Okay, look, this conversation is sweet enough on its face, but then you think about the fact it’s the first one you get after the Gauntlet mission. Meaning either a) she just almost died or b) Jorgan just almost died and she had to patch him up enough to keep that from happening.

Cartoon Heroes Paper Cut-Outs

Kidagakash ‘Kida’ Nedakh

Atlantis: The Lost Empire is a 2001 animated fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation.  Set in the early 1900’s, it tells the tale of an archaeo-linguist named Milo Thatch who ends up in the employ of an eccentric millionaire who is launching an expedition to discover the lost city of Atlantis.  Desperate to see Atlantis for himself, Thatch agrees to join the ill-fated crew of the Ulysseus.  

A mechanical beast of Atlantean design guards the entrance to the empire.  It destroys the Ulysseus and most aboard perish.  Thatch and a handful of survivors find refuge in an underwater cavern where they meet Kidagakash ‘Kida’ Nedakh the warrior princess of Atlantis (voiced by Actress Cree Summer).

Thatch’s studies of ancient linguistics enables he and Kida to communicate.  The two form a quick bond and end up having to fend off an army of surface-world mercenaries who have been sent down to plunder Atlantis of its riches.  The giant crystal that acts as the ‘Heart of Atlantis’ senses the danger these surface-men pose and reactively merges with Kida.  Having become one with the crystal, Kida is able to awaken stone guardians that ultimately save Atlantis and repel the invaders.  

The crystal reverts Kida back to her human form and she becomes the new queen of Atlantis.  She and Thatch have fallen in love and he chooses to stay behind and serve at her side as her mate.    

Atlantis: The Lost Empire is fantastic. A highly, highly recommended watch.

La Batcomputadora emitió un leve ping y proyectó la foto más reveladora: Peter, en una camiseta tres tallas más pequeña de lo recomendable, abrazando a Tim por detrás mientras ambos compartían un tazón de ramen en lo que parecía ser el sofá de la Batcueva, con Tim visiblemente agotado y feliz.

Justo entonces, Bruce bajó en el ascensor. Su capa ondeó detrás de él como una sentencia silenciosa.

—¿Qué están haciendo? —preguntó sin levantar la voz, que, para Bruce, era aún peor.

—Mira esto —dijo Jason, señalando la pantalla sin rastro de arrepentimiento.

Bruce se quedó en silencio. Su mandíbula se tensó apenas. La imagen, la secuencia de chats, la ubicación marcada en Nueva York, la firma digital multiversal que Babs había rastreado en segundo plano…

—¿Spider-Man? —dijo finalmente, con un tono que podría usarse para hablar de un virus alienígena peligroso—. ¿Del universo 1610? ¿O 616?

—Del que es flaco con espalda de nadador y cara de “profesor de ciencias simpático” —aclaró Jason—. Tiene sentido. Tim está saliendo con su versión científica y traumatizada del otro lado del multiverso.

—También es fuerte —añadió Damian, ceñudo—. Puede levantar un coche con una mano y a Timothy como si fuera un trapo. Es ofensivo.

—Y le dice “mi amorcito empollón” cuando cree que nadie escucha —aportó Steph, riendo.

Bruce guardó silencio unos segundos más.

—¿Desde cuándo lo saben?

—Unas horas —dijeron todos al unísono.

—¿Y Tim? ¿Lo sabe que lo saben?

—Eh... no —dijo Dick—. Pero Peter sí. Creo que ahora mismo está abrazándolo como koala mientras duerme.

Bruce se frotó el puente de la nariz.

—¿Y qué más saben de él?

—Genio científico, sentido del humor irritante, un trauma nivel “murciélago en la ventana”, vecino del Queens y... —Barbara tecleó—. Tiene doce demandas de daños materiales retiradas en Nueva York. Y un gato que odia a todo el mundo menos a Tim.

Bruce no respondió. Caminó lentamente hacia el panel, examinó las imágenes una vez más. Luego, simplemente dijo:

—Quiero conocerlo. En persona.

—¿Como Batman o como Bruce? —preguntó Dick.

—Ambos.

—¿Vas a intimidarlo con la Batiarmadura y luego invitarlo a cenar? —dijo Jason con una carcajada.

Bruce se volvió, y por un momento, todos jurarían que lo vieron sonreír apenas.

—Si ese chico es capaz de hacer que Tim duerma ocho horas seguidas… merece una oportunidad.

—¡Woooooow! —exclamó Steph—. ¡Alguien archiva esta fecha como “día en que Bruce aprobó a un novio multiversal”!

—Y ahora solo falta que no lo mate por accidente —murmuró Damian.

—O que no termine adoptándolo también —añadió Dick, encogiéndose de hombros—. Ya sabéis cómo es.

Todos asintieron. Porque sí. Lo sabían.
