You’re deeply focused on your drawing, moving your stylus on the screen, retouching the defender AGAIN. You bite down your cheek, thinking back at Pryce's reaction, she’s truly mean and rotten to the core, you don’t like her.

Well, to be fair you don’t like politicians in general, but her? It’s a completely new level.

Thanks to Thrawn you avoided complete humiliation but you feel like she will hold the grudge and unleash it on you when she gets the opportunity. You will need to watch behind your back now. 

You’re internally fuming.

You sigh, turning your head to turn a button of your tablet and jump out of your skin.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is right behind your back, leaning over your shoulder to watch you work.

“Maker, Gr-Grand Admiral!” You shout, putting your hand over your beating heart. “You’re gonna kill so-someone one day!”

“Do not mind me, continue to work. It is a very interesting process.” He tilts his head, vaguely amused by your reaction.

“In fact I-I just finished.” You grumble, trying to calm down your heart. You hand him your tablet to get his opinion “I modified… The heart and mo-motor to lighten it. It-It would solve the pr-problem of admiral Kon-Konstantine.”

He slowly nods, unfolding the different layers of the prototype plans. 

“How are you feeling?” He finally asks, raising his burning red eyes from the screen to meet yours.

“I-I think it’s a good so-solution. Th-their gr-gra…” You gulp, squirming on your seat under his intense gaze and focus on your next sentence “Their gravitational centers should be more ba… balanced now.” 

Maker damnit, almost!

You internally curse yourself, you’re in your own lab, on your own territory, stop acting so cowardly and control your voice! You’re a chief technician of the Empire! Act like one!

He slowly shakes his head and looks around your empty lab, before going back to you.

“I was talking about what happened earlier, cha’cah.” He speaks softly. “You gained back the upper hand, but I saw you were hurt by Pryce’s words. Do you wish to speak about it?”

Oh… Oh.

“It’s no-nothing. I’m used to i-it.” you lie. “I-it’s like a mon-monday for me.” you try humor.

Judging by his unimpressed look he sees right through your lie and doesn’t find your pique at yourself funny.

“I am serious, cha’cah.”

You lower your head, fidgeting your fingers. What can you say? You’ve lived through mockery all your life and you buried yourself in works to forget. You chose a field where you didn’t need to speak with people, until you became chief technician.

He takes one of your hands and kneels before you, looking up at your lowered gaze, squeezing it gently.

“You know you can tell me anything, right?”

You nod,avoiding his gaze, preferring to remain mute rather than having your voice crash with emotion in front of him again. Maybe a bad habit…

“I want you to know it. Whatever it is, you can tell me. I can bear the weight.” His hand comes to your chin, forcing you to look at him. “Alright, cha’cah?”

You gulp.

“Al-alright.”

He nods, satisfied.

“I know you are upset. Can I do something for you?” He asks gently, rising back on his feet.

“D-don’t you have du-duties to attend to?”

“It can wait until I have comforted you.” He casually responds, like it was normal to throw away his Grand Admiral’s duties for something so trivial as your sentiments.

But you take comfort knowing you precede his duties.

“Ca-can I have a hug?”

He chuckles, circling you with his strong arms, pressing you against his heart.

“Of course, cha’cah. You can have one anytime.” He kisses the top of your head, caressing your back.

You snuggle against him, holding him tight, listening to his steady heartbeat, your ire subsiding in the moment’s softness.

Who ya gonna call? (The DID/trans ep)

Ill be honest i was nervous to rewatch this one but turns out it held up better than i thought. I mean, the worst of it is that the DID person is the murderer but that was such a common tv thing back then for procedurals. Every one had to have a DID ep, even though, as Psych points out, its so exceedingly rare. I get it, its a fun concept, but yeah, don’t make them the violent ones when 9 times out of 10 they’re the victims of violent crimes. I will say though, Psych made sure to include they were getting the help they needed and they really didn’t have to.

But what a cool way to show it though, having the other personalities act like ghosts. It feels very poetic. And to have one personality trans is such an interesting layer on top of it. It really can’t get more complicated than that.

This episode also tells us so much about Lassiter! Hes trying desperately to win back his not-yet-ex wife its kind of heartbreaking. We’re starting Psych right at the beginning of Lassiters downfall. He gets separated, has an “affair” with his partner who gets reassigned because ppl found out thanks to Shawn, and i believe its later implied he lost the promotion to captain because of that affair. And then Shawn comes along and he’s solving his cases. I have to wonder though, since we see in this ep how distracted he can be when he has personal issues, if Lassiter isn’t necessarily a bad detective in the beginning but just going through some shit and missing things. It kind of makes me understand why he’s so hostile to Shawn in the beginning. Not that thats any excuse. Just because you’re having a bad day doesn’t mean you get to shit on other ppl’s. And it was fun to see lassiters and Juliets miscommunication. It was nice to see them easing into their partnership, and allowing friction, particularly:

What was henry going to do if that kid just started wailing on shawn??? Honestly, probably would have tried to teach shawn how to hit back and would’ve got him pummeled.

Its kind of funny that in this ep Shawns all this guy believes in ghosts, hes crazy, when in later eps he’s so excited about aliens and bigfoot haha. I can only conclude Shawn doesn’t really believe in anything supernatural but definitely wants to. I think it would have been better if Shawn didn’t think the guy was crazy right off the bat but maybe had a stalker, or intruder. (P.s were the writers implying Shawn was right from the beginning and they were crazy, or was that just poor wording??)

Sidenote: Shawn just casually spoke german and seemingly understood her response. He probably simply knew enough to impress her, but still. He does this a few times i think in the series where he lets it slip how much he actually knows.

Tim being an utter loser. I love him, but he should be incredibly put together in public and then he gets home and just... is a mess. never felt the touch of anyone, woman or man. can do complex mathematical equations but needs a calculator to solve 4 x 3. think Sherlock Holmes, who can tell everything about you from one look but doesnt know the earth revolves around the sun.

Alfred being called out for being an enabler! fuck that old man, i hate him. however if he made me a cup of tea, i would die for him. Im a very complex person.

Dick being Damians dad. so cute, i love it. Damian deserves to have his own taste of found family. fuck blood of the womb, lets go with blood of the covenent or whatever the quote says.

Literally anything about Dicks time in the circus. I think i've only read like two fics about it? Compared to the hundreds going indepth on Tim and Jason's childhoods?

Similar to the last one, but gosh the culture shocks they all probably had! Dick was used to constantly moving from city to city. Jason going from being on the street to a mansion. Tim going from boarding school, a place full of kids his own age, to being alone in his house so that he could be Robin. Damian was used to being respected and honored, he was a prince after all, only to suddenly be told that everything he knew was wrong.

Babs and Tim. I think they would get along, i wanna see them bonding!

Joker Junior. i know its not canon and it was only in like one cartoon but oh my GOD i love it.

Trauma reveals!! i love them. Dick's time in spyral, his apprenticeship with Deathstroke, the multiple fucked up relationships he's been in. Everything Tim did during 'Brucequest', Jasons time with the LOA, literally anything from Damians childhood.

Jon being aged up and his relationship with Damian! i dont even need to add anything, you get the point.

Dana, Jack, and Janet. I want it so bad!!! Dana is implied but never confirmed to be dead so bring her back and let her and Tim mourn!! let Tim find out his parents both slept with Bruce and have Bruce be like "oops i forgot about that, soz sweetie-" let tim hate christmas eve because thats when his mother was buried!

Onto a very generic question I would not be surprised might already be sitting in your inbox.

I am aware that your current project is to continue on ever after high with all the cannon (mostly the cartoon I think, but I can assume the books count too? And maybe doll boxes/diaries? It’s a lot).

If there was one subject you would want to rewrite or remove from canon entirely, what would it be (challenge would be to not name the disaster that is epic winter).

And on a lighter note, favorite/stuck-on-repeat part of the series (I’m sorry this ask is so long, Idnk how to shorten things)?

omg no this isn’t too long at all i’m actually so thrilled to be given something this long to look at!

for starters, in terms of continuing ever after high, my thing is that i want to follow the show canon above all, but i do want to conclude a lot of the stuff touched on in external media such as books and dairies etc. though in doing so i’m not going to treat anything that doesn’t come straight from the show as something to abide by completely. because the show and the books and what not have inconsistencies in numerous ways, such as defining what a royal/rebel is, or characterization, or even the novelizations of the specials having alternate tellings of the stories. i don’t even want to really necessarily change anything mentioned in the books when adapting it so much as ADD to the information provided in ways that aid the story in which i aim to tell.

i.e. the evil queen turning raven’s puppy Prince into a bone rat. what about Nevermore? where was she? WHEN was she? well i think the evil queen could have perhaps, upon feeling remorse, secretly gone and sought out a dragon for raven, and brought Nevermore home without telling raven it was her doing, so that she would have a new pet companion.

anywho, as for your actual questions, for the first one, i’m probably gonna have to go with the whole sequence in Way Too Wonderland when they’re going from class to class. see, when i first watched it, i got this feeling they were going to go from class to class and in each one a different girl in the group would demonstrate their strong point in solving how to pass the class.

if not that, i think i’d change who got to go and do the whole storybook page thing in Thronecoming. i think it should have just been the core four + ashlynn there, really. and less of them could have opened the door for more time getting to see briar seeing what raven’s point of view is like when faced with the reality of her story.

on a more basic note i’d just go back and make sure everyone were not introduced to from the start is actually there. at least, there for Legacy Day. they don’t have to talk or do anything, it would just be nice to know they were THERE.

anywho, in regards to your other question, that’s a tough one. i mean, i have a few. basic answer is raven’s Legacy Day declaration. it’s just iconic and a real powerful moment that shapes the narrative. i love it. there’s also pretty much all of briar’s scenes in Thronecoming. (and obviously her snapping at apple moment. that shit’s too funny.)

BUT also when raven signs the real book in Way Too Wonderland and gets that dark magic power up. i’m a sucker for fight scenes and especially ones with extra narrative weight, so i always appreciated that one + the aftermath of it. and when apple declares raven as a hero. it’s great.

This is a sequel to my post in 2021 'Things that I have to keep reminding myself are not true (or at the very least not confirmed) in 'Lego Monkie Kid' because Fandom and Fanfics have warped my perception of reality' back when we only had seasons 1-2! I made a funny list of lmk fanon tropes I found in fanfics so much that they kinda made me forget what was real and what was fanon. But after season 4 and the special, I decided to go back over things because a LOT has changed. So, without further ado, lets get into all the juicy details (with pictures!) hehehe~

Despite the events of 'Shadow Play' the rest of the gang does not know about Macaque

Okay so this one got solved immediately after season 2. Like Mac just showed up right where s2 ended. He made his presence known. Repeatedly! Relentlessly! I love him btw.

MK has never told Sun Wukong that Macaque appeared while he was gone

I listed this one specifically because some fics decide to either have MK confess to Wukong that Mac's been in contact with him after his debut episode, or MK might keep it a secret. But in the grand scheme since his debut, its kinda irrelevant now. Man is everywhere.

The Gold Fillet has not been mentioned

This is also no longer true! I mean we see it a lot but there's not a conversation about it specifically. I think that counts... (We're gonna get to the juicy ones I promise)

I could list a bunch of knowing looks and one off remarks but I'd be here all day gushing so I'll just go with the most obvious piece of evidence. Season 4's Pig-Napped! Has a moment where Tang is trying to get through to Pigsy, who is trapped in his ancestor's body. He mentions that he has "dedicated his life to this man (Pigsy)" and idk how else to read that if ya know what I mean. (Also this cuddle moment when he got Pigsy back. Tee-hee)

Sun Wukong and Macaque have not had any kind of relation or relationship confirmed beyond "Beloved Friends"

This one is ALSO having some VIBES but not anything confirming enough for me to outright say its canon. Though there's...there's somethin' goin on. Shadow Play set the table but seasons 3-4 gave us a FUCKING ANGST MEAL.

and the special we learn a lot more about Macaque and Wukong's relationship. They were canonically a lot closer and more affectionate than I had originally expected and the implication of being "sworn brothers" the two sharing a home at FFM, and peach metaphors/nicknames I could write a whole book about. I can't really say it has anything as concrete as Tang saying his life is for Pigsy, but I can say the implications are MIGHTY, and their wounds are DEEP. (Shadowpeach flows in my veins so deeply, season 5 please give me what I need its Sonadow but Monkey men please gods, all of the gods, just give me--)

Mei, Red Son, and MK have never had a party or a sleepover

Weirdly enough, this totally happened??? Like not gonna lie out of all of these things on this list, this one was the one I didn't expect to come through. But they did sleep over at Red's place, and had a beach party at the end of s4.

Im including these two together (even though the Dadsy one was already confirmed in s1) for a few reasons because I feel like I need to talk about why.

MK not only has called Pigsy Dadsy, he says flat out in season 4 that Pigsy is his dad, due to adopting him. This is in reply to Mei saying that Wukong is his dad, due to the whole stone monkey thing. While its implied he and Wukong are cut from the same cloth somehow, both being mystic stone monkeys, MK only sees Pigsy as his true father.

Macaque has not been redeemed yet

This one is a lot more nuanced. While Mac is no longer their enemy and is a reluctant ally, I wouldn't call him redeemed necessary. This is mostly because around the end of season3 and all of season 4 we begin to delve into the complexity of Wukong/Macaque. It's shown that both parties did damage and hurt each other in the past. It feels a bit black and white to try and put all the blame on Macaque and say he needs to be 'redeemed' now that we know more about the two monkeys. But for the sake of argument, I will say that as of season 4, Macaque can be considered one of the good guys even if they're not his 'friends.'

His relationship with Wukong is just beginning to mend and that's a whole different can of worms, but as past antagonists go, I'd say he's got a seal of approval when it comes to being a reliable ally.

Aaaaannnddddd that's all the ones I had! This was really fun to comb through all of the fanfic themes and see how much they've snuck their way into canon (or were flat out proven to be the deal from the start) since season 2! Hopefully once season 5 rolls around I can address some of these unconfirmed fanfic themes again, and maybe even have new ones! (Right now the only one I can think of is Azure having romantic feelings for Wukong but since he's kinda gone idk if that would ever come up)

Teenager! Tangerine x Teenager! Reader- Highschool Sweethearts

This is a story about when Lemon and Tangerine were teenagers. There are some references to the actual film and I had to make up their real names since their actual names are unknown (for now, I want a series or a film about those two!)

Every teenage girl had her insecurities and in Secondary School, it only gets worse. Especially at the age of fourteen, which is exactly how old Y/N was. She did have friends who would tell her that she was perfect the way she was, but the other girls thought otherwise and would always give her shit for… well… absolutely nothing! They just liked to hate on her because she was prettier than them.

“Ugh! I honestly hate her! She’s such a bitch!” Her friend, Daisy, rubbed her back and said, “You’re better than her! You’re smart, friendly and funny! Boys do like that in a girl”. Y/N looked at her friends, who all nodded. Caitlin, Daisy and Laura were her best friends. “Yeah… I suppose. But I wish Ashley would stop making me feel like shit every chance she gets. It’s really getting on my nerves—?!”

Then they heard some arguing and looked behind them to find two very fit boys talking to one another. “If you talk about Thomas the Tank Engine one more time, I’m gonna punch you in the fucking face!” “Okay, okay… calm down! I won’t talk about it again… for today anyway”, the other boy said, following him. “Luke… you won’t talk about it, period! It’s bloody embarrassing!” “But Elliot, that’s how I read people”. “Does it look like I give a fuck?!”

“Oh wow! I heard about them!”, Caitlin said to her friends with a smile. “Who are they?”, Y/N asked. “Elliot and Luke from the year above. Apparently, they’re brothers in Foster Care. Elliot has a right soldier’s mouth and Luke is into Thomas the Tank Engine. But they are fit”, Laura said. Daisy then looked at Y/N, who was blushing heavily. “Ohhh… you like one of them, don’t you~?” “Shut it!!!”

While walking through school, Y/N sighed as she held her books to her chest, only for someone to push her shoulder. She dropped all of her books and she glared back at Ashley, who laughed at her. “Hey! Are you alright?!” She looked up and found Elliot standing there. “Um… yeah. That bitch just shoved me”, she growled. He frowned and mumbled, “I hate girls like that. Anyway, let me help you”.

He helped her with her books and asked, “Where were you heading?” “The library. I need to study for the upcoming test”. He nodded and rubbed the back of his neck. “Well, if you want, I can help you”. Y/N’s eyes lit up. “Really?” Elliot smiled and nodded before saying, “Yeah… I need to study as well. What are you studying?” “Maths, my worst subject”. He smiled and said, “Well, I’m quite good, so I can help you”.

While the two were studying, Caitlin, Daisy and Laura all walked in to see how it was going. “Why did they have to add the alphabet? I just don’t get it!”, Y/N complained. Elliot laughed and then leaned over to show her how to solve a problem. “I think he likes her…”, Daisy whispered. “You’re telling me, and look at how pink her cheeks are”, Laura giggled. “Y/N are those your friends over there?” She looked over and sighed. “Just kill me now”.

“Hey… what’s got your knickers in a twist?”, he asked. She sighed and mumbled, “It’s Ashley. She likes to think she’s better than everyone else because she comes from a rich family. But… she’s just a fucking slag”. “Yeah… ‘slag’ is right. And she’s so fake it’s… fucking mental. You should see her in class”, he said before looking at her. “Sorry, I’ve got a bit of a sailor’s mouth…”. She shook her head. “It’s okay. I don’t mind”. He smiled back at her.

After school, Elliot and Luke were walking home together. “So, who’s the girl?” Elliot gave his brother a confused look. “What?” “You can’t hide anything from me. You have a small on your face, which means you have a crush on someone. So, who is she?”, Luke asked. He gave up and rubbed the back of his neck. “A girl from the year below. Her name is Y/N. We were studying together… that’s all”, he told him, when he saw her with her friends.

Luke waved a hand over his face and smiled. “Oh, you’re definitely in love. Just ask her out already!” “I barely know her… I don’t want to make a mistake. Especially after that last bitch a dated”, Elliot said sadly. “Yeah, she was definitely a Diesel”. Then he glared at Luke before asking, “What did I say about talking about Thomas?” “That you’d punch me in the face. But am I ever wrong?” “… No”.

During the weekend, Y/N decided to go to the park to walk her dog, when she saw Elliot playing football with a few of the other boys from school. She giggled and continued walking when her dog started growling, while staring at the ball. “Hey… don’t you dare—! Woah!” She fell to the floor and watched her German Shepherd interrupt their game. “Oh, for heaven’s sake! Get back here!!!”, she shouted.

Elliot gently calmed the dog down and Y/N ran over before saying, “I’m so sorry! He goes mad whenever he sees a ball!” He laughed and said, “It’s okay”. “Yeah… but you might wanna keep that dog under control”, one of the other boys said. She sighed and mumbled, “He’s trained”. “Yeah! But it just ruined our game!” Elliot stood up as soon as Y/N held onto her dogs leash again. “Back off, alright! It’s just a game! Come on… I’ll take you home Y/N”.

While walking to her house, Y/N said, “I really am sorry about this one”. “It’s alright… don’t about it. Has he always been like that?”, Elliot asked. “Yeah, ever since he was a puppy. If he saw a ball, he would go straight for it! We tried to train him out of it… but nothing seemed to work”, she told him. He chuckled and then looked away before holding her hand just when they arrived at her house. “Th-This is me”.

He nodded and looked at her, before letting go of her hand. “Well… I’ll see you at school then”. “See you at school then”. She watched as he walked away, making her pout. “Hey! Y/N!” She looked back at him and he ran back before gently taking her face into his hands. Then he kissed her, causing her eyes to widen in shock. But then she closed her, kissing him back. He pulled away and asked, “You wanna go out?” “Sure… I’d love to”.

That Sunday, he waited for her at the park and found her wearing a sundress. “H-Hi…!” He stood up and smiled. “Hi. You look… beautiful”. She giggled and he held her hand before kissing her head. “Alright lovely, where do you wanna go?” She giggled nervously and said, “Nowhere really… I just want to get to know you a little better”. He nodded and smiled before saying, “Well, my name is Elliot and—!” “Don’t start from the very beginning!”, she told him, making him laugh.

Present Day…

“And that’s how Mum and Dad met and fell in love~!”, Cherry said happily to her children, Peach, Apricot and Clementine. Her girls were both fascinated, while her son just gagged. “Mum! That’s gross!”, he complained. “No it’s not! It’s romantic!”, she said happily. Lemon, who just so happened to be in the room, sighed and said, “I agree with Apricot. And I was there. You two were so sweet, it almost made me vomit”. Tangerine then hit him over the head.

“At least she didn’t go any further—!”

Do or Do Not, There is No Try

I have seen, I think, the full gamut of misinterpretations of this phrase, so, I'm going to take a crack at breaking down its meaning, and also look a little at its impact on Luke, because someone once tried to tell me that Sidious couldn't've conquered the galaxy without Yoda, and I'm here to say that that's *so funny*, because actually Luke couldn't've saved Anakin without Yoda's teachings.

Let's look at another, simpler example first, to establish my method of analysis. Pretty much, it's about context. Lets take the sentence,

"Hey, don't cry, don't cry."

Let's ask some key questions:

Who would might be saying this and who might they be saying this to? An adult or older child might say this to a young child.

When might this be said? When the child is distressed, and either crying or potentially about to start crying.

What might the older person's intention be in this scenario? Comforting the child.

What is the cultural context? Crying can be caused by a wide variety of intense emotions, but (in modern western culture at least) it is most strongly associated with sadness or pain, negative emotions. There are sometimes negative attitudes about crying being a sign of weakness, but that's not a uniformly held idea, and young children generally get a pass on this.

We can debate about whether saying "Hey, don't cry, don't cry," is the best way to comfort someone who is crying and whether it does or doesn't reenforce negative ideas about crying, but phrased the way I've phrased it, and said in a generally comforting tone and accompanied by other comforting actions, it doesn't literally mean, "I command you to stop crying immediately."

It means, "I see that you're sad/hurting. I wish that you weren't experiencing those negative emotions that are causing you to cry, because I care about you and how you feel. You're going to be okay and this is a situation that we can handle."

(If anyone has, like, specific trauma around this phrase, please note I'm not saying you're not valid for having whatever feelings you have about it, I'm looking at it in the situation described above where intentions are all around pretty positive)

See? Context.

Now let's look at our phrase,

First, a list of common misinterpretations, some of which (I believe) come from people trying really hard to make sense of this phrase but coming at it from the wrong lens, some of which take it very literally, and some of which are cop outs:

it's not just advice about how to use the Force

it's not saying that effort doesn't exist, or that trying really hard is stupid

it's not saying that putting in your best effort is worthless if you don't succeed

it's definitely not saying to only do things you already know you can succeed at

it's not a meaningless platitude, and it's not totally open to any interpretation you'd like

So, context questions:

Who is saying this? Yoda, a life-long teacher of the Force, of lightsaber dueling, and of philosophy. Also a life-long leader, humanitarian, and warrior. He is also a Jedi.

Who is Yoda saying this to? Luke, his student, who aspires to face defeat a terrible evil--the empire--and generally help people where ever he goes. He intends do so by becoming a Jedi.

What is Luke doing when Yoda says this? He is talking about how he really needs his X-wing to not sink into the swamp so he can get off the planet, at the same time as he's saying, "But I don't really know if I can do anything about that so I'm gonna half-try and then give up," and, "My X-wing is very important but I can't have it but I need it so I'm not going to seek out any other solutions to my problem either." In this moment, Luke is whining, and not facing up to his problems (he got it from his dad).

What is Yoda doing when he says this? He's lifting Luke's X-wing out of the swamp with the Force, thereby solving Luke's most obvious outward problem--his dependence on his ship for transport. He's a teacher showing his student the capabilities of the Force, addressing another of Luke's outward problems--his lack of knowledge of the Force. He's also, because this is how both movies and teaching work, addressing Luke's main inward problem: his lack of perseverance and conviction. In this moment, Yoda is helping, and teaching.

So it's a phrase that, along with Yoda's demonstration, is meant to teach Luke something about conviction and effort. Well, we probably already knew most of that, so let's ask some more questions:

Is there a larger context of this phrase? Yes, this phrase is being said in a movie, and so Luke isn't it's only intended audience, and Yoda isn't the only one saying it. The other audience is us, the literal audience, and the writer is George Lucas. All the cues in the movie tell us the audience that Yoda saying this is an important moment we should be paying attention to.

What are his opinions of/intentions for Yoda and the Jedi? Extremely positive. He does not say they are perfect--the conclusion of RotJ says that Yoda and Obi-Wan were wrong about something--but he does say that Jedi are people striving very actively to help others and to be their best selves. These are characters through whom a lot of his beliefs about what goodness is and how people should live are being transmitted. So as this idea of Yoda's is not the one challenged by the conclusion of RotJ, we can assume it is meant to be interpreted positively.

What were George Lucas' cultural inspirations for Jedi culture that relate to this phrase? A combination of christianity, buddhism, and his own unique ideas. To oversimplify: Christianity gives us the light vs. dark, true evil and true good both exist and we should strive for goodness part, buddism gives us the mastery of self, non-attachment, and meditation parts. I am not an expert in any religion, and definitely not in buddhism--I was at least raised christian--but even I know enough to know I'm about to make some sweeping generalizations, so grain of salt, if you please. But disclaimers aside, I believe his phrase, and the way it is phrased, are and indication it is being inspired more by the buddhism side of things. The way christian texts, specifically the Bible, are written typically goes "here is a story/parable about some people doing something, and here is how big G god and/or Jesus reacted to that." There are plenty of metaphors sprinkled in, but they are mainly there to clarify points for readers. Buddhist texts on the other hand (and lots of other easter belief systems as well, like daoism, hinduism, etc. It's an important note that these belief systems don't necessarily conform to the western idea of what a religion is, and often their original languages don't even have a word which is equivalent in meaning to "religion") use metaphor and poetic language in often deliberately contradictory ways, to both express and make the reader/listener (lots of these "texts" were (and still are) oral traditions before they were written down) think about things which are considered impossible to fully express in words and which defy description in other ways as well. The ongoing, unresolved struggle to reconcile contradictory descriptions is the point. Importantly, this doesn't mean those texts can be interpreted however a reader would like. There may be more than one right interpretations, but there can also be wrong, or lacking, interpretations.

Our phrase has a positive/useful message (you can debate whether you agree with that message later, if you'd like), it can't just be about the Force since a very non-Force having audience it meant to gain something from hearing it, and it's not meant to be taken entirely literally.

From here, it's me taking the context and running.

Yoda is making a statement about being decisive, about commitment, and about the unexpected power that can be found when you really put all your effort towards a goal.

Yoda is giving a lesson much more important than 'How to lift things 101,' and much more relevant than how to use the Force.

He's telling Luke to stop whining and make a decision about what it is that he really wants to do, and telling him that when he does know that that is, he needs to put all his effort behind that goal.

Star Wars is telling all of us to stop whining. To decide what we believe in and to act on it.

(If there are any Doctor Who fans who've made it this far, there is a really similar theme across Doctor Who, especially for the 12th Doctor--my personal favorite. Yoda and the Doctor would make wonderful chaos friends.)

And guess what? Luke takes this advice to heart. He decides he's going to redeem his father and he puts aside all doubt, all hesitation, everyone--Yoda, Obi-Wan, Leia, all of rebel leadership--who would tell him it's impractical or foolish or not worth his time.

Do or do not?

Luke is going to do this.

He's not going to say, "Eh I'd really like it if my father redeemed himself, but I don't know if I can do it or if I should try or how I should go about trying."

He makes the decision that he's committed to that path and then stakes his life on succeeding.

He may be going against Yoda's specific opinion on Vader, but he's absolutely doing so in accordance with the commitment which Yoda helped to teach him.

but do u know what the god damn problem is. [not with the tropes just with me wanting populate this tag] the gimmick with the first is often about like. regret and remorse. oh theyve become a weapon but life is so much more than that. oh theyve done horrible things thats sad. and worst of all [again for my purposes] now lets heal them from this. lets see them not be this thing any more.

this does not work for my purposes cause. well. He's a gun. and hes a gun cause he wants to shoot people. hes pretty good at it when hes not a gun too. im positive in the grand scope of tf land theres A Megs who fits that kinda vibe. you know. the war is long. or its over. and hes left with the thing hes made of himself. but, to use a phrase from my fav tf toy review. g1 megs is Bad Bastard. hes a warlord. hes a goddamn cartoon villian. the only thing that ever forces his hand imminent treats to his life. which are usually, 1. whatever planet hes currently on is moments away from collasping, imploding, or exploding. 2. literally the most powerful forces of raw power or malevolence in the setting.

thats it. at all other times he seems pretty cool and of his own volition of the whole. Being a gun thing. also he tends to solve those other problems also by Being a gun. a gun that can talk and negotiate and compromise when needed but. still. the necessity of Being the Gun is pretty strong.

the second trope, the mismatch is completely on the objectivified versus object part. if someone is literally objectived and wielded, they are no longer in control, but they are still the instrument of violence. if metaphorical, perhaps the location of violence, the means of violence, but not the true perpetrator. either way. often a feeling that the body is not their own.

but with megs its like, yeah he turns into a hand gun! not a tank. or an automated cannon or turret (thats galv. aka purple megs, which interestingly is him being reformated to one of those malevolent forces will). so hes is an object. that other people can hold, and fire. someone else infact, needs to fire, (well give or take for loose continuity). but the thing is, this is not really a predictament that OTHER people put him into. hes a Man. who is a gun. part of his body is that he is also a gun. he can choose when he transforms, and Be a Gun. And then held, and fired. the depiction of it is usually quite authoritative. and just personality wise. hes not gonna let people forgot that HES THE GUN.

and i mean. to address the holding. specifically to single out oppie. thats someone who is supposedly. less about this whole shooting everything business. i mean. dont get me wrong he very much has a gun and uses it often. its War and hes the Good Guy™. but well he is Not a Gun, and he would not Want to be a gun.

so like. what u have is instead this dynamic of a very bossy gun that takes delight in Being the gun, that sometimes needs to throw himself into the hands of a guy who in the perfect world wouldnt shoot anything.

now granted. extant examples of this are more like 'shoot thing into space' or 'shoot the thing before it explodes' than, more pointed violence thats posed by the presence of The Gun. but go with me here. vibes.

The gun is the means of violence. But to be 'willing to pull the trigger' is to be willing to allow yourself to be the cause, the catalysts of that. so really it is the person who is NOT the gun who becomes implicated in the violence. he is forced to under circumstance, but not, importantly, literally forced, controlled or otherwise overriden.

and ofc. also regarding the intimacy of this arrangement. to complete this act of violence is to hold another person, or to fling yourself towards them and be held. completely fitting into the hands. but its a choice to be held and a choice to catch. and in showing this in smooth and compotent action, implies the not just physical prowess but automatic cooperation and perhaps comfort in the circumstance.

and The Gun is completely fine with this whole situation and is probably gonna laugh at the guy who isnt a gun and say something funny and innuendous as soon as possible.

An attempt at an actually good explanation of the head types

Let the takeaway be this: Curiosity, imagination & inquisitiveness is a shared characteristic between all of them.

With some 6 it gets shut down cause they get too bogged down in anxiety or superego correctness, kinda like those really numbed-out 3s sometimes, but the natural disposition is curious & imaginative as well. I mean, how would you concoct all those worst case scenarious without at least latent imagination?

Same for a tendency to want to analyze, understand and "track" what's happening, automatically looking for patterns. Also sometimes characterized as the funny triad, though, ive met some plenty funny 9s and 8s.

Another thing to note is that its not just "logic" that lives here but speculative imagination, future planning & conceptual thinking. What is logic but imagination that is disciplined by rules?

This is especially worth keeping in mind when you consider mbti combinations - ovsly Ts will be more overtly intellectual, Fs might show the imagination side more or be drawn to humanities-related concepts such as art, sociology, psychology... - though of course, both can have both. A xSFx who is a 6 will be more 'concepty' than a 9, in that sense that's a well-balanced combo.

All three tend not be noted for their perceptiveness, but immature individuals can also share the possible weakness of thinking their noggin is god's gift to mankind. (though the 6s are less obviously braggarts to avoid being targeted - more like, "people who share my politics are smart" or "its just common sense")

The fact that scary situations can stimulate planning is kind of an interesting hint at how the capacity for imagination evolved. With all 3 you can see a tendency to 'speed up' if something unforeseen happens that distinguishes them from the other triads, though it shows somewhat differently in each of them.

Now I have no clue about this at all as I don't really pick up on that sort of thing, but another commonality you sometimes hear mentioned which sounds kinda fascinating is a tendency for the eyes sometimes not quite match the rest of the expression or a lot of the expressiveness being in the eyes generally. Like someone acting aggro or cheery but you can tell from the eyes they're inwardly freaked out, or that's how I've heard it described.

So, now that we've established the commonalities and that no single one of them is "the" learning interested type, how do you nail which one you are? For this, it pays to keep in mind both the specific thinking style as well as the temperament that typically goes with it.

Soo... what kind of information can't you get enough of?

7 - the latest new stuff that is full of cool, exciting possibilities. Novelty, technological innovation, avantgardistic art & fashion, anything exciting adventurous & cool, working on a new project or skill every couple of months. Often very good at quick thinking, improvising, and talking people into almost anything. - this is most often an extrovert and usually an active, optimistic, confident, fun-loving and dynamic but not always all that reliable or responsible person. ~ sort of like an inventor or explorer who sees the potential in things. As a thinking style, it's the most associative & open ended, considering how all the multiple frameworks available could be used to solve your problem. Quick at concocting new plans on the spot. Like a mind map or web of loosely connected concepts. Focussed on securing good outcomes, can get anxious that they're not gonna get those good things. Tends to assume they're going to win, sometimes to the point of overconfidence or denial. Tends to discard ideas that are no longer useful or entertaining them & look for ever newer & better ones.

6 - keeping up with politics & important happenings, what is going on with the people in your circle, not missing any potential dangers or important developments, tests & questions everything not easily fooled by scams, looks for the truth behind everything & its trustwortiness - most often introvert but still somewhat sociable, but extrovert is possible - character wise, can be sceptical, argumentative, and a big worrier but also likeable, perseverant, funny, brave, and good team players. - a bit like a detective or journalist, looking for truths. As a thinking style, it's systematic and context-sensitive. Information is related to relationships, morals, political contexts, power dynamics etc. and categorizing things - but not in a simplistic way, but with awareness of how categories can intersect or contradict each other. Like building a map or grid. Focussed on preventing bad outcomes, can get anxious about those bad things happening. Tends to expect a struggle, sometimes to the point of overpreparation or combativeness. Tends to be concerned with whether to adopt or resist ideas, which should be adopted & which resisted, which are "correct" or "certain".

5 - indiscriminately retains all manner of unrelated random stuff just because, for its own sake. Will obsess endlessly over and absorb every last detail about anything that personally interests them even if its something totally obscure, completely theoretical, gross/disturbing, esoteric or of no practical use. Usually very strongly introverted. Blunt, cynical, eccentric and rather sensitive in disposition, but since they're so reclusive they can tend to be known only as "that weirdo who only talks about [current obsession]" - like a collector or philosopher. As a thinking style, its about looking for contrasts, underlying principles, and to try to look at things from as much of an unbiased perspective as possible. Like a decision tree or filing cabinet. Doesn't tie themselves to particular outcomes but rather to anticipate what's going to happen & how to navigate it. Can get anxious that they can't deal with what's coming. Tends to have low expectations, sometimes to the point of being defeatist or doomerism. Rather than rely on outside ideas, try to synthesize their own version, phrasing everything in their own words.

Addendum: I find a lot of confusions come from shared traits in triads being more emphasized in some of the typical descriptions - that's how you get 9s and 5s landing on 4, 6s landing on other reactives, and 6 and 7 landing on 5.

Doesn't help that there's been this shift in the later authos to discuss mostly the temperament for 7 and 6, but you gotta dig out palmer, maitri or naranjo to learn what that actually makes them mental types, whereas with 5, the nerd stuff stayed but all the specifity was lost in regards temperament - The defeatism angle alone would sort out all the mistyped 6s and 3s real quick if it was more emphasized.

Maybe this is in part cause 6 and 7 have roughly even F/T ratio whereas 5 somewhat skews toward T, though by far not as much as 8 or 1, or as much as 4 and 2 do the reverse.

Owen, without a doubt, would be Tigger. He's very energetic, can border on chaotic, but is also filled to the brim with optimism. They're both also extremely confident, though that can be to the detriment of those around them.

I don't know why, but I feel like Judd would be Eeyore. Maybe not to an exact T, and the comparison might be more apt for s1 Judd, but I think they're both very methodical about how they do things (I can not believe I just called EEYORE methodical oh my gosh).

While I don't think Judd is nearly as pessimistic and sad, I think they're both more a bit grounded in reality than the people (or animals) around tend to be.

I'm going to continue the trend of I don't know why I think this, but in my head, Carlos is Rabbit. Both very practical, well meaning but can lose sight of what it means to be a team. Not necessarily in a bad way, but just in the sense that sometimes, you need help; you can't do it all yourself.

I also feel like Rabbit reacting to the other animals of the Hundred Acre Wood getting into messes is how Carlos feels when the 126 tries to solve crimes without him or any police presence there.

Paul is Owl to me. I don't think he's nearly as egotistical as Owl can be sometimes (I get it, he's old and wise, you're gonna start patting yourself on the back at some point), but I do think they share a lot of other similarities. I think they're both very friendly and welcoming, and Owl's long-winded speeches reminds me of Paul breaking down everything he's noticed.

TK is Winnie the Pooh and I like to think that the way Winnie the Pooh feels about honey is how TK feels about love. Again, not the most direct counter-part, but they're both so lovable and loving.

Also, I feel like the other animals are always getting Winnie out of scrapes and really where does the line between constantly getting stuck in some type of hole and ending up in a coma begin and end?

Kanga is a hard one because I feel like it's a toss up between Nancy and Grace. I feel like they're both so similar to her and kind of in the same ways. Kind hearted, well meaning and oh so patient. It's funny, I feel like this is the one that makes the most sense, and for both of them!

Mateo is absolutely Roo. Energetic, bright-eyed and a bit green. Happy to jump (no pun intended, well, kind of intended) head first into anything even if it can be a little out of their reach.

Nancy and Marjan are hard to find similarities to, I'm not going to lie! I don't think there's any character that really captures Marjan's badassness enough, especially since all I'm left with is Piglet hahah.

I think Marjan might also be in the camp with Owen and be more aligned with Tigger than anyone else. Again, full of energy but can be a bit chaotic if left to their devices.

Nancy maybe has the smallest lit bits of sprinkling of Piglet, but only when it comes to playing softball. Other than that, I think she might be a bit more aligned with Rabbit in the sense she can be very practical and pull TK back down to Earth when he needs it.

MY TOLKIEN BLACK HEADCANONS because I understand him

A lot of people just chalk him up to be "a smart kid" a la kyle or wendy but dont really define it which bothers me. I think Tolkien is only really smart in say mathematics and biology and is more so an athlete than bookish. Mfer can do advanced algebra just fine but dont ask him too many questions about the civil war he just doesnt care okay.

Speaking of Tolkien has not read or seen anything okay his pop culture consumption is bizarre. He doesn't know what a harry potter is he doesn't know what star wars is and everything he knows about lotr has been against his will. He has lived off of direct to dvd disney sequels and whatever esoteric foreign artsy movie his parents are obsessed with in that week to seem so smart and pretentious. He is frankly a little too scared to ask too so he just plays along for the most part and skates by on whatever he knows second hand.

HE LOVES SPIDERS why dont we talk about how he loves spiders. Which just makes me think he LOVES bugs in general he's that kid that has an illustrated encyclopedia on bugs he reads for fun and if given the chance would go on a tangent on any random species if hes sure you wont make fun of him for it. I just know he has a lil terrarium and he would NEVER squish a bug ever in his life and he would be very upset if you did maybe distrust you even. His friends know to send him a pic of a cool bug if they come across one in the wild he loves that.

I don't think Madea is some exception to Tolkien I think he is just a very easily amused boy okay literally anything and everything makes him laugh. Tyler Perry in a dress? Hilarious. Kick a guy in the balls? Hilarious. Whoopie cushions? Puns? Banana peel? HILARIOUS. Its why he and Jimmy get along so well Tolkien is never a dull audience.

AND ON THAT NOTE i think Tolkien watches bad movies on PURPOSE cuz theyre funny in an ironic way alright he loves watching people genuinely try to make a movie and fail at it so spectacularly. Madea is a guilty pleasure tho no doubt about it.

He had a very obnoxiois karate kid phase. Not the movie I mean like he took karate classes and everyone had to know about it. You know the kind I'm talking about.

To keep it sort of brief i believe Tolkien's more of the one who gets his heart broken than be the heartbreaker. Hes very popular and his relationships are wonderful and passionate but they fizzle out fast - and not even necessarily from his end. Everyone says hes a great boyfriend and he always tries so hard but he's never "the one" and I imagine it eventually makes him a little jaded ngl, learn to take everything more casual and expect it to never really last for long. Which of course then ironically makes it a self made issue. Point is is he's the cool guy you like who never seems to care and is so effortless but deep down he cares a lot actually.

I think after the Faith+1 and Wing incidents Tolkien actually keeps his interest in music on the down low. He only plays the bass in private and skips karaoke night. Its just that the embarrassing memories make him cringe way too hard but he does genuinely love it still. You're gonna have to coax it out of him very gently.

I think he's the type to use social media in like little bursts where he joins in on specific trends and posts daily and then just stops within a week or so and a few months later when he comes back online he's surprised at his decent clout and then repeat. Very basic basic tho like selfies and five month old memes and his random opinion on whatevers relevant that may or may not age very poorly.

I don't like to think of Tolkien as the "mom friend" or whatever but I can definitely see his friend group seeking advice from him cuz hes 1) got the most relationship experience and 2) his parents are the most functional of all the parents in their group so they raised him properly to like, yknow, communicate and problem solve and stuff. A wild concept. Him actively mothering everyone tho? Not so sure about that like hes a rich only child where does he learn to take up that kind of role.

He is not above violence, drugs or alcohol LET HIM HAVE FUN for God's sake. He doesn't really smoke tobacco and he drinks socially but he is a stoner and will experiment with anything if the company's right. And obviously he'll only throw a punch if driven to his limit or in defense but my boy likes to witness some mindless violence at the very least.

Idk how to finish this post so I'll just say that Tolkien did in fact not see Black Panther IN FACT i would go so far as to say he is a comics-only truther even. That is all for now.

i feel like this episode was all over the place in the best way possible

for those unaware, i’m actually in the northern hemisphere for once which is why this is so late, i simply haven’t the time to watch it!!

to begin, why is he here

i love the asset yes, but cheesy is the last person i expected to see, is this balloon projecting the people he wanted to be friends with at the hotel??? i dunno, but this was such a silly scene

now, i had to rewind this bit at least five times to process what i saw

so remember what i said about balloon projecting? scratch that, i forgot this was a thing

first the fact that when he thought of fighting a shark the FIRST scenario that came to mind was him saving candle, that and the fact that he imagined her calling him “my spoon in silver armour” was so silly this fellow has read nothing but fairytales ever ok

also he was literally blushing do i have to say anything about that here? no, because this is tumblr and everyone understands everything

why are they here

i’ve been on a bfdi binge lately so i was actually very happy seeing coiny also the line about balloon only making friends with coins was so funny to me and i’m keeping that forever

can i just say, the first thing i thought when i saw this scene was “that’s something cobs would say”

like,,, i was kind of terrified this entire episode because mephone’s desperation to chase his aspiration reminded me of just cobs’ whole demeanour. i know its a little silly of me, but this idea that ‘revolutionary technology’ should solve it all is just a liiiittle too similar to the way i feel meeple functions

but maybe thats just me i dunno

do i really need to say anything

little mans has attachment issues, i don’t think he actually likes the contests and all that as much as he actually likes the contestants, and i don’t think he realises he can just be friends with them

i feel so bad because he’s been brainwashed by the people around him that he thinks that the only thing giving him purpose is this show, its tragic

okay so back to the silly, this caught me so off guard because i adored enanimat ensanitay and yellowangiru’s ii song parody videos when i was younger, so seeing this gave me such bad whiplash i had to pause and think a second

it was such a random callback (if it is at all) and i absolutely loved it

oh back to the sad again wow!!

i think mephone’s realising his fault in managing the show, getting too ahead of himself when presented the promise of longer air times, but the issue is that he thinks that this shows he isn’t fit to run the show at all

i think this belief that “one mistake means your conpletely incapable” may have stemmed from meeple in some form or another, especially considering all the flashbacks and all

this brings me so much emotion

look at how far they’ve come, like genuinely. from worst enemies to one of the closest friendships in season 3

they can communicate, they can be vulnerable with one another, and they’ve improved one another substantially

i often tell people that i’m not the biggest fan of iii3 because they almost completely changed nickel’s personality, and i still relatively stand by that, but seeing this version of nickel who is capable of change and development just warms my heart (even if it feels wrong)

this was so so sweet, and i was smiling every second of the elimination (i would say a first but box’s elimination existed too)

actually fuck it, here’s the discworld books I’ve already read and my thoughts.

1. The Colour of Magic

It’s alright, funny but not as captivating as some of the others. I remember watching the movie as a kid without knowing what it was

2. The Light Fantastic

Liked it much more than Colour of Magic, there’s just something... more creative about it? Also baby turtles

3. Equal Rites

Fun! First Granny appearance, and I like the attempt at witch vs wizard as something distinct

4. Mort

I really liked it! I mean, who doesn’t love Death? The gender stuff is annoying, and I did notice that he writes straight couples in a more miss than hit way early on 

5. Sourcery

I do enjoy the Ricewind books. The weird stuff with the side characters going on in the background is always... eh? I love the theme of expectations parents put on you, and having to follow them despite hating it so much. Not sure if it worked perfectly all the time, but good book.

6. Wyrd Sisters

Fun! Loved it, I love Granny, and I like the plot as well, and how they solve stuff

I loved it, I adored it. The quiet peace and sadness of it all... The quiet horror of being immortal and not wanting to be. I didn’t quite get all of the jokes I think, especially with the glass balls, but still so good.

GOOD. I really enjoyed the subversion of themes in fairy tales, and happiness vs being happy and also Granny being extremly willing to do horrid things to help people, or not to avert her eyes. I loved the New Orleans style and the magic and the gators. Good shit.

13. Small Gods

Struggled to put it down as I read it, I think I accidentally stayed awake till 2am finishing this, really good, made me feel things.

14. Lords and Ladies

AH. Very good. Delightfully creepy, I love the “Elves Suck” agenda. Genuinely scary. I believe Pratchett maybe wrote. Two. good hetero couples. All the others suck.
