Also Laz opening a door in the dungeon and seeing a direwolf and gaggle of barbarians who did not seem thrilled to be disturbed only to pause for a beat before asking ".....Y'guys seen a big glowing lady?"
Was both PEAK d&d and ALSO actually character growth for him, if you can believe it

we need to abolish the idea that ancient greek myths and legend have a coherent timeline. they do not. for any given myth there are like 10 heroes mentioned that feasibly could not have been adults or even alive. herakles keeps showing up in places where he should probably be dead. anyone could be a suitor of helen. even herakles. even theseus if you count that kidnapping stint he did. nestor is alive for 10 billion years. time is fake and anything beyond vague generational outlines is conjecture

My biggest beef with the way Annabeth was written in the show is that I think Rick fell into his own trap. Like his whole thing with Annabeth is that just because someone doesn’t look smart doesn’t mean they aren’t. And while it’s about their literal looks for both the show and the book, book Annabeth also sometimes acted in ways that people wouldn’t stereotypically associate with “smart” because I think we’ve all be condition to think bbc sherlock no emotions genius is the only way to be smart. Book Annabeth acts super flustered around Luke because she's a kid and she has a crush on him, she's afraid of spiders, and wanted to see the arch just because she thought it was cool. In general book Annabeth is allowed to be sillier and have a wider range of emotions than show Annabeth without it detracting from the fact that Annabeth is smart. I find this whole "stoic genius" idea is often used to put down teenage girls for being dumb and superficial just because they show emotions and the only way to beat it is to be cold, calculating, and emotionless and most people just aren't like that.

Imagining YN’s role in the war.
They might not have knight training nor magic but they have dealt with Overblots, and with that came certain skills and expertise.
Such as learning how to bandage and treat wounds, learning advantage of terrains, hiding when needed, helping with supplies, cooking, and at times even tactical input.
Of course, at first, they wouldn’t be trusted just like Silver and Sebek.
Grim’s voracious appetite and attitude another factor, but everyone helped in their own ways.
You included.
What surprised the fae army, to an extent, even your dream companions was the way you handled General Vanrouge.
His surly attitude was different from the Lilia you knew and loved, but his subtle actions gave way to the fae he will become.
Besides, you knew how to handle stubborn men. You spent enough time at NRC to get some handle on it.
The fae army and co watched as you pulled their surly General to the main campfire.
You two bantering at each other all the while. A few of them choked on their meals as you stuffed a spoon laden with a healing potion into his mouth before taking his arm and slowly unclasping the bands of his armor.
You told Silver to get you the needed supplies, who then scrambled to quickly retrieve them.
The soldiers under General Lilia Vanrouge knew him well, knew he was more than capable of breaking free of your hold and running off if he wished to.
You? A measly human? Had no power to one of the strongest in their land.
And yet.
He didn’t.
In fact, it seemed like a part of him enjoyed it.
No one would tell it to his face for fear of repercussion.
But they knew their General, he could be…oblivious at times, especially when it comes to the matters of the heart.
So they watched this game that played out in front of them, it was rather entertaining.
Some even started a betting pool for when he would realize his feelings, even Sir Baul Zigvolt joined.
You might not have magic nor were you a knight, but you were able to handle their General Vanrouge when only a few could before.
That was enough to earn their respect.

Jason's approach to Nico is actually SO tactful and empathetic. He is super emotionally and strategically intellectual + he is canonically an expert at reading body language because of lupa + he also observes people a lot, so I'm not surprised.
He called Nico out and told him to stop hiding in the shadows and pushing people away, but simultaneously reassured him that he was willing to be nicos friend. He gave nico a blunt reality check on what he's doing, but wasn't rude about it.
He never told anyone nicos secret, not even his girlfriend, and was very patient with him even after he lashed out. And after their friendship evolved, he was STILL very tactful and sought consent before he hugged Nico. He never forced or guilt tripped nico into staying at camp, and respected his decision if he wanted to leave but told him he'd always be welcome in both camps.
He also went to Nico's cabin simply to check on how he was doing and reassure him that he'd always be there for him no matter what (kind of like how he went to piper's room on the argo ii to check on how she was doing even though HE was the one who got stabbed by a sword like 5 mins ago lol-)
And that little scene where Jason got excited after nico said he's staying and just overflowed nico with plans on what they could do (like sing in campfires) but immediately apologized for overwhelming nico so much , while assuring him that they didn't have to do all that if nico didn't want to, and that he's just glad nico was staying.
Ugh jason grace the man you are

i really don't get celegorm's death put into full perspective until i remind myself that he is older than the human race, and the person who killed him was the son of... not even one of the earliest humans. he had many, many, many, many times dior's life experience. hell he had many, many, many times the life experience of dior's father. and dior still killed him. that's embarrassing

semi-dark king merlin au, someone from ealdor tells king cenred about merlin and he is captured and held as a slave in essetir. since merlin despises captivity and servitude, he’d rather be dead and free than alive and in chains so he acts out and pisses people (especially the king) off so they’ll think him too much trouble and kill him. at first they stick to beatings until merlin manages to get his chains around a few necks and now has a body count so they kill him…..only he wakes back up a few hours later and king cenred is Intrigued and keeps him close. merlin keeps acting out but no matter how many times they kill him, he won’t stay dead. merlin has this moment after waking up perfectly fine after his twenty seventh death where he is hopeless and believes there to be no escape, not even thru death. a few other sorcerers in chains come and help him clean up and give him a lil peptalk, realizing him to be emrys, and then they revolt and take over the kingdom and crown merlin as king and now uther is like “wtf” bc his neighboring kingdom who was kinda sorta on his wavelength about sorcery, though uther did not approve of keeping them alive, is now a kingdom ruled by magic. he goes to war with them but with magic running free and fucking emrys on the throne, they don’t make a lot of headway. anyways merthur meet on the battlefield, enemies to lovers, you get it

I wanna see the 'hot' alignment chart but with genshin
i did have to change a few of the category titles just to make them more accurate, but i think i got the gist of it. genshin has a much more limited hotness range (since there aren't going to be characters in a gacha game with //no// redeeming/cool qualities), but there are some purely aesthetic differences. genshin also does have a tangential but entirely separate cute spectrum for characters like venti and xiao, but that was not touched upon in this particular illustration.

One thing I really want to see happen in Season 4...
Valdo Marx: Nice to see you again, Joseph!
Jaskier: *Heavy sigh* That's -
Yarpen: *Stepping in front of him protectively.* Julian Alfred Pankratz to you, you dying sounding beached whale! Only his friends call him Joseph!
Jaskier: Ah, actually, that's Jaskier.
Yarpen: *Dismissively.* Yeah, I KNOW.
Jaskier: *Getting all teary eyed.* I know you do.
#The Witcher#Jaskier#Yarpen Zigrin#Their friendship is legendary#Valdo Marx#Their rivalry is a legendary#Does Valdo know Jaskier is a honorary member of a fierce dwarven mercenary company yet?#No but seriously I kind of headcanon that the reason Yarpen is so pissed at continuously being reminded that Jaskier's named#Julian Alfred Pankratz#Is because he noticed that Geralt and even Yennefer were calling him “Jaskier”#While Jaskier introduced himself to Yarpen using his whole freaking name!#Jaskier just wanted to be respectful and polite#Yarpen took it as a desire to put some emotional distance between them and imply he hadn't earned the right to call him by his#Chosen / preferred named#And then despite all they went through together on that mountain and claiming to be a friend#Jaskier still continues to insist on introducing himself using his full bloody name!#Like what does a dwarf have to do to get some familiarity and recognition of kinship from that bloody bard?#But then Jaskier puts his life on the line to help Yarpen's men...#And Yarpen realizes that Jaskier cares enough to take an arrow to the back (or to the lute at least) to keep them safe..#He's not a warrior that revels in the rush of battle!#He's just a scared bard rushing headfirst into the fray just because he wants to help any injured dwarves#Even if that means potentially sacrificing himself...#So maybe human customs are weird...#Maybe Jaskier has been waiting for *HIM* to start calling him “Jaskier” and officially signal the start of a friendship...#Maybe that formal introduction wasn't a slight on Jaskier's part and that overgrown puppy of a bard has been waiting for Yarpen to finally#adopt him like an idiot!#And so Yarpen chooses to skip the formalities and go straight for “thank you JASKIER” to make it clear that he does consider him a friend..#My Posts#My thoughts#In tags form

I see peoples belief that Aguefort "loves The Seven, couldn't care less about most other parties (including The Rat Grinders), and actively dislikes The Bad Kids" and raise you:
He loves and respects The Seven in the closest way Arthur Aguefort is physically capable of approaching towards a sensible mentor figure (which is still not very much)
He is neutral towards most other parties
AND he loves The Bad Kids except he is doing so in the way that an absolutely unhinged friend of your parents who calls himself your uncle cares for you (he is sleeping off a hangover on your couch, eating all your snacks, and engaging you in psychological warfare but also he has some wild stories to tell you while taking you into the woods and teaching you how to throw knives (if you promise not to narc on him to your parents))

remembering the time i got the cops called on me at 6 years old because a classmates mom didnt like that i was collecting the shiny rocks on the ground that fell off the church
🧍‍♂️ adults that need to hurt and put children in a state of harm to "teach them a lesson" are fucked up.
man that's insane :/ but not surprising to me at all because i almost got kicked out of high school in my first year for being "too antisocial". like they literally called my parents in and suggested moving me to another school because if every single other kid didn't like me i was clearly the problem because that's definitely how social ostracization works. i kind of understand the logic because obviously they couldn't get rid of every other kid, so asking me to leave might have given me a better chance elsewhere. but they blamed the entire situation on me because they didn't want to admit they were incapable of or just didn't care about trying to help me, so as you can imagine that didn't go down too well.
