The problem with the 'It's normal for siblings to be mean eachother!!' argument used to brush off Edric and Emira bullying Amity is that they AREN'T normal siblings. They're siblings who grew up in an abusive home, with a mother who actively worked to mistreat her family and a neglectful father who cared more about himself and his work than his kids. And Amity was everyone's biggest punching bag ever since she was barely out of her toddler years .Odalia made her to break up with her best friend and Alador supported it wholeheartedly and for like a decade afterwards, she was forced to be not the kid she was but the perfect daughter and student and witch. And instead of giving her the kindness their own parents refused to,Edric and Emira called her names and stole her things and passively aggressively insulted her all the time. They added on to her trauma. No,i'm not saying they should've stopped their parents, they're barely any older than her,but who exactly was stopping them from being nice to her in private?Nobody!Amity had no one on her side thanks to them and as an eldest sibling with an abusive parent themself, their behavior and the way she's never allowed to resent them for it because they started being nice to her after they almost got her killed(the books coming to life at the library incident)is one of the biggest L's Toh has ever taken

"Luz is a shitty girlfriend!" "She lied to Amity and didn't tell her the truth!" "Amity should have dumped her in TTT-"
Dude Luz lied because she HELPED A GENOCIDAL DICTATOR WITH HIS PLAN AND THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO LOSE ALL OF HER FRIENDS ONCE THEY FOUND OUT THE TRUTH!!!!!!
Ya know, I'm pretty sure Amity would be fairly understanding of why Luz lied to her that time cuz again, she helped a fucking dictator and thought they'll all hate her for it. I feel the need to reiterate that.

*Don't like don't read. Post hate and I'll block you*
Female characters I can't stand(both books, movies, anime/cartoons, and TV shows). Reminder I am a female and this is my personal opinion.
Annabeth Chase from the books Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus series.
Tumblr media
She is toxic, mean, abusive(both physically and emotionally), jealous and automatically is rude to anyone romantically liking Percy even before she's even in a relationship with him. She is a know it all but not in a good way. Prideful, and looks down on people especially when their mortals or monsters. The monster part I get. But still. Yes she has a tragic background, but I still don't like her. Especially since the books treat her flaws as female empowerment and not actually flaws that she needs to work on.
2. Amity Blight from the Owl House
Tumblr media
I just find her boring honestly. Especially in the later half of the series when lumity gets together. I love Luz's character, she's my favorite. I just don't like her. Plus she never had a proper redemption arc for being a bully(and yes she was one, she was honestly more interesting when she was a bully). I'm glad teens have their lgbtq representation. I'm bi myself. I just really don't like her or the ship Lumity.
3. Katniss Everdeen from the hunger games
Tumblr media
Both books and the movie. I just don't like her very much. I love Lucy Gray Baird from The ballad of songbirds and snakes book and movie. But her, just no. She's part of the reason why I never fully read all the books except the prequel and the first one.
4. Mcu's version of Wanda Maximoff
Tumblr media
I never read the comics. But the movie version of her. Oh boy I can not stand her. Especially since I'm team Iron man. She willingly joined Hydra. She helped make Ultron, she took a town hostage against their will and never faced consequences for it. She set the Hulk on innocent civilians. She messed with Tony's mind! She brought Vision back to life against his will and gaslight him when he got close to the truth. She tried to kill a child so she can play pretend with someone else's kids. She killed tons of people for very selfish reasons. Yet she acts like the victim all the time.
5. Amy March for Little Women 1994
Tumblr media
Mostly because I'm petty and I wanted Jo and Laurie to get together. Plus she's so annoying.
6. Bella Swan Twilight Saga
Tumblr media
Both books and Movies(no hate to actress Kristen Stewart though, I love her in the movie Spencer) she is such a boring character while also being incredibly selfish character at the same time. More so in the books(though I'm team Jacob and a Jacob Black defense squad member).
And those are all the female characters at the moment that I can't stand. There's probably more but I can't remember right now. Sorry if you like these characters. This is just my opinion so let's agree to disagree.

im thinking of random toh headcanons ive got floating around in my head:
1. i feel like this is pretty much fanon all across the board for the most part, but luz “weak nerd arms” noceda grew more physically active post-boiling isles but the difference isn’t really noticed until she’s in the human realm again and oh hey! that nerd from gym class? luz has got endurance in spades; she’s a regular at free running now. and she’s gotten an offer from the cheer squad to join once she returns but she turns them down. she and hunter go running in the park on the weekends bc luz is now a flexible speed demon and hunter’s kind of glad she can keep up with him.
2. hunter definitely gets into gaming. not just board games but mmorpgs and turn based games and all sorts. does he get into CoD? yes and no, bc on one hand, battling it out with a team with no lethalness involved helps burn out a lot of his anxiety that springs him into fight mode, but he can’t do mics bc his team mates are annoying and rude and will not take the match seriously like he does. he likes leisurely decision based games, like nitw and oxenfree, bc one, exploration and two, lore. the boy loves mysteries so he gets super into video game lore, im talking YouTube essays talking about themes and Easter eggs and pop culture.
3. willow tends to keep her insecurities close to her chest. she likes being the voice of reason and dependable for her friends bc she’s no longer considered useless “half-a-witch” willow, but she’ll avoid talking about her own emotions if she can. she’d rather put her energy towards something more constructive like her gardening and working out, and while her friends do their best to make sure she’s included in any and all bonding activities, willow will internalize. she will speak with Gus about it on occasion, and she feels only a little bit distant from Luz now since she and Amity are dating and she’s understanding, so inevitably she reveals bits and pieces with hunter. as a result, they spar whenever she has to deal with bouts of frustration. it’s shameless how they flirt.
4. since the day of unity and upon their inevitable return to the boiling isles, Gus wants to use his illusion talents in a more self-defensive manner? generally it’s used more for distraction and evasion, but when he starts working out with willow and hunter, combined with input from amity whose magic is mainly combat based, he becomes more flexible with how he uses his illusions.
5. on top of combat, Gus spends his time building his knowledge of the human realm, which goes without saying, but he partners with Eda on selling her human realm products now that they know what things actually are and what they’re used for. human realm technology becomes pretty popular in the demon realm bc of Gus.
6. amity and her father finally get closer. it’s really slow-going, but with her mother out of the picture they’ve gotten a chance to experiment with abominations with honest-to-titan creativity, and not just creating abominations for combat. as a result, they start trying to use abomination clay for more practical every day applications like construction and travel, but also abominations to explore areas of the isles that are too dangerous for normal witches to access.
7. Gus and Matt still help protect the looking glass ruins, and they’ve grown closer in their friendship. Gus is still leagues beyond Matt in terms of illusion magic, but Matt inspires creativity in mischief, so they become a prank trickster duo that rivals the Blight twins. and since Gus loves to express himself creatively, they end up reinvigorating Hexside’s long dead theater program. they are the most beloved theater kids in the entire school.
8. hunter and willow dance around each other for a good year and a half after the day of unity. their friends have a betting pool going on. Hunter fell first, but Willow spent a good while trying to figure out exactly why she’s so attached to this boy. when it finally hits her she adamantly refuses to talk about it, and they are the friends everyone thinks is already dating. Luz is in agony. Amity is amused. Gus is amused. all parties involved in the bet are just eating popcorn.
9. and I only just realized this like a week ago when I was rewatching the first season with my friend, and it’s not really a headcanon but more of an interpretation I guess BUT. but of course, magic is a gift from the isles, which is the Titan. and who was with Luz when she first discovered the light glyph? King. Luz was chosen not because she was destined; she was chosen bc she wanted to love and protect her friends and family. King chose her, didn’t even realize it, because of who she is as a person. because she loves him and he loves her and this realization MAKES ME SO EMOTIONAL TO THINK ABOUT. THE POWER OF CHOSEN/FOUND FAMILY IDC IF THIS DOESNT MAKE PERFECT SENSE IT DOES IN MY HEART.

Hey! Hope I'm not bothering you, but since you already did an excellent take of Luz meeting the Amphibia girls, I'd love to hear your thoughts on what would happen if Amity were to ever meet Sasha.
I’m honestly VERY flattered by this ask, this is such a fun one to me and admittedly I went overboard answering this… But I appreciate the compliment, it means a lot, and I myself love YOUR answers to asks regarding Amphibia!
Sasha and Amity are definitely interesting characters to me! I think one of the key differences between the two, when it comes to either the ‘real’ Amity, or the cold façade she puts up…
…It’s that she’s really not much for social interaction. I’m sure part of the reason is to keep up appearances of being an elitist Blight who has ‘high standards’ and whatnot regarding who she hangs out with, and her own trauma after the Willow incident definitely encourages Amity to not reach out in general, but. Even without her parents’ elitist abuse, she honestly gives me vibes of someone who’d prefer to mind their own business? That cold façade or not, she doesn’t really actively seek confrontation, and would rather mind her own business; Around Boscha and the others she’s clearly distant and tells them not to bully Willow because there’s no point.
And with Willow? The one time we DO see her bully Willow, it’s at least implied –through retroactive revelations- that Amity may have legit been trying to reconnect with her friend, and/or didn’t realize how condescending she was being; Or at least, she THOUGHT what she was saying would actually encourage Willow to be better. She’s definitely internalized a lot of toxicity from her parents and siblings.
Obviously Luz is helping with that, but in the end- Amity comes across as someone who would rather be left alone. If she feels like she’s being attacked or having her space invaded, she WILL retaliate… But again, she just wants to mind her own business and wishes for others to do the same. She only lets in a select few individuals who can really earn her trust, and that trust is something carefully earned and requires a lot of emotional navigation.
Sasha is different- She’s very much a social person! Whilst Amity will snap and get right to the point, that NO, she does not like you… And when Amity DOES have to hang around others, she puts in the bare minimum of interaction and is clearly cold and distant otherwise; Sasha seems to prefer diplomacy! It’s one of the first things we see about her character, in contrast to Grime… Even if she’s annoyed by someone, she’s learned that honey attracts flies, not vinegar! Sasha doesn’t resort to confrontation or putting her foot down, unless she feels like she’s been specifically ‘pushed’ to that point.
Not to mention, she very much seeks out people and friends! Sasha loves her social interaction, and while there’s some potential speculation on how her homelife may have contributed to this… This girl has to surround herself with other people to thrive, she gets energy from social interaction! She’s popular back at school, and captain of the cheerleading squad, which we know Sasha and Marcy aren’t members of- So that involves a close leadership and sway over a whole ‘nother group of classmates.
Obviously a part of her is intrigued on what she can get from others, as seen with the Toads… But in general, I think Sasha does enjoy the feeling of getting to know others, and being loved, or at least adored! When she’s unhappy with Maggie, she makes a point to be diplomatic about the situation… And when Maggie continues pushing her, Sasha gives her another chance, but also adds onto the pressure by threatening to not invite Maggie. So there’s this idea of surrounding herself with others to maintain a sense of control, a certain possessiveness to Sasha here.
Ultimately… I don’t think they’d really get along, alas! Even if it’s Amity as of now, or when we first see her, interacting with either Sasha pre or post-character development… These two likely wouldn’t get off to a good start! I see only Sasha making the first move; She’s a social butterfly and wants to get to know people, it’s good to make connections so you can utilize them! And this Amity Blight, she’s clearly talented and Top Student, she seems pretty cool! Sasha would likely offer herself up, maybe offer to buy lunch for her, hang out, etc.
But Amity? Amity’s used to people like Boscha. She’s going to see the similarities. And even if she doesn’t? Well, Amity comes across to me as the kind of person, who… When she’s approached by others, her mind immediately fires on all cylinders as she starts desperately trying to figure out what this person wants, why they’re here, what their goal is, etc.! She can’t really imagine people wanting to get to know her just because… Again, not only because her abuse conditioned Amity to see others –herself included- only in terms of what they can do for others, but also because I think she just doesn’t understand social cues all too well.
Amity would very much be on the defensive; She’d see Sasha coming in and reflexively put her walls up, become cold and put on a façade. She wouldn’t immediately snap at Sasha, but she’d definitely try to get the point across as subly as she can. The thing about Sasha to me is that she has both exterior and ulterior motives, simultaneously. When Sasha keeps pressing, Amity will likely reach a point where she just exhales, gets blunt, and asks Sasha what she wants and why she’s here, and to just ask or leave!
And, Sasha will be surprised! She’ll be taken aback, but I don’t think she’ll take it personally- She’ll forgive Amity for the bluntness and try to assume the best before all else. I can see Sasha perhaps saying a thing or two, joking around, and Amity interprets it literally, and gets the impression that Sasha is making fun of her… So Sasha tries to clarify that no, she isn’t making fun of her! She’s being honest, she DOES want to be friends! Maybe she’ll try to laugh it off, tell Amity to relax, but it’s just going to make Amity feel like she’s being patronized.
I think it’s worth noting that Sasha is friends with Marcy, and while Marcy definitely seems to have more connections with Anne than her… She’s still at least Sasha’s second-best friend, based on how much they hang around. Marcy is Autistic-coded, and to me and many others, Amity is ALSO Autistic-coded as well. If Sasha knows how to humor and handle Marcy’s infodumping and occasionally literal mind, then it’s possible she’d have the experience to navigate Amity.
Though, Amity is still a VERY different and closed-off person than Marcy. I think a lot of their interaction would be filled with Sasha trying to figure Amity out, see what makes her tick- And Amity is getting all the more uncomfortable and suspicious, because she does NOT like being open or read by others, especially by this girl who probably sees her more as a trophy to collect or whatever… Amity just wants to mind her own business!
And the thing about Sasha is- She’s also a troublemaker. A bit of a delinquent. She’s totally going to give Amity the same vibes as her older siblings, and that won’t be so great… Even if this is Amity as of the Season Finale, I think she’d still be wary, because she at least KNOWS Ed and Em, but she doesn’t know Sasha. Amity is still a person who’s very beholden to the rules, and unless Sasha specifically ‘proves’ herself to her, she’s going to look down on Sasha’s lack of reverence for school. In particular I think she’d react somewhat negatively to Sasha, should the girl casually dismiss Amity’s desire to study, over hanging out with her.
And naturally, Sasha is going to get frustrated, she’ll wonder what this Blight girls’ deal is- She’s trying SO hard to be nice and diplomatic, she really is trying to navigate Amity’s ‘eccentricities’! I think she’d sooner just give up and do her own thing, leave Amity be, as the two of them agree to just mind one another’s business and exist separately. I don’t think Sasha would feel the need to specifically step in, especially since Amity isn’t really a friend to begin with, and clearly just wants to be left alone. Sasha only seems to ‘step in’ when she feels she has a certain hold on others, and Amity is far too distant.
So, Sasha can read the room… She’d approach Amity, want to be friends. Amity gets suspicious and assumes the worst, and even if it’s not the worst she’s just not intrigued in general. Sasha is a troublemaker, and Amity’s trust requires a lot of emotional work and honesty that Sasha isn’t just used to- So Sasha reads the room and leaves, no other questions asked!
…Although, if Sasha WERE more interested… It’d be interesting if she learned what Amity’s situation is like, specifically with her strict parents. I can’t say much about Sasha’s own upbringing, but given her current scenario as of Toadcatcher and how she’s very much overthrowing the authorities to establish her own rule…
I think Sasha would try to pull something off similar to Anne (in a scenario where she REALLY wants to get close with Amity), and try to goad Amity into just ignoring her parents, and being her own person! And while her intentions are good and Amity being her own person is a net positive, I think she’d handle it about as constructively as Emira and Edric, and end up just making Amity feel pressured to get into trouble, be far too dismissive and condescending of Amity’s feelings, and cause the girl to feel like she’s being made fun of and all the stuff she looks up to is casually trashed!
And, Emira and Edric are her siblings. Unless the Blight Parents specifically ask Amity to hang out with Sasha, this girl isn’t going to have any of it; She’s going to snap, and she’ll tell Sasha to back off. And while Sasha might be taken aback and even get a little bit offended, again… She’d rather things go smoothly, and not create unnecessary conflict. I think she’d read the room, and then leave.
Worst-case scenario, she TRIES to ‘step in’ and exert her influence… But really, Sasha has none over Amity, whose family is considered superior even amongst other noble families, and also she has magic! The girl was the Grudgby Captain for a reason. Sasha is going to recognize the situation and see she’s not wanted, and it’s not worth it- No point getting riled up, this isn’t someone close to her like Anne or Marcy! So again- She leaves! Although…
This is Sasha prior to Reunion. But as of Toadcatcher, where she’s clearly becoming a lot more blunt about her feelings, a lot more physical and smashing her way through things? Still capable of manipulation, but also doubting her abilities… Amidst her own brief self-reflection over how she treated Anne? Then, depending on exactly what she’s aiming for here (and to be honest my read on Sasha as of Toadcatcher is a little blurry, I think the show is trying to be ambiguous as to her exact headspace given she’s still figuring things out herself)…
MAYBE Sasha tries to get her way by brute force, but again, I doubt it. Unless it’s something she REALLY specifically needs, I don’t see her picking a fight, because even if she’s getting physically blunt, she’s also being emotionally blunt as well. When it comes to emotions her tactic is to run away and close her eyes, look the other direction- So Sasha is going to deny that this bothers her.
She’s going to insist that Amity’s constant rejections aren’t getting to her. She’s just going to LEAVE, and let it be! It’s fine, what’re you talking about? And if this is engaging with Amity, as of her character development? Same thing, really… Amity may be a bit less cold and dismissive, a little less elitist- But she’s also learning to prioritize herself and to remove herself from situations she doesn’t like. She’s not going to be ready for Sasha anytime soon, probably not ever!
Worst-case scenario, Sasha gets a little TOO personal and straight-forward, trying to give advice to Amity on what’ll make her happy- And Amity will snap. Sasha might feel a bit offended, maybe begin to doubt herself and feel like her charisma and ‘touch’ has been waning… but ultimately she’s going to deny her feelings, shrug, and leave Amity be. Both girls will mutually agree to let the other exist in isolation from the other, maybe stepping in if the other is in trouble and somebody else isn’t already there to help.
…But for fun! Let’s talk about if they WERE friends, by some inexplicable, stroke of fate and circumstance!
Sasha is definitely going to be someone who’s VERY mindful of how Amity functions, what she likes, what bothers her, that sort of thing! She’ll know Amity’s schedule by heart, and she’ll focus on helping the girl calm down, or be less cold… She’d be a more diplomatic voice for Amity! She’d definitely handle most of Amity’s social interactions for her… In particular, I see Sasha acting as a ‘gatekeeper’, evaluating others who are trying to reach out to Amity, seeing if they’d bother her friend or not; And if so, telling them to get lost, but in a way that’s subtle and casual. But of course, if the person keeps pushing their luck… Well, this is Sasha’s close friend, so she’s going to feel insulted, and eventually she’ll reach a scary point.
In general, I would see Sasha as someone who can automatically read Amity, and tell whenever she’s in a situation she’s uncomfortable with… So she swoops in and takes Amity’s place, giving her an out and direction the attention to herself! She’s going to help defend Amity from anybody who annoys her, and she’ll do what she can to support the girl; She’ll probably held lead cheerleading rallies for a Grudgby game or two, although Amity would likely tell her to stop, that’s excessive, and you don’t need to do that! And Sasha says that’s silly, they’re friends after all!
I’m not sure if I can see a scenario where Sasha has control over Amity, though. Again, the Blights come across as more high-class and powerful than Sasha’s family, whatever they might be like. I think she’d be a bit like Boscha to Amity, except a lot more receptive to how this girl feels, telling her that she’s all that and has nothing to worry about; You ARE the Top Student for a reason, don’t let anybody else make you think otherwise! If your parents or siblings are mean to you, they just can’t appreciate you properly! And Amity’s going to appreciate that, but occasionally ask Sasha not to go that far- And Sasha understands, and lets it go!
As for Amity, I can see her occasionally flexing her power and position, in a scenario where Sasha encounters someone who isn’t impressed. During social events, she’ll quietly gravitate towards Sasha for comfort and reassurance, and Sasha will instantly recognize. I don’t see her helping Sasha cheat or anything, but Amity would definitely at least help her with homework and give pointers, though she wouldn’t outright do it for her, she’s still too beholden to the rules for that.
Anytime Amity DOES reciprocate or voluntarily show affection, it’s going to mean a lot to Sasha. I can definitely see Sasha beginning to have concerns over the abuse of Amity’s parents and how they’re indoctrinating her, and how she’d see the Emperor’s Coven as a bit toxic… But ultimately, I’m not sure if she’d be able to do much, there’s a LOT of factors to take into consideration here! I feel that should Sasha try to step in, she and Amity still wouldn’t be that close and Amity may rebuke her…
And because they ARE actual friends, it WILL hurt Sasha, and maybe she’ll take it personally and become a bit bitter. Maybe even entitled, because she’s worked so hard to make Amity happy and protect her, and this is how she gets treated!? I can see Sasha intiating some distance at first, and Amity gets hurt by that and immediately accepts this as her new scenario and doesn’t try going back to Sasha, not because she’s better, but because she’s already screwed up and why would Sasha want to go back to her?
But ultimately, Sasha’s going to come back because she craves social interaction, and in the end she DOES care. I can also imagine Amity and Sasha contributing some toxicity towards one another, as they never learn to actually confront these issues but just sweep them under the rug; Sasha might enable Amity’s tendency to snap and lash out, tell her she can do no wrong, while Amity would just enable and lowkey encourage Sasha’s controlling behavior over others- At the very least she won’t speak up against it.
They wouldn’t confront one another over their flaws, especially since they may not be self-aware enough to even notice them in the first place; And in Amity’s case, she might not want to jeopardize her relationship with Sasha, and it’d go against what her parents taught her anyway. She might be a little concerned, but ultimately, what does she know? Sasha seems way more confident, she likely understands herself better than Amity does.
Due to her lineage, I think Amity would retain the ‘power’ in the friendship, or at least not fall under Sasha’s possessive control… But Amity would still doubt herself in general and not be fully genuine. She’d see what Sasha does as typical things that loved ones do for one another because of her parents, even if Amity wouldn’t really flex this type of control over any of her friends to begin with!
She’s not going to participate, but she won’t speak out either, and that’s going to contribute to Sasha’s own assumption that she knows and does best. Really, I see these two not quite agreeing with how the other treats people, but otherwise not objecting either! If it were up to them, Sasha and Amity would do things their own way, but besides that there’s no point in jeopardizing their friendship over such a ‘minor’ issue.
Sasha would come across as the ‘reasonable’ friend, while Amity is more the cold and blunt one. Sometimes Sasha tells someone who bugged Amity to back off, other times she’ll reassure them, tell them that’s just how Amity is, and then invite them to be friends; While still keeping them from Amity of course!
Amity’s fine with this, she just wants to be left alone and doen’t control who Sasha is without her. The girls at least respect each other in that way. I can definitely see Sasha as someone who can reason with Amity and get her to lower her guard a bit, maybe even reconsider her stance on another person, but that’s about it. Sasha is very much the only person who can really ‘talk’ to Amity. Sometimes she’ll get her to cool down, other times she just steps aside and/or helps defend Amity. It really depends on the mood of the day, the person in question, etc.!
I don’t think Sasha would be able to fully understand Amity. I think she’d try to listen to Amity’s insecurities, try to give advice and understanding. But ultimately she’s someone with her own issues as well; She’s no Luz, who I think would just naturally get Amity to open up and make her a lot happier! And I can see Sasha maybe even scouting out Luz specifically for this purpose, because she seems like a cool and friendly person, and if she can make Amity happy and openly laugh, then she HAS to have her in the group!
And… those are more or less my thoughts on how Sasha and Amity would interact, within a few different contexts! I’m not exactly an expert on either character, all of this is speculation, and I confess I don’t know Sasha as well as others… Especially given her mindset in Toadcatcher, where it seems like she’s still figuring herself out! Also, I apologize for VERY much going overboard in answering this ask… I suppose I got excited, because this is a very fascinating concept to me, and I feel obligated to fully explore it in every way I can, in order to do it justice!

Meeting Like This Chapter 3
Amity groaned as she laid back on her bed and stared at the ceiling. Why did she feel guilty like she did something wrong. She did the right thing, obviously, and what Luz did was dangerous. Besides, it was only school, it would be the same thing as when she had gone to knight school, it's necessary to become the princess she needs to be.
Even though she kept telling herself that, it didn't stop her from replaying the entire thing in her head.
Flashback
Amity was doing her regular patrols along with the other knights positioned around the castle. She didn't find it boring or something worth complaining over, but she couldn't say the same about the other knights. They always seemed to complain and whine whenever they had to do patrols and Amity never understood why. Patrols were just another way to protect the castle and also the royal family, and that was their job, that was the whole point of becoming a knight.
She sighed as she heard another complaint about someone wishing there was an attack so they could really defend the castle. She hated people who thought that way the most. You would wish harm to the kingdom, and the castle just to show off? That arrogance was dangerous. She ignored the knight and everything else that was being said around her as she tried to focus on her patrols and watching her post.
She was only concentrated for about 5 minutes before she heard it. Someone was getting close to her, probably trying to sneak up on her. There was only one person who would even think of doing that, and she groaned internally. Luz was not taking her position seriously, this was her job now, and yet Luz still treated her as if they were kids who could do whatever.
She turned around quickly and pointed her sword directly in front of Luz's feet, she wouldn't dare raise her sword to the princess, even if she knew she wasn't going to do anything.
Luz jumped slightly in surprise before a grin spread across her face.
"Oh, Amity, it seems you caught me again. There's really no sneaking up on you anymore is there?"
"No there is not. I told you a million times already, Knight School was very serious and very insightful. I can't let my guard down for anyone, or anything." She almost added, not even you, but she didn't want to take it that far, and she wasn't sure if she could keep the annoyance out of her tone if she added it, so she just put her sword away instead.
Luz nodded and Amity hoped she did understand, but by her next suggestion she realized she actually didn't.
"Well can you take a quick break? I wanna show you something?" She asked with a very familiar grin.
"Luz, no, I don't have time."
"Come on Ams. It won't take too long."
"When it comes to you that could range from 30 minutes to several hours."
"Don't you trust me anymore?" Luz asked with a small pout and Amity opened her mouth to respond before closing it again. She didn't want to hurt Luz's feelings by saying the wrong thing so she wasn't exactly sure how she was supposed to respond and say she wasn't going with her.
Her silence stretched for a few seconds and Amity watched as Luz's expression fell and although she kept her outward appearance she still felt herself panicking slightly. She did not want to hurt her feelings, that's why she didn't respond in the first place!
"Miss Blight!" She found herself jumping when she heard her name from behind her and she quickly turned around to see her commander glaring at her. She lowered her head while he approached.
"It seems you were distracted by the Princess again. I understand that patrols may not be very fun but it was your assignment. You don't see anyone else slacking off do you?" He asked and Amity took a deep breath.
"No I do not sir."
"Exactly. Do you think just because you're from a noble family, and because you're friends with the princess that you should get special treatment?"
Amity could feel her face heat up at the accusation. No one around her was happy about her choice to become a knight. Every time she did anything it always traveled back to her nobility.
"No sir." Her voice came out a bit quieter and she could hear a few snickers behind her.
"Good, then don't let it happen again."
"Yes sir." She finally lifted her head when he walked away and she turned back to Luz before facing her post again with a neutral expression.
"I didn't mean to get you in trouble-"
"I know you didn't. Just like you didn't mean to the last several times, but the thing is Luz, I have responsibilities as a knight, and..." She stopped herself again. She couldn't say it, Luz wasn't just her friend anymore. She couldn't continue looking at her this way, that was the problem in the first place. She kept treating Luz like a friend and not like the princess.
She swallowed before steeling herself. "Your highness I have a job to do. Please allow me to do it without any distractions." She didn't face away from her position, not wanting to see Luz's face.
"Wait, Amity, you don't have to-"
"Please." She allowed herself to let her emotions out in the one word and she knew Luz had backed off. She took a few deep breaths and placed her hand on her sword just to keep herself steady. She wasn't going to use it, but at the moment, she needed the stability.
------------
It wasn't until meal time the next day did Amity even see Luz again. She had a whole day to feel guilty about the way she treated her and she would completely understand if she was ignoring her for it. Only turns out that wasn't the case.
Amity was going to her table with the other knights in her usual squad when she just happened to look up and make eye contact with Luz at the door. She was waving her over and Amity felt conflicted, maybe she wanted to talk about yesterday? Yea, Luz deserved an explanation at least. She sat her food down at the table and came up with an excuse before leaving to follow her.
Luz ended up leading her a bit of a distance away from the canteen, and they were actually pretty close to the garden before Luz finally stopped. It was obvious she was going to speak when Amity beat her to it.
"Luz, I'm sorry about yesterday, I was embarrassed and I guess a small part of me was upset at you because I felt like it was your fault that I got distracted, but it wasn't. I shouldn't have tried to use your position against you just because my commander used mine against me. So, I'm sorry." Amity wasn't sure what she was expecting, but Luz didn't respond for a minute making her bite her lip. Did she not accept the apology? That would be... understandable, but it would still hurt.
"Amity, please calm down, you look like you're going to be sick." Luz smiled at her softly for a quick second before she dropped it. "Actually I thought I was the one who had to make it up to you. I can't stop being a princess and you can't help that you were noble born, but I wanted to remind you why we were friends in the first place!" Luz looked excited again and Amity's eyes widened.
That was not something she wanted to hear. When they were kids they did very reckless and crazy things, that's why they were such good friends because they bonded over their desires for more, and for adventures, and for things that they read in story books.
"Luz, please tell me you didn't do something crazy."
"I...didn't do something crazy?" She said it more like a question and Amity would've hit herself in the head if her gloves weren't armored.
"Luz, please."
"Come on, let me show you!" Luz pulled Amity out to the garden but deep into it, near where they used to play as kids. Amity felt herself slightly calming down as she went through some memories in her head. It felt nice to reminisce. That feeling didn't last when she heard noises coming from the direction they were heading towards.
"Luz what was that?" She asked quickly and quietly while placing her hand on her sword handle.
"Calm down, it's just your surprise." Luz still seemed excited but although Amity didn't ask again, she also didn't move her hand from her sword.
When they finally reached the spot Luz smiled widely and moved out of the way so Amity could see it.
"Is that a griffon!" She yelled in panic and in turn the creature recoiled and roared at her, which made her pull out her sword and push Luz behind her.
"Amity put it away, she won't hurt you!"
"Luz this isn't a game, it's a wild animal! You don't know what it will and won't do!" She yelled back at her. She swallowed and stared the creature down, but she noticed that it really wasn't doing much. It's wings were up and the feathers seemed to be ruffled along with it's glaring eyes, but Amity could tell now that she was looking at it, that it was in a defensive position.
"Amity, please trust me, she's safe." Luz whispered near her ear from behind her, and Amity immediately blushed from the sudden closeness that she didn't even think about before, but she couldn't focus on that.
She started to slowly lower her weapon and watched as the griffon seemed to slowly become less tense, but before either of them could completely calm down  it seems they simultaneously heard noise coming from the side. The griffon immediately tensed back up and faced that direction while Amity quickly pulled her sword back into it's original positioning and not looking away from the griffon.
A second after the noise it seemed a bunch of guards appeared and surrounded the griffon. Amity could tell the creature was panicking, but what could she do, especially now that everyone else was here. She stepped back and because of their positions, Luz did as well, when she noticed her commander coming over.
"Blight! Well done keeping the princess safe, we immediately knew what was happening and came to help, but get the princess out of here, we'll handle the beast." Amity swallowed thickly because she could feel Luz suddenly grab onto her armor, she was probably watching the other knights that were trying to subdue the griffon. Amity couldn't even look, she instead decided to block out the screeches, yells, and roars while pulling Luz away from the scene and back into the castle.
When they were back inside and couldn't hear the fighting anymore is when Amity finally let go. Luz wasn't even resisting she just seemed to have followed her but her expression gave away her heartbreak.
"Luz, I..." Amity wasn't sure what to say once again.
"No matter what I do... I always seem to cause trouble don't I?" She asked quietly before she started to walk away from Amity. She felt her arm reaching out but she pulled it back and decided to give her some space, besides, she also needed time to think. She knows she was just doing her duty, but that griffon really seemed defensive and it probably wouldn't have hurt them... but she knows that the knights don't know that, and it was probably too late anyway. With that in mind, Amity lost her appetite and just went to her quarters instead of going back to the canteen.
----------
"I want to know how the griffon got onto the grounds Luz." Luz was standing in front of her mom, who was staring down at her. It was obvious that this was different from other times when Luz did something wrong, or caused an accident.
"I'm sorry mami." Luz couldn't even look up at her and the queen sighed.
"Sorry doesn't change the fact that 6 knights are currently severely injured." She added and waited for Luz to say something else, but she didn't.
"Do you want to at least tell me why?"
"I... don't." Amity felt her chest constrict when she heard this. Was Luz trying to protect her right now? She should be more worried about herself, she has to know about all the talk around the castle. Most of the castle's staff was already hoping she would get sent away to that reform school, and this probably would be the point when her mom agreed, why would she try to hide it?
Amity watched as the queen's expression changed. She looked extremely sad, and she knew what was coming.
"Then, I suppose I don't have a choice do I. I'm sending you to the reform school."
"I understand, I'll start packing." Luz didn't even wait to be dismissed before walking out the room. Amity couldn't help but look at Luz as she left but she regretted it because it seemed to be the same expression she had earlier, pure heartbreak.
----------
The queen did offer Amity the opportunity to escort Luz to the reform school, but she declined. She wasn't sure if she could handle it. Feeling guilty was bad enough, but it would feel like she was abandoning Luz somewhere she knew the other girl didn't want to be. She couldn't take that kind of guilt on top of everything else, so here she was, on her bed, staring at the ceiling, feeling extremely guilty.

Amity has never been happy and has always been alone since she was born, especially after what happened between her and Willow. All she wanted was a better future that would make her happy and a real friends who she can laugh with and grow together with, but they keep being taken away. Amity couldn't stand Boscha and her gang and didn't have any actual friends; she only hung out with them superficially under Odalia's influence. Even though she didn't like being forced to join the Emperor's Coven, Amity hoped that if she had to do it, she might as well try to get something good out of it, like love and respect from everyone. But, ironically, that never would have happened at all. When Luz came around and befriended her, Amity's life got a million times better and she was actually happy for the first time in literal years. Same as the one with Luz, Amity didn't wanted Boscha and her gang to find out about her true friendship with Willow, cause she was supposed to not be associated with those considered beneath the Blights, and because if Boscha found out they used to be friends, she would bully Willow even worse than she already did. But when she regained her friendship with Willow thanks to Luz's support, Amity has finally ended her forced association with Boscha and her gang. Boscha was not fully aware about Amity being blackmailed by Odalia until presumably during the timeskip in the finale, in which they probably became friends for ACTUAL this time.

There are many people who fail to fully understand Amity's character, backstory, and her intentions when it comes to her pretending to be a bully and don't even bother recontextualizing everything after Understanding Willow. This lack of understanding can be attributed to various reasons, such as not paying enough attention to the details, taking everything they see on screen at face value, or simply misunderstanding the complexity of her character.
Amity has been putting on the act and façade to hide her true self and pretending of looking down on Willow and maintaining her family's image, which she hated doing but had no choice. She wasn't bullying her, just being mean and condescending to her, and the reason she did that was to keep up appearances in front of Odalia who expected her to treat Willow as lesser than her and in front of people like Boscha and her friend group. Boscha on the other hand WAS an actual bully to Willow, which Amity couldn't stand but she had to pretend not to care and keep up the act. Amity told Willow at her birthday party they couldn't be friends anymore, it was a lie of course, but since Odalia threatened Willow, Amity had to make it look real, and because she had to be convincing, not just to Willow but also to Odalia, so she would never make good on that threat. The reason Amity PRETENDED to be mean to Willow is that because she knew if Odalia ever found out Amity still cared about Willow and being friendly with her, then Odalia would follow through on her threat to get Willow expelled from Hexside. Amity is and was fully aware she hurt Willow, she just couldn't do anything about it before, and does feel guilty over her.
The ONLY time Amity was GENUINELY mean was when she was rightfully angry with Luz for helping Willow cheat at her school assignment and getting her sent to Principal Bump's office. Amity DIDN'T try to dissect Luz. She was just trying to force Luz into revealing she wasn't an abomination. What she wanted was to prove Willow cheated. Luz wasn't tied up or anything, if she didn't want to get stabbed all she had to do was... move out of the way. Amity wasn't actually TRYING to kill Luz during their duel, it's just Amity was being aggressive and since Luz wasn't a natural born magic user like Amity, she was in danger of BEING KILLED, cause she had no innate magic to properly defend herself with.
Same as the one with Luz, Amity didn't wanted Boscha and her gang to find out about her true friendship with Willow, cause she was supposed to not be associated with those considered beneath the Blights, and because if Boscha found out they used to be friends, she would bully Willow even worse than she already did, so Amity tried to burn the photo memory of their childhood friendship.
While in Willow's mind, the real reason Amity didn't wanted to fix the memory of her friendship with Willow is that she didn't want Luz to find out, because she was afraid Luz would judge her especially without the proper context and thought she'd end up losing another real friend.
Despite fixing Willow's mind and regaining her friendship with Willow who understood and forgave her, Amity still felt bad about what happened, both the part with Odalia and the fact that she almost burned up Willow's brain trying to hide it, she knows Willow isn't angry anymore, but she still felt bad that all that stuff still happened because she was afraid to let Luz and Willow know the truth.
In Follies at the Coven Day Parade, Amity said "I'm glad we can be like this again", what she trying to say was that she wanted to make things be the way she and Willow used to be when they were kids, as shown in Labyrinth Runners where she kept getting in Willow's way because of it. She just wanted their friendship to be like it was when they were kids, which Willow stopped smiling cause she wasn't sure things could like they use to.
