Prompt 341
Danny sighs as the sound of a falling shelf reaches him, quickly followed by twin snarls. He takes a breath, even if he hasn’t needed to breathe since he was fourteen, and counts to ten as he pauses in making dinner.
“Ellie, Dan, what’ve I said about throwing each other into the shelves-”
He stops as he comes to the living room doorway, both of the gremlins freezing mid-stuffing an unconscious vigilante out the window, feathers puffed up. Dear Ancients he does not want to deal with this today, but it’s not like life ever cared about what he wants in any situation.
“Elnath, Jordan, you better not be about to toss that person out the window-”

I have an au idea where Vlad Masters is raising like a 12-year-old Ellie an eight year old Dante situation is Danny permanently unconscious until Vlad can do something to fix it
The idea is Vlad did something down to get both him and Danny caught by the giw Danny trying to save Dante and Danielle ended up getting himself hurt where now he's practically unconscious they ended up moving to Gotham which is in a different dimension
out of nowhere new billionaire Vlad Masters is now stuck raising Danielle his 12 year old daughter and Dante is 8 year old son both who seem to hold a large dislike to him and will be willing to open voice their opinions
Danny in a room in the Master's mansion in Gotham that leads to like a pocket dimension in the infinite Realms glass coffin with a portrait of Danny and a bunch of like flower stuff around it
Dante and Danielle go out as there antiheroes and steal any magical artifact they can find and give it to Vlad so we can try to engineer it to help Danny wake up
Instead of it being Tim that's mostly suspicious this time it's actually Damien Danielle and Damian are both in the same predicament we're being incredibly gifted and being in high school even though they're like 12 years old
Damian has been able to notice the hostility that Danielle Masters seems to have it against Mr Masters but talk about dear Mother like they were an angel
Why Dante Master seems to blame both his Mother for leaving him alone with Mr Masters Damian is on the case to see her none of this a case of abuse or something even deeper
I like the idea of Dan being the younger sibling and Danielle being older also misunderstandings
I like
There definitely is a misunderstanding that Vlad is the one keeping Danny in the coma.

I had a crack idea that I was thinking of so you know in Dan is Klarion au I was imagining a au based off of that one where all of Danny's children are Klarion is like the robin thing for Batman it started off with Danielle when nabu insulted Danny as the Ghost King and Balance
Ever since Ellie decided that she needed to get back in blood so she made the chaotic antihero Klarion and and her suppose it familiar 'cat' Teekl the way to help out her mother and mess with Dr Fate/Nabu Teekl is actually a bear with an illusion on that makes him look like a cat in the human's eyes
Whatever since the anti-hero Klarion in The Phantom family has been passed down each of them giving their own flair to the persona of Klarion with a different animal every time that they had pretending to be a cat
Tell her to finally passed on to Dan it is an honorary sibling thing each of them has their own antihero name once they passed down the title of Klarion
Diana's query and takes after his father's style of dressing and his tickle is a phoenix
First of Thanks for the Ask! Inspirational as always! Helps with my writers block [insert awkward laugh]
Either way because this is split in two asks... you get two version! One focused on how it started and the other on the reveal! Though the might be some little Shorts... Also there is something really funny to me about a giant bear letting Illusionen into a cat... So Enjoy!
(BTW still thinking over the other ask... and working on it don't worry!)
------------------
Ellie huffed as Danny reprimanded her for her actions. She just huffed crossing her arms. She was just helping Danny. Her mom got a lot on his shoulders and she as the sort of oldest saw that the best. Sure technically Dan was older then her but, he shrunk down to kid level again and now she was the oldest.
Well if she ignored her other brothers but they were only saved recently and still in treatment with Frostbite. So she was the oldest. End of story.
"Ellie you can't just go off like that you know that messing with an Ancient is not-"
"Mom, That Nabu-Guy was being a pain in the a- " - "Ellie!" - "A PAIN, babbling on to much about Order here Order there. How keeping Balance means keeping Order and bla bla bla!" She cut in stopping her mom before he could go on another rant about the Ancients, she needed to treat with respect.
"He doesn't respect you, the Ancient of Balance! You are the literal Symbol of Balance between Life and Death! Aside from being the Ghost King. So of course I had to mess with the one HE mentors!" Ellie added huffing as she crossed her arms.
Danny pinched the bridge of his nose. "Ellie, you created an entire alternate persona!"
"Yea so?"
"You used an illusion spell on Fluffels!"
"And? Any good Anit-Hero needs a Mascot." Ellie shrugged once more looking up at her mom before looking over to Fluffels, her pet ghost grizzly that was pretty much double maybe even tripple her size and the fluffiest ghost grizzly you could find in the entire Ghost Zone, and the cutest.
Danny on the other hand groaned, wondering if he had done anything wrong while raising Danielle. Sure he had been a teen himself but good damit why the hell did Ellie decided messing with the Ancient of Order or rather his mentee was a good idea. "I am calling Jazz! You can explain to her what you were thinking!"
He was definitely to overworked and stressed to deal with Ellies mischievousness right now. Well she did call her alternate persona Klarion, Lord of Chaos. Nope! He was not dealing with this right now, so Danny did the sanest thing he could think of. Turning on his heel and walking away. Where to? Who cares maybe he would check in with his old man Clockwork and see what Ellie had actually been up to, instead of just reading through Nabu's complains.
Ellie on the other hand blinked watching her mom leave before calling after him. "Does that mean I have to stop, being Klarion?"
"Mom?!"
"MOM!"
------------------
"Well hello my lovely Amadillos! Long time not seen!"
Ellie shouted cheerfully as she twirled into appearing hair styled into a horn like form, black suit and she might have over done it a little with the black eyeliner but hey it was an iconic look wasn't it. She smirked as Fluffles growled which translated into a meow for the mortals before her thank to the illusion spell.
The mortal teen looked up at her surprised as she floated down her hand glowing with red ectoplasm (a color change from her usual green ectoplasm that had taken a while to learn from Pandora). Young Justice was currently transporting something of interest to her. Well of Interest for the Justice League, really but Doctor Fate was involved which meant Nabu was involved, which naturally meant she would get involved. It didn't hurt that she would also get to try to try some new tricks.
"You got something interesting there... and I want that." She grinned. Ellie didn't give them long before she acted using the new tricks she had learned.
"Woah! Hey there, watch the pointy and sharp thowies!" She laughed making a quick shield as she blocked some batarangs and arrows before blinking.
"Hey they look different. Robin, did you change equipment? Did you get a new haircut too?" She asked curious but didn't really receive an answer as they ignored her questions and shouted something about distracting her while the others continue the transportation. Still she bend down to pick one of them up twirling it between her fingers. "What gives didn't they have a different design before?"
In hindsight it was probably not a good idea to just abandon her original goal but Robin was making her curious. And she could always find a different way to mess with Nabu. Her mom had given her an indirect okay years ago anyway.
"Teekl!" She called out and only her eyes could see how Fluffles jumped at the call growling in response as he swatted away some of the more annoying Young Justice kids. To the mortals it probably looked like Teekl was using ectoplasm, or well magic, in their eyes.
She used that change to go up into Robins face smirking widely as she looked at the other more closely, trying to get a read on him. "You are different! You aren't the same Robin I meet before!"
She ducked in time avoid Superboy as she hopped back excited with a new idea for her family.
But first she would have to deal with the little chaos and mischief she was creating.
------------------
".....and that is how I learned that the Robin title is getting passed down. So I was thinking of doing the same!" Ellie broadly stated looking at all her younger siblings before her. "We all get pretty annoyed with the way Nabu treats Mom so there always has to be a Lord of Chaos to 'balance' Nabu out!"
She grinned at her siblings expecting the same kind of excitement she had and they didn't disappoint. Danny had been there for all of them, even going so far as in to find a way with Clockwork to save some of their lives. So of course they all would jump at the change to mess with the one Ancient that was badmouthing their Mother just because Balance didn't entitle Order the way they wanted.
After all Chaos was needed to Balance Order out.
This was going to be fun...

do u have any book recs for morally bad characters? not grey or ambiguous or whatever. i think id use ianthe as an example of what i mean
far be it from me to decide which character is "morally bad" or merely grey so for the purposes of this rec list i focus on characters who do bad things for selfish reasons. however, ianthe, beyond just being a villain-esque character, has that iconic persona(lity) which alas only few of the characters mentioned here share. so keep that in mind in case you wanted a list of ianthes😅
okay so when i think ianthe i think unhinged girl books, specifically boy parts by eliza clark. ik ik i keep mentioning it in every rec list but truly there's no other character who reminds me of ianthe more than irina sturges, minus the sword. boy parts is sometimes described as american psycho for girls and while i haven't read that book yet i can confirm that characters in bret easton ellis' other works (less than zero and the rules of attraction) are quite morally bankrupt and entirely unlikable, especially compared to the cast in the secret history by his fellow bennington graduate donna tartt who are themselves toeing the line between grey and irredeemable. that is, if such finer distinctions matter to you🤷‍♀️
dark academia typically features protagonists who are more or less evil which is true for joanne harris' gentlemen and players as well as its sequel different class. cracks by sheila kohler is another example - it's a short and weird book about girls in a boarding school commiting shocking atrocities. aside from we have always lived in this castle by shirley jackson, which i have already mentioned, books like tender is the flesh by agustina bazterrica and we need to talk about kevin by lionel shriver are bridging the gap between litfic and horror and focus on people who range from morally ambiguous to utterly despicable and frightening (yet fascinating). if you want to go all in with this latter vibe you could try killing stalking which is an extreme horror/dark romance bl manhwa. needless to say: always check the trigger warnings.
if hannibal lecter is someone who fits your understanding of "morally bad" you should try the og book series by thomas harris. fair warning tho: they are not queercoded like the show😅 two more series following the crimes of a nasty but compelling guy are the joe goldberg books by caroline kepnes and the tom ripley books by patricia highsmith. in the latter series i will admit i only like book one which stands on its own pretty well and after it i'd rec trying highsmith's other books instead - for example, strangers on a train. another thriller author to check out is christopher rice whose melodramatic and somewhat depraved early works feature deliciously problematic side characters. start with the snow garden and see if you like his style. my last thriller rec is for your own good by samantha downing which is about a bad teacher abusing his power to punish students he doesn't like.
switching the gears to historical fiction and classics. perfume: the story of a murderer by patrick süskind is the life story of a man who by all accounts is bad but if so why does his perfume smell so good? what does he put in there?? another perfect example of a character blurring the line between morally grey and black is the protagonist of thomas savage's the power of the dog. both books have very good film adaptations which i recommend as well.
if you want to try and tackle a dusty tome foregrounding wicked antiheroes consider reading vanity fair by william thackeray or dangerous liaisons by pierre choderlos de laclos. if you'd rather start with something shorter look no further than the picture of dorian gray, who i personally think is "darker" than just grey (ha), but if you already read it consider revisiting the classic via the uncensored edition. still shorter? then you might like another work by oscar wilde - lord arthur savile's crime. it's much more humorous and satirical, as is lieutenant gustl by arthur schnitzler - a hilarious stream of consciousness novella following an odious imperial army officer as he contemplates how to restore his damaged manly honor in the wake of another man touching his sword - not a euphemism but definitely a metaphor😅
i really struggled to choose sff recs☹️ the thing is, in your typical fantasy characters like this will either be pretty one dimensional villains or side characters with not a lot of screen time, whereas those on the main cast are rather what you would probably describe as morally grey. nevertheless, here are three recs i'm not very satisfied with: first of all, empire of the vampire's jean françois gives me ianthe vibes. so far he's a character in the frame narrative only but i expect he'll play a bigger role in the final book of the trilogy. secondly, there is a secondary villain character in the winnowing flame trilogy by jen williams who is honestly my favorite part of it and they do bad things etc by virtue of being a villain but,, maybe they're just misguided? maybe their friends and family didn't love them enough but the main villain did? i mean, who's to say🤷‍♀️ finally, the main character of lynn flewelling's nightrunner books has an evil ex who has a fun poor little meow meow arc in books 4 and 5 - you decide if it's worth reading the entire series bc of it. i mean it's pretty good old queer fantasy so it's worth it for other reasons too but yeah. you see what i mean when i say it's difficult😭

hi hello!! i'm super interested in getting into midnighter comics, do you have any recommendations for where to get started?? your recs have been so helpful for my comics journey so far, i truly owe you my life 🙏 just read the knight thanks to your suggestion and LOVED it, court of owls is up next
well okay this ask just made my whole day what the hell, this is what i like about comics the most, just sharing and talking about them
anyway, from the top, theres this superhero team in a world without jl, they work for the un and they are called stormwatch!
the first stormwatch comic is stormwatch 1993, i tried to read it and its genuinely awful, BUT some time after it starts, warren ellis takes over and hes genuinely a new type of god and fixes the whole thing but full disclosure i havent read it properly cause the start is so bad
the second stormwatch is stormwatch 1997, also written by ellis (saver of worlds) where midnighter and apollo (do not separate) make their first appearance! its an incredibly solid introduction and it goes from chapter #4 to #6, u can skip the rest, wont lose much context
now we start with the big guns, stormwatch is dismantled and the authority is created, a superhero (antihero) team working outside the law, and it starts with the authority 1999, where midnighter (and apollo do not separate) are finally main characters, i genuinely loved this comic so much SO MUCH
the story continues with the authority 2003, which im currently reading and is not by ellis (patron of writers), so i cannot tell u yet how itll work out but im enjoying it thus far
then (cause i havent read more stuff in between yet) comes midnighter 2007, this one is complicated? the first 10 chapters are extremely fun and enjoyable, basically episodic, mostly written by garth ennis (not quite as godly but pretty nice), then a new guy picks up the series, makes a whole saga with no apollo in it and its terrible so just... just drop it on chapter 10 ill allow it
then the n52 happens and its v confusing and scary
but then we have midnighter 2015, i have good and bad news, the bad news is its a grayson 2014 spinoff so u may be a bit lost on some context but the good news is this comic is REALLY good, its fun, its a finished story, its midnighter learning to be a person and not a killing machine, and its one of my favorite comics as of rn
lastly theres midnighter and apollo 2016 and like... i went to my bookstore to order a physical copy yesterday i am so in love with it, its aesthetically beautiful and the story is insane, basically midnighter goes to hell to save apollo but apollo is already doing a pretty good job cause hes freaking apollo
as a bonus, there are three small stories, the authority: kev, the authority: more kev and the authority: the magnificent kevin all written by ennis about a guy called kevin who actively sucks as a person and how he manages to fuck up everything all the time and piss off midnighter to no end, they are hilarious
as a disclaimer of sorts: midnighters stories, specially the ones by ellis and ennis, are comics for adults in a way batmans arent, batman is dark and sometimes scary, but these comics talk about sex, drug adiction, racism, bigotry and make fun of them, i do bow for them though, they are gritty and pretty edgy but not tasteless

No crunking, but lots of haterating and hollerating and even some situations:
BRUTE FORCE (1947): Aptly named prison drama about a group of convicts (including Burt Lancaster, Charles Bickford, and radio actor Howard Duff) in a battle of wills and wits with the sadistic guard captain Munsey (Hume Cronyn). Forcefully directed by Jules Dasssin and certainly vivid, but the few moments of levity the Richard Brooks screenplay provides — such as a droll flashback sequence where former conman Spencer (John Hoyt, who later played Dr. Phillip Boyce in the original STAR TREK pilot) affectionately recalls the slick dame (Anita Colby) who once robbed him with his own gun — serve mostly to demonstrate that there's not enough light moments, even for such a determinedly grim and downbeat story. Worse, since the main action takes place entirely within the prison, women (including Ella Raines, Ann Blyth, and future TV Batgirl Yvonne De Carlo as well as Anita Colby) appear only in brief flashbacks. The film's main attraction is its superb acting — and even Lancaster's brooding sex appeal is somewhat overshadowed by Hume Cronyn's towering performance as the magnificently detestable Munsey. CONTAINS LESBIANS? Nope. VERDICT: Compelling in fits and starts, and Cronyn's Munsey is one of the screen's greatest villains, but it's so oppressive that your attention may start to wander, especially if neither Lancaster nor Cronin is currently onscreen.
HOTEL COCAINE Season 1 (2024): Colorful but sloppy Chris Brancato crime drama, based (apparently very loosely) on the life of a real person, Cuban exile and CIA asset Roman Compte (played, weakly, by Danny Pino), who, as the general manager of Miami's Mutiny Hotel, presided over the heyday of coke-fueled late '70s South Florida hedonism. Brancato uses this as a backdrop for a disappointingly ordinary gangster story, giving Compte a fictional older brother, Nestor Cabal (Yul Vázquez), indistinguishable from Brancato's previous fictionalization of Cuban cop/gangster José Battle Sr. in GODFATHER OF HARLEM (where he was also played by Vázquez), and pitting the brothers against a renegade DEA agent (Michael Chiklis) and an invading Columbian cartel led by Gilberto Henao (Juan Pablo Raba). Despite the title, the Mutiny setting is surprisingly under-utilized; the main plot is cliché-ridden and often listless; and the action is broken up by periodic fits of weird comic relief involving nervous acid-freak hotel owner Burton Greenberg (Mark Feuerstein), including bizarre appearances by Hunter S. Thompson (John Ventimiglia) and Rick James (Larry Powell) in the first two episodes. Pino is barely adequate in the lead, and it sometimes seems like Brancato foolishly expects viewers to find Roman sympathetic, which he really never is, even compared to his antagonists. The only real reasons to bother with the show are its Latina characters, including Roman's spunky teenage daughter Valeria (Corina Bradley); his sympathetic girlfriend Marisol (Tania Watson); and in particular Gilberto's sexy and sadistic Mexican enforcer/girlfriend Yolanda (Mayra Hermosillo). Alas, Laura Gordon is awful as Roman's loyal right-hand woman Janice, while Michael Chiklis, who had made such a strong impression as the antiheroic Vic Mackey on THE SHIELD, is just laughable as DEA agent Zulio. CONTAINS LESBIANS: Not in any meaningful way. VERDICT: Never dull, but too arch to be credible and yet not over the top enough to rival De Palma's SCARFACE, and unlike the similar but better-realized GODFATHER OF HARLEM, it has no particular insights to offer about either its era or its setting.
SEX-POSITIVE (2024): Cute but very dumb sex comedy, directed by Peter Woodward (who also co-scripted with Marie Kirby) about a down-on-her-luck young woman (Katherine Ellis) who moves into a New Orleans commune and, after her initial shock has subsided, becomes part of its loose-knit polycule of ongoing sex parties. The story tries hard to live up to its title, with mixed results: It largely avoids the performative dread sex comedies often evince at the idea of same-gender sex, and it even takes a few flailing stabs at body positivity, but much of its humor is still founded on the idea that people having a lot of (semi-public, maybe mildly kinky) sex is inherently outrageous, which means that if you don't blush and giggle at the mere idea of a sex party, the movie is only occasionally funny. On the other hand, it's refreshing to see a modern sex comedy that doesn't shy away from nudity, allows the characters to actually have sex rather than just talking about it, and doesn't paint the characters' promiscuous lifestyle as a moral failing that has to eventually be recanted. CONTAINS LESBIANS: Yes, although the script leans a little too hard on the idea that anything other than complete sexual fluidity is somehow regressive. VERDICT: In a less prudish cultural climate, a low-wattage comedy like SEX-POSITIVE would barely rate a yawn, but in an era of rampant self-censorship and dreary bourgeoisie repression, its dopey, good-natured smuttiness is sort of endearing.
SUNRISE AT CAMPOBELLO (1960): Okay Dore Schary film adaptation (directed by Vincent Donehue) of Schary's Tony-winning play, starring Ralph Bellamy (reprising his award-winning stage role) as Franklin Delano Roosevelt, recently stricken with infantile paralysis and struggling to decide if he can still have a political future, with Greer Garson as Eleanor, Ann Shoemaker as Franklin's imperious mother Sara, and Hume Cronyn as his friend and political advisor Louis Howe. At first, both Bellamy and Garson seem like they're overplaying their roles, with a bigness more suited to stage than screen; Garson's performance never really stops feeling like caricature, but Bellamy eventually disappears into his part and becomes surprisingly convincing. Cronyn and Shoemaker are both excellent, and extensive use of location shooting (including scenes staged in the Roosevelts' actual homes) keeps the film from feeling objectionably stage-bound, but the narrative's emphasis on the heroism of overcoming chronic illness (a struggle FDR took great pains to conceal as much as possible) is awfully sticky at points, and if you're not American, you may wonder what all the fuss is about. CONTAINS LESBIANS: There have been arguments for years about Eleanor (in particular surrounding her relationship with reporter Lorena Hickok), but you'll find none of that here. VERDICT: As biopics go, it's pretty top-drawer, but if you're not a history buff or don't care about the Roosevelts, it probably won't hold your interest.

I'm the anon who sent the hitman AU idea, and you did amazing❤️❤️ I like the vibes with this one, and the antihero vibe on joel is strong in this one (he orphanaged her, kidnapped her and is lying about being her biological father wtf) but yet somehow you wrote him as a pookie bear (when he's with ellie tho. the moment she fell asleep, I felt the vibe change and the cold hitman persona return)
yay i’m so glad you liked it 🥹🥹🥹 literally nothing makes me feel better than the person who gave me the idea liking the way it turned out 😭 and yeah i tried to walk the line between the heartless joel we know he can sometimes be (and we love him) and the dad joel who grabs boggle to cheer up his kid!
thank you so much for the suggestion and again i’m so glad you enjoyed it! 🥹🥰😘💋

i adore this season of The Last of Us BUT they fucked up one very important thing: Joel is not a traumatized antihero, he's a traumatized villain. We know he killed innocent people "to survive" and dragged his brother down into the gutter with him, just because neither of them knew how else to survive without depending on violence. in the last episode, they had Joel sparing the lives of those nurses. Bullshit. The fact that Joel killed all those people mercilessly, including the unarmed ones, is one of the big reasons that the story in the game hits so hard. his completely merciless violence against anyone who he doesn't personally care about is the most important part of this character, and later Ellie's character, and the show is sugarcoating it in order to make Joel more sympathetic.

Who should play Black Beetle in a Blue Beetle Sequel?
Tumblr media
In anticipation of my most anticipated movie of the year, I have been watching/reading as much Blue Beetle content as I can directly blast into my eyeballs.
My personal favorite of the bunch is the second season of Young Justice. While he starts off as a secondary character, Blue Beetle quickly becomes to protagonist of the season, and even gets his own rival in the form of alien villain Black Beetle.
Tumblr media
Black Beetle is one of my favorite villains in the show. He simultaneously represents how powerful Jaime could be and how dangerous he could be if he goes rogue.
I do think if we get more Blue Beetle content in the future, Black Beetle will be a main physical antagonist in the same way Conrad Carapax is in this next film.
Tumblr media
I thought it would be fun to give my fancast for the character.
To be clear, I am not casting Black Beetle of the comics, who is a time traveling swinder, I am casting Black Beetle of Young Justice, who is a reach enforcer.
So apologies Black Beetle comic stans.
Tumblr media
Essential Characteristics?
Tumblr media
Black Beetle is a force. Being able to take on whole teams, including Kryptonians, Atlanteans, Amazonians and Martians. He is smart on the battlefield and understands how to use his scarab better than anyone.
We need someone who feels cocky and dangerous. He cherishes the thought of a battle but often doesn't find a real one.
Black Beetle is also devoted to the conquering of other planets for the Reach. We want someone who can seem loyal to his people, even if what he is doing is insane and hurting others. Think Zod in Man of Steel.
Tumblr media
Other Stipulations?
Tumblr media
Our Blue Beetle Xolo is about 6 ft tall. We want an actor larger than him.
While a tank like Dave Batista is ideal, I think we can settle for big instead of massive.
Our Black Beetle should feel older and wiser than Jaime, but in their prime as a warrior. Maybe mid 30s to mid 40s.
Black Beetle is voiced by a person of color, and while normally I don't think it matters for aliens, for this I would like to keep it.
Blue Beetle is a mainly hispanic cast, and I think keeping the cast mostly people of color is pretty special.
Tumblr media
As always, I don't like casting people known for other big superhero roles. So my boy Batista is out.
3. Jay Ellis
Tumblr media
Known for his roles in Insecure and Top Gun Maverick, it's amazing to me Jay Ellis has not had a major role in a superhero movie.
In Insecure as Lawrence, he showed emotional and comedic range, going toe to toe with big names like Issa Rae.
Ellis is also insanely built. He has the physicality needed I think to play such a role. Just look up Top Gun Maverick honestly.
While I think he can physically embody the role well and play an antagonistic villain, but with this much charisma, it may come off too heroic. I wonder if he is better suited for a Lantern down the line.
2. Regé Jean-Page
Tumblr media
I was very torn between my second and first choice. Originally, this was my guy.
Regé Jean Page is a fantastic actor.
Known for roles in Bridgerton and Dungeons and Dragons, Page is known for playing Brawlers with a bit of a dark side. While these tend to be heroic, I think as a villain those skills can be well utilized.
While he is not the force Black Beetle usually is, Page could play a Black Beetle so knowledgable, it's terrifying still to come up against him.
Much like Ellis, I worry Page may be better suited for a heroic or antiheroic role. He was on the short list for Seg-El in the show Krypton, which tells me he gives more Superman than General Zod.
1. O'Shea Jackson Jr.
Tumblr media
I've been following Jackson's career ever since he played his father, and I gotta say, the guy's incredible.
Known for roles in Cocaine Bear, Straight Outta Compton, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ingrid Goes West, the man has charisma and acting chops to spare.
What I love him for particularly in this role is his intimidating nature in Straight Outta Compton. He is swinging bats, fighting with his fellow rappers, and even using his words to put down terrible reporters disrespecting him.
To me that's Black Beetle, the baddest guy in the room and he knows it.
Tumblr media
Jackson also has a swagger about him that doesn't come off as, let's just say douchey, compared to the others on this list. While the other two would be great for love interests or heroes, Jackson has that right energy for the strongest guy in the room.
While he is 5'11, I think Jackson has enough pure acting chops to play an incredible villain. One that could really put the fear in Jaime Reyes.
Tumblr media
I'd be extremely happy to see him don the suit, and have an incredible beetle vs beetle battle.

sub au for my Danny has Talia au
Damian finds out he has siblings as in Elle and Dan because of time travel shenanigans. It's an accidental future time travel Damien has taken over as phantom, Ellie with the hero name Wrath and Dan as banshee.
The bat family is meeting the future bat family and Damian off-handedly mentioned Ellie and Dan. The family expects these two to be future adoptees when he drops the fact that they're on a mission with his mom. They start asking if Talia is now an ally and Damian says technically but they're on a mother-child bonding trip that they've Disguised as a mission. It's after this that Damian drops another bomb on the fact that both of them are his full-blooded biological siblings.
The bat family starts asking where the hell they are in their timeline. Older Damien looks his father dead in the eyes and shrugs. He has Danny's chaos.
I think it would be really funny for them just to find out how the three of his kids are doing in whatever timeline this is happening.
Damien is a hero named Phantom that the family later learns is taken from Talia's hero name that they didn't know she had and he uses Lazarus Magic( it's ghost Zone/ infinite realms Magic).
The daughter Bruce didn't know he had is a antihero named Wrath who he later finds out accidentally became a chaos God.( all of Talia and Bruce children have the potential to become gods but he does not know that)
A son using the code name banshee that Bruce was not expecting that nonchalantly talks about The Times They were evil And the fact they've probably ended the world multiple times.

These people are really embarrassing... No matter how many times we explain to them, they will remain in their delirium, because the most plausible truth does not interest them. Do they realize that they are essentially shipping two individuals with the same age difference as Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us? It's fucking awkward. Also, it's crazy this insistence on this fucking tower. They know or not the story with Jonquil at least? Because we wouldn't say to come to take this tower for a symbol of love... But that only proves their non-knowledge of the GRRM universe. The simple fact that they never talk about the fact that this man has never described a relationship with this age difference in a positive way. Daemon is an antihero, and there's no reason GRRM wrote a script of him grooming Nettles. And there's no reason he would suddenly want to change his writing habit and suddenly do a big romance with characters with those kind of age differences. It is not for nothing that it is very clearly specified that there is no proof of this so-called romantic and sexual relationship. Maybe just to indicate that it's just a big bullshit. Also, I'm tired of seeing the argument slammed on the floor of the windows which breaks on the cry of Caraxes. As if it was the ultimate proof of a romance when it proves nothing at all? It's so embarrassing. Also, if Nettles crying when leaving Daemon is proof of romance, I conclude that she was also in love with Jace, since she cried for him when he died... No really they are amazing bullshit. Also, is it just me or are they just making it up? Because I remember Nettles and Daemon only spent 2 weeks together. Not several months. This kind of post gives me a headache. I've seen people say once that Nettles would lose all narrative sense and her essence as a character if she wasn't Daemon's lover too... So-called fans of Nettles and Daemon don't care really to Nettles for saying that. Or even understand the basic narrative. Nettles doesn't have to be Daemon's lover to make sense and be useful to the story. The only essential interest in this mess is that RHAENYRA THINKS THEY HAVE AN AFFAIR! Not that they really had one. In short, it's just hopeless. These people are delusional.
Tumblr media
For me, the thing's settled until GRRM comes out with some damning information.

usually a visual artist disliking comic books in general is someting that immediately makes me go to instant dismissal of whatever they have to say but I give Bill Watterson a hesitant pass on this, not specifically because of his artistic contributions, but because everything I've seen him speak directly about it (which isn't much), seems to be a damning criticism of the Dark Age of comics specifically; Calvin And Hobbes was written during the expanse of murderous and callous antiheroes dominating the genre (and to this day there is still a petulant persistence in people claiming that Real Mature Art is only about those sort of characters), and while Watterson remarked that 'comics are stupid', he prefaced this statement about what was very clearly the hallmarks of the Dark Age of comics; murderous heroes, gratuitous violence, blood and gore, ect.
this is about the only thing I've seen him speak directly about it. one sunday panel shows Calvin getting deeply disturbed and overwhelmed by the graphic violence (in a very well executed imitation of the Liefeldian style) and turning on cartoons, only for his mom to complain about the violence on TV
in comparison, Calvin's Stupendous Man fantasy seems much more based on the likes of Superman and potentially Captain Marvel/Shazam; if its parody born from dislike, its not actually much different from the vast majority of the sorts of things Calvin fantasizes about, and I don't believe I've seen Watterson speak critically about, say, the noir or Flash Gordon-era of sci fi genres. it feels like mildly snarky parody at the worst
the likes of Sandman and Swamp Thing WERE written at roughly the same time as Calvin And Hobbes' publication, but i'm not sure if they would have been on Watterson's radar; truth be told I'd LOVE to hear his opinion on them to see his thoughts and perhaps clarify the matter; if he has a broader dislike of comics, it wouldn't much help that the likes of Warren Ellis, Frank Millar, Rob Liefeld and their edgelord ilk dominated the genre and unfortunately still do. Which is a shame; the likes of Chris Claremont's almost soap opera storylines, Gaiman's stellar work on Sandman and pretty much everything ever done by Grant Morrison all deserve significantly greater attention than those edgelords.
(given how Tawky Tawny the talking tiger was at one point reimagined as something similar to Hobbes in the late 90s, there's a fun back and forth element there of adaptations, but I digress)
