🚨Minor Kaos spoilers, mostly about ships🚨

Genuinely losing my mind over the fact that the only relationship, the only form of love to receive divine support is Orpheus’s intense, overwhelming, needy love. Bc Orpheus doesn’t love Eurydice, he worships her. He puts her on a pedestal and devotes himself to her.

And obv there are like plot reasons for Dionysus’s support of Orpheus. But it keeps sticking out to me. Bc the gods don’t care about the sweet and equal relationships between Riddy and Caeneus or Nax and Theseus. Hell, Poseidon straight up ignores and completely disregards Minos’s love for his children, especially Ari.

And it’s just so interesting bc the only “love” to receive divine approval (twice!!) is Orpheus’s worshipful devotion. And I just think it shows so much about how the gods interact with humanity. Even those who care about and interact with humans fundamentally misunderstand human emotions relationships.

Choso who follows you around the bookstore because he’d rather be bored to death than not be around you. He’s so wrapped around your finger that while you’re studying he’ll sit on the floor or rest his head in your lap.

Choso who gets annoyed when you’re so focused on your book instead of him and insists that “If you’re going to read, at least read to me.”

Choso who critiques every book you buy, yet, secretly reads them and when he’s caught says, “I just wanted to know what you’re so caught up in.”

Choso who touches you while you read and forces you to concentrate on your book while he slips his fingers underneath your underwear and id you look up from your book once he’ll stop.

Husk: “I..I cannot. We cannot do this. This conversation is..I cannot do this.”

the funniest or rather only funny thing about the merlin finale is probably the fact that they had modern technology while filming. like, whenever you’re feeling sad about arthur dying just picture him coming back and merlin having to explain to him how an iphone works! this is something i think about a lot, like - that would be hilarious to explain to someone who was ‘having a nap’ for 1500 years an iphone and how it’s not magic??

Ok. So. I’ve been thinking…

Everyone involved from Tim to Oliver to Ryan has stated that they want to do the characters justice and tell a story “true” to the characters. IMHO there really isn’t a better story for Buck and Eddie in terms of character growth than them getting together.

Eddie has been constantly searching for a new maternal figure for Christopher and possibly even someone to just play “wife” with him so he can fulfill this heteronormative expectation of a having a traditional family unit that stems from his religious upbringing and what was modeled by his own parents. His identity and self image is that he’s a “nester, he nests”. He needs somebody to love. The rub is that none of his attempts to make that happen have made him happy. Buck is the solution to this. Buck is already a part of the family. What Eddie so desperately searches for in all of his failed relationships is what he already has with Buck and that does make him happy. He just doesn’t realize it yet.

Buck on the other hand is the opposite. Through his upbringing and trauma with his family life, Buck has felt neglected and unloved for a long time. In the earlier seasons, this manifests as hyper sexuality and a need to create intimacy with whoever he can project it on to. It’s quick and dirty and it does the trick for a little but it’s not satisfying and fulfilling the way he wants it to be. Buck needs to be loved. And his solution is Eddie. Buck has that lasting affection and intimacy with Eddie, and I’m not speaking sexually. What’s more intimate than having a key to someone’s house and being their child’s coparent/godparent? Buck also has the belief that he’s expendable and Eddie is the one to help him out of this mindset by making Buck Chris’s guardian in the event of death, which helps give meaning and weight to Buck’s self esteem because now Buck has a reason for self preservation: Chris. Also, Eddie is incredibly patient and kind when it comes to Buck. After the tsunami, Eddie sets Buck straight when he’s beating himself up about losing Christopher. Instead of being angry he lost Chris or just neutral and saying “it was out of your control”, Eddie actively reassures Buck in a positive way. Buck gets what he needs from Eddie. He just doesn’t realize it yet.

I saw something floating around that was really interesting and that I agree with: Eddie knows he loves Buck but doesn’t know he’s queer, and Buck knows he’s queer but doesn’t know he loves Eddie.

Whether or not they intentionally wrote them this way, whether they’re going for just box checking representation or shock value or fan satisfaction, what have you, the reality is that the product they currently have is currently set up in a way for them to do one of the most beautiful, unique, compelling queer love stories we have ever seen on network television. And I really hope they lean in to that.

I want NEED Eddie to realize in season eight that Buck has been in Christopher’s life (roughly) the same amount of time that Shannon was and that, eventually, he will have been in Chris’ life longer than she was. And I also want him to realize that he wants Buck to be in Christopher’s life for a long time and he wants Buck to be in his life for as long as possible AND that not only will Buck fight for Christopher harder than anyone else will, but he’ll also fight for Eddie harder than anyone else

batfam au where bruce gave up the batman costume when he became dick's dad, because he was mentally sane enough to realise that an actual child should not be fighting actual murders.

and the world carried on.

batman becomes a folktale, something that parents use to get their children to sleep, and something that every thug thinks about when the night just a little too quiet and things are going a little too well.

occasionally, some angsty teenager or some bitter man will make their own costume, and try to be batman. and it makes headlines, it keeps criminals in check. but these New Batmen never carry that mantle for very long.

Jason, Tim, Damian, Cass, Steph, Babs, Duke, everyone. They are never found, they are never rescued, they are never born. the villains never become villains. the joker disappears

sometimes, Alfred gets this feeling that there's someone missing, multiple someones, but he doesn't even know who. he mourns a family he's never had, and holds space for someone that he never knew.

but the world carries on

this all changes when two things happen very, very quickly.

One, some scrappy teenager flies to Ethiopia, looking for a mother he didn't even know and drops of the grid. completely unrelated to this teenager, a warehouse explodes

Two, dick starts poking around the manor, accidentally stumbling upon the remains of his father's past-- is father is Batman. was batman. and dick doesn't really know what to do with that information. so he does the only logical thing and tries to become the actual Batman.

At first, he tries to be batman without any training and immediately gets his ass handed to him. And, while he's dragging his broken body to the cave, he sees Alfred. Alfred, who patches him up and tells him that, if he's going to be batman, he needs to go back to the classics.

he needs to tell bruce.

he needs to tell bruce, or bruce is going to figure it out for himself. he isn't the worlds greatest detective for nothing, and it's better to tell him sooner rather than later.

when dick tells bruce, bruce... doesn't know what to think. he doesn't want his son -his precious son- to go out fighting the one-man war that he'd once tried to fight. but he also knows that there's probably nothing that he can do to stop dick.

the best way for Bruce to protect who he loves is to teach him how to fight. how to actually fight.

and so he does.

he trains Dick with everything that he knows. teaches him with the intensity and the drive that canon Bruce taught Tim. He will not lose his son, he will not let dick lose the one-man war. and he will not let his past as Batman be the thing that tears his family apart.

The Batman returns to the streets of Gotham. Criminal activity is at an all time low. the people who would have become villains have already moved on with their lives.

so the world carries on, bringing Batman with it.
