dp x dc au but danny is bruce's biological kid and he knows it. his parents straight up told him as soon as he was old enough to know, and he loves his adopted parents all the same.
of course, it was a bit rocky with all that ghost business, but eventually Jack and Maddie came around to their halfa son and liminal daughter. Danny just thought it was funny they took longer to accept he was alive and dead than accepting he was in a relationship with Sam and Tucker.
So there's some ghost conference in Gotham being held by the GIW in order to get more occultists/people interested in ghosts to work for them. The Fentons go there, as published ghost scientists, to expose the GIW and prevent people from buying into their beliefs.
But while they're out, one of the Bats mistakes Danny for a younger Bruce. Of course there are some differences, but the Bat (I'm thinking Tim, who's running on like -16 hours of sleep and several cups of coffee) is convinced he's a clone or something. So he takes a DNA sample and the results come out: he's Bruce's kid.
Bruce is devastated that he couldn't be there for one of his kids, and so he tries to get more info in order to possibly get custody back. Tucker, who accidentally found the network the Batcomputer used three weeks ago while looking for the GIW's, is immediately aware they're looking into Danny.
The Fentons have a collective moment of "oh for fuck's sake" and try to come up with a plan to get Bruce Wayne, who definitely is Batman at this point, to get off their case.
While on a walk to get his thoughts in order, Danny runs into Red Hood in Crime Alley. Both of them are immediately aware of the other for vastly different reasons. Jason, for "Batman wants to adopt this kid who already has a family" and Danny, for "oh shit this guy has a fucked up core what the hell is wrong with this guy" they have a Spiderman meme moment and Red Hood, always on the lookout for an opportunity to spite Bruce, offers his help. Danny accepts, with the caveat that he takes Jason to the Realms to figure out what the fuck is up with him.
Jason is extraordinarily confused but for some reason the Pit is really quiet around this guy and he feels safe around some dumb teenager so he's like "okay?? Sure??"
Danny takes him back to the hotel the Fentons are staying in and explains the situation a bit. Jack and Maddie hook up their temporary portal (blowing the electricity of the hotel in the meantime) and get Jason to the ghost doctor, Frostbite.
He gets diagnosed with "bro your ectoplasm is fucked up" disease and his ectoplasm is cleaned. He's like a diet halfa, with a few ghost powers but no ghost form. A liminal on steroids.
Anyway, Bruce sends a Batkid to the Fentons hotel (because of course he found it) in civilian garb to explain the situation. The Fentons Are Not Having It.
So, of course, with parents Bruce believes are mad scientists, he takes it upon himself to get that child out of a home of mad ghost hunters. By kidnapping him.
Danny's just pissed off because he finally got Vlad off his case and now he's here dealing with ANOTHER billionaire with a bat-themed super persona wanting to forcefully adopt him. The irony would be funny if it weren't so infuriating.
The Batkids are so happy to have a "new brother" in the house, even if said brother really doesn't want to be there. Jason just has no fucks left to give anymore and re-kidnaps Danny.
This of course sparks a game of Who Can Kidnap Danny and it's getting to the point where Danny just hates the BatFamily more and more because he was SUPPOSED to have a date with Sam and Tucker today and now he's holed up in the Batcave getting fitted for a vigilante costume by Nightwing. Alfred and Jason are the only sane people in the mansion.
So Danny "Bad Decisions" Fenton just says "fuck it" and goes ghost in private, leaving the manor and flying back to Amity. The convention has ended by this point, so they're all back home.
Cue BatFamily freaking out.
Eventually Bruce serves the Fentons legal papers (once he finds their address). The Fentons show up to court and verbally and respectfully ream Bruce for trying to re-adopt their son who they love so much. As the evidence of Bruce being wrong adds up, he realizes what he's done and feels like shit. Jason gives him a hearty "I told you so" for his efforts.
The Fentons live happily ever after, and Danny gets a cool secondary family that he doesn't really like until they all apologize.
Heheh. Just wait until they meet Dani, he thinks.

I am procrastinating homework and finals studying so I'm making another DPxDC au -- or more accurately, I am making an au of an au. or combining two aus to make a third one, because I am Procastinating And thinking about it.
(the part two for my Danny is Jason Todd au is like,,, half-made and I will get around to finishing it, promiiissse)
So the two aus I had in mind were combining, of course, the two clone aus - the Danny Clone and the Damian Clone au. For folks who haven't seen either posts (or saw one but not the other) here are summaries of both:
Damian Clone Au: The LoA make a clone of Damian Wayne specifically to either kill Damian Wayne and have the clone take his place as the heir to the LoA, or to bring him back. At 6 years old though and through magical teleportation mishaps, Baby Damian ends up in the warehouse district of Amity Park and picked up (and later adopted) by Danny Fenton. They develop a brotherly dynamic with one another.
Danny Clone Au: Danny is straight up a clone of Bruce Wayne, doesn't find out until a year after he has his accident. And, for the fun of it, is also mostly-powerless (he retains his ghost sense and a semblance of a ghost core and signature, but no ghost form). His reasoning for becoming Phantom is because he has walked into the lab watching his parents dissecting ghosts post-portal working more times than he can count. And due to this, changes his beliefs from "ghosts are evil" to "ghosts are sentient and sapient beings who don't deserve this treatment". (masterpost pinned on my blog, its currently incomplete) He is also a little GNC, as a treat. Long-haired Danny ftw. Ellie is a halfa because of the ectoplasm that Vlad used, and also the same age as Danny. They call each other twins and she is viciously protective of him. He uses a baseball bat and brass knuckles that I call 'jawbreakers' to fight ghosts.
Now admittedly, not much probably changes with the combination of these aus other than the potential parallels between Damian and Danny, and Bruce and Damian - and of course, I am always a sucker for parallels. Plus Damian's running off would take Danny finding him much longer, since he can no longer fly, but all the more meaningful because he still took so much time to find him.
(It probably also makes their first meeting different as well - Danny wears a ROTTMNT Casey Jones Jr. esq. mask when he goes out, but Damian would recognize lazarus green anywhere. He'd probably try harder to kill him though once he sees his face, since he knows that its not his father but an imposter.)
It also includes what I consider a hilarious conversation: "Since I'm a clone of Bruce Wayne, does this make me your dad or your brother?" "Don't be an idiot, laeazir." "You didn't answer my question."
The biggest change that comes from this is, of course, the fact that Danny now no longer has a leg to stand on with the "you're a human, I am a ghost" excuse in order to prevent Damian to help him with ghost-fighting, because now Danny is also a squishy, fleshy and fragile human just like Damian. And a human who, arguably, has less combat training than Damian and no powers to make up for it.
Now, Danny in both aus are about 16-17-ish in age, so they've had time to adapt to their new vigilante-hero lifestyle, but its still not the same as Damian's training as an assassin. Damian, unlike in the original clone au, remains insistent on his want to help Danny.
And,,, eventually wears him down after weeks or months of sneaking out after him, helping in fights, interfering, arguing, etc. Danny eventually agrees, exhausted, but he makes Damian promise, promise, that he will be careful and to focus on dodging and distraction. At least until Danny can figure out a safer alternative. He wants him as far removed from the fight as he can, he's a child for ancient's sake, after all.
Which is another issue too - if we follow Damian Clone timeline, then Damian is six years old when this happens. I'll be point blank, I do not see Danny ever actually agreeing to let a literal 6 year old go with him. SO, solution, I bump Damian's age to 7 when he arrives in the Fenton Family, and make him freshly eight years old when he finally gets Danny to agree.
It still SUCKS. He is still very much an itty bitty child, but as someone who has seen the difference between a six year old and an eight year old due to working at a daycare, an eight year old is still... slightly feasible. And an 8 year old assassin even more so (even if he hasn't trained properly in nearly a year or so)
So Danny, reluctantly, agrees to let Damian come with him on patrols.
He ghost-proofs Damian's sword (as he has since learned to do with his bat and jawbreakers), makes him a grappling hook and a Fenton thermos, and reluctantly lets Damian come with in his old LoA uniform that he appeared in (with some tailoring and ghost-proofing, because he has since begun to grow out of the uniform).
(and Danny himself also finally starts looking into alternatives to improve his own "suit" - which is all but a hoodie and reinforced jeans and a hockey mask. He needs to set an example to his little brother, goddammit.)
Then, as they're planning for Damian's eventual (dreaded on Danny's part) debut, they sit in their shared room and brainstorm for what to call Damian. "Ellie already uses the name Spirit." Danny says, sitting criss-cross at his desk with the eraser nub of a pencil chewed between his teeth.
(Behind him he has an investigative corkboard set up -- his accident left him with the ability to see ghosts not capable of being seen on the visible plane. 'Stereotypical' ghosts. Between school work, his social life, and ghost fighting, some of his downtime is spent figuring out ways to help them move on. His most recent is a cold case.)
(Bc with Danny, I loove to have him have some sort of trait that ties him in with his original counterpart. Nature vs Nurture and all that. Investigative work can be part of that.)
"What about Wraith?" Damian suggests from the floor, leaning against the bed frame while he goes over one of his english books. They've been practicing his reading and writing.
Danny furrows his brows. "A ghost seen typically shortly after or before someone's death?"
Damian nods. "Yes, it's of a similar cadence to 'Batman and Robin'."
"What's with you and your thing with Batman and Robin?" Danny asks with a playful half-smile, Damian shrugs and looks at his books. Danny sticks the eraser back between his incisors. "Phantom and Wraith... that works, though."
The first night out together, Danny fusses over Damian, making sure every bit of uniform was secured and in place -- something Damian took mild offense over. His outfit was far more reinforced than the juvenile get-up that his older brother wore.
But he let him fuss anyways. It made him loved.
"Now remember, Wraith--"
Damian interrupts him: "Yes, I know, Dany. Avoid and distract. Stay situationally aware. I fear that is something I should be telling you, however. Mother would have your head if she ever saw what your training was like."
(It was, not for the first time, that Damian wondered how his,,, "mother",,, would react if she ever met Danyal. Not good, he knows.)
Danny's shoulders sag, and he sighs. "I believe that, what with that super-secret spy--"
"Assassin."
Danny sends him a half-hearted chagrined look, "Assassin," he corrects, "organization that made you. I'm sure I'd give your mother an aneurysm." When he's finally okay with whatever make-believe issues he found with his suit, Danny reaches for the nearby side table and carefully slips on a black domino mask over Damian's eyes. It was thin, flexible, and made with some kind of material that Danny reassured was environmentally safe.
("Some kind of matieral that Wayne Industries invented awhile ago, Sam bought it for me." Danny told him when he first showed it to him.)
It was also cold. But the chill was made up for, slightly, with Danny's warmer hands smoothing it out over his skin, and ridding of any ridges that could form. Damian isn't sure entirely what Danyal did to keep it stuck onto his face, but when he touches it with his fingers he feels a very faint seam at the edge, and it doesn't budge against his hands. It felt like a second skin.
"There we go." Danny smiles, pulling his hands back. He still looks nervous. "It's not the same as my hockey mask," which sat atop his head, ready to be pulled down, "but I think a domino mask will work better for you considering your background."
He was right, a hockey mask would only hurt Damian's peripheral vision. This mask was thin enough that it didn't.
"Ready to go, Wraith?"
"After you, Phantom."
+++
Damian has much issue with Danny's suit. He can think of a million ways to make it better. It is one of the things he and Samantha Manson can get along with, and the few times they have spent time together they have brainstormed suit ideas. He knows that since Danny took him on as Wraith, he has started to look into better suit alternatives.
However. They are both aware of the same thing:
Danny is not Batman, nor Superman, nor Wonder Woman, nor Aquaman, or the Flash, or Green Arrow, or Nightwing, or any single hero on the public roster. He is also not rich like Lex Luthor or Vlad Masters or Bruce Wayne himself.
He has no money and no contacts, and thus, no way of properly improving his suit to be something even half as safe as the other supers.
And he refuses to let Samantha Manson help him find a way to fix that - even with all that money, Samantha Manson is on an allowance from her parents, and also, despite her other range of abilities, not capable of getting those materials without putting herself on a list of some sort. They are at a standstill.
Damian knows this, because he has asked.
Until one day when Danny is talking about a case he is working on and telling Damian about old adventures he had in the Ghost Zone, does he see his brother get hit with a lightbulb.
He slaps a hand against his forehead and straightens up from his swivel seat. He huffs a laugh, "Of course! Why didn't I think of it sooner?" And he turns on his heel and hurries to his bookshelf, pulling down a notebook and flipping open to an empty page.
Damian frowns, "Laeazir?"
"I know you don't like my suit, Damian," Danny says, striding over to his desk and snatching a pencil out of a cup. He begins jotting something down on the notebook. "And there's nothing I can really do about it because, well, I'm poor in comparison to my facesake, and I don't have the resources to get my hands on someone who would make me a new suit."
"Yes, we have talked about this..." Damian nods slowly, still frowning, and trying to follow his brother's line of reasoning.
Danny shoots him a megawatt, half-tilt smile, his hair tied up into a half-bun. "But! I was thinking about it from the wrong angle. I don't have the living resources to help me get a suit, but..." he trails off, staring at Damian intently.
It dinged in Damian's brain to where he was going, "But you have the undead resources instead." He says, his eyes widening slowly. Of course, of course! Danyal was ridiculously charismatic by accident, and Damian has seen plenty of times where his heart-of-gold had one or two non-hostile ghosts be incredibly grateful to him.
His brother makes a loud, 'ding-ding-ding!' sound, pointing his pencil at Damian as his smile stretches further across his face. In a few quick strides, he was sat down next to Damian and showing him his notebook. "Correct! When I first started out as Phantom a few years ago, I managed to help a ghost who called herself Taylor, and apparently she was a seamstress both in and out of life."
Damian watches as Danny writes the name at the top of the paper, and creates bullet-points down the page. "She said that in return for saving her, I should come find her in the Ghost Zone if I ever need clothes made for me. It's a one-time thing, but I was thinking that she could perhaps help make me a new suit."
Danny turns a bit pink at the ears, and rubs his neck, "I never thought much of it because I didn't think I'd ever go into the Ghost Zone, or ever need ghost clothes, so I forgot about it up until now."
A scoff forces itself out of Damian's mouth, but he is smiling. "Danyal, you are the smartest idiot I have ever met."
For the next hour, both he and Danny make a bullet point list of what both of their suits would need. Reinforcement in certain areas, gauntlets with reinforced knuckles to replace Danyal's jawbreakers. A different weapon than a bat.... a utility belt, reinforced boots. Anything they could think of.
It was Damian's idea to add a cloak to both of their suits, asymmetrical and torn at the edges for a more 'ghostly' look. They have a theme, after all. It's quite fun.
Then Danyal calls up Sam for help in drafting up design ideas. And while Danyal steps mostly to the side when it comes to the design itself, Damian and Sam fill pages with designs until coming up with one they both agreed on and like.
"What about a lightning bolt on the chest?" "Why are we using my traumatic accident as a symbol of my identity?" "Ghosts do it all the time, Danny. Ember sings about her death." "I'm not dead?" "No that won't work, Manson. Shazam already has a giant lighting bolt emblem." "Okay, but I still want to use it somewhere." "How about this?" "...That could work. Okay, now onto your emblem--"
Last was the hard part: getting into the Ghost Zone without the Fenton parents noticing the disappearance of their precious Fenton Specter Speeder. They employed Jazz's help with that. She would get the Fentons out of the house long enough for him and Danny to get into the ghost zone, hopefully find the seamstress, and cash in that favor.
They went through with their plan that following weekend. Danny tossed Damian a small jumpsuit as they both climbed into the specter speeder, but did not grab his own. He had a small duffle bag on him that he threw under the seat.
"What is this?" Damian asks, nose scrunching up at the gaudy picture of Jack Fenton's face square at the center of the chest. He held it far away from it, as if it had a disease.
"Your hazmat suit." Danny replies, settling himself into the driver's seat as the door hissed shut and he began turning it on. He had some sort of gas mask on in his lap, too small to fit Danny's head, but certainly the right size to fit Damian's. "Normally you wouldn't need it since you'd stay in the speeder, but we're both getting out once we find Taylor. It's to protect you from the ectoplasm."
A scowl forces itself across Damian's face, "You don't have one." He points out, finding seat in the passenger chair next to Danny. His arms cross over his chest, and he was not pouting.
Danny looks at him amusedly, "I have enough ectoplasm in my body that I don't need one, you however, do not." He retorts, poking a finger into Damian's ribcage pointedly. "If you don't put it on now, you'll put it on when we find Taylor."
Damian's scowl deepens, feeling petulant as he sunk into his chair. Danny turns back to the console and flips a few more switches. "I will not, it looks ridiculous." He turns it around to show Danny the Jack Fenton Face.
The Specter Speeder hums to life, and there's a moment of turbulence as it lifts off the ground. While it does, Danny turns back to him blankly, stares at the emblem, and then reaches forward and yanks it off with a scriiiiich of the emblem. He crumples it up with one hand, and throws it into a small bin at his feet.
"There, fixed." He smiles. Then turns back to the controls, taking the yoke with both hands. "And I'm calling Dad Rights; you will put it on when we find Taylor or you'll stay in the speeder."
Damian sputters, sitting up incredulously. "You are not my father." He argues.
"Teeechnically, I am." Danny says, "I'm a clone of your father, and since I am fully his clone, that makes you my son by a technicality." He says cheerfully, pushing the specter speeder forward and into the swirling green portal.
Before Damian can retort, they're passing through the portal. This was his first time going into the Ghost Zone, and for a few seconds there was nothing but bright, swirling green filling his vision. His body felt like it was being twisted and pulled, his up and down reversing and returning. It was painless, but dizzying.
It only lasts for a few seconds, but it feels like a minute, and when they exit out the other side, Damian is holding his head while his vision spots and swims. Internally, he felt like those cartoon characters when their eyeballs rolled around in their head.
The dizziness fades away slowly, and as Damian regains his sight, he notices Danny's hand splayed over his sternum, gently keeping him pressed against his seat. It fell away when Danny saw that he was alright.
"Put your seatbelt on," Danny orders, nodding to his chair. Damian listens absently, before remembering their conversation before they went through the portal.
"That is not how it works." He scowls, and, annoyingly, only gets a challenged eyebrow raise from Danny. He could see the words written on his face without Danyal ever having to say it.
Because, dangit, he was technically right. Damian refuses to say this aloud. He screws his jaw shut, and crosses his arms back across his chest.
Danny chuckles under his breath, and turns his eyes back to the ghost zone. "My point still stands, either you wear the suit, or you don't leave the speeder."
"Fine."
+++
They eventually find where the seamstress is. Through quite a lot of Danny stopping to ask questions with any friendly ghost he came across, they eventually locate an island with a strange, urban city bustling with life on it. Massive, rocky stalagmites grew from the ground, and buildings were built on top of it or around it, with strange, warping architecture.
It was oddly beautiful.
Danny parked the speeder on the side of the street with a two hour parking sign on a nearby post. As he turned off the engine, he flipped a switch on the console that darkened the windows. He unbuckles his seat, and stood up, stretching out his back with a deep groan.
"Alright, put your suit on. The windows are tinted, so nobody should be able to see into the speeder." He orders, pulling out the duffle he brought in earlier and unzipping it. He pulls out his hockey mask and the hoodie he wore out for patrol, and the notebook they'd been using to jot down ideas for their suit.
Danny even had the hindsight to write in their respective heights, and with Tucker's help, some of their measurements. While he did that, Damian sourly pulled on his hazmat suit, irritated by the need to wear it.
Unfortunately, he also had to wear the boots and gloves for 'extra precaution'. Damian nearly bites out a grumpy 'you're as paranoid as father', but holds his tongue. He wasn't going to tell Danyal that secret.
Once he was done and Danny has his hockey mask and hoodie on, Danny grabs the gas mask and helps fit it over Damian's face. It was a sleek, simple design, shaped similarly to a regular face mask, with little filters on both sides of the mouth and a clear, protective covering around the eyes and forehead. Danyal improved it from the original his parents made.
He was smarter than he gave himself credit for.
Danny checks, then double checks that it the mask is tight, then smiles. Patting Damian's shoulders before standing up fully. "Taylor's shop should be somewhere nearby." He says, grabbing the notebook and tucking it under his arm.
Damian nods, and follows him out the door and onto the busy streets.
Finding Taylor becomes remarkably quick now that they were inside her city - something that Damian silently wondered was based loosely off NYC. Danny kept a firm arm around Damian's shoulders the entire time they walked down the street, keeping the both of them on the inside sidewalk.
Barely anyone passed them a second glance, spare the few odd looks shot at Damian. Danny whispers to him the first time it happens that it's because he has no ghost core, those more attune to their signatures might've been picking up on it.
They didn't notice Danny, because he had one, albeit a weak one.
Taylor's shop has a big sign on it in logographic writing that Damian has no idea how to read. The text shifts slowly, a jambled squiggle of lines, dots, and connected curves that look like a mix of messy cursive, gibberish, and logographic alphabets. He only knows its Taylor's shop because Danny pulls them towards it, stating that it was the place.
"You can read that?" He asks, incredulous as they draw closer to the door. Danny moves his arm off his shoulder, and wraps his fingers around Damian's instead.
"Yep," He replies, then scrunches his nose up, "sort of. It's - uh--" he stumbles over a word that Damian's ears cannot comprehend, but fills his head with slight static regardless. Danny winces. "It's the written form of ghostspeak, but since I'm not a ghost, I can only read some of it. Like uh, dyslexia."
"...I see." Damian says after a moment of silence, trying to replay the word in his head. His mind can't grasp the sound.
When they enter, the door doesn't ding with the sound of a bell, but rather it makes a low scream. Nobody bats an eye to the sound, keeping to their slow search through the racks of clothes.
At the counter was a woman talking quietly to another woman, one of whom Danny recognizes, as he walks over to her.
He doesn't need to say anything, because the woman behind the counter sees him coming, and her face positively lights up with delight. "Phantom!" She cries, and gestures to come over. "I was wondering when in the high ancients you were going to come see me!"
Danny's face is obscured by his mask, but Damian knows he's smiling sheepishly with the way he tilts his head and the way he tenses his shoulders. "My bad, Miss Taylor," he says, reaching the counter and standing beside the woman she was talking to, "It kinda... slipped my mind."
Taylor waves her hand dismissively, "Well you are here now!" She replies, grinning wide. Then her eyes pop open - literally - and she puts a hand over her chest. "Oh, how rude of me!" She turns and gestures between Phantom and the lady next to him, "Miss Mabam, this is Phantom. I told you about him a couple of years ago. He saved me from humans. Phantom, this is Gigi Mabam, she funds my shop. In return I make clothes for her and her staff."
The 'Gigi' woman turns just as Danny does, and smiles wide at him. Damian narrows his eyes at her, shuffling behind Danny legs as he looked her up and down. She had silvery-white hair and purple skin, and wore a darker purple business suit, a red gem cravat at her collar, and teal cat-eye glasses.
There was a lot of purple.
"So this is the ghost-touched you were telling me about, dear!" The woman, Mabam, said. Her voice was rich and low but she spoke in a whimsical cadence. It made Damian's skin crawl, and his narrowed eyes turned into a glare. "I must thank you for saving my seamstress, it would've been quite a fizzy-wink if she had been lost to those ghosty hunters."
What were those nonsense words? Damian hated it.
"Miss Mabam here runs a five-star hotel nearby," Taylor explains, her body turned to Danny, "she also is in charge of the city's Battle Nexus."
Danny is silent for a moment, and his free hand lifts and places itself on the back of Damian's head, keeping him close. "Battle Nexus...?"
Mabam claps cheerfully, laughing low, "Oh yes! Ghosts from all around the zone come to attend and watch as their fellow haunties are ripped from limbity-limb in a blood-curdling battle!"
Danny is still as stone. "I see." He says, careful. Damian wraps his fingers around his pant leg. "Well, I hate to interrupt your conversation, but I was hoping to cash in that favor, Miss Taylor?"
"Of course! What do you need?"
Danny looks down at Damian, and he looks up at him, locking eyes with the ominous green glowing from the eyeslits of his mask. He nods, and Danny looks back up. "Do you know how to make suits? Of the protective kind?"
+++
The seamstress it turns out, is capable of such a thing. And she ushers the both of them into one of the backrooms, sending off Mabam with a farewell and a promise to continue their conversation soon.
She flips through their design book, and immediately gets to work making their suits. In the end, with the help of her powers, she gets both done over the span of four hours. It's longer than both Danny and Damian want, but neither rush her.
Damian just hopes that Jasmine can keep the Fenton parents distracted for that long. She will have to.
The suits are better in real life than on paper, and Damian preens from the side in his own custom suit as Danny examines his own in front of the three mirrors. They were both dressed in all black, but whatever fabric Taylor used was of a blackest-black, turning Danyal - and Damian's - bodies into a black hole to look at. Both of them were fitted for agility, with reinforced padding around their shoulders and chests, as well as around the joints of their legs. Their boots were reinforced as well.
("It was hard to make your boots shock absorbent," Taylor explains, "since we all fly, but I applied similar stuff to what I did with your shoulders and chestplate.")
On the side of Danyal's legs were raised, black, lichtenberg-like figures that were contained to the seams and disappeared under his boots. There were similar designs going up his sleeves, with spiked gauntlets wrapped around his lower arm and hands. The knuckles were reinforced, just like he wanted.
Damian's favorite parts were their capes, however. Black like the rest of the outfit, but "wrapped" around their shoulders like an apocalyptic shawl with a back that went down to their knees, and at the hems the capes were torn and ripped like a wraith. Danyal's mask had gone through very little change. It was made of a stronger material, and Taylor had gone and made it more skull-like in its shape, with three large grills at the front, and the sides curving inward below the 'cheekbones' of the skull to better fit his face. It was still shock white, the only white part of Danyal's entire costume.
Damian's suit was almost identical. However, rather than having the seams of his suit resemble lichtenberg figures, the seams of his sleeves and upper torso were that of a black skeleton, with bone-y designs over his gauntlets and the fingers an ombre of dark red-to-black. And around his torso were raised lines that looked similar to a ribcage. The edge of his cloak was splatter a dark red as well. And he had a new domino mask that looked similar to the upper half of Danyal's mask, with the outer edges curved downward over his cheekbones. He was briefly allowed to take off the upper part of his gas mask to try on the mask.
The best part however, was that since the suits were made of material native to the ghost zone, they could also be taken off quickly and hidden in a small artifact. It was magic, is what it was. Danyal chose earrings, and Damian chose a ring.
When they got back to the Fenton house, Jazz demands a box of chocolate for her hard work. Damian thinks that's only fair as Danny takes them both out to get candy for Jazz.
+++
But other than vigilante stuff, not else much changes. Danny gets to pull a "Dad By Technicality Rule" card over Damian when he's being a brat. Danny doesn't have his run in with Rift (a ghost who portals him into Gotham) until after he meets Damian/lets Damian join him on patrol and when they get new suits.
My reason? Because I want it to happen after that point in time lol. It also makes the eventual "heyyyyy you have a clone" @ bruce much funnier to me because not only does he have a clone of HIMSELF but also THAT clone has a clone of Damian living with him.
Also when Danny destabilizes for the first time Damian is terrified for his safety. The fentons are surprisingly good at cloning, Danny hasn't had any issues up until this point in time, and that's only because he got hit with a new gun from Skulker that messed up the ectoplasm he had in his dna, which in term fucked with his own DNA.
Danny's destabilization, imo, is not "I cast you with Melt" he's not Ellie, he's not made of 50% ectoplasm. His parents surprisingly knew what they were doing, and he was human. So his destabilization should be unique to himself and different. Thus his destabilization is "I cast you with Compromised Immune System" his body slowly weakens over time as his cells destabilize. He becomes unnaturally frail and sick. Damian calls Ellie for help when Danny doesn't get up after being hit in a fight that he normally, and Ellie helps figure out that he's destabilizing. This is whats gonna happen in OG clone au too, but Ellie is going to be there rather than Damian.
It makes going to Wayne Manor after that slightly more interesting,,,

What is Quaritch reaction when he finds out the Sully's aka Jake and Neytiri both neglected and emotionally abused spider and how under their care almost die because they didn't notice until it was almost to late I feel his hate for Jake would increase because he expects this from Neytiri but not from Jake who suppose to be morally better than him ( like how is a clone of a colonizer a better father to the kid you knew for 16 years)
And also about the scientist since they didn't help ( looking at you norm and max (
Also I feel deep down Quaritch would appreciate tonowari because he knows he isn't father material and even though Ronal scares the hell out of him he appreciates her too because he understands spider needs a mother
anger doesn't begin to describe how he felt about jake, and anger wasn't the only thing he felt, he was sad, he was gutted, he couldn't even put a name on some of the things he was feeling. he was devastated by the very thought of how spider felt growing up. sure he may not have been a good dad, but he wouldn't have let spider suffer like that, not in this na'vi life; in all honesty he wholeheartedly believes that dying was the best thing he ever did for that kid. so now he's dealing with this massive uptick in paternal drive (I think family is so important to the na'vi, that its ingrained in their biological psychology. so Quaritch being na'vi now, has to deal with all those new feelings) has to process the fact that his enemy, his 'moral superior' has mistreated his boy to the point he almost lost him. add on the fact it wasn't even the sully's (at least within in my au) that noticed how sick spider was, nor were the ones to take care of him while he recovered (cause that was mostly ao'nung).
he has some sympathy for neytiri, its clear she never wanted spider, that he was supposed to be jakes responsibility, that if he was her son, it never would have happened. he can't blame her for not being able to care for a human boy, his spawn, he could never expect that of her, or any na'vi for that matter. but he draws the line at straight-up neglect and abuse of his son, at letting him get so sick he almost died, after that, it's pretty fucking personal.
he's pissed at all the 'superior' scientists that got to stay, because if they're so much better then everyone they sent back, why couldn't they take care of his child. why did they subject him to such a life.
the one thing he has to be grateful for is tonowari and his family. he respects the shit out of them, they took spider in, even after everything, even though he was practically a stranger. they took him in and they loved him, they cared for him. ronal and tonowari were protective and went above and beyond to care for their new son. tsireya and ao'nung, though he didn't know much about them, were good kids that did everything to protect their little brother. they had built the kid up from where he lay broken on the ground and they loved every part of him, his imperfections, his shortcomings, his human nature and lineage. it didn't matter to them, they loved spider and accepted him as theirs, just as he was.
they were the family his boy deserved, and he knows he will never be better for spider, no matter how much he changes, how far he goes to redeem himself, he will never be a better father than someone like tonowari, a stern and strict but helplessly kind man. he knows he could never find spider a better mother than ronal, a woman willing to kill and die for her son while also being soft and supportive of him. knows spider has come to need his siblings, the support and protection they offer, to survive. he knows he could never do better by his son, and that's ok.

Venture Bros Time Frame
Based on the Venture Brothers Wiki Timeline and what I could find in the show during my final rewatch before the movie. Like when I calculated Gary’s age, this is not an opinion piece. I pull straight from the source material.
I am not starting from a specific year because we know Venture Bros references current pop culture based on the year each season was released. Various dates documented in the show fail to provide a cohesive timeline. Hence, my focus is on the time frame. I'll be keeping track by noting "Venture Bros Year _" when the series moves into the next year and by referencing years as "000(number of year)" while using dates. I suggest following along with your calendar open like I had to do while organizing this lol.
S1e11 Past Tense - Orpheus predicts that The Action Man will have a stroke in "2 years, 17 days."
Tumblr media
We will start pretty late into the first year, Venture Bros Year 1
S1e13 Are You There God, It's Me, Dean - Takes place in late September 0001.
The episode features Monarch's birthday, which is around late September 0001 when, according to him, "the leaves would be orange enough..." to build his Monarch wings.
The Monarch butterfly migration and the leaves turning can begin around late September in New Jersey.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Very Venture Christmas Special occurs on Christmas, December 25th, 0001, between season 1 and season 2.
While the entire episode was a dream, it was still revealed to be Christmas time. Sally is shown to be pregnant with Rocket. This is important because it solidifies that this episode specifically took place sometime between s1e7 Ice Station Impossible and s2e5 20 Years to Midnight.
Tumblr media
Venture Bros Year 2
S2e2 Hate Floats - The boys celebrate their 16th birthday.
Tumblr media
S2e5 20 Years to Midnight - This episode takes place May 4th, 0002, "...in Rusty's 44th year." In s1e8 Mid-life Chrysalis, he states his age is 43. Rusty must have turned 44 last month on April 30th, 0002. This means a little over 7 months have passed since s1e13. Rocket was born to Sally Impossible during that time.
This means the boys' birthday is between December 26th - May 3rd. I'm casting a wide net because, for all we know, the episodes in between could have happened just days apart from each other. They live chaotic lives.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
S2e11 ¡Viva los Muertos! - Rusty promises the boys will receive something better than their clones as Christmas gifts.
Tumblr media
S2e12&13 Showdown at Cremation Creek (Parts 1 and 2) - This episode spans a month between the Monarch's proposal and the wedding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
S3e4 Home Is Where the Hate Is - The boys state that they are still 16 years old "going on 17". That phrase usually indicates a birthday is approaching, but we can't assume anything definitive. What this does tell us is that a full year has not gone by since s2e2 Hate Floats, assuming the boys didn't die again off-screen.
Tumblr media
S3e5 The Buddy System - Billy says he is 35. Based on s2e12&13 Showdown at Cremation Creek (Parts 1 and 2), we know that he is 35 at least a month after May 4th, 0002.
Tumblr media
Here's where it gets tricky
S3e8 Tears of a Sea Cow - Dean's newspaper is dated May 23rd. I will explore two possibilities.
Possibility 1
Even though I don't feel like the date on Dean's paper is strong evidence as it could be a secondhand thought made up by the animators or a reference to how each season seems to occur in the year it airs, the month of May would line up as the boys had previously told Hatred they were about to turn 17 years old four episodes prior, indicating a birthday was near. If we say we are already in Venture Bros Year 3 and believe the date in the newspaper to be May 23rd, 0003, the boys would already be 17 during this episode because we know their birthday is before May 4th. However...
S3e13 The Family That Slays Together, Stays Together Part 2 - Hank says "...open my Christmas gifts early...." referring to the clones they discovered in s2e11 ¡Viva los Muertos!. Indicating that December 25th, 0002 has not occurred yet.
Tumblr media
Possibility 2
What this could mean, other than an oversight, is that it was May 23rd, 0002. This would make the boys still 16 years old. And everything between s2e5 20 Years to Midnight and s3e8 Tears of a Sea Cow takes place all in one month... but that also doesn't work because s2e12&13 Showdown at Cremation Creek (Parts 1 and 2) spans about a month by itself and we see the Monarchs multiple times in various stages of their relationship throughout season 2.
Because acknowledging the date in the newspaper would not work either way, I feel that it's safe to disregard it completely based on the current information we have. I feel more confident in trusting the writing that came directly from Doc and Jackson rather than the animation.
S4e1 Blood of the Father, Heart of Steel - The Nazis give Rusty "8 months" to clone Hitler. During this time Hank grew out his hair, Brock got out of shape and back in shape, and Gary got dieseled. Somewhere during those 8 months, we moved on to…
Tumblr media
Venture Bros Year 3
S4e2 Handsome Ransom - Billy says he is 37. If Billy wasn't lying or rounding up, this means at least a year and a day have passed since s3e5 The Buddy System. The boys must be 17 at this point.
Tumblr media
S4e5 The Revenge Society - Documenting where this episode takes place for a later reference.
S4e10 Pomp and Circuitry - Brock tells Hank "...you also have to be 18" to dissuade him from joining SPHINX. Confirming that two whole years have not passed since s2e2 Hate Floats.
Tumblr media
S4e12 Everybody Comes to Hank's - Hank asks Dean "How was your summer?" hinting that they are approaching the middle to end of summer.
Tumblr media
S4e15 The Silent Partners -JJ is in space building Gargantua II. This is information for later reference.
S4e16 Operation: P.R.O.M. - In the commentary, Doc and Jackson use prom to symbolize the boy's unofficial 18th birthday, more specifically their ascent into adulthood. I did not take this to mean it was literally their 18th birthday. The latest their birthday can be is May 3rd and at this point, they are nearing the fall.
S5e1 What Color Is Your Cleansuit? - Takes place the day after P.R.O.M. and spans 3 months. A Very Venture Halloween special takes place in the middle of it on October 31st, 0003. We see Gary raking leaves - Fall. Then the compound is covered in snow - Winter. The weather here is intentional to show the passage of time. It is unclear at this point if we have moved on to the next year. There is no mention of Christmas or New Year's. By the end of the episode, it could be as early as November 0003.
Tumblr media
At this point, we are over 2 years and at least 1 month into the series. We started in September 0001 in s1e13 Are You There God, It's Me, Dean and are now sometime past October 31st, 0003. I am keeping in mind Orpheus' prediction of "2 years and 17 days". In the commentary Doc and Jackson state that the Action Man could have considered his health since the prediction which resulted in delaying his stroke.
S5e3 SPHINX Rising - Gary says "Hank is an adult." I took this to mean he had turned 18 at some point. While their birthday may be at the end of December because we had cast a wide net for them earlier, I will assume we’ve moved on to…
Tumblr media
Venture Bros Year 4
Here’s where it gets tricky part 2
S5e4 Spanakopita! - This episode should take place in October. Team Venture attended the wedding of Aristotle Onassis and Jackie Kennedy which took place on October 20th, 1968. Another historical event mentioned was the Apollo 7 mission, which took place Oct 11, 1968 – Oct 22, 1968. In the flashback we see Spanakopita aligning with the Splashdown date, October 22, 1968. This is evidence that the dates are intentional.
In this episode we see Hank in his strength suit, confirming that Spanakopita takes place after s5e1 What Color Is Your Cleansuit? and A Very Venture Halloween special. I feel it's unlikely that they intended for a full year to have passed between s5e1 What Color Is Your Cleansuit? and s5e4 Spanakopita!. I want to make this as accurate as possible so I'm going to entertain two possibilities.
Possibility 1
If we say that s5e4 Spanakopita! was not intended to take place in October specifically and it was an oversight, then I feel safe to assume the warm weather we see after s5e1 What Color Is Your Cleansuit? indicates that we've moved onto spring or summer, still in Venture Bros Year 4.
S5e5 O.S.I. Love You - Hank’s limbs atrophied from wearing the strength suit he found in S5e3 SPHINX Rising for “weeks”.
Tumblr media
S5e6 Momma's Boys - Hank tells Dermott “Last year…” and references the events of s4e5 The Revenge Society which took place in Venture Bros Year 3.
Tumblr media
S5e7 Bot Seeks Bot - This episode takes place in July 0004. We see a flashback in S7e3 Arrears in Science which took place the night before Thanksgiving, November 0004.
Tumblr media
S5e8 The Devil's Grip - Dean says a third of his age is 6 - indicating he is probably 18.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All This and Gargantua-2 - Monarch says Rusty “hasn’t paid his electric bill since June.” We know we are in July or August because s5e7 Bot Seeks Bot takes place in July 0004.
Season 6 starts in Venture Bros Year 4, August or September 0004 because we know Dean had applied and enrolled in the Fall Semester. The boys would be 18 years old—3 years since s1e13 Are You There God, It's Me, Dean.
Tumblr media
S6e1 Hostile Makeover - Hatred says he's "been waiting to do that (hit Gary) for weeks”, assuming he is referring to the last time he saw Gary in either s5e8 The Devil's Grip.
S6e4 Rapacity in Blue - Takes place on October 7th, 0004. The timestamps are in the top right corner of the security camera videos.
Tumblr media
S6e5 Tanks for Nuthin’ - Takes place on October 8th, 0004 the morning after s6e4 Rapacity in Blue.
S7e1 The Venture Bros. & The Curse of the Haunted Problem - This episode takes place the in the days leading up to Thanksgiving, November 0004. We flashback 2 years ago to JJ discovering the Gargantua crash. This implies JJ made this discovery sometime in Venture Bros Year 2.
Tumblr media
According to The Art and Making of the Venture Bros. - Rocket is 3 or 4 years old now.
Tumblr media
Next, we have a clear time span thanks to s7e3 Arrears in Science. It's Thanksgiving, November 0004. 3 years and 2 months since s1e13 Are You There God, It's Me, Dean.
Tumblr media
Time jump to the start of the Spring Semester in s7e4 The High Cost of Loathing, which starts in Venture Bros Year 5, January 0005.
S7e4 High Cost of Loathing - There is a "two months later" time jump at the beginning of the episode.
We are still in Winter Venture Bros Year 5 as of the final episode. In total making the time span from s1e13 Are You There God, It's Me, Dean to s7e10 The Saphrax Protocol 3 years and at least 4 months.
Possibility 2
If we do say it has been another year and s5e4 Spanakopita! takes place in Venture Bros Year 4, October 0004, which means almost everything is pushed back a year. The boys would be 18 years old.
S5e5 O.S.I. Love You - Hank’s limbs atrophied from wearing the strength suit he found in S5e3 for “weeks”.
S5e6 Momma's Boys - Hank tells Dermott “Last year…” and references the events of s4e5 The Revenge Society which took place in Venture Bros Year 3. That would mean this episode would need to take place between October 23rd, 0004 and December 31st, 0004.
Venture Bros Year 5
S5e7 Bot Seeks Bot - This episode takes place in July 0005. We see a flashback in S7e3 Arrears in Science which took place the night before Thanksgiving, November 0005.
S5e8 The Devil's Grip - Dean says a third of his age is 6 - Dean must be 19 at this point and have rounded 6 years and 3 months down to just 6.
All This and Gargantua-2 - Monarch says Rusty “hasn’t paid his electric bill since June.” We know we are in July or August because s5e7 Bot Seeks Bot takes place in July 0005.
Season 6 starts in August or September 0005, because we know Dean had applied and enrolled in the Fall Semester. At this point, the boys would have to be 19 years old. - 4 years since s1e13 Are You There God, It's Me, Dean. Overshooting the 2 years and 17 days prediction by a lot.
S6e1 Hostile Makeover - Hatred says he's "been waiting to do that (hit Gary) for weeks”, assuming he is referring to the last time he saw Gary in either s5e8 The Devil's Grip.
S6e4 Rapacity in Blue - Takes place on October 7th, 0005.
S6e5 Tanks for Nuthin’ - Takes place on October 8th, 0005 the morning after s6e4 Rapacity in Blue.
S7e1 The Venture Bros. & The Curse of the Haunted Problem - This episode takes place the in the days leading up to Thanksgiving, November 0005. We flashback 2 years ago to JJ discovering the Gargantua crash. This implies JJ made the discovery sometime in Venture Bros Year 3 before S4e15 The Silent Partners.
According to The Art and Making of the Venture Bros. - Rocket is 3 or 4 years old now.
Again, we have a clear time span thanks to s7e3 Arrears in Science. It's Thanksgiving, November 0005. 4 years and 2 months since s1e13 Are You There God, It's Me, Dean.
Finally, we have the time jump to the start of the Spring Semester in s7e4 The High Cost of Loathing, which would start in Venture Bros Year 6, January 0006.
S7e4 High Cost of Loathing - There is a "two months later" time jump at the beginning of the episode.
We are still in Winter 0006 as of the final episode. Making the time span in this possibility, from s1e13 Are You There God, It's Me, Dean to s7e10 The Saphrax Protocol, 4 years and at least 4 months.
NOTES AND THOUGHTS
S1e1 Dia de los Dangerous - Presumably this episode takes place on Dia los Muertos, November 1st. Monarch states that he's in Mexico to find his foster parents. Butterflies arrive in Mexico around early November. Because this happened before Orpheus' prediction, it could be plausible that there is almost a year between the first episode and s1e13 Are You There God, It's Me, Dean. It is probably just as likely that Doc and Jackson were not considering keeping to a set time frame until much later in the series.
JJ did not appear in the season 1 Christmas Special. The boys are alive. Rusty was not on his journey running away from the boys' deaths. I wonder if this means s1e13 Return to Spider-Skull Island took place after Christmas. I am also not considering the weather as a determining factor here because I remember hearing about issues with animating different backgrounds in the earlier seasons.
If it helps, I placed the boy’s birthday on the Ides of March (March 15th) to help me keep track of things. It’s both a significant historical date and a 70’s rock band. Plus I wanted them to be Pisces :)
I also stuck the Monarch's birthday on September 30th because that's when Don became Venturion. I think it's poetic.
Tumblr media
Doc and Jackson are phenomenal writers and I’m sure if they were to address this in the show they would find a way for it to make sense that we would all enjoy. I had a lot of fun doing this. I love digging deep into my favorite show and piecing together what I find 💛 Go Team Venture!

Finally home and I can watch the Bad Batch season finale
So you know what’s gonna happen next
I’m about to scream into the void in a post that is probably gonna be mostly incoherent
Anyway, here goes!
Omega including Crosshair ;-; and then Hunter immediately being on the fence about it 🙄 Like dude just admit you don’t want him back ugh. At least the others overruled him
What mission is Rex on? Is it smooching Ahsoka?
TECH AND PHEE you know I changed my mind about them, I think they’re adorable ;-;
I am understanding the Tech stans more and more, man is hot when he’s in his element 😳
I love that dude at the summit who sort of stands up for the clones
KRENNIC AND PROJECT STARDUST NO OH MY GOD
Wrecker putting his faith in Omega but also straight up asking her if she’s up to instead of just putting her up for the job, god the man truly is the only sane one in the batch huh AND HE’S KICKING THE MOUSE DROID
SAW OH MY GOD DFKNFSLDNFRUGNKS I love how we’re getting more and more insight in his path towards being an extremist
Would this be around the time that his Lasat mercenary killed Kallus’s unit?
Also funny how this plan of his kinda parallels the one in Rebels season 4, but then it was Saw who wanted to follow the kyber crystal to its destination and the Alliance that wanted it destroyed
That was episode 15, now on to 16 👀👀👀
TARKIN GIVING THE DO IT LINE AMAZING
Hey you know who would have been extremely useful on this mission? Crosshair! The squad is not at its strongest without him
TECH NO!!!!!!!!!
Omega is me
You know I am not gonna accept it either. Tech is gonna do a Maul. He has to
So they’re giving up on Crosshair?
And they’re back with Cid? Why? Why not go directly to Pabu? Ofc she would betray them urgh
Fuck okay I said before that the Batch needed to experience loss, but I meant like Hunter or something ;-:
Maybe the clones are paternal because their template was, ever considered that?
NO HEMLOCK DON’T CANONISE IT NO NO NO
He’s lying. He’s got Tech detained too. Tech isn’t dead. I am not accepting this
Love how they both immediately know it’s Echo
Well we all knew this season would end with them having to save Omega
Crosshair ;-;
SEE I KNEW EMERIE WAS A CLONE
also
HUNTER YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE
TECH SACRIFICED HIMSELF TO SAVE HIS BROTHERS INCLUDING CROSSHAIR AND YOU WANNA REPAY THAT BY FUCKING RETIRING?!?!?
GO SAVE CROSSHAIR YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE
IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOU

For the make your OC clones suffer questions.
Oh boy there's some good ones. I would love to hear about Dax and Banshee if that's okay?
It's hard to choose, but I'm going with these. Could I hear:
16: What haunts them?
21: What's their relationship to sex? Modesty?
25: Have they tore someone to shreds with their bare hands?
Thank you
I'm so excited to tell you about Banshee, but first:
For Dax too? Oh thank you for asking about Dax'Malkin, he is so complex and lore rich, thank younfor asking about him too ♡♡♡
What haunts them?
Dax: Ready for some lore? The thing that haunts Dax'Malkin most is the lose of his twin brother, Krazus. The two were younglings together with the jedi, twin sons, always together. This made it easy for the Night Sisters of Dathomir to take them together. In a ritual to turn them both dark side for The Night Sister's favor, something went wrong. Dax'Malkin's body was changed, beastial spikes growing from his back, his teeth pointed and sharp, the whites of his eyes now an inky black. But still, his heart stayed in the light. When he awoke, the jedi who saved him told Dax that his brother had been lost to them... Dax didn't question this, thinking that his brother had died in the ritual.
After this, Dax'Malkin has always had darkness whispering in his mind, in his heart. He fights hard to keep it at bay, but the ghosts of his past never leave him. He sees them in his reflection every day.
Banshee: Aside from o66, something that haunts Banshee is his first botched mission. He and his brothers were trying to save some refugees from a war-torn planet, but things didn't go exactly as planned. He was moving forward with a small group of the refugees, taking them from a covered area through a field, back toward transport. He didn't see the separatist forces closing in from above, silent as the night... the only one that didn't make it was a kid. The mother screamed and yelled in pain the whole way to the camps, it was the only time Banshee didn't try to drown out the sounds of the battlefield.
If Banshee were ever to have a child, he'd insist on naming them Jaia, after the kid Banshee feels responsible for losing.
Have they torn someone to shred with their bare hands?
Dax: Yes, and it terrifies him. Once Athena fell and Dax went full dark side, he fucking lost everything. He's killed every single clone in the 404th except for Grave Squad, and he does everything he can to hunt them down for the death of Athena. (Don't worry he gets better and gets a reunion with Grave and Athena its not even an AU or a fix it fic its for real)
Banshee: Not with his bare hands, but he is an explosives expert. He's juiced a few people. But Droids? Yeah, he's ripped them apart many, many times.
Modesty and sex question under the cut ✂️
What's their relationship to sex? Modesty?
Dax: oh for sure this Jedi Master fucks. His view on the "No love" policy is "fuck that. Have objectivity. Do not sacrifice the good of the many for the good of the one. Obsession is not love." For this he would straight up hate Anakin lmao, because Anakin is obsessed with Padme. Yeah he loves her, but he's also obsessed with her.
But anyway back to Dax. He's not like, running around telling everyone about his exploites, but he's open about them when he's asked. His padawan and adoptive daughter, Annika Cree, asked once when she was little, "Have you ever been in love?" He replied no, not romantically, but physically, and has experienced deep familial love. When she was older, he told her about the safety and precautions she'd need to take around sex and relationships, and he made sure to create an environment where she could always come to him for guidance and advice on these things.
Banshee: it takes Ban a good while to finally be intimate with a partner. That's not to say he doesn't have the drive, often he has it right away, but he's very sensitive and docile. He wants to make sure everything is true on both sides, that they both want it, that it's not the only thing they both want, and that sex isn't the end of their time together. Ban's sex drive is very very high, but his need for intimacy is even higher than that.

Uhhh future Clone High AU stuff I guess. :V
Catholicism is a hell of a drug Mr(s). Columbus.
Info about the kids under the cut ↓
Toph and Otto, both around 42 years old now. They live in Italy, Toph has a government job, makin' laws and stuff. Otto is a fashion designer and often has his daughter, Bianca, model his stuff. They're both well-known and well-off.
Salvatore (24) is their firstborn. He's very, very flat. No emotion, no empathy, nothing. He used to also work in more local government, but after a suicide attempt he's been taking time off. No hobbies or friends and doesn't really want any or care. Fully aroace.
Bianca (21) is very... intimidating. She's a lot. Bold personality, demanding, intense. She works as a model and is debating about breaking further into the industry, but it's still very harsh in the year 2065... Straight.
Lorenzo (21) is much less intimidating than his twin sister. He's relatively good with his hands, likes working on things and fixing stuff if he can find it. Soft-spoken and gentle but... somewhat unsettling. Works as an assistant nurse, also straight.
Alfonso (19) is also brash and tough. He's incredibly resistant to authority, hates doing what he's told, loves playing LOUD metal music and working on his own with his bandmates. Very disrespectful, drinks and smokes, too. Bisexual.
Marcello (17) is a ball of anxiety on legs. He tries to catch a lot of the heat off his siblings if there's tension, and is often blamed for things he didn't do. Is very popular in school and well-liked for his easygoing personality and friendly demeanor. Straight.
Ciena (16) is a freak. Completely into anime and cartoons, desperately wants to be a news reporter in her future. Never seen without her cameras. Big, loud and bright personality perfect for TV. Likes hyping people up. Biromantic Asexual.
Dominic (15), also resistant to authority, but much less aggressive about it than his older brother. Resents Topher. Very popular in school as well, with his own 'in-crowd'. Helps run several clubs as well. Complete daddy's boy and wants to make Otto proud. Likes girls, but struggles to call himself straight (he's transmasc).
Dante (12), even more of a freak than Ciena. Special interest in religion and very very annoying about it. Has an unfortunate tendency to police people to follow his own moral guidelines and pray for them if they don't. Mommy's boy and choir kid. Probably straight...?
Bella (12) is trying to hold it together. Desperately wants to be the 'good kid' her parents don't worry about but she's an anxious mess. Gifted, sure, but hot damn would she rather be writing fanfiction than doing her extra homework. Closer to her twin brother than anyone else, even if she's not religious herself. Aroace.
Ella (11) is much like her oldest brother, but doesn't speak. Ever. She isn't fond of communication boards, either. Also very expressionless and empty-seeming, but shows an affinity towards animals. Doesn't define her sexuality and doesn't care to.
Viviana (7) is the youngest and the baby of the family. Often watches instead of does, and keeps notes on people. Often found around Ciena due to their shared love of observing people. Timid, and not often verbal herself either. Unknown sexuality.

I write? 😨
Yes I do write.
I write a lot :]. So, my lovely fellows, I introduce;
Illusions. A pada-wan, codywan and Ahsoka-centred work originally posted on ao3 that I will start posting on here as well.
Here’s the information and starting chapter, and if you’ve read my codywan week submissions, it’s based off of that.
Here is the ao3 link, or keep reading to read the first chapter here!
When Cody was made, it was no normal.. making. Cloning. He was a clone. He had a number. He was a number. Just- Just a number.
That was until Shaak Ti revealed he had been specifically chosen, his DNA specially (and expensively) modified. He would grow at a normal rate after he hit a certain age. Which was fine, well, he would live to see his brothers die but-
He was different.
Different in the way that- Well, he was a force-sensitive.
The only one of all of his brothers.
So when he reached age, he was told of this secret. He was sent off to the Jedi Temple. No one knew how this specific age growth would work, no one knew if his body would react to it well, no one even knew if he was actually a force-sensitive. And, worst of all, no one but the Jedi Council Members, plus Anakin Skywalker, knew that he was a Clone resulted from an army requested by a Jedi who died years ago. He could be honest, he was honest, and he was himself, it's just a matter of time before the secret is out.
If one person believed and trusted in him more than Shaak Ti, it was Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Obi-Wan was still a Padawan at the crisp age of 16 when Cody entered the Temple for the first time. He was only physically a year younger than Kenobi, but still learning and growing. Obi-Wan couldn't help but take a liking to him- He taught him what Shaak Ti wouldn't, allowing him to excel in the Force quickly.
Their first meeting was.. Well, maybe best to start there, and catch up.
**
"Ah, hello there!" Obi-Wan says, double-taking as he desperately tries to keep up with his Master's long strides. He was supposed to be greeting the new Padawan of Shaak Ti's, but of course his Master had other plans. He'll catch up with him later.
"Hello," The newcomer says, curiously watching as Obi-Wan almost calls for Anakin before the Knight disappears around a corner, and he sighs.
"You're Cody, correct? Master Shaak Ti's new Padawan?" Obi-Wan smiles, pushing his long hair back. It wasn’t incredibly long, in fact just slightly shorter than his Master’s. His bangs framed his face but often were in his eyes anyway. It was straight but curled a little when wet, not to mention it turns to a nasty brown colour instead of the bright auburn that his hair usually is. The Council insisted it wasn't tradition for him to have his hair quite this long, Anakin insisted it looked better. Obi-Wan (secretly) agreed, naturally.
"Correct," Cody repeats. "And, you?.."
"Obi-Wan Kenobi, pleasure to meet you," The Jedi shake hands, normally a bow was customary, but Cody was new, he had much to learn, and Obi-Wan thought it easier to ease him into it. He was quite nice looking; vibrant, dark skin with short, pitch-black curls. His eyes were nice, and he still had the boy-ish look all young teens did, but Obi-Wan saw the maturity in him already. His Padawan braid was correctly at length, Shaak Ti had just recently found him. Obi-Wan recalled she found him on a rainy planet, on a farm with his family. He was very strong in the Force, she could not leave him, so she became his Master. His braid bands were appropriate, he had blue for mechanics study and red for piloting and green for the Living Force. Cody didn't have the yellow or red band many Padawans did, he wasn't a Padawan before 13 standard years of age and he wasn't yet 16.
Obi-Wan found himself staring for a moment too much, quickly adjusting his posture and attitude, clearing his throat. Cody looks away, cringing when Obi-Wan chuckles quietly at the flush on his face. He had been staring too.
Oh well, that was a situation Obi-Wan didn't mind at all.
"I'll show you to your quarters, then around the Temple, then maybe I can take you to my quarters for a cup of tea. I'd love to get to know you, I hear we'll be working together very soon," Obi-Wan smiles as they start through the Temple, repeating what Anakin had told him to tell Cody.
"Uh.. Okay," Cody speaks carefully. Obi-Wan just smiles at him reassuringly.
*
"You should have the same quarters as Master Shaak Ti," Obi-Wan mutters, almost as a question. They were walking to the level he knew Master Ti was on. He used to be on that level, before his first Master.. Passed. He'd only had Qui-Gon as a Master for two years, but he missed him dearly.
"Yes, she mentioned that," The younger confirms.
"Ah, alright, then I do know where we're going!" Obi-Wan grins as he keeps leading the other there.
The door slid open, and he helps Cody settle to his bedroom in the conjoined quarters. Obi-Wan hoped he'd be visiting the Ti/Cody team a lot.
"Wait, Cody, do you have another name? Or.. Are you simply Cody?" Obi-Wan seems to realise no one had ever mentioned a surname in reference to the new Padawan. It wasn't necessarily uncommon to not have a surname, but it was still.. well, common.
"Oh- Uh," Cody seems to think for a moment, shuffling his feet awkwardly.
"Sorry if that was off putting or rude. I'm a bit used to being blunt, I guess my Master's attitude has rubbed onto me a tad too much," Obi-Wan offers a caring smile, putting his hand on Cody's shoulder.
"No, it's fine, no need to worry," Cody returns his smile, meeting his gaze. "I'm just Cody."
"Alright," His smile turns to a grin before the atmosphere becomes awkwardly silent.
*
After showing Cody around the Temple, they now sit in the Kenobi/Skywalker team conjoined quarters. Cody looked the most relaxed and comfortable he had been since stepping foot on Coruscant, it seemed. He loved the tea, enough to make a remark on it.
Of course, Obi-Wan made it so Cody would like it. He had been on-edge and anxious the entire time. He just wanted Cody to finally relax. It was a brew Anakin absolutely hated, not for the taste, for the effect. His Master was always gone, always doing something. When Obi-Wan got tired of it, he snuck in the brew in place of Anakin's caf. Anakin fell for it, every time. And of course, he would be asleep in a matter of minutes. Obi-Wan would just smile and haul his Master into his bed, then inform the Council he hadn't gotten up on time, and he absolutely needed the rest. Those days were the worst, because not only did the Council send Obi-Wan in place of Anakin(regardless of severity), he would return to their quarters exhausted. His Master would give him the same stern talk, before ultimately going back to sleep. The Knight slept for at least a single rotation before fully waking again. Obi-Wan was convinced he only woke to lecture Obi-Wan out of pure stubbornness and, of course, spite.
They sit in a finally comfortable silence, Obi-Wan's tea brew being different from his new friend's. He didn't want to put himself to sleep, he had no need. He may add that, while Anakin thinks otherwise, no drugging is involved with the brew. He could feel Cody's signature calm into a flowing, soft amber.
They both startle slightly as the quiet is interrupted by the door sliding open.
"Padawan, where have you been?" Anakin asks, leaning on the back of his couch beside Obi-Wan.
"Master, I'm only doing what I've been told."
"Drugging a new friend?"
The room is silent other than Obi-Wan choking on his sip of tea, clearing his throat quickly and placing the cup down.
"Master, you know very well my tea is not drugged. You just happen to fall victim to the high melatonin levels of the leaves," Obi-Wan calmly explains, again, about the tea to his Master. Cody shifts next to him but says nothing.
"Drugs or leaves, I thought you were supposed to be showing Padawan Cody around, not making him sleep," Anakin crosses his arms, looking down at Obi-Wan.
"I've already done everything I needed to, Master, and Master Ti is far from returning to the Temple. I made Cody the tea so he could relax and be more comfortable. If you had cared to stay long enough to meet him properly, you would have noticed how.. messy his mind was," he huffs as he finishes speaking, crossing one leg.
Anakin begins to speak back, but soon gives up, instead shaking Cody's hand and giving a proper greeting. He retires to his bedroom, leaving the two Padawans to talk.
"So.. Is it actually drugged?" Cody yawns, placing the empty cup down and re-situating himself, now sitting closer to the other boy, intentionally; Kenobi knew not.
"No, it's just a plant that produces a lot of melatonin, you know what that is, right?"
"Yes," is all Cody says before his head falls onto Obi-Wan's shoulder, his signature still there, but duller, signifying sleep. He softly smiles and lays the younger down on the couch, his head resting on Obi-Wan's thighs.
Obi-Wan reads a holopad for some time. His exhaustion eventually catches up, and he feels his eyes droop more and more. He tries to fight it, but his holopad is suddenly on the table next to the couch, and his body is at rest, his mind cranking out yet another peculiar dream for him to meditate on.

Analysis because I’m bored
I’d do a venndiagram thing but it won’t fit everything so you get a confusing list instead
Zuko from Avatar. Hunter from Owl House. Leo from Rise. Tommy from DSMP.
What do they have in common?
a frikcin lot, actually
Leo&Hunter&Zuko&Tommy
16 y/old boy
Trauma city baybee
Has cried on screen at least once
Self-sacrificial tendencies (some more prominent than others)
Mental health in the gutter
What’s a therapist
Magic exists
Angst magnets both in canon and in the fandom
Can Not catch a break ever
Cocky
They all have siblings
Dumbass. Every single one of them. They’ve all done really stupid things.
Sometimes they are in absolutely misery and sometimes they are just incredibly funny for no reason
High key dramatic
“Most people find me annoying at first” they piss off a lot of people and can be kinda obnoxious
Strange creatures exist
Distinct color
Almost fell to their death in a very dramatic scene
But wait, there’s more:
Tommy&Hunter&Leo
No mom at all
Literally none
Silly goofy guys <3
Blonde (look ik Leo only had hair for 1 episode and it was evil but let me have this)
Really wants attention/validation and does some stupid stuff to get it (ok Zuko probably does too but it’s a little less?? Obvious?? Idk)
America exists
They live in a comedy world (aside from the angst) and it Shows

People tend to dislike them a lot despite them not really deserving it? (Like yeah they’re a little obnoxious at times but it’s not that big of a deal)
Their animal friends always die :(((
Worrying suicidal/semi-suicidal behavior?? (Hunter was digging his own grave ok I know it was kinda played for humor but that’s messed up. I don’t even need to mention Tommy boy was fully and canonically suicidal)
Spend most of their time in another realm being somewhat? Aware of another realm but no one really going there until much later
LGBTQ rep in canon (not them specifically tho)
“Aw, they’re finally heali- oop, nope, there’s another buttload of trauma”

Is occasionally the voice of reason while everyone else is being dumb
Feels weak and powerless next to their super-powerful awesome sibling(s)
Main parental figure is a short Asian man with grey hair that is very powerful but tends to act silly. Also they don’t like utilizing their incredible fighting skills unless necessary bc of their Tragic Past (TM)
Tommy&Leo
Your second priority is your loved ones. Your first priority should always be committing to the bit
Humor coping mechanism
Makes stupid decisions for the funni
Really loves their older brother who gives them a lot of guidance (to the point of almost being a parental figure)
They have a main mentor/parental/familial figure that they really love and that loves them in return but their relationship is somewhat strained due to the mentor figure’s poor mental health causing them to inadvertently hurt them

They commit arson and it’s not ideal
Falls into a minor villain arc right when it seemed like they were going to get better, then realizes this isn’t who they are and confronts the person encouraging them to be violent/cruel
Leo&Hunter
Artificially created by a dramatic being with a gold horned mask and nefarious plans centered around genocide and conquest

Filoni is insane cause Clone wars opens with 3 straight episodes of jedi bonding with clones, creating all these cool clones for us to meet and like. The clones and the jedi are friends, they trust eachother and care about eachother. The Jedi makes the clones see their worth and it marks the start that beautiful relationships form. Then they go to Rookies and has a whole episode ABOUT the clones there are barely any Jedi at all. Here you get to see the brotherhood being a clone gets you. It humanizes them all the more. You get to dip your toe into clone culture. For the next 8 or so episodes Rex is working alongside Anakin and Ahsoka. They are cementing them as a core trio in this silly little star wars show.
Only for episode 16 to come around and it’s Slick. A traitor to the republic, his intentions were good but in the process he turned his back on the jedi and his brothers. And for one 24 minute episodes you remember what they do. What happens to the jedi and the clones. In 16 episodes of children’s TV Filoni makes you forget how this ends. He brings it up once in the first season, episode 16. Then sets it back down saves it for later, and in episode 17 we’re on Naboo with Padmé and it’s onto the next adventure.

take ur fav/s between these! :D also very happy to hear ur thoughts(any)
<3
Tumblr media
HELLO MY FRIEND!!!! THANK YOU T-T
I am going to answer all of these because they bring me joy and because I have many opinions XD
9: Anakin killing the Tuskens. Just. I'm not upset about Anakin killing people I am upset that Lucus had him kill these specific people in this specific way for these specific reasons. Like. Come on Lucus. You're the one who showed your ass, not Anakin.
10: Oh boy. Worst part of fanon hands down is the tendency to strip away what little complexity canon gives to the clones. Sure, canon doesn't do a fantastic job with them, but there are Themes and there are Character Arcs and there are situations where the clones are in conflict with the Jedi and when they are in conflict with each other. A lot of fanon tends to ignore that and flatten the clones into a monolith.
14: One thing I see in fics all the time is Cody and Wolffe and Fox and Bly and Ponds as batchmates, with Rex as their collective baby brother. I don't know why. This is not negative or positive it's just something I see a lot that I don't really understand. It's usually sweet. I guess some fic with this hc got popular and other people started writing it?
16: I answered this in another ask but I'm gonna answer it again because there are many things are popular that baffle me. Mando clones. Like, fully embracing being Mandalorian as a community and using Mando'a fluently and respecting all these traditions and beliefs. I have written Mando clones! But I have also written non-Mando clones. And the more I think about it and write about it and look for fic that does not use Mando'a the more I wonder why this is so popular that it's virtually inescapable. Clones wanting to be Mando and wanting to have this culture and this language that could or maybe should have been theirs is one thing, exploring the complexities of what could be called a diaspora is one thing, but I have read a lot of fic where the clones are written as basically Mandalorians who just kinda happen to be in this situation serving the Jedi and it. Hm. Yeah Jedi and Mando parallels are cool but that's not. That's not who the clones are. That is not the role they serve in the narrative. Why are so many people writing the clones as straight up Mandalorians?
17: There should be more fic where Cody and Obi-Wan are not friends. That is all.
18: Davijaan. It's Davijaan it's always gonna be Davijaan I am always gonna be sad that my dude has so few fans. He's so great guys. He's a pilot and he doesn't paint his armor and he's in the background of more scenes than you would think. But jokes aside this applies to all the clone characters who are just there for a few scenes and get forgotten. Fandom shaped Fox and his two minutes of screentime into something great why can't we do that with Boost and Longshot and Hawk and Appo? All these minor characters with so much potential.
21: I said TCW show in another ask and I guess I kinda stand by that, a lot of lists say it's something that needs to be watched but honestly I don't think that's the case. I don't know. I think by and large most SW fans are pretty realistic about the quality of this canon XD
22: So there are two short scenes (if I recall correctly) where they are brought up, but the clones have identification chips in their wrists. I have seen one other fic besides mine even touch that. It's so-- there is so much there, so much to explore in regards to autonomy and personhood and the logistics of desertion. And it adds so much context to the Chip Arc. Of course Rex and Anakin and Windu and Shaak Ti were totally unphased when Fives said the clones had a chip in their head. They already had a chip in their wrist, what's one more? I wouldn't say it's my favorite part exactly but it's... I guess it's another thing fandom is sleeping on. Something from canon that adds a lot of meaning to the story for me, but that nobody else seems to even acknowledge.

Uh, so this is the second part to this post. I just wanted to talk about the suspicious Golden Guard pit from King's Tide:
Tumblr media
I counted 42 Golden Guard Masks in the pit from King's Tide, I'm not counting the skulls simply because I don't want to count every single one of them lol. There's also three Golden Guard masks that aren't colored in that I've added to the count. To be honest I'm assuming every single body in that pit is a GG and not some random witch or demon. Because this "burial ground" is directly in the center of the head, which is considered sacred ground by witches and demons. They don't treat it as a place you can just walk into to have some fun and the only thing there that's of interest is the mirror The Collector's trapped in. Which is hidden behind a door you need to open by solving a puzzle.
If we were to average out the age of the 42 GG's I've counted to 16 at the time of death this means 672 YEARS have passed in total. This number is even greater if we add the skulls to the count. The amount of bodies in the pit doesnt make sense IF Belos was actually operating in a linear timeline, since he came to TBI's in the 1600's.
Especially when we take into account that Belos PROBABLY can't grow the Grimwalkers to a certain age. They PROBABLY have to come out of the ground as infants:
Tumblr media
We also need to factor in that there are GG's who have died from other circumstances and not directly by Belos' hand. Like the dangerous training he puts all of them through to weed out the "bad" clones. We can assume he starts this training when they are around 13 years old.
And there could be GG's who didn't "come out right" when they're "birthed" or just straight up died before they were even "born" when Belos was figuring out how to create them. I'm not sure how long the Grimwalker "gestation period" is. I don't know if it's 9 months or if it's shorter because magic is involved, but Belos still needs to wait a certain amount of time for each Grimwalker to be "born".
A reminder: One of the ingredients to make a Grimwalker is a bone from the "original" person. From the phrasing "bone of ortet" I'm assuming that the Grimwalker doesn't need a piece of bone but rather an entire bone of the original. Like a whole leg bone or one of the bone segments of a finger. There are 206 bones in the human body, so If we operate under this assumption then that means Belos has 206 chances to make the "perfect" version of his brother. This is why the number of bodies in the pit isn't shocking to me, especially when we take time magic into account.
Anyways, we do know GG's have lived past the age of 16. Hunter's comment about him being the youngest scout to become GG isn't entirely false. He's the youngest scout to become the Golden Guard during Belos' 50 year reign. This means that his predecessor was older than him and most likely a 20+ year old adult, since Darius refers to the previous GG as his mentor.
Belos thinking Hunter was going to last longer than the other GG's was because Hunter is the only clone who was entirely obedient to him:
Belos [from Hollow Mind]: I say, "The Titan has big plans for you" and he does what he's told. Unlike the previous attempts.
So like... it's entirely possible that some of those Grimwalkers in the pit are adults. Which skews the numbers even more.
But yeah, Belos is min-maxing time travel to acquire resources for the Day of Unity and Grimwalker resources he might not be able to get in his time period.
Here's how time pools work: Their location is completely random and the time period they connect to is also completely random. And they never reconnect to the same moment in space-time once they close. For example: The particular window of time when Luz and Lilith met Philip will never reopen again, so Luz can't stop herself from giving Philip the Light Spell. And as we can see from Elsewhere and Elsewhen, Luz is never presented with a chance to stop herself from even going back in time to begin with. The randomness of the time pools didn't work in Luz's favor. They also operate a a doorway between time periods, so someone from the past can go to the future and vice versa.
But it's entirely possible that the randomness of these time pools worked in Belos' favor. The inherent randomness of these time pools isn't going to be much of a problem for Belos because he has a way of extending his life if he needs to wait awhile for a particular congregation of time pools to appear. He doesn't need to worry about being trapped forever in a particular time period because he's going to know where the next congregation will be from future versions of himself. He wouldn't need to waste time inventing technology needed for tracking them down or to actually track them down because his future self will give him the exact location of the next batch of time pools. So all he really needs to do is wait.
Because of his longevity advantage he has the opportunity to collaborate with past versions of himself to make his plan come to fruition faster, to tell past versions of himself where to find time pools in the future and to acquire resources for the Day of Unity and Grimwalker parts.
He would also take the resources he needs to make a Grimwalker when traveling to the past if he needs to stay in a particular time period for awhile. He might have even taken a few GG's with him to the past or the future. Again, he wouldn't need to worry about getting back to his "correct time" before the time pools disappear because he would know where the next congregation is going to be. And he has the means of extending his lifespan if he needs to wait awhile for the next congregation to appear.
He'd have the means of extending his lifespan without relying only on palistrom wood. In Hunting Palismen it is implied that people made palismen by harnessing wild magic. The reason why palistrom wood is over-harvested in the current time period is because Belos outlawed the use of wild magic. So he needed to rely on palismen made from palistrom wood to keep his condition manageable. He wasn't going to take a risk and use wild magic to make palismen. If word got out that the emperor was using wild magic, despite outlawing it and even enacting the death penalty for those who practice it, the people of TBI would have turned against him before he had the chance to initiate the draining spell.
So...
It's interesting that there are alot of GG bodies in the center of the Titan Skull, just outside the door where The Collector was kept. That's really weird. It makes you wonder why they're all there and how could there possibly be so many of them.
We know Belos has a teleportation spell that can lead him directly to the center of the Titans Skull, just outside the doors of The Collectors chamber. But why would he waste time luring them to the center of the skull just to kill them? Why would Belos care about being this discreet when it comes to killing and disposing of GG's? I really don't see him wasting time like that. And how can there possibly be so many GG's if we operate under the assumption all of them come out of the ground as infants and they age similarly to humans and witches?
The number of GG's in the pit doesn't make sense if we assume Belos is operating in a linear timeframe. The amount of GG's in that pit only make sense if time magic is involved.
I do think the GG's are smart enough to form the same theory Lilith and Eda had about time pools and how they're created. They would have had access to the resources needed to create the technology to find them by virtue of being Belos' body guard. Some of them could have even found out about time travel from accompanying Belos through a time pool. These Golden Guards in the pit from King's Tide seem like they're there because they attempted to go to the past to take The Collector before Philip has the chance to get him. Or to even kill him before he get's the chance to take the mirror, since we know Philip took multiple trips to The Skull before meeting Luz and Lilith. But as you can see, they were never successful.
Because they are up against Belos, a man who can live pretty much indefinitely because of palismen souls. And he has time travel completely locked down because his future self is supplying information to him. So he'll know exactly where they're going to be and what day they'll arrive on - so he's going to intercept them somewhere inside the skull. It doesn't matter how long he needs to wait for them to show up because he has longevity on his side. He'll wait for them like a cat waits for a mouse to come out of it's den.
So yeah, Belos could be ALOT older than we think he is because he's been utilizing time magic to carry out his plan. The amount of bodies in the pit are a hint to this, because the number of bodies don't add up with the amount of years Belos has been on TBI's.

I don't like it but I have a prediction that Hunter is going to die in the end. He is going to end up sacrificing himself to save Luz, or Willow, or King... or just literally all of the Boiling Isles, going straight up against Belos or The Collector himself.
Hunter, being a Grimwalker, we as the audience do not know what that means for his future or even how he came to be. Did Belos raise him from baby form until he grew up or did he always have a 16-year-old body? He's clearly his own person, has his own mind and soul, but he's a Grimwalker, created from a human over and over and over again, who originally was killed a long time ago. His body is meant to rest, but just like Voldemort, he keeps splitting up his being like a horcrux, persisting in having his own little servant to do his bidding. He's virtually a clone, a shell of a replica of the person Philip's human 'friend' or brother once was.
So MAYBE there is a place for Grimwalkers on the Boiling Isles... maybe there are more like him... but it took Belos ages it looks like to even figure out how to bring him to life in the first place. He probably needed the Collector's magic to do so. If the Collector dies or is trapped again indefinitely... does that mean Hunter will die by default?
I absolutely hate it so much but I could definitely see it happening.

Wednesday Reading Meme for 10-26-22
What I've Read - Omega Required - Dessa Lux (aka, fanfic writer Dira Sudis) - Werewolf Omegaverse m/m arranged marriage romance novel- I bought this in 2018, read 25% of it and then never picked it up again, because I am a fool. I finished it this week and I found the main couple really quite charming.  Beau wants to be a werewolf doctor to humans, Rory ran away from home at 16 with an older man who promised to take good care of him and has some major trauma around sex. It's careful to show Rory's recovery, tho it's a romance novel so he's improving on a pretty brisk pace. Beau is used taking care of only himself and not asking for help so he makes some fairly stupid (but very in-character!) mistakes around his new job. The resolution is sweet and generally hits the points that think a thoughtful romance ought to. I am probably going to read other things Dira has written - this series has a couple of other books, and this is hitting a self-indulgent spot for me. Good world building around how werewolves would function in the open in the modern world.
Wife to the Marines: A Military Reverse Harem Romance by Krista Wolf (reverse harem het romance, straight woman with three straight men) - Well, this book had some great elements? The sex was fun, the character dynamics were a bit spare (perfectly fine for this genre) but what was there felt engaging, the plot was brisk and both acknowledged the silly elements but made them feel emotionally true to the female lead's internal life. I finished it and at the low price of $1, I feel like I got my money's worth. I have definitely paid more for worse.
But, oh man, I am too queer for this book. I am just too dang queer for this book. I literally picked this up because I was curious about the reverse harem romance sub-genre (aka, straight woman with multiple male partners, yay!) and wow, this is just - like, do gay people exist in this world? Do ace people? Polyamory is briefly mentioned but not actually engaged with at all, so functionally, nah. Because I just cannot imagine a world where queer people exist and these men are making the life choices they are making about committed relationships to other men, and having sex with the same woman in a committed relationship, and then like, just not talking about the fact that you are in a queer poly relationship. It's just, like, the most hetero and monogamous take possible on a very queer, very poly relationship. It's almost as if it's a het romance where the dude just happens to have three bodies? It's so fucking weird to see a book go so far out of its way to frame this as hetero brothers-in-arms who love each other? Like, the intense military friendship that is actually a romance in disguise is literally a gay cliche - this one is ours, straight people.
Also, massive trigger warnings for eating disorders shit (the woman is a trainer and runs a youtube channel where she makes "health food" recipes, constantly breaks food into good or bad categories, calorie counting, talks in detail about the weight loss plans of her clients, none of it needed) and also, uh, military kink?  using the American invasion of Afghanistan as a neutral-to-justified backdrop for a personal vendetta? (Dudes, is it gay to avenge the death of your boyfriend's brother under the cover of a legitimate Marine mission while you lie to him and keep him out of the loop, safe at home with your other shared boyfriend and girlfriend?) This was a compellingly written novel full of sympathetic depictions of people who I would not ever want to have a drink with!
What I'm Reading
A Taste of Gold and Iron - Alexandra Rowland - A re-read for my book club. So sweet, so queer, so fun. Deeply good worldbuilding.
Thrawn: Treason - Timothy Zahn - Getting fun and brisk with this one! 55% in.  Hunting Towards Heartstill - Blackkat - Star Wars Clone Wars Cartoon au - marriage of convenience, fake marriage, Mace Windu/Cody - Slowing down because we're crash landed on an abandoned Sith planet and I'm watching Mace be annoyed at Anakin and, well, he's very annoying! I'm going to try and buckle down and get some more under my belt so that I can actually just get past this part. I got stuck here last time too.
Stay With Me, Go Places - cac0daemonia-  https://archiveofourown.org/works/39540420 - "After months of living a quiet, peaceful life on Ryloth, Waxer and Boil must don their armor again. What begins as a rescue operation in conjunction with a bounty hunter becomes a journey that the Force itself seems to have a hand in." - I am really enjoying this ongoing series, the Reconstruction Corps AU, which posits that a fairly minor change in the Clone Wars plot around the clones control chips allowed the Jedi to stop Darth Sideous and save the galaxy and allow clones like Waxer and Boil to retire to little backwaters and build themselves a community.
What I'll Read Next
2312 - Kim Stanley Robinson - Book club pick, long one, too! Bought it since we're probably splitting it up over six weeks Library books: Our Wives Under the Sea - Julia Armfield Maul: Lockdown - Joe Schreiber  The Whale Rider -Witi Ihimaera  Tiger's Daughter - K Arsenault Rivera  Riot Baby - Rochi Onyeuchi The Silence of the Wilting Skin - Tlotlo Tsamaase  An Unkindness of Ghosts - Rivers Solomon
Libby:  Truth of the Divine - Lindsay Ellis Devil House - John Darnelle

There are explosions and gunfire, it's all very macho with homophobic words being unfortunately spouted and the music is not great to listen to, although the action is okay at best and good for a straight- to- DVD film. Point Blank, despite one or two scenes, feels more of a slapdash effort, although I'd still take this over Breakaway. I thought Danny Trejo was a tall, huge guy so it was to my surprise to see him as tall as Rourke at 5.6''. & although many will be happy to see the female victim character not getting together with Rourke in a romantic sense, I felt her role was so minimal she did little in this movie, but to utter a few lines of dialogue. Rourke himself makes for an all right hero, as ripped, sweaty and looking very orange and he does show his badassery on a few occasions, although there aren't as many hits and kills in an action film that I've come to expect. Yet the film itself is generic and the plot is straightforward to follow. The scenes with the villains talking were mind-numbingly bland, the main bad guy is a gay stereotype, who is very flamboyant, Mickey Rourke doing backflips - or is that his stunt double? in one scene, there is what appears to be stunt guy double doing a roundhouse kick. Rourke plays ex-cop & mercenary, Rudy Ray, whose brother is the gang member of villains who take over a shopping mall and they are made up of escaped convicts. The film takes place in Fort Worth, Dallas where a bunch of innocent people are held hostage by a group of terrorists led by a madman of sorts and the lone hero comes and saves the day. I saw this film after I stumbled upon it as a recommendation by a guy named Justin LaLiberty on Rupert Pupkin Speaks Underrated 1998 post of his blog, and suffice to say, it's okay but rather middling also. A late '90s Die Hard action clone movie, Point Blank follows similarly to another festive-based flick, Christmas Rush starring Dean Cain and Eric Roberts.
