Jealous, much?
Tumblr media
18+ only. Smut ahead.
regina was pissed.
not mad, pissed.
she couldn't believe what she was seeing.
from her spot in the kitchen of whatever football player's house, she could clearly see gretchen grinding on y/n y/l/n.
it's not like she had the right to be mad at y/n. all she was to regina was a good hookup when aaron couldn't get the job done, which was 90% of the time. but regina couldn't help but feel anger and jealousy stir in her stomach. janis was right when she said regina was the apex predator of north shore, once she caught you, she refused to let go.
having become tired of seeing the two grind with each other, she decided to end it. finishing off her drink, she flipped her hair and made her way over to the pair. "gretchen, i heard jason was looking for you. you might wanna go find him." the girl gasped and ran off, looking for the sleazy boy.
y/n sighed as her dance partner ran off. "god, you can't let me have some fun?" regina took gretchen's place, smirking at how y/n was blatantly checking her out. she turned and began to grind her ass against y/n's front, making the girl groan. "you know, i'm no expert, but i don't think your boyfriend would like this gina."
regina felt heat shoot to her core at the sound of the nickname coming out of the girl's mouth. the blonde continued grinding on y/n, pulling the hottest sounds out of the girl's mouth. after the song ended, regina grabbed y/n's hand, pulling her up the stairs and into an empty bedroom. upon entering, y/n pushed regina up against the door, connecting their lips in a steamy kiss.
teeth and tongues clashed as the two made out against the door, y/n finally pushing regina on the bed, pushing the girl's dress up to her waist and burying her head in-between her legs.
regina ended up walking (limping) out of the bedroom and back to her boyfriend, who didn't even question anything.
the next day at school, regina couldn't stop thinking about y/n. unfortunately for her, she had no classes with the girl, only being able to see her at lunch. when she did finally see her, anger boiled up in her once again.
she was sitting next to gretchen when she finally caught sight of y/n. she was a few tables down from the plastics and saw that y/n was sitting awfully close to some girl named ashley, (according to gretchen). from what the blonde could see, ashley was running her hand up and down y/n's arm, purposefully pushing out her chest.
regina was steaming, no one was allowed to touch y/n like that besides her.
wait, what?
regina shook the thought off, getting up to get some cheese fries and a diet coke. walking back to her table, she would pass y/n and ashley. smirking to herself, she grabbed her diet coke and "tripped" spilling the can's contents on ashley, soaking her with the sticky liquid. the girl screamed and ran off to the bathroom, leaving a stunned y/n and smug regina behind. y/n looked up at the blonde and glared, before running off after ashley.
regina stood there, floored. why would y/n run after ashley when regina was standing right there?
later that day, after regina got home, she got bored and decided to text y/n to come over.
queen bitch👑: come over.
hottest person alive🥵: can't. hanging out with ashley.
queen bitch👑: ditch her and come let me sit on your face.
hottest person alive🥵: no.
regina was reaching her anger limit and decided to spice things up a bit. she unzipped the jacket she was wearing and pushed her breasts up with her arm, making them look bigger.
queen bitch👑:
Tumblr media
please. i need you.
hottest person alive🥵: give me an hour.
regina fell back on her bed out of breath and sweaty. y/n kissed her inner thigh softly before standing to her feet, putting her clothes back on. regina watched with a pout on her face as the girl got dressed. "where are you going?" y/n sighed. "since someone was extremely demanding and needy, i have to make it up to ashley." regina scoffed at the mention of the girl.
y/n took notice. "are you mad or something?" regina scoffed once more. "no, why would i be mad that you're choosing to hang out with that skank rather than stay here with me." y/n looked at the blonde girl shocked. " ashley isn't a skank. she's actually really nice and i'm kinda excited to see where things go." regina sat up at that.
"what do you mean where things go? what about us?" y/n was the one to scoff now. "what do you mean us? there is no us. you have aaron, or did you forget?" regina rolled her eyes. "this isn't about aaron, we are talking about us." y/n shook her head. "again, there is no us. you're too scared to come out so there has never been an us. i'm not your property."
regina felt her heart break at how sad y/n sounded. the girl spoke up again. "you know what? this was fun while it lasted but i don't think we should hook up anymore regina. you have aaron and i am hoping to have ashley. i'm not going to let you ruin it because you're jealous over a relationship that was nothing more than fucking. and until you can come to terms with that, don't talk to me."
with that, y/n walked out of the door, and out of regina's life.
it had been a few weeks since the incident and y/n hadn't left regina's mind. the queen bee couldn't stop thinking of the girl and how much she fucked up. she had broken up with aaron the day after the incident. shockingly, he took it okay. he had his eye on someone else anyway and couldn't figure out how to break things off.
everything had affected regina's behavior at school, the girl being more bitchy than before, especially towards ashley. gretchen had been keeping regina updated with y/n and ashley and how they were progressing, but she did drop a bomb on regina one day at lunch.
"you know, i heard that ashley and shane have been hooking up behind y/n's back, ashley only got with y/n as a bet." regina's heart dropped at the news. she knew that bitch was slimy. y/n hadn't spoken to her since d-day so regina had no idea how to break the news to her. luckily for the blonde, she wouldn't have to.
an hour later, while sitting in her english class, regina got a text from gretchen.
gretch: y/n found out about ashley and shane. her and shane got in a fight and they both got suspended.
regina's stomach sunk reading the text. she immediately grabbed her bag and got up, ignoring the teacher's calls. she sent a text to the plastics group chat informing them that she was leaving and for them to drive themselves home.
she hopped in her jeep, heading towards her destination.
she pulled in to y/n's driveway, thanking the lord that she was home alone. she got out of her car, heading up to the front door and letting herself in. she found y/n sitting on the couch in her living room, staring at her hands. the blonde slowly approached the girl, kneeling in front of her and gently grabbing her hands. y/n seemed to kind of snap out of her stupor, looking at the blonde blankly.
"gina? what are you doing here?" regina's heart fluttered at hearing the familiar nickname. "i heard what happened with ashley. i wanted to check in on you and make sure you were okay." y/n shook her head chuckling. "since when do you take care of me?" regina sighed and kissed y/n's bruised knuckles gently.
"since i figured out i'm in love with you." y/n froze. regina was in love with her? the blonde noticed her silence and looked up at y/n nervously. she wasn't expecting to drop that bomb on y/n so soon. y/n took a shaky breath. "you love me?" regina nodded. "i think i've always been in love with you, but i've been worried about keeping up a certain image that i just denied those feelings for you. but then we started hooking up and the feelings got stronger."
y/n noticed a few stray tears running down regina's cheeks. she reached up and cupped her cheek, gently wiping the tears off her face. regina sniffled and continued.
"i know it's toxic of me to think this but i thought if i kept you close with the hookups, that i could have the best of both worlds. but then you ended things and i lost you and i realized that i didn't wanna go on without you. so i broke up with aaron and was going to go after you but then i thought you and ashley were happy. and i didn't want to take that happiness from you. but i really am in love with you. and i want to be the one who makes you happy. to be the couple that every gets jealous of. i'm so sorry for what i put you through. just please give me a chance."
y/n couldn't take it and pulled regina into a passionate kiss. this kiss wasn't like any kiss the two had shared. the other kisses had been more of a hunger, desire burning in the pit of their stomachs. this kiss they were sharing now, felt like a missing puzzle piece was sliding into place. the two poured their feelings for each other in the kiss.
regina got up, not pulling away from the kiss, straddling y/n, her hands automatically going to the blonde's hips. the two eventually pulled away to catch their breaths. regina began to trail hot, wet kisses down y/n's neck, leaving marks for everyone see. y/n threw her head back, giving regina more access.
the blonde began to slowly grind on y/n's leg, searching for friction. y/n noticed and guided the girl's movements, slowing her down. regina whined into y/n's neck, the girl shushing her softly. "shhh baby. slow down, i wanna savor this." regina turned into putty at the pet name, listening to the girl as she rocked her hips slower.
y/n thanked the heavens above that regina decided to wear a skirt today. she flipped the skirt up. y/n smirked at the sight of a lacy, black thong barely covering regina. she pulled the girl down directly on her thigh, the blonde letting out a moan. y/n guided regina to grind at a steady pace, the blonde letting out soft whimpers at the feeling.
"you're so beautiful gina. so perfect. and all for me aren't you?" regina nodded as y/n's hands guided her to pick up the pace. "yes. yes, all yours y/n." y/n smiled, beginning to kiss down the blonde's neck, leaving her own marks. regina felt the bubble of pleasure sitting in the bottom of her stomach grow.
y/n smiled at the sight of the queen bee being putty in her own hands. y/n slid one of her hands between regina's legs, gently rubbing her clit through the flimsy fabric. regina gasped at the feeling, throwing her head back.y/n smirked. "god, i wish you could see yourself right now baby, you look so perfect." regina sped her movements up, chasing her high.
y/n could tell she was getting close, so she began to help her out by applying more pressure to her clit. "i want you to cum for me regina. make a mess on my thigh." regina couldn't hold it anymore. the bubble popped and her orgasm washed over her in waves. y/n helped her ride it out, the girl gently shaking on her thigh.
"good girl. so beautiful. so perfect." y/n continued to rain praise down on regina as as she gently picked the girl up and headed to her room. she laid the blonde down on her bed and went into her bathroom to grab a wet cloth. she came back and gently cleaned regina up, shushing the girl's soft whimpers.
she then threw the cloth in her hamper before going to grab some sweats and a t-shirt for the blonde. after a few minutes of gently rag dolling regina into the clothes, she grabbed a water bottle from her mini fridge and a power bar, urging the blonde to take.
water drank and power bar eaten, regina laid on y/n's chest as the girl stroked her hair. y/n spoke up. "will you be my girlfriend gina?" regina sat up slowly, turning to y/n. "if you think i was leaving here without becoming your girlfriend, you are crazy. of course i'll be your girlfriend you dork. you can't give me that amazing of an orgasm and expect me to not scoop you up."
y/n laughed and pulled the blonde girl into a soft kiss, cementing the unspoken promise of love between the two girls.

Snippet I probably won't use
“Can you fix it?” Jason whispered, eyes locked on the young man before him with a kind of long-dead faith. His knees had grown soaked where he knelt before him.
“I’m sorry,” he said, and Jason was shocked to see real tears in those bright green eyes, “there's nothing I can do.”
Something in him tightened, whatever hope he’d allowed to build in him quickly morphing to anger.
“Why not?”, Jason half yelled, the words tasting too much like desperation in his mouth.
“The thing is, the Pits, they're a part of you. The reason the rage never faded was because of what you are; a revenant. Decades of death throws permeated the ectoplasm, and when you were tossed in they saw what you were and bonded with your core. Like sees like and all that. What matters is that trying to remove those pieces from the pits would just break your core.”
“So?”
“Jason,” narrow hands wrapped around his face, the harsh cold shocking him out of himself, how did he know his name?, “it would kill you. Actually kill you. As in, do not pass go, do not collect, completely, totally gone.”
Jason fought the urge to repeat himself. He had things to live for, he had to remember that, no matter how much he was doubting their weight in the face of this new hit. He had never expected the pits to be cured, so why was he breaking over the confirmation of his suspicion? Why was he so hurt by the realization that it really was just him? Jason’s heart was that his heart? hurt like a bullet wound three days after when the ache set in.
“Hey, hey, look at me.”
Jason did. For the first time, he fully saw the man above him. He looked like an angel.
“It's ok. You’re ok. I know you don't believe that, but it's true. Look at you, you’ve got all the rage and sorrow of untold souls clawing at your head, and you still choose every day to be good. I’ve seen folks like you. Most take decades to move past their pain, but you? You took two or three years. That's like a week in ghost terms. You took all that hurt and redirected it to make your world a better place. I don't know about you, but that's pretty damn impressive. The pits are you, yeah, but so’s the progress.”
“Pretty damn hard to get excited ‘bout that right now.” Jason half-spat, half-sighed.
“Yeah.” the man pulled back for a moment, only to settle down next to Jason, one arm wrapping around his shoulder.
“What, no great wisdom to impart?”
“No, sorry.”
Jason looked up. It was a rare clear night, a new moon darkening the sky, and above he could just see a handful of constellations not drowned out by city lights. Thinking about the strange silver-haired angel next to him, some little childlike piece of him wondered if he was the moon cast down from heights to hold him.
“Pretty night.”, he said, cursing himself for breaking the soft quiet that had blanketed the two.
“Yeah, yeah it is.”

Like Betta Fish Do Part 20
Chapter 15 when on Ao3, Masterpost WC: 3354 CW: Canon Typical Violence, Blood, Injury, arguing
There was so much blood already. Danny peeled off Jason’s— Red Hood’s— jacket looking for the wound.
If he had been quicker—
No, he couldn’t think that way.
He found the stab wound under Jason’s left arm, shoved right in a point where the armor was less reinforced. Danny pressed the palm of his hand tight to it and took a shuddering breath.
The pull had been so quiet. It had taken a moment to notice what had woken him from sleep and then another to realize what it was— that it was Jason’s core flickering to life and calling out. Not calling out, screaming.
Danny had transformed as he lept out of bed. Before he flew off, the case of ectoshot was hastily grabbed from the back corner of his closet. But Jason hadn’t been at his place. Danny had been forced to fly through the streets and alleyways to find him.
He hadn’t know what to expect as he stepped through the wall of the apartment.
His boyfriend bleeding out on the floor, dressed as Red Hood, wasn’t it.
Danny curled forward, resting his forehead against Jason’s. He was just so glad he got the ectoshot in him— that Nightwing, that Dick who was Nightwing, wasn’t able to stop him.
Even if Dick hated him now.
His fingers still twitched with the feeling of electricity running through him from the blow.
“Do you know how to do stitches?” Dick snapped as he came back with an armful of supplies.
“Yes.” On himself. He didn’t think Dick would want to hear that though (or anything Danny had to say).
Dick tossed the suture kit at Danny and got to work setting up an IV in Jason’s other arm. Silently, Danny cut away enough of Jason’s shirt to start cleaning the wound, keeping pressure on the spot itself as he first cleaned the area around.
“…how bad?” Dick asked, glancing over once he got something hooked up to the IV. Danny thought it might be saline, but he wasn’t sure. They never had that sort of stuff for him.
“It’s… deep, but the bleeding slowed with the pressure,” Danny said, mostly keeping his head down. It was different stitching someone else up. (How did Jazz do this? He owed her such a gift basket.)
Dick nodded and hooked Jason up to some sort of machine.
Danny focused on making all of his stitches neat. He didn’t want Jason to scar too badly. Fuck, he was stitching up his boyfriend. He hoped that Dick would let him stay until Jason woke up at least.
His hand shook. He had to take a moment to breathe to get them steady again.
He had almost lost Jason. Would he have even known? What cover story would Dick had given him, if he even thought to reach out? His boyfriend had been out there, fighting crime, with a developing core and had almost died for it. And this time there would have been no Clockwork to turn back time and let Danny save them. Not unless losing Jason was enough to—
No, nope, not thinking about Dan.
Danny was going to keep that dark spot inside him locked tight away.
It was all fine. Jason was alive. His fledgling core buzzed just on the edges of Danny’s senses. It hadn’t been snuffed out.
Danny tied off the stitches neatly and cut the thread.
-
Dick tucked Jason’s arm onto the couch as he settled him, careful not to jar the IV or the blood pressure monitor. Jason’s numbers were good. Jason’s numbers were better than they should be. That was… Dick was going to be grateful about that.
“Danny,” the other said suddenly.
“What? No, it’s—”
“No, my name, it’s Danny,” the Guy— Fish— Danny rasped from where he was slumped back against the wall. The guy, Danny, looked wrecked. There was a fevered panic to his eyes that Dick was sure he matched. A smear of blood was bright on his tanned cheek and his clothing (were those… pajamas?) were stained with it. “I figure… I figure you should get to know that, considering…”
“I guess… good to officially meet you or something. I’d shake your hand, but,” Dick looked down at his hands covered in his brother’s blood— just like Danny’s were.
“He’ll be alright.”
“You can’t know that,” Dick snapped. Things could always take a turn.
“I can. It’s why I needed to get him to drink that stuff.”
Anger flared in Dick’s gut at the reminder of Danny forcing Lazarus water down Jason’s throat. “Right. About that—”
“You can still punch me if you want to, I said you could,” Danny interrupted. “Just… not with the sticks again, please? I’ve— me and electricity have a bad history.”
He died.
Electrocution.
His heart stopped.
Dick felt sick. If— if Danny wasn’t a LOA plant, if he had told Jason the truth about his past, then Danny had been killed by electricity as a teen.
And Dick had hit him with his escrima while it was electrified.
Dick watched Danny’s fingers on his left arm twitch.
Forget him punching Danny, Jason was going to punch him.
“…go clean up first. You’re staying here? I mean, so you have extra clothing?” he asked, looking at the apparent pajamas (boxers and an old t-shirt) again.
“What?” Danny’s brows furrowed. “No?”
Okay then, another point to blind panic. “You… ran here in your boxers?”
“I, no? It’s… kinda? I didn’t run, but…” Danny trailed off.
Nothing was making sense.
One thing at a time.
“Go shower. There’s a draw labeled RR, the clothes in there should fit.”
With the wobble Danny gave as he stood, Dick was a little worried about him staying on his feet. Shock might be an issue. Dick should think about making tea.
Danny was watching him warily. “You’ll… you’ll let me stay then? At least until he wakes up?”
Dick got that sick feeling again.
“Yep. But go clean.”
Dick could take care of some of the blood on the floor while Danny did that. At least get it where they wouldn’t slip in it. He kept an ear on the sounds of the shower. It was seeming like Danny really cared about Jason, that the adoration he had seen in Danny’s eyes the other day wasn’t a lie, but the guy still had Lazarus water.
He couldn’t trust him completely.
The floors were clean enough by the time that Danny padded out of the bedroom in Tim’s sweats and a hoodie that that could only be Jason’s. He was completely drowning in it. Danny noticed Dick staring and picked nervously at the oversized piece.
“I just…”
“No. I get it. I’ll prob do the same,” Dick admitted, softly. “Can you put water on for tea?”
Danny nodded and padded around him with a wide berth. Dick’s stomach roiled again as he moved to the bedroom. Almost all the blood came off with his uniform, so he just quickly changed, washed his face (no point in the domino at this point) and hurried back out.
Danny was still in the tiny kitchen.
Dick took the time to strip Jason of the rest of his clothing but boxers. He had just covered him with a blanket when the kettle whistled. It must have startled Danny because there was a banging and then cursing.
The cursing had kept up as quite muttering that trailed off into a loud sigh just before Danny came out with two mugs of tea.
Dick took his gratefully and tucked himself onto the edge of the couch by Jason’s propped up feet. Danny settled for the armchair. Dick pushed his teabag around with the spoon, grounding himself in the warm metal handle. He wouldn’t drink it— it could be poisoned— but the warmth helped.
“I want answers.”
“I figured.” Danny was cradling his own mug, face twisted in a little frown. “There’s a lot I won’t give you until Jason is awake to agree. They’re his secrets too.”
“If he agrees?”
Danny rubbed at the back of his neck. “Then I’ll tell. I mean, you’re Nightwing and apparently I’m dating Red Hood. I figure you can keep secrets if you need to.”
Oh. “You didn’t know before tonight.”
“Nope. And what a way to find out,” Danny said with a hysterical sounding laugh that he clamped down fast with a hand over his mouth. Dick could see him take a few purposeful breaths through his nose. “Sorry.”
Dick gave a helpless little shrug. What did someone say to any of this? “It’s a lot. I get it.”
“Not really.” Danny gave him a mirthless smile back when Dick shot him an incredulous look. “I thought I would be done with the whole hero bullshit when I moved to Gotham.”
Oh.
“Retired small town hero at your service. I guess hero was dubious title depending on who you asked. Even in the end some of them preferred menace. I wasn’t… expecting to get caught back up in any of it. That wasn’t the plan.”
Dick glanced from Danny, who was practically hunched around himself now (and looking so tiny in Jason’s hoodie), and over to Jason.
“He knows,” Danny confirmed. “Not any details, just the basics, but he knows. And I… I didn’t know. Not about any of this.”
Fucking hell Jason… “He wouldn’t have told you because of us. Learn about one of us…”
“…and it gets to be pretty clear who everyone is?” Danny said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “Who would have thought, Bruce Wayne is Batman, not his sugar daddy.”
Despite the tense air, Dick couldn’t help the snort of laughter. “That’s always one of our favorite ones. I guess this is you saying you’re not with the League of Assassins then?”
“The who?”
“The ones who have the Lazarus water.”
“Fuck no, can you imagine me as an assassin? Like, ignoring the whole killing part, I am… not subtle enough.” Danny finally took a drink of his tea. “And it’s not Lazarus water. They’re connected maybe, I think, but not the same thing at all. The Lazarus water is why my stuff can help Jason though. Which that is some of what I’m only explaining once Jason is awake.”
“Why do you have it?”
Danny shrugged, the movement too stiff to be carefree as Danny might be hoping. The question clearly bothered him. “Because it helps me too. Because I died too. Because I was revived too. Mine just happened pretty instantaneously. I haven’t… pried into the details, but I get the feeling Jason’s wasn’t.”
A shuddering breath ran through Dick and he tamped it down quickly, clearing his throat. “No. No it wasn’t. But same goes for me here, that’s not my story to tell for Jason.”
Danny gave an understanding little nod.
-
Jason’s everything hurt. Fuck why did his everything hurt?
“Hey, don’t try to move.”
“Dickie?” Jason rasped.
Right. Burning sensation, stabbed, called Dick.
“Yep, I’m here Jaybird. I got here in time. And… and so did Danny.”
“What?” Jason jolted up and then immediately regretted it as pain flared through his side.
Danny really was there, sitting in the ratty armchair, legs pulled up this chest, arms wrapped around them, and mug in hand. He looked so small— small and miserable.
“He was here to pour Lazarus water down your throat.”
Jason groaned and let his head fall back against the couch. “It’s not Lazarus water.”
“How do you know that?” Dick snapped.
Damn, Dick was upset. He was hard to deal with when he was upset. Dick was a real act first, smile after sorta guy.
“Because I’ve drank it before and it doesn’t rile up the Pits, Dickie. Does the opposite.”
“…what do you mean?”
“Means it calls them down. Not… it’s not a cure or anything, we don’t know if they’ll go away completely, but they’re less with the ectoshots.”
“And you know that for sure? You’ve done tests? Rounded up a bunch of Pit mad mice and ran tests?”
Jason only didn’t roll his eyes because of how badly his head hurt. “Yeah, sure, that’s exact what I did. What the fuck Dickie, no, I didn’t—”
“So you just took this shit on his,” Dick spit the work venomously, gesturing at Danny; Danny who flinched back, “word on this?”
“Back off, Dick, you don’t get it!”
“No, you don’t get it! You took this ectoshot without running any tests! Jason—”
“Yes, I did!” Jason shouted over Dick’s lecture. “I was tired, Dick. I was tired of being angry. I was tired of being scared of being angry— of what I would do! I was tired of hurting the people I love! I was tired… I was tired of you all flinching away from me when I spoke too loud or moved too quick.”
Jason slumped back down onto the couch, rubbing wearily at his face with his good arm. “I was tired. And you know if I had taken it to Bruce he would’ve wanted to run tests and trials and I wouldn’t have gotten to use it for months or even years and I didn’t— I don’t know if I had years, Dick, not with what’s left of my sanity intact. Not with… not with my family intact.”
“Jay—”
“And it would have made Danny have to expose himself to the Bats. That wasn’t fair, Dick. I couldn’t—”
Dick just sunk down next to the couch and wrapped his brother up in a hug. “I’m sorry. That wasn’t fair of me. I was just scared too. I can’t lose you again. And never, never did I not touch you because I was afraid. I held back because I didn’t know if the touch was welcome. I didn’t want to hurt you and… and in doing that I hurt you.”
Jason dug his fingers into the hoodie Dick was wearing. His hoodie. “You’re a fucking clothing thief.”
“Danny started it,” Dick mumbled into Jason’s shoulder.
“Yeah, well, I think I deserve some comfort. I barged into my boyfriend bleeding out on the floor because, oh, he’s Red Hood,” Danny drawled. “And yeah, we’re talking about that later and how stupid of you it was to go out and fight crime while taking the shots!”
Jason winced. “I’m s—”
“No,” Danny said, cutting him off. “Not now. We are talking about it later. Right now I am pissed off and I hurt—”
“What? Why are you hurt?”
“That’s…” Danny started before he cut himself off with a frown and looked away.
Dick stiffened in Jason’s arms.
That wasn’t a good sign. “Dick… what did you do?”
“I came in and he was trying to poor Lazarus water down your throat!”
“It’s not Lazarus water.” Jason and Danny coursed at the same time.
“But I thought it was! And that he was trying to hurt you!”
“What did you do?” Jason growled, pushing Dick back enough to see his brother’s face.
Dick wouldn’t meet his eyes. “…I hit him with my escrima.”
“Your— were they electrified?”
“Yes.”
“You— And— After I told you that Danny had died from being electrocuted to death?!”
“Wait—” Danny cut in. Why did Danny sound upset— why had he gone ashen? “You told him I died— how I died?”
“I— yes?” Jason wanted to defend himself and he didn’t even know why. “That you were electrocuted in a lab accident and your heart stopped for a bit.”
Danny buried his face in his knees.
“Danny— I…” Jason was missing something. Something like… “Cultural differences?”
“Yeah.” Danny sounded slightly strangled. “Let’s go with that.”
“I thought he was trying to hurt you! I’m sorry!”
“He was just trying to protect his brother, Jason, I get that,” Danny said. He tilted his head up to rest it on his cheek on his knees. “I would kill for my sisters.”
Jason huffed, “I’m still—”
“You’re allowed to be,” Danny said.
“You can hit me if you want,” Dick offered.
“How about…,” Jason trailed off, utterly exhausted again. “How about you just get me some tea?”
“Herbal,” Dick said, standing, “Your blood vessels have been through enough without caffeine.”
Jason waited till his brother was in the kitchen to ask, quietly, “Are you really alright? If you’re not comfortable around Dick...”
“No. I mean, yes, I’ll be fine, just a little… twitchy. And no don’t ask Dick to— we’ll be fine. He had a reason. And I… um… he might be afraid of me too. I may have sunk him into the floor for it.”
“I— okay,” Jason said, having to take a moment with that. “Guess we’re explaining that.”
“Your lead.”
“Fish,” Jason almost pleaded. “You can’t want that. Not when I didn’t tell you—”
“I said later.”
Jason just nodded.
“You both can obviously keep secrets. I’ve… given things away, putting him in the floor. I told him I died and came back too- just not… how.”
“I’m sorry about telling him that— I didn’t think about it. It would have just been like saying I knew someone who drowned and had CRP.”
Danny sighed, just looking so tired. “If I asked you to tell me how you died?”
Jason recoiled at the thought.
“Exactly.” Danny’s smile was sad. “It’s okay. Thank you for saying sorry.”
Not knowing what else to do, but knowing what he needed, Jason held out his good arm, careful of the IV line. Danny uncurled, setting his mug aside, and took the offer. Jason felt something in him settle at having Danny tucked against him.
“What does it feel like?” Danny asked softly.
“Hum?”
Gently, Danny pressed his hand to Jason’s chest. “Your core.”
“Is that—? Burning. It feels like burning. I… that’s not right, exactly. It feels like molten heat.”
Danny hummed and learned over to press a kiss to that spot on Jason’s chest before resettling.
Dick— timing as impeccable as always— came out when Danny was breathing easily again. He handed over the tea in a to-go mug so Jason didn’t have to lean up much to sip at it and settled in the vacated armchair.
“So…,” Jason started eventually. He rubbed his hand up and down Danny’s back. “Like I said and maybe shouldn’t have, Danny died, briefly, in his parents lab. Electrocuted by one of their machines. He came back different because of that machine.”
Dick was quiet for a moment before asking, “Meta?”
“Close enough,” Jason said. “A lot of it the ecto— something his parents were studying as… paranormal scientists.”
“…okay.”
Danny laughed (the sound a little hysterical). “Right? Dead juice does a lot for you if you’ve died.”
“And it must have done a lot for me,” Jason said, before they could get much more into Danny’s situation. “Something in that graveyard brought me back before the Al Ghuls. Whatever the Lazarus water is— and it might be some of the same stuff to start— it’s gone wrong. The ecto Danny’s parents, and now Danny, extracts is pure. It’s basically like a transfusion for me.”
“Okay, right, sure, healthy dead juice,” Dick said, running a hand through his hair. “Are you going to… will you get powers too?”
“Maybe,” Jason said, trying to sound casual. “Or maybe I’m too fucked up from the Pits. But it’s helping Dick, it really is.”
“I do have research on this. I didn’t just give Jason something I knew nothing about,” Danny said. “And I drink it myself if I’m hurt or ill.”
“Like when you were a hero?” Dick asked, following it up with a full body sigh as he just sunk into the armchair.
“You told him?” Jason was surprised.
Danny shrugged in Jason’s arms. “It seemed the only way to explain why I reacted the way I did to the thing we’re not talking about yet.”
“Yeah, okay,” Jason said, kissing the top of Danny’s head. He wouldn’t press tonight. He was in no state for it anyways.
He just hoped that conversation would go well.
He just hoped he wouldn’t lose Danny.

AN: So no one is really happy in this part- but at least they're talking? And they'll have to talk more too. There's also a lot of trying (and failing) not to panic by all the boys. But hopefully this settled a lot for you all!
Sorry if there's more mistakes than normal (don't need them pointed out, they'll be caught in the rewrite and beta) but my hands and my brain have both been really rebelling against me. Proverbial fingers crossed for the new meds I started today to do some good!
(It might be a few weeks before the next part, btw, looking at my progress.)

Carry Your Heart: Danny's Arc Part 1
So I've collected all my snippets from the 1000 follower ask game (and added 800+ words). So enjoy the next part of Carry Your Heart!
Story Summary: Danny meets a ghost, Jason, in the Realms one day when cursing out Chaucer and Mr. Lancer both. Jason is determined to make him see the error of his ways.
And it turns out he can offer his help in more than just English.
They get closer and closer. Then they have their first kiss. Jason, still haunted by his own death, isn't willing to date Danny if he can't grow up by his side. He doesn't want to hold his boyfriend back or face their inevitable breakup when Danny gets too old for him. And he misses his family more than he can say.
He goes to seek out Desiree to make a wish.

Danny floated back and forth—pacing without legs—in front of the door to the examination room. Frostbite was in there with Jason. Other yetis rushed in and out, most able to spare him nothing more than a sympathetic look as they hurried off to get some medicine or another expert or a new device.
He just wanted to know.
What had happened to Jason? He’d been fine the last time they’d seen each other. It’d been perfect. Jason had enjoyed the date and even kissed him and he was supposed to be there again today. He just wanted his boyfriend.
He landed heavily on the floor, and buried his face in his knees, back pressed against the wall just waiting for someone, anyone, to tell him anything.
But it was hours more before Frostbite came out. And when he did, his face was grim.
“I’m sorry, great one. We cannot determine what has happened to your companion nor how to help him.”
Danny core stuttered, and he launched himself at the yeti, wrapping him in a hug. “No, you have to be able to do something. Please. He can’t—” His breath caught. He wouldn’t finish the sentence. Voicing it would make it true.
Frostbite hugged him back, his thick arms and fur made his hugs the most comforting ones Danny had ever felt. “We will, of course, continue to research Jason’s condition and try new treatments. However…”
Danny tensed and sniffed, trying to keep himself from succumbing to tears again. “However?”
“Jason is a fire core. The Far Frozen is not an appropriate environment for him while he is in such a delicate state. A few hours, even a day or so, every few weeks will not hurt and will allow us to try new therapies. But he will not thrive if he stays here longer than that.”
Danny lost the fight and cried into his mentor’s chest. Where else could he take Jason? Where would he be safe? What would happen if he brought him home and his parents found him? Would they even recognize what he was?
Before too long, though, Danny pulled away. “Will he be safe here for just a bit longer? I need to go home. See if, see if I can keep him safe.”
“Of course, Great One. We will watch over your friend for as long as you need us to. And we will prepare a heated chamber for him to rest in. But I urge you to return quickly.”
Danny nodded. “I will. Will he… Does he understand what’s going on? Can I say goodbye?”
Frostbite stepped back and placed a giant paw on Danny’s back. “We do not know what he may be aware of while he is in this state. But you are, of course, welcome to say your goodbyes. If he is aware, I am certain he will appreciate them.”
Frostbite led him into the room. Jason, appearing as a mostly blackened coal, his fire only barely visible deep in his core, was floating over a pedestal, three other yetis around him taking notes on tablets.
“The Great One wishes to speak to his suitor,” announced Frostbite when they entered. “Please give them some privacy.”
The yetis all murmured their agreements and filed out, each wishing luck and good health and condolences to Danny as they did.
“I shall be just outside. Take as long as you need.”
“Is there anything I should know? Will I hurt him if I touch him or anything?”
Frostbite shook his head. “Be gentle, of course, but there is little you can do by accident that will worsen his condition.” He patted Danny on the head, then followed his people out of the room.
For a minute, Danny was frozen. Jason was just a few feet away, but Danny couldn’t bring himself to move closer. He didn’t want to do this. Why did this have to happen now? When things were finally going well for him?
Danny sniffed again and floated forward. “Hey, Jay,” he started. “Um, Frostbite says that he and his yetis can’t figure out what happened or how to help you.” Danny’s voice cracked, but he kept going. “I’m… I’m gonna do what I can to help you. Find the people or medicine that can help.” He reached out a hand and gently brushed the edge of Jason’s core. “I just… I need to make sure I can keep you safe, first. I’m gonna, I’m gonna tell my parents. And if, when, they accept me, I’m gonna come back for you and bring you home.
“And then my parent’s can help find a cure for you, too. They’re brilliant, you know,” Danny choked back a sob. “With them and Frostbite working together? We’ll have you fixed up right away. So hang tight, okay? I’ll be back for you soon.” Danny leaned forward and pressed a light kiss to Jason’s core. The surface was rough; after pulling away, he rubbed at his lips, half expecting to see soot on his gloves. But they were clean. With a sigh, he turned and left the room, only glancing back once when he got to the door.
“Great One, are you ready to depart?” asked Frostbite from the hall.
Danny peeled his eyes away from his boyfriend and nodded. “Yeah. I am. I’ll be back soon, though. I promised.”
“I have full faith in you. I wish you safe travels.”
Danny gave a half-smile. “Thanks. I just need to make sure I have a safe place to take him. Once I confirm that, I’ll be back to collect Jason.”
“I shall have sentries posted to watch for your return.”
With one last thanks, Danny left.
The trip to the portal seemed both endless and like it was over in no time. Rumors had spread from the mad dash he’d taken to the Far Frozen and no one bothered him on his return.
And then he was in front of the portal. With a deep breath, he turned invisible and crossed over. His parents weren’t in the lab. Good. That meant he had a few minutes. He could get Jazz, let Sam and Tucker know what had happened. Prepare for what was going to come next.
He transformed and made his way upstairs. No parents in the living room or kitchen.
“Jazz?” he called out.
Footsteps echoed from upstairs, then Jazz was hanging over the railing. “Danny! Welcome back. You were gone quite a while. Get up to trouble with your boyfriend?” she grinned at him.
Danny didn’t know what expression he made at her innocent question, but Jazz’s smile disappeared.
“What’s wrong?”
Danny opened his mouth, then closed it again. Where did he even start? He rubbed at his eyes and focused on just breathing. “Jay, he’s… Something happened, Jazz.”
Suddenly Jazz was in front of him and hugging him tight. “It’s okay, Danny. We’ll figure it out. What happened?”
He clutched at her shirt, just trying to keep from breaking down in tears again. “Jason, he… He’s in a coma, Jazz. Frostbite and his doctors can’t figure out what happened or how to fix him.”
Jazz ran her fingers through his hair. “Oh, Danny. I’m so sorry. I’m sure they’ll figure it out, though. They’re the experts.”
Danny shook his head. “They can’t keep him there. It’s the Far Frozen and Jason has a fire core. It’s not safe for him to be there when he’s so weak, Frostbite said.”
Jazz let out a steady breath and squeezed tighter. “What are you going to do?”
Danny pulled away. “Jason is trapped as just his core. I can’t leave him in the Far Frozen and there’s no one else I trust to be able to keep him safe. I have to keep him here, with me.”
Jazz bit her lip. “Danny…”
Danny held up his hand. “I know what you’re thinking. If mom and dad found a ghost core in my room or my backpack? No. I’m not going to risk Jason like that. So I have to tell them. Once they know, they’ll accept me. And I’ll convince them that Jason is harmless and it’ll be fine. It’ll be just fine.” Danny clutched his hands into fists and crossed his arms to hide the fact that he was shaking. His parents would accept him.
They had to.
Jazz stared at him for a long moment and Danny had no clue as to what she was thinking. But then she sighed and ran a hand through her own hair. “Okay. Okay, we’ll do this your way. It’ll be fine. You’re right. But we’re getting Sam and Tucker here first and we’re putting together a go-bag. We’re not going to need it. But we’ll have it.”
Danny forced a smile. “We’re not going to need it.”
“Now, text your friends. Mom and Dad will be home in an hour or two.”
Danny did as told. As soon as he hit send, his phone started vibrating with two incoming calls. He hesitated just a moment before answering as a three-way call. “Jason’s been hurt,” he said, interrupting their shouted questions. “He’s been forced into his core. Frostbite can’t figure out how to help him and since he’s a fire core, he can’t stay in the Far Frozen. I want to bring him back here and keep him safe with me—”
“But your parents,” finished Sam.
“Yeah.” Danny closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “So I’m gonna tell them. Can you come?”
“Of course, dude!” exclaimed Tucker. “Almost out the door now. I’ll be there in ten.”
“It’ll be twenty for me,” said Sam. Then she hummed. “Maybe thirty. There’s some things I want to get, just in case.”
“Thanks, Sam, Tucker.”
“You should know by now,” said Tucker, “you don’t even have to ask with us.”
“Yeah, dummy, we’ve got your back. Be there soon as I can.”
Danny hung up and gave Jazz another shaky smile. “They’re on their way. Tucker will be here in ten, Sam might take a bit longer because she wants to grab some things.”
Jazz nodded. “Good. I’m going to start putting together your go-bag. Is your backpack in your room?”
Danny nodded and Jazz ran up the stairs. He followed her at a walk, trying to ignore the way his heart was beating hard in his chest or the way his knees felt like they were going to give out with every step. His parents loved him, they did.
It was going to be fine. He’d tell them, they’d hug him, and he’d go get Jason and come home.
When he got to his room, Jazz had dumped all his school books and binders and papers out of his backpack and was raiding the first aid kit under his bed to transfer as much of it as she could into the bag.
“There you are, get two large water bottles and all the breakfast bars from the pantry. And whatever other food you can find that is both high-calorie and easy to pack.”
He turned and walked back downstairs. Nothing felt real, he almost felt numb and he couldn’t muster up the urgency Jazz had as he sifted through the pantry and grabbed the water bottles.
That was how Tucker found him, staring at the pantry with a stack of snacks on the counter next to him.
“You doing okay?” he asked.
Danny just shrugged and pulled out a box of cereal. He tasted some; it was stale. He put it back.
Tucker pulled him into a hug. “Hey, there, Danny. It’s going to be okay. Frostbite will be able to help Jason, and we’ll be by your side as you talk to your parents.”
Danny hugged Tucker back, trying to just keep his breath steady and his hands from shaking. “Jazz is upstairs. We should go.”
“I’ll help you carry everything. And I’ve got some jerky to add to the pile, meat is the most important food group, after all!”
That finally caught his attention and he pulled away with a small smile. “I won’t need it, you know. Jazz is just being paranoid.”
Tucker frowned, but didn’t contradict him. “Then let’s go make her feel better.”
“Okay.”
“Also!” exclaimed Tucker. “I’ve got a new phone for you. This one uses ectoplasm to connect to my devices and from there, can connect to anyone else. It should work even in the Realms.”
That finally broke through some of the numbness surrounding Danny. He cracked a small, but sincere, smile. “You’ll have to explain to me how you managed that.”
Tucker laughed and immediately launched into his explanation as they brought the food back upstairs to join Jazz.
Jazz gave them a tight smile when they walked in. “Hey, Tucker. What did you get, Danny?”
“Like you said, all the protein and breakfast bars. Tuck’s got some jerky he can add to the pile.” And last, Danny dropped the box of cosmic brownies. “And I grabbed these, too. No one else will eat them.”
Jazz stared at the brownies for a long time, and Danny thought she was going to scold him for grabbing something frivolous. But she shook her head and packed them without comment. “Thanks, Tucker,” she said when she grabbed the bag of jerky next.
“Tucker made me a phone,” said Danny. “One that should work, even in the Realms. He was just telling me about it.”
This time, Jazz’s smile was much more genuine. “Really? How’s that work?”
“So, as I was telling Danny, the phone is connected to my computer through ectoplasm. It took a long time to figure out how to do it, but they will always be connected to each other now. Then, through my computer, it can connect to other computers or even the phone network. Gives it access to the internet and cell towers and your service will be as good as mine.”
Jazz shook her head. “You’re amazing, you know that?”
Tucker blushed. “Uh, well. It’s really not a big deal.”
Jazz held up a hand. “No, it is a big deal. Thank you.”
Danny looked around his room, cataloging all his belongings. His skateboard leaned against the wall next to his bed. The model rockets on his bookshelf. Then his eyes landed on his old, beat-up copy of Canterbury Tales. He walked over as Jazz and Tucker continued to talk and took down the book.
He flipped it open and was faced with the comments Jason and he’d written in the margins. Jason, cheering on the Wife of Bath or scoffing at the Knight. Jason, using modern slang to improve the old-fashioned translation. Jason, doodling a little star when Danny finally got something on his own.
He blinked and a tear tracked down his face, then another. He wiped at his cheeks and closed the book. “Jazz,” he said as he sat next to them on the floor, “pack this, too.”
“Danny…” she started as she saw the book. But then she took in his expression and she sighed. “Of course. I managed to get two outfit changes in your bag, four pairs of boxers. A good amount of medical supplies. And all the food you brought up. We’ll get the book in there, too. Anything else you’ll need?”
Downstairs, the front door slammed and all three of them tensed.
“Just me!” shouted Sam, followed by the sound of her combat boots echoing on the stairs.
Jazz let out a relieved laugh and the rest of them relaxed.
“I got what I wanted to give you!” said Sam as she pushed her way into the room, slamming the door shut behind her. She tossed a wallet to Jazz who opened it and gasped.
“Sam, this is too much!”
Sam shrugged. “I’ve been saving it up. My parents won’t even notice, just had to stop by an ATM on the way here.” She flopped onto the ground and wrapped an arm around Danny’s shoulders. “So how are we gonna do this?”

If you're still accepting prompts Jason/ Jazz Hozier's Real People Do
Cate comes out with curly red hair, bright teal eyes, and the tiniest, prettiest core that Jazz has ever seen. Jason was worried about that, she knows. The twins inherited cores from Danny, even if they haven’t shown any signs of ghostly power yet; of course Jason was worried.
Danny’s core is a space core, is the thing, and Misty and Jackson’s are just the same. Misty is burning stars and Jackson is icy vacuum, and they’re both as clear and bright as his full-grown galaxy is. Much smaller, obviously, but still clear and bright and strong. They’re too young for Obsessions, assuming they’re even going to end up with Obsessions at all, but they very definitely have cores. And Jazz is just a little bit liminal herself, but so is Sam, so who knows what effects that might’ve had in-utero.
And Jason, of course . . .
Jason’s core isn’t like Danny’s; isn’t so pure of purpose and Protection. Jason’s core is full of anger and grief and so, so much longing. It's a light core at the heart of itself, but it's been twisted and refracted and cracked. The kind of light core where someone shot out a streetlight and left behind nothing but a fitfully-sparking empty socket and cold iron. Jazz knows it was worse, once–knows Vengeance was twisted through his Obsession, warping and overwhelming it, and the light of his core wasn't even sparking–but that doesn't mean it's in good condition now.
So he was worried, she knows.
But Jason's Obsession is Family–the same thing that saved him and killed him and saved him again–so Jazz wasn't worried like he's been.
“Told you so,” she says, smiling tiredly at him from her Far Frozen infirmary bed. She’s exhausted and stressed and in pain and hasn’t slept in two days, but it was worth it. Jason doesn’t look away from Cate where she’s swaddled and nestled asleep in his arms, which Jazz doesn’t blame him for. She’s never seen anything as beautiful as Cate. Or anything as adorable. Or anything as terrifying.
Her core is a warm little light inside her, though, bright and pretty and sweet, with no twisting or refraction or cracks in it at all.
“You did,” Jason agrees, swallowing roughly, and Jazz smiles wider.

fic rec friday 10
hi!! welcome to fic rec friday. every week, i pick five fics i have bookmarked and rec them with a little review. check them out!
something borrowed by @rosyredlipstick
In the Solace Wedding Planning agenda, on the fifth page into their summer schedule, there are carefully scrawled out notes reading this: Bride and Groom - Hazel Levesque & Frank Zhang Best Man & Maid of Honor - Percy Jackson & Piper McLean Wedding Court - Annabeth Chase & Jason Grace Mellie & Gleeson Hedge Reyna Ramírez-Arellano & Leo Valdez Ring-bearer - Chuck Hedge Flower-boy - Nico di Angelo - Will plans wedding and now, apparently, Nico stars in one. Except...sometimes there's a bit more confusion on that last part. AKA the AU where Will plans weddings and thinks Hazel and Frank are going to have to cutest, gap-toothed ten year throwing flowers down the aisle, all while wondering why this 'Neeks' guy is always hanging around, and what business he has looking that good.
yes i am back on my rosyredlipstick (dude she's GOOD okay). however this one is my favourite i think. this is the kinda story you could use to explain to people what dramatic irony is bc LORD i wanted to SHAKE THEM 😭😭 will falling like deeply in love with nico and being intensely stressed about everything the whole time is so real and on brand. i love him and i love the fond exasperation that just bleeds from this fic its GREAT
2. Rental Love by @rosyredlipstick
*Read Terms & Conditions - Male/22/Long Island N.Y.C. Tired of showing up stag at holiday events? Want your family to stop thinking there’s something wrong with you? Just want some arm candy for a work event? Look no further. Your solution is here! I will attend holiday events with you as your paid date. Accepting all genders as applicants. Email [email protected] if interested. Interview & application will be set up there. - Nico di Angelo has been telling Hazel Levesque about his boyfriend for weeks. The bad part? Nico doesn’t have a boyfriend, the holidays are coming up, and not all of Jason’s ideas are horrible. They’re all a bit surprised about the last one.
THE LEVEL OF STUPID THAT THEY ARE...😭😭 kills me fr. like this whole fic is just a manifestation of truly one of the best tropes of all time…..like what if we took a hallmark movie and made it gay as all hell. iconique indeed
3. A Match in the Making by @coconutcranberries-blog
“You’re a morning person,” Nico muttered, rubbing his eyes with the heel of his palms. He ran a hand through his black hair, which stuck up in disarray, the same way it did every morning. He was a mess, and Will Solace looked annoyingly put together, and Nico didn’t even care, really, he didn’t.
friendship is the core of romance!! it is!! every time!!! and it's such a core in this fic....which is fucking??? ten years old??? im just realising?? jesus christ??? anyways. "Nico had the sudden, warm feeling that Will Solace had never bought his act." i YELLED
4. Perception by scorchedtrees
In which everyone thinks Nico and Will are together.
i love this trope i love it SO BAD. both ways. when your love is so obvious that no one misses it.....love to see it truly. and will can have one second of beingn smooth and not a dweeby loser. as a treat
5. the world is brighter than the sun now that you're here by @finalizer
It was hard, Nico eventually concluded, to maintain one’s air of spooky otherworldly detachment with a blinding ray of sunshine trailing one step behind him every minute of every day.
grouchy nico my beloved truly. honestly hes such a bitch i love him like "Seriously, give the guy a perm and a few cats and he’d be that weird aunt that everybody avoided around the holiday season." why does he ALWAYS have something vile to say 😭😭 hes a mood fr
thank you for joining me this saturday friday!! happy reading!!

Everything is By Design
Day 2 Disney Week: Monster/Damsel in Distress
inspired by Moana :)))))
Dan didn’t know how the hell he was going to find his fucking brother’s core but he had to do something. He watched as Jazz, Sam, Tucker, and Valerie shot blasters and weapons at the monster that was once Danny in a desperate attempt to keep him at bay.
No one knew how it had happened, Clockwork hadn’t even seen it happen but something or someone had stolen Danny’s core and his ghost was reacting horribly to it. Danny was no longer Danny, he had become a monster, a raging eldritch horror who was destroying everything in his wake. Gone was the teenage boy with snow-white hair and glowing green eyes.
In its place was a beast unlike any other. He was a long, serpentine creature with hair bright white but skin a dark black with stars and galaxies covering his body, his face had elongated into some kind of snout with large, sharp fangs that dripped with ectoplasm, his arms had extended and ended in long claws that could rip the core out of any ghost. He was a thing of nightmares and it was taking half of the inhabitants of the ghost zone just to keep him from getting to the human world.
Dan should be there with them, he was just as strong as Danny but Clockwork had sent him on a mission. Had ordered him to Gotham to find the core. From what he could find a man named John Constantine had stolen Danny’s core in an attempt at getting rid of the ghost king, thinking that he was Pariah Dark.
But somehow the core had been stolen from the man and now it was up to Dan to trace the steps to find it. He gave his friends and sister a salute as they fought back the monster that was once Danny and opened a portal to Gotham. Now he just hoped to the ancients he would find the core before Danny made it past the ghosts and their friends and sister and got into the human realms where he would cause real trouble.
Jason Todd stared at the glowing blue orb that Bruce had taken from Constantine and frowned. Something about it was calling to him, begging for Jason to take it and give it back to who it belonged to. The orb sat in a small glass case, something called a ghost shield wrapped around it, keeping anyone from removing it from the container. It sat upon the desk of the batcomputer where Bruce had left it to run tests on it later. He shuddered as he pressed a hand against the shield, feeling a slight shock to his palm as he did but ignored it Everything in him was urging him to take the entire box and run far away.
But Bruce had strictly forbidden that anyone touch the orb. Apparently, Constantine had stolen it from the supposed Ghost King in a bid to keep the human world safe from the monster since he had apparently returned to power. Bruce had taken it from him for fear that Constantine would do something stupid like give it to a demon in return for power.
Which honestly? Jason could see that happening.
“Why are you staring at that thing again?” Tim asked him, shuddering slightly just looking at the strange orb. “Doesn’t it give you the heebie jeebies? It just feels wrong.”
“It’s not supposed to be here,” Jason murmured, unable to fully tear his eyes away from the orb. “Constantine should have never taken it from the ghost king. It wasn’t his to take.”
“Yeah but this Pariah Dark guy sounds scary as fuck, I’m glad we don’t have to worry about a ghost like that,” Tim said stepping forward to look at the orb. “Alfie told me to come get you, it’s time for Dinner and then we gotta head out on patrols.”
Jason nodded wordlessly, unwilling to look away from the orb until his brother started to tug on his arm, pulling him away from the containment box that Bruce was keeping it in.
“What is your deal with it?” Tim asked, giving his big brother a worried look. Jason shook his head, the distance between him and the orb large enough to help him think clearly again.
“I don’t know but something about it is calling me, it’s wanting me to take it, to get it and run away,” he admitted, glancing back just as the elevator doors shut. Tim frowned and gave his brother a once over.
“That’s weird, why?” He asked.
Jason just shrugged his shoulders and said nothing else about the orb, something in him still tugging at him to go back to it.
That next week Jason continued to feel a tug to go back to the orb, to take it with him and run as far away as he could. He didn’t know where he would go with it or even what he would do with it but something was telling him that he needed to run away and return it to the Ghost King.
He sped through the streets of Crime Alley, trying to do his best to not think about the orb. At the moment he was mentally reciting the first Twilight book just to keep his mind off of the orb, it wasn’t working super well but it was enough. He slammed on the brakes of his motorcycle, though, when a sharp tug yanked at his being. It felt like the orb but more dangerous, not only that but it was in his territory. He felt the hair on his arms raise slightly as the feeling grew stronger and stronger until a being appeared in front of him.
He was unlike anything Jason had ever seen in his life. The being was a fucking tank as he walked slowly towards Jason, his white hair like flames dancing at the top of his head, his skin a light blue color. He wore a strange black and white jumpsuit with a black cape flowing from his back. His red eyes were glaring holes into Jason’s very being and when he opened his mouth to speak, sharp fangs revealed himself.
“You,” he snarled out, a blue, clawed hand grabbing Jason’s shirt roughly and tugging him close. “Where is it?”
Jason shoved at the being but his grip was tight and he barely moved an inch at the shove. “What the fuck are you talking about?”
“The core,” he growled out. “You reek of it, where the hell is it?”
Jason pulled a gun from his holster and pressed it to the being’s chest. “If you don’t let me the fuck go right now, I’ll put a bullet in your chest.”
The man, monster, being? Jason didn’t know - laughed and pulled him closer. “Do it,” he whispered, his eyes narrowed and without another word, Jason pulled the trigger. The thing snorted and spat the bullet out onto the ground, the metal hitting the asphalt with a soft clink.  “Where is it?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Jason growled out.
“It’s an orb, light blue and cold as ice. I bet when you looked at it, it was begging you to take it and run away, wasn’t it?” He asked, pushing Jason away from him and crossing his giant arms over his chest. “Take me to it.”
“Are you talking about the orb that Constantine stole from Pariah Dark? That shit’s dangerous I can’t take it,” Jason said with a scoff. “And I’m not giving it to you just for you to return it to that tyrannical bastard. Constantine told us what he was like and it’s a good thing he doesn’t have that power.”
The being sneered at him. “Pariah Dark isn’t the king of the Infinite Realms anymore. The throne belongs to King Phantom now, or it will when he takes the throne. He’s a fucking kid and your dumbass friend? He basically just stole his heart,”
At that Jason stilled. It was a kid? The king was a fucking child? “How old is he?”
The being raised an eyebrow at that. “He’s sixteen, right now he’s just the crown prince. He doesn’t get to take the throne until his eighteenth birthday, until then I’m ruling in his steed. Now take me to his core before I force you to.”
Jason stared at the being, weighing his options as best as he could. If this guy was right, that kid was missing his heart and Constantine had told them that the ghost king wouldn’t survive longer than a month without the orb being inside of him. That it would be a slow and painful death, fitting for a monster like Pariah Dark. But if it really was just a sixteen-year-old kid, not only that a sixteen-year-old ghost who was missing what was basically his heart. Well, that changed things. That changed a lot of things and between that and the fact that everything in Jason’s being had been screaming at him for the last week to take that orb and run, well it only made sense to go along with what this guy was saying.
He wasn’t about to be the reason a fucking sixteen-year-old ghost faded from existence.
“If he’s a ghost how does he age?” Jason suddenly asked.
“Confidential. Now, can we go?” He asked, waving his hand in a hurry-up motion.
Jason sighed and looked at the being. “Who are you?”
The being gave him a tired, exasperated look and pinched at the bridge of his nose before he looked at Jason once again. “Dan, Dan Phantom, Lord of the Infinite Realms. Brother of the Crown Prince. Now take me to my brother’s core before I rip yours out of your chest and show you how it feels.”
Jason automatically pressed a hand to his chest before he slowly nodded and started up his bike. “Follow me but keep your mouth shut. The name’s Jason,” he muttered before he sped off down the street and to Wayne Manor.
He sped down the streets as fast as he could, Dan keeping pace with him as he flew through the air at breakneck speeds. Jason watched as the being kept shooting him distrustful glances now and again as they made their way to the manor. Jason pressed the button on his bike that opened the entrance to the Batcave and the two made their way inside.
The crime lord watched as Dan looked around the cave for a moment and flew straight to the containment box and grabbed at it, only for a loud crack to sound through the air and he was thrown into a wall.
Dan let out a loud curse as Jason parked his bike and walked over. “Who put a goddamn ghost shield around it?”
“Batman,” a new voice said, turning around in the chair and Jason couldn’t help but groan as he met his younger brother’s glare. “What are you doing Red Hood? And who did you bring into the Batcave?”
Dan snorted at that. “You call it the Batcave?” he asked, glancing at Jason, amusement clear on his face.
“Shut the fuck up,” Jason muttered before he looked at Tim. “We’re taking that orb, Replacement. Constantine was wrong when he took it, he never should have stolen it from the guy he took it from.”
Tim frowned and watched as Dan pulled something from inside his chest and aimed it at the containment box. “What are you talking about? Pariah Dark is dangerous, Constantine told us he could destroy existence as we know it.”
“Pariah Dark doesn’t exist anymore,” Dan said, aiming a small futuristic gun at the containment box and shot it, only for the ghost shield to react and throw him back into the wall once again. “Danny ate his core two years ago. If that sad trenchcoat fuck actually paid attention to the news of the Infinite Realms and kept up, he would have known that sooner. But he’s a dumbass who doesn’t get his information from the source. Now someone take down the ancient’s damned ghost shield.”
“Are you a ghost?” Tim asked, looking over Dan’s form.
Dan tore his eyes from the core and glared at Tim. “What the fuck does it matter to you?”
“Well, if you weren’t, you’d be able to just open the box,” Tim said with a shrug as he produced a small remote. “But if you are a ghost, how do we not know you’re not just working for Pariah Dark?”
The ghost let out an inhuman snarl as he marched toward Tim. He grabbed him by the collar of his suit and yanked him in the air as he wrenched the remote from him. “I don’t give a fuck if you trust me, you are an insignificant welp who doesn’t understand that larger things are at stake right now. You want to know what we need to get this back to Phantom?”
Tim gulped and glanced past Dan to look at Jason who was frozen in place.
“If I don’t get my brother’s core back to him, he fades from existence but before he does, he will destroy everything in his wake trying to get to his core before that happens. Half of the Infinite Realms is fighting to keep him at bay as we speak. And before long he will overpower all of them. And if you think that Pariah Dark is terrifying? Imagine a starving ghost who is desperate to get his core back. He’s going to destroy everything in his path just trying to get his core back. Lives will be lost, homes will be destroyed, and civilization will never be the same. I know this dimension, I destroyed this dimension once upon a time. And if the Justice League died trying to fight me, they’ll be destroyed before they can even try to fight my brother. Now get the fuck out of my way.”
With that, Dan unceremoniously dropped Tim to the floor and pressed the button on the remote to turn off the ghost shield. Jason dashed over and grabbed the core before the ghost could and shoved it into his pocket.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Dan demanded, storming towards Jason who just glared at him.
“I’m going with you to return the core. If you’re telling the truth, I’ll give your brother back his core. But if you’re lying and it’s being taken back to Pariah Dark, I’ll destroy it. Now, let’s go give your brother his core back. Yeah?”
Dan gave him a simmering glare and ripped a portal open in the middle of the cave. “You’re a fucking pain in the ass.”
“Thanks, if you want you can be a pain in my ass later. Now let’s go,” Jason said motioning towards the portal. Dan simply glared at him and grabbed the collar of Jason’s jacket and dragged him through the portal.
And Jason definitely didn’t swoon, not at all.
Jason followed Dan through the realms and stopped short at the sight in front of him. “I know this place,” he said, his brow furrowed as the portal closed behind him. All around him were green skies and purple-looking islands that floated in the air. He looked around at the island they stood on and frowned. “Why do I know this place?”
“You stink of death,” Dan said with a grunt as he started walking. “Likely you died at some point and became a ghost but when you came back to life you forgot all of your time in the Infinite Realms.”
Jason frowned. “Is that why the core was calling to me?” He asked, looking around at the looming trees around them, the destroyed land that surrounded the two of them. “What happened here?”
Dan sighed. “Well, this was the spot that I left everyone to go find the core,” he said, looking around. “It looks like everyone is gone now which isn’t a good sign. The reason the core was calling to you was because of what you are.”
The crime lord gave him a puzzled look, his brow furrowing slightly.
At that Dan let out an even more dramatic sigh that bordered on a yell. “Don’t tell me you don’t know what the fuck you are,” he said, throwing his head back to glare at the green sky above him. Jason said nothing, crossing his arms over his chest as he glared at the ghost. Dan looked back at him and blew a strand of his fiery hair out of his face. “You are a revenant, someone who died a horrible death and came back to life for revenge. There’s ectoplasm running through your body, you know green gooey shit? And because you’re a revenant you’re still considered a citizen of the Infinite Realms. You have an automatic desire to please your king. How long were you dead before you came back to the world of the living?”
“Six months give or take,” Jason grumbled, following as Dan continued down a destroyed path. “Where are we going if they aren’t here?”
“We’re going to follow the pull of the core,” Dan said with a shrug. “If you hold it, it’ll try to direct you back to my brother. It wants to go back to him just as badly as Danny wants to have it back.”
Jason gave the ghost a distrustful look. “How do I know you’re not going to try to take the core from me as soon as I take it out of my pocket?” He asked, his eyes narrowed into slits, not that Dan could see beneath the safety of his helmet.
“I won’t, scouts honor,” Dan grumbled. Jason just stared at him for a moment before he pulled the core out and held the orb in his hand. It suddenly grew brighter and Jason felt it start to tug at him to continue straight.  “Now let’s go,” he ordered and the two started walking.
Jason stayed silent, rolling all of the information he had just learned around in his head as he looked around the piece of land they were standing on. To the right side he could see the tips of a large castle looming over the trees, parts of it were broken and destroyed. “So, if you’re his older brother, why aren’t you the king instead?”
Dan glanced over at him. “It’s complicated.”
Jason looked up at the man. “I died, stayed dead for six months, and then woke up in a giant pit of shit that you call ectoplasm. I doubt it’s that complicated.”
The ghost let out a huff of amusement. “I’m not his brother,” he admitted before he looked straight ahead. “I’m him.”
“How can that be true?”
“There was a future with a bad incident, that incident resulted in me happening instead. It made me angry, I wanted to destroy everything and everyone.  And I did, in my timeline I destroyed everything in my path, the Justice League tried to stop me at some point but they were nothing, they were a pebble in my way. Shit happened, I decided the best course of action would be to go back to make sure that I became Danny’s future but all it did was give him a chance to stop me and divert that timeline from happening–”
“I don’t want to hear anymore,” Jason groaned. “Timeline shit makes me sick to my stomach. So you’re an alternate version of him. Let me guess, since you’re a war criminal you don’t have a right to the throne?”
Dan pointed a pair of finger guns at him. “Bingo,” he said with a sharp grin. Jason just made a face and nodded before he looked out at the area in front of him and frowned.
“It wants us to keep going straight but this is the end of the island,” he said with a frown.
“Then we keep going straight,” Dan said with a sigh and scooped Jason up in his arms unceremoniously, holding the man bridal style.
Jason spluttered in response, pushing at Dan’s chest. “What the fuck? Let me go!”
“Sorry but you can’t fly,” Dan said with a smirk before he took off in the air. Jason gritted his teeth as the ghost started to fly. He said nothing except for when to tell Dan to make a left or a right or continue straight as he flew them through the air. That and he tried to not think about the way he could feel the bulging muscles in Dan’s arms pressed against his body. Nor the fact that for a ghost, Dan smelled amazing. The scent wafted through his helmet and flooded his nose, old leather, tobacco, and a pine scent that reminded Jason of nights out in the woods camping with his brothers.
It was nice.
“So,” Jason said after a while, trying to tear his concentration from focusing on Dan and his stupid fucking body. How the hell did a ghost smell that fucking good in the first place? Wasn’t he supposed to be dead? “If Phantom is a ghost and he’s only sixteen, how is he going to age to become old enough to take the throne?”
“Phantom isn’t fully dead,” Dan told him, glancing down, a small frown on his face. “He’s what we call a halfa. Half ghost, half living. He can still age, he–we really had our accident when we were fourteen. The reason I’m not still a halfa is that I had my human half ripped out of me and became a full ghost. Danny never had that timeline so it’s different for him.”
“I was fifteen when I died,” Jason said and Dan let out a groan. “What?”
“I don’t want to hear your tragic backstory, Jason,”  he said and looked down at the core. “Has it made any tugs or indicated where we need to go?”
Jason frowned and shook his head. “Keep going straight,” he muttered and looked up at the ghost. “You’re an asshole, you know that? And that’s saying something because I’m a fucking asshole, but I think you’re even worse than I am.”
“Oh shut the fuck up,” Dan muttered. “And quit sniffing me, I can hear you under that fucking helmet you freak.”
Jason balked at that. “I’m not sniffing you. I just simply noticed that you smell good,” he muttered, turning to look away from Dan and his stupid pecs that were pressed against his arm.
“Whatever you say,” he said with a smug smile on his face.
“Stop it, quit smiling at me like that,” Jason said, crossing his arms over his chest, the core now tucked between him and Dan who shivered at the cold that exuded from the core.
“I can’t help it,” Dan said, still smiling at Jason with that stupid, smug look. “You’re adorable, you think you’re all mean and scary and you’re just this little human. It’s cute. You’re like a teddy bear.”
Jason let out a shout and shoved at Dan’s chest. “Shut up! I am not a fucking teddy bear! Do you know who the fuck I am in my world? I’m the Red Hood, I’m a fucking Crime Lord. I’ve murdered people and taken down giant crime operations! I’m not cute.”
“You’re cute, it’s not a bad thing Jason. Some people just have that cuteness factor, it’s okay,” Dan said with that stupid smug smile that Jason wanted to punch off his ugly little face. He hated him. He couldn’t wait for this asshole to stop flying so he would never have to be in his arms again. What a smug little prick. Soon the core started to vibrate wildly in his hands and he tapped at Dan’s chest.
“It’s doing something, we’re close,” he said just as a loud roar sounded through the area. Jason shuddered at the sound, everything in him aching now to go to the being that made that noise, to do whatever he could to calm it, to make it happier.
“Yeah, we are,” Dan said with a sigh and took off flying even faster than before, clutching onto Jason tight as he sped through the Infinite Realms, and the scene before them chilled Jason to his bones.
“That’s your brother,” he whispered, staring up at the giant monster that ripped an entire island in half.
“Yup. Now give me the core, he needs it,” Dan said, setting Jason down on the island where other ghosts stood at the ready, weapons aimed at the monster destroying everything in its path as it fought against the nets and shields and beams shot at it.
“Dan!” A woman shouted and the two men looked over to find a redhead running towards them. She barreled into Dan’s chest and let out a sob. “Please tell me you found it. It’s getting worse, he’s getting angrier.  I don’t know how long we can contain him.”
Dan smiled and brushed a strand of hair out of the redhead’s face. “I found it Jazz, we’re going to him now,” he said softly and glanced at Jason who wordlessly handed him the core. Dan gave him a single nod and flew up to return the core to his baby brother.
Jazz, on the other hand, turned and gave Jason a curious look. “And who are you?”
Jason sighed. “The idiot who found his core,” he said, watching as Dan flew close to the being and pressed the core into its chest. Jason watched as he slowly turned from a monster to that of a small, teenage boy. Dan caught the boy just as he started to plummet to the ground and held him close.
Dan flew back down to Jason and Jazz and smiled. “He’s going to be okay. He’s out cold but he’ll be fine when he wakes up,” he said softly, looking down at the sleeping teenager. He then raised his head and looked up at Jason and smiled. “Thank you.”
Jason nodded once, staring down at the sleeping teenager and then back up at Jason. “It’s fine, I didn’t do shit.”
Dan just smiled. “Give me a few minutes and I’ll take you home,” he said and looked around before spotting a giant yeti coming their way. “Perfect, he’ll be able to get Danny comfortable until he wakes up.”
Jazz just looked between the two and then looked Jason up and down. “Aren’t you that crime lord from Gotham?” she asked, screwing up her nose slightly.
“Yeah,” Jason said, rubbing at the back of his neck nervously. “That’s me.”
“I can’t believe Dan and I have the same type,” she grumbled before stomping away just as Dan returned.
“Alright, let me get you home,” he said, ripping open a portal. Jason looked at it before he looked back at Dan and carefully took off his helmet.
“Can I see you again?” Jason asked, furrowing his brow and pulling his bottom lip behind his lip as he waited nervously for a response.
Dan let out a soft curse and cupped Jason’s face. “I fuckin’ knew you were cute,” he said with a small smile. “But yeah, you can see me again. I’ll stop by soon,” he murmured before pressing a soft kiss to Jason’s cheek. “Now go before I have all of the Justice League trying to hunt me down to find you.”
Jason blushed hot for just a moment before he nodded and slipped through the portal. Hopefully, he’d see Dan again, and hopefully, it would be sometime soon.

When You Accidentally Kill a Clown pt. 6
Hey guys, I know part 5 was only yesterday but I was bored and crave validation so here's part 6! Enjoy
Pt 1. Pt. 5
A shiver went down Danny’s spine at the same moment a gasp of cold air caught in their throat for probably the twelfth time that day. Sighing, they went back to scanning the library shelf for whatever book they needed (A biography of some old dead writer or something). And honestly, if Hood just asked them whatever he wanted to know, they would happily tell him, if only to stop almost choking every twenty minutes.
But evidently, Hood was a coward, as he did not come talk to Danny.
So Danny continued scanning the shelves for the book, ‘at this point it would probably be faster to just track down and talk to the actual dead guy’ they thought moments before finally spotting the crisp unbroken spine, ‘well that’s promising’ Danny reached to take the book form the shelf at the same time another hand reached for the same thing.
Danny flinched back as the other person’s hand landed on theirs, and glanced over to find an absolute tank of a person. Towering a little less than a foot over them, the man had short cropped black hair, dazzling blue-green eyes and a jaw so sharp it could cut steel. There was no doubt in their mind that this was an absolutely gorgeous human which is probably what fueled the heat rising in their cheeks.
Their gaze snapped away from the man and back to the shelf where their hands were still intertwined over the book. Quickly they drew away, shoving their hands in their pockets and hunching their shoulders.
“Oh, s-sorry did you need that?” they stammered whilst mentally groaning at their own embarrassing behavior.
A flash of something passed behind the guy’s eyes before a small smile tugged at his lips, “Oh, no this was just going to be some light reading,” He said, referring to the inch and a half thick book about some random dead author, that was now in his hands, “here, you can have it,” he held it out to Danny who just looked at it and rocked back on their heels, trying to seem nonchalant.
“No, no it’s alright I'll just find anot-” it was at this moment that Danny lost their balance and fell backwards. ‘How? Why?’ they thought shutting their eyes as they prepared to hit the floor, ‘worst possible time what the fuck.’However the impact never came.
Confused, and silently praying they didn’t accidentally tap into their ghostly floating, Danny opened their eyes. Only to find the man, with the book now on the floor, and both arms wrapped around their waist, a silent look of worry in his eyes. If Danny wasn’t already blushing they certainly were now.
“Umm, hi. I’m Danny,” They said, staring into the man’s electric eyes. They managed to squirm one arm from where it was pinned to their side (Ancients, this guy had muscles), and held out their hand for the other guy to shake.
The guy chuckled before shifting to take Danny’s hand. “Jason,” he smirked, “Nice to meet you.”
They didn’t move for what was probably too much time, instead they just looked at each other, each scanning the other’s face. Through the pounding in their ears Danny could barely make out the muffled thrum of a half-formed ghost core. ‘Seriously? How many half formed ghosts does Gotham have running around her streets?’ It wasn’t until Danny broke eye contact that Jason finally set them down and retrieved the book.
This time Danny took it when offered, mumbling a quiet thank you as the redness in their cheeks died down to more of a pinkish color. Ancients, they were glad they only blushed green as Phantom. The silence dragged on.
“So how about that weather?” Jason asked.
Danny tried to focus on anything other than how close they were still standing, or the muffled hum they could still hear emanating from Jason’s chest. Maybe the ghost sense from earlier had been from this guy and not Red Hood. So instead they peered over to the large window across the room.
“It’s- weather-y,” they winced, ‘what does that even mean.’ But somehow that managed to get a laugh out of the man so maybe that was a win?
He opened his mouth to say something but was cut off.
“Jason!” a redheaded woman wheeled down the aisle, making a beeline for Jason who was suddenly looking rather skittish. “B’s on the phone, he wants to talk to you.” she said, holding out said phone.
“How’d he know I’m here?” he asked, eyes narrowing.
The red head let out a huff and glared at him with a look that could only read as ‘seriously?’ “Look I tried holding him off as long as I could but he’s really insistent,” her eyes flickered over to Danny for a second, “Who’s this?” She asked.
Jason pulled his gaze away from the phone, still in the woman's hand, to look between the two of them. “Oh, Babs, this is Danny,” he said proudly. ‘Why proudly?’ Nonetheless, Danny reached out their hand to take Babs’. Her brows scrunched together for a moment before falling into something like realization. She looked at Jason, seemingly asking a question. Their silent conversation lasted a minute before she seemed to get the answer she was looking for.
“Do you need to check that out?” Babs asked, gesturing at their book.
“Huh? Oh yeah,” Babs nodded once before shoving her phone into Jason’s hand and turning around, waving a gesture like ‘follow me.’
Danny started after her but stopped when Jason grabbed their arm. Amidst Danny’s confused sputtering, he produced a black marker and wrote something on their arm.
“Call me,” he said with a wink, before turning to leave, pulling the phone to his ear and apparently getting an earful from the person on the other end.
Danny stared, frozen, after him. ‘Damn, that’s an ass,’ they thought, blush rising in their cheeks once more.
“Danny you coming?” Babs shouted
“Yeah, be right there,” They called back. They took one moment to look down at their arm, and sure enough, in bold, black, surprisingly neat handwriting, was Jason’s number. Danny felt butterflies float about in their stomach as they drifted to the front desk.
+++++++
Om my goodness!!! It's Jason! Woooo!

Chapter 26 of 'Artificial Wingman!'

Enjoy!
---
Danny hissed as the wire he was soldering zapped him. His fingers healed almost immediately, just the lightest pink any indication that he had been hurt, but the electricity flowed up his arm, making his litchenberg ache. He rubbed his arm before tuning it out, turning back to the gun with an annoyed grumble.
Seconds later the same thing happened again, making the halfa hiss again. His core stuttered at the feeling, making an uneasy warbling sound as the current spread slightly further up his arm. The teen brought his fingers to his mouth, blowing cool air on the tingling appendages. Once they were sufficiently numb, he went back to work.
The wire he was soldering buzzed threateningly as he melded it to it's proper circuit. Finally, the darned thing stopped, it's excess electricity funneling into the board. New wires lit up, popping small sparks as energy flowed through. One such wire right under Danny's wrist, hitting directly on the edge of his death scar.
The teen couldn't stop himself from jerking away with a loud yelp, practically falling out of his seat as he cursed under his breath. "Fuck!" He muttered, rubbing his wrist. His arm tensed and twitched as he tried to massage the pain from it, fingers spasming as his scar buzzed. It took a few minutes for the feeling to pass, and a few longer to flex the soreness out of his fingers. When he could comfortably make a fist again, he turned and leveled a glare at the damned scientific abomination.
His glare faltered after a second, his shoulders drooping in exhausted defeat. "Why couldn't Mom and Dad have been, like, dentists or something?" He questioned quietly. Danny would rather have lectures on proper dental hygiene than have to deal with this. Sighing, he sat back down and pulled the gun towards him again. 'Better just to get it fixed.'
From across the room, Robin stood up from where he had been leaning against the wall. The teen stalk across the space separating them, coming to a stop just in front of Danny. The halfa took his eyes off of his work to look up at him, being careful to rest his hands decidedly away from the live wires. ". . .You good?" Danny asked after a minute of nothing but Robin's intense, searching stare.
Robin stayed silent, giving Danny no warning as he carefully pushed the gun away. Before Danny could ask what he was doing, the teen grabbed his wrist and pulled him up, all but dragging him from the room. It was Danny's turn to be quiet, though his silence was more because of shock and less because of... whatever was up with Robin.
Danny decides that it's too much trouble to try and form a coherent question. Instead, he just lets Robin lead him down the hall, turning and coming to a stop at a closed door. Robin knocks, then takes a step back and waits. Jason opens the door moments later, leaning against the frame as his eyes rake over the two of them.
"What's up, brat?" He asks, his gaze meeting Danny's over Robin's shoulder, conveying a silent question of 'What's this about?'. In response, the teen shrugs, sending back an 'I have no clue,' look. Jason rolls his eyes slightly before focusing his attention back on Robin. "Did you need something?"
"Danny needs to take a break." Robin states bluntly. Danny lets out a protesting "Hey!", but is ignored by the brothers in front of him. "I merely intended to let you know that we are going out. So that you do not worry needlessly about us being gone." With his piece said, Robin began to turn away.
"Hold it, Hell spawn." Jason stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. "You just gonna run around in your suit?" When Robin didn't immediately respond, the man shook his head. "Come on, demon brat. I'll give you a change of clothes. It's a miracle that the bat brigade hasn't already tracked us down yet." He dipped back into the room, leaving the door open as he searched around for something for Robin to wear. "Speakin' of which, did you turn off all the trackers in your suit or something?"
"No, I haven't touched any of the trackers." Robin told him through the door. He tugged Danny closer, his thumb feathering over the pulse point of his wrist. Danny let out a sigh at the action, the rhythmic motions chasing the last bit of pain away. "In fact, I had a rather odd experience with my comms earlier this week. They were filled with static when I attempted to use them to contact Oracle. When I was unable to get through to her, I had to retrieve one of the spares from the safe-house." Jason hummed as he returned, clothes in hand.
"You think the same might have happened to your tracker?" He asked as he handed the clothes over. Robin had to drop Danny's hand to take them, and Danny tried not to pay attention to the sad whirring noise his core made in response.
Instead, he turned his attention back to the conversation. "Oh, that? It was probably me." He admitted a bit sheepishly. They both stopped and turned to look at him. When they didn't say anything, he began to ramble. "So, uh. It's kinda a ghost thing? Ecto beings and extremely contaminated liminals tend to radiate ecotplasm, which messes with electronics and, well, technology in general. So, it might be my fault that some things aren't working right?" He let out a nervous laugh, his hand coming up to massage the back of his neck.
Robin was the first to break the silence. "That does make sense." He admitted. "It would explain why we had such a difficult time tracking the Joker's location when you were taken, and why your sister had such an easy time of it finding you when she gave it a try." Behind him, Jason gave a nod, accepting the explanation given, before letting out a laugh.
"Ah, no one in this family ever dates a normal person, do they?" He snorts again before stepping out into the hall and letting Robin into the room.
"Hey!" Danny groaned in fake indignation. "You already knew that I was Spook-tacularly abnormal before this!" Both brothers froze for a minute before groaning themselves at his amazing (horrible) pun.
Reaching out, Jason plants a heavy hand on Danny's head to violently ruffle his already messy hair, electing a yelp from the teen. He laughed as Danny swatted his hand away, pushing the teen slightly so that he stumbled back a step. "We need to keep you and Dick-face as far apart as possible. If you two meet, we're all doomed."
Danny opened his mouth to retort, planning on saying something about this Dick guy having great taste in wit, but was cut off as Robin swung the door open again and stepped out. Turning, he gave the teen's new outfit a look. An old band tee that was slightly too big, a pair of worn jeans that bunched slightly around his calves, a pair of sneakers, and the sunglasses that Danny had gotten for him. All in all, it fits perfectly with the 'average teenager' theme that they're going for.
"Where did you get the sunglasses?" Jason asked, looking the teen over as well. Robin didn't respond to him, instead grabbing Danny's wrist again and leading him to the stairwell. "Be safe you two!" He called after them, "I'm serious! If you get into any trouble, bat related or otherwise, give me a damn call!" Danny glanced back at Jason as he was pulled along, waving at the man as he rounded the corner. The teen couldn't help but smirk at the exasperated look on the man's face as they disappeared from view.
Danny didn't speak as Robin led him down the stairs and through the parking garage. He was content to follow the teen as they continued on, coming out of a maintenance tunnel and stepping into the street. Weak sunlight broke through the ever-present smog, warming the two of them as they walked. It was only when they were about half a mile into this walk that Danny finally broke the silence.
"So, where are we headed?" He asked. Robin stopped abruptly at his question, causing him to bump into the teen's back. "Oof- Robin? Hey, what's-" Danny looked around for what could have made the teen freeze, until something gave him a pause. He looked back at the teen, who was now staring pensively at the ground. A bashful yet thoughtful look on his face. "Oh, I know that look." Of course he knew that look. It was the one Jazz, Sam, Tucker and Dani always described when he did something impulsively. "You didn't plan that far ahead, did you?"
When Robin didn't respond right away, Danny couldn't help but to chuckle. "Glad I'm not the only one who makes split-second decisions." He jokes, smiling at the teen. His smile slowly falls when all Robin does is flinch and frown. "Hey," Danny starts, his playful tone dropping into something more gentle. "It's fine, Robin. I wouldn't mind just wandering around for a few hours." He felt a blush threaten his face as he let a small, mischievous smile tug at his lips. "Especially when I'm wandering around with such amazing company as you."
The cheesy line did the trick, just as Danny was hoping it would. Robin's frown evened out, his expression going back to that look of resting apathy that it usually was, but Danny had spent the past week with him. He could see the slight blush, the way the corners of his lips twitched ever so slightly. He didn't say anything, but Danny could tell that he was pleased, at the very least.
They started walking again, though at a more sedate pace than before. They passed stores, apartments, small vendors, not stopping once but enjoying the calm atmosphere of the city during mid-day. The pair kept away from any alleyway's, though. Just because the city seemed peaceful out in the open, that didn't mean that there weren't crooks and robbers hiding out in the shadow-y, secluded places.
Sometime during their stroll, Robin had loosened his grip on Danny's wrist, his hand trailing down the halfa's arm until their palms were touching. This time, Danny didn't ignore the way his core buzzed and purred at the contact, instead basking in the warm feeling it sent resonating through his chest when their fingers intertwined.
Eventually the two had to come to a stop, their stomachs demanding they find somewhere to eat. The solution to that problem was relatively easy, as they only had to backtrack a little bit to find someplace decent. A Bat Burger seemed to be calling them from across the street, the smell of fast food wafting from the door as it swung closed behind a couple.
Ordering and settling at a booth was a relatively simple affair, and soon they were sitting across from each other once again. Neither of them spoke, neither of them really needed to. Both of them were just relaxed, reveling in each other's presences. They hadn't really left each other's sides since the love potion took effect, excluding certain pesky clowns of course, but something about this time was different than all the time they had spent together before. 'It might be that I'm finally not ignoring everything I feel now,' Danny thought, a smile crossing his face again as he stared at Robing from the corner of his eye.
"Thank you." He said it quietly, but Robin heard him nonetheless.
"For what?" Robin asked, his head tilting to the side.
'Cute,' Danny couldn't help the thought. "For pulling me out of my own head. I can kinda take after my parents when it comes to projects. Especially important ones. My friends and Jazz usually have a hard time convincing me to take a break, so it's kinda nice to have someone not afraid to yank me out by my foot." He chuckles, his hand raising to rub his neck again.
Robin catches it before it makes contact. Bringing it across the table, he places a gentle kiss on the knuckles before setting their interlaced hands down on the tabletop. Danny fights his blush as Robin smirks at him. "You'll find that I am more than capable of interrupting, should it be necessary for you to take a break." Quieter, he mumbled "I's not like I haven't had plenty of practice with Drake and his horrible habits."
Danny perked up, his blush fading as he focused on something else. "Who's Drake?" He asked.
Robin froze for only a second before responding. "Drake is one of my adopted brothers." He admits. "He has the same habit of delving deep into a topic and completely forgetting about the world around him. It takes the whole family to keep him from dying of his own ignorance to his body's demands." The irritation in his tone is tempered by a small amount of fondness, and Danny can't help but to smile knowingly at him.
"Is he really that bad?"
"Yes. Out of all of my siblings, the most self-care rules have been put in place because of Drake. Not that they're followed half the time, but the evidence does speak for itself." He huffed, letting his chin lower to rest on his arm. "If not for our family, Drake would have long since worked himself into the grave."
Danny smirked, sitting up straighter. "You just made a pun!" He accused, his smirk widening into a smile at the look that crossed the other teen's face.
"I did no such thing." He denied, sitting up as well.
"You so did!" Danny giggled, rubbing his thumb across Robin's knuckle. "Don't worry, I won't tell." He winked at Robin, before looking away. "But, back to your brother. That sounds tough."
Robin sighed, but let it go. "Yes, forcing Drake to take proper care of himself can be a very demanding job at times. But, sadly, he's family. And as such, it is my 'moral' obligation to make sure he doesn't perish."
"Yikes. That sounds like a soul-sucking job." Danny tried to tease.
It fell flat when Robin looked him dead in the eye and nodded. "That statement is more true that any of my family would care to admit." Danny choked, his mind wildly trying to think of how to backtrack. Then Robin cracked a small smile, a light and airy laugh leaving him, and Danny knew he had been played.
"Your evil," He grumbles half-heartedly at the vigilante, fighting back a small smirk of his own.
"Trust me," Robin's smile turned slightly devious. "I can be a Lot worse."
Their order was called before Danny could even try to snark back, 'Flirt back? Was Robin flirting with him?', and Robin disentangled his hand from Danny's quickly, hurrying off to get their food before Danny could protest. Leaving said teen to deal with the blush that now encompassed his entire face.
By the time the teen made it back with their food, Danny had managed to wrestle his blush from a full cherry red to a warm pink. Thankfully, Robin didn't mention it, instead just pushing Danny's meal towards him and digging into his own. Danny followed in suite, pulling the wrapper from his burger taking a bite.
They two teens ate in silence, content with the cozy, comfortable atmosphere that surrounded them. But they were only half-way through their meal when the quiet was broken, but not by either of them. A hand slammed down on the table between them, startling both teens. Pausing mid-bite, Danny turned and looked at the hand, before following it up to it's owner's face. Unsurprisingly, it was someone Danny didn't recognize. But a quick glance at Robin made Danny certain that he knew who this was.
"What are you doing here?" The teen growled. 'Yep,' Danny looked between the two, growing wary at how tense Robin had become as he glared at the... Man? He looked a bit young, but he wasn't exactly a teenager, either. Danny was gonna go with guy, then. 'He definitely knows him.'
"What am I doing here? What are you doing here? Why haven't you come home in the past week, or checked in with us at all? Do you know how stressed everyone has been, searching for you?" The guy crossed his arms, glaring down at Robin with that 'Your doing something stupid and annoying' look. Honestly, it was kinda eerie to see that look on someone besides a teacher. "You need to come home, and at least explain what the hell is going on with you."
Robin didn't respond, which seemed to annoy the guy. He groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance. "Seriously?" He asked, one hand falling to rest on his hip. "You're just going to ignore me?" Danny glanced at Robin from the corner of his eye and, sure enough, the teen was staring resolutely at the table as he munched on a fry. By all accounts, it seemed like the teen was ignoring the dude.
Danny knew it was an act when Robin caught his eye, tilting his head ever so slightly down. Danny followed, looking down at his hand. The vigilante lifted three fingers briefly, before letting his hand rest on the table, all his fingers flattening out except for one, which he scrunched up almost like he was pointing. But why was he pointing at the table? Was he pointing at the table? Or maybe...
A small tap, so quiet that for a moment Danny thought that he had imagined it. A few seconds later, another tap. It was only when he heard the third tap that he put it all together. Thinking fast, Danny ducked under the table just as Robin surged up from his seat, is fist making contact with the guy's solar plexus with a meaty thump. Danny couldn't help but wince in sympathy as the dude dropped to the floor with a wheezy gasp, but he didn't bother to check on the guy either. Instead, he slid out from under the table, snagging his burger as Robin grabbed his wrist. In seconds they were out the door and across the street, sprinting around the corner.
From behind them, Danny could hear the man stumble out of the Bat Burger, calling after them. "Wait! Damn it, come back!" He yelled. Danny was forced to bring his attention away from the man as Robin took a hard left. The teen yelped as he was pulled into the alleyway and behind a dumpster. His nose wrinkled at the awful smell, but before he could complain, Robin slapped a hand across his mouth. Danny glared grumpily at the teen, but Robin merely pointed towards the mouth of the alley.
Danny watched as the man ran past them, a strange sort of pride bubbling in his core when he heard the wheezy breaths of the dude ass he passed them. Secretly, he wondered if he could get Robin to use that move on him, one day. Immediately, Danny shook the thought from his head. 'This is no time for those kinds of thoughts,' he told himself.
Both of them stayed crouched down there for a bit, just until they were sure that the guy wasn't coming back. Only when the guy's footsteps had faded from Danny's enhanced hearing, did they deem it safe to venture back out. The halfa couldn't stop his sigh of relief to be away from the trash, taking a deep breath to clear his nose.
The walk back to the parking garage was just as quiet as before, but defiantly more tense. Robin kept to side streets, ducking away from lights and sidewalks that seemed crowded. Honestly, after the last time they were out and about, Danny couldn't really blame him for that one. It took way longer to get back, But Danny didn't complain.
In turn Robin didn't protest the way Danny kept close to him, practically back to chest. Occasionally, their shoulders would bump, or their arms would brush, and it took every bit of self-control he had not to grab Robin's hand. Not that the teen would have minded, with the state he was in, but Danny knew this wasn't the right time for that kind of thing. Not when they were trying to get back without being followed, and defiantly not when he was still trying to sort through his own feelings himself.
By the time they made it back, the sun was casting it's last rays on the city's clouded horizon, turning them various shades of purple and red. Once back at the top of the stairwell, Robin split from him, probably to tell Jaosn about what had happened. Danny stood there for a moment, before heading towards the living room. Settling back down, he gazed at the portal gun's tangled wires with a fresh set of eyes.
His gaze flittered over the circuits and plating, freezing on something he hadn't noticed before. There, hidden by a mass of tangled cables, was a little button. An OFF button. Groaning, he slapped his forehead before reaching out and pressing it. With a click and a beep, the wires made one last spluttering spark before falling dormant. "Of course," he scoffed, half bitter and half exasperated. "Why do my parents have the bad habit of putting an off switch in the worst possible place?" He asked the space around him. Only the silence answered him back.
Shaking himself, Danny sighed and focused on the now safe wires, getting back to work. Now that they weren't zapping him every five seconds, he might actually be able to make better progress with it.
- - -
Tim hissed as he shifted the ice pack on his chest, his breath wheezing just slightly. He had been expecting to deflect a knife, or some sort of thrown projectile. He had been braced and prepared for it, too. He hadn't expected the brat to actually punch him. And, like a complete newbie, he had left his torso unguarded.
He was glad that he was alone in the cave for the moment. Dick was back in Buldehaven, negotiating for time off so that he could better lend a hand, both in searching for Damian and covering for him while the kid was still AWOL. Duke was out dealing with the last of Joker's goons wandering around, Jason was back to ignoring all messages that were left for him, so either he had found something and wasn't in the sharing mood, or he was just being his usual, non-helpful self. Bruce had been called away to deal with a League matter, however reluctant he was to go, and was set to get back just before patrol. And Steph was upstairs with Cass, doing 'Girl Stuff' that they refused to talk about.
Part of Tim wondered if Girl Stuff included whatever Cass and Alfred had been working on. He was incredibly curious about what she and Alfred were up to in there, but had left it alone, more focused on their current predicament. He could investigate Cass's... whatever is in there, later.
Readjusting the ice pack again, Tim pulled away from his thoughts and looked over the security footage that Oracle had sent over again. The video played, just a corner of a busy Gotham street, but then it glitched slightly. Static overlays the clip for a few seconds, before clearing up again, revealing two figures on the opposite side of the street. One was obviously Damian, wearing clothes slightly too big for him, and the other was a teenager. Around the same age as the missing vigilante, and just shorter by an inch or two, there was no mistaking the fact that they were walking together. Tucked close to each other's sides, heads tilted close and holding hands, the two looked like a couple. It had been such an unexpected thing that Tim had questioned if Babs had sent him the right clip. But there was no denying that it was Damian in the video. So the question remained, who was the other guy?
When Tim had first received the video, he had posed that same question to Babs. Both Dick and Duke had seen him before, when they had confronted Damian at the mall, but there was no other real record of him. Running face recognition of the fuzzy, distorted images had brought up nothing, not even a slight match. It was almost if the teen didn't exist, which was not all that astounding in their line of work, but usually meant a lot of trouble.
Sighing, Tim leaned back in his chair, letting the video loop again. 'Just who are you, mysterious Snow-White?', he asked himself, rubbing his eyes. Groaning, he stretched as much as he was able with his new bruise before standing, shaking out the purposefully baggy shirt he had slid on to keep the ice from melting on it. He was trying his best to keep his new injury on the down-low, at least until he could figure out how to explain how their usually predictable, unpredictable wildcard of a little brother got the drop on him in the most unpredictable way possible.
Was it kind of hopeless to hope that Alfred wouldn't notice the odd attire? Yes. Did that mean the teen wasn't going to try at all? No, no it didn't. If Tim had his timing right, he might be able to slip right on up to his room, with no one any the wiser about his current physical condition. And with the abnormal amount of sleep he had been getting for the past few days, it probably wouldn't raise any alarms if he didn't come back out for a while.
Of course, Tim's perfect plan was shattered almost the minute he stepped out of the elevator, to find none other than Alfred himself re-arranging a stack of papers on Bruce's desk. The butler looked to him as he stepped out into the office, his sharp gaze raking over Tim with an intensity most hero's, and maybe even some villains, wish they had. The teen fought the urge to squirm under the man's gaze, and almost drooped alarmingly the minute he looked away.
Hope flared in Tim's chest when Alfred didn't immediately scold him with some witty quip, but it's embers were extinguished just as fast as they appeared when the man simply gestured to the chairs in front of the desk. Cursing mentally, he took a seat, careful of his now aching ribs.
"I would like to assume that you were not attempting to hide an injury from me, were you Master Timothy?" The butler asked, his tone not giving anything away.
Tim shook his head mutely, keeping his gaze fixed on the Superman paper weight they had gotten Bruce for Christmas one year.
"Good. Then I suppose you will have no trouble pulling up your shirt and letting me treat it properly, then?" Tim knew it wasn't a request, complying immediately. The butler let out a "Tsk," before getting to work, poking and probing the afflicted area to make sure nothing was broken before applying a layer of bandaged, then the ice pack, and one last layer of bandages. The cold was now pressed firmly against the bruise, dulling the ache with the cold that it radiated. Tim couldn't really help the sigh of relief that escaped him as the pain eased up.
"Thanks, Alfred." Tim sighed, leaning back in the comfortable chair for a minute before standing again.
"It was no problem, Master Timothy. But please, if you injure yourself, get it treated properly. A poorly placed bandaid will do a broken bone no good." With that, the man turned back to the desk, wiping some dust off one corner.Shaking his head, Tim sighed and left the room, headed for the kitchen. Despite all the sleep he had gotten, and the excess energy now in him, he really just wanted a cup of coffee.

Mending a Family 29/?
Prev | Next
Jason gets a ghost form!
Please let me know what you think. I hope I gave Jason a good enough ghost form.
Jason woke up with the fires of hell licking his skin. He was sweating and had a high fever. Jason got up and went to the bathroom. He turned on the shower to the cold setting. When he got under it, steam rose from his skin.
What the fuck?!
There was a knock on the door.
“Jason is everything okay,” Jazz asked.
Jason wanted to laugh at the question as he saw his steaming skin. Nothing was ‘okay’. Jason didn’t know what was going on.
He turned off the shower and put on a pair of boxers. He opened the door and saw the worried faces of his family. His skin was still steaming.
“Can one of you guys call Raven?”
Surely, Raven would know what is going on.
“Daddy, your core has fully awakened.”
“What,” he asked.
“You have a fire core! I have an ice core,” Danny called a solid ice ball to his hand.
“It sucked when it first awakened. I was always so cold, and I would accidentally freeze things. Frostbite helped me control it.”
“Okay, time for Jason to go outside, now!”
“What, why,” he asked as Jazz hoarded him out of the house.
“Because I don’t want you to set the house on fire accidentally.”
“So shoving me out where there’s a bunch of flammable trees is your solution,” he asked hysterically.
At that exact moment, a few trees spontaneously combusted. Thankfully, Danny put the fire out with his ice.
“Calm down, daddy, or you’re going to burn down the whole forest.”
Calm down?
Calm down. Calm down! Breath. Calm. Cold thoughts. Ice cream, iceberg, blizzard, Mr. Freeze. Calm. Calm!
It didn’t work. His whole body caught on fire.
Fuck, fuck, fuck!
Thankfully, Danny stayed calm and encased his dad’s body in ice, leaving his head out so he could breathe. The ice was visibly melting, but Jason sighed at the cool around him.
“Thanks, Danny.”
His little boy’s tongue was out as he concentrated on making more ice around Jason.
Now that the rest of his body was cooled, he felt the source of the heat coming right from the middle of his chest, where his core was.
“Danny, what did you do when you discovered you had an ice core? What happened?”
“I almost froze myself to death. I went to Frostbite, my ghost doctor, to help. He taught me how to control my ice. He said I would've frozen myself if I hadn’t let go of the cold. I imagine it’s the same for you, daddy, but I don’t know where you can go to let fire out without hurting other people.”
Danny bit his lip and scrunched his eyebrows as he tried to find a solution.
“I know where I can take him,” Raven walked out of the house.
“Oh, thank God,” Jason exclaimed.
“Not quite,” Raven said, “Danny, can you unfreeze your daddy? I’ll teleport him somewhere he can’t hurt anyone while he learns to control this.”
“Okay, but only if I can go, too.”
“Danny lad, you have school,” Jason tried to argue. He didn’t want his son anywhere near him if he could hurt him.
Danny crossed his arm and stubbornly lifted his chin.
“No. Whether you like it or not, I’m the closest thing to an expert that we have. I know what he’s going through. We might have different core types, but I can help if things get out of control. Being able to control ice can help in case dad starts burning up.”
“He’s not wrong,” Jazz said. Jason glared at her. Traitor.
Raven teleported them to the middle of a desert—great, more heat.
“You’re gonna have to let some fire out, daddy. That’s what I did for my ice. I don’t know what kind of things you can do with your fire, but I can create snowballs, ice spikes, ice constructs, including swords, ice laser beams, ice cover, ecto-energy, cold energy waves, ice shields, and ice breath.”
That was a lot.
“Maybe start with producing fire,” Raven said in the form of a question.
“How? I’ve never done something like this.”
Danny shrugged, “I don’t know. It’s a part of you, dad.”
Jason took a deep breath. Unbiddenly, his time with the All-Caste came to Jason’s mind eyes. He thought about the All-Blades—blades that could only be summoned and used against the presence of evil. They were made with the essence of his soul. They were made of copper and fire.
He put his hands out with his palms out. Jason imagined the weight of the swords; he imagined the heat coming from his chest traveling throughout his body and gathering in his hands. The two swords were sitting on his palms when he opened his eyes. They were the same as always, but a bigger flame engulfed them. Oh, and he had summoned them without the presence of evil.
“Cool,” his little boy breathed out.
“How are you feeling,” Raven asked.
The overwhelming heat licking his body had subsided when he summoned his swords.
“Better,” he swung the two swords. He wondered what Ducra would’ve thought about this predicament. He could imagine her laughing at him before telling him to get more discipline.
He sighed. The swords disappeared once he lost his concentration, but he didn’t feel the overwhelming heat return.
Throughout the day, he let little bursts of fire come out of his hand. He stared at his hands every time he did, still unbelieving what was happening to him.
Jason felt the heat of an explosion dancing over his skin. He felt his lungs being overwhelmed by smoke.
“Daddy, what’s wrong?
Danny’s voice sounded further and further away as Jason fell into the memories of his death.
The laughter, the fire, the explosion. He couldn’t breathe.
Bruce! Where are you? I need you, dad!
Raven and Danny watched as a red ring started from Jason’s waist and split in two over his body. When the ring disappeared, Jason had transformed. In his place stood a red, smoke-like creature. His hair was orange and mimicked the movement of flames. His eyes had the appearance of burning ember, and over his right breast was a purple ‘R’ in a white circle.
When Jason saw his transparent, smokey hand, he started crying. The tears would dissipate as they fell down his cheeks. He was still relieving his death. He wanted his dad; he didn’t want to die.
Please, Bruce, help me!
Jason felt cool arms encircling his waist. He looked down and saw his son’s sweet face. His eyes were glowing an ice-cold blue.
Jason returned to the present and, somehow, transformed into his human self. He fell to his knees and clung to his son. Raven sat by them, uncaring of the sand, and gave her support through her calm demeanor.
Jason held on to both of them.
Eventually, they went back home.
At least Jason wasn’t burning up anymore.
Later, when everyone was asleep, Jason transformed in front of a mirror. He didn’t know what to think about his ghost form.
I know very little about the all-blades. I had to research them, but this is fanfic, so I can do whatever I want.

My Girl
A/N This thought came into my head sometime this morning and I had to share it before I forgot. Also I love roasting people.
Masterlist
Eddie Munson x Fem! Reader
Warnings: Fluff, kissing in public, hard-core PDA, language, Jason's a douchebag, reader is a badass, allusions to sex at the end.
Everyone knew Eddie Munson as the town's social pariah, the freak, the metalhead non-conformist, the poster boy for the Satanic Panic of Hawkins, Indiana, simply because he played a board game in a scary sounding high school club.
What most of them didn't know was that Eddie Munson was hopelessly in love with you.
They would take one look at you and never connect him to the author of the love notes in your locker. But no. He was the one issuing every Jude Deveraux and Kathleen E. Woodiwess book in the library so he'd always have new material to get you blushing by 8:30am.
You were a year younger than Eddie, having to repeat your senior year due to not being in town for the majority of the previous year. You'd known each other for what felt like forever and everybody knew you were best friends. However your love ran deeper and was your dirty little secret that you kept to yourselves and the Hellfire Club.
Well it wasn't exactly a secret, it just wasn't obvious. The last thing Eddie wanted was for you to share his title of outcast and with Jason Carver constantly persuing you, the two of you subconsciously never properly acted like a couple unless in the safety of your friends. However that all changed the Tuesday afternoon Eddie stood on his parapet that was the cafeteria table to antagonise "Jock Jerk Jason Fucking Carver" just a little bit.
The winds had been changing and the two of you had decided that it didn't really matter if Carver was clued in to your relationship or not as senior year was drawing to a close anyway and none of it would matter come graduation.
One thing led to another and insults were successfully being hurled at one another by the two boys, with Jason choosing to take a stab at Eddie's seemingly barren love life.
"And that's why I'm the one getting laid and loving my girls while you're off slaying dragons and running a cult."
There was a glint of pride in Eddie's eyes as he threw his head back and cackled, reveling in his tormentor's oblivion.
"Well it's funny you should mention that Carver, because I gotta pretty amazing girl myself."
Jason rolled his eyes and called bullshit, clearly taking fact for a panicked rise of self defence.
"It's true, ask anybody down here. Actually no need, there she is!"
And his eyes softened as the next words fell from his mouth.
"My girl."
The doors to the cafeteria had opened and you came in, needing no more than a look to know what was going on.
Jason looked like he'd gotten whiplash as you walked over to the table to be hoisted on top of it by Eddie, where he kissed you and poured every ounce of his love into it. The room was filled with whispers and gasps as everyone tried to confirm if what they were seeing was real or not. But there you were, standing on the table in a white shirt with blue, yellow, pink, and green stripes, dark blue jeans, green converse, a black leather jacket with brightly colored flowers embroidered down one sleeve, and Eddie Munson's hands holding your body close to his.
Your audience seemed to disappear as your lips separated and you greeted each other with voices quiet and sweet. No one could believe that Eddie 'The Freak' Munson was dating one of the sweethearts of Hawkins High and so utterly soft about it. His hand stroked your hair while the other rubbed small circles into your lower back as the two of you conversed inaudibly.
His eyes were dark brown love hearts as he studied you, looking like he worshipped the ground you walked on. Which he did. Your arms circled him and your noses brushed with every syllable you uttered.
"This is a joke right?"
Your bliss was interrupted when Jason broke the silence. Turning your heads to look at him, you raised your eyebrows waiting for an elaboration.
"It's a ruse, a trick. To make me jealous. I've been trying to ask you out for a year now and you're playing hard to get Y/l/n. Because I know there's no way you'd sink so low and date the freak," and he spat out the word, "instead of me."
You smiled wickedly and laughed, turning heads at the unintentional reenactment of your boyfriend just minutes earlier. Eddie's grip on your waist had tightened at Jason's speech, underlying insecurities poking through his actions just slightly. You tightened your hold on him in return before focusing your attention on the bitchy blond in front of you and giving him a piece of your mind. Clearly your frustrations about the matter had reached a boiling point.
"You're a joke Carver. You really think I'd pick you over my best friend? Why in God's name would I turn down Eddie Munson, the sweetest, most caring person alive, who keeps a notebook of all the things I like, who calls me every night he can't be with me to talk me to sleep, who willingly took a black eye from a Sophmore to defend me when we were in 8th grade, who always makes sure I am happy and comfortable and does everything he can to cheer me up when I'm not myself, who loves 1000 times better than you ever will, over you Jason?
You, who sees me as a prize to be won, another trophy to sit on your Jock shelf, who will not leave me the fuck alone, who can't take a goddamn hint, who thinks 'no thank you' means 'try a little harder' and 'absolutely not' means 'take me I'm yours'. Jason Carver you are a vile, foul human being and I wouldn't go near you if I was on fire and you were the last source of water on Earth.
Your head is so far up your own ass it's no wonder you talk so much shit. You're not a nice guy, you're a judgemental asshole who's obsessed with chasing a nice, orange ball across a court. I counted the shots you made at the last seven games and got 1 in total which really makes me wonder how the fuck you're the captain of the basketball team. Lucas Sinclair is kicking your ass and he's only a Freshman.
And with that, Eddie promptly dipped you and kissed you as hard as he could, heart bursting with adoration and pride while Hellfire rose to their feet, applauding madly and after a moments pause various students began to join in until all but two tables were cheering for the unlikely couple. The two of you had straightened up but Eddie just couldn't seem to stop kissing you.
My point is that this is anything but a joke and we've been dating since before you tried catching me yourself. I love Eddie Munson with every fibre of my being and I swear to god I will drag you into the gym and kick your head into the ground until you've merged with your precious basketball court if I hear you say anything bad about him or the Hellfire Club again.
You're jealous of the 'freak' and there's nothing you can do about it and so your ego is inflating like a fucking airbag to try and protect you from the fact that you got turned down by last year's Prom Queen. Your inability to see the different as anything other than trashwhores gives me comfort in knowing I made a good choice telling you to go fuck your hand instead the first time around."
You only parted when Jeff banged on the table and demanded you give the roaring cafeteria a bow. You opened your arms dramatically and leaned forward, eyes on your grinning lover the whole time. You snuck a look at Jason who was red with either fury or embarrassment. Both probably.
Eddie stepped forward and led you off the table, outside and down the corridor, pulling you into the abandoned drama classroom to give you a celebration of his own.
Gareth and Jeff snorted and smirked as they watched him lead you out of the cafeteria.
"Think they're gonna screw?"
"Oh definitely, did you see the look on his face?"

Our Year Eddie Munson x Black fem reader (pt. 5)
Tumblr media
Eddie’s POV
Fucking perfect.
Was all he could think as he watched the jocks swagger into the gym like they were the fucking mage kings of the court or something.
Eddie grimaced, but tried to ignore the douchebags making eyes at whoever they were screwing on the squad currently. He was only concerned with you.
He turned back to see a few of your squad mates giving him dirty looks and the way they were eyeing you wasn’t much better.
Ever the pro, you kept a smile in place as you called out the cheers. He tried to focus on you and smiled. You looked great out there. Your brown skin had barely broken a sweat and your movements weren’t nearly as stiff as the other girls.
Man, just looking at you made everyone else fade away for Eddie. He leaned his elbows back on the bleachers behind him as a goofy grin lit up his face. Eddie Munson was whipped and he didn’t care who knew it.
Matter of fact, he was so caught up in you that he didn’t see the hoop heads looking his way.
“Alright, ladies, that’s it for today. Great job! We’re already looking strong! Let’s keep up the good work next practice. Get home safe everyone.”
With a clap of her hands, the girls and a sprinkle of guys on the team dispersed toward their waiting bags or their boyfriends. A few of them headed for the locker room. Y/n headed straight for Eddie who straightened up who wrapped her in a big hug.
“Great job out there, babe.”
“Thanks, Eddie bear,” you giggled as he kissed your forehead. “Where are the kids?” You asked referring to Mike and Dustin.
“I told them to wait in the car. C’mon we gotta get the kiddos home before their curfews or—“
“Hey, Munson, I knew you were a freak, but I didn’t take you for a creep too.” Andy Manning jeered, he was one of Jason’s loyal minions and was always the second most confrontational of their crew besides Jason.
The trio approached Eddie and y/n followed by the very smug looking core four.
“I could care less about anybody on this squad other than y/n.” Eddie shot back, squeezing his girlfriend tighter against his side. “Let’s get outta here babe.”
The pair tried to side step the gaggle of basketball players and cheerleaders only for Chance to block their path.
“Not so fast, freak, Liz told us you two trashed her car this weekend. Is that true?”
“Oh, did your car get trashed too, Liz?” Y/n asked innocently. “We got soda bombed at the movies this weekend. Seems some asshole is just going around ruining people’s nights. You better watch out.”
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Chance snapped.
“You heard my girl, ball for brains, somebody trashed our car too that night.” Eddie shot back. “You got the wrong suspects so move.”
He tugged y/n’s arm once more leading her away from the group of jocks and bitchy cheerleaders.
“Y/n when you’re ready to drop the zero, I’ll be here!” One of the guys jeered.
It was enough to stop Eddie in his tracks.
“Eddie, don’t.” His girlfriend tugged his arm. “Please. Fuck them.”
But it was too late and Eddie was already headed back in the laughing jocks direction.
“I know you’ve taken a few hits to the head since being on the team, dick cheese, but if you need a reminder of what happened to your leader,” Eddie nodded toward Jason, “I can jog your memory.”
Jason’s face burned bright red at the reminder of his three time ass kicking.
“Wha’d you say, rat hair?” Chance asked, his chest sticking out as he glared back at Eddie.
“You heard me.” Eddie shot back. “All of you did. I can use any of you dimwits as a reminder.”
Chance advanced on him and Eddie stepped closer while the rest of the squad and team looked on. Eddie’s heart was beating wildly to as the air became charged with adrenaline. Contrary to popular belief, Eddie didn’t go looking for trouble nor did he usually start it. He hated conflict ever since he was a child, and knew when to run vs when to fight. But he wasn’t a punching bag either. He’d gotten enough of that as a kid. It was no secret that he was the tough guy of Hellfire club, but douchebags still liked to try him on occasion.
“Eddie, don’t!” Y/n grabbed his arm.
“Yeah, listen to your girl, Munson.” Chance spat, green eyes narrowing.
“Dude, shut up!” Jason reprimanded.
“Might wanna listen to your leader, asshole.” Eddie smirked. “At least one of you still has your memory.”
Jason’s expression grew from wary to mortified. His face drained of color as if he thought Eddie might blow his tough guy image right then and there about kicking his ass years ago. Luckily Eddie just gave him his usual shit eating smirk.
“C’mon, Eddie,” Y/n whispered pulling her boyfriend away, “let’s go.”
“This isn’t over, Munson!” Chance called behind him.
Eddie held up his middle finger as his girlfriend led him out of the gym.
Could he have handled that better? Maybe, but he was tired of people making his social status y/n’s problem. Even more tired of guys outright disrespecting his relationship with her.
I just wanna date my girl in peace. Is that so much to ask!
He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t even realize y/n was talking.
“Eddie?”
He stopped in his tracks as he noticed you had stopped too.
“Are you ok? I know those lames pissed you off.”
“Yeah…” Eddie sighed, running a ringed hand through his messy curls. His cheeks puffed as he blew out a frustrated sigh. “I didn’t mean to make problems for you, y/n.”
“You didn’t.” She insisted. “We knew this was a possibility.”
“Still, I should probably stay away from your practices.”
“No you shouldn’t! Other girl’s boyfriends pick them up from practice it shouldn’t be any different for us.”
“Y/n, I am on my last leg for graduation. One wrong move could ruin that for me and if your Coach finds out that your boyfriend is fighting basketball team members I could get you kicked from the squad.” A sad smile tugged the corners of his lips. “Hate to break it to you beautiful, but I’m kind of a common denominator here.”
“I’d rather be off the squad, than hide you.”
Eddie’s heart skipped as he stared down at his girlfriend’s warm dark eyes and sincere expression. She was always in his corner 100%. He just wished he could make it mean something. Lately it always felt like being with him meant y/n had to sacrifice something and he hated that.
Before he could find the words to express that, his girlfriend was on her tip toes kissing him and turning his brain into mush.
With a surprised hum, Eddie wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her back.
With every undulation of her tongue in his mouth and every second in her arms his insecurities melted away.
Dammit. I love this chick. I love you, y/n. I can’t let this go…
For a long time there was nothing but white noise and y/n in his brain until:
“See, I told you he was probably hooking up.” A familiar smart alecy voice quipped.
“That still doesn’t mean I owe you five dollars.”
The couple turned to see Dustin and Mike standing at the end of the hall.
“Hey,” Eddie barked, his face heating up in embarrassment and his beat up leather jacket not helping the matter. “I thought I told you little munchkins to wait in the van!”
“Dude, you were taking five ever to come out!” Dustin shot back. He and Mike were wearing AV club shirts and matching windbreakers.
“Yeah, Eddie, not to rush you, but we do kinda have curfews.” Mike added.
“Ughh, fine Eddie rolled his eyes as y/n giggled. “C’mon ya little shits. Let’s get you two home before your mommies call the cops or whatever.”
“Thank you.” Dustin shot back.
The  older teens fell into step with the underclassmen as Dustin continued to talk.
“Hey, Eddie, tell Mike a deal’s a deal.”
“I didn’t make a deal with you, dude, you assumed we were betting and I just didn’t say anything.”
“Failure to deny a bet is an automatic loss, dude.” Eddie chuckled as he slung an arm around his girlfriend.
“What?! Since when? You guys are just dicking with me.”
“You either take the bet or deny it, Mike. That’s just how it is.” Y/n got in on the fun.
“I am not giving Dustin another five bucks!”
As they joked on their way to the car, Eddie finally felt himself relax for the first time since the run-in. He held the van door open grinning from ear to ear as y/n climbed in still joking with the kids and her brown skin glistening from the slight sheen of sweat. She was perfect, she was his, and no hoop head or cheerleader status was going to change that.

You said you'd make any of our ideas worse right? Here ya go <3
Au where Danny is blind and Damians younger twin. He was raised basically being told he was abandoned by his mother for his blindness and that his brother was healthy and happy with her. Meanwhile Danny's life was a living nightmare. No one wanted to adopt a blind kid in a small city like Amity Park, so he stayed stuck in the crappy little orphanage with neglectful caretakers. He hated this place and everyone in it, though he had no doubt his life would be much better if he hadn't been blind.
Danny was killed when a drunk driver purposely ran him over for something as stupid as ableism. Unfortunately, dying as a person with a lot of sorrow and angst in his heart inside Amity Park basically ensured he would become a spirit.
No one could have known he would be so powerful though. Or that he would be able to "see" after his death. He soon became obsessed with finding the woman who abandoned him in this tiny city in the middle of nowhere and making her pay.
First, he needed a lair. He found out from research -aka possessing his mothers ninjas that felt like her and by extention, himself- that his father was Bruce Wayne- the Batman, and the first time in forever his heart filled with want.
He wanted a father. Someone who was kind and caring and who would protect him. Someone who would want him in turn.
He wanted brothers who would play with him and tease him and teach him him how to be like them.
He wanted sisters who would stand by him and hug him when he had a bad day and help him get away with things he wasn't supposed to be doing.
He wanted a family. The family Talia had cheated him out of. The life Talia had cheated him out of.
So he picked a mansion. A horrible dilapidated old thing, literally half falling apart. One pulse of his core transformed it into a billionaires dream. Everything was pristine as the day it was built. The gardens outside changed from weeds and grass taller than he was to beautiful paved garden paths, forever in full bloom.
This of course drained his energy and he fell asleep, never taking notice of the "For Sale" sign out near the gates
Needless to say, once he awakened he was not amused to see a couple unboxing thier belongings and taking over his home. He just wanted to scare them. He didn't think throwing heavy boxes across the room into thier heads would kill them, but it did. He killed them and there was no going back.
It was only a few hours later that he discovered whoever he killed within his lair would become a ghost.
A weak ghost fully under his control.
So he continued killing the people who moved in, but was sure to always give them a month to move out, signing a warning on thier calenders. Some left. Most didn't though, and became lesser ghosts.
His obsession with the picture perfect family allowed him to develop the power to trap any one person in a painting, but only one person per canvas and he had to have a full view of thier body and he has to do that double L thing with his hands and line them up in the center.
Once he lures his mother home with a mysterious letter addressed to her mentioning her League he wastes no time trapping her and hanging her portrait in the grand entryway.
He did the same with his Father, inviting Bruce Wayne and his wards to speak about someone committing corporate espionage in his company. Danny didn't actually know what that was but it sounded important, and the end goal wasn't to fool them but to get them here. Sadly nothing seemed to go as planned. First Jason snuck into the mansion as Red Hood a week before the planned meeting time and saw something he wasn't supposed to. Namely one of his victims. So he ordered the spirits to pin the startled Jason to the wall as Danny trapped him.
The painting came out better than expected. You could tell he was startled even with his helmet covering his face simply by his body language. The multitude of transparent arms coming through the wall to pin him made the scene all the more haunting.
The bats grew more concerned with each day that passed with no word from Jason and as the day on the invitation grew closer they begin preparing to go in groups. One group goes as civilians and the other sneaking about as vigilantes and trying to find Jason while Alfred and Barbara stayed behind to keep an eye on them and the mansion respectively.
Cue them arriving at the mansion and being forced to play real life Pac-Man and free thier kin from thier paintings while avoiding getting trapped in one themselves.
Eventually one of them discovered they could actually use the furniture around the house as weapons and Danny couldn't phase through it and they told the others about it so they didn't have to keep relying on Jason's unexplained ability to punch ghosts.
Eventually they manage to temporarily defeat Danny and escape the mansion. It was so hard on everyone listening to him sob from where he was pinned on the ground, begging them not to go. Promising to be the best little brother, the best son, he promised to be good.
Bruce took it the hardest. He had failed another of his children but he needed to get the rest of his family out of the sprung trap before the weaker spirits dug Daniel out of the rubble and the mansion is pulled back into that pocket dimension and captures them again. They had been here a while and he was fairly certain his family could/ go for a round 14 but he wasn't sure they would last beyond that.
So they left. But Bruce silently promised himself he would come back for his son. He kept repeating it over and over in his mind like a mantra to block out his sons desperate cries as they left him behind.
Needless to say the ride back to Gotham was mostly silent as his children processed everything that happened.
So, Ra’s Al Ghul hears from Talia that her son -no not Daiman, the blind one- is now an extremely powerful being that reeks of something similar to the pit.
This caught Ra’s attention, thinking that whoever could effectively catch Talia and trap her is someone worthy of notice. Even more so when he finds out it’s the failure that was cast off the League because he was blind.
So, Ra’s gets Talia to confirm any information she has of the boy’s abilities, and the most notable one was his ability to cast anyone into a painting by making a frame with his fingers.
So Ra’s has this whole plan in mind of how to get the boy to his side. By taking advantage of the boy’s young age and his emotional instability, by pretending to be this kind and concerned grandfather figure that was desperately searching for his long lost grandson for so long.
Ra’s Al Ghul doesn’t really have a sense of danger when facing Danny. Because if it comes down to it he can beat him.(Due to dipping and recovering in the Lazarus pit for decades, Ra’s Al Ghul has acquired the ability to harm ghosts, he also made it the same for his sword.)
So Ra’s goes over and plays the whole, kind and concerned grandfather card. Claiming that his daughter has prevented any attempts at locating Danny. And Danny, being emotionally vulnerable because of Batman’s escape and his breakdown, instantly believes Ra’s and starts to resent Taila more.
So at first he tried to trap Ra’s in a picture frame, claiming that he can stay with Danny forever this way. Leading to Ra’s stopping Danny from forming his frame and fighting back the weaker ghosts with ease, and manipulating Danny even more to get him to come with him. Claiming that he can get him what he most desires and that he loves him too much to just stay in a painting unable to hold his grandson.
It works, and so Danny leaves with Ra’s to the League of Assassins.
Now, Ra’s doesn’t tell anyone about him having Danny, not even Talia(As she is part of his mental manipulating material and can’t let the meet lest they form a bond) and no one else knows until later.
With the time that Batman is fully prepared and wants to take his 10 year old son back home to the manor to give him all the love and care he can and then some.
Only to find the lair empty. No signs of life, not even the weaker ghosts that Danny used last time to trap and keep them at bay. This leads to Bruce spiralling thinking that he was too late to save his youngest son and thinking that if only he was faster none of this would have happened.
Cue over to Ra’s insulting Danny and telling him that he’s lesser. In hopes of lowering Danny’s self-esteem and making him rely on only him and no one else. If Danny cries, Ra’s holds tightly onto a part of Danny’s body and tells him to be quiet.
If Danny snaps and tries to harm Ra’s, he lets himself be hit enough that he can bleed. Then switches back to the kind and concerned grandfather persona and plays the victim card, saying that ‘I’m only doing these things because I love you”’, “Why would you hurt me? I’m just doing what’s best for you” ex cetera, ex cetera. He also says such things while giving Danny physical affection like a hug and the like, making it strike harder that it’s Danny’s fault and that he should have harmed his grandfather in the first place. As he is the only one that loves him.
Danny(being a literal 10 year old) has no choice but to believe Ra’s. Since his mother abandoned him, never cared about him and stopped his ever so kind grandfather from finding him(lie).
His Father never cared for him. He left him alone under a pile of rubble while he desperately begged for him not to go, taking along the children that he  actually loves with him.(bonus points if Ra’s told Danny that Bruce knew where he was but never did anything about it, even though all the evidence suggests that Bruce is a family man)
The people of Amity Park never cared about him. Hell, one of them even killed him.
Only  Ra’s, no. Only his grandfather is the one being in this world that cares for him and only him. He won’t abandon Danny like the rest of his so-called ‘family’ right? All the while Ra’s is gently telling Danny the words he wants to hear and nudging him onto the path where he resents everyone else and would be only faithful to Ra’s and Ra’s alone.

I honestly love all the WIPs you have eligible for the ask game, so instead of a specific fic imma request you give us an update for whichever option has had the fewest requests so far! (If it’s a tie then author’s choice lol) ^-^
Wasn't this a sweet idea! It was a tie for Carry My Heart and Bring Me Home and I've been wanting to build interest for Carry My Heart, so that's what you're getting.
Hope you enjoy!

It’ll be just fine.” Danny clutched his hands into fists and crossed his arms to hid the fact that he was shaking.

Escape! (Batmom in DCeased)
Time to run! Reader... did you read the first scene? i hope ya did, you got options! (Scene 1)
As you cradled yourself in the room, you realize that Alfred is somewhere in the manor. Your son Damian with with the Kent’s, Jason is probably ahead of the game and not dead. You cant just sit here! You get up as reach under the bed, you pull out a box that has escape equipment. Rope, a walkie-talkie with a bat symbol on it, and some mini toiletries. You head to the balcony and make sure the rope is secured before carefully descending yourself onto the ground. Once your feet were on the cool grass that’s when you realized that you were still in your night gown.
“Ok, Bruce is with the league. He must know what this is. He has to know what’s happening.”
You ran back inside in the manor and made a B-line to the grandfather clock. When you got in you saw your husband siting Infront of the computer screen. Watching Gotham's citizens tear each other apart. “Bruce!”
You’ve never moved so fast. As soon as Bruce stood from his seat you jumped into his arms. Sharing a deep kiss. Relief washed over you both. But it was only for a moment as the camera angle switched to another shot of the city. You pull back and look into his eyes
“are you ok?” His look of concern rattled you to your core as you remembered what had happened to your sons. You start to whale as you cried in his chest
“Bruce… they’re. Dick and Tim they’ve…”
Bruce closed his eyes and he held onto you tighter. He was too late. That’s when he realized that Alfred was in danger. “This is a virus transmitted through the internet. Computer! are the firewalls active?.”
“Not all of them sir.”
Bruce sucked his teeth “Damn it. EMP the house NOW!”
You held onto him as the manor above grew silent. “Stay here.” Bruce gave you a kiss on your hand before heading up the stairs. You look at the console desk to find a walkie with the bat symbol on it.
“Damian. Can you hear me?” You say in a somber tone. Honestly you didn’t expect an answer given how your other two sons turned.
“Ummi. Is that you.”
You felt your legs shake as you heard your youngest’s voice though the device “yes! Yes baby I’m here. Where are you? Are you safe. Don’t look at screens!” You cram all the important survival information that you’ve learned though sobs and choked laughter.
“Yes mother. I’m with the Kents. Superman has informed us. We’re at the daily planet.” Damian voice was cold yet concerned. You knew that his to the point attitude was a way to protect himself from grief. He probably put two and two together that somethings happened to his family. “Where is my father”
“Bruce went to get Alfred. He’s.” The sound of metal clanking caused you to turn around. To your horror Bruce is in one of Mr. Freezes suites with Alfred holding a shot gun close behind. “Don’t tell me… please don’t tell me you.”
Bruce responded with a curt nod. You look into his eyes, you see his pain. And without another word you pass the walkie to him while you go around the cave seeking out essentials. Two katanas, two hand guns. Smoke grenades. Anything you can carry on the move.
You stop at one of the normal looking spaces in the cave. It was a cozy relaxation space for the family when they came home from patrol. You would suture their wounds or scold them for being reckless in that space.
“I am so proud of you my son. I wish I would be with you see it.” You heard Bruce say his final goodbyes. To his son.
You grab the picture frame and walk to Alfred who stood at the ready. Whats next?
You place a hand over his “let me. Now find Damian. Please.” You take his shotgun.
You take the Batman case and look away as you hear your husbands growl. Gone from this world.
