuring out what you want from them rather than what you think you want. Build your own empire, you don’t need to focus solely on love.

PILE 4

Charge straight into it, don’t overthink it. I see you’re mainly manifesting money, or spirit is saying that the most important thing is for you to manifest money. I see that you need to stop being fussy with what you want, you need to put your mind to one thing (all piles had this message lmao) and go your way at getting it. Preparation & Blending

To prepare your herbs to be blended into your loose incense you want to make sure they're 100% dried to ensure they don't grow mold and they burn well. You can dry your fresh herbs by hanging them upside down in a well ventilated room. Once the herbs are dried, use a mortar and pestle to grind dried herbs and resins into either a fine powder or coarse blend, depending on your preference. As you grind these herbs focus on what they do and how they contribute to your intention and blend them together. You may need to adjust the ratios depending on the strength of each ingredient, but you'll figure that out as you learn more.

Binding & Burning

Binding is an optional step when making loose incense, however, adding a small amount of powdered charcoal or gum arabic can help make your blend burn more evenly. When you're not actively burning your loose incense make sure to store it in an airtight container so it doesn't loose it's potency. There are multiple methods to burn loose incense, however, I like to create sigil shaped incense trails. There are multiple ways to make incense trails. One of such ways is to spoon the powder into a mold placed on a bed of ash, this method originates from China. The method I use includes pouring it out in the general shape of the sigil, then I pat it down with my fingers and fix any errors I may have made when compacting it. Once you've made your trail you simply light one end and let it burn.

Protection Blend - Used for cleansing your space and creating a protective barrier against negativity

Rosemary (Protection, Purification) - Potent protector, often used to clear negative energy and set boundaries.

Bay Leaves (Protection, Strength) - Used in this blend to amplify the shielding energy.

I saw you making snow angels!! Very happy, healing your inner child sort of a thing (I’ve never made a snow angel and I really really wanna). It also makes me think of leaving an impression, or a lasting imprint. Like you say something to someone and it really sticks with them, or you’ve done something that people always remember, even years down the line, they are like “Oh you remember [Name] did this amazing thing that time?” and you are fondly remembered.

It can be a really small act of kindness also that people remember, or you’ve helped someone and that memory is you know forever in their hearts kind of a thing.

Okay, so for your oracle cards we have,

Falling Leaves: Let go of the things that weigh heavily on you; you deserve to take up space.

Crow: Pay close attention to the winds; there’s a message making its way.

The first card again tells you to take up space, which is what you do essentially when you are making snow angels! (11:11 pm make a wish~) You take up space, you do your thing, and that is where you create your mark, your identity. It shows that you were there, you existed, you took up your space, you’ve marked it as your own.

I also think, because of the snow, that the winter season might be important for you.

Also, with the crow card, you might get an idea, an epiphany sort of a thing from someone else. Magical Intrusion | Chapter 1

Gale tries to create some magical relief for his lonely nights

Everything is in place. Gale turns the padded sleeve in his hands, tugging at the seams that close it off at about 7 inches, then turning it again to inspect the entrance, padded fuller to the point of stiffness. He delves two fingers in, pleased with the water repellent spell he had cast on the silk lining. Everything seems to be in order.

Now, the tricky part.

He had been tinkering with the set of spells for the past several tenday, to various degrees of success. But now, Gale feels that they're ready to be put to proper action.

A warming enchantment goes first, and works perfectly. A water creation spell now, with a few tweaks that makes the liquid more oiled and viscous. That goes well also.

Gale stops for a moment, heart hammering and mouth far too dry. This last charm is far more complex than the other two, and far more likely to go awry. He has to do this perfectly, elst the rest of his work will have been for naught. It had taken him nearly the whole trip to get the supplies he needed, and he doesn't know if he has the heart to start again if this goes wrong.

He takes a deep breath and places his hands over the makeshift sleeve as he begins reciting the enchantment. A blue light spreads in his finger tips and transfers to the material, casting a faint glow. He pictures in his mind a fantasy that he's harbored ever since he met you, leaving no lurid detail unthought. The grip of your cunt, the flutter of it, how it would feel and taste and smell. He channels all of his desire into the object, your name chanting in his head as he feels volatile energy start to crackle at his fingertips.

Gale?

Your voice cuts through his thoughts and at first he thinks he's manifested it, but then he feels the familiar prodding of another mind against his. The spell in his hands dies out instantly, afterimages of the blue light dancing in his now dark vision. He quickly shuts his mind to you, shooting back his own mental words.

Gale wipes a bead of perspiration from his forehead, trying not to let his panic consume him.

Oh gods, how embarrassing. With you being his camping neighbor, he should have been more cautious....He thinks quickly on how to rectify the situation.

My apologies. I was reading a rather engaging book...I suppose I may have muttered a few words out loud.

I figured as much. Just wanted to be sure.

He feels your presence slip from his mind, and only then does he allow himself to breathe--quietly, of course, so as you don't hear him struggling from your laying spot nearby.

The enchantment...he has no idea if it was a success or not, and he's not brave enough to light a candle and see if it did, rattled as he is.

With his heart still beating too fast for comfort, Gale takes the sleeve and tucks it securely into his pack before laying out on his bedroll.

He'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if his hard work has produced any fruit. At the very least, it'll give him a chance to set up camp a bit farther from the rest of his companions.

Gale has waited this long to try out his little contraption....waiting one day more will be easy.

Magic for the college witch

In honor of finding out I am set to graduate in December with my associates in science I have decided to celebrate with you all by sharing my tips and tricks I used to help pass some of my classes! Each tip will be sorted into circumstances as to where they may be applicable. Please enjoy, and congrats to all my future grads!

Reminder: In dorms and such you wont have access to many tools, but if your living in an apartment things are less strict. every time you see candles and such if you live in a dorm replace it with either electric candles or even colored stones you can rub together or place in a grid!

Registering for classes

Often times we try to register for classes as soon as possible, especially when you are an incoming freshman. When it comes to getting accepted and starting the process congrats your here.

Set up registering appointments on lucky number days, during the new moon, or on Mondays and Thursdays because those times represent readiness and preparation

Manifest getting good classes and teachers by sending off a prayer out to the universe

Do divination when registering opens to see if a teacher is a good fit or not (Also check out rate my professor)

If you are having trouble establishing classes, or just cant seem to get that *one* class you need, light a blue candle and put mint at the base of it to promote an opening

If your facing a situation where you are trying to get into an exclusive class (this also works if your presenting a thesis) put a sugar packet under your tongue to sweeten your words and make you more convincing

Getting to class on time

The commute anywhere can be a really hard thing to do, whether your commuting from a dorm to a classroom or city to campus it can be hard to be on time or find the motivation to show up to class

To motivate yourself to go to class keep a carnelian under your pillow to help you rise in the morning

Keep a consistent schedule, not only is this helpful psychologically but magically consistency helps build up magical energy towards motivation

enchant your walking shoes (or get heelies) to put pep in your step and always be on time when walking. You can optionally put a sigil in your shoe

enchant cars to avoid red lights by charging your keys in full moon light

Light a green candle before important days to make sure your morning commute runs smoothly

Setting up magical space in the dorms

Most dorms don't allow things like candles or flames, heaters, strip lights, etc. With this in mind people assume it must be hard to create a magical space without some of the key items, but we do have solutions!

Instead of regular candles, use electric ones as votives on deity altars

Instead of incense use MILD essential oil diffusers like lava stones in the corners, or a defuser. Bonus points if you use a dehumidifier

Chances are you wont have a lot of space, so opt for small placements on desks via mini figures and small stones

Set up sachets around your space and put them in clothing areas, not only do they smell good and keep moths away, they act as magical protection

Start working on energy based practices like meditation or enchantments with only your body

Navigating relationships

College can be a hard time, your adjusting to life without the friends you grew up with, most people start their dating life, and friends begin to come and go as you go through classes. Don't restrict what you experience

When you brush your teeth, enchant it to represent you 'speaking your truth' and 'biting back' so your protected from people who have bad intentions or are deceptive

When at parties and such put a sigil of protection on your left thigh, this represents protection from people looking to harm you

blow cinnamon at your door, or use a light cinnamon essential oil wash to invite new people and opportunities

Keep amber under your pillow or by photos to maintain friendships and help you let go of ones that no longer serve you

wear silver to repel energy vampires or people who are looking to use you

Studying success

Studying and how effective it is will depend on you and how you like to study, there are hundreds of posts online that look at how to find your study style, this more focuses on magic you can do for memory retention

Chew mint gum during studying AND during your test for memory recall

Draw sigils on your physical flash cards to make the information easier to retain

On the third of each month save that day to brush up on all information from the class, not only does this prep you for the final but this day is Athenas ritual day

Study the most on Wednesdays as they represent wisdom

Use a shungite worry stone during studying and testing to help keep your mind focused and stress free before tests

Test taking

Test taking can be a really hard part of college, I know it was for me. We do a lot of things to help prepare but what can we do during a test?

Create a sigil of good luck on top of your exam

Wear green on exam days

Eat and drink something enchanted (I swear by a snickers and a red bull) before a test for good luck

Create a superstition like a lucky shirt or pair of socks after your first good exam grade

Wear gold accessories to enhance your test taking skills, and speed up your test (Great when you are being timed)

Mental Health

Your mental health in college is very important, it can be hard being separated from your home town or family and just know that it does get better. College is a mix of emotions, from the loneliest point in your life, to the most social. You will be navigating new challenges, new feats, and its important to take care of yourself. Seek out the college mental health resources available to you like counseling as needed. you matter!

Use words of affirmations when you wake up and before you sleep to remind yourself you matter, my favorite is from the help "You is smart, you is kind, you is important"

Carry rose quartz and carnelian on you for self love and energy

Before bed drink lavander tea for rest and revitalization

Pray over your food to nourish your spirit as you go through college

Write down letters and petition to the universe for stability and how you feel.

for some of you i see that you may be struggling with your own thoughts a bit. the cards were being very sporadic and many of them were flying out at the same time. i think some of you might have a tendency to shut down when there’s a lot going on, like your beak. just kind of shuts off and it feels like a “no thoughts head empty” kind of vibe. spirit wants you to know that it’s perfectly fine for you to take time for yourself. focus on your mental health, and do what needs to be done for yourself before going to help someone else. you can never be the shoulder to someone until you can take care of your own well-being.

i also think that some of you have projects going on regarding your career. be very selective with who you give information to, as not everyone is your friend. sometimes it’s better to keep the information you have to yourself rather than telling others about it, because some people may not always have your best interest at heart. i see that this is something important to a lot of you, something that you’ve been manifesting for a long time. im hearing “dream come true”. these things were brought to you by the universe because you asked for it, waited patiently, and put in the effort to receive it, don’t let someone pretending to be your friend interfere with that.

on the same note of your work/career life, try not to overwork yourself! it’s great to love what you do, and it’s amazing to want to do it all the time, but make sure that you’re not pushing yourself past your limits. everyone has a breaking point, a moment in time where everything becomes too much and it takes a toll on you mentally, emotionally, physically, or spiritually. take time out of every day to check on your own health, and give yourself the love that you deserve!

A Deal With Death

This week has proven that the demon brothers are completely hopeless without MC. According to them, things started out okay, but then a couple of them got in a fight, resulting in a significant part of the House of Lamentation getting flooded and everyone having to sleep in the living room.

During their visits, MC makes sure I communicate their exasperation to them, and I can't say I blame them. I mean, I'd expect seven grown men to be able to take care of themselves, but apparently not.

Today's been quiet, though. Other than Barbatos occasionally poking his head in, no one's stopped by their room today. In order to pass the time, I've been telling MC stories about me and my older sister Candy. They're amused for the most part, so hopefully I'm helping them take their mind off their current predicament, even if it's only for a few moments.

Just when I finish recounting one of many traps that have backfired on me, someone softly knocks on the door.

"It's unlocked!" I holler. The door remains shut for about a minute before slowly opening, creaking as it reveals the one brother who has yet to visit MC.

"I have food," Lucifer murmurs, lifting up a to-go bag high enough for me to see. "I wasn't sure what the state of things were, so I brought enough for the three of us."

"I'm surprised your brothers haven't kept you updated," I reply as he walks over and sits in the chair on the other side of MC's bed. He shrugs.

"After the third day, I told them to not tell me anything unless Zephyr woke up." He reaches in the bag and hands me a plastic container and utensils. I'm pleasantly surprised to find it contains stewed zombie dragon liver. It's a fairly popular dish in reaper cuisine.

"I figured you'd like that better than the demon food you've been forced to eat during your stay here," Lucifer explains softly. "I myself am still getting used to it." I take a bite. It's not the best I've ever had, but it's pretty decent. The fact that someone went out of their way to get something I might like is the important thing.

Lucifer pulls out his plastic container and sets the bag off to the side. After a few minutes of silent eating, he states,

"You must think I'm a horrible person." Thankfully, I've swallowed my food before he said that, because I would have choked otherwise.

"No, of course not! Whatever gave you that idea?"

"The fact that I didn't stop through earlier."

"From what I've heard, you've had your hands full." Lucifer sighs.

"That's an understatement."

"So, give yourself a break. I seriously doubt Zephyr's the type of person to give you grief for not showing up sooner."

Exactly. Quit beating yourself up.

His eyes widen as he looks over at MC. Is he able to hear them?

I know you're stressed. This is a very scary situation, and you've had to remain strong for your brothers. Solomon and Barbatos have been working really hard to figure out a way to wake me up, so hopefully we don't have to deal with this much longer.

Lucifer turns away so that I don't see his face, but I still catch him rubbing his eyes.

I'm a little surprised it's taken this long for their mental connection to manifest itself. Then again, MC may have blocked it on purpose in order to avoid suspicion. I know I didn't believe them when they first told me that they were Lucifer's heir to the Ring of Light. It's only after extensive research that I accepted it to be true. For one, there's no one in the Devildom good enough to create a perfect counterfeit of that, and the ring MC gave to me for safekeeping fits every description of it to a tee. And then there's the fact that it glows whenever they expend a lot of magical energy. There's only a handful of rings that link themselves to people that way, the Ring of Light being one of them.

"You okay?" I ask him once he faces me again.

"I'll be fine. I just have a lot on my mind at the moment." He momentarily resumes eating, but just as quickly he stops, staring directly at me.

"Can you keep a secret?"

"Of course. That's part of my job." I've learned long ago to not question people when they request my services, especially if they're in positions of power. "Do we need to step outside?" Lucifer glances over at MC, appearing deep in thought.

"That won't be necessary. Some of it relates to Zephyr, so it wouldn't be right of me to exclude them."

Your secret is safe with me.

He softly smiles, emphasizing just how tired he is. He probably hasn't gotten much sleep, poor thing. I'll have to make him some of my special tea when we're done here.

"It has to do with my sister. I gave up my freedom to ensure that she could live a full human life. It was either that or permanent death, and I love her too much to have her die unnecessarily." He takes off one of his gloves, revealing Diavolo's mark boldly seared on the top of his hand.

"Does it hurt?"

"Sometimes. He hasn't used its power a whole lot. Only to get me to relax when I'm overly agitated, and only after he's exhausted all other options." Interesting. I know plenty of demons that would abuse that kind of power. Then again, the prince hasn't exactly played by those rules, has he?

"But that's neither here nor there," he continues, putting the glove back on. "Initially, I thought that all of Lilith's soul went into her human body, but it appears as though it's split in half."

"That can happen," I tell him. "Magic has a tendency to separate from the soul when it transfers from one body to the next. Sometimes that magic ends up in an object, but most of the time it just kinda floats, waiting for the most compatible soul to latch itself onto."

"Does it have to be a fresh soul?"

"Not necessarily, although that's the most common method of transference."

"Does the soul also have to be floating in the air, or can it be inside someone?"

"There have been times when magical energy enters the soul while it's in a body, but that's very rare."

"But not impossible."

"No, not impossible." Where is he going with this?

"This might seem far-fetched, and maybe my grief is making me see things that aren't really there, but I feel like part of Lilith's soul has made its way inside Zephyr."

Shit, shit, shit. How the fuck am I suppose to dig my way out of this? Solomon told me that Barbatos, Diavolo, and I are the only ones that are allowed to know MC's full backstory. If Lucifer found out the truth...

"Merely asking out of curiosity, what makes you say that?"

"Have you ever seen a demon produce white energy?"

"Well, no, but--"

"And then there's the time where I glanced at Zephyr's face, and they looked exactly like her."

The energy is left over from my days as a human. That was one of the only things the organization couldn't change. I'd have ended up dead otherwise. As for your sister, it probably is your mind playing tricks on you. Grief can be rather cruel sometimes.

Damn. Solomon's never been able to lie that well. I'm not surprised that Lucifer buys it. If I didn't know better, I would have as well.

"You know, one of the last things she ever told me was that someday I'd meet someone that I loved so deeply that I'd be willing to throw everything away for them, and then I'd finally understand how she felt," Lucifer recalls. "At the time, I dismissed it as immature angst, but now I think she was actually telling my future." He takes MC's hand and wraps it with both of his.

"The truth is, I miss you, Zephyr. It's lonely without you around. Please, wake up." Suddenly, MC's surrounded by a bright, white light that forces me to close my eyes. Even then, I can still see it. It lasts slightly longer than a flash would, and I open my eyes just in time to witness MC quickly sitting up, gasping for air.

Scrunkly week day 3 : Orange Leaves

Prompt: comfort (but turned somewhat angsty because I have problems)

Being with the Inquisition had been an adjustment for her. She had never been away from her clan for this long, and despite the Inquisitor being a hunter from the same clan as her it felt different being around him here, where he was seen as a powerful figure. A symbol of strength. A leader.

She always liked Feyros. As much as she liked the other members of her clan, at least. She was neutral on a lot of them, she had realised recently. Feyros asked her if she missed them, and she could only truthfully say that she missed the environment around them more than anything.

It was odd. She had spent her entire life in Clan Lavellan, yet she didn't miss any of the people from it. Not the way she thought she should, at least.

She sometimes found herself thinking she'd open her eyes and would realise that everything with the Inquisition was a dream. Feyros told her that it was the same for him for a few days after the explosion at the Conclave, and that it was just him missing home.

She didn't think it was the same for her. The dreams of the clan didn't make her happy, they gave her this horrible sinking feeling inside that she hated.

Being with the Inquisition was a new experience. It was a good experience. She was confined within solid walls for the first time in her life, and while she did find that strange and alarming at times, she still woke up looking forward to the day. Knowing that she'd be able to do what she chose to do, not what her Keeper chose for her. It was freeing.

She especially liked the days where her new mentor was at Skyhold. He left often to accompany Feyros on various journeys, but he occasionally stayed to help her train instead.

Today was one of those days, and she sprung out of her room and ran down the stairs with an energy that she hadn't known for a long time before coming to Skyhold.

She reached the front doors of the main hall in no time at all. Pushing open the doors revealed Feyros and the advisors – she locked her focus onto Feyros, ignoring Cullen, who quickly darted down the corridor to the War Room when she entered. She waved to them, a smile on her face as she made her way to the adjoining room, the one that led into Solas's study.

Her excitement grew with each step she took, energy bubbling beneath her skin and manifesting in little swirls of wind that made her clothes flutter and disturbed the papers on the desk.

Solas was painting when she arrived, so despite how eager she was to get their training started she stood and waited, watching the masterful strokes of his brush as he painted another mural on the wall.

She had asked him what they meant, once. He'd smiled and said that he'd explain them all to her one day.

It didn't take long before the painting was finished, and he turned to face her. He wasn't surprised by her presence, despite how little noise she'd made on the way in. No matter how stealthy she was, he always seemed to know when she was around.

"Siraye," he greeted, a small smile on his face. "I take your presence to mean that you're ready for training?"

"Yes!" She nodded, smile not once falling from her face.

"Excellent. Take your position." He gestured to a spot in the office that she knew was their starting point, and she made her way over to it quickly. He took his own position in return, and the room around them slowly began shifting.

The green light that filled the room always came first, soon followed by the walls seemingly melting away and the floors changing to dirt. The familiar smells of the forest invaded her nose, and she looked up to find a clear blue sky poking through gaps in the canopy of trees.

She loved this part of their training. When Solas used his abilities to transport their subconscious minds into the Fade. It allowed them to train more freely, without worrying about her damaging things or people seeing them.

"You may begin."

Siraye launched into action, starting off slowly by moving the trees around them. Closer, then further apart once more. She built up slowly, moving rocks next and shifting the ground beneath them to stone. Eventually, she realised where she was turning their environment into.

The smile dropped from her face as the tents and caravans of her old camp sprouted up around them. Before long, she had lost control and the two of them found themselves thrown into an old memory of hers, as she'd managed in previous lessons. But something about this one was different. Siraye herself didn't remember what was going to happen.

"Where have you brought us?" Solas asked, moving to stand beside her. She looked up at him, eyebrows pinched together in confusion.

"I... I don't know."

They stood together, shoulder to shoulder, as they watched the memory play out before them.

A young elf ran by, looking back in a panic at something that they couldn't quite see. Siraye inhaled sharply as she saw her – it was Ariaris, and she looked more frightened than ever. What had scared her so badly?

They found that out soon after.

Another young elf came rushing into scene, this one with flaming clothes and a rage demon close behind her. Her expression was crazed, steps heavy and filled with fury.

It was Siraye. As a young elf. But she almost couldn't recognise herself in this moment, the hatred in her eyes unfamiliar to her. When she spoke, her voice echoed inhumanely.

"ARIARIS. STOP HIDING FROM ME," she yelled, gradually growing closer to the other elf. "YOU LIED TO ME. HOW DARE YOU?"

Siraye watched the scene play out, her head throbbing with a familiar pain, one she'd been experiencing a lot since leaving her clan.

Young Siraye continued her search, the ground behind her becoming a scorched trail in the wake of both her and the rage demon. Right when they neared Ariaris, something shot out and hit her in the neck. She turned around, her anger lashing out towards the direction of the projectile right before she collapsed onto the ground, unconscious. The rage demon dissipated as she lost concentration on it.

Keeper Dashanna emerged from the treeline, Ilhon by her side with a tranquiliser blow dart tube in hand, the kind that they occasionally used for sedating injured Halla. The Keeper sighed, standing over Siraye and staring down at her in disappointment.

"Ariaris. What did you tell her?" Her tone was harsh, and it made Siraye herself wince, despite the memory being from long ago.

"I'm sorry!" Ariaris cried, coming out from her hiding place with a tears streaming down her face. "She was in pain and I felt so bad about her not knowing. It slipped out. I didn't realise she'd get so mad."

Dashanna glared at the young First, waving her hand dismissively towards Ilhon. "Take your daughter away from here. Remind her to never reveal stuff again."

Ilhon wrapped an arm around his daughter in a show of comfort, leading the distraught child away from Dashanna and her Second.

Dashanna crouched on the ground, holding a hand to Siraye's head while muttering. "You're becoming more troublesome than what you're worth, banal'ras da'len."

The phrase struck Siraye like an arrow to the heart, and she dropped to her knees in the grass as the meaning came to her. Shadow child. That was what her Keeper had called her for so long. What her clanmates whispered where they thought she couldn't hear. She hadn't realised the meaning. Nobody told her.

Solas's hand landed on her shoulder, a soft touch drawing her out of the sadness. She had read the word in one of his books. He told her what it meant. She had forgotten about the nickname until now.

The space around them shifted again until she found herself standing in his study like before. Her knees buckled beneath her, but he managed to catch her before she hit the floor.

"You need to rest, da'len. Today was stressful. None of that was pleasant, I'm sure." His voice was soft yet strict, and she knew that he wasn't giving her a choice. He led her to one of the couches in his office, lowering her onto it before stepping away. "Rest."

She wanted to argue. To ask him what had just happened. To figure out why she had been so mad in that memory – and why she had no recollection of it before now.

But something about his words made her eyelids feel heavy, her thoughts drifting away as she began succumbing to sleep.

Solas sighed as he looked down at her, so small and fragile, so easily damaged. It was the third time she'd fallen asleep in his study, yet this time proceeded the most troubling circumstances yet.

He took a seat at his desk, watching her with pinched eyebrows. Something about her had always seemed strange to him, and the more time he spent around her the more obvious it became that she had a troubled mind.

He felt... bad for her. And he wanted to help her figure out what was wrong. But for now, his greatest concern was her safety.

You need to focus on appreciate yourself as you are, believing you are the high value individual whole-heartedly, no matter the outcome of the situation. For example, you are equally beautiful no matter that person like you or not! It's not like being with that person will magically transform your appearance. 😭 Also, trying to figure out why others does not like you will more likely to bring more confusion.

Pile 3

This is a very specific type of situation. You are heavily doubting yourself and the outcome of this relationship, as you don't believe that your person likes you back. You feel that your intuition is yelling at you that your person likes you, but your mind is yelling as loud, if not louder, that there is no way that your person will like you back. Your mind is a total mess right now 😔

One reason for this thought may be that you don't believe that you are worthy. You may be mistreated before, or be told that you are worthless at the past. It may not be your situation, but it doesn't matter, because the past doesn't matter anymore. All you have to know is the past is not the future, and the future is different.

If they are still contacting with you, then just give into the passion, and enjoy the growth of this relationship. Don't do silly things to sabotage this relationship, like ghosting them 💀, just because you don't believe that things is bad. You know it is good, and your intuition is constantly remind you this, even when your mind keep telling you the opposite.

Stop wasting time in thinking, or to be more accurate, making up why you are worthless, and why you don't deserve love. There is nothing to be investigated in such topics, because they are completely false. The healing begins as you start believing in yourself. It's time to walk away from the past, to a brighter future.

Pile 4

It seems that you did something right to manifest something or reach a goal. It seems that your method is on the darker side, can be some tricks or spells, but I won't judge you 😭 You probably here to see if your thing is going to work or not, and the answer is it depends.

The outcome is highly related to how much you believe in yourself. If you did this because of lack, and you are not actually sure if you are worthy of the outcome, or straight up believe that doing the thing you did is the only method that you can get things in life, then it probably won't work. Instead of using such things as a panick button, you need to be more patient and do more work on building your self worth. I believe that it is extremely difficult to manifest things that exceed your worth, even if it works, it comes with a huge cost that probably won't worth it at all.

No matter it works or not, you will probably see the results soon. If you're manifesting a person, that seems to have interest, or even in a relationship with another person, you will observe that your person is starting to question the connection with the other person, and start decide between you and them. If even yourself is doubtful about your worth, how can you persuade your person to think that you are the better option?

Overall, I cannot get a concrete yes or no answer. The outcome situation highly depends on your self esteem and confidence.

Pile 5

I feel a huge sense of despair when channeling the message for this pile. You probably were cut off by someone. It is similar to Pile 1. But the difference is you don't even have the illusion of having an option in your situation, as it seems that things are "finished", probably by the other person, no matter how much you don't want this to happen. 😔

I am very sorry for the pain you are going through right now. You feel that there's nothing you can do in this situation anymore... and you are right. There is little you can do to skip this pain you are suffering now, as it is a normal reaction for people when they go thru such situation. Accept that you are very sad, and it is reasonable to be sad. Also, please take care of yourself. Things will definitely be better in the future. The pain won't last forever. 🙏🏻

Try not to think about how things used to be in the past. Thinking about the past probably won't do much to help the situation, but it will definitely make you feel worse. Focus on the present. Find something to distract your mind from going back to the past. You can try drawing, as it works for me 💀 Actually, just do anything that you feel drawn to. Maybe binge watching YouTube works too for you. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You may feel stuck right now, but I am sure that you can walk away from the past, and cut ties with this connection in the future. It is just a matter of time.
