Went to my cousin’s musical tonight and it brought me back to my acting days! I missed that so much, it was like getting a shot of pure adrenaline to my gay ass theatre kid brain.
It also reminded me of some very important tips for theatre-goers…
If they ask you to not film the performance it is because THEY WILL GET SUED BY THE COMPANY THAT RENTED THE SCRIPT TO THEM. Do. Not. Film. I don’t care that your beautiful baby boy is on stage you keep that camera in photo mode! Filmers are trying to get a small school sued by a giant company without realizing it and it’s an atrocious consequence of actions you can prevent!
Also, the performances are ranked in quality:
The first performance is going to be filled with anxiety and jitters, so there will be more mistakes and worse performance. That is the necessary sacrifice to the theatre gods.
The second performance has significantly less anxiety, more flow, and still has energy. This is the best performance.
The last performance everyone is just so done and would prefer everyone not show up so we can go home. Kill me, please, I’ve been rehearsing for a thousand years and the end is near. Put me out of my misery. There is no god, only the script and the burning of the lights.

To anyone who sees this and does musical theater...
I need advice... again. this time it's a theater thing for all my musical theater performers out there who wanna help a girl out 😔🙏
Tumblr media
🔮 I'm having an internal crisis.
So i've been into musicals for FOREVER and I love singing songs at karaoke and getting into character and stuff whatever THE POINT IS recently i've been considering actually trying out for a musical?? the last time i didn't theater was elementary school if that counts and i've never been apart of a choir so no i can't read sheet music or know what it means sos the closest i've gotten is orchestra. I'm just nervous because i've never done THEATER before and i would have no idea how to prepare and i feel like id make myself look stupid at any auditions if i did; now im here on tumblr again asking for advice!!
🔮 *googles how to get my voice to work*
i don't think i'm a BAD singer but i'm not anything out of this world, i think i'm anywhere from an alto to a mezzo-soprano?? (my most comfortable songs to sing are JD's songs from heathers or ngrom from waitress, i can also sing from like deja vu to 505 if that helps to any music nerds anywhere! thanks) anyway i don't even know my voice range and whether im a good singer; also i think that 99% of the time im singing with my head voice and idk how to belt or sing with chest voice so if anyone has any vocal advice on how to sing better and warmup my voice for stuff like this it'd be greatly appreciated i'm literally clueless when it comes to singing so if you think any piece of advice is stupid and common knowledge it's probably not for me and i'll gladly take it
🔮 fake it til you make it??
I DONT KNOW IF IM A GOOD ACTRESS EITHER UGH i don't really get stage fright bc i do multiple sports/activities that require me being in front of an audience i just don't want to look stupid 😓💔 I can memorize lines and stuff like that it's just the performance aspect in worried about so if anyone has tips on how to scope out my acting ability or how to improve it reach out please i #needthat
🔮 auditions exist... unfortunately
uhm how do auditions work bc i don't wanna embarrass myself if i even decide to go for it bc what if i make a fool of myself and ill have to fall off the face of the earth and no one will be able to see me again? what if i mess up at auditions and they think im terrible? what if i don't mess up and they still think im terrible? it's so scary as a newbie someone please sos
🔮 do i even go for it?
with all these issues and roadblocks do i even try to go for it... i have a friend that does theater and i'm scared they'll judge me if i mention trying out for it 😭 the urge to try theater again (kinda) has been so strong lately and me being watching musicals and singing songs doesn't help! please be brutally honest i need it, toodles!

It's a common thing in fanfics that firebenders run hot – slightly higher body temperature can't hurt you if you have this spirit blessing, right?
Weeeeell. This reproduction method of ours requires a slightly lower temperature for a healthy sperm. Does this mean that male firebenders have a higher chance to be infertile? Or do they have to consciously lower their body temperature to have babies?
You may have heard of those spas where the water helps with baby making. Just picture it. Fire Nation, a high enough mountain to actually have chilly weather, some cozy little cottages and a lake with cold water, with a bunch of firebenders freezing their balls off to have kids.

Top 5 Common Chess Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Chess is a game of strategy and precision, but even the best players are prone to mistakes. Understanding and avoiding these common errors can be the key to improving your performance on the board. In this blog, we’ll uncover the top 5 chess mistakes players make and provide actionable tips to avoid them. Plus, learn how KingCompiler, a renowned chess academy, can help you refine your game and minimize errors.
1. Not Controlling the Center Early
The center of the board is the most important area in chess. Failing to control the center early in the game can leave you at a disadvantage.
Why It’s Crucial:
Center control allows better mobility for your pieces.
It helps restrict your opponent’s options.
How to Fix It: Focus on developing pawns and pieces to central squares (e4, d4, e5, d5) early in the game.

2. Ignoring Piece Safety and Hanging Pieces
Leaving pieces undefended, also known as “hanging pieces,” is one of the most common mistakes. This often results in losing valuable material unnecessarily.
How to Avoid It:
Always check if your pieces are protected after every move.
Avoid rushing your moves — double-check for threats before making your play.
KingCompiler coaches train students to identify hanging pieces and improve board awareness through tactical exercises.
3. Overlooking Opponent’s Threats
Many players focus solely on their own plans and fail to consider their opponent’s threats. This can lead to blunders and unexpected losses.
How to Avoid It:
Analyze your opponent’s possible moves before deciding on yours.
Stay alert for tactics like forks, pins, and skewers that could target your pieces.
Tumblr media
4. Poor Pawn Structure Decisions
Pawn structure plays a critical role in both the opening and endgame. Weak pawn moves, such as creating isolated or doubled pawns, can lead to long-term disadvantages.
How to Fix It:
Avoid unnecessary pawn pushes unless they serve a clear purpose.
Learn how to create strong pawn chains for better control.
KingCompiler focuses on teaching pawn structure strategies to help players build solid and flexible positions.
5. Rushing Endgame Moves Without Calculation
The endgame requires precise calculation, but many players rush through it, leading to missed winning opportunities or unnecessary draws.
How to Avoid It:
Practice endgame puzzles to improve your calculation skills.
Learn key endgame principles like king activity, opposition, and pawn promotion.

Day #14 of convincing Taylor Swift that I can be one of her songwriters
Can you stay for a little while
Tell me why you think you can't put back that smile?
'Cause I've got you like a dream
All the jumbled words in my book are aligned
Too good for this world
You die with simple words
I might can't see you cry
But I always see you try
Heal my heart and weep my tears
Leave all your comfort here
Light up my dark room
Your face isn't less than the cherry blossom
You think a lot, not just once
But trust me you're more than enough
Bring meaning to my life
You're so much more than what I can ever write
Being in your arms here
It is a privilege I can't let anyone access
Without you, a second is like an hour
And a day like that can make my life sour
I'll tell you how this world's not for you
I'll say it again, you're just too good
I still wonder how I got you
Your presence itself is rare and so true
I've got a home in you
And you're my world too
Do you still think you aren't enough?
If yes, I'll list down many more reasons
But for me, there's only one
That you are here with me my love

I'm going to be working towards some actual goals this year, that I sort of started on late last year. One of those involves trying to get my own small/hobby business going properly.
Part of that is going to include creating my own original designs for things. As such, I got myself a little Christmas present at a crazy awesome price: a Wacom One Creative Pen Display tablet.
I've not used a drawing tablet before, and it has been a very, very long time since I've properly done art (pretty much haven't done anything serious since high school....). I've been trying my best to overcome my inherent fear/imposter syndrome when it comes to actually using the tablet, and I've managed to try it out a bit so far.
Mostly, I've been trying out the freeware program Krita, and I've got a 3 month free subscription to Clip Studio Paint (thanks to the purchase of the wacom).
I have a new-found respect (though I have always respected artists!) for digital artists. This shit is hard! I'm also crazy rusty in general art skills anyway, so it's a hell of a learning curve at the moment.
Anyway. All this is to say, that if anyone out there has any advice/tips/tricks about digital art I would GREATLY appreciate it if you could shoot me a message! I've been looking at youtube tutorials etc, and it is all a bit overwhelming to be honest.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)

Watch Your Mouth! : How to Save Face While on the Stage
Tumblr media
Starting from when you enter a venue to the main stage - expression is key. We become our icon in person, and the image we portray is vital.
I come from a background of musical theatre as well as being a professional wrestling personality for a while.
What did both things have in common?
We stayed in character and didn't break character from the moment we entered a venue. We were our character the entire time, including if we went on a bathroom or coffee break. In acting, some people consider this to be a form of method acting.
That being said, don't have a sour puss on your face when around people. I know it can be hard, especially some of us having a natural R.B.F when just being neutral. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant when greeting passerby, but just a small smile does suffice.
Now, the stage... this is where we truly see the beauty of the candid shot thanks to photographers being on our every flicker of movement. I love it, honestly, now that I've finally found the trick to it - I sometimes do unplanned movements that makes for fantastic photos - but before then....I was terrified of seeing the photos taken.
When I first began, I thought , 'Ok, just smile when you strike the pose and you're set!' Oh, honey...no. It's awkward to see someone smile only during their pose then proceed to knit their brows together in a 'hmmph!' while transitioning to the next pose. It frankly makes the pleasant demeanor seem very put on and not genuine. Unless it's part of your routine to be frustrated with your prop/the scenario - try to avoid these kind of expressions.
Smiles are contagious things, and I'm not going to be like that creepy old guy urging you to, "Why don't you smile, sweetie? Show me that smile! You would look so much better if you smiled! SMILE DAMNIT!" because honestly the last thing I want to do is smile when being pressured to. The smile then becomes like Mia Goth's Pearl at the end of the movie.
Tumblr media
So that being said... the best rule of thumb for keeping things fresh and playing it up outside of the same smile, is using the vowels for your expressions. A E I O U (but not sometimes Y in this case).
These provide great expressions to pair with poses , and using simple smiling during the transitions - or if you're still digging the vowels.. use them while transitioning between your poses!
For those that know me personally, know that I am a massive Bill Paxton fan for numerous reasons, but one of them being how well he stays in character and the fact if you pause any scenes he is in - his expression is ALWAYS on point. It made me look into how to get candid moments to be a bit in my control - well, as much as I can with what I have in my ability to do so.
Hopefully these tips help a bit so you aren't dreading your photos at the end of a show, or dealing with the 'oh-my-lanta-my-face-wants-to-crack-from-smiling-this-same-huge-smile-all-day' feeling! I love to smile , but there is a point where I make my own facial muscles hurt from doing so, and changing it up can still help keep the pleasant vibes going without giving my face a HIIT workout!
