For fellow Lutherans: Mary being sinless does not make her God. Mary being the greatest created being does not make her equal to God; Arianism is the heresy that Jesus is the first and greatest created being and therefore not equal to God. So, as apilgrimpassingby has done, you can make an argument where Mary is sinless and greatest in creation without her being equal to God, so those can't be why we don't venerate Mary.

One of the biggest reasons that Lutherans don't affirm the doctrine of immaculate conception is that we don't believe it's scriptural, and Lutheranism doesn't value tradition the way Roman Catholicism and Orthodoxy do. This is the doctrine of Sola Scriptura, the belief that the Word of God is the only infallible authority for Christian faith and practice. And that's enough reason for us to not believe it! (Sola Scriptura is important for many Protestants, particularly Lutherans and Reform, but not all. I can't answer for why other Protestant traditions without Sola Scriptura don't affirm this doctrine.)

No one needs to try to convince Catholics and Orthodox Christians to reject the immaculate conception. Catholics and Orthodox Christians reject Sola Scriptura, which is why we have different churches! AND no one needs to try to convince non-Marian Protestants to accept the immaculate conception!
