Most of these characters have been assigned DC roles based on their personalities, regardless of gender (except for Superboy and Bizarro since they're clones of Superman so have to be the same gender as him)! I included some Rogues, League of Assassins, Outlaws, Teen Titans and Justice Leaguers because the Batfam interact with them a lot.

In my mind, Kyoko Kirigiri is together with Makoto Naegi and has been for the long term but her as the Bat and Celestia Ludenberg as Catwoman share some flirtatious banter.

Hajime Hinata as Robin 2 died and came back, and when he did he came back different. How much you want to lean into Jason Todd's backstory or Hajime Hinata's and whether you want to include Izuru Kamukuru is up to you.

Kaito Momota may or may not have had an unsuccessful romantic relationship with Shuichi when he was Spoiler and Shuichi was Robin 3. This can be prior to Shuichi meeting Kokichi or Robin 3 and Stray could have had some playful banter going on during this time (this works because Shuichi actually dates civilian Kokichi, which could be after he and Kaito break up). Kaito could be with Maki now!

Yes, this character assignment does mean that Masaru Daimon is Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu's best friend. Yes, that is hilarious.

I was running out of DR characters near the end so I started swapping some around to find suitable Justice Leaguers. Masaru was originally Captain Marvel but then that only left Kotoko Utsugi as an option for Superboy 2 and I thought Fuyuhiko would hate her. So, Masaru became Superboy 2 and Nagisa Shingetsu Captain Marvel. Byakuya Togami was originally assigned as Lucius Fox, the manager of WE, but I had to swap him to Green Arrow because he was just too perfect for that!

ZORO'S BIRTHDAY HAVE A FICLET WEEEEE

Zoro never thought much of his birthday. It was just like any other day, really, simply marking a passage of time. What did that matter when there were so many other moments that had truly changed him?

He remembered the day he met Luffy. His crazy captain turned his entire world upside down and only asked that he stay by his side in return. It started his closest friendship since Kuina. He remembered her passing, too. Two thousand and one losses followed by the biggest loss of all. He picked up both of their dreams that day and held them close in his chest ever since.

Zoro also had each day his nakama joined the crew committed to memory. The day the cook joined had the double honor of also being the day he first challenged Mihawk. He gained his largest scar, an indispensable partner, and a renewed vigor towards his life goal in one swoop. Honestly, if there were any anniversary worth celebrating, that might be it. Though the day he finally admitted his feelings to the cook would be a fair contender.

They had been arguing, then teasing, then sparring, and then finally recovering from their tussle, collapsed on the empty deck while the rest of the crew slept. It was almost funny how they had fought as quietly as possible in those sleepy pre-dawn hours, drawn together by the challenge and their unique magnetism. The sun took its time crawling over the horizon, slowly warming the grass and casting long, merging shadows behind them.

Zoro had taken the opportunity to watch the dawn kiss Sanji's skin, warming it golden-bright as the breeze trailed across his hair. The sparkle of easy waves paled in comparison to the light reflecting in his blue eye. Zoro felt an uncommon peace take over his body, inhaling the salty air, he exhaled everything that had clicked into place. “I hope I get to sit in the sun like this every day.”

Sanji smiled next to him, pulling his leg up to rest his chin on his knee. He held it in a relaxed hug, turning to offer the swordsman a wide smile so rarely directed his way. “Careful tough guy, that's a pretty romantic thing to–”

“With you.”

Sanji blinked. He opened his mouth, closed it. He blinked again. Zoro felt his face heat at the wide-eyed look but he refused to take it back. Huffing to cover his embarrassment, he turned to look back at the colors dancing over the horizon. He felt Sanji's heavy gaze slide off of him and their cozy companionship returned with surprising ease. The sun felt especially warm.

The cook eventually left their quiet morning to start breakfast and the smell of coffee lured the crew out of their bunks before long. Nami commented on him being up early, but Zoro brushed it off with a grunt as he followed her into the galley. He sat down and waited for his plate, wondering if the cook would say something.

Zoro fell into a small doze, lulled by the sounds of cooking and Nami going over her plans for the next island on the way. A plate landed in front of him with a short, “Eat up, musclehead.” Zoro opened his eyes and fought the broad grin that threatened to take over his face.

Sanji had made omurice, one of his favorite breakfast foods, smelling strongly of pearly white rice, sesame, and perfectly folded eggs. Sitting on top of the omelet was a silly little ketchup drawing of a sunrise. It was little more than a half circle with squiggly little rays coming out of it, but Zoro thought it was charmingly perfect. He glanced back up in time to see Sanji turn around, only the redness of his ears giving him away.

He quickly shoveled the eggs into his mouth before Nami could tune in and ask questions. As he ate, he resolved to corner the cook after breakfast. He had a feeling their conversation could be the start of something monumental.

So what was a simple birthday in the face of that? Just another day, nothing special.

And yet as Zoro woke from his midday nap, nestled among the mikan trees, he felt his chest fill with some warm emotion. Chopper had taken up residence on his stomach, snoring lightly as he rose and fell with Zoro's breaths. Luffy was sprawled across his legs, mouth open wide and drooling while his own feet were propped up on an unconscious Usopp.

Turning to his left, he spotted Nami reclined against the tree next to him, head tilted back into the mottled sunshine. Robin as well was reclined against Franky, a book propped open in her lap as she rubbed a hand across his fuzzy scalp. He was also passed out and drooling into the grass. Zoro could vaguely hear a deep rumble that announced Jinbei slumbering nearby along with Brook’s violin accompaniment.

A snuffle on his right announced the last figure tucked under his arm, a leg slung over his hips and just barely missing Luffy’s ribs. Sanji’s face was close, nuzzled into his shoulder. His eyes were closed, his breathing soft and even as he took a rare reprieve from his work in the galley.

Zoro couldn't help but smile. His crew was all piled around him, snoozing away under the mikan trees. Above him, he thought he heard Brook’s melody turn suspiciously to a birthday song. His thoughts were interrupted when he felt a familiar kiss hit the underside of his jaw, catching him in his quiet joy.

“Happy birthday, marimo,” Sanji whispered before he settled back down with a contended sigh. “Dinner will be ready in a half hour. Go back to sleep.”

Zoro complied with a quiet hum, closing his eyes once more. As he lay on the Sunny’s deck, surrounded by his nakama and warmed by the sun, Zoro couldn't help but think today was something worth celebrating after all.

Patterns in Leg Expression over the Danganronpa Trilogy

Wait, I know this is a weird title, but please bear with me for some time. **Spoilers for sprites AND death order for all three games

I'm going to be defining "leg expression" as different leg movements in sprites. Dr1, has by far, the highest amount of different leg movements, while V3 has the least amount of various leg movements. Dr2 is in the middle, with certain characters.

Danganronpa 1: Trigger Happy Havoc:

Example: The Gothic Princess

I chose Celeste because of her expressive head sprites (plus being my favorite DR character...shhhh). Overall, Celeste has three varied leg sprites. The bottom two mainly show up during her trial and during her breakdown, so it makes sense to see these different leg movements. On the other hand, calmer characters like Chihiro don't have any "new" leg sprites besides their standard. However, the general trend of characters in DR1 tends to be multiple leg expressions for each character. It's still a common occurrence - especially if they tend to show a wide range of emotions. In general, in DR1, there were more 3/4 body sprites where that turn their back on you (Sakura, Kyoko, I'm looking at you)

Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

Example: The Glorious Bastard of Danganronpa

Nagito is one of the most expressive characters in DR2, but most of his sprites involve only small positional changes with his legs. Even characters such as Ibuki and Gudhum tend to have 1 or no different leg expressions. After going through the DR2 cast's legs (what a weird sentence to say..), a common occurrence was in mirroring the legs. However, compared to Dr1, the leg variation has slightly gone down. Of note, Kazuichi has some good variation, while Mikan has two versions of her leg that are distinctly different! Sonia also surprisingly has some really good leg variation!

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony

Example: The Junko Kinnie

Danganronpa V3 has the least amount of leg movement by far. Very vivid characters who tend to be very expressive (Kokichi, Angie, Tenko, Miu, Korekiyo, Maki, Kaito) don't get ANY new leg movements. Tsumugi has the most by far with three distinct leg movements while another character might maybe have a second version. Compared to Dr2, a lot more mirroring of the legs happens in V3 - and definitely compared to Dr1. For V3 in particular, so many of the characters are so much more vivid and eccentric that maybe more of the budget could have been spent on their top halves - this would lead the legs to not be changed as frequently between sprites.

Conclusion

This isn't a perfect analysis with perfect statistical analysis! But it was so much fun to go through the sprites of such a huge cast.

Hajime: a good little boy. Aw he's holding a rose how sweet! Better be careful not to spill on that white tux (actually it's kinda cream.... meh....). Love that he has a green shirt it rly is his colour. 10/10 because he's my boy. (Outfit is like ... 6/10)

Nagito: very stylish! Oh I love the little ponytail so cute. Your bowtie is a little crooked honey get someone to fix that. 9/10 for bowtie embarrassment

Gundham: ..... it's a step down from his usual look tbh LMAO like it's nice but he always dresses so extravagant it's kind of anticlimactic! Purple and red, bleh. 6/10

Souda: ok he looks like a mad scientist but I kinda love it. Aposematic baby, look at him wearing glasses too! Character development! Wearing sneakers to a fancy party tho. Aw hes a little punk I cant be mad at it 7/10 +1 point for wearing something I'd love to wear myself

Impostor: look at this magnificent fucker. Idk about the suit on it's own I'm not a fan of navy blue but that COAT. The confidence. 8/10

Teru: I get the feeling its supposed to invoke ice cream or frosting thoughts but it just looks like he was splashed by a car. Cute hat but not cute enough. 3/10

Nekomaru: Double breasted jacket kinda giving off the General vibes he had as a despair, love the open shirt, but that's really not his colour. 5/10

Fuyuhiko: my baby boy you look like a little fucking grandpa. Are those pants from when you were 5??? Why olive. 5/10 wait I just realized this is the perfect height chart right?? Oh my god hes so small hes literally underneath Nekomaru's breast bone

Akane: AMAZING SHOWSTOPPING ETC ETC take it home Akane you win. So classy look at her. 10/10 + another 10 i wanna draw her.

Chiaki: cute! Kinda giving 13-year-old school dance tho? Mmm not much to say but it's not bad 6/10

Sonia: very glam! Love the hair decor good motion in the flow of the dress details, kind of mermaidy. Maybe a little too extravagant for my tastes. 8/10

Hiyoko: ok kinda adorable. Sweet colour scheme and nice silhouette. 7/10

Mahiru: actually really good! I thought shed be wearing something more plain but she dressed REAL nice. The accessories look great. 9/10

Mikan: ... sweetie who made you wear this. Did you wear this yourself. OH I thought the hat was like a pig face... not as bad now but still.... 3/10

ibuki: there is a LOT going on but tbh props to sticking to her brand and colours. Bi rights! 5/10 +1 for authenticity

Teruteru is practically perfect, believe it or not. You’ll find out that the worst thing about him though is his lack of honesty, since he does not like you worrying about him he never tells you his troubles.

Mahiru is also pretty much perfect cuz I’m biased and she’s my wife. However, she tends to be a bit of a mom. This can be a good thing, but also a bad thing. She nags you way more than moms normally do, way past the point of annoyance. She tries not to be too much, but it can surprisingly be overwhelming how much she nags you to do things. This is only a problem though if you’re the forgetful or lazy type.

Peko is always busy. She wants to keep you safe, but she also wants to keep her young master safe. As a result, she stays away from you in hopes enemies will be less likely to find you, and she can still protect fuyuhiko. She does this out of love, but it’s so much time away from her.

Ibuki is pretty much perfect as well lol. The worst thing I can say about her is that she tends to wake you up at ungodly hours because of her music, or just because she was looking at something and laughed lol. She doesn’t rlly have much regard for your sleep unless you really need it.

Hiyoko tends to be mean, which you know. However, she has no regard for who she’s mean to, she’s mean to your friends and even to some of your family members. She respects your parents at least, but cousins, siblings, etc are not respected the same way and that can be upsetting.

Mikan is obsessive. She tries not to be, but she isn’t used to being in a relationship. She tells you to be please let her know if she’s being too much, because she’s all too aware she isn’t exactly normal about her adoration for you. But it’s just so hard to say something to her without feeling bad…

Nekomaru tries to force you into things a lot. If you’re the lazy type he tries to encourage you to workout a lot and the thought is nice but if you don’t want to do it he won’t stop until you agree. He’s doing it out of love but he’s way too pushy.

Gundham rarely opens up, he will but it’s rare. Sometimes it just feels like he doesn’t trust you. And he seems to like your physical affection, even vocal affection but seems to push away from it and reluctantly returns it. It may feel like he doesn’t like you back at times, but he’s just extremely shy.

Nagitos self loathing. Trying to help him through it is not only a struggle it is exhausting and even draining to deal with at times due to the negativity and how constant it is. He’s aware of it too, which only makes it worse.

Chiaki seems more invested in video games than you at times, she doesn’t mean it she is just autistic and her special interest is video games lol. It’s hard to realize at times though since video games are most of your conversations, it’s hard to think she’s interested in you.

Akane is always getting herself hurt and it just feels like you’re constantly looking after her and making sure she’s not getting into trouble. You’re supposed to be her s/o not her babysitter.

Sonia can make you jealous without realizing it. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem in itself but it’s so constant. Between her obliviousness to souda and how much she compliments gundham it’s hard to believe she even likes you at times or cares about how you feel.

Souda is a bit of a .. perv… too much at times. We know how creepy he was around sonia so .. yeah. Not the best feature to have all things considered but you love him for him. He’s just a big creep.

Fuyuhiko has bad connections for obvious reasons lol, it makes you more in danger. While you’re willing to make that sacrifice to be with him, it’s terrifying some nights knowing fuyuhiko may have to wake you up and force you outta the house because some guys are onto you.

Hajime isn’t as bad as nagito in terms of self loathing, but you’ll find his worst trait is also that. It can be exhausting at times but he does try to find some positivity in his life so it isn’t as bad.

+ xiao is known for his title as a yaksha and an adeptus, in other words — he has what most would call a big reputation in liyue. his is painted as noble and heroic, whereas yours paints you as someone soaked in drama, all because of media. if you were to be with him, your relationship would certainly make it into conversations, which is something you don’t want. you want to be his first string — his lover, not some other ex to be laughed off because of your past relationships or a one night stand. what you don’t know, however, is that xiao couldn’t care less of what is said about you. he wants to be yours as much as you want to be his. he’s not as perfect as you paint him, he’s got karma surrounding him and past regrets that make him dissatisfied with many aspects of himself, but he knows that you would love him regardless of his flaws as he would love you regardless of yours. he would only believe the truth from your red lips, not the rumors surrounding you.

+ albedo wasn’t one to care or easily worried when it came to other people’s opinions. if people wanted to speak ill of him and his choices, then that was their lives they were wasting, not his. however you wanted secrecy for the beginning, as you were recovering from heartbreak and just overwhelmed with being spoken of in such a foul manner. albedo understood this and respected your wishes, as he didn’t mind secrecy either. but eventually the relationship did come to light. there were supporters, encouraging the relationship while wishing you both well. but of course, there were also those who wished badly upon you being together, which at times, created obstacles for the both of you. at times it made it difficult to breathe and fight through it all. ending it almost felt like the only way out. but albedo wouldn’t throw away something so dear to him. as he would stay until the room burned, holding you as the water rushes in, if he could dance with you again.

+ scaramouche has a history that followed whatever path he walked, whether it had been erased, rewritten, or not. people knew to steer away from his direction, yet that gravitated you. now you weren’t a bad apple, but you weren’t an angel either. the people surrounding you had painted you in a light that wasn’t so bright, and shone through all the wrong aspects of yourself. however the same could be said about scaramouche. some boys tried too hard to get with you in the past, but he didn’t try at all to get your attention. being ignored was almost frustrating, yet enticing — it made you want to play this game of getting him to notice and fall for you. the boy would cave eventually like the rest did, you knew that for a fact. and if the former harbinger knew the dreams you had in the middle of the night about him, if he saw the things you both did — he would come sprinting. although, you would take your time, because you knew you were going to be with him.

I have been writing for femslash February and oohhh boy do I have Mikan/Komaru on the mind from what I wrote about them. Like, in normal DR canon timeline these two would probably never meet or if they would, wouldn't interact a lot or think of each other much, but if you take in account Another Episodes Bad Ending, suddenly they have the potential to have a wonderful toxic yuri love story. Like... what does Mikan think of this girl who's taken her beloveds place? There's so many ways for it to go, especially depending on how Komaru reacts to the whole thing. Does Mikan take the idea that Komaru could replace Junko to be an insult? Like, how dare you say you could be on her level? Or perhaps even more horrifying is the idea that she'd embrace it! Only calling Komaru "Junko-chan," and getting violently upset whenever it's pointed out she's not. Forcing Komaru to conform to her image of Junko (made more confusing if Komaru is in contact with other people who knew Junko, and those people contradict what Mikan says, leading her to always chase the idea of Junko but never know what it means, torn between contrary images of it). Komaru is in a very volatile and vulnerable state in the bad ending - she just made herself the enemy of the world, so even if she didn't want to become Junko the Second, she's in a position where no one would believe that anymore. She would be treated just as a remnant would be, or perhaps even worse... She has limited people she can count on, because the only people willing to be her allies would be the remnants of despair, Monaka, and Touko/Syo depending on how it all goes down. Plus the adults she "saved", but they would also radicalized her if they could. It's the perfect circumstances to recruit and influence her as a remnant of despair such as Mikan - she could even honestly say she had nothing to do with the entire Towa situation, and if she supported Komaru enough, Komaru could come to depend on her as one of the only people who are willing to ally with her and also didn't have any part to place in her previous suffering. It sounds like a dream come true for Mikan, too! A Junko Enoshima who not only forgive her, but *needs* and *depends* on her like a patient would. There is potential there for a toxic yuri tragedy. Plus, I just would love to see more stuff exploring Another Episodes bad ending and how the remnants would react to it.

For a more wholesome idea, if Komaru is captured along with the remnants post-bad ending and ends up in SDR2 in the NWP with them, Mikan and Komaru could also meet then (or remeet depending of how things went pre-nwp) and fall in love. Of course, I imagine that would also fall apart at chapter 3, so maybe these two are destined to be a tragedy, but still.

Oh my god. The concept of Mikan manipulating Komaru the way Junko manipulated her...incredible. Bad End Komaru really is an underappreciated gift in sheer narrative juiciness, and I LOVE this take on it. Who else loves you as much A the person who comes to you in your time of need? Enough to accept you despite what you've done? Enough to kill for you?
