Seriously?! For real?!!
All this time whenever I use those words/phrases I meant it literally so I'm expecting the same when other people use it.
People I followed up must have been annoyed at me. T_T
Neurotypicals / non-autistics, why do you have such a complicated way of communicating? Why don't you just say whatever it is your want to say/mean?

Thinking today about how as someone with major texture issues around most fruits and vegetables, it would have helped so much if someone had come to me years ago and said
Hey:
Make it tiny
Mix it with something Good Texture that you like
"Eat healthy!" they say, and then they show you pictures of a smiling woman digging a fork into half a butternut squash or eyeing a bowl of whole blueberries like a ravening wolf and your spine wants to crawl out through your skull at the thought of that Texture in your mouth.
But you know what I can do? Cut zucchini into paper-thin slices and cook it with noodles and marinara. Chop that spinach fine and scramble it with eggs and cheese. If I'm having a day where the thought of a grape popping in my mouth makes me nauseous, I can cut it in half. My chinese takeout gets diced into tiny pieces and mixed into the rice. It doesn't work with everything - seeds are still a Major Problem - but the number of fruits and veg and even world cuisines that I can eat has expanded SO MUCH since I discovered this. YMMV, but it's such a stupidly simple thing to do, and nobody ever told me.

Inktober No.17 - 'Leave me alone'
Sherlock has to endure rehab after he was shot by Mary. The worst of all were group therapy sessions he had to attend to because doctors were convinced they needed to treat the psychological trauma of being victim of a gunshot wound. The problem was, the trauma of being misunderstood weighted way heavier on him.
Shout out to all autistics who had to go through therapy designed for neurotypical patients and have the scars to prove it… and to all fic authors who included/addressed this problem in their Sherlock fanfiction.
From the @whumptober prompt list for Inktober 2023. Tried digital watercolours again. This one took ages to paint (three evenings). I don't know why, maybe because wanted it to be dull and grey to show Sherlock's desperate dark mood.
I am flattered if you reblog, but do NOT post my art on other sites/social media or use in any other way without my written permission.

people who are neurodivergent:
autistic people
people with ADHD
people who are ALSO neurodivergent:
anxious and depressed people
intellectually disabled people
people with Multiple Sclerosis
schizospec (schizophrenia spectrum) people
people with movement and tic disorders
antisocial and narcisstic people
people with brain injuries (ex, from physical trauma or stroke)
plural people, including nondisordered ones
people with paraphilic disorders
literally anyone with a condition related to the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, nerves) or other "atypical" brain experiences
neurodivergent is an umbrella term that covers a whole bunch of people! it is not a synonym for autism and adhd. please include all kinds of neurodivergent people in your activism!
(disclaimer: no one has to be neurodivergent if they dont want to; people are allowed to define themselves as they wish!)

would y’all jump me if I said I genuinely see nolan as autistic??
bc he checks a lot of the boxes for a diagnosis also mark is so nd coded to me too
Also ok list of reasons why nolan is autistic TO ME this is just a HEADCANON
i dont hc as him as autistic just because he struggles to display emotions also in the comic the other viltrumites adapt to earth ALOT better than nolan did bc nolan is always struggling with his emotions and displaying them even in the endgame of the comic
-He’s incredibly socially inept and does not understand social cues, yes this is an alien thing but Idc it’s an autistic thing too people have always used fantasy and scifi species in place of real life groups of people for either sexuality or mental illness reasons
-struggles to keep / maintain friendships
- always tends to prefer wearing very tight fitting clothes over loose ones
-He struggles immensely with change, he literally would rather die
-He feels things very deeply but struggles to verbalize those emotions
-is capable of talking at length for long periods of time about things he is knowledgeable about (infodumping)
-Struggles with displaying empathy, it was always there he didn’t just learn it on thraxa that’s just the first time he found himself able to begin expressing it more at the lowest point of his life (shoutout to my friend fio for pointing this out so eloquently u get me fr)
-I can’t say ab his canon eating habits bc we don’t get much of a look at them sadly :b

Annoys the fuck out of me when people in positions of authority at my work from home job are like “we should all get together in person, it’s so beneficial.” To you. And you can go in whenever you want. But why do I have to travel for 12 hours when I don’t find it beneficial (in fact I find it actively damaging)? Extroverts always win. Morning people always win. In person workers always win. Fucking sick of it

Jennifer Garner giving the performance of her life in Juno (2007) on her knees in the middle of a busy shopping mall pretending to talk to Elliot Page's big fake pregnant belly bc her character cares more about this bonding experience with her future child than all her personal friends and a mall full of strangers seeing her be So Weird with this random pregnant teen

You've fully infected me with yandere Jason 😭 I'm having thoughts of him every day - Darling giving him the first soft morning he's experienced in a long time. Waking him up with gentle kisses, caressing his cheek and hair. Jason finally, for the first time in his life, having someone he, without a trace of doubt, trusts. Darling has seen his body and his trauma and they stayed. They still see the boy they loved and they don't think he's ruined or gone. They make up for lost time and stolen experiences. Darling bakes sweets for Jason, they read books, maybe get a pet, go away to a neat little house by the seaside or forrest where there's only them and Jason is at peace. Darling wearing a soft jumper and being like a big teddy bear when Jason holds them. Darling calling him pretty boy, like they used to, and Jason not knowing how to react. The two of them in a pool or hot tub, going in a fluffy or spicy direction. Jason laughing for the first time in a while.
And the best part to me about this kind of yandere Jason is that his relationship with Darling is the healthiest aspect of his life. Like...EVERY other thing he does, and every other person he interacts with, is him expressing his trauma in a vitriolic violent way (via a whole city-wide murder revenge plot, killing criminals in his own form of justice, etc). But with Darling, the hate inside him takes a backseat for once. He can almost feel whole and human and happy again.

hi, hope you're doing well! i know you joined the team in s2 when a lot of that groundwork was laid in s1, but what were the discussions around the portrayal of sherlock's depression/addiction like? i love how elementary seemed to portray his depression as more dysthmic especially compared to contemporary shows like You're the Worst/Bojack Horseman, though it seemed to be less of a focus in later seasons. also thanks for helping my fave show of all time come to life!
I'm fine except for the annoying covid.
We talked about Sherlock's addiction all the time, though less so about his depression. I'm not 100% sure he has depression, TBH. Maybe bipolar disorder? Whatever type of depression he may or may not have is complicated by a LOT of other issues. We always believed Sherlock's neuroatypicality was extremely atypical and thus difficult to pin down. We wrote that part of him as, well, Sherlock. Diagnose at your own peril.
That said, I can certainly see why you might see him as dysthymic. Your understanding of Sherlock's issues may vary.
And thanks for the kind words.

Hey so I don't know if it's been discussed before, but are high-IQ people considered a part of the neurodivergent community ?
I feel like people often don't know or ignore the fact that high IQ doesn't mean intelligence, but does mean neurodivergence. The brain doesn't function the same way - High IQ is neuroatypical, like the autism spectrum, ADHD or dyslexia
Yet I feel like I've never seen it adressed unless it's linked to autism or 'burned out gifted kids' (which is not what I'm talking about here). How come ? If anyone knows more, genuinely asking !

Purple + Bug stuff Bugbo themed stimboard for @thearchyexpunged!!! I'm not too familiar with the content, so I went mostly on the character design (color) and well, the fact that he's a bug!
If there's anything I could've done better, send me another ask and I'll remake it!

Ablebody autistic people (or ablebody ND really) need to start recognising the unique experiences of cripple ND people and stop speaking over them in the community. It is not a competition of who is the most hurt or have it worse. They need to stop calling themselves cripple when this is a term specifically for disabled body people.
