Au where One for All works like Doctor Who regeneration

Oh this gripped me

1- Yoichi died in the vault. His brother got too busy and far to make sure Yoichi ate, and he starved. He didn't stay dead.

Yoichi fades in golden energy, and then is in a new body: an angry body, a soldier's body, a body that can fight. His hair is vibrant and spiky, and doesn't look related to AfO anymore. He tears himself out of the vault and runs.

2- AfO kills the Second life of his brother, thinking this will force him back. Instead, he regenerates again. His hair is longer and lighter, but he's still strong and a fighter. This body is built for balance though, technique and not brute strength. The Third life of Yoichi remembers, and runs while his brother is distracted. He continues to fight, but he's smarter about it. Living so long will teach you that. When he's injured, he knows he can't get to a hospital. He limps into the woods to die instead, in the open air and under the sun, not a vault or battlefield.

3- his Fourth life starts young and lasts longer. He wants peace. He can sense danger, now, and he thinks if he had this earlier he would have never been trapped by his brother. But he also can't help himself from fighting, and eventually he leaves the safety of his hermit life. He's in awe to see heroes on the street, and distracted just long enough to let a villain kill him. This time, when the gold fades, his Fifth body is that of a confident hero who here to help.

4- he meets his brother again, who thought Yoichi was lost forever. AfO doesn't know it's him, until he tries to take blackwhip, such an interesting quirk. But he can't, so he tosses the hero aside and snaps his neck. He sees the glow start again and runs to get closer. This time, Yoichi regenerates into yet another hero body- but one who can hide, and his vision is obscured by smoke before he can reach him. Yoichi escapes.

5- On his seventh life, he regenerates into a very different body, but finds it's not as dysphoric as he'd have expected. He decides he could take gender or leave it either way, but it's quite nice to be pretty again. She falls in love, and is sure her brother won't find her in this body, he didn't see the last regeneration. But somehow, he catches AfO's attention anyway, annoying him in just the way siblings can. She's killed, and even in the bright light if the explosion, AfO would know that gold anywhere, a younger hero boy darting out to grab Torino and flee. This is Yoichi's eighth time around, and he's stronger than ever. He grieves more for his husband and son than his brother. She's going to kill AfO, if it kills her too.

+1- finally, he does it- AfO falls dead, and as All Might, he does too a moment later. The difference is that he gets a wave of light, and finds herself in a much smaller body. A young child, not unlike his last glimpse of Kotaro. Perhaps nine years old, and cute if not noteworthy in appearance. A child, marking a band new life now that he's free of AfO. He leaves the battlefield, and wonders what cover name he should use this time.

He's gone before AfO's body starts sparking gold too, changing. Returning. Regenerating.

I have to admit that I'm kinda disappointed in Bucchigiri so far, but at the same time I want to see more 'cause the setting and the designs are really cool. Even the story could be interesting if it's done right. I've seen all the discourse with Arajin and as much as I love my boy Matakara I've realized something.

Matakara and Arajin are actually very similar but Matakara is just done better. Let me explain.

Arajin's goal: lose his virginity

Matakara's goal: become a Honkibito

Arajin's obsession: Mahoro/ girls

Matakara's obsession: Arajin/ become Honki people with him

Mahoro shows no interest in Arajin, broke his love stone but Arajin still believes he has a chance. Meanwhile, Arajin avoids Marakara, rejects him and still Matakara believes in him and holds on to his stone.

They both don't let go and pursue the person they like in some ways.

Matakara is as obsessive as Arajin, but his character is more fleshed out. He has a social circle with good friends. We have a backstory with his brother, so there's someone important to him other than Arajin.

He doesn't only use his strength for selfish reasons like Arajin but to protect his friends or the Minato Kai gang.

There's mystery surrounding the shadow in his room, we don't know what will happen to him. That gives the audience some anticipation and keeps its interest in the character and his potential.

I don't think people don't like Arajin because he's flawed. Matakara as sweet as he is has flaws too and other characters on the show as well. Sen'ya for example is shady af and doesn't tell Arajin everything and keeps stuff from him, so not everyone is a saint. And it's not because of bad writing or anything, it's just the way it was intended to be.

The intent here is to subvert expectations. I was surprised at first that it didn't go the way I thought. First, the harem trope is completely different from what we're used to.

- The mc pursues a girl but mostly men are after him, every gang leader wants him on their team because they think he's really strong. So they completely change what people expect of the harem genre.

- Mahoro is not the typical cute and innocent girl the mc usually falls for. She's ruthless, a brocon and doesn't hesitate to manipulate people to get what she wants. That makes her interesting because she's really not what she seems and is similar to Arajin and Matakara (her obsession with her brother)

- Arajin is not the typical shonen prota with big morals or big dreams (the "I want to become xx" type of hero), he doesn't want to be strong or anything significant other than losing his virginity like a normal teenager, and that's the joke. You expected something else? No, we get a pathetic mc who's most likely going to surprise us again just to break our expectations.

We're not supposed to root for Arajin, I think he is a tool to tell a delinquent story in a new kind of way. His character is annoying but I think it's on purpose and he's going to be useful somehow. How? Idk time will tell.

The process is not enjoyable right now and that's fine that people feel that way, but I think it's going to make sense at one point or another as to why Arajin acts like that.

I've seen some people not understanding all the criticism he gets, but I think it's fair criticism, judging that Arajin is not the type of character you would root for. While we know he's going to change it still seems like a long way, especially when you just don't care about the mc or you don't find him interesting in any way. That got me thinking that this is exactly how we're supposed to feel about him, at least for now. Arajin's not supposed to be a likable character so I'd say it's working. it's all fine because for once it's different, this is not what we expect of a shonen protagonist, so it's interesting.

I've also seen people say that Arajin has some development and I'm not sure about that. Sure, as the story progresses and he's getting more and more in a mess, Arajin's reactions have more range, there are some elements here and there that show us he cares about some things. But his attitude remains the same. And I think something bigger has to happen for him to actually break out of his character.

We've seen how he reacted to Akutaro's speech about Mahoro. It demonstrates that he can get mad for someone else, but he left Matakara tied up in a basement and doesn't get mad for him at all. We have a whole flashback with him feeling guilty for leaving Matakara and he has no remorse doing it again because he's not his priority. Something bad is going to happen so Arajin will finally snap out of it and pay attention to Matakara and realize his behavior was not okay. I hope that's the course of action at least or I'll be really disappointed. Arajin is not a good mc and that's cool, it's not groundbreaking but different. That being said, it has to mean something in the story and I haven't seen that yet.

So yeah, I'm not giving up on this anime and I'm looking forward to see how the story will unfold!

Now as a near 19 year old I can’t think about him or the game in general without having to stop drop and roll but at the end of the day, Dimentio is still just some guy. But in the morning and the afternoon he’s a fucking idiot. Like you absolute goofiest of goobers, all you had to do was teleport the heroes to Dimension D and wait everything out. That shit is why he’s currently burning in hell. Not for mass murder or being annoying but for the stupidest plan I have ever heard in my entire life. He is also one of the most intriguing characters ever made in the Mario franchise.

Like okay. You are given this purple and yellow triangular smudge on your screen and you go “hmm… (scratches chin) something is Wrong With This Animal. It Might be Sick.” And of course he ends up betraying the sympathetic tragic villain Bleckie Bear and dies (thank GOD) whatever credits roll NO!!!!

Nintendo doesn’t lay out his story for you on screen like they do with Bleck. If you don’t take the time to explore, Dimentio will never be more than Bleck’s silly and funny-talking minion who betrayed him out of greed or.. whatever reason. Because he didn’t say it. No no- You have to go out of your way to investigate and pay money and put pieces of this puzzle together to find out that hurt people hurt people (🤓)

He could be some random bloke. He could the descendant of this sad unnamed character and somehow “never found happiness” whatever THAT means. He could be THE sad unnamed character that went through an accident so devastating that it left his mother dead and it left everyone believing HE was dead. This accident, whatever it was, was so horrifying that Dimentio, who can teleport across dimensions, was unable (by choice or not) to find and tell his remaining family he was alive. After his “death”, his sister would die as well. Their father, likely going insane with unimaginable grief, would rip her soul from the afterlife just to keep his only child- the only family he had left- with him, oblivious to the fact that somewhere, his son was still alive. This little girl, now forever trapped as a Pixl, would become so angry at what her father had done that she would start a war and slaughter ANYONE that tried to get in her way. The Pixl Queen- this angry, scared, and confused child- would lose once more. She would be destroyed. All she is now is a shadow of her former self. And that’s what she would reform as in the pits below an Ancient city, where, at the hands of our heroes, she would lose AGAIN. Dimentio could be oblivious to all of this. He could know a fraction of it. He could know all of it. He could hold no guilt. He could blame himself for what had happened to her, for he had been gone all those years- whatever that means.

He could want to destroy everyone and everything out of personal gain- to recreate them all in his image and rule them as he sees fit all because he is a greedy narcissist. He could want to destroy everyone and everything because, like Blumiere, he sees no point in anything after losing all he loved in all worlds. Maybe he betrayed Blumiere because Dimentio wanted to rule a timeline that goes his way and ONLY his way. Maybe “his way” is where he gets all he wanted in riches, in wealth, in a population that essentially worships him, and so on. After all, he does say that he wants to be king of all worlds. Maybe that isn’t everything he wants. After all, he doesn’t just wipe out everyone in all dimensions and create mindless followers using the Dark Prognosticus that is capable of doing that exact thing. No. Like Blumiere, Dimentio, too, wants the worlds gone. Erased. All of them. The worlds that caused that accident. killed his mom. “killed” him. killed his sister. And in these self-described and self-created perfect new worlds, his timeline, his way, where he can create anything and anyone he wants- maybe he isn’t alone anymore. Whatever that means.

I’m throwing around the idea of her being a forensic scientist/or a pro-athlete

I hc her as being the same age as Dick i.e around 26

she’s back in Gotham bc Bruce died, stays in Gotham bc she sees the absolute mess it’s in & decides to help

even if it’s dubious if anyone really wants/needs her there

still an established LA hero with a public reputation so she’s not totally unknown to Gotham

finds Damian basically homeless in Gotham/breaking into places to stay and offers to take him in

he only accepts bc he knows she’s a Kane/related to his father

correctly regards Damian as an abused child / but doesn’t have the prior extensive knowledge or experience with the League to cloud her judgement on Talia or Damian (they’re equally both victims in her eyes)

while she is leagues more adjusted emotionally than the other Bats (she almost never interacts with Bruce outside of her childhood) - she’s still a lil traumatized and unhealthily copes regarding her parental situation and Kathy Kane

also has a little bit of trauma-related amnesia with a certain section of her childhood (that will come into play)

Tom Bronson - Wildcat (the third)

If you don’t know who he is (I think only JSA fans know if his existence), he’s the third-ish Wildcat of the 2007 Justice Society, the estranged son of Ted Grant, following the long-ago death of Yolanda Montez and way-longer ago death of Jake Grant.

And yes, he is the one that transforms into an anthropomorphic black jaguar (he got it from his mom)

Ted will make an appearance and somehow I WILL bring Yolanda back from the dead/maybe even Jake too

Tom goes to Gotham to help his dad with the city shenanigans of BfTC

jury’s still out on whether I’m making him a love interest for Bette (my brain will make crack ships of the most random characters, don’t mind it)

Rory can use their strength, minds, and skills to help him as Ragman

Ragman (the suit) was canonically created to protect the Jewish population of Europe around the 1500s after the Golem of Prague was also made

Bruce makes an appearance in his 90s series actually / and Rory makes a cameo in a couple issues of O’Neil Batman

I’m planning on making him a more homegrown hero who tends to the homeless/poor/criminals that the Bats don’t get to- the whole “Tatterdemalion of the Justice” thing

is here bc we need another non-Bat pov of Gotham (he’s way more familiar with Gotham than Tom)

and I also like Gotham being more diverse in terms of vigilantes

bonus mentor for both Bette and Damian

he likes Bette bc shes 1. Jewish 2. a lighter hero than the other Bats 3. is a little easier to communicate with

he knows Damian is struggling and tries to support him in any way he can (as Rory also has daily struggles about his own morality bc of the Ragman suit/entity)

currently targeting Talia/Leviathan, Damian, and Jason

also begins targeting Bette after she starts investigating in search of Kathy

Talia - Head of Leviathan

okay so. Resurrection of Ras al Ghul happens, but not the same way. Talia tries to go against Dusan on her own with Damian after learning of the body snatching plot

Inevitably, Ras comes back. He manipulates Talia and Damian into staying for a little longer. Things do not work out, and Talia deliberately sends Damian to Gotham bc Bruce isn’t dead (yet).

Bruce dies, and Talia loses hope in trusting any of the Bats to help her and Damian (she and Dick never got along, her relationship with Jason is strained)

So she creates Leviathan as a way to combat her father

BUT it’s not the same organization at all. It’s more of a spy organization with the direct purpose of taking down Ras/implementing a better version of his ecological agenda without as much murder and bloodshed.

Leviathan also is technically against Batman bc obviously Talia has never aligned completely with Bruce either. But she doesn’t purposefully try to kill him or Damian.

She’s a very conflicted character here, and she’ll show up in person to see Damian and learn of his status. As a mom, not a villain.

She’ll have a bigger part later on as Leviathan comes into conflict with Spyral.

Wants to take Damian back but is terrified that she’s not a good mother, that’s she’ll only make her precious son worse, and that Ras will just take something else from her permanently again (familial trauma x2)

So she flip-flops between helping Damian and trying to stop him from being a vigilante out of fear for his safety - which Damian detests (mommy issues 2: electric boogaloo)

Leviathan becomes a target for Spyral after it starts gaining followers that aren’t former League traitors and gains a wider influence among the eco-conscious and those who genuinely want Ras al Ghul gone forever

Dick - Nightwing/Batman

basically the same as og Battle for the Cowl

he becomes Batman and struggles under the mantle

doesn’t take in Damian so Tim stays Robin and in Gotham longer

he doesn't meet Damian until after Bette starts taking care of the kid so they don't have the same connection as in canon

he slowly becomes endeared to Damian the more they interact as the plot goes forward

•the reason why we barely see mikayla is because she's very lazy and spends most of her time sleeping :3 she falls asleep in the most random places in the factory so the others always have to watch their steps bc if you wake her up you WILL regret it

Of all "hot takes" some people have about BakuDeku, whether from an anti or a BkDk shipper, the one I hate the most is the "bully actually likes girl who he pulls her pigtails".

It's stupid and to me it doesn't fit for them.

Bakugou and Midoriya don't seem like the type to always have been in love with each other since kids. They seem like the type who would fall in love much later in life. Why? Well, they have goals to become heroes and by canon, neither has expressed being interested in romance at this time or in their past. I just see them falling in love at the youngest being eighteen to early twenties when they have their shit together.

But during their middle school years?

I doubt either would have been like "Oh I've always been in love with you since middle school".

Bakugou already expressed why he bullied Midoriya. Simply put, he misunderstood how Midoriya saw him and has his own insecurities. He had people enable his behavior also. Sometimes, I wonder if the other characters are invisible to the audience because the way people like to just bring up Bakugou and not others whom mistreated Midoriya makes me think so. There were whole adults who bullied Midoriya.

From Midoriya’s side, it wasn't like he wanted Bakugou to bully him. He was aware he was being bullied and it was wrong. He couldn't say anything because who would believe the quirkless kid? And I'm sure he didn't say anything to his mom because he didn't want her to worry. Midoriya is the type who hides things out of the sake of not wanting to bother others. (Trust me, I know the feeling all too well.)

I feel like antis pull the "pigtail pulling bully" card just make BakuDeku seem even worse as a ship than what it is. Yeah, their relationship isn’t the best, but jeez. When you pull that card, even if don't like romantic BakuDeku, you are implying it is romantic somehow in some way. You're admitting that Bakugou has feelings for Midoriya and vice versa. In a way, you're shipping it without shipping it.

And with shippers, it may be because they like the idea of Bakugou and Midoriya being in love since forever, the "childhood romance" trope. The "those feelings have always been there, I was just stupid at the time" trope. It's cute, a guilty pleasure. But BkDks, you're not making the ship look any better if you're using that card. You're playing right into the antis' hands.

Now, if that's how you feel about BakuDeku, the "bully pulls girl's pigtails because he likes her" take, alright. I don't care.

But to me? I just don't see it. I don't.

That "bully likes girl" thing from my knowledge was something our parents told us to make us "feel better" about being bullied and that it stems from sexist views that men are dominant and women are submissive. That a girl should just accept that kind of attention because at least she is getting some attention, unwanted or not. That boys will be boys, they can get away with it. When the victim and bully are the same gender, that's when "honey, it's wrong" and "they're probably going through something or have issues they are unaware of yet".

That's the time people want to show concern.

So to apply it to a ship with two characters of the same sex and where it was clear as to why one of them was a bully and the reasons are nonromantic, it just... it's just strange to me. It doesn't make sense.

If we all know that bullies in real life most of the time bully someone because they have their own issues to work or their home life sucks in some way, why apply it to BakuDeku when we have the reasons why Bakugou is a bully?

What, Bakugou can't have his reasons be nonromantic? He can't have issues and faults and admit to them because he knows he was wrong?

And for Midoriya, why put him in more of the "submissive" role like that? Make him see naive than what he really is in canon?

I don't care to hear answers, these questions are rhetorical.

Just expressing a take that I hate and annoy me.

There are definitely errors, as in all of these, because I’m secretly writing this on my iPad while pretending to mark exams. But here we are, twirling our hair kicking our feet and giggling etc.

Things were definitely getting easier for Rose. Her first crops were sprouting, and she’d even found time to do a little exploring in the mines. She didn’t go deep, because apparently there were all kinds of creatures down there, but she’d already pulled up a backpack full of what the internet had told her were likely to be geodes. Maybe there would be something priceless in there… or maybe at least a few samples that would interest Scott at the museum. That would be cool too, and more realistic. She had tried to break a few open, but between the cracks in her hands from working in all weathers and her complete lack of knowledge she’d decided she’d have to go and see the Sanchez boys instead. They’d seen each other quite a lot in the last couple of weeks. She still had a huge crush on Rafael, but things had been pretty much all business recently. She’d been busy on the farm, and he and Pablo had really helped by fixing and improving all of her tools… well, Rafael had helped fix them, Pablo had mainly chatted and tried to flirt, and taken her money. She hadn’t exactly been avoiding them, but was trying to focus on the farm. Being around Rafael was… distracting.

This, however, was definitely a job for a man with a big hammer -ha! Pablo would have loved that. She laughed to herself at the innuendo, and tried to put all thoughts of Rafael, and his “big hammer” from her mind. Throwing the heavy stack of rocks back into her backpack, she started off to the blacksmiths.

When she arrived, Pablo was nowhere to be seen… of course, sometimes they split shifts when it was quiet, so they could each enjoy mornings and afternoons off, and she guessed he was in the tavern, or on a date, or causing trouble somewhere. Rafael was behind the counter rather than at the anvil for once, and seemed to be sketching out some kind of plan or design for a tool or weapon.

“Hey hero!” She called to Rafael as she entered, grinning at him. He had got used to her greeting him like that, although she never did it when Pablo was around. She had a feeling if he heard her say it, it would be utilised as brotherly torture, and Pablo tortured Rafael enough as it was; Rafael was very glad she kept it between them.

“Hi Rose,” he smiled, pushing his work to one side as she staggered towards the counter with her heavy bag, “what can I do for you?”

She tried to stop the thought that played instantly across her mind; oh, so many things you could do for me… but it was too quick. She felt the blush that seemed to just be a part of her seeing him rising again and tried to heave the bag onto the counter between them, hoping the crash would chase the thought away.

“Geodes!” She exclaimed with a mix of pride and excitement. “I tried to get them open myself but my hands are wrecked from working outside, and I just don’t have the skill.” He pulled the bag onto the counter, freeing her hands, and she turned them palm up for him to see.

“Can you believe I used to have decent hands?” She asked sadly, “I had really long nails, I used to get them done all the time… and rings! I had the most beautiful collection of rings in all shades of gold and green, but there’s just no point in wearing rings now.” She sighed, turning her hands in the light and examining the deep cracks in her palms.

“They’re still decent hands,” Rafael mumbled, nervous as ever about talking to her, and especially saying anything that came close to a compliment. “Just, a little… uhm… overworked.” He made a gesture that somehow combined half a shrug with half a smile. “That’s why I wear the gloves all the time now… My hands used to get wrecked from working in the forge all day. Charles gave me this great stuff for cracked hands though - hang on, I think I still have some of it upstairs!” He jumped from the seat and bounded lightly up the stairs behind him before she could say a word. Within a minute he was back, carrying a small jar that looked even smaller in his huge hands.

“Here, let me try it - it should help!” He reached a hand out for Rose to place hers into, all the usual awkwardness between them gone in a moment where he seemed unusually confident. She had seen this though; he could be as meek as a lamb, bashful and stammering, but give him a task he knew he could do and somehow that disappeared. He dabbed a finger in the sweet smelling mixture, then gently rubbed it into the cracks in Rose’s outstretched palm. It was kind of funny, how they were constantly aware of even the tiniest bit of physical contact between each other, but kept ending up in these oddly intimate moments of touch. Rose winced as he reached a particularly sore part. “Sorry,” he mumbled, embarrassment returning, going pink again, “but I’m sure it’ll help.” His movements were even gentler after that, slower too, barely touching her skin. She tried hard not to think about how his fingers felt on her hands, and tried even harder not to think how that would feel on any other part of her body. By now she knew her face had to be bright red, and with the hand he wasn’t treating she reached up to fiddle with her necklace.

“Sorry, am I, uhm…” he stopped and let go of her hand, glancing at her other hand on the necklace. She dropped it quickly, even more embarrassed that he had noticed her embarrassment. Sometimes she forgot that although she watched him, and knew lots of his little tells of nervousness, he could be watching her too.

“No, sorry. Nervous habit.” She smiled, praying the fact that the reddish light from the forge might cover up some of the blush.

“Didn’t mean to uhm… make you… uhm… nervous…” Rafael moved back, and put the lid on the jar, not meeting her eyes. “Take it with you, it’ll help.” He pushed the jar across the counter.

“Oh, no, you don’t, I mean, you didn’t…” she trailed off, annoyed that she had ruined such a tender moment between them. He just smiled kind of sadly without looking at her, and grabbed one arm with the other. Damn it!

“It feels better already!” She tried to lighten the tense atmosphere. “See, still a hero! Is there anything you can’t fix?” She laughed, and his face brightened a little, even as the blush continued on both of their faces.

He turned back to the bag “So, about these geodes…?” At his prompting, she slid the heavy bag back across the counter until they were in front of them both, and the geodes within clinked.

“You probably shouldn’t be carrying all that around,” he laughed, picking the extremely heavy bag up in one hand as if it was empty. Goddess, he was strong, as if she needed reminding. He carried it over to the anvil, where he plonked the bag down and gestured to it.

“Do you mind if I just…?” He waited for her response, but she seemed confused. “Uhm… Ma told me never to go in a ladies’ bag,” he laughed shyly, shrugging, realising how stupid it sounded in the circumstances.

Rose laughed in return, “Go ahead - not sure I count as much of a lady anyway! Did she also tell you to never ask a ladies’ age or weight too?” She teased, as she joined him at the anvil.

“Of course! Mama Sanchez raised gentlemen… uhm… well, one gentleman, and one Pablo!” They laughed together at that, and he reached into the bag for the first geode.

Rose enjoyed watching him deftly crack them open with just a tap of the hammer; both for the satisfaction of seeing them break open, and because seeing Rafael at work, in his element, was… well, a different kind of satisfying. He appraised each geode he cracked; lots of coal, a few empty rocks, and a few pretty gems too.

“This one is an emerald!” He exclaimed, showing her the inside, “a decent one too!”

“I love emeralds, they’ve always been my favourites,” she sighed, stroking the deep green stone. “But it’s off to the museum with this one. Maybe the next one I’ll keep, and learn to make jewellery with it or something!” She smiled and sighed a little sadly, adding “As if I’d ever find the time or the energy…”

“I like onyx best,” he said, thoughtfully. “Don’t know why, but I’ve always liked it.” He paused, as if considering something, before continuing “And uhm, if you get more emeralds I’ll give you a great price for them!” He looked enthusiastic, but with the usual hint of bashfulness too. Was that another blush on his neck, or was it the light? She shook the thought from her mind, and promised if she got anything the museum didn’t want he had first pick. Especially if he’d pay!

By the time he’d finished, she had a stack of semi-useful bits, and some gems for the museum. There had even been a second emerald, which Rafael had gladly bought from her for what she thought was probably more than he should have. The smile on his face when she handed it back to him confused her… she was sure it couldn’t be worth the amount of gold she’d been given, but hey, if he was happy, who cares, she needed the money! He carefully deposited the spoils back in her bag, which was thankfully a little lighter now, and she left for the museum feeling proud of all she’d gathered. She was just about to leave, when Rafael called her back, his neck pink with a blush that hadn’t quite reached his face yet. He had one arm holding the other again.

“Rose?”

She turned at the sound of his slightly nervous voice, and looked questioningly at him.

“Be uhm… careful, yeah? The mines are uhm… pretty dangerous, deeper down. Uhm…” the blush had reached his face now and was like a wildfire. “If you want me to uhm… come with you, uhm… so you can, you know, mine and I’ll… uhm…” he trailed off.

Beaming at his offer, her blush matching his, she replied “Rafael the hero, again,” she loved the way his face lit up when she called him that. “I’m not going too far at the moment anyway, I haven’t got the time or inclination to fight, but if I do, you’re my bodyguard, right?”

The blush had reached his ears as he nodded in wordless reply.

“Thanks again, hero!” She bounced out of the doorway, the pleasure from her finds outstripped by the pleasure of seeing him smile at her the way he did.

When she had gone, Rafael cleaned up the workshop, took a shower, and returned to the emerald. He wasn’t sure what he was thinking, when he had decided to buy it from her. He had a wild idea, that he could make something beautiful for her with it, if he could just work up the courage. The work itself would be easy, if a little more intricate than he was used to, but he wasn’t afraid of that. He blushed, despite being alone, at the thought of him handing her some beautiful jewel and her responding by throwing herself into his arms. Ridiculous. He’d barely known her, what, a month or two? Shaking his head, he figured he could always make it, and then… well, if he didn’t want to give it to her, he didn’t have to. He could sell it, or maybe give it anonymously, or get Pablo to do it, or… no, definitely not get Pablo to do it. Well, he had plenty of time to figure that out; what he had in mind would take weeks, probably months. Especially as he didn’t want to be caught working on it by Pablo or Rose. He took a sketch pad and the emerald up to the desk in his bedroom, shut the door behind him, and became instantly absorbed in sketching designs of golden honeybees resting on emerald leaves.

Trigger Warning: Violence

"Tear Apart My Face!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as I faced all my opposition. I summoned my spear and shield as the first of numerous imps attacked me. In my earbuds, War Machine by Dance Gavin Dance played.

I impaled the closet imp on my bayonet then launched him to the roof of the warehouse Artio and I were in. I bashed the next with my shield then followed that up with chasing the last one. when the last imp exited my effective close-quarters combat rang; I fired a shot from my blaster, and (as always) my aim was impeccable. I smiled as the blast lands and brings the imp to the ground. Artio and I cautiously approach the imp. The imp still reeling from the blast slid across the floor. "So who are you're bosses?" I asked the Imp. The Imp stared at me and screamed at me. I screamed back. it looked at me shocked. I laughed. "See it's not fun isn't it?" I asked, "Now use your words."

"You filthy vile blood abomination of Ape and True Thunder Dragon King. How dare you defile me with your hobbled-together arsenal." the imp said

"That's better but rude, besides you of all people should know people that look me are all running around with a "Hobbled together arsenal", but yet it was still more than enough to beat you and your friends," I replied defiantly. "So how about we skip the banter and tell me what I want to know and I won't humiliate you anymore. The Imp spat blood in my face. "Well, you asked for this." I spat back in the imp's face much to his shock.

"This one is quite defiant." Artio said.

I laughed before replying "Well I am as well." I turn to face Artio hesitantly, "Hey, Artio can you leave for a moment while I do my thing?" I ask

"Sure thing Tj" Artio answers

30 Minutes Later

"Okay, so the imps are working for their lord a higher demon named Bartimaeus. He is working for a sorcerer named Nathaniel although I think they biffed the name. regardless. The sorcerer is in Britain."

"Great let's go." my Gaelic Mentor said proudly. I shook my head

"Nope, This is the start of my Vacation," I said to Artio. She nodded remembering

"Right. I'll call Snake Eyes then. Enjoy. You're going to South Korea right?" Artio asked I nodded

"Yeah visiting my Super Hot CEO best friend. Astrid Wesker."

"If you're such good friends why doesn't she give you a job?"

"Because her job is super people-focused and not in my wheelhouse. so I made the executive choice not to make her look bad." I answered

"How noble." Artio teases

"I know right? besides what would you do without me." I joke

"I could get a lot more done without having to worry about babysitting an ADHD Autistic Man-Child whose special interests are Spandex Super Heroes, and a children's card game," Artio said

"Hurtful, but I 'm assuming that was a joke because you wouldn't have solved any of the mega cases I helped with?" I tease

"Oh! like what?" Artio inquires.

"The cryptid poachers, The ring of embers, The Lord of Wolves, The Emminent ones, and most recently the Drowned City," I answer resolutely.

"Oh right, I forgot about those. Please be careful, trouble seems to follow you wherever you go?" Artio states with a voice full of concern.

"Well, that's good then so I can prepare, as opposed to it being random. I hate randomness." I assert

"But love novelty?" Artio says.

"Exactly a delicate balance, But yeah. See you in Three weeks." I reply.

Getting a call from your best friend can either be liberating or terrible. For me it was somehow both. First she called me at 3 a.m. which was annoying as even though I was on my first day of vacation I had worked until almost 9:30 p.m. the previous day getting home even later. So the call was even more poorly timed. I woke up groggy and heard my friend ask if I could to her tower. “Sure but you owe me,” I responded and hung the call. I got showered and ready again before space sifting to in front of her tower. It was mid-evening when I got to her tower in South Korea. I walk into several stares from various faces. When I feel one of them linger too long after checking in with the lady in the front I turn to a face. (I pick one at random) “are we going to have a problem?” I catch eye contact with someone I wasn’t expecting to catch eye contact with. Siyeon of Dreamcatcher. This mistake was quickly rectified when Dami, Yooheyeon and Sua all approached me.

“What are you doing yelling at our member?” They questioned. I thought for long enough to craft an intelligent response.

“Oh I’m sorry I felt people were staring and wanted to address it by using one person. I didn’t know who it was going to be and it was accidentally y’all my apologies.” Sensing my sincerity in the moment Siyeon defused the situation. She followed this up by looking me up and down, and when she saw that I was wearing her jersey from their tour a while back she smirked. Before the others could notice Astrid came to my rescue.

“Tj you made it I’m so glad. Oh you’re already meeting with Dreamcatcher great. (Astrid turns to Dreamcatcher) He’s such a fan of you all can’t you tell I mean look at him. He’s even wearing one of your jerseys.” Astrid turns to me and points at me the rest of the members' eyes widen noticing my Siyeon Jersey.

“Ah wae,” Sua yells but before they can push forward with their chat Astrid whisks me away. On the ride up the elevator to Astrid makes a funny comment

“I get you don’t like stares but you’re very black and they have not seen many people who look like you so can you please have a bit more grace. Plus you came in armed with a That giant Blaster toy.”

I knew Astrid was teasing me as she knew the blaster wasn't a toy but still groaned at her assertion. I decided to address the higher concern, I turned to her incredulous and responded. “Do you have any idea how tired I am?”

Astrid laughed and said “It was only 3 a.m. when I woke you up. You’ll live.” I scowled towards her. “Oh please you go to sleep at like 7:30 most days you’re fine.”

“Most days you would be right except I was at work until 9 p.m. and had been in bed for 2 hours when you called.” I ramped into yelling. Astrid eyes widened, and before I could say anything else the elevator opened we walked out and forgot what we were yelling at each other for. It came back to me quickly but for Astrid not quick enough.

“So Tj remember how I wanted your take on a super girl group video series?”

I nod and ask the questions I cared about. “Who did you get?”

“Well Dreamcatcher, Le Sserafim, Eunbi Kwon, Hyewon, Minju Yuri, Nako, Yuri, Chaeyeon, Ive, Hitomi and Aespa,” Astrid Answered

“That’s pretty good. Almost half of Izone.” I replied

“No it's all of them, but I know right. I am sorry I couldn’t get Twice or any of the CLC girls. I wanted you to freak out.” Astrid apologized .

I shrugged and responded “This is completely fine. I was not in the position to ever meet any of these people. so I’ll take this as a win. Also How did you manage Dreamcatcher, and Aespa?” I said

“Yes that’s what I hoped to hear from my adaptable friend. To answer your question Dreamcatcher was the first because I knew you said they are super entertaining. SM didn't really care as they figured the money I threw at them was convincing enough .Now I need your help. I need your help with security for this event.” Astrid explained. I groan.

“Sure. Who is going to be the issue?” I ask knowing that’s what she wanted help with. as I walk into my friend’s office where I see Connor, Dexter ( for those who are reading in chronological order you would go to the following sections eager first year, Forbidden Friendship and Weaponize the monsters, as those flash in at this time and explain the situation to me) and Astrid’s siblings. I summon my great axe and ready a swing before Astrid gets in the way.

Astrid says “TJ stop there not here to hurt anyone.” I groan and quickly recant my agreement to help her. Astrid smiles to everyone in her office before closing the door. “Tj why did you do that?”

“You know why?” I scold

“Come on are you scared of my two siblings? Please Mr. I am the storm that weathered mountains.” Astrid teased

“Yes! Your siblings both have an independent set of D-Virus outbreaks and you want me to protect them? NO!! If this was your half-brother Jake that would be fine. He’s cool he helped me at BRIPE, but not those two. They have the worst traits of the Weskers and you’re letting them roam free? that’s just inviting a whole world of hurt. Besides do you know those other two?” Astrid shrugged and said “They’re just cameramen and directors Le Sserafim and Aespa swear by.” Astrid scoffs

“Wow I’m shocked you don’t recognize either of them. One of them is the reason your sister has no legs and the sole survivor of her outbreak. the other was a key witness against your brother for his.” The. Astrid looked at me in shock.

“How do you know that?” Astrid Questioned raising her voice

“Because I know everything.” I said “their faces were also plastered all over the news for weeks as well.” I added. My voice remained flat

A look of panic crept into Astrid’s eyes, “What should I do?” Astrid asked frantic

“Cancel the freaking event.” I said

“I can’t the investors already have paid for everything. We’re set to start filming the first half in Raccon city in two weeks.” I blinked three times.

“The first half is where?” I asked not wanting to believe what she just said. “The next thing you’re going to tell me is that tricell and umbrella are investors in this to fix their public image.” I joked calmly expecting a laugh. When I looked at Astrid and when she didn’t negate my statement I groaned. “Didn’t you see what happened at the Umbrella Gala? You were there.” I questioned

Astrid nodded and said in a raised voice “That’s why I hired Dexter and Connor.They protected us so well.” Astrid yelled

“Astrid I love you but you can’t be this stupid.” I say lovingly

“Hey rude.” Astrid retorts yelling

“I am sorry I am not the one who brought my two bio terrorist siblings to film a K-pop show.” I questioned

“That’s not what happened.” Astrid tried to justify

“Astrid literally nothing you say to me will make this better, but because I love you I’ll help but the moment things go wrong we wrap this up and everyone goes home safely.” I reply

“How do you know something will go wrong?” Astrid demanded

“Because I know everything.” I responded ”Also please keep in mind Mrs. Radames is still AWOL” I added . Astrid smiled seeing my care for her hand and her success

“I knew I could count on you TJ!” Astrid said giddy and kissed my cheek.

Astrid breaks her kiss and says“Thanks Tj you da best.” I nodded and began to walk out as I did Astrid beckoned me to come back to her. I turned around

“Here’s my business card go to the ramen place nearby show them the card and they’ll take care of you.” I nodded and started walking out. “I’d figured you’d be hungry.” Astrid added.

Well she was right I was hungry. I walked to the elevator and inside was a pretty girl a really nice pixie cut. She held a happy expression that was really infectious. My frustration quickly melted in her presence. I turned to the young lady and said “You’re super pretty.”

The young lady smiled,“Thank you.” The young lady said and before we could talk any further she left the elevator. A few seconds later my brain clicked who that person was and I was mad I only had the one dumb thing to say.

After that I took the elevator down the door opened and walked to the ramen place. At the lobby Siyeon was waiting for me. She smiled and asked politely if we could talk. I agreed and we headed to the ramen place. I was greeted by the pleasant smell of Soup while we waiting to be seated I chatted with Siyeon

“Where are your members?” I asked

“They went back to the dorm and I Stayed because wanted to talk to you.” Siyeon answered

“Why?” I asked a bit too skeptically in tone.

Siyeon gave me a pleasant smile and pointed to my mtg pin. “We got off on the wrong foot and wanted see if you’re a good person. Also I play magic the gathering and I’m curious about what you play.”

“Oh cool, but I’m not a good person though.” I replied. We were seated in a ramen shop soon after and ordered

“Sorry about earlier.” I addressed awkwardly. Siyeon shrugged it off

“No problem.” She said. I smiled and she did as well. “See a good person wouldn’t apologize.” Siyeon added. I shrugged as my reply. Siyeon smiled before furrowing her brow spacing out then coming back to the conversation mentally and asking me, “Can I ask why were you mad?”

I sighed as I explained “not mad just defensive. Because of this (I gestured to my dark skin) people always stared. Sometimes those stares turn into action most of the time they don’t. So I’d rather face that head on than cower in fear.”

Siyeon smiled cheerfully and replied, “Sounds tiresome.” I nodded

“You have no idea,” I said as our food came to us.

Despite me being almost positive she was not into guys, I was anxious. Siyeon noticed this and asked, “why do you shake?”

“Oh, you’re just one of my biggest K-pop crushes ya know,” I say nonchalantly. Siyeon looks at me surprised for a moment then smiles.

“I’m flattered but I’m I don’t like guys like that.” She said gracefully

I chuckled and said “I figured that but you can’t blame me with how stunning you are.”

Siyeon blushed with a smile. A few moments later she looked at my jersey again then asked “so you are insomnia right?” I nodded “Am I your bias?” Siyeon asked

I laughed and said “no that would be Dami. I love her she’s talented has a work ethic and a cool aura. You’re just the lovable, pretty, and … one of the most powerful vocalists I have ever heard.” I say. Siyeon laughs and flexes her arms

“Super powerful.” She says before breaking into giggles.

“Hey can I ask you a personal question?” I propose

“Yeah sure?”Siyeon assures me

Shaky I ask, “So who is your type at least right now?”

“Oh Kkura what about you?” Siyeon answered like a blushing schoolgirl.

“Well minus you not much else I generally like girls with short hair who are funny.” I say casually. Siyeon smirks knowingly “what?”I ask worried

Siyeon smiled, “No. Nothing” she said mischievously and cutely. The rest of the lunch was silent as Siyeon spent the rest of it texting on her phone smiling like a mad woman

We finish eating and she asks me if I can walk her home I nod. We talk about magic the gathering on the way home. She’s a commander player who loves grixis. Her current main deck is Evelyn the Covetous.

“What deck do you play?” She asked

“Oh uh I have a few decks I play consistently.” I answered

“What is your signature deck?” Siyeon asks

My eyes narrowed as I tried to think “Uh um woo that’s a tough one. I don’t think I have one right now. Most of the time I just play good stuff decks or Dragons. I do play a lot of green-blue x three color stuff.” I answered. Siyeon smiles and responds

“Can I help you build one then?” I give a thumbs up when we arrive at the dorm my bias of the group Dami stares at me with vicious fury. As Siyeon walks in I apologize to her and the rest of the group.

“Don’t grovel it’s unbecoming.” She said as I turned around to leave. I turned back around and said,

“Don’t confuse my remorse for groveling. I made a mistake I felt bad about it and wanted to apologize.” I said stretching to my full height. Dami’s dismal furious look turns into a bemused grin.

“I like you.” She said and that was it. I walked back to Astrid’s office. I was beaming. Thankfully (for my social avoidance) she was talking to dexter leaving Connor waiting outside. I sit next to Connor we’re silent before he says “I see you have a mtg pin. I assume you play Magic the Gathering?” Deciding to have some fun I respond in my most deadpan tone.

“Nope. I have no only play commander.” It took a few moments for Connor to process what he heard and then he starts laughing. We look at each other and I shrug. “What do you play?”

“Mostly commander as well jeskai. My current signature deck is Narset enlightened exile.” Connor relays

“Ah Magic’s favorite autistic kung fu auntie.” I joke. Connor looks at me confused “Wait you didn’t know she is canonically autistic?” I ask. Connor’s eyes widened and said “That’s hilarious I have to tell Dexter.”

“Oh is Dexter autistic?”

“Yeah he was diagnosed last year. I have ADHD and would watch content on social media about it. He saw a few videos on autism and related a bit too much, then got tested and so here we are. What about you?”

“Um sir that is deeply personal and offended you even asked that.” I bluffed when I saw Connor go pale with embarrassment and I responded “I’m just kidding. I’m audhd.” Connor relaxed and I said, “but yeah I mostly play Simic x decks.”

“Nice what’s your signature deck? Let me guess maelstrom wanderer.” Connor asks

“…you know you’re the second person to ask that today, but to answer your question I don’t have one as now.” I answered. Connor’s eyes widened

Connor nods before the door opens and Dexter walks out. He eyes me suspiciously. After the two of them leave I walk back into Astrid’s office. She was busy typing furiously on her computer “those two are going to be the end of me.” She said annoyed.

“Why what happened?” I asked confused.

“Dexter just gave his list of “demands” and they’re completely reasonable but they add a bunch of extra work for me.” Astrid explained

“What is reasonable in this context?” I ask

“Verification of staff, security for idols and guaranteed free time for idols presented.” Astrid answers

“ you didn’t do that?” I ask incredulous

“NO. I did most of it. I didn’t verify all the staff coming though but most of these are fringe girl groups not something like Blackpink or Twice.” Astrid justified

“Hey a celebrity is still a celebrity. I countered

“I hate that you’re right.” Astrid said

“I usually am.” I replied

The next few hours after our little chat were spent shoring up Dexter’s demands. I was exhausted from helping her and needed to go to sleep and or eat, which I became more vocal about, “Come on boss lady call it quits. You’ve worked hard enough today.” I said hoping to appeal to her more introverted traits.

“I have so much work to do for this event though.” Astrid complained I sigh I hate seeing my friend be so discouraged and stressed.

“Would you like any help?” I ask.

“Oh God yes. Can you help me? You know more about k-pop then I do” I nod as I sit next to my friend and fight sleep’s clawing embrace while I help her.

While sitting next to my diligent friend I decided to tease her.

“Can I make a demand?” I ask innocently

“Ugh not you too. What do you want?” Astrid scowls then stares at me.

“Instead of getting paid can I get a Porsche?” I ask teasingly

“Absolutely not. You won’t be doing enough work for me to justify the expense.” Astrid scolds still not realizing I wasn’t being serious.

“You say that now, but I know there’s going to be hang ups and I’m going to have to be the one that solves them.” I joke

“That may be the case but if everything goes to schedule you might be able to pay off that Kia.” Astrid said. I laugh knowing nothing is going to go right for this shoot.

Eventually we end up at her penthouse. She leads me to a guest room where I can finally rest and refresh.

“Oh yeah I forget you’re super rich.” I say cheeky. Astrid smirks

“Yeah, but I’m still not getting you that Porsche.” Astrid replies

“It was a joke.” I replied flatly

“Please I know if bought you a Porsche you would froth at the mouth in joy” she teased

I woke up the next day to a text from two numbers one I didn’t recognize and the other was from Astrid.

“Hey come to our dorm and bring one of your decks.” The unknown number text read.

The other text from Astrid read, “enjoy your only day off your vacation because starting tomorrow you’re all mine buddy. We have so much work to do and I’m going to need the dependable Mr Tj tomorrow.” I groaned but quickly got over it. I was in a beautiful city and had a day to myself at least. I did need to address payment with Astrid because while looking at pretty girls all day is appealing I could easily do that for free, but that’s another concern for a later time. I shower and get ready after finishing up I get ready to head out. Before I can leave however Astrid’s brother and sister look at me. I wasn’t expecting to see them and expecting much less for them to say “where you going?” The youngest of the siblings say.

I look at them confused “I have a date I think?”

“A date?” Astrid’s sister said questioningly

“Yeah although it’s probably not I’m just calling it that because I don’t have a better term for it right now, and don’t want to say I’m going to hang out with a friend or two in an intimate fashion to get closer.”

Astrid’s brother laughed, and replied “I have never heard a date described so accurately but so alien either.”

The two sibling laugh and then the older male asks “can we come?” I know in my brain that’s a bad idea for several reasons but seeing the sincerity in their eyes I respond much kinder than I normally would have given the circumstances,

“Do you guys like magic the gathering ? because I am pretty sure that is going to dominate the conversation.” Both vehemently shake their heads. I sigh and say “then I don’t think that you all coming would be a good fit.” The duo looked genuinely sad and for a moment I forgot that they had body counts the size of cities and apologized. I walked out of the penthouse towards the dorm and the entire time I asked myself why did I feel bad for them. They were evil, but what made me so different from them this thought would continue to weigh on me my entire walk to the dorm when I arrived Connor and Dexter were there along with the rest of the dreamcatcher girls, the le sserafim, and Aespa girls. I sat at a table that was towards the edge of the group. They were all chatting about various things slipping in and out of both English and Korean. I sat there and watched with a smile. I didn’t feel comfortable in my Korean to contribute so I watched from my little corner everyone chatting. Eventually Connor and Yoohyeon turned to me.

“Why are you so quiet Tj?” Yoohyeon asked. I shrugged. Dexter furrowed his brows as he stared at me.

“Stop being on the edge then come on in and join us.” He said warmly. I got up and nodded “Siyeon was just telling us about your little date yesterday.” Dexter adds with an amused smile. My eyes narrowed towards Siyeon who currently busy whispering with Sakura

“What did she say?” I ask hesitantly

“Not much besides the fact you also play commander and you don’t have a signature deck.” Sakura says shocked. I breathed a sigh of relief

“Do all of you play mtg?” I ask. Connor, Dexter Karina, Giselle, Dami, Siyeon, Sakura Yunjin, Chaewon.“Do y’all want to get a game in?” I asked reflexively before I even knew what I was signing up for. Everyone nodded. I groaned realizing I was in for a confirmed 8 player game, but I couldn’t say no to a competition. I space sifted and grabbed one of my decks from my apartment and my Dreamcatcher playmat. All of the people present look at me in surprise.

“How did you do that?” Winter asked.

“Oh it’s an old Domitian magic trick my superior taught me. I just told space on itself to cut distance into nothing” I explained.

“Oh like my displacement door.” Dexter said

“Um kinda it’s more like looking at a map and folding it to make the drive be smaller, and not making to spatial anchor points for instant travel.” I explained the group nods and marveled as I walked over to the table. I laugh when the pair me with Chaewon.

“So what power level are we playing at?” I ask

“High power.” Giselle answers with a clear smile.

I nod and take out first sliver food chain. “Oh that art is so sick. Dexter says noticing my secret lair art.

When I unfurled my playmat Siyeon got one glimpse and the said “I want that.” I laughed and sighed before giving her the playmat. She smiled with the largest one I have seen yet.

I bring up another playmat…my Kamen Rider ooo one to which Sakura says “oh you like Kamen Rider?”

Forgetting that I’m essentially meeting her for the first time I scoff and say, “I love Kamen Rider.” Sakura laughs at this while Connor and Dexter look at me with displeasure.

“What.” I exclaimed Connor responded

“You could have said that nicer. You just met her today.” As my brain processed the scenario my mouth followed

“Holy crap you’re right. It only feels like I’ve known y’all forever but we just met today. Sakura I’m sorry for my rude outburst.”

Sakura smirked, “it’s fine. I like meeting someone who isn’t star struck.” She said

“… I’m star shocked. My brain can’t process what’s going on right now so it’s just doing its best to keep me normal because this is one of the insane days of my life.” I explained

Everyone laughed as we started, Dami handed me back my deck after cutting it I paused for a moment it was a perfect starting hand to turbo out the win since I was going first I wonder if I should go for it. Seeing my first draw confirms it.

“Bayou, mana crypt chrome mox, squee the eternal imprint, exile elvish spirit guide, dark ritual, food chain?” The table looks at me stunned. Except Dexter he goes for a force of negation which I respond with a pact of negation.”

“Yo anyone got anything else if not then he just wins.” Dexter asks

“Wait how.” Sakura asked shocked and confused

“He casts squee from exile infinite times,” Connor explains

Chaewon nods and attempts to play force of will on my food chain…I turn to her and say “Chaewon…we are on the same team.” Chaewon blinks twice then remembers

“Oh right.” And with that, we won then and there. Chaewon Smiled at me with an adorable toothy visage.

What are your OCs most petty pet peeves? The one thing that really shouldn't annoy them, but somehow it just drives them up the wall?

Rae: She knows they're just trying to help, but... when she's in a foreign country to learn a language, and the locals hear her struggle with the new language and end up switching to English. It's a nice thought, but she's there to learn and switching to English means she doesn't get experience with the new language

Robin: I don't know how petty this is since it's really a legitimate concern... but people who learn she reads lips and proceed to over-enunciate and speak at glacial speeds, which is just harder to make sense of.

Madison: Cannot stand people taking her food. She does not share food. She will make food for others, she loves to bake and give out treats, but there's no "can I have one of your fries?" or "you can try a bite of mine if I try a bite of yours". She knows it's silly, but she was food-insecure for a lot of years while living out in the woods, so she can't bring herself to surrender any part of a meal.

Ophelia: She gets annoyed with how often the news tries to rebrand her as "the new Doc Ock" - she avoided that mantle out of respect to her father, her hero name is Argonaut and has never been Doc Ock, but it's hard to keep the news from using it to stir up drama.

Jasper: Used to get really annoyed at people's reactions to their natural Cajun accent, even to the point that they dropped the accent most of the time - you're in New Orleans, people, you're going to hear some Cajun folks! And their accent does not make them any less professional than people with a more Northern accent!

Katherine: Generally, a lot of typical artist's pet peeves related to her sketchbook - don't ask her to draw you, don't flip through her sketchbook when she's showing off one drawing, don't look over her shoulder while she's working... art is a very personal, intimate thing, and a lot of people don't understand that.

Quinn: People correcting her when she mixes her metaphors - it's a running joke with Billy, but irritating when it comes from anyone else. That, or people going out of their way to "accommodate her" in a way that just becomes pushy, and less helpful than just leaving her alone.

Kestrel: It doesn't happen often, but people making up Latin names for flora and fauna just to sound intelligent. Mixing up a few similar-looking species (eg. Falco sparverius vs. Falco femoralis) is an honest mistake, but they've run into people who will straight-up make up lies on the spot just to impress their friends, and it really grates on them.

Eris: It's hard to seriously annoy them, since they really thrive on conflict, but I think they get really tired of people being ignorant about regionalities and the history of land - the Middle East is not just one big patch of desert, neither is Africa, they have distinct regional climates and cultures and it's rude to assume they're all the same. Eris in particular has been mistaken for just about every ethnicity under the sun, with how ambiguous and "cradle of civilization" they (as an immortal) look, so they've experienced this from a lot of different angles.

Nikoletta: Any sort of hovering, or people who invade her personal space. Even if they don't actually touch her, and even if she doesn't have to be cautious about her shadow-touch, it makes her anxious and uncomfortable - and especially if they're standing behind her and she can't quite see them. She even asks Abner to stand behind her when they're out somewhere (like waiting in line at a coffee shop), because she gets so uncomfortable with strangers being right behind her.

(I know most of these are like... actually legitimate things to be annoyed about, but it's hard to think of tiny petty things to have as pet peeves and have it still be interesting)

having Big Thoughts about the way Normal has slipped to “i don’t know why they [my family] hate me so much”

like. when Sparrow admits that he’s not proud of Normal, he also says how much he loves him, and how his disappointment comes from fear. the love is just as true as the disappointment! Sparrow’s spilling his deepest most private thoughts, he is not capable of lying at that point! but that didn’t stick with normal, because of course it didn’t. 

and i think it’s so brilliant and true-to-life for only the negative parts of that interaction to stick with normal. the bad stuff people say always sticks more! and normal is a kid who’s been in survival mode 24/7 for weeks now, he’s not in the sort of place where he can think rationally about what his dad said & why. like of course he thinks sparrow hates him.

i think what’s even more interesting is that Normal feels like the rest of his family hates him as well!!! the interaction with Hero that we witnessed was pretty brief, but he didn’t seem upset by it. he was annoyed with his mom in the debate, but he also knew there were doodler-y reasons beyond her control that explained why she was so unhelpful. and Lark has gone out of his way to try and comfort and support Normal more than once– trying to shut Sparrow up at the dance, disguising himself as Sparrow at Papa John’s!! Lark cares about him so much!!

but Normal doesnt see any of that! Normal feels like his dad hates him, and has secretly hated him for years– maybe his whole life. and that fear just spills outward, until he reaches the conclusion that his mom and his sister and his uncle must hate him too, that they must all be hiding their disappointment in order to spare his feelings.

i really want to know how Normal’s relationships with his family were before episode 1. did he always feel a little bit of distance? was he always trying to gain the approval that he could somehow feel he didn’t already have? has he ever met Henry, or Mercedes, or Autumn? does he think that they hate him too?

Brittany's president storyline

yeah,,, this is just awful, brittany is really rude and disrespectful towards Kurt but for some reason kurt apologises and has to make amends even though Brittany was so clearly in the wrong, then brittany makes some girl power point and tells the guy she told to be embarrassed about taking his shirt off that it's bullying to call her an idiot for believing in leprechauns, she makes some big issue over how underestimated she is, then proceeds to prove why she was so underestimated in the first place by pledging to ban hurricanes and taking her shirt off on Tuesdays, also some fucking dino themed prom... I hate it here

2. Santana's coming out

the writers did not put an ounce of thought into this, the guy that outed her is somehow the hero?? and the one scene in which Santana takes autonomy and comes out to her peers herself is cut from the episode??? also her coming out to her grandma, although naya is amazing in the scene, is just so out of place, the only time we hear about Santana's grandma prior to this is santana talking about her grandma verbally abusing her, and there's no mention of how the negative reaction from her grandma impacted santana, it's honestly like they forgot it until s6 (which is a dogshit season overall)

3. Rachel bombing her audition

this storyline would be fine if Rachel didn't get into nyada at the end, but her fucking her audition up, being immature and harrasing the dean is rewarded in the end which is just annoying. I understand that Rachel is an extreme person so it's not bad writing that she would act like that after failing an audition it's just shit that she get's rewarded for it

4. the troubletones

an arc where under appreciated glee club members stand up for themselves and get what they deserve??? no,, but what they do have is Santana calling finn fat and brittany joining because santana tricked her into thinking leprechaun asked her to, honestly didn't give a flying fuck if they won or not by the end.

5. Quinn's overall arc

the whole pregnancy thing just took up too much time when I wished s1 focused more on the outcast kids than it did Quinn, the pretty popular girl, but I would be fine with Quinn's arc if it ended at the end of s3, but alas it didn't and I needed to experience s4-6 Quinn. 'I do' is a fun episode but it's unfortunately a gem amongst shit rather than a representative of Quinn. her character goes around in circles to an annoying point, every 5 minutes she comes to the realisation that defining by herself isn't great but proceeds to define herself by more men, then cries when the men she's only using for status/money actually don't really love her.

s2 klaine

listen, I find the over glorification of s2 klaine compared to other seasons a bit annoying,,, but s2 klaine just hits man,, the fact that they're besties and so clearly in love with each other but their relationship naturally grows from being best friends to boyfriends throughout the course of the season is just so amazing to watch

2. Mercedes path to being a singer

Mercedes was unfortunately so often delegated to being the supporting character for other people's storyline but even though this storyline deserved more, I loved what we did see, mercedes is clearly a strong person who stands for what she wants and is empowered by it, she doesn't let knockbacks stop her from achieving her dreams and it shows a side to her character that we hadn't see before.

3. Kitty's overall arc

yeah this girl is an absolute evil bitch, but it's interesting to watch a character who actually leans into being an awful person instead of trying to justify it with some tragic backstory, yeah the storyline acknowledges kitty's background and how it may affect it her, but they never act like it completely overrides her behaviour, and it's really nice seeing how she changed and actually enjoyed being in the glee club

4. Kurt's coming out

I think this is a really well built up storyline, we understand kurt and we see how much he wants to be accepted by his father and the lengths he will go to get that, we also understand burt and the type of guy he is,, this build up to the tension to Kurt's coming out moment is done in a really nice way that just makes it so satisfying when we get that moment of kurt telling his dad he's gay and his dad does accept him, and I also like that his dad's acceptance isn't completely perfect but it feels authentic.

5. Santana in s4/5B

Santana just really comes into her own and blossoms at these points for me, she isn't just the petty his school cheerleader, she's caring, even if it's expressed in unconventional ways, and she has personal ambition and we see her actually work towards it,, this overall just feels like the perfect progression of high school santana, like it's the most clear and perfect upgrade that we see s6 doesn't exist in this household

I can admit that even the ones I hate the most can have interesting plots as much as I might hate to say it, because a lot of the things that don’t make sense about a character are a direct fault of the writers and maybe even the higher-ups in N*tflix, given that they’re usually extremely out of touch with reality and can oversee or think that something that’s fucked up in real life (like thinking grooming a teenager is fine and/or sexy) is normal/logical or that people are going to think it’s normal as well; hell, if they hadn’t gone down that path with Karen she would’ve been one of my favorite characters but as it stands I can only say that I like my faves because they can have complex, imperfect stories, and as for other characters, I can handpick little things here and there that interest me even if I hate those characters.

I was way too upset last night to even gather my thoughts, but I hated it. In fact, I pretty much hated the entirety of season four, sans very few things - I was really hoping they were going to pull, it together. But they didn’t, everything went to hell, for no reason and with no reason. It’s like the entire season was written by a six year old.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Nothing made sense, and everything was just random and trying too hard to be edgy and “dark,” and have shock value, and it just fell flat. Every character who was already established felt hallow and watered down into one trait. Mike, the kid who jumped off a cliff and went digging for the upside down to find his friend is now so self absorbed and insufferable he didn’t even notice the friend he went to the fucking upside down to save sobbing his eyes out less than two feet away.

Nancy, Steve, and Johnathons weird little triangle was never cute and they somehow made it worse. Nancy is so fucking irritating and they’re trying so hard to make her into this “strong independent woman who don’t need no man” trope and yet she’s stringing not one but two vulnerable men along for what, three seasons now? Her relationship with Steve was at least compelling and complex, and I don’t blame HIM for still having feelings (though, I really do think he was still OOC for half of season four), her relationship with Jonathan makes little sense and actually hasn’t brought anything other than a shitty love triangle to the story line. It doesn’t progress any of the characters, it doesn’t even regress. It’s been in the same stupid high school bullshit spot since season two.

Jonathan brought absolutely nothing to the season other than being a doorway for Argyle to show up and even then his arc is about as interesting and believable as anything else. He was never a particularly strong character but we got absolutely no context as to why he went from man of the house, standing up to his abusive father and going into the upside down to… burnout stoner that brings nothing to the story other than the fact he can drive? They could have cut every scene with Johnathon and the story could have continued forward as-is, unchanged, and quite honestly none of us would have noticed he was gone.

El has gotten consistently more annoying, I can honestly say I hate her. The character is flat, I dislike this Stoic Trauma thing they have going and I know that’s the writing because Millie is a phenomenal actor. Her relationships are just weird, they’re unrealistic and make no sense, and they’re doing a carbon fucking copy of the Steve/Nancy/Jonathan triangle with El/Mike/Will and it’s not even compelling to watch it’s just irritating. They spent what, two or three entire episodes at minimum delving into her backstory with Papa, and it did absolutely nothing to make me feel a damn thing. I don’t feel bad for her, I don’t feel a damn thing towards Dr. Brenner, his death was unsatisfactory and dull. I felt literally nothing towards either of these characters the entire season. I did enjoy the “twist” with Henry, (even though I saw it the very first time he talked to El in the rainbow room, I see what they were going fo) but they ruined it immediately, and the “epic battle” between her and Henry at the end was just about the lamest fucking thing I’ve ever had the displeasure of watching. He’s floating, gets thrown. She’s floating, gets flown. She’s tied up. He’s tied up. He’s lecturing her and she’s crying. Wow. Amazing, I’m very invested.

They did Eddie dirty. He was OOC for the entirety of the finale, and his hero moment not only didn’t make sense, it was flat out insulting. The way they wrote him in was literally JUST to be disposable, had Eddie not been in the show at all, everything could have played out exactly the same and the story would have ended the same way. They brought him to the table, made us all fall in love with him, made it seem like he was going to have purpose and he didn’t. He was written to die at shock value. The reason and way he died was insulting. It’s not even the fact he died that’s bothering me, yes, I’m very upset, but it was _for no reason_. It didn’t make sense. That wasn’t Eddie. Eddie wouldn’t have done that. “There’s no shame in running” -> “I didn’t run this time, right?” ????? It’s also… so you’re telling me, Steve can be eaten alive and choked nearly unconscious and not only survive but go to war with two pounds of flesh missing from his stomach but … It happens to Eddie, while he has weapons, a shield, and three layers of clothing which includes a leather jacket and he… dies from it?

The two day time-jump was arguably the worst piece of shit lazy writing bullshit I’ve ever seen. And the fact no one even cared that Eddie died, they left his fucking body in the upside down? They just… don’t care? At least the other side characters that died (Alexi, Bob, Billy) died with purpose and had an impact. They literally just brought Eddie in and had him die in vain and I feel betrayed.

Max and Will were the only characters who’s development made any fucking sense and even then I have to reach deeper and look into their trauma and psyche MYSELF to make a lot of it make sense. They were absolutely queer baiting with both Eddie and Will, and I am absolutely livid they brought Max “back to life.”

Lazy.

They had over twelve consecutive hours for season four to tie it all together and they just. Failed. It was awful. I didn’t enjoy any of it and I don’t think I’m going to watch season five. I feel like I had a rug pulled out from under my feet, and I’m hurt. I’m really hurt.

I feel almost bad whining about it to this degree but. I don’t… I don’t find things I like often, not to this level. I don’t hop from fixation to fixation. I don’t absorb a ton of media, and the media I do absorb usually doesn’t hit hard enough for me to latch so when I latch, I fucking _latch_. I didn’t enjoy the last four episodes much at all, aside for 5 seconds here and there when there’s corny comedic relief, and it’s just like. What the fuck? You know?

I could go on for hours, honestly. But I’m so mentally and physically exhausted from being so upset about this I just can’t dedicate any more energy to it. It was bad. It was awful and terrible and hard to watch and I didn’t even have a good time.

is their any possibility of romantic jonrice happening?

As I said the other day, before S7 I never saw them as a future/eventual romantic couple. If I have some doubts, they come from the show only.

But even in the show, many viewers have made their cases for the romance to be a show invention, and their takes are very convincing.

For me show jonerice (the only one that exists) was Jon/Ygritte 2.0 (see here & here), and that will never be a good omen. D&D copied a lot from Jon/Ygritte scenes and repeated them for jonerice. But they also copied from other canon couples. For example, boat sex is more from Theon and the captain’s daughter (power imbalance/notcon) than from Sam and Gilly; the drawings in the caves at Dragonstone from Arianne Martell and Daemon Sand TWOW scene. So yeah show jonerice was really all made up by D&D taking things from here and there.

Also, take a look at how D&D and Kit Harington described jonerice romance:

D&D presented jonerice as the cliche "boy meets girl, they hate each other at first, but they are going to end together." And this is a thing that GRRM really hates and he would never do, because it's boring an predictable:

I love historical fiction, I also love History, I read a lot of popular History, and the one problem that I have when I read historical fiction is that I know how it’s going to come out, I know the ending. When I read about the Wars of the Roses, which has been one of the inspirations on it, I know what’s going to happen to those two princes in the tower, I know who’s going to win the Battle of Towton, who’s going to win the Battle of Bosworth field. I don’t want my readers to know how it’s going to come out, I like the freedom of being able to draw on History and use it as a building block, but to rearrange it and to change it, and to produce something that’s unpredictable, because ever since I was a small child and first watching television or reading books and going to the movies, I’ve always hated predictable ones, that the movie or the book that you read the first chapter and you know exactly how it’s going to come out. Here’s the hero and here’s the heroine, they hate each other right now but at the end they will be together; here’s the villain, he’s going to die before the end even though he seems everything, it’s all very neat and it’s all very boring, books like that bore me, I don’t want my books to be boring, I want to keep the reader on an edge, I want to keep the reader saying: Who’s going to win this battle? Who’s gonna be the king when this is all over? That to me is much more interesting, so I try to combine the best of historical fiction and the best of History, drawn on the great incidents there but make them my own.
