Digital Circus AMA Notes
Digital Circus is getting a season 1 at some point!!!!
Tumblr media
#webcore aesthetic board for the series design
Pomni was going to be a frog originally. 🐸
Tumblr media
90s toys Zooble inspo
Caine is an antagonist, but not by active choice, he doesn't know he's not helping. He doesn't feel a whole spectrum of human emotions (he's an AI).
"Caine canonically just lets things happen if he thinks it's funny."
Tumblr media
Characters eat like Chao in Chao garden in Sonic. The characters can eat the food, but they can't digest it.
Tumblr media
Jax's favorite food is spaghetti.
Pomni likes salmon.
Q "Was the ending a 'Last Supper' reference?" A "in a very superficial kinda way yeah." Religious stuff is sometimes just used for the funny.
Tumblr media
Gooseworx tumblr sketches MAY or MAY NOT be canon to the series, so it's up in the air for every single one.
People can abstract from feeling too much pain if it breaks their mind from it being too much. Characters feel pain from things, but not as intensely as they would in real life.
Tumblr media
Zooble is gonna swap parts every episode (implying they have spare parts) except their body & head.
Tumblr media
Jax chose his own name & gooseworx likes to think he chose Gangle's name.
Tumblr media
Ragatha was named "Emmy" originally.
They (the cast of characters trapped in the circus) can't change their clothes but Caine can. It's part of their skin sorta kinda.
There's empty space under Pomni's hat because video game model physics.
Spamton was partially inspo for Caine, Caine's VA did Spamton dubs.
Gangle only has 2 masks. Why's it (her hapiness mask) break all the time? Mental state, but the "real her" is "harder to break."
Tumblr media
Kaumfo was gonna be part of the main cast originally before Jax.
Kaufmo's model has nothing below the waist at this time, but was made for that promotional image on twitter.
Tumblr media
Q "What kinda person was Kaufmo?" A "He was the same as Ragatha in a sense, goofy & cheery, sometimes toxic levels of positivity."
I'm paraphrasing for the sake of note taking in real time, go watch the stream playback for more context & details if you want.

I don't support AI art but this cover of "Mother Knows Best" with Frollo and Quasimodo's voices has been rotting inside my brain ever since I've listened to it 🫠

I'm making a new post because I think this is genuinely a predatory practice under the guise of stopping AI
Today I received an email from youtube stating this
Tumblr media
This seems to tell me that I am losing access to a handful of features such as pinning comments on my videos or embedding links in the descriptions of my videos for one of 2 reasons. Either I don't have sufficient channel history or I have violated a community guideline.
To my knowledge, I haven't broken any guidelines, as I have received no warnings. As for channel history, I have been using the same account since July 7 of 2013 and began regularly uploading to this channel on August 30 of 2024.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I decided to look into this further, and this is what I have found.
Under the settings of youtube studio in the "Future Eligibility" section, I was able to find the full list of what these "Advance features" really are.
Tumblr media
This includes things such as appealing content ID claims, daily upload amounts, testing different thumbnails, and even your eligibility to apply for monetization.
Now, I can fully understand putting these systems in place to stop the increase in AI channels and content. However, I do not know if this is even the case, as this is what one person told me in a discord server I talked about this in. So I may very well be wrong. However, if this not related to stopping AI, then this is even worse.
In order to access the advance features, you need to do one of the following
Tumblr media
either take a 6 second video of yourself, take a photo of your ID or build 2 months worth of channel history. Now, we already established that my channel has existed and been uploading longer than 2 months, so this must mean 2 months from NOW.
Now, while that is annoying, but the other 2 options are downright predatory. They want a photo of your ID that they say they will keep until one of the following.
Either 2 years has passed
Or you meet the 2 months of channel history.
So this means Youtube will have a photo of YOUR ID for a MINIMUM of 2 months.
Now you might be thinking, "Well why not choose the video instead."
Because that is just as sinister when you look into what exactly they are requesting.
Tumblr media
They want you to follow the prompts you are given to get a full view of your face. Something that, at least to me, seems very similar to collecting facial information to build a database. Especially because they want you to do things like looking up or down, therefore getting a better look at your face.
This is BEYOND unfair to small channels. This is downright predatory behavior. Under no circumstances should youtube be requesting anyone's ID or videos of their face in order to prove anything. At BEST this is a horrible attempt to root out AI channels and content in order to get rid of them. However, with the current climate of America and the interests of big businesses as a whole, I find it much more likely they are trying to gather more personal data from it's users. For what purpose, I don't know, but this is disgusting nonetheless.
Please, I know I am just a nobody online, but this NEEDS to be seen by more people.
This cannot be tolerated.

I am a freelance prompt engineer by day. I wanted to experiment with it to see how they would fare with descriptions (specifically looking at the general channel description and video descriptions), and I immediately saw an uptick in views on my Doey and Yarnaby video. I left my iilluminaughtii video's description the same (as my currently most viewed video) and changed the Poppy Playtime video's description so I could have a source of comparison. I specifically wanted to see if the trends captured by the model would help with catching the videos to the algorithm, and it seems to be working.
I understand AI hesitancy however, so I wanted to get thoughts on here before continuing to do so. Would using AI for descriptions and other algorithm-catching elements be understandable in your eyes, or should I continue to make my own descriptions moving forward? I decided to make a poll, so:

How do you feel about the increase in really weird NSFW ads on here (advertising panels that look like sexual encounters, and AI art apps that pride themselves on porn) but will take down NSFW posts from their users, even if it isn't technically sexual.
i hate all social media and it's consistent prioritising the advertisers over the users and the internet simply was a better place before capitalism sunk its hooks into it
#i could write essays about how capitalism ruined the internet.#i was actually talking to someone earlier today about how youtube was kind of effectively ruined by monetisation.#and they were raised in the soviet union and we had a bit of a talk about how art was better because it wasn't for profit.#the people who made art made it because they wanted to do it and because they loved it.#she said that communism was terrible for every aspect of life for her. people's lives under communism wasn't pretty.#but the art was better. and i feel like it's true for the internet – it was better when it was a free-for-all.#the companies didn't know how to exploit it yet and turn it into a neverending profit-driven hellscape.#people created content because they wanted to. because they wanted to make something silly to make people laugh.#not for profit. not for gain. not for numbers. not to further their career.#i miss the days of newgrounds and youtube before monetisation.#capitalism has soiled everything that's joyful and good in this world.#people should be able to share whatever they want.#people should be able to tell any story they want without the fear of being silenced by advertisers.#that's what made the internet so beautiful before. anyone could do anything and we all had equal footing.#but now we're victims of the algorithm. and it makes me sick.#i'm quitting my job in social media. i'm quitting it. it makes me too depressed. i have an existential crisis every freaking day.#every day i wake up and say "ah. this is the fucking hell we live in#i'm so sorry i feel so passionate about this.#social media is a black hole and it is actively destroying humanity. forget ai. social media is what's doing it.#i miss how beautiful the internet used to be. it should've been a tool for good. but it's corrupt and evil now.#sci speaks

Warning on Youtube: Highly disturbing AI cat videos that depict literal gore.
And I thought content farms and Elsagate were bad but this shit has to be the worst.
I am not posting any links because this shit has literal GORE in it but here are some of the (tamer) thumbnails
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are worse thumbnails out there but the actual contents of these videos often depict gross shit like vomit, blood/gore, children and pregnant women in distressing situations, animal cruelty violence, scat, etc.
And they’re targeting it at KIDS! KIDDOS!
LIKE THE LAST PEOPLE WHO SHOULD BE WATCHING THIS SHIT.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REPORT THESE VIDEOS AND OR GET INTO CONTACT WITH SOMEBODY FROM YOUTUBE IF YOU CAN. REBLOG THIS POST AND SPREAD AWARENESS BECAUSE THIS SHIT NEEDS TO GO!
(To make things worse is that I found a WIR gif I was going to use for the haha funnies but it fits way to damn well for this. These things are like cybugs.
Train, create, multiply.
And if they aren’t stopped, this site’s going to be nothing but a rotten husk of forgetten dreams (I butchered that quote buts it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the movie ;-;)

About YouTube's new audio feature
I think everyone was taken aback by the unexpected introduction of YouTube's new "audio tracks" feature, logging onto the 'tube and hearing your favorite content creators speaking in robot voices wasn't on anyone's bingo card but I beg everyone to resist the kneejerk reaction of "This is AI slop and must be destroyed" and look closer:
First of all, the voiceover is NOT AI generated, it uses the voice synthesizers that google has been using for their assistant for years, what it says merely mirrors the available subtitle track/s and translates them if needed, a feature that has been available for over a decade at this point
This feature can only HELP creators reach a new audience. Up until now, you had to learn a language or rely on the automatically translated subtitles (which are not available on every video and aren't a viable option for the visually impaired) to view content from foreign youtubers, the voice-over/audio tracks feature, if embraced by creators, could help eliminate the language barrier.
Why is this important? Two words: educational content. There is a massive disparity between what is available on english-speaking youtube and what's available in other languages: if used correctly, youtube can be a powerful tool to learn new things on your own time, but for many non-English speakers, this isn't possible.
Now, tutorials, educational videos, courses, and content about any topic you can name: history, biology, electronics, can now be viewed by anyone regardless of how well they can see and what language they speak. It may not be perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than what we had previously. So please
The fight against AI must continue, our livelihoods are being threatened, education is being poisoned and we cannot turn a blind eye, but don't let tech designed for accessibility get caught in the crossfire.
EDIT UNDER THE CUT
EDIT: I've just found out the feature also supports the uploading of a pre-existing audio track, just like with subtitles, the channel owner can provide their own track. See for example this episode of Pokémon, available in multiple different dubs:

As much as I wanted to describe the book with valor, I had to stop every so often to not make it an angry rant
I hope you like it!

There are many sides to the debate over AI’s use as tool in daily, all of which speak loud and passionately on its ups and downs.
My new video covers none of this, but it’s a pretty funny watch.
Enjoy!
