Maleficent

A malevolent fairy queen possessing vast magical powers, Maleficent considered herself as the mistress of all evil.  Her machinations were responsible for all the misfortune in King Stefan's kingdom. She took great offense over not being invited to the christening of Stefan’s daughter, Princess Aurora.  As such, Maleficent cursed the princess to die by pricking her finger on a spinning wheel's spindle before the sun sets on her 16th birthday.

The benevolent fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, learned of the curse and attempted to protect Princess Aurora by whisking her away to grow up in a secretive nook of the kingdom.  Many years past as Maleficent searched her out.  Her familiar, a crow named Diablo, was ultimately able to locate her; hence Maleficent was finally able to enact her curse.

Yet once more the good fairies interceded, altering the magic so Aurora did not die from pricking her finger but rather fell into a deep, dreamless sleep from which she could only be awakened by a kiss from her one true love.  Maleficent then sequestered the sleeping beauty in a high tower of her well-fortified castle.

Aurora’s one true love proved to be Prince Phillip of the nearby kingdom of King Hubert.  Armed with special weapons provided by the good fairies, Phillip invaded the castle intent on rescuing Aurora.  Maleficent chose to take on the Prince herself, transforming into a giant, powerful dragon.  Using an enchanted sword, Phillip was able to piece the dragon’s heart and Maleficent fell to her apparent death.  Phillip then reached Aurora and was able to wake her from her cursed slumber with a kiss.  

Maleficent was voiced by actress, Eleanor Audley, and first appeared in the 1959 Disney animated feature, Sleeping Beauty.

Akiza noticed the scars disappearing from Amanda’s arms. It was a shock to her. Was it her powers that were doing this? She knew her abilities were destructive so she never once thought about them having a healing aspect to it. This is something she would have to worry about this later.

“Akiza! You can heal?” Leo says. “That’s amazing!”

“So this is what psychic powers really are.” Crow said.

“This is no time to be mesmerized! We are being attacked!” Luna brought everyone back to reality just as another Diablo sped by the pit stop.

Akiza ordered Rose Tentacles to attack the mechanical monstrosity. She wasn’t going to entertain them with a duel. They needed to go. She could hear more coming. With the spectators in a frenzy, more people will be in danger. No matter how many come here she will destroy them all. She vowed to use her powers to protect people.

‘I won’t give up!’

They arrived and one after another she destroyed them. She did her best to minimize the damage. Overtime, the stadium seats cleared out. Once the last robot was defeated, she went back to Crow and the kids.

“I’m gonna drive around the track to see if anyone else needs help.” She put on her helmet and drove away.

“Crow what can we do?” Allie asked with fire in her eyes. Guu and Amanda had the same flame of determination to help too. It was a feeling Crow understood but he had to extinguish that flame.

“Me and Akiza will handle this. Don’t worry.” Crow gave them a wink and thumbs up as reassurance.

You know, Professor Crewel was a student in NRC, but which dorm was he in back then?

Hello hello! ^^ Thank you for this question!

To my knowledge there has been no official confirmation of the dorm that Crewel lived in when he was a student at NRC!

There are some rumors that he may have been in Heartslabyul as he is from the Queendom of Roses (much like Riddle, Trey, Ace and Deuce), but we do not technically know!

Other rumors say that he have been sorted into Pomefiore, as he is the teacher of subjects such as Potionology and Poison Refining, and he also overseas the arts clubs!

One of the more interesting points in favor of this theory came out just recently on JP 👀

The "Magic Assault Practice" series started off with Crowley, and involved battling through each dorm in order, thus ending with a final battle against Crowley at Diasomnia.

There have been rumors for a while that Crowley may have some connection to Maleficent's crow Diablo that has yet to come to light.

Yana even retconned his name so that the "Dire" from Dire Crowley and "Dia" from "Diablo" (and Diasomnia) are pronounced the same way!

But that might not be related to the "Magic Assault Practice" event!

After all, the dorms are almost always in the "Heartslabyul -> Diasomnia" order anyway 🐦‍⬛

But then came Crewel's turn for the Magic Assault Practice tournament, and suddenly the order of the battlegrounds were changed!

No longer starting with Heartslabyul and ending with Diasomnia, the event began with Ignihyde and ended with--Pomefiore 👀

So while we do not know for certain what Crewel's official dorm assignment was (it has not been mentioned anywhere in the game, manga or novel), there are theories! ^^

ok, ok. Hear me out on the Animal Lover Yuu! Eventually each dorm gets/befriends one of Yuu’s animals and adopts them into the dorm. For example, Murder the raven/crow goes to diasomnia (like Diablo for Maleficent) and vibes with Lilia’s bats. Heartslaybul gets a deer or a ferret (a group of ferrets is a business! And that fits Riddle’s vibes). Our lovely fox could befriend Savannaclaw, he plays underhanded tricks but is a good nap buddy for Leona. Octotrio has a duck, loves the water in the lounge, helps Jade collect mushrooms, chases out riff raff for Azul, and is the same level of crazy hyper as Floyd. Scarabia has a snek (Jamil does not appreciate the irony but does like that it keeps Kalim busy) who is VERY pretty and likes to sit on Kalim’s head like a turban or around Jamil’s neck. Pomfiore has a falcon or other bird of prey, they clean their feathers regularly with Vil, hunt/stalk with Rook, and are ‘manly’ enough to hang out with Epel. Ignihyde gets our lovely loyal pupper, Ortho says it reminds him or the Cerberus dog bots (from chapter 7) and our good boy is patient enough for Idia to warm up to (despite being a cat person).

An unintended side effect of the boys bonding with the animals from Ramshackle is that the animals become biased in the shipping war. Each one encourages Yuu to spend time with THEIR dorm, and thinks their dorm would make better mates for the Ramshackle prefect. The animals all get along back home, but on campus they take sides and aren’t afraid to play the cute/sad pet card to get their way.

Each animal tries to sell Yuu on each dorm like it's real estate. Murder's over here like " You get a prince, a general, and two body guards." Marahute, the golden eagle, tells Yuu about the wonderful day they had with Pomefiore: "An actor and a Model, an exceptional hunter such as themselves, and manly apple." Scorch, the ferret, babbles about the unbirthday party they went to: "A baker, a Magicam magician, a nice rebel, a lawmaker, and a law breaker!" Wimdy's taking about the great nap they took with Leona, and all the things they stole with Ruggie (Yuu told them to put it back, but Wimdy kept half of it.)

Hista, the viper (ironically enough), sings a tale of their day: "A merchant's son and his powerful adviser, plus there would be plenty of room for us!" Scourge, the duck, goes on about their day in Octavinelle while humming a familiar tune: "A remarkable businessman, a man who loves nature, and one who can cook up an amazing meal." Floppy's having a field day in Ignihyde: " You two good boys! And a little brother!"

Yuu tries laughing it off, but they're noticing how the animals are trying to pair them up with a few of the dorm members...

Let me start with saying i love your blog really really much, this is something that has been rent free on my mind since Diasomia's arc started, is Malleus' father a dragon fae? I read the translations of chap 7 and i don't think i saw it mentioned, they just stayed vague on what kind of fairy he was, many fans started saying he was not a dragon, if that would be the case doesn't that mean Malleus is an half-blood!? The dragon bloodline isn't pure!?

Meleanor rejected many dragon suitors to marry the person she loved, whoever he was, why not say if Levan was a dragon or not, this is stressing me out. Especially since i saw the Crowley's theory.

Hi thank you so much for this question! I actually also wanted to address this, as I've seen some people (particularly on Twst EN Twitter and Reddit fandoms) who believe that the "Malleus is half Long because Levan is a Long" theory is canon. It's actually just one of the common theories which are:

He is a Long prince/noble.

He is simply a Raven fae. This is also why many believe that Levan is Crowley as both ravens and crows are collectively karasu in Japanese.

Let me put on a disclaimer that I'm leaning more on the theory that Levan might not necessarily be Crowley, but he is indeed a Bird Fae-- because his name does sound like Raven in the Japanese language, and the fact that Malleus' Platinum Jacket portrait has both Maleficent and her loyal raven Diablo in it. You are correct that there was never an explicit reveal on what he was though.

~ A short explanation on the first theory ~

So how did the first theory come to be? Because his official title in Briar Kingdom is 竜眼公 lit. Dragon Eye Lord. Some people have taken this literally and assumed that it means Levan is a dragon; more specifically, a Long. That's because the 竜 in his title is a kanji character and Twst happened to exactly distinguish in the Endless Halloween event an Asian Long 竜 (in kanji alphabet), and a western dragon ドラゴン (in katakana alphabet). Malleus specifies that he is a ドラゴン.

Now while theorizing that Levan is a Long is somewhat valid, it's less likely. Because a) it's common practice in Japanese to use kanji in formal titles and unusual to use katakana which is why ドラゴン was not used, which means b) Levan's "Dragon Eye Lord" title is just to indicate that he is Meleanor's eyes, as Lilia described him in the same chapter. This is also what Diablo's role is in the original movie.

~ Commenting on the theory that Levan is a Bird Fae ~

This is the most likely logical theory at this point, and you're correct that this means Malleus is half a dragon, half a bird. However, it's looking more and more like the fae are going with Mendel's Law of Inheritance with the Draconias' genes as extremely dominant that all other genes mixed in become recessive. Which means that while they're technically not pure-blooded dragons, the dragon genes will always appear in full view anyway so they might as well be pure. This is probably why Lilia mentions that the Draconias are "descended from dragons" rather than simply dragons. They may have varying fae species packed in their blood, but the dragon genes just completely cover them like a wallpaper lol.

Some Crowley and Lilia Parallels(?)

?? am i reaching here but doesn't "Crowley searching for a way for Yuu to go home" similar to "Lilia searching for a way for Malleus to hatch"?lol

like they both travel to far away places to search for clues to solve their younglings' problem and both Malleus/Yuu are frustrated whenever they're gone for their travels, Crowley/Lilia can't find a logical explanation why they're taking so long solving their problem too (like how Lilia foolishly trust wishes to make a dragon egg hatch bcs its just impossible to find another dragon and how Crowley seems like he's being lazy because he truly doesn't know how to transport a human back to another world) even though they're the person best suited to solve Malleus/Yuu's problem (crowley being the manager of orientation so he definitely must know(?) where the students came from and lilia being the only person Meleanor told that he'll hatch Malleus) also both of them are quite detached by how much Malleus/Yuu depends on them (by that i mean they leave them alone too much and lack communication with them even though theyre the person who took them under their wing)

They also have a habit of surprising people by falling from the sky (like Crowley's animation during special lessons and how Lilia always appears upside down to scare people)

and the difference between their serious and goofy personality is striking (like General Lilia with his mean attitude and deep voice vs Peepaw Lilia and then Prologue Crowley w his ominous vibe and again deeper than usual voice vs Weird Headmage Crowley).

Also idk if this means anything but they're also the characters with the most unique voices in-game, and im unsure about this too but i think their speech patterns both uses old english phrases yet still maintaining a modern pattern (to fit with the youths yk) and they both have "groups of bats/crows" surrounding them and serving as their only motif-- which makes me think both of them have familiars????

also both of them have "minimal magic usage"..... Crowley really doesn't casts any magic atleast in-game (but in other TWST media Crowley casts basic magic) and we know how Lilia is losing his magic because he exhausted it for hatching a dragon egg- Both of their (potential) twisted Disney characters (Bat goon and Diablo/Diaval) have a role in searching for Aurora too (I remember the Bat goon and co. was originally the ones tasked to search for Aurora but he failed so the task was passed to Diablo instead, and Diaval bcs he discovered that King Stefan had a daughter which raged Maleficent in the live action-)

I'm pertaining that if Crowley is Levan,,,, then these similarities would point out to the fact that [Lilia and Levan were always together](than Meleanor did) to the point where they kind of adapted each other's qualities, even if centuries pass-- Also TWST likes mirroring the "knights" of this game (i.e Silver and Sebek, Deuce and Ace), Lilia and Levan were Right and Left Generals (knights), so it kinda explains why they're having similar struggles and similar life pattern(?) (like babysitting an unprecedented child amidst their independent life and being hit with an important problem that is "impossible to solve")

so In conclusion?? did Meleanor cursed her generals to be eternally struggle babysitting troubled children?? XD

totally reaching here-- if Crowley is Levan and his life truly is similar to Lilia's,,, then then does that mean he cut his hair like Lilia's ???? 😳 bcs think about it,,,, all the Briar Valley characters we got has long hair (Meleanor, Baul, and Gen. Lilia) so does that mean if we do get a reveal of Crowley/Levan,,, we'll see Crowley with a longer hair as Levan- ✨🙏

If that's true,,, atleast Levan's hairstyle as Crowley wasn't a chaotic job like Lilia's,,,, LOL it kinda matches their description that Levan is more prim and proper KDHWKHD atleast as Crowley, Levan is actually attempting fashion instead of randomly matching whatever like Lilia 😭 also didn't Crowley had a tangent about his very specific food taste when asking for souvenir(GloMas Event)?? which hits the nail about Lilia's complaint about Meleanor and Levan being picky eaters lol

PERSONALITY

Diaval is a reserved and introverted individual, but also very careful and a kind person by nature.

With subjects that arouse his curiosity or interest, he can prove to be a talkative person and easy to talk to.

Diaval also has a great ability to command people in diverse situations (as a strategist) and is also a good diplomat. Due to being great observer, he can easily create useful strategies for difficult situations. However, upon realizing that the situation is out of control, Diaval may act more desperate, nervous AND TOTALLY RESTLESS, especially in cases where he knows from the beginning that everything will go wrong, which makes him a bit of a chatterbox until the situation is resolved.

Despite being a kind person, he also acts sarcastic as hell in situations where he wants to irritate someone or when he is irritated, and can also reveal a somewhat sadistic side, mocking and enjoying the pain of someone he doesn't like.

Overall, Diaval takes on a more parental/caregiving attitude towards those he cares about(even with humans, with whom he has more difficulty befriending with), being a big worrier if something dangerous happens.

Diaval is Malleus' closest servant, which is why he is known as "Malleus' wings" in Briar Valley. He has known Malleus since he was a child

For some reason, Diaval has maps of the entire NRC

Diaval is a person very well informed about what happens at school, he loves... gossip... and investigating the latest topics

For this reason (mentioned in the previous topic), he has a love-hate relationship with Azul, especially because in book 3 he prevented a large number of diasomnia students from being caught in contracts.

He definitely doesn't like participating in swimming lessons. According to him, his wings are too heavy to swim properly.

Diaval definitely doesn't like going near the Savanaclaw dorm, but why? Simple, there are a good number of beastmen with canine characteristics (like Jack) in Savanaclaw, and well... He doesn't like dogs very much…

At some point in his life, Diaval helped babysit Silver. The first thing little Silver called Diaval was "pretty little bird"

APPEARANCE

Diaval has short, very dark blue (almost black) hair, with a long fringe on the left that covers his eyepatch. His eyes are pink, he has a mole below his eye and on his neck (and other non-visible places on his body), he wears black earrings in both ears.

His dorm uniform are a little modified. He has a neck stole made of feathers and wears a 'scarf' around his neck instead of a tie, his black coat hangs below his shoulders, he has a gold claw ring on his fingers and some part of the back of his outfit is open to his wings.

So you know how it's known across the fandom that Yuu's love for Grim (and favouritism) is stronger than any potential romantic love and one of my favourite tropes is having Grim getting in the way of the boys' courting because of Yuu's motherly instincts for the little baby.

Imagine that but Miss Yuu and the villainous sidekicks in the House of Mouse!AU because of course her Disney Princess-ness is so strong that she not only has her own animal sidekick but also the animal sidekicks of the villains. Like, the overblot gang try to visit her at her job in the club only to find her already occupied.

Riddle comes in to find her having a pleasant tea party with the King of Hearts and the White Rabbit and feels too shy to say anything

Leona is visibly ticked to find his pillow herbivore in a hyena cuddle pile, with Yuu giving them all head pats (especially when Shenzi, Banzai and Ed give him smug looks when Yuu's not watching)

Azul can do nothing but stare when he finds Yuu's attention is slowly focused on giving Flotsam and Jetsam head scritches as they purr all self-satisfied like the little sea cats they are

Jamil is completely irked to see Iago hogging all of Yuu's time by letting her pet his feathers as he brags about himself

Both Vil and Malleus have come on separate occasions to find either Queen Grimhilde's crow or Diablo preening at Yuu's attention

The one time Idia leaves his room and comes to the club with Ortho so that he can play a new mobile game with Yuu, only to find her sitting in the corner with Pain and Panic all snuggled up on either side of her (and Grim on her lap, of course), as the three of them watch Kimi No Na Wa on the imps' tablet.

I just find find it neat how the sidekicks (both heroic and villainous) have all basically claimed Yuu as theirs as well. I've always loved the whole found family aspect of when a character is dating or gets gets adopted by a powerful character, all of the underlings instantly welcome them, shower them with love and are probably even more protective of them than the other main character (it happens quite a lot in manga, manhwa and in a lot of fanfics I read)

This is adorable, but also the image of Pain and Panic basically being iPad babies makes so much sense.

Hades brought Cerberus once, and Miss Yuu giving him a treat was all it took for him to be a good puppy. There is always a bird, good or evil, perched on her shoulder. Lucifer likes to curl up at her feet when she sits down somewhere. Yuu is basically and unofficial Disney princess now, so that means all the animals love her. But Grim will always be her baby.
