✨hey kitty !! I'm gonna start this off by saying that I can't believe we didn't start writing together sooner esp since we're both in the eshuverse server BUT I'm so glad that we did.

You're so easy and fun to talk to, you have alot of range with your characters and you can clearly tell their different voices -- you get them down vv well and it's genuingly so fun to write with you

I am super glad we have too! You're super awesome! I do have a slight explanation as to why it took so long at least in regards to the Eshu server, I joined the AU right before my homing emergency so I never finished up setting up my lore & characters so while I have been in the au for around a year I haven't really been able to be active. Also I am just a alarmingly shy & working on that.

Now onto the other thing. Thank you so much! I put a lot of thought into my characters voices because I want them all to feel like their own person, like I have yet to write guides to how I write them but I pay attention to things like the filler sounds and words they use, what lingo they might use, how they structure their sentences.

To use to characters you know well, a big difference between how Harley Quinn & Jerome Napier talk is that Harley tends to have open sentences, ones that invite reply and she often asks questions & will often add gentle alternatives to things she disagrees with.

Meanwhile Jerome tends to have more closed off sentences that often lean towards almost sounding like the end of a conversation, he also often will just outright say to not do something if he dislikes it without other suggestions and he very rarely asks questions, tending to prefer to suggest a theory he has instead and ask for confirmation.

And like that is two examples of some of the thought I put into my character voices! So I am really glad it pays off.

And I am really glad that I am fun & easy to talk to! I do try my best to be a socialable person and I really enjoy talking to you too!

And I have been having a blast writing with you as well!

So I’m thinking of an AU similar to the Crisis On Two Earths movie, which basically just means I’m stealing the good Lex and Joker and changing them a bit, and adding some of the other villains for good measure.

Lex, in addition to being a hero instead of a villain, has Superman’s powers, so in his universe he fell from space and Clark Kent is a corrupt businessman. He’s also maybe a little Autistic and he has a newton’s cradle on his desk.

Jester is Joker’s counterpart and in his daily life he washes off his face paint and goes by Jack Napier despite the huge scars at the sides of his mouth. He’s great with kids and he knows how to blow balloon animals and juggle, and he likes cards and dice. He gets cold easily. He’s married to Harley, who in this AU still goes by Harleen. She probably hyphenated their names.

I can’t do anything DC without Mr. Freeze. In this AU, Nora died and the only reason Victor is a hero is because he thinks it’s what she would want and she’d be proud of him. And also because if he’s left alone with his thoughts for more than five minutes, he’ll kill everyone in the room and then himself. Jester loves to tinker, so he’s created Victor a fancy suit that allows him to use his powers without a gun. He also has diving versions since he loves to swim. His bedroom is a walk-in freezer.

1. Sweet Talk/The Harlequin (Harleen Quinzel)

Originally contracted to work as a psychiatrist for the Tartarus villain redemption program, Sweet Talk had a unique relationship with the Joker. This relationship was proven to be even stranger than her coworkers had originally assumed when she broke him out and joined him in his life of crime.

Devoting herself entirely to her new life and relationship with the joker, she covers her original cutie mark at all times. Snce her horn was snapped she can no longer cast precise spells, leaving her magic mostly emotion-based and intensely volatile, (typically manifesting in the form of sparks, zaps, and explosions).

Other Notes:

-Using Tartarus as a substitute for Arkham Asylum for this au because why not.

-The villain redemption program did NOT go well. Sorry Twilight.

-Mostly based on BTAS Harley because I adore the original costume.

-Her horn was cracked by the Joker

2. Pudding Pie/The Joker (The Joker)

Batpony’s most notorious foe. Said to have been just a regular pony until he fell into a vat at an Ace Potions factory during a conflict with Batpony.

He doesn’t have a Cutie Mark, but it’s unclear whether this was always the case or instead a result of his accident. The effects of permanent Cutie Mark loss—the only known cases of which occurred via long-banned magic and/or traumatic injury—are largely unstudied, and it’s ramifications are unknown. Some ponies theorize this may be the reason for the Joker’s mental state and general disposition.  

Sundown has a different opinion on the matter.

Other notes:

-Based mostly on BTAS joker and the ‘89 Nicholson joker.

-His name is just based on Harley’s “pudding” nickname for in in a lot of versions, but I think it would also be hilarious if he was a distant relative of Pinkie Pie.

-I could leave it ambiguous but. Yeah the potion vat didn’t actually do anything beyond slightly altering his physical appearance. He’s just like that and he never got a cutie mark in the first place.

3. Gadiel/Scarecrow (Jonathan Crane)

Raised among ponies, Gadiel was relentlessly bullied for being gangly and birdish, earning him the nickname “Scarecrow” in his youth. Though he later successfully became a professor and psychologist in Gotham, Gadiel was eventually fired when he was found to be testing his fear-inducing potions on his students and purposefully putting them through terrifying and dangerous situations. Deciding to take his experiments to the masses, Gadiel donned the mantle of Scarecrow and weaponized fear to become a career criminal.

As the Scarecrow, he’s known for his skill in manipulation, psychological torture, and crafting dangerous potions and gas. The effects of fear on magical creatures are unique and intense, much to Gadiel’s delight and interest.

Other Notes:

-I wanted to make his front half a crane but I couldn’t get the long neck to work right with the mask, so he’s more crow-like instead.

-according to the wiki 1/3 of Griffin names start with a G so naturally I was extremely tempted to name him Gonathon and you should all be very grateful I did not. The name Gadiel has origins in the bible as the name of an archangel which I thought was fitting given the insane religious trauma some versions of the scarecrow went through. I thought about trying to do something similar for this version but given that the mlp universe uses Princess Celestia as a replacement for God in expressions like “Celestia knows where” and “Oh my Celestia” I wasn’t really sure how to go about it. There’s probably some kind of sun-worshipping thing in equestria idk.

-I spent a long time on the mlp wiki but from what I could find the only “fear” magic in the show is just used by one guy and its just called “dark magic”. I thought for sure there would’ve been some random plant or magical creature they dealt with at some point that maybe did something similar I could use for his blurb but unfortunately there was not.

4. Mandible/Falseface (Basil Karlo/Matt Hagen)

Hungry and deeply resentful of the changeling queen for forcing her underlings to share what little stolen love they had with her, Mandible went rogue early on and split off from the hive to pursue his own ventures. Finding success under the name Claypose as a pony actor in Gotham, he was sustained primarily by the one-sided love of his fans for years, despite the false identity having no real prior personal relationships to leech from. 

After a magical special effects accident on set revealed his true nature, he went into hiding and immediately started crafting a new persona, but soon found in his distress and rage over losing his identity as Claypose that he could no longer sustain any disguise long enough to keep up a long-term facade. Blaming the accident, he targeted the unicorn responsible by posing as his wife to leech his love, but ended up killing the pony in a panic when his disguise failed much faster than he’d anticipated it would. Unable to keep up a new identity or return to the hive, Mandible turned to a life of crime instead, doing dirty work for the bigger criminal names in Gotham and leeching love from his employer’s targets to survive.

Other notes:

-Clayface being a changeling was an obvious pick given his power set but I really wasn’t sure how to tackle the main issue of him being unable to keep a solid form for long. I went with his distress and frustration being the main thing keeping his disguise flimsy (so he gets put in kind of an ourobouros cycle where his disguise being bad makes him upset but him being upset makes it harder to fix his disguise), but the magic accident probably also contributed somehow.

-Why are all the changelings straight up just named after body parts in this show whats that about. The “Clay” in Claypose is obviously a reference to his title/schtick in the comics while the “pose” comes from both his job as an actor and the fact that he’s posing as a pony. Mandible is the name for the jaw part of an insect.

3. Winglon/Killer Drake (Waylon Jones)

Originally intended to be used in an entrance exam, his egg was stolen from a Canterlot delivery cart on its way to Celestia’s school of magic and sold on the black market to a Pony Island circus. Raised to be part of the freak show, Winglon was pitted against circus performers and overconfident challengers in ring fights for money and entertainment. Enduring abuse and injury throughout his life from ponies that he was always fundamentally stronger than, it was only a matter of time until he snapped. Garnering the name Killer Drake for his actions, Winglon escaped into the Gotham sewer system.

Not knowing how to return to the dragonlands or whether he’d even fit into dragon society at all, he continues to lurk in the dark away from any life, deeply resenting ponies and all other manner of magical creatures that make friends with them.

Other notes:

-I like silly names ok. Winglon Jones. -I like the theory that the dragon egg used for Twilight’s entrance exam was actually fake/meant to be a no-win scenario, but I also don’t think it would be that hard for enterprising ponies to get their hands on dragon eggs. The practice probably stopped in the later seasons when they made friends with the dragonlands or whatever though.

-Given that dragons threaten to eat or kill ponies at multiple points in the show, the cannibalism is actually kind of understandable. And also not even cannibalism anymore. Still murder though.

Something happened that made it necessary for Danny, Dani, Jazz, Sam, and Tucker to be reincarnated into the DC universe. They don't remember a single thing about their past lives (or even feel a vague recollection of each other) until they get sucked into a ridiculous situation involving magic, alternate versions of themselves, and a ghost from an alternate dimension with a grudge.

Tucker as Michael Holt, aka Mr Terrific. Or Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, if you prefer. Both work pretty well personality wise and tech wise. (yes they were the first two that popped into my head that wasn't lex, bruce, or barbara how did you know? but now that i'm thinking about it maybe toyman would work too personality wise.)

Sam as Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy. I was toying with the idea of Mari McCabe, aka Vixen, but decided against it because their ideologies don't match as well and Mari is more level headed in my opinion.

Jazz as Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn. Although, I did want to make her Joan Leland because she did successfully rehabilitate an arkham inmate and wasn't an inmate herself, but there's not much info I can find on her.

Dani as M'gann M'orzz, aka Miss Martian or Megan Morse. Although, it could make sense to make her either of the Wonder Girls (Donna or Cassie) or Supergirl (Kara) or Mary Marvel (Mary Bromfeild).

Danny as Hal Jordan. I was tempted to make him Clark, but personality and goal wise, it doesn't make sense. Hal on the other hand makes a lot of sense once you think about it.

Presenting the fabulous Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy!! My interpretations of them at least! This was such a blast to do, it's so fun to re-imagine characters. More info on them under the readmore!

Harleen Quinzel was a young university student studying to become a psychologist when she fell into a whirlwind romance with her professor. Said professor was secretly the Joker, who was in disguise after his latest near-death in an attempt to let the heat die down. He noticed Harley's intelligence, anger and traumatic background, and decided to try a little experiment with her. A year later she was breaking him out of Arkham and committing murder, after being kidnapped and mentally conditioned to trust the Joker and crave violence. The Joker is good at manipulating her, but he often gets distracted by other things, or forgets his plans for her, leaving Harley chances to try and wiggle out of his control.

Pamela Isley was experimented on by a mad scientist, along with several others who sadly did not survive. Tortured and abused, when her powers fully manifested she wasted no time in killing him and escaping. Now she lives in Gotham, having taken over an entire neighbourhood. She uses most of her powers remotely, so no one yet knows whose responsible for her 'Eco-terrorist' actions. She's deeply afraid of relying on her powers, which seem to corrupt her the more she uses them. Her powers are almost unmatched at her fullest form, which resembles a giant kaiju more than a human, but she's barely conscious by that point. She has a hard time interacting with others, and mostly spends her time alone.

Her dad mind controlled her at times and she went back to being evil. She has precognitive powers and enhanced healing. Shes deeply paranoid about her place in the teen titans when shes on the team. im not even the peak babs stan and im sure theres other people who can explain it better but shes a really complex and interesting character and an undeniable girlboss. as the information centre of the superhero world as the mysterious oracle after being paralysed by the joker, she takes up a central role working alongside the infamously morally grey suicide squad with the dubiously villainous amanda waller, before becoming a core member of the bataman family in the 90s and 00's and leader of the birds of prey. shes tried to shoot people before despite working with batman. she manipulates her teammates. shes deeply morally complex and has an interestng relatonship with batmans code. she deserves to win because dc has done her horribly for the last decade plus, erasing her competence and her disability to regress her from a mature and complex woman and a cornerstone of the superhero community alongside some of dc's only disability representation; to a rookie hero or nightwing's arm candy. she fucking rules. dont hate.

Paul Dini: When Bruce and I did the Harley and Ivy miniseries, it was certainly implied that [Ivy and Harley] had a relationship with each other—they shared hugs and kisses. I didn’t want that to overpower what the story was, but the relationship between them is so natural.

Paul Dini: The more I worked with [Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy], the more I could see [a romantic relationship] happening. Unfortunately, at the time, in an animated kids cartoon, you really couldn’t get into the complexity of that or honor what a relationship like that could really be. We just showed them together as friends and on fairly intimate terms when they were out of the costume, but nothing was implicit because if we couldn’t do that relationship properly then we didn’t want to do it at all.

I am aware this last one isn't technically in the BTAS universe, but later on in the novel, it blends into the Mad Love comic/episode and then goes past it. I only used scenes that were originally featured in the comic/episode as they are just those scenes in a purely written form.

She cuddled up next to him and took him in her arms. “I know how to make some smiles, puddin’,” she said in a playful, sultry voice. She started to beg him to let her in but suddenly all the fight went out of her and she sank down to sit cross-legged in front of the door. Thrown out again; how many times was this? She’d lost count. No, she hadn’t. This was the twenty-fifth time. In the next moment, Gordon thought the nitrous was making him hallucinate as events took a sharp turn into the surreal. The Joker grabbed the floppy points on Harley’s hat, pulling her to him so they were nose to nose. “I deliver the punchlines around here!” he bellowed into her face. “Got that?” “Yessir,” Harley Quinn said, her voice tiny and fearful. The Joker shoved her aside and the jolly Clown Prince of Crime persona was back.
