I'm so curious, queer people for whom English is not their first language and/or who didn't grow up in a majoritarily English speaking place, what is your relationship to the word queer?

artists took a segment from "Catfish, Saint, and the Shape-Changer" the 14th episode from the 1978 series Saiyuki or better known as "Monkey". It is nearly 50 years old and while I shall say the English voices are a lil dated the artists have captured the charm and humor that made the series so popular in the first place! It is creative, it is inspiring, it is so glorious to see so many different artists show how much Xiyouji means to them and how they see this funny and strange group of monks together on their holy pilgrimage. It really captures just how beloved not only the show was but how even today JTTW is for any generation and transcends time to still be going strong after 400 from Wu Cheng'en's official release!

If you have 30 minutes to spare, please give it a watch! This an ENTIRE episode so please enjoy!

Cursed Memories

Johnny, son of the witch who cursed Gotham and Kitty, daughter of Carmine Falcone were curious about what happened to their city after they both died. Kitty consistently refused to go to Gotham because she saw no point in reminiscing.

However, Johnny was a completely different case. While Gotham was known to be full of curses, they were moderately "controlled" before, but after one of the families went after Kitty and he died as a result, his mother became enraged, cursing Gotham to the point of no return and creating a city spirit.

After much pleading, Kitty finally agreed and they both headed to Gotham. Carmine Falcone who was arguing with Salvatore almost fainted when he saw his daughter smiling in his office. Since she had been convinced to return, Kitty had some plans for those who dared to kill her before her engagement.

On the other hand, Johnny dedicated himself to walking through the streets of Crime Alley, his former home. Being followed by Gotham's spirit and a shocked Red Hood who could see the shadows moving around the blonde, things getting destroying in his path.

A war between the families was about to take place thanks to the ghosts, and no one was prepared.

I had kind of erased the fact from my mind that for a time in the Snyder Justice League run Bruce took care of a little Starro, dressed him up as a Robin and cared for him like he was a son while he also apparently couldn't be bothered to get off his ass and check in on where the hell Damian was and what he was doing for pretty much a year of Damian's life.

I rewatched and reread this arc VERY recently #so... he killed Kurogiri with a punch like the one he did in USJ and again to save Izuku #I don't care honestly.#I reread this chapter and I cried again bc I REALLY refused to believe that Kurogiri died then #but he did with a death words to Shirakumo's friends and recall of old chapters #even if people want Tenko alive I doubt that Kurogiri will ever materialize again #and I'm deadly serious when I say that this is the worst part of this chapter #I worried for Kurogiri's existence ever since it was revealed that Shirakumo is in there #but that literally took FIVE YEARS TO APPEAR AGAIN HAVING AN IMPORTANT ROLE #and he left while crumbling just like Tomura's body before Katsuki hit him #and the last thing he thought about was about protecting Tomura even though he was partly Shirakumo's dead corpse appearing more and more #even Mic now understood that it's really is him in a way ending his arc from back in Tartarus with Aizawa #and you know what's worse??? the concept of the slur replacement project feels a bit like historical revisionism? especially considering how much i see people recommend it as the recommended way of reading homestuck. it's sanitizing down the more unpalatable bits of homestuck to make it seem more friendly and wholesome (which seems incredibly common among homestuck fans in general, especially among those who like to pretend the epilogues never happened, which is a whole other discussion i won't get into rn), and that just feels weird. not to mention the execution of it is very poor in general. the "future arachnids grip" joke is funny actually, and the change they made to make it "later arachnids grip" not only makes it a weaker joke (as it was initially a play on how the concept of gayness isn't really a thing to trolls), but also introduces an inconsistency in the writing, as it only does this change for vriska, drawing more attention to it. there's also a fucking... random bit where iirc for one line they replace a mention of bill cosby with... gnomeo and juliet? i think? which is not only a baffling decision that they don't, but is technically introducing an anachronism because that movie didn't come out until 2011. the writing they used to replace things in general just doesn't feel very homestuck-y, and it always feels clunky and awkward.

yes, i love mde. yes, its my favorite of the mafia trilogy. yes, i can say with 100% conviction that objectively… tommy is not an interesting character. for him to be the protagonist, he sure does have no depth to his character written in the game

Can I just say for all the people saying Belos ‘deserves a pathetic death’ and alike, I agree but it’s not about the death itself. He didn’t suffer, he died thinking he was right and trying to continue his manipulation, trying to start all over again. I think for his death to be truly satisfying he needed to remember, he needed to be plagued with visions of the past and the consequences of his actions, how they have amounted to nothing and destroyed his body and his mind in the process. I wanted him to realise, and this could have happened AND them leaving him to die in the rain and stomping on his skull. I understand most people watching the owl house aren’t looking for signs Belos is completing the hubris, harmatia, peripeteia, anagnorisis timeline of tragedy like I was because I keep thinking abt him through the lense of my tragedy course lol but I really wish he had that anagnorisis, that moment of realisation. I just wish he didn’t die thinking he could be martyred in any way for his efforts and death for his cause hmm
