"You wouldn't understand because
You've never been in love,"
Not in a traditional sense, no,
But is it not love that flows through me?
The way I'd once viewed you as my sun,
The others being my stars
Is that love not enough for you?
"Of course it's not"
I speak to myself
As I hold her in my trembling arms
The dark room empty
Yet suffocating
Is it not love,
how I nursed you back to health?
When you couldn't move or stand?
"Not enough for them,"
I speak once more,
To the child in my grasp
"Why can't they see that I do know love?"
She whispers into the dark
"It's not your fault,"
I reply simply, as tears run down her cheeks
"Love is complex, they don't know themselves,"
The words fall on deaf ears
A shattered soul
Lost in the dark
I hope someday she'll see,
And I know that she is me
Love isn't that one thing,
A wedding with a ring
It's all around us,
Flourishing, blooming
In the winds that spread pollen,
The stars that shine at night
In the arms that hold us closely,
When nothing seems quite right
I know there's love within me,
Though maybe not your kind
And I hope one day you'll see me
When you stop being so blind
Love is the laughter shared,
The tears we shed together
It's the moments that we think of
When we can't stand the weather
I love all and none,
And sometimes too much
Never nothing
And it helps me see
Though you'd never agree
That I am love,
And love is me

REBLOG IF YOUR BLOG IS A SAFE SPACE FOR AROMANTIC PEOPLE AND IF YOU THINK THEY ARE VALID
I want to see how many people actually are willing to say this and not just act like it

A list of rules when interacting with an aroace person, by an aroace person:
- Do not romantic our platonic. We will not hesitate to smash a rock into your skull.
- Do not piss us off. We're all attached by invisible walkie-talkies. It's like roaches--if there's one, there's definitely another one nearby.
- Do not say things like 'when you're married' or 'when you meet that special person'. Trust me, coming to terms with an aroace identity in a romance-centered world is not a fun, quirky choice.
- Do not assume that we don't like seeing romance/sex in the media. I'm aroace and one of my favourite genres is romance.
- WE ARE LGBTQIA+. Doesn't matter if we're cis, heterosexual but aromantic or heteroromantic but asexual or any other combination of all the various shades of aspec, WE COUNT AS QUEER PEOPLE.
- Do not equate being aroace or on the aspectrum to being celibate. It's not the same thing. Being aroace is not a choice.
- Being aroace does not mean we're all lonely or sad. Eating garlic bread is scientifically shown to boost your serotonin levels (don't fact check me on this)
- Living with someone or wanting to live with someone doesn't mean we want them romantically! If you have the option to establish a hideout for you and all your buddies, why wouldn't you?
This was, again, a list of rules when interacting with an aroace person, shown to reduce chances of dying by burnt breadsticks and pasta by 100%!

about a month ago, my uncle asked if I had a significant other. I appreciate his gender inclusivity, of course.
I'm used to the question. it's not like it's something outrageous that he's asking. so I simply said no, that's not for me.
he looked at me and said "well, someday." not someday maybe, just.... someday.
of course I'm not quick to anger, but there's a part of me that's a little more defensive about my aroace identity. so I jumped to my defense.
my uncle isn't a bad guy, he's quite nice and tries his best to be respectful in the current political shit storm by supporting queer people. but apparently that does exclude me, an aroace.
I reiterated that I'm just not interested in a romantic or sexual partnership, and I really do not ever see that changing.
and he said something to the effect of "it's okay if you don't want that now."
and I said, "no, it's just okay that I don't want that."
and he said that I was pessimistic. as if I was secretly searching for a relationship or a partner, but was rejecting love because I could not find one.
I calmly (with all the rage in my veins) told him "no, a life without love or sex is something optimistic for me."
he had the gall to look horrified.
I'm sick of aroace people not being seen as normal human people when they don't want the outcome of their life to look like everyone else's. I'm sick of the white picket fence, I'm sick of the assumption that everyone has another half out there.
I'm whole on my own.

Since there's not a lot of love for aro and/or ace and bi men, I thought that I spread some love on my blog cause all of you are great, you should be proud of who you are. You don't have to fit society's stereotype of men, just because you don't want sex/romance or you like men and women doesn't mean that you're weird in any way. Loving masculinity, no matter if it's your own or another man's, is good. You shouldn't see masculinity as a threat to society because that's not true. Not liking sex and/or romance is okay, don't listen to people telling you that you should be obsessed with sex and women. I'm so proud of every single one of you, you go guys

One thing i find so funny is that people think they are so progressive for accepting same sex couples, but they still can't wrap their head around the fact that maybe not everyone feels romantic and/or sexual attraction

(vent again haha)
thinking about pride this year when I was tearfully telling a protestor that ppl like him drove me from God and some girl next to me was like
"yeah! she can fuck whoever she wants!" (I was wearing three they/them pins and one ey/em pin) and I paused and went "actually I'm asexual" and she looked DISAPPOINTED and said "oh.." and the guy said "what does that mean?" and I said "it means I don't have sexual attraction" and he said
"why are you even here then?" and the girl said NOTHING. ugh. I legitimately felt invalidated about my gender and sexuality at pride by this Christian dickhead and by this girl attending the pride like they were both staring at me like I didn't belong there. it sucked. 😮‍💨
