This one's a quick post, but expect a longer one over at circulars-reasoning when I'm not drowning in grades:
Integration and Fusion are two different words. Most folks know this, but there's still a lot of misconceptions about what the words mean.
At the most basic level:
Fusion: The complete combining of alters into one. This can be two alters fusing into one alter, or multiple alters fusing together.
Integration: The lowering of dissociative barriers. Memory improvements, better communication, and the ability to understand more about the others you share a head with - all of that.
Integration and fusion are fundamentally connected because fusion isn't going to happen until integration happens. However, they are not the same thing.
Every system should work towards integration, but not every system should work towards fusion.
