#Hexagon Wedding Cake

With the wedding ceremony over, it’s time to party!
Kana gets caught up with some of their friends and family sharing their congratulations, so she waves Ivy and Reed on to cut the cake. She’s not much of a sweet-toothed sim anyway, so she’ll sneak a small slice of cake later.
Reed and Ivy walk up to the wedding cake, which finally gets unveiled before them. Esme, Reed’s mum, takes a step back as she sweeps a delicate sheet of black lace off of the cake.
They haven’t seen the cake until now. Reed’s mum pulled out all the stops and made the perfect wedding cake! Three, hexagonal tiers stand tall with decadent chocolate cake inside. The icing reflects a speckled starscape, inky black sky with splashes of bright white stars. Even though Ivy picks up the knife to cut the cake, she hesitates. It’s too gorgeous to slice into!
Ivy hands the knife to Reed, curling her fingers around the knife handle. Ivy encloses Reed’s hand in hers, posing for some photos before cutting through the bottom tier.
Wedding guests huddle around the cake, hungry for a slice of the devine looking sponge inside!

How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Cake
Tumblr media
If you're planning your wedding, one of the most important decisions you'll have to make is what kind of cake you want. A wedding cake is not only a delicious dessert, but also a symbol of your love and commitment, a centerpiece of your reception, and a reflection of your personality and style. But with so many options out there, how do you find the one that suits you best? Here are some tips to help you choose the perfect wedding cake for your big day.
Consider Your Budget
Before you start browsing through Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration, you need to have a realistic idea of how much you can afford to spend on your wedding cake. According to The Knot, the average cost of a wedding cake in the US in 2019 was $500, but this can vary widely depending on the size, design, flavor, and baker you choose. Some factors that can affect the price of your cake are: - The number of servings: The more guests you have, the bigger the cake you'll need, and the more you'll pay. A good rule of thumb is to order one slice per guest, plus some extra for unexpected attendees or leftovers. - The shape and structure: Round cakes are usually cheaper than square or hexagonal ones, because they're easier to cut and serve. Stacked cakes are more expensive than single-tiered ones, because they require more support and stability. Sculpted or 3D cakes are the most costly, because they involve more labor and skill. - The decoration: The more elaborate and intricate the decoration, the higher the price. Fondant icing is usually more expensive than buttercream, because it's smoother and more durable. Fresh flowers, edible gold leaf, sugar flowers, lace, pearls, and other embellishments can also add to the cost. - The flavor and filling: The more complex and exotic the flavor and filling, the more you'll pay. Vanilla, chocolate, and lemon are usually cheaper than red velvet, carrot, or coconut. Buttercream, ganache, and cream cheese are usually cheaper than custard, mousse, or fruit curd. To save money on your wedding cake, you can: - Choose a simple design with minimal decoration - Opt for a smaller display cake and supplement it with sheet cakes or cupcakes - Order a naked or semi-naked cake without icing or frosting - Use fresh flowers or fruits instead of sugar flowers or other adornments - Stick to classic flavors and fillings that are in season
Match Your Theme and Venue
Another thing to consider when choosing your wedding cake is how it will fit with your overall theme and venue. You want your cake to complement your color scheme, style, and mood, as well as the setting and atmosphere of your reception. For example: - If you're having a rustic or boho wedding in a barn or outdoors, you might want a naked or semi-naked cake with fresh flowers or fruits, or a simple buttercream cake with natural elements like wood or greenery. - If you're having a classic or elegant wedding in a ballroom or hotel, you might want a fondant cake with smooth edges and sophisticated details like lace, pearls, or monograms. - If you're having a modern or minimalist wedding in a loft or museum, you might want a geometric cake with sharp angles and clean lines, or a marble cake with metallic accents. - If you're having a vintage or romantic wedding in a historic or garden venue, you might want a buttercream cake with ruffles or rosettes, or a naked cake with drips and macarons.
Choose Your Flavors and Fillings
One of the most fun parts of choosing your wedding cake is tasting different flavors and fillings. You want your cake to be delicious and satisfying for you and your guests, as well as match your preferences and personalities. Here are some tips to help you choose your flavors and fillings: - Think about what kind of flavors you like and dislike. Do you prefer something light and fruity, rich and chocolatey, spicy and nutty, or creamy and tangy? - Consider the season and the weather. Do you want something refreshing and cool for summer, cozy and warm for winter, bright and colorful for spring, or earthy and spicy for fall? - Try to balance the flavors and textures. Do you want something moist and fluffy, dense and fudgy, crunchy and crumbly, or smooth and creamy? - Don't be afraid to mix and match different flavors and fillings. Do you want to combine classic flavors like vanilla and chocolate, or experiment with exotic flavors like passion fruit and pistachio? - Sample different combinations before making your final decision. Do you want to taste them yourself, or invite your partner, family, or friends to join you? Some popular flavors and fillings for wedding cakes are: - Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream or cream cheese frosting - Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache or mocha buttercream frosting - Lemon cake with lemon curd or raspberry buttercream filling - Red velvet cake with cream cheese or white chocolate frosting - Carrot cake with cream cheese or caramel frosting - Coconut cake with coconut cream or pineapple filling - Almond cake with almond buttercream or apricot jam filling - Spice cake with cream cheese or apple butter filling
Find Your Baker
The last step in choosing your wedding cake is finding the right baker to make it for you. You want someone who can create the cake of your dreams, within your budget and timeline, and with professionalism and quality. Here are some tips to help you find your baker: - Do your research. Look online for reviews, ratings, and portfolios of local bakers. Ask your friends, family, or wedding planner for recommendations. Visit bridal shows, fairs, or expos to meet bakers in person and see their work. - Narrow down your options. Contact a few bakers who match your criteria and style, and ask them about their availability, pricing, and services. Request a consultation and a tasting session to discuss your vision and preferences. - Book your baker. Once you've found the baker you want to work with, sign a contract that outlines the details of your order, such as the size, design, flavor, filling, decoration, delivery, setup, and payment. Confirm your order a few weeks before your wedding date, and make any final adjustments if needed. Choosing the perfect wedding cake for your big day can be a daunting task, but it can also be a fun and rewarding one. By following these tips, you can find the cake that suits your taste, style, and budget, and that will make your wedding day even more special and memorable. #WeddingPlanning #WeddingDirectory #WeddingTips #Weddings #unitytheweddingdirectory #unity #weddingdirectory #weddingplanner #weddinginspiration #weddingideas #weddingcake Read the full article

Unique Candle Design Ideas
There are so many creative ways to use candles in your design plans. Let’s explore some unique candle design ideas that will make your home stand out or help you create an unforgettable occasion.
Weddings & Special Events
Candles can be used in a variety of ways at weddings and special events. Consider adding floating candles to your outdoor reception tables or creating a romantic atmosphere with votive holders or tea lights along the aisle. You can also put together centerpieces with large pillar candles in elegant holders.
Or mix things up by creating an interesting display with different sizes and shapes of glass containers filled with water, flowers, stones, shells, etc., then adding floating candles on top! The possibilities are endless!
Birthday Party Design Ideas with Candles
If you’re throwing a birthday party, why not add some fun candle décor? You could go with traditional birthday cake candles or even add colorful taper candles to cupcakes and other desserts.
If you want something more eye-catching, consider creating balloon garlands with battery-operated LED tealights inside them – these will make for some great Instagram pics! You can also string together flickering LED lights around your venue – this will give it a warm glow and help set the perfect mood.
Holiday Decorating Ideas with Candles
Candles are also great for holiday decorations! You can line your windowsills and mantelpieces with festive scented pillar or taper candles that match the season perfectly.
For Christmas time, try using red and white striped candy cane candles; for Halloween, use black bats and pumpkins; for Easter, use pastel eggs; etc. Another idea is to place battery-operated LED flameless pillar candles throughout your home – these will last longer than regular wax ones while still giving off a nice ambiance in every room of your house!
Decorative Candle Holders for Home Decor
In addition to adding warmth and glow to any room, decorative candle holders can be used as stand-alone pieces of art when displayed on shelves or mantels at home. Consider incorporating rustic candle holders made out of wood into your home décor scheme; they look especially nice when paired with natural elements such as dry branches and flowers in vases or pots.
You can also opt for modern pieces such as glass hurricane lamps that showcase tall taper candles; these look particularly striking when lit up at night time! Lastly, don’t forget about scented jarred candles – they make excellent additions to any room when used sparingly yet strategically placed around the house. For everyday home decorating, there are plenty of options when it comes to candle designs.
Consider trying out some geometric shapes (like hexagons) made from beeswax or soy wax that you can easily find online or at craft stores. If you’re feeling extra creative, why not make your own homemade dipped tapers? These look beautiful grouped together in sets for coffee table displays or hung from wall hooks with ribbon! And don’t forget about scent – try out various fragrances throughout the year depending on what you want your home to feel like!

The cake shop is a few steps away. So that’s where we go next.
Kai: Did everything go okay with picking out your dress?
Melisa: Yes, and we face timed with my mom, so she helped.
Kai: Will they make it out for the wedding tomorrow?
Melisa: Yes, they’ll be here.
Kai: Good
Me-Me and I both choose cake slices to sample. She chooses a three-tiered hexagonal masterpiece, and I pick something simple and pink.

12, 21, 19
(Is this late? Oops. Sorry!)
12: Favourite character to write about this year
Stephanie Brown, easy. She's my spirit animal, so I might be doing a touch of projecting, but I honestly don't care. She's just pure chaos in the best way. Some of my favourite lines that I've written are for her. Such as:
"What's up bitches? I brought donuts!"
"My waffles await!"
"FEAR ME!"
"Welcome to Steph’s Glitter Bomb Palace, Where Snitches get Stitches™! So don’t tell Bruce or I’ll sic Jason on you."
She's also the character I've gotten the most comments on. People really seen to enjoy how I write her!
A close second would be Duke Thomas. Bliss, a fic I wrote for the 2020 Duke Week, was one of my favourites! Or maybe Damian? His dialogue just comes easy to me.
21: Most memorable comment/review
the batfamily exist:
everyone: is,,is that allowed?
On Code Orange (Batfam/Young Justice Crossover)
*Or*
I have wanted to read a DCU/MCU crossover for a VERY long time. This story is such a delight. Your characterisation (and for me an introduction to The Signal) was fascinating in the extreme. I loved the game playing and the fact that I could watch (open-mouthed) as Bruce Wayne enjoyed childlike fun with his children and Alfred(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) was the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake. I look forward to your updates in a way that you wouldn't believe.
On Batfam/Avengers Crossover
19: Any new fics to start next year
Oh boy. So many. You know what? Here's a list. It'll be good to get these ideas out. Plus, you guys can tell me what you'd rather see first!
Gen/just Batfam
Crack fic based off this piece of dialogue (came from a convo between my sister and I): Tim reached forward and poked Duke's face. "You're right!" He exclaimed. "You really *do* squish like a block of wood!" Duke Centric.
Based on THIS Incorrect Quotes. Talia moves into the Manor because she's sick of Ra's. Featuring a bunch of good mom!Talia.
Based off THIS Incorrect Quotes. Jason runs for President as Red Hood. I have so many ideas! This'll be really fun.
Loosely based on THIS post. It explores Jason and Cassandra's relationship, and how it evolves.
Duke Thomas Big Bang Fic (can't say much, but it'll be great!)
Platonic (need to be certain you understand that. There were some misconceptions w/ my Discord server) Slow Burn between Tim and Damian. At the beginning the absolutely despise each other. But over time they realise their own insecurities, and how they don't actually hate the other. And by the end they fully admit and embrace their being brothers.
Reverse Robins with Damian as the oldest (I made THIS post talking about it a while back. But I've highly revised it.)
Reverse Robins with Duke as the oldest (I wrote THIS fic, but I think I want to change this into a series!)
Cassandra as Batman. Stephanie as Catwoman. Carrie Kelley as Robin.
5 Times Bette Kane was the mastermind behind the batkids' pranks without Bruce's knowledge, and 1 Time her brilliance was brought to light.
5 Times Duke thought that he couldn't possibly get any more siblings and 1 Time he met the cousins (AKA: Duke meets the extended family)
Birdflash
Birdflash in the JL/JLU universe (based off that one hexagon by @novaviis ! Super fun!). The league is inviting potential members to the Watchtower one day. Except Wally wasn't there during the choosing of said members. So he's completely shocked when his husband Nightwing shows up. They have to act like they don't know each other, which basically involves Dick flirting his butt off with Wally, Wally trying desperately to remain professional, Bruce digging in the corner, the rest of the League in varying degrees of disapproval and confusion (at least a couple have seen Wally's wedding ring. So that adds a while 'nother layer).
Young Justice soulmate au. Dick, and eventually everyone else, knows that Wally is his soulmate. Wally is oblivious. Lots of pining and angst in this one. Slow burn to an extent (depends on how long I make it). But definitely a happy fluffy ending in sight!
Batfam Meets Young Justice
THIS fic.
Duke gets yeeted into the YJ universe, and promptly passes out. He wakes up in the Watchtower, and breaks out of the confinement the Team has set up for him. Pulls shenanigans (some unwittingly) and used his powers. The Team and JL are confused, and panicking. Because this guy keeps muttering things about the Batfam. And he has a bat on his chest.
The Team break into some ancient temple after getting info on a new Supervillian plot. They find purple clothed woman draped across a throne. She talks, and they panic, as she knows all their secret identities. The only one who isn't, is Tim. He looks bored. Alternatively: Steph needs Tim's credit card to take his sister out on a date, and absolutely refuses to text.
While the Team is on a mission to stop Lady Shiva, a dimensional portal opens up and spits out a strange Robin (Damian) and what seemed to be a female Batman (Cass as Black Bat). This new dynamic due promptly defeats Lady Shiva and all the goons. The Team is freaked out, and 'apprehends' the dimensional anomalies, bringing them back to the Watchtower. Where the due promptly break and and start chaos. Featuring "Toxic" by Britney Spears. I will not explain why.
The Watchtower gets a sudden emergency message from the Batcave. They accept, to find a stranger calling himself Signal panicking about Robin being missing. They all look at Tim, who ignores them, and says that he doesn't know where Robin is. Some naming shenanigans occur.
(Not sure if this fits here, oh well) Set in Season One, Bruce is tired of Clark's attitude towards Superboy, and adopts the clone himself. Not sure how far this'll go, but at least goes through Dick's time as Robin. (Based on THIS Tumblr post)
(Also iffy on placement) a continuation of one (not sure which? Probably Damian as older) Reverse Robins fics. It's a retelling of Season One of YJ, with Dick as Robin. Nightwing (Damian) feels protective of his brother, and so takes on the role Black Canary had in the show, training the Team. But as time goes on, he ends up being more of a big brother to the group. Cameos from the rest of the Batfam as well! And an Identity Reveal (including finding out Dick and Dami are brothers) at the end!
Batfam Meets the Justice League
Cass takes over being Batman for a bit, because Bruce was an idiot and broke his leg. This happens to line up with when the Justice League reach out to the Dark Knight, in order to extend an invitation to the league. They eventually meet Bruce as Batman, and are confused as to why he is so tall. And male.
Joyfire
Lian accidentally reveals her three parents' relationship by calling Bruce 'grandpa' over dinner.
Museum Heist
THIS fic
Operation: Seduce Nightwing. Based on a post for an ATLA ot3, Wally and Artemis realise silumaneously “Hey, we kinda have the hots for Dick” and decide together to see if he likes them back. Which involves a heck ton of over the top flirting, and shenanigans. The Team is sighing on the sidelines at their idiocy. Dick is internally combusting and thinking “Do they like me back? I’’m not sure.”
5 times Dick and Wally fought over being the middle spoon, and one time Artemis had had enough.
Set in Season 3 (but ignores some canon), Bart is kidnapped by some mad scientist obsessed with the Speed Force. The Team mobilizes, and gets Bart back from the evil base. But when they get there, they find Wally West freed from the Speed Force. He and Artemis reunite, and everyone is happy. They prepare to leave. Then the Pick-up Squad arrive in the bioship, and Dick gets out. Everyone is expecting Dick to give Wally a hug, because hey, he's his best friend! What they weren't expecting was him to run forward and pull the speedster into a passionate kiss. They go back to the Watchtower, and some more stuff happens.
Soulmate AU where the first thing your soulmate says to you after they fall in love with you is tattooed on your body.
Post Season Two Get Together. Starts with Artemis living with Dick as opposed to Will. Might be Slow Burn? (They come pretty close to kissing) Eventually Wally comes back. Arty and Wally are back together. They both live in the same house as Dick, for convenience. Then some more Slow Burn happens. Maybe some Birdflash moments. Arty tells Wally she kinda had a thing for Dick. Wally admits the same. Maybe a touch more Slow Burn. They Eventually get together.
Batlantern
AU where Bruce met Hal back when he first came back to Gotham. Fic goes through how their relationship evolves over the years (up until current time, when Damian is 13). I'm considering a relationship reveal with the Justice League.
Hal's interactions with Bruce's kids.
Green Lantern Corp acting protective of Hal when Bruce comes to Oa. This was an ask that I got, and I'm holding off on writing it till I get as much into on the GL's as possible, as all I know if their characterization comes from that animated series, and Guy Gardener's (Hilarious!) parts on Young Justice.
Marvel
Like 3 different versions of the Peter Parker Field Trip to Stark Tower Trope.
2-part Crossover with the Batfam (they exist in the same universe), where the Avengers go to a Wayne Gala, and interact with the family. The second chapter involves them heading out the next night to try and contact Batman.
THIS fic.

[START] [ABOUT AND WARNINGS] [FAQ]
Tumblr media
Steve/ Very, very untraditional.
“I am not very traditional,” you say.  “I think I want it to be something different.  That just reflects us, and that people remember as being unique and not just another wedding like every other wedding they go to.”
Steve raised his eyebrows at you.  “Non-traditional how?” He asked.  “I’m not sure I want a Vegas wedding.”
“No, not that,” you laugh.  “It has to be us.  But I can’t see myself wearing a big white dress, and then the whole fancy meal thing.  But, I know you like dancing so we can’t drop that part,” you pause and think for a moment.  “The most important thing is that we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together, right?  If I asked you somewhere very un-wedding-like that you love, what comes to mind?”
Steve chuckles and shakes his head.  “For some reason, the first place that popped into my head was Coney Island.  I have some pretty happy memories there back when I was a kid.  But we can't get married there can we?”
“Why not?” You ask.  “We can book the whole place out.  Get married in front of the cyclone and set up that whole area with a dance floor for a band, and food stations with little fancy bite-sized versions of carnival food.  Our guests could go on rides or dance and it would just be fun.  Oh - oh - maybe we could get Thor to officiate?  He's your family and what could be more special than being married by an actual god?”
A soft loving expression falls over Steve’s features.  He reaches over the table and cradles your jaw.  “I would never have considered something like that, but it does sound perfect.  The family I've chosen is having fun together as we take this new path.”  He smiles and caresses your cheek with his thumb.  “I knew there was a reason I fell in love with you,” he says, leaning over the table and kissing you deeply.
Tumblr media
There’s a lot that happens in the eighteen months between Steve proposing and your wedding.  You ask Hill to be your maid-of-honor because it’s her that led you to meet Steve in the first place.  Having Hill as your maid-of-honor, in turn, has led to the strangest of Bridal Showers and the wildest of bachelorette parties.  However, she’s the most organized person you know and able to pull strings to get things done that you would have thought is impossible.  She organizes every dress fitting and cake tasting that was needed along with things you haven’t even considered.
The ceremony’s going to be held in front of the cyclone in Luna Park.  You and Steve have booked out that entire side of the park, so it will just be you and your guests enjoying the day together without the crowds or prying eyes of the press and public.  It’s spring, so it won’t be too hot, and the day promises to be relaxed and fun.  Outside the Cyclone cafe, a dance floor had been set up with tables around it.  The tables aren’t as big as you would normally find at a wedding - most only fitting up to six people - and are white cast iron, decorated in red and yellow ribbons, and centerpieces that looked like rides such as carousels, Ferris wheels, and swing rides.
You have your own caterers but have paid for the use of the kitchen and all the food will be served floating so that people didn’t have to have a set table.  It means Steve won’t have to sit at a table in front of everyone while he eats.  He’s happy about that, though he isn’t totally sure about having only a carnival-themed menu, so among the mini-hot dogs, and cups of popcorn, peanuts, and cotton candy are also mini-quiches and shrimp skewers.
The cake is three-tiered and has been decorated so it subtly reflected a vintage big top, with red curtains and gold filigree made of gum paste decorating each layer.  The middle layer is hexagonal and each side has a highly detailed painting depicting things such as performing horses, elephants, clowns, and various rides.  Each is hand-painted using food coloring on fondant and had intricate gold frames.  You’ve chosen flavors that felt carnival-like to you.  Oreo for the largest layer, apple and caramel for the next, and the smallest would be funfetti.
Maria helps you with the zip on the back of your dress.  It is a sleeveless, a-line cut dress, with a heart-shaped bodice that has beadwork around the waist.  The fabric is white satin with the very barest hint of blue that from some angles it’s hard to tell if it’s blue at all.  The skirt has an overlay of chiffon that blends down into a pastel rainbow at the hem that shifts in color as you walk.  “We really better get a move on,” she says.
You smile and nod.  “Gotta get in as many rides as we can,” you joke.
She laughs.  “Yes, that’s the most important thing happening today.  Nothing else life-changing is happening today.”
“Steve and I are already married.  This is just to formalize it,” you chuckle as she hands you your bouquet.  It’s made up of rosebuds, sweet peas, lilacs, and hydrangea so that the flowers form a ball that looks like a pastel rainbow to match your skirt.
The two of you head downstairs to the pink Cadillac that’s waiting for you and the driver holds the door open for you as you get into the back.
The drive out to Brooklyn takes you over the bridge where Steve proposed and just that is enough to bring tears to your eyes.
“Don’t get all weepy on me now, kid,” Maria teases, handing you some Kleenex.  “Your mascara will run.”
“Oh no,” you laugh, running the tissue under your lashes.  “I don’t actually want to look like a clown.”
“At least it fits the theme, I guess,” Maria jokes.
The car pulls up at the large blue gates with their bright, orange, blue, and gold crescent moons, and starbursts over them.  The driver lets you out of the back and staff from the park greet you and lead you into the park, to the area set up for the wedding.  Another staff member spots you coming and hurries to the Harpist and they begin playing the intro to ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’.
Maria walks ahead, going down the path between the chairs to the arch that had been decorated in red and white fabric to go with the carnival feel of the wedding.  Steve is waiting for you with Thor, Bucky, and Sam.  Thor is in his Asgardian regalia, while Steve is in a pale blue suit with a pink rosebud in the lapel, and Bucky and Sam are in white with blue forget-me-nots.  When she reaches the end she takes her place next to Steve and you begin your walk down the aisle.  Everyone stands and turns to look at you, and cameras start going off around you.  Steve looks relaxed and he, Bucky, and Sam are smiling like they’d just been talking about something funny, but as he looks up and sees you, his face softens and such a pure expression of love settles on his features, it makes your heartache with love for him.
You reach him and hand your bouquet to Hill, taking Steve’s hands.
“Friends!”  Thor announces, his large booming voice, filling the open space.  “We come together today to witness the joining of these two people.  The universe is vast and for two to come together and find love and support in each other is a miraculous thing.  Love is not a thing that can be measured, it is not a commodity that can be used up, it is ever-changing and adapting, and of unlimited supply.  We are here to both share in and celebrate that love shared by these two people.”
Thor takes a gold cord from a table and steps closer to you and Steve.  “Before I go any further, you need to state your intent that here today within this circle, you choose to forge these eternal bonds with each other, and do so of your own free will and desire, without coercion or false intentions,” Thor says.  “The promises made today and the ties that are bound here greatly strengthen your union and will cross the years and lives of each soul’s growth.  Do you seek to enter this contract?”
“We do,” you and Steve answer together.
Thor smiles.  “Gaze into the eyes of your lover.”
Steve takes your left hand with his left hand and your right with his right so your arms are crossed over and the two of you look into each other’s eyes.
“Will you share in each other’s pain and seek to alleviate it?”  Thor asks.
“We will,” you and Steve reply.
Thor winds the gold cord around your arms and a crackle of electricity passes over it.  “And so the binding is made,” he says.  “Will you share in each other’s laughter and look for the brightness and positivity in each other?”
“We will.”
Thor winds more of the cord around you both, and you feel the cool buzz from the charge.  “And so the binding is made,” he says.  “Will you share in each other’s burdens so that your spirits may grow in this union?”
“We will,” you both reply.
More cord is wound around you and now a dull rumble begins to fill the clear blue sky.  “Will you share in each other’s dreams?”
“We will,” you both reply.
“And so the binding is made,” Thor says, winding more of the cord around your arms.  “Will you take the heat of anger and use it to temper the strength of this union?”
“We will.”
“And so the binding is made,” Thor says.  “Will you honor each other as equals in this union?”
“We will,” you both say, and Steve gently squeezes your hands.
“And so the binding is made,” Thor says, tightening the cord.  A loud crack and flash of lightning fills the space, but when your eyes adjust, there is no sign that lightning has struck at all, apart from the charged warm feeling inside you.
“As your hands are bound together now,” Thor continues.  “So your lives and spirits are joined in a union of love and trust.  The bond of marriage is not formed by these cords, but rather by the love and respect you have for each other.  For always you hold in your hands the fate of this union.  Above you are stars and below you is earth.  Like stars, your love should be a constant source of light, and like the earth, a firm foundation from which to grow.  May these hands be blessed this day.  May they always hold each other.  May they have strength to hang on during storms of stress and the dark of disillusionment.  May they remain tender and gentle as they nurture each other in their wondrous love.  May they build a relationship founded in love, and rich in caring.  May these hands be healer, protector, shelter, and guide for each other.”
Thor unwinds the cord and puts his large hands on yours and Steve’s, smiling at you both before taking his hands away and putting the cord back on the table.  “I will now ask that you seal the vows you share by the giving and receiving of rings.  The perfect circle of the ring symbolizes eternity.  The precious metal came from the ground as a rough ore and was heated and purified, shaped, and polished.  Something beautiful was made from raw elements.  Love is like that.  It comes from humble beginnings, made by imperfect beings.  It is the process of making something beautiful where there was once nothing at all.”
Bucky and Maria give you each a ring and Steve takes your hand, sliding your ring into place.  “I take you to be my partner in life and my one true love.  I will cherish our friendship, and I will love you today, tomorrow, and forever.  I will trust you, and honor you, laugh with you, and cry with you.  I will love you faithfully through best and worst, whatever may come.  I give you this ring as a symbol of that and give myself to you, as I take you as my wife.”
Tears prick your eyes and you take Steve’s hand and slide the ring into place.  “I take you to be my partner in life and my one true love.  I will cherish our friendship, and I will love you today, tomorrow, and forever.  I will trust you, and honor you, laugh with you, and cry with you.  I will love you faithfully through best and worst, whatever may come.  I give you this ring as a symbol of that and give myself to you, as I take you as my husband.”
“On behalf of all those present,” Thor announces, grinning broadly and clapping a hand on you and Steve.  “And by the strength of your love, I pronounce you husband and wife.  You may now seal your vows with a kiss.”
Steve smiles brightly and leans in, cradling your cheeks with his hands.  You meet him halfway, and as your lips touch, a whole new chapter of your lives begins.
~ END ~

How To Choose Your Wedding Cake
https://www.the-hungryplaice.uk/how-to-choose-your-wedding-cake
Choosing a Wedding Cake can be a daunting and overwhelming experience, there are lots of different elements that make up a Wedding Cake to think about.
Rather than picking something to keep your guests happy you should choose a Wedding Cake that suits you and your partner.
Tumblr media
How To Choose Your Wedding Cake
Get Researching
The first step in choosing your Wedding Cake is in the research, get on the internet and see what is around, there will be Pinterest Boards, Posts on Facebook and Instagram and Wedding Cake Makers Photos that you can check out.
Do not be concerned about the cost at this stage just identify the kind of thing you would be happy to have adorning your cake table on your special day.
Save a photo of anything you like so that you have a collection of the sort of thing that you like the look of, look at the different styles and colours that are grabbing your attention.
Have a good look at what local cake makers can offer, whilst there are loads of different styles it doesn’t mean to say that you will be able to find someone who can make exactly what you want.
When you have collated a few ideas you will be ready to start making some decisions on the Wedding Cake of your dreams!
Style/Theme/Colours
Your starting point has probably been covered when you did your research, at this point you may have identified your Wedding Cake budget and you should have some idea of the kind of thing you are looking for whether you’d like a single tier or multi-tiered cake, the general theme and style and the colours that you would prefer.
This might all be in keeping with your Wedding theme for example if you are looking for something Rustic, Traditional or Modern like the rest of your day or something that matches your colour scheme.
You might be happy with a standard shop bought design, in fact some supermarkets offer a Wedding Cake Service and can even include Personalised icing on the top made from photos you supply.
Your Wedding Cake can make a huge statement if you want it to, normally a Wedding Cake has it’s own table and this can be as big or as small as you choose.
You may prefer a more subtle Wedding Cake rather than be too extravagant but that does not mean you necessarily have to compromise on what you want.
Cake Shapes
The number of Wedding Cake types are endless and it would be easy to get carried away so start with the shape of the Wedding Cake you would like.
The most common shapes for Tiered cakes would be Round or Oval Shaped, Square or Rectangular Shaped, Heart-Shaped or something different like Hexagonal or a mixture of shapes.
Each one of these types will give a different look to your Wedding Cake and can reflect your theme so if you wanted a more traditional shape you could opt for a scalloped edge cake or a more modern square shaped cake.
Choosing Something Completely Different
Rather than have just one Wedding Cake some couples choose to have two, one for cutting during the Cake Cutting Ceremony and another that is used to cut up and feed the guests.
There are even couples that choose to have a cake for every table at the Wedding Reception rather than one main cake and they walk around and cut several cakes rather than just one.
Cupcake Mountains are more commonplace nowadays but there are also things like Cheese, Fruit, Chocolates and Macaroons with many other exciting options out there.
Remember to choose a Wedding Cake that reflects your personality so if you are mad about Pork Pies have a Pork Pie Cake!
Fillings and Icings
Once you have the basic shape and theme have a think about the fillings and the icing, the most popular choices will be things like Sponge, Fruitcake, Chocolate and Cheesecake. You might want to go against the grain and have more than one type of filling if you are having more than one tier for your Wedding Cake.
The Rainbow Cake is a popular modern-day choice where you have layers of different sponge cakes rather than just one colour. Imagine how great it would be for your guests to have a multi coloured cake to tuck into!
Aside from the fillings give a thought to the decorations and the outside of the cake are you keen on having a traditional white icing or happy to have something more colourful, will you will want to have flowers or shapes attached to the top and edges?
Think about the different types of icing you can have like Fondant and Buttercream and if you unsure about this part you can of course ask your Wedding Cake Maker for guidance.
Size of Cake
The size of your Wedding Cake should be enough for the number of guests that you will have on your day, a good Wedding Cake Maker will know the size of cake depending on the number of guests and will help you with this.
Think about whether you will want guests to eat the cake as part of the Wedding meal or if the cake will be put into boxes to be taken home after the party, this will have an impact on the cake size if the servings can be smaller for example.
Wedding Cake Toppers
Wedding Cake Toppers are a great way to demonstrate your personality on your Wedding Cake, whilst you can purchase standard looking toppers from a range of places you may wish to have some specially made to your own specifications so this is a bit more personal.
These Wedding Toppers can be edible or you may choose to have them made so that you can keep them in your Wedding memory box.
Taste Testing
If Taste Testing is an option, this is highly recommended and most Wedding Cake Suppliers would be happy to make some samples for you to try out. You could arrange tasting sessions with more than one supplier if possible so you can have a choice of options.
This will give you a good opportunity to meet with a supplier and discuss your choices so you can make a more informed decision about what you will go for.
Ordering Your Wedding Cake
You will need to understand the timings for ordering your Wedding Cake, you must make sure you leave adequate time ahead for your Wedding Cake Maker to fit in your order in time for your date.
If your Wedding falls over the summer time it is likely that your Wedding Cake Maker will be busy most weeks making cakes and will want to have a few months’ notice so check out timings with some Suppliers if you are unsure about how much notice you need to give.
Bear in mind that you might have to give a Wedding Cake Supplier a deposit on booking and this would cover the cost of any ingredients so is likely to be non-refundable, you will also need to understand when the balance payment would then be payable so you can fit this into your budgeting schedule.
Choosing your Wedding Cake Supplier
Your Wedding Cake Supplier should be someone you can trust so make sure you check them out before you book, look at their photos, Website and Social Media pages and see if you can find some recommendations. You can always ask your Wedding Cake Supplier for details of previous customers if you would like to speak directly to someone who has booked them before.
A good Wedding Cake Maker will be experienced and happy to talk through all the elements of your Wedding Cake, they should be able to give you a quotation based on a few questions you answer and tell you all about the arrangements and storage of your cake before the big day.
You should get a feel for the Supplier on talking to them and if you are unsure there is no obligation to go forwards with a booking and you can easily find someone more suitable.
