One thing I've noticed about the erasure of aspec identities is that it's eerily familiar to the erasure of non-binary identities. Often times Aspec identities are viewed as Blank slates to slap other identities on top of - similar to non-binary identities.

A character uses strictly they/them and people will say "Okay but I'm going to use he/him or she/her because x looks like a boy/girl to me" A character strictly states they are not interested in romance and people will say "okay but I'm going to call them a lesbian/gay/any other sexuality because obviously they must be interested in x even though they said they weren't interested at all."

"I can ignore this characters canonical non-binary identity because people can headcanon whatever they want and I headcanon them as cis instead! no this isn't erasure!!! it's fiction it doesn't hurt anyone! pronouns don't equal gender anyways!!!"

"I can ignore this characters canonical aspec identity because people can ship/headcanon whatever they want and I headcanon this character as allo/not aspec instead! no this isn't erasure!!! it's fiction it doesn't hurt anyone! aspecs can still date and have sex anyways!!!"

idk as someone who is both nonbinary and aroace I'm having a sense of déjà vu.

thinking about how spectacularly alastairs character arc would be shown through fashion in a modern setting. going from looking like hes in his late 20s at youngest, wearing smart casual at almost all times mirroring charles' clothes to mismatched colourful patterns and fun clothes and jewelry because he can finally live and he looks like hes 19 and loves art and can act like the teenager he really is and has an entire assortment of accessories that match all the rest of the cast

I think the core four should have friendship bracelets! as a treat!

bart: makes those elastic ones with beads. and each one spells something different with the beads. like "BART(bead)BEST", "TIM(bead)SUX", "WORLDSSTRONGEST", etc. (idk im not creative)

kon: makes it sorta like bart and all of them have different colors, but all of them say the same thing #SUPERBOYFANCLUB as a joke, but they all wear it religiously bc he is their husband that they long for as they all stare out the window.

cass: y'know those macrame bracelets, 10/10 would make those for every one.

A follow up to my last post! (text below the cut)

Bonnie, uses they/them pronouns. They are 16 years old, non binary and a lesbian. They are Singaporean American, living in the USA.

They like Hot Topic, using MySpace, listening to My Chemical Romance and Evanescence, dark make-up, vampires, Invader Zim, skulls, their cool bat wings and animals.

They dislike meat, itchy clothing, country music, coffee, flashy colours and making decisions.

Bonnie is an artistic, melancholic, introverted and opened minded person who loves their friends, listening to gothic, emo and alternative rock music, reading vampire novels and practicing make-up.

They’re a causal anime fan (not as big of a fan as their friend Imani) and they love to browse the internet, especially decorating their MySpace page. They’re an aspiring make-up artist and especially loved gothic, vampire and emo aesthetics.

Since their school has a dress code, their outfits are toned down. While they’re the most cynical of the group, Bonnie is a sensitive soul and cares deeply about their friends and animals. Bonnie is also vampire kin!
