- She said making top 20 she was happy because it was improvement from last year and then finding out she got top 10 was an amazing surprise

I feel like he was into band when he was younger and in school, but he got bullied for it, so he switched to gridball instead. He loves gridball, but sometimes he wonders what would have happened if he stuck with the trumpet.

Jess thinks he's short, but I don't think he'd have as much arrogance/confidence that he does in game if he were short. I think he does the hands on top of the doorframe thing.

To me, he was one of those semi-annoying popular guys in high school who would interrupt the class of the younger grade and ask the teacher if she missed him.

Takes skincare seriously (ty Haley)

While she still lived in the city, she went into cosmetology since it had the opportunity to be a creative career, and her partner at the time didn't really support her in her art (I think the partner bit is canon). Ultimately, she came to resent her job, and she left the city for Stardew Valley. I think she still uses the skills and knowledge she acquired when doing her own hair, and occasionally the hair of some of the residents in the valley.

I've seen some hemming and hawing when it comes to people like Andrew Tate and how they attract an audience, and a lot of people seem to be really comfortable coming to the conclusion that "yeah man there's millions of 12 year olds who are born shitty."

And well, maybe. But I don't think that's likely. See, back when I was a kid, before everyone had the internet, the big worry everyone had was about "using the TV as a babysitter." (I was young enough to miss out on most of the "latchkey kid" years). Kids missing out on being guided in their media consumption by their parents was seen as a contributor to all manner of social ills, especially violent crime. Y'know, these kids come home to an empty house and Mom and Dad are still out working, so they turn on the TV and watch Death Wish 48 and the next thing you know they're throwing pipe bombs at each other.

So there was a time when we at least acknowledged, albeit with much exaggeration, that impressionable kids watching video unsupervised was not really great.

We all know that the major websites all use algorithms designed to "drive engagement," which turns out to mostly mean pissing everyone off by showing them far-right and other whackadoodle bullshit. It's normal for toddlers to play with tablets and for grade schoolers to have smartphones now.

I don't think the problem is the kids are born wrong. I think the problem is that we've decided that the best way to get them to shut up and color is let them watch the Joe Goebbels Podcast and then act shocked when they do a mass shooting

ARE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? My mom was playing volleyball in the early days of her pregnancy and one of the opposing team member's name she loved so much, said she'd never heard it before, and named me it. I grew up in a small town and there were two other people with my name in my grade. Sad for me. However, I nicknamed myself as soon as I could talk and have never gone by my legal name (except professionally 🤪). Also I named myself after a bug sooooo who's the real winner here 🪲🪲🪲

This morning i listened to a podcast about community care and queer platonic love using bell hooks work as the foundational text and it made me cry happy tears of gratitude for the growth I've had in my own life. inspiration:  i think i take the most inspiration out of my favorite tropes i feel were done well in my favorite series? and song lyrics - but there's a bit of a disconnect here as i've recently discovered i cannot listen to music (even instrumental) and be creative at the same time. honestly, just reading in general, which reminds me of how words work and the wonderful things authors, roleplayers, all the writers out there can do with them!

story behind url: i wanted something to do with "in shambles" and played around with some translations on it until i found one that clicked!
