✨ The Mysterious Holographer! 😎🤌🤌
Alpha-17 is a dangerous man! 👀 If his mission is taking the best holopics, he‘ll succeed 🫡 Nobody is safe, no excuses! 😳 He even got the latest awesome shit holopad from GAR goods!
The reason why he’s the man to succeed this challenging mission, because he’s most likely the only one of the GAR that is actually able to force convince superiors like the grumpy Marshal Commander Fox and growling Commander Wolffe into a Commander Squad group holopic despite them being gothic styled! 😎✨
The conspiracy around the Mysterious Holographer is revealing now and you‘ll find a little gift and the reason for this collab under the gallery of Alpha‘s so far holoshots! 👀
✨ Holoframed conspiracy artworks
A neat gallery scroll with links to the original post and artist’s tags 😎 Also featuring the shiny CT-9075 and Alpha-17 as narrators in the ALT-texts 📖

📸 ✨
Being the best of the best of the best (and having more fun than he would ever admit) means also that Alpha-17 uses the holopad like his weapons – fast and unerring! 🎯 He takes snapshots in the very moment when needed and will absolutely indulge the most fun and silly ones in the quiet of his office after the GAR Goth Night!
The following link leads to a shared Google file with a free-to-use transparent holopic frame artwork in DIN A4 size and neat printable quality (300 ppi), that I drew based on the design of the group holopic of Cody, Rex and the Domino Twins! 🤩🫶 I‘d love to be tagged, but no pressure – it’s a gift 💝
🔗 Holopicture frame overlay
Maybe some artist has a vision of what shenanigans Alpha might hunt with his holopad? 👀✨📸 You can use the transparent holopic-frame as an overlay to give your artwork a snapshot-, selfie- or group pic-like style – the "holopic"-finish! ✨📸 If you tag #mysterious holographer snapshot your holopic-artwork can be added together with your tag to another big post of Alpha's holopic-collection of the GAR Goth Night 😎 Unsubtle-unsubtle call to art action! 🤩
The reason for all of this 🥰
Marshal Commander Fox at the GAR Goth Night by @ghostymarni
The reason for this conspiracy is the person who started GAR Goth Night: Marni 👏🎉
She casually dropped this goth Commander Fox and didn't realise we'd go completely crazy over him and the concept of a goth-themed GAR event.
When more and more clones and OCs started to join in, none of us could have imagined how popular the night would get! We wanted to add some more mystery and gothspiracy to add some plot to the night, to show our appreciation to Marni, for her amazing ability to design and gothify anything Star Wars related! 🖤✨🌹⛓️🦇✨
Marni, thank you for hyping us up and getting this off the ground! 🤩 This wouldn't have been possible without you! This one's for you! 🫶

✨New item!✨ Blade of Grass Weapon (scimitar), legendary (requires attunement)
The razor-sharp grassy blade of this sword is able to slash with uncanny precision. You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. When you have advantage on an attack roll to hit with the sword, you can roll one additional d20 and choose which of the 3 dice to use. The sword can wrap itself around your wrist, becoming a grassy bracelet when you’re not wielding it, or return to your hand at will (no action required).
Sweeping Strike. As an action while wielding this sword, you can make a broad slash to hit multiple targets. Each creature in a 15-foot cone must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 slashing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Grass Arm. As a bonus action while the sword is being worn as a bracelet, you can cause it to grow and wreath your entire arm in a grassy mass up to the shoulder. The grass takes the shape of a brawny arm, rippling with vegetal vigor and thistly thorns. This grass arm grants you the following benefits:
You have a +10 bonus to Strength checks that involve the grass arm.
Unarmed strikes made with the grass arm have a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls, and deal an extra 3d4 piercing damage to targets you hit with it.
The hand of this arm can transform into a blade or back into a hand at will (no action required). This jagged blade functions as the Blade of Grass, however the sword’s reach is increased by 5 feet and it deals an extra 3d4 piercing damage to targets hit by it.
You gain 10 temporary hit points at the start of each of your turns. If you take fire damage, this property doesn’t function for your next turn.
The grass arm lasts until you complete a short or long rest, or until you dismiss it as a bonus action. Once Grass Arm has been used, it can’t be used again for 2d10 days.
Curse. The Blade of Grass will always reappear wrapped around your wrist when you complete a long rest. Each time you use Grass Arm after the first, the grassy mass engulfs more and more of your body while the effect is active. The fifth time you use Grass Arm, make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the grass entirely covers your body and takes control of your mind. You become a hostile chaotic evil NPC under the control of the GM. You retain your statistics with these alterations:
You permanently benefit from the effects of Grass Arm, which now applies to all of your limbs. The temporary hit points bestowed by this effect is increased to 20 at the start of each of your turns.
You are considered a Plant in addition to your normal creature type.
Your Strength score becomes 24 and your AC can’t be less than 18, regardless of what kind of armor you’re wearing.
Any creature within 5 feet of you that touches you or hits you with a melee attack takes 2d4 piercing damage.
If you are reduced to 0 hit points, the controlling effect ends and the sword reverts to its bracelet form. Each subsequent time you use Grass Arm, you must repeat the saving throw to resist being controlled again. - 🖌🎨 Like our work? 🎁 Day 22 of the DR Winter Gift Calendar has arrived with Miu- and Gonta-themed gifts!
(A masterlist of all gifts will be posted at the end of the event!)
💡 MIU - PRINTABLE SELF-CARE CHECKLIST
if there's one thing Miu is good at, it's taking care of herself...in theory. alright, so she's patently insane and probably doesn't shower, but look, if she wanted to take care of herself she'd use something like this: a checklist of Things To Do When Feeling Like Garbage. it's a full-sized printable page (8.5"x11") so you can use multiple copies to keep track of what helps you over time!
💝 [download as a PNG or PDF] 💝
🐛 GONTA - DISCORD BANNERS
do you think Gonta uses Discord? i think Gonta uses Discord. i think he is a mod of at least 7-10 casual entomology Discords and perhaps one or two about Street Fighter. (he's still trying to figure out his Tsumugi-bestowed backstory.)
and if YOU think Gonta uses Discord, or just want to put Gonta INTO Discord as your prisoner, you can throw these 600x240 banners up on your server or profile!
💝 [download as zipped PNGs] 💝
➡️ you may freely share, use, and edit these: just link back if you post them online!
[See other 2024 Winter Gift days at the tag #danganronpa❄️24!]

Game Pile: Ironsworn
First up, this is a free game, and you can go get it. For free. I can’t repeat this enough. This game asks zero dollars of you and you should grab it and check it out right now because don’t kid around here, you’re probably going to buy something on the steam sales you don’t need and aren’t going to get around to play. Ironsworn is, no matter what else I have to say about it, interesting.
Ironsworn is an easily accessible, well-laid out and approachable RPG which is suited for multiple ongoing sessions to construct a campaign with an ongoing narrative. In an indie TTRPG space that is overwhelmingly dominated by single session, highly specifically flavoured game systems about campaigns with niche experiences and sometimes ambiguously structured mechanics, Ironsworn sets itself apart. It is presented in a single pdf, it is made to be printable easily and conveniently, and while it does have some need for dice you might not already have kicking around the house, they’re d10s, so it’s not like you need particularly special dice or commercially centralised ones.
Everything else I think about it aside: Ironsworn is a good, free and convenient RPG for you to pick up and go for if you’re looking for professionally presented high-quality material. You can just go grab the pdf right now and check it out, for free.
Ironsworn guides you through how to follow its process, it has a degree of success and failure system, it even uses its dice choices to create a little bit of the ole theatre. It’s a dice system that mathematically shakes out to be generally uncertain, and that means there’s always a chance you can fail at something you’re good at and always a small chance you can succeed at a long shot. There are no overwhelming opportunities for success and excellence, because the dice are set up so if there’s no reason to roll, you shouldn’t roll, and if you should roll, there’s always a chance the dice kick you in the pants.
This is a very functional game, it has no meaningful problems on that front, and while I have beef with it in its presentation (why did you spend eight pages on table of contents that’s what the index is for), it is easily one of the best of its type I’ve ever seen. Because of its easy availability and quality execution, I don’t intend to do a lot to talk about Ironsworn as a system or give you its special hallmarks and signifiers or even dig deep into the mechanical structures of it.
Still, even with those caveats, it isn’t really what I’d consider a perfect Decemberween game, though, and that’s because I can’t imagine showing up at a family gathering with some paper and pencils and go: hey everyone, I’m gunna drag this group of us into another room and we’re going to go have an adventure telling a story together, because the story that Ironsworn seems to want to set up is not exactly… party vibes.
It’s hard to talk about what Ironsworn is for or whom, because with just the text, I don’t have access to the author. When I talk about what this game is for, what it offers, I have to base it on the text present, and the only source I have for inspiration or framing in the start of the book is referencing its mechanical forebears: Apocalypse World, City of Judas, Dungeon World, Fate, and Mythic. That is to say, the first Powered by the Apocalypse game, a dark fantasy hack for it, a fantasy dungeon crawler hack for it, a universal roleplaying system, and a popular solo RPG system. This is good sourcing, but it also speaks to a particular space of inspiration and mechanical relationships. Based on that, at its heart, Ironsworn feels like its defining mechanical provenance is ‘more Powered by the Apocalypse.’
I want to say it reminds me of 13th Warrior, or The Northman or Beowulf, but none of those really capture everything going on here, because those are short, abrupt narratives about highly deadly scenarios and also they’re very homogenised culture spaces. Maybe Samurai drama, recontextualised away from an Orientalist lens? I can’t point to a particular piece of fiction and say ‘that kind of thing.’ I can’t point to an existing game space and say ‘Ironsworn is like that.’ By no means is any of this that Ironsworn is bad. It’s actually really impressive that Ironsworn is so singular in its identity that it resists any useful or reasonable reference frame.
Ironsworn is its own identity, it has its own structure, and while that is by no means bad it does mean that there’s no immediate, convenient on-ramp to get a friend into it. It feels like it’s a game system that is in conversation against things, rather than with them. That is to say, it feels like it’s for constructing gritty, lossy, despair-tinged stories of warriors setting themselves up for potential tragedy or desperate success in pursuit of potentially conflicting dramatic needs.
It feels, and I say this without it being an insult, it feels like someone was repelled by Dungeons & Dragons, then appreciated the comparative gritty lethality of OSR games, but found some reason to not produce in that space, and instead took those ideas and concepts to work in the Powered by the Apocalypse space, resulting in something that is itself, very new. Which is to say, I don’t feel like I can present Ironsworn to someone going ‘hey, this game lets us tell and play stories like these common signifiers,’ but instead, ‘hey, do you know how those common signifiers are bad? What if they were instead-‘
It is a good game that I checked out because someone asked me to check out Ironsworn. It is by no means a game I would recommend checking out for its theme or the stories it lets you tell. It is a game that I recommend because hey, get a load of how well presented and unique this thing is. Excellently constructed, mechanically coherent, well delivered and just… missing a hook that I understand.
I really think at some point in the new year I need to dedicate some time to finding someone who can run or show me Powered by the Apocalypse being run because it really looks at this stage like a system that’s perfect for just absolutely impeding an otherwise really good creative writing exercise with the besties.
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

small shop update!
tl;dr version:
"all well" and "make history or die trying" shirts are now available print-on-demand through my etsy
"ship and aurora" postcard restocked
mini zines and other printables are being added to my ko-fi
explanations and ramblings:

as mentioned, due to print social closing and etsy getting mad when i talk about redbubble in dms, i decided to start using a print-on-demand service that integrates with etsy in order to offer shirts through my own shop.
i got a couple samples from printful and was satisfied with the results, so now you can get the "all well" shirt as well as "make history or die trying" (and also north up and south up versions of my polar wildlife design) through my etsy.
they're direct-to-garment printed (like redbubble) on comfort colors shirts. not quite as soft as the bella+canvas that i'd used for the locally printed shirts, but i think they're a bit more durable (and maybe slightly less of a lint magnet)
i also listed the medium-sized "make history" sample that's on a b+c shirt in case anyone wants it! (has "astralwhat" in small print beneath the banner like the redbubble version)

the "ship and aurora" postcard is restocked finally. it's on uncoated recycled heavy cardstock this time and looks a little different -- there's some speckles in the paper and it's a slightly "noisier" and lower contrast print than the matte and satin finish prints i've had previously. in this case, that actually makes it a little truer to the charcoal-y look of the original drawing, but i wanted to give you a head's up in case you've seen the old ones!
i'm trying to put more downloadables on my ko-fi -- mini zines, prints, etc. anything i'm charging for and/or that's multiple files is in the shop section, but single file free stuff is in the gallery with high-res downloads enabled. just boat/polar stuff for now, but i promise there's other things on the way!

Since "floor time" keeps redirecting me to autism therapy, I altered my searches. But I'm going to call being stretched by physical therapists floor time for the moment. I can whine about how much it hurts but it's always good for me.
Brought to you by the stretching session my husband gave me: cracking my back, putting me on the floor and helping me stretch in multiple ways that to outsiders might look violent, possibly because I am screaming and groaning the whole time and occasionally it sounds sexually raw.

Game Pile: For The Queers
For the Queers is a Descended from the Queen game, which is focused on developing queer relationship dynamics, at least, according to its copy text. It was produced by Scholastic Dragon Games and it’s available on itch.io and it’s in that particular category of $3 print-and-play games. Its presentation is a little ropy, it’s not exactly a looker of a game, and I don’t feel like it’s reasonable to pick on it for looking like it was made in Google Docs.
It is a challenging comparison to strike, though, because For The Queers is modelled on the storytelling pseudo-TTRPG, ‘For The Queen,’ a storytelling card game lauded for being, well, pretty solid, and for what amounts to a game of sitting around in a circle telling stories, it has a truly beautiful presentation and excellent approach. In addition to its sumptuous visuals, For the Queen is extremely well constructed in terms of its approach.
It’s built around a single deck of cards that’s set up so the first time you start the game, it’s already in order to teach you how to play the game and get you playing the game in the same fluid exchange. You just flip the cards off the top and go around reading them, in turn, for each player, until suddenly a card asks a player a question and they need to answer it. Using these questions, the players then construct a narrative, integrating the answers to one another’s questions, all building up to a dramatic conclusion to the whole narrative with a final card that, in For The Queen, is simply ‘The Queen Is Under Attack: Do you defend her?’
Everyone answers.
Game ends.
For The Queen, which is already such a simple game engine that it’s functionally impossible to control access to, has a SRD, a system reference document. You can make your own games that invoke it and use the same engine, which, like, you can do that anyway, because game rules are not copyrightable, but if you do it this way, with the SRD and invoking its branding, then you can connect your game to For The Queen, which is, you know, that’s cool. I like that, because it means that you can openly and directly show connections between games. Good stuff.
The central relationship in the story of For The Queers is that the characters are all given a central truth to their prompts: You are in the retinue of a royal, the Queen, who is ‘free of gender,’ and they are travelling with you to again, to journey to a distant land to broker an alliance, but also, this queen, they hold your heart. You are in their retinue, and they love you.
There’s a deeply different materiality to this game being a print-and-play of a paper sheet and an ordinary deck of playing cards. The game For the Queers is modelled on makes sure the deck of cards gets to be this enchanted device, a physically perfect device that controls the focus entirely. You flip a card, and that card presents the question. The art of the Queen in that game gets to be centralised and all the players are engaging with the question in front of them and only the question in front of them.
By comparison, For the Queers requires you look at the card flipped, then a lookup table, which is multiple pages long, and which has all the questions on it present ahead of time, meaning that it’s not hard for a player to mistakenly look at a question that they’re not ‘meant’ to (and isn’t even necessarily going to show up in the game), colouring their experience of the question.
It’s a testament to how a game system is not just the system but also how that system is presented. By putting the rules material in the most convenient to make form (a big a4/letter-printable sheet), the game is diminished in how it presents things that aren’t relevant to the players in the play experience. It’s hardly a real problem either — after all, there are a host of different ways you can approach this. Heck, the whole thing could be a very convenient web applet, just a website you press a ‘next card’ button on, using a simple script to randomise the prompt.
The form the game takes informs the way the game plays.
For The Queers is a For The Queen variant that promises a focus on ‘queer relationships,’ which is a really loaded place to start with things in a way that makes me pre-emptively grimace emoji. Queer relationships are massively varied; my marriage to my partner of twenty years is a queer relationship which has never been particularly in any way interesting, but so to is the relationship of one of my friends who has a literal spreadsheet to manage the intersecting commitments of their different alters’ different polycules. Capturing the breadth of those things in a game simulation of this engine runs a risk of failing to catch either end.
After all, I am one of The Queers, and reading this game’s prompts, I found myself struck by how much none of these questions invited interesting answers, or, particularly, were informed by The Queerness. Now, of course I’m not going to be a great eye level character here; after all, in a podcast about Disney movies, I routinely called out how often the narrative of every movie was a terrible relationship and everyone deserved to be guillotined, but I like to think I can suspend my sense of disbelief and personal politics easily enough to engage with the game that exists in terms of its narrative framing. This is about people who are doing something very important generally (helping the Queen on their way to trying to save the kingdom through an alliance) and very important specifically (you are travelling with someone you are in love with and the many other people that they love, and dealing with the boundaries of that).
Which means that the most prominent form of queerness this game forwards is polyamry and being loved by a queen who is ‘free of gender,’ and what that means is an exercise for the reader. The polyamry element as a form of queerness is, you know, fine, I’m not one of the people who thinks polyamry doesn’t count as a queerness, it’s something that heteronormativity wants to attack and disempower, they can come in under the umbrella as long as they want to be. But that’s kind of the extent of queerness in this space, and since we are also talking about a gender-unclarified queen, with literally no other world building information imposed, that’s kind of the limits of what kind of queerness the game and its story mechanics actually include.
In some ways, it feels breathtakingly sweet, that this game feels its vision of queer relationships are the natural outcome of what happens when you play this game, with these rules. It speaks to the idea of a player community where there is no need for anything but the natural outcome of these prompts to be a queer relationship, because queer relationships are that obvious and easy, but also, the queerness is not defined by any kind of norm. It is Queer, because it says it is Queer.
Like, you know, Dungeons & Dragons.
Let me be extremely clear on this game, though: For all that this game has this verbiage out of me about its challenge, about the things I think it mis-steps on mechanically to achieve its ends, and the implications of what it chooses to be about, none of this is to dismiss the game as a game for its own sake. You can get this game for $3 and play it and if you play it with a bunch of people who want to tell stories about messy queers entangled around their royal love, grappling with their feelings and despairs, you will absolutely be able to have a good time!

Teens to 20s - 5 (12.2%)
20s to 40s - 34 (82.9%)
40+ - 2 (4.9%)
On the matter of moderation, it was a decision from the beginning that all mods will be required to be 21+ at the time they apply for project security. We also asked how everyone would feel if we allowed contributors to be 16+ since the zine will be PG-16 in terms of content and a SFW project.
The vast majority (36 out of 41) said they were fine with 16+ contributors, while 5 said they would prefer all contributors be 18+.
Considering the response, we currently plan to allow contributors aged 16+ at the time of application. However, we take internet safety very seriously so if you have lingering concerns on this matter and want to make sure your reasons are heard, please email us so we can better understand your position and prepare accordingly.
When we asked what else people might want to see contributed, it became clear that many had big ideas! This enthusiasm was wonderful to witness, and we'd like to take a moment to address those ideas real quick.
This was a free response question:
16 requested the inclusion of Cosplay
14 requested rips of 3D models and instructions for rigging
11 requested to hear fan made music, original or remixed
9 requested to read interviews and instructional guides
5 requested more video coverage on the series
5 requested game mods/hacks or fan made games
3 requested more translations of unlocalized material
2 requested access to 3D printing files for character models
2 requested news about upcoming tournaments (online/offline)
While we would love to see more mixed media from Bloody Roar fans, our survey showed a clear trend of people primarily hoping to contribute visual art and writing.
Though we plan to stay in line with these preferences and keep this zine’s scope fairly traditional, these answers prove there is still a powerful interest in the series and we hope that these results can inspire ideas for future fan projects!
Our survey only reached a handful of the entire Bloody Roar fanbase, so we expect that this level of interest only represents a small fraction of everyone’s collective passion for the series all across the world.
That's what makes the following data so crucial:
“Are you familiar with the Bloody Roar series?”
Responders could pick one answer that best described them:
14 Play regularly and want the series to make a comeback
12 Are currently active making art, writing stories, and more
8 Played while they were young and the series stuck with them
4 Know of or became curious because of friends, but never played
3 Either found the series recently or identify as semi-active
“Tell us about your experience with the series and what you like about it!”
This was a free answer to an optional question, so not everyone responded, but of those who did, a very particular pattern emerged ― not concerning what people enjoyed about the series itself, but how they came to discover its existence.
Almost everyone said they learned about Bloody Roar through word of mouth.
Some were told about it by friends, others were shown it by a member of their family. When they weren’t introduced to it by a person, they found BR on their own by way of demo discs, used game stores, and YouTube recommendations from similar topics.
This may have been the most important question on this survey for the community.
We cannot sit on our hands hoping that other people remember Bloody Roar enough to mention it before we start talking about it ourselves. We cannot passively wait for a corporation to do something with this beloved series just to include it in conversation. If we want to see anything done, we have to do it ourselves ― and that’s what this project is all about.
This zine is a celebration of our existing interest, yes, but it will also serve as a beacon. It’s a way to keep talking about a series that deserves more attention; it’s an eye catch; it’s inspiration.
Everyone who is passionate about this series, this is a call to action:
If you want to see a tournament, online or offline, organize that tournament; if you want to make a fan comic, make that fan comic; if you want to do a series rewrite, do that series rewrite; if you want to see something, read something, play something, but don’t feel like you have the tools or capability, then organize with or commission others who would be thrilled to make it happen.
Don’t let fear or embarrassment stop you from pursuing something that would make you happy. Let this initiative inspire you! Start drawing, start writing, start programming ― even if you don’t feel like you’re capable of those things. Practice drawing by looking at the series’ art, do studies of beast forms, open a word document and write your thoughts down no matter how disjointed, and you’ll see how quickly you improve just by letting your interest fuel you.
Whatever you do, don’t wait for someone else to make the first move.
An incredible number of individuals make posts wondering if anyone remembers Bloody Roar, and far too few stick around to have a conversation afterwards. You have to earnestly share your interest, talk openly about it, or nothing will change.
We do remember Bloody Roar. We’re here, and if this survey proves anything it’s that we’re all crying out for a greater sense of community. So let’s use this opportunity; let’s take the initiative, shake off whatever’s stopping us from creating, and pay homage to this series that is so near and dear to us!
“No matter how small and niche and insignificant something might seem, the very act of researching, or spending time with, or caring for it imbues it with meaning. To you, and to the people you share it with.” ― Brian David Gilbert
FAN FAVORITES
Because the creative end of the fanbase is generally split apart without a centralized platform to find and share their work with others, we felt it was important to remind people and better understand why we remember this series so fondly.
“What’s your favorite Bloody Roar game?”
This was an optional question that 40/41 participants responded to:
20 said Bloody Roar 2 was their favorite
11 said Primal Fury/Extreme was their favorite
4 said Bloody Roar 3 was their favorite
3 said Bloody Roar 1 was their favorite
2 said Bloody Roar 4 was their favorite
Bloody Roar 2 stuck in people's minds by a landslide, so we'll be basing our zine's graphics and visual design off of BR2 to ensure it feels recognizable at a glance.
“What is your favorite animal?”
This was a completely optional question left at the end of the survey:
13 said wolves or foxes
10 said big cats, especially tigers
7 said rabbits
Other responses included dogs, bats, crows, octopi, hyenas, stoats, and cockroaches.
Hopefully it was fun to think about in this context. Maybe next time people can consider what their beast form would be if they were a zoanthrope!
“Who are your favorite characters in Bloody Roar?”
Responders could pick multiple answers:
#1 Shina (Marvel) the Leopard - 24 (58.5%)
#2 Shenlong the Tiger - 19 (46.3%)
#3 Uriko the Cat/Half Beast - 18 (43.9%)
#4 Yugo the Wolf & Long the Tiger - 17 (41.5%)
#5 Jenny the Bat - 16 (39%)
#6 Alice the Rabbit - 15 (36.6%)
#7 Bakuryu the Mole - 14 (34.1%)
#8 Hans the Fox - 13 (31.7%)
#9 Gado the Lion & Stun the Insect - 12 (29.3%)
#10 Busuzima the Chameleon - 8 (19.5%)
There were some close calls as votes came in, but here are the runner ups:
#11 Mitsuko the Boar & Xion the Unborn - 7 (17.1%)
#12 Reiji the Crow - 5 (12.2%)
#13 Cronos the Penguin/Phoenix & Uranus the Chimera - 4 (9.8%)
#14 Kohryu the Iron Mole & Mana the Ninetails - 3 (7.3%)
#15 Nagi the Spurious & Greg the Gorilla - 2 (4.9%)
No one said Ryoho the Dragon was their favorite.
This gave us an idea of which characters still stick in the minds of fans so many years since the last game’s release. It also gives us a sense of which characters are most desired to be seen and who will most likely be receiving more focus in the project.
“What do you like about those characters?”
This was an optional free response question. As expected, quite a lot of appreciation was granted to gameplay and how stylish the designs were, but the most common praise was given to each of the characters’ memorable personalities, backstories, and dynamics with each other.
Bloody Roar’s story has won out through this survey time and again, which is precisely the part that's become increasingly neglected as the years wear on.
For the last decade or more, outside of the FGC scene, it’s kind of been a free for all, “every man for himself” situation when it comes to Bloody Roar. This survey has proven that the story focused fans should be embraced to have a thriving community.
FUTURE BLOODY ROAR FAN PROJECTS
We got LOADS of interest in projects beyond this singular zine, which is very exciting! These will not happen until after this particular project is completed, but rest assured your interest is noted and we will do our best to pursue them one step at a time.
“What future Bloody Roar fan projects would you be interested in seeing?”
Responders could pick multiple answers:
33 want to see more free digital zines like this one
31 want to see the production of physical fan merch
29 want to see the production of limited run physical zines
26 want to see Bloody Roar themed artwork collabs/exchanges
25 want to see digital zines for purchase (artist profit or charity)
22 want to see the preservation and translation of official BR media
17 want to participate in a fandom discord server (story/lore focus)
16 want to see Bloody Roar themed writing collabs/exchanges
One person also wrote that they wanted to see Bloody Roar themed mods for different games, like Bomberman or other Hudson properties.
“What themes would you want to see from future Bloody Roar zines?”
This was an optional free response question:
12 want to see a zine focused on fashion (street, formal, etc)
10 want to see a zine focused on animals and beast forms
9 want to see a zine focused on lore, story, and characters
9 want to see a zine focused on characters in slice of life scenarios
8 want to see a zine focused on the players and BR's legacy
8 want to see a zine focused on fighting styles and move analysis
7 want to see a zine focused on flowers and flower language
5 want to see a zine focused on Bloody Roar OCs or Crossovers
3 want to see a zine focused on the horror and dark themes in BR
2 want to see a zine focused on romance, including OCxCanon
1 wants to see a zine focused on the villains of Bloody Roar
Additionally, 6 people said they would be happy to see anything BR related at all.
These suggestions were a joy to see! We'll never run out of ideas or motivation thanks to everyone's inspiring interests.
Please know that the invitation is completely open for anyone to spearhead their own similar projects. We don't have the market cornered on this, and we all win when there’s more Bloody Roar-related creativity shared with the world.
And that wraps up our Interest Check #1 results! Thank you for reading this far.
We'll be running a second interest check alongside our upcoming mod apps in order to finalize many of the details from information we collected in this survey. Thank you so much for your interest and support - and if you didn't get a chance to respond to this first survey, then the second one will be your next chance!
Those looking forward to contributor apps, your patience will be rewarded. For now, take a look at our Carrd for a tentative breakdown of our zine's submission and portfolio guidelines so you can prepare.
Thank you @donotwander for drawing half of the favorite character chibis with @five5sixers, @banchou for the cute favorite animal art, and @3V4C for helping out with the graphs on Canva.

Planner Setup 101: Making Your Planner Work for You
A Step-by-Step Guide to Boosting Organization and Efficiency
Your planner isn’t just a notebook with dates—it’s a tool for transforming chaos into clarity. But too often, we try to cram our lives into someone else's idea of “organized.” What if your planner actually worked for you, not the other way around?
Let’s walk through how to set up a planner that fits your life, your goals, and your rhythm. Whether you’re brand new to planning or looking to refresh your current system, this step-by-step guide will help you create a setup that’s both functional and empowering.
Step 1: Choose the Right Planner for You
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Ask yourself:
Do you prefer digital or paper?
Do you like daily breakdowns, weekly views, or monthly overviews?
Do you need portability, or do you keep your planner on your desk?
Don’t be afraid to experiment until you find the format that clicks. It should feel like an extension of your brain—not a burden.
Step 2: Define Your Planner’s Purpose
Be clear about why you’re using a planner. Is it to:
Track appointments and deadlines?
Manage projects or business tasks?
Build habits and routines?
Prioritize self-care and mental wellness?
All of the above?
Once you define the purpose, you can design your layout accordingly. This step prevents overwhelm and helps you stay focused.
Step 3: Create Your Core Sections
Every effective planner has key sections that reflect your priorities. Here are a few you might include:
Monthly Calendars: For long-term planning and key events
Weekly Spreads: For mapping out tasks and routines
Daily Pages: For detailed to-dos, time blocking, or journaling
Goals: Break big dreams into achievable steps
Habit Trackers: Build consistency, one day at a time
Notes/Ideas: Capture inspiration when it strikes
Only include what you’ll actually use. A bloated planner can quickly become a dusty one.
One of my daily spreads that helps me keep my day on track and aligned with my overall goals:

Step 4: Customize with Intention
This is where your planner truly becomes yours. Add:
Color coding or labels for quick reference
Stickers or washi tape if you’re creative (and motivated by visuals)
Tabs, bookmarks, or dashboards for easy navigation
Inserts or templates that reflect your lifestyle—like meal planning, finance tracking, or project management
Customization isn’t just for aesthetics—it boosts usability.
One of my favorite custom spreads:

Step 5: Set a Planning Routine
A planner only works if you use it. Set aside time regularly to:
Review your week every Sunday (or your reset day)
Check-in each morning to adjust tasks or priorities
Do a monthly reflection to reset your goals and intentions
This habit turns planning into a rhythm, not a chore.
Step 6: Give Yourself Permission to Adjust
Your life changes. So should your planner. Don’t be afraid to revise your layout, simplify sections, or even switch systems if something’s not working. Flexibility is the key to sustainability.
Final Thoughts
A well-set-up planner doesn’t just organize your time—it helps you own it. Whether you’re juggling multiple roles or simply trying to stay sane in a busy world, your planner should serve you.
Remember: It’s not about having the perfect planner. It’s about creating a space that supports your unique goals, pace, and priorities.
So take a deep breath, grab your favorite pen, and start building a system that lets you thrive.
