“Because if it wasn’t weird, it’d just be the natural way of things. Magic wouldn’t care. Changing the world with the power of your will *is* weird. And vice-versa! To be weird is to impose your will on the world.”

“Where are you going with this?”

“Let me put it this way: what’s the biggest limitation in retributive enchantment?”

“You mean cursing? It’s fuel, right? Maintaining a curse takes upkeep, concentration. It drains your batteries and splits your will.”

“Right. But! But but but … there is a bypass. If, and only if, you understand the opposing paradigm well enough.”

“I feel like I’m going to be horrified by this.”

“If the curse fits their world view, if it’s in line with the direction of their intent, then you can co-opt *their* power.”

“So, what? You’re suggesting, I dunno, that if you know someone’s magical operating system you can put malware on their animus?”

“I’m suggesting that I already did.”

“Holy Crowley, pal. Who’d you curse?”

“One of the Flat Earth Wizards tried to burn the Atlas of the Horizon. I was on security.”

“What did you curse them with?”

“To never find the edge of the world.”

“Devious wording.”

“And the best part?”

“There’s more?”

“The curse relies on the conspiracy theory as a framework. If he starts to believe the world is round, the curse breaks.”

“You think that’s likely?”

“Well, if he wants to unpick the curse, they’ll have to understand *my* paradigm. It might help.”

“Did … did you reinvent empathy via the medium of maledictive magic?”

“A little bit.”

“You’re a monster.”

“Yeah. But you can understand where I’m coming from, right?”

Swordtember Day 2: Wizard.

The wizard who created this sword would like to contest his sentence of 100 years trapped in the Dark Dimension served for "crimes against the natural order." The sword he created is only slightly sentient, and anyway, was anyone else going to deal with the dragon problem? "I didn't think so," the wizard concludes.

Some form concepts. Read more to see some tidbits on the designs.

Because they’re a wizard, all forms have a hat and (sometimes) neckwear to cover face. Wears gloves, boots, and a robe/uniform hybrid. Has a yellow arrow caution pattern somewhere. Tried to keep base colors at a minimum of 4.

Road- High visibility for lower chances of getting run-over in the dark. Will unfurl scarf and use as caution tape. More “wizard look” than the other forms. Takes off vest and scarf in more dangerous areas.

Rail- Denim jumpsuit helps with burn protection. Hat and bandanna also helps block the cinders. If the ash and heat gets too much, will equip goggles. Nicole is their conductor (she’s very reliable).

Air- Built for the heights and air pressure. Parachute has the yellow caution arrow pattern.

Just imagine other jobs like firefighter etc with the same gear but with the face obscured and traits from the info mentioned above.
