I listened to "Batman: The Lazarus Syndrome" for the second time; it's an audio drama from 1989 and here are some Jason mentions in it that make me want to chew glass:

Barbara: I could try to tap into his computer... it may still have my voice print on file, unless he trashed it when the Joker put me in this chair Gordon: Now Batman may seem a cold-hearted son of a gun, but I don't think he'd ever erase Batgirl from his files. Barbara (whispering): Yeah, I wonder... he's tried hard enough to forget Jason.

Dick: Jason's left him a hell of a legacy. First he throws himself into his work with a suicidal intensity, and now he's- he's planning to quit? Alfred: Um, Master Dick... Nobody knows that anything has happened to Robin. You know- I often think back to the sight of you both leaving to go on patrol- Dick: No! Never again! Alfred: He always seemed happier with you... Dick: Things are different now. I can't make this a fairy tale with a happy ending. Even if I came back, would that wipe away the pain of what happened to Jason? For a while it was as if I'd never been without a Robin. But there were undercurrents; he had a dangerous amount of aggression to work off, he became moody, resentful, reckless! I began to realize I'd made a mistake. (flashback) Alfred: I've noticed some disquieting things about Master Jason myself. The lad never mentions his parents, yet I've come across him crying over his old photographs. Being your partner is hardly the best situation for a teenager still adjusting to such a loss. Bruce: Then I must try and rectify the situation. Jason's going off active duty immediately. Jason: And I don't have a word to say about it, huh? Bruce: How long have you been hiding there, Jason? Jason: You can't be serious about this! Bruce: I am. You've got a lot of anger and pain inside of you. Jason: I can handle it. Bruce: We can work this out. Jason: You want to talk? Talk to Alfred. (end flashback) Talia: The poor child... and both parents long dead... Bruce: So I thought. But then Jason discovered that his late father had remarried. His real mother was still alive. He used the computer to track her down, and set off after her, alone. He never thought she might be involved with the Joker; never guessed it might be a trap. By the time I got to him, I'd lost him. He was beaten half to death and then blown up trying to save his mother's life. Talia: You mustn't blame yourself. Bruce: He'd still be alive to day if I'd left him where I found him! In Crime Alley... Talia: How can you say that? You saved his life, my love. You delivered him. Bruce: I delivered him- right into the hands of the Joker. I've got to pay for that.

The longest a person's ever been, by all means, dead, before coming back to life was 17 hours. I am soooo obsessed with the implications... how common is it for people's personalities to be different after reviving? How is it possible for the body to come back to life after such a long amount of time? What are the conditions that would allow a body to come back to life? How disorienting is it for people to wake back up, especially when at that point their blood has probably somewhat pooled, making it difficult to see or move? And, in a spiritual sense, does this mean that we remain attached to our bodies after death? Or do we just hang onto our bodies for as long as there are still cells alive? In that case, wouldn't cremation be the quickest way to help us on our journeys? How many people throughout history met the perfect criteria to make revival possible but were buried/cremated too soon, or simply didn't have anybody around them who knew how to help them? Many such questions!

Jason liked to think that Danny has cat's eyes. And by that Jay doesn't mean mixture of a predatory look and a cute purr of his boyfriend's core that comes with non-human being thing. Just cats have slit-shaped eyes. Danny have them too. And Todd is so into it.

Jason:

I don’t understand why he takes his eyes off me when I call him Kitty or try to catch his eye. He’s a dog lover but I didn’t think he hated cats. They’re cheeky and charming, just like him. Danny’s not embarrassed by his fangs or his white hair. So..why?

Later Sam explains to Jason that after the portal incident Danny did not immediately learn to live a half-life and for the first few days dropped dead several times.  And because she tested it using Ripault sign, the shape of his pupils ended up looking like cat's one in his phantom form.

P.S.Ripault sign - a sign of death consisting of a permanent change in the shape of the pupil produced by unilateral pressure on the eyeball.  So, a pupil  of a dead person acquires an oval shape, and in a healthy living person such a reaction is not observed. This is associated with the inevitable post-mortem drop in blood pressure and the lack of activity of the central nervous system, which manifests itself in the absence of ocular muscle tone.

Tacker adds that Danny also died with his eyes open, so in his Phantom form he barely blinks. It seems pretty creepy too everyone, well, except Jason. Thanks to Tim he used to have blank stare near him.

Team Phantom also tells him that when Danny's too focused on phantom's task (save, protect, escape) his systems just stop keeping Fenton's body alive.

No blinking and fixed pupils are the first signs Jason has learned to watch for. After that, breathing stops. Only a few times he recorded a complete cardiac arrest. After the battle with Pariah Dark, Danny passed out on the couch and lay without a heartbeat, so the blood clotted exactly where it had collected under gravity. Those cadaveric spots appeared in several places really frightened Jason. 

So during the fight his boyfriend's ghost side stops monitoring functions of his human body at all. And it doesn't help that cardiostimulation for Phantom is pointless. He died from exposure to electricity, so the generation of a signal to work the cells is now under full control of the core.

Jason fights with Danny for a long time, convincing him that he should take better care of his health. As a compromise, they decide to put several sensors on them to monitor some parameters around the clock. Jason curses that it was his idea when Batman enters their apartment at night, smashing the window. It turns out that death is still following Jason. His heart was the one that played the funeral march on the cardiogram and froze, and he didn’t even notice it.

The old man managed to break several of his ribs while doing CPR but Jason only came to life when Danny pulled the hyperventilating bat away from his body and let ectoplasm take its course.

P.S. Lazarus syndrome, also known as autoresuscitation after failed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is the spontaneous return of a normal cardiac rhythm after failed attempts at resuscitation.

This story will feature many of the main cast members, but it is primarily Zuko-centric. He is my special interest character, so naturally I draw him the most.

In Season 1 Danny Phantom, in the Cujo episode Danny as Phantom is described as pasty faced, and in the episode where Danny loses a present in the ghost zone Jack sees a mailman ghost and describes him as pale even though we the viewers see him as bright green.

I headcanon that ghosts see ectoplasm differently than humans. In the GZ everything’d be ectoplasm all the time so they’d need to be able to see better and discern different types from each other. Hell, maybe humans think pure ectoplasm is white! None of the Amity Parkers seem to think Phantom is different from other ghosts even though he’s the only one with a normal human skin tone. So they probably see all ghosts as these creepy pale motherfuckers. Meanwhile, for ghosts, they figure out he’s a halfa really quickly because they see him as having a tan.

Also, the colors on screen change when ghostly stuff is happening. Maybe when Danny’s ghost sense goes off / he’s alert his vision heightens to ghost levels. That’d also explain why he doesn’t notice when other people are overshadowed right away: he’s not thinking to look in the ghost spectrum, so he’s not seeing their eyes glow / change colors like we the viewers are.

Now on to DP x DC: If humans see ectoplasm as white and Lazarus Pits = ectoplasm, why are Lazarus Pits green? That’s just how many added chemicals there are. Normal ectoplasm isn’t particularly irradiated, but the Pits are. So Lazarus Pits are basically ectoplasm with fucking uranium added in. The only reason it’s not killing people is because ectoplasm nullifies the effects of radiation on organic matter. Some day in the future, ghost shields could become anti-nuke shields.

Anyone who’d taken a dip in the Lazarus Pits and had the ecto removed would soon die from acute radiation syndrome.

For the past month, I've been running a bracket to determine which TOS episode is best, but how about which one is worst? I'm not gonna do a whole bracket for that, so let's do a single poll instead. The choices are based on how badly the episode lost in Round 1 or 2 of "Which episode is best." Any episode that won a round is not included as it is at least better than one episode.

anyway quick summary of what i think each character represents to isaacs psyche before i go to bed. regular characters are a part of him as a person and the tainted characters then reflect part of his trauma imo

isaac: obviously himself, but also isaac being a blank slate represents how he created so many personas to deal with his trauma/tainted isaac: the physical abuse isaac experienced and how he had to adapt as a survival strategy

magdalene: his love and admiration for his mother, to the point of wanting to be just like her/tainted magdalene: isaac's desperate need and latching onto any positive attention + his association of love with physical and emotional pain due to having shitty parents

cain: isaac feeling like he destroyed his family and the guilt that comes with that/tainted cain: hoarding

judas: isaac feeling like he’s betrayed both those he loves and his faith/tainted judas: intentionally acting out bc you believe you’re evil anyway

???: isaac's perception of himself after death/tainted ???: generally playing with feces is a common symptom of childhood trauma, which tainted ??? takes to an absurd extent.

eve: isaac's suicidal ideation and desire to self harm, along with internalised misogyny from his upbringing/tainted eve: self harming and suicidal behaviour

samson: isaac's anger and frustration/tainted samson: violent outbursts from trauma triggers

azazel: isaac's religious delusions of being the antichrist and his sins/tainted azazel: isaac's belief he needs to be punished and physically hurt for those “sins”

lazarus: potentially past suicide attempts/thoughts of suicide, and the religious implications of such/tainted lazarus: isaac's fear of purgatory and being unable to enter heaven due to suicide being a sin.

eden: the playfulness and silliness of like, a normal five year old, and isaac's maladaptive daydreaming/tainted eden: the fawn response, changing who you are to try and make what’s hurting you stop

the lost: again, isaac's idea of himself after his suicide/tainted lost: fear of being forsaken and abandoned again bc suicide is a sin and he’d be stuck in purgatory in his own head.

lilith: isaac's negative thoughts on his mother shifted to a “safe” alternative/tainted lilith: fear of sexuality and growing up

keeper: both again isaac's constant thoughts of death + a representation of his father, who he both admires and fears becoming/tainted keeper: indulgence and risky behaviours as a distraction

apollyon: due to the void representing delirium, possibly a reflection of isaac's own thoughts/reflections on his psychosis?/tainted apollyon: dunno tbh the later characters are less obvious and it’s 2 am

forgotten: isaac's idea of purgatory and what he thinks he deserves after his suicide, due to it being “sinful”/tainted forgotten: again, isaac's fear of being stuck forever due to that

bethany: isaac's idea of what he “should” be, being virtuous and holy where he feels he is sinful and damned/tainted bethany: clinging to his religion as a coping mechanism or rejecting it violently out of fear

jacob + esau: desire for a friend/sibling?/tainted jacob: impostor syndrome, feeling like you’ve betrayed/stolen from people around you.

again these are very simplified very tentative and it is 2 am so I cannot elaborate but. i think about this way too much.
