"asexual discourse" is so funny cause dude that's not discourse and it's never been discourse. it's not an argument and it's not a conversation bitches are just yelling at us unprompted and then making up people to get mad at 😭

the way I explain that aros/aces aren't straight.
You can only be straight/hetero if you experience attraction (sexual/romantic) to the opposite gender. If you experience attraction to anyone else that does not fit that description, you are lgbt. this means aros/aces and all on those spectrums are not straight. because they don't feel attraction to the opposite gender.
of course, this doesn't mean you can't be hetero/ace or aro/hetero. you can still be one aspec identity and be hetero, it doesn't make you any less lgbtq!
(sorry if I explained weirdly)

the hate on demisexuality specifically when ace exclusion was all the rage is still so funny to me. bitches going "some teenager on the internet made up that term for a character and then decided to use it herself!!!!" as if that was. a rebuttal? like wowwwww a teenager projected an experience onto a character of theirs. that's never happened before. that's so crazy someone made up a word to describe their experience??? yeah dude you should definitely go bully teenagers on the internet about it that seems like the reasonable thing to do. can't let those teens. uh. [ checks notes ] come to a realization about their sexuality and then talk about it

Exclusionists and pick-me type queers miss the point so much it would be funny if they aren’t actually hurting people. I mean it really feels like:
Cisheteronormative society: “these are the boundaries around what is an acceptable way to be a human if you aren’t hurting anyone”
Queer movement: “those barriers are bullshit”
Exlclusionists: “yeah *these* are the barriers Aron d what is an acceptable way to be a human if you aren’t hurting anyone”
Like… the barriers are still bullshit. This is why I think it’s important to not get too lost in trying to give labels clear binary definitions. Big labels are for us to achieve solidarity, micro labels are for conversation, peace of mind, self exploration. Trying to give either a clear cut 100% rigid definition is _going_ to kick someone out because the human experience is a gradient, and in the world we should strive to make, we can still have labels if we want, but we shouldn’t need them, because people don’t need to worry about just showing up with a girlfriend when they had a boyfriend before without coming out as bi first to be safe. I shouldn’t have to give a power point presentation on why me having an adams apple and being a girl makes sense actually. So this post goes out to all my he/him dykes, my aego but actually demi but actually not friends, to all my aces who feel some sexual attraction or a lot, and my bi lesbians and gays, and all the heteroromantic homosexuals and vice versa. Shout out to all the nb people who don’t quite fit into any label or maybe all of them or maybe some but just a little. Shout out to trans people who don’t pass, shout out to trans people who do but don’t want to, shout out to those who can’t pass or just don’t bother. Shout out to everyone who’s just being themselves and doing their best, I know it can suck sometimes, I know there are a lot of loud annoying asshats even in our own community, but y’all are honestly ahead of the curve on this assignment so keep being iconic.

ace culture is doing a group project with friends you are out to, only for them to bring up asexuality and for one of them to explain how they think asexuals are unnatural and don’t belong in the community, despite you being right next to them. so you end up leaving the table and start crying because your sexuality was a very difficult thing to accept and hearing that, especially from another queer person, just made you feel even more hurt.

people seem to have just straight up forgotten that the majority of the offensive/ridiculous "as an asexual..." comments you see added to posts are literally aphobes saying intentionally messed up things to make asexuals look like petty, whiny, homophobes to justify pushing us out of the queer community....

i'll give a fair amount of people the benefit of the doubt but those bitches making polls are not part of that. idk if it were me and i cared about aspec people at all i simply would not publish an ask bringing back discourse that is literally only going to cause issues for aspec people and make spaces less hospitable for them <3

I am once again confused about and flabbergasted by all the effort aphobes put into ranting about something that has absolutely no real impact on their lives.
Y’all waste so much time and effort going “boohoohoo the labels people use makes me angry cuz xyz” but like? Half the time no one asked, and 90% of the time, no one gives a fuck about you desperately trying to defend hating innocent folks who’ve done literally nothing wrong.
Like it’s almost funny. Why u so pressed about people being comfortable 😂 go touch some grass

The fact that you consider passive-aggressive comments to be the "real struggle" just shows how fucking privileged cis ace people are. Maybe talk to an actual queer person and see what they go through.
Oh, so you mean the way me and my non-binary partner who's also ace can get insulted and shunned in the street for being lesbians, which neither of us are, which is kinda adding insult to injury since it's getting our identity wrong on top of things?
Or the fact that most "actual queer people" get representation in media (granted a lot of it is not the best and it's very commodified, I'm not trying to deny that) while I've only seen one actual ace character in anything at all, and I have yet to see any portrayal of an aro person ever?
Yeah, I never got beaten up. But a lot of ace people get sexually harassed as well, or worse, as a way to "correct" them because nobody believes they're a thing to begin with.
To begin with, that post I drew that's probably getting me these kinds of messages like yours rn is strictly representing microaggressions, if I'd drawn people getting beat up or anything similar that'd be a different story, but I didn't, and again, like I mentioned in this post, I'm not trying to equate struggles or anything similar, I'm just saying any kind of aggression, micro or other, is deserving of compassion and trying to be like "others have it worse so you don't have any right to complain" is counter-productive, in my opinion.
...Anyway why am I even trying to reason with an exclusionist, there was never any point trying to talk to someone who doesn't think I properly exist was there
(I definitely have it easier as cis, though, that's the one thing I'll definitely give you. But yeah, no duh on that.)
