Regulus: *writing poems*
Sirius: Are you writing sad boi poetry again? Just talk to him!
Regulus: You told me yesterday to not talk to him.
Sirius: Well now you’re writing sad boi poetry so I take it back!
Regulus: It’s not sad boi poetry, it’s literature. Leave me alone.
Sirius: That’s what someone who is writing sad boi poetry would say.

Regulus, after watching Sirius and James beat the shit out of Snape for insulting him: can you two just control some of your urges?
James:
Sirius:
James: the urge to punch people who are mean to you is most of our urges.

The black brothers tragedy is not that “sirius abandoned regulus”.
It’s that they were put against each other their whole lives and the love was always conditional and limited, which means that they both felt like if one of them had the love from their parents, the other one wouldn’t have it (because it was true).
They both craved it immensely (yes, even sirius at some point, every child craves their parent’s love) and yet having it meant the other one wouldn’t have it - not a conscious process of thinking, just how things were.
And at the same time this was happening, they loved each other immensely. They only had each other for a decade, they cared for each other more than anything.
Their story is a tragedy not because one of them “abandoned” the other or “didn’t take care” of the other. But because their relationship is a mix of pure love and resentment, jealousy and empathy, and disappointment and blind faith :)

a little continuation on my previous post.
in a little "what if", Ron decided to send a letter, tell Percy what Umbridge did to Harry in detention and sent proof (a photo of Harry's craved hand)
Percy reads it once, sets down the letter slowly and then decided "nope, time to overthrow this fucking circus to ministry and throw that hag in prison"
next thing Arthur hears is that Percy decked Fudge in the face, let the newspapers print out all his sketchy affairs with proof. it's the scandal of the decade, a massive headache for the auror department, the toad got arrested for "physical abuse, torture of a minor and possession of a Dark object" and the public loudly demands that Percy takes over as minister
Arthur fears it's the Black Family Madness™
Molly is so scared that Percy is gonna get thrown into jail or worse
Bill and Charlie has One Fear™, that is Percival Ignatius Weasley
Sirius laughs at everything and finds this utterly hilarious
Fred, George and Ginny try to understand what is going on and wonders if Percy has finally lost it
Hermione is speechless for the first time
Harry is just :o
Ron doesn't know what to do, all he wanted to do was to throw some shit in Percy's face. he didn't expect him to go Big Brother Mode and fix everything again.
Percy: *sips on tea* and that was that Tuesday. wonder what I'll do next week.
Percy Weasley: overthrows sadistic teacher, corrupt politician and the whole ministry in one day.
what an icon.

Imagine being such close besties with someone that your entire world knows about it. Just. Sirius Black and James Potter being so close that literally nobody questions that Sirius was the Potters’ Secret Keeper, even when he immediately went after Peter in a very public way, instead of laying low like any sane person would do after they were just revealed a traitor and their precious Lord died (although, they did think Sirius went mad, so it makes sense in a way). But of everyone in the Order, no one once questioned the Potters making Sirius their Secret Keeper, despite his prejudiced family, despite the Prank, despite any number of ways in which Sirius wasn’t perfect. Everyone in the Wizarding World still saw Sirius and James, and thought, “yeah, there’s no way it was anyone else, even if the betrayal makes their friendship seem so much less deep”. There was no reason for Remus to question it because he watched James and Sirius be the best of friends for a decade, he knew Sirius was Harry’s godfather, he knew James would have trusted no one more, that Lily loved Sirius and thought the world of him. There really was no other choice for the Potters, to anyone.
Which makes Peter being Secret Keeper that much more awful because it was such a genius move! Sirius was actually so smart to try this twist, to suggest making Peter the Secret Keeper. He knew everyone knew how close him and James were, how close he’d always been to the Potter family, he knew they’d come after him and Sirius would’ve DIED rather than betray his friends, his godson. He would’ve died to protect Peter too, so that nobody would know who the Secret Keeper really was. There was no reason to suspect Peter when there was Sirius Black, known Death Eater hater and unendingly loyal to his friends, RIGHT THERE. If Sirius really HAD died, he would’ve gone out thinking his friends would still be safe bc once Voldemort discovered he wasn’t the Secret Keeper, it would’ve jumped to Remus or even an older Light member like Moody or Dumbledore. Sirius damned himself knowingly, before ever finding out that Peter had gotten the Potters killed.
Sometimes I think about how Sirius managed to convince James and Lily to use Peter instead of him. They both must’ve known that Sirius would be killed immediately once it was determined that he didn’t know the Secret, so Sirius must have used Harry against them, said that they needed to do ANYTHING to keep their little boy safe, even if it meant Sirius offering himself up as a target, a sacrifice for their safety. Sirius must have thought he was so smart, because he found a way to keep his friends and godson safe, even though he wasn’t the Secret Keeper, and he didn’t put them at risk by trusting “potential spy: Remus Lupin”. He must have argued with James and Lily for ages about it, convincing them that it was the right decision, some misdirection to keep them safer for longer, another line of defense between their little Harry and the monster who wanted to destroy him.
It’s already wild to me that Sirius even held enough power/voice in this discussion to even suggest Peter as Secret Keeper. Like, the level of trust James and Lily must’ve had in him, to entrust their lives AND their son’s in Sirius’ plan? Nobody can ever say that Sirius wasn’t loved and trusted to the ends of the earth by James and Lily. They wanted HIM because there was nobody they trusted more, even with how reckless Sirius is shown to be, even years later. Trying to imagine Sirius in Azkaban all those years, knowing he basically handed his best friends over to Voldemort with that plan? Hell on earth, literally. He speaks on it maybe once to Harry in the entirety of the series, and it’s so clear that he is completely derisive about the plan. He despises the fact that it was his plan that got his best friends killed, that caused Harry to lose his parents. He blames himself (and Peter), but he had over a decade to sit in prison and think about the what ifs of that plan, to remember that it was his idea that killed James and Lily.

I just think that Sirius would LOVE making "are you serious?" "yeah, that's my name" jokes ALL THE TIME. No one could use that phrase without getting a smirk from Sirius. And that's the tea.

sirius and regulus run away AU but make it moonwater/moonseeker
they do go to the potters and sirius immediately fits in, they're a family of eccentric extroverts and that's exactly the kind of people sirius adores - regulus doesn't, though. he still has hang ups about james, euphemia is Amazing but he's truly not comfortable with her expansive nature and fleamont is just barely better.
anyway remus stays for a bit during summer and the plan is to bring him home (the lupins dont have a floo connection) and stay for dinner there. except. hope is immediately enamoured with the tiny, sarcastic teenager standing moodily behind his older brother - reg is quiet and looking at the bookcases more than at them but still managing to snark and jokingly insult the others in a way that makes her genuinely laugh. and remus is so clearly fond of him, the two of them going back and forth easily.
and regulus likes her too - hope is warm but quiet, motherly but in a subtle way. and lyall is gruff and clearly doesn't know what to do with all these teenagers but he still looks at his family with love even if he doesn't know how to show it. they're a little broken, a little less clean and polished than the potters are. and regulus likes it that way, prefers their quaint little home (with the yellow paint peeling off of the old wooden front door) to the splendour of potter manor.
he visits often, during that summer. until he's pretty much only going back for sirius (living without his brother, even after everything, would be too unnatural) because he's got his own bed at the lupins', his own bookcase and space in remus' closet.
(sirius knows his younger brother. he pushes reg to accept the offer of staying over more often, even if it feels weird to have breakfast without him outside of hogwarts. he stays at the lupins' himself, as much as he can, just to give reg more opportunities. sirius has a mother in euphemia, regulus wont let himself admit the same about hope.
sirius has only ever wanted happiness, for his little brother. he wont let regulus give up on it for his sake. )
this is all to say: reg at home with the lupins, building a close friendship with remus and falling in love with him through late night talks and mornings spent together and long nights crying softly under the light of the full moon - hope has two sons now, both happier than they've ever been. lyall watching his wife and son welcome another boy into the family is exactly the kind of shock he needs to start proving that he can be part of it too. remus and regulus being loved and loving in return. life has never been so good.

The King (Conan Gray) wolfstar au is suchhhhh a good idea omg
Sirius who's been going through so many girls that it's actually quite alarming, Sirius claims they go on actual dates and that it's an actual relationship each time, but they hardly last more than two months, minus Mary who had been dating Sirius for five before she broke up with him. Sirius comes back to the dorm, whining about how no one ever feels right, and that they all suck anyways. But it's always Remus who he complains to. Remus with his small smile and warm brown eyes, and the way he always pets Sirius' head when he grumbles and whines. Nothing could be better.
Remus who has always had a thing for Sirius, who was devastated when Sirius started getting around until he realized that at the end of the day, at the end of each relationship, Sirius went to him. Sirius crawled into his bed. Sirius wanted to be comforted by him. Not James, not Peter, not the next girl he had set his eyes on, but him. And that made him feel amazing, in some probably horrible way. That despite how many hearts Sirius breaks, despite how many other lips his had touched, he was always who Sirius came back to in the end.
He just wished that maybe there could be more.

On the topic of Regulus' patronus, since I won't let this die until I see it in a fic even if I have to write it myself.
Regulus: Why can't I get this bloody charm to work
Remus: Happy thoughts, Reg. Happy thoughts.
Regulus: What part of my upbringing gave you the illusion I have those?
Remus: Happy. Thoughts
Peter: Think like that fairy! Tonker Bells!
Remus: Tinker Bell. Purebloods.
Regulus: Could you two stop arguing over muggle cartoons so I can focus!
Regulus: Expecto Patronum!
Sirius: Bloody hell Reggie, is that a lion?
Regulus: Oh.
James: Oh.
Remus: He's beautiful Reg, what are you going to name him?
Regulus: Helios
Sirius: You're going to name your patronus after the sun?
Regulus: It keeps to the family theme doesn't it?
Sirius: Mother would have a fit. Looks like both her sons are more Gryffindor than Black. This is bloody brilliant! Told you Reggie, you should've been sorted into Gryffindor!
James: I think his patronus is perfect for him.
Regulus: I think so too.

I need more “supportive Sirius Black” jegulus fanfics, like, I want Sirius to be the one to realize they are perfect for each other and be actively trying to get them together.
Sirius: I just wish my brother could fall for someone good, who loves him deeply and fiercely, someone who appreciates his humor, like, even when he is mean
James: *Being his sunshine self out loud in the great hall*
Remus: *watching Sirius mind working* Sirius don’t
Sirius: Sirius yes!

When Regulus comes out to his sibling as a trans man he gives all his skirts and dresses to Sirius, who is confused at first, but keeps them. Three months, and a lot of research later, Sirius comes out as gender fluid and wears Regulus’ old skirts and dresses because their baby brother knows them more than anyone else, including their style.

Morgan light of my day, warmth of my life, pulse to my heartbeat, i have a sirius question.
If regulus was a changeling, and sirius found out, what would sirius do?
Look for his missing brother? Keep the one he raised? Kill the fae child that took his brother?
What happens when baby regulus, who was raised by the fae, finds his way back home?
WHO gets to keep the name regulus?
HOLY SHIT EXCELLENT QUESTION SASHA, LIGHT OF MY LIFE AND REASON FOR BREATHING!!!
So I’m think Sirius’ immediate reaction is going to be he needs to find HIS brother and pushing away poor fae Reggie. He’s not going to kill him because the kid didn’t even know he was fae but he’s getting his brother back dammit!!! That being said I’m thinking when he finally meets human Reggie who has been raised among the fae he’s going to realize that fae Reggie was his brother all along. Fae Reggie is DEF keeping the name Regulus even if he learns his fae name and I’m sure human Reggie has a different name he answers to at this point.
There’s a lot of room for interpretation when it comes to how the fae treat human children they abduct but I’m going to minimize the angst (for once) and say human Reggie was treated well. Sirius came on this whole journey that broke fae Reggie’s head but human Reg doesn’t know Sirius and has no intention of leaving the community that raised him. To human Regulus this dude is a stranger showing up to abduct him from his home, not a hero here to rescue him. Suddenly Sirius realizes he’s doing exactly what was done to the infants all those years ago, but it’s worse because the Reguluses have people and connections and community in the home they were raised in.
Then Sirius has to convince fae Regulus, the brother he raised and loves, that he was stupid and hotheaded and that blood was never what made them brothers. Then fae Reggie has to decide if he goes home with the man who stopped calling him family or stay with a community ready to welcome him (two for one Reggie’s is literally the dream). Obviously he ends up forgiving Sirius and going home with him but not before meeting human Regulus and getting to learn about the life he might have had.

yk what pisses me the fuck off? people being so obsessed w regulus that they downplay sirius' trauma just to make reg a sadder character that they can relate to. do whatever u want with reg - this is a free fandom, jkr doesn't run it and ur allowed to think whatever, but its actually baffling how ur willing to legit take away sirius' trauma for reg. i've seen people say that 'reg is the second choice child' like... ur kidding me, right? just because... he's younger?? doesn't make him second choice??? i will confidently say that sirius is 100% the less favoured child and i will fight anyone on it - i mean, how is this even a fucking debate?!? what is wrong with people?! sure, reg's story is sad and interesting but i desperately need you to stop depriving him of every little good thing in his life just to improve his story.
i will 100% confidently say that sirius is objectively one of the most, if not the most, traumatised character in the marauders fandom. yes, i know we shouldn't compare people's trauma, and with any other character i wouldn't. but this is sirius. he was physically and mentally abused by his parents, he felt that he had to protect a young child when he was only a year older and developed a martyr complex, had his family try and manipulate him into joining their cult at 16, ran away from home and was disowned at 16, grew up in wartime, he became a child solider at 18, his *adoptive* parents died at 19, his brother died at 19, his relationship w remus was falling apart, he got framed for the murder of his bsfs at 21 and then spent 12 years of his life getting his soul sucked out of him, at 33 he gets let out and his godson thinks he's a murderer and he has to un-learn his dog-like behaviours, at 34 the war begins again, at 35 he dies, and then in the afterlife watches remus have a wife and child. please fight me on this because i could go all day for him.
