do you have any advice for people looking to get into running but are extremely out of shape and overweight? like best ways you think to start slow without hurting yourself and build on it

Hi! Every time I get an ask from someone wanting to get into running it makes my day 100x better thank you sooo much for asking ❤️

I don't know what your definition of "extremely out of shape" is, but if you currently can't handle running for an extended period of time, work your way up with long walks, or walk + run intervals, until you can handle 30+ mins of continuous exercise. GET RUNNING SHOES FOR THAT ALSO. Your body will thank you.

My general beginner running tips post applies + I really recommend paying extra attention to joint care. Running is an extremely high-impact activity — you're slamming your entire weight on the ground 100+ times a minute, and the greater your weight the bigger the strain. I can't stress enough the importance of keeping your runs shorts at first and listening to your body (15 mins 3/4 x week is already a lot!) but generally, strengthening your lower body goes a long way towards healthy knee joints.

Strength: I've already recommended Jay Johnson's Strenght & Mobility routine, but if you're feeling fancy I'd also suggest working your way up to weighted squats, lunges, and romanian deadlifts (2-3 sets, 6-8 reps, using whatever you've got around the house that can serve as a weight). As I said in the og post, I can't recommend enough looking into core activation, which will help a lot if you have breasts that bounce when you run. Big boobs back pain is real.

Chafing prevention: this can be a bitch, unfortunately. Jiggly bits (inner thighs, skin folds, breasts) can chafe a lot, and if possible get leggings / shorts / bras with as few seams as possible and anti-glide gel — if you have declathon in your country, their anti-chafe cream is good and pretty cheap. If you have never heard of declathon, you're probably in the US and I know there are good brands over there also. (This part is unfortunately born out of anecdotal evidence, i.e. my dad, who went on a 10km jog and then couldn't walk for like a week. Chafing is the crotch killer)

Stretching! I'm a hypocrite and don't stretch nearly as much as I should, but don't be like me. Some stretching tips from sports physiologist / very Fast Guy Pete Pfitzinger under the cut.

THAT'S BECAUSE IT WAS TWO A.M. AND I SPELLED IT WRONG (ahem) thank you for your diligence. Kano JURGEN, WITH A J, is the protagonist of the webcomic Kagerou, which heads up I'm about to spoil some of the fun of reading to sell you on it. Kano is a psychic who among other things can see dead people and relive their memories who also has a diverse cornucopia of neurodivergence and trauma and CANNOT tell these things apart from each other. Because he cannot control the medium shit whatsoever when canon starts, his brain has just been a vacuum for traumatized ghosts. They just get shlooped into his mindscape and set themselves up there. He's also a system (part of a system? phrasing struggles) who initially appears to have the "one of the personalities is a serial killer!" trope happening but surprise that is ALSO a ghost who stole Kano's face and figured out how to possess the body after Kano happened to see him die (cue spectral brain vacuum noise) and everybody else in the comparatively normal system fucking hates him. The ghosts of that guy's victims from life are also hanging out and also fucking hate him.

After a lifetime of struggling over whether to be reasonable and accept that he's hallucinating enormous amounts of his life experiences or maintain that his brain isn't that creative, Kano's just-barely-holding-shit-together coping mechanisms are all thrown out of whack when his ass gets isekaied into a fantasy world, handed a magic sword, and informed that a captured princess summoned him to be a goddess's chosen one and save the world. I'm sure you won't be surprised at this point that this premise is ALSO intensely reconstructive in various layers of ways I don't have time to get into.

Based on this description what year do you think the author came up with and started working on it? WRONG: mid 90's.

So we've heard about your horrorswap, but what about horrorfell? 👀

So at first I was like "Oh MAN you have definitely heard of my horrorfell" /silly /j but then I went in the tag to find links and wouldn't you know it. Most of the original stuff is SO old it's on my ancient writing blog! And some of it's a little outdated, so I shall instead go into the og idea, link the new idea, and possibly add or correct some stuff! But fair warning, I'm very sleep deprived, so apologies if this gets a bit poorly worded aha

So, originally, things generally followed the same beats as HT, in that the 7th human left with the king's soul, Undyne took over, the core failed, and things went to hell in a hand basket.

However. There were also a lot of complications with things being Fell as opposed to Not Fell. Shortly after Undyne took the throne, a lot of infighting broke out. Thanks to the kill or be killed mindset that had been so instilled in them, and a significant amount of the population have LV, most of the monsters that weren't inclined to lose hope and simply fall down started lashing out.

Many felt betrayed by the human, many were simply tired of living this way and assumed Undyne wouldn't be any different than Asgore, many were just upset and needed somewhere to point their anger. But even before the core failed, tensions skyrocketed and it became rather difficult to get things back in any semblance of order.

As a matter of fact, they'd only started tapering back down when the core failed. Undyne had only just started getting her footing and the guard was exhausted trying to keep up with everything, so when news broke, things did not go well. Papyrus had to practically stay glued to Undyne's side to deter assassination attempts.

Now, the thing is, their core was never as "stable" as Tale-type AUs. So the underground wasn't wholly unused to the irregularity. That's a large part of their increased rate of natural disasters and food shortages after all. There were at least some failsafes and systems in place they actually handled it much better at first. But as things stretched out, and no progress could be made on restabilzing things, the anger and unrest flared...and then started dying out.

With fewer monsters even willing to try anymore, the systems in place started falling even shorter. Papyrus was spread so incredibly thin as more guards unofficially quit (stopped showing up) or Fell Down or were killed in some brawl. He was not in his right mind when he got the news Undyne had summoned Sans to the labs unexpectedly, and immediately hightailed it to Hotland.

A vicious fight broke out. Papyrus tore off Undyne's arm, Undyne smashed his skull in, it wasn't good! But thanks to Sans and Alphys, they both survived. The toll on their relationships, however, were irreparable. Especially given how badly Papyrus's wound disabled him.

Because of the severe magic deregulation from the famine, he couldn't heal properly. This was what ultimately pushed Sans to make the choices he made, but it could only do so much, and the mutations didn't help. One of the last pillars of stability in the underground, Papyrus was now barely himself the vast majority of the time. On top of everything else, the conditions everywhere worsening, Undyne's control over the underground nearly loose to the point of not existing, it became something of a gruesome Wild West situation.

Now, that was the original concept. I'd had another that I'm very fond of, but I honestly can decide which I prefer as "canon", and they're not too terribly dissimilar. The end result is the same. Broken trust, gaping wounds, and horrible decisions made in an effort to salvage what little remains.

Aside from the main tag (horrorfell), there's also a fair bit of tidbits and info all in Dusk's tag (hf dusk), but it is, of course, predominantly about him, and I'm sure I'm misremembering some of the older posts as being on This Blog when they Aren't Actually aha, but I'd always be happy to ramble more abt them if this didn't meet expectations!! Despite the Horrors (lol) I do love them. Especially Dusk, oh he makes me emotional...

just wanted to come in here and say I really like reading your posts! I don't know much about Marvel or Percy Jackson, but they're still really interesting to read, especially because you seem to enthusiastic about it all. hope you've had a lovely day!

@spiritbox713 Thank you for the response. I almost wish I'd gotten this response immediately, because your information would have been incredibly helpful. But I've already deleted all the anonymous asks, so I can't block him now that I've done that. And I'm not sure I'm ready to allow anon asks and allow him to stake a second offensive, so to speak.

And while I'm here, I'm going to turn this into a vent post all it's own here. I still feel bad that I haven't told my dad that I have this account. Because literally, I never originally intended to post here. But the button was there and I realized I could use it to share my ideas. From there it grew, to the point where it's 3-4 years later and I have 11,000 posts. And my dad knows about none of them. He knows I have an account, he doesn't know about the posting. And I don't know how he'd react. I don't want to break his trust or make him feel bad. My dad is the only person I have irl who I'm close to, and I'm very dependent on him. I'd feel bad admitting this. But I probably should. When nobody in my real life knows I have a blog where I've shared my first name, age and hinted at my location (if not outright said it once), that's probably a big problem. So, idk what to do.

I didn't even want to use this account for posting initially. I'd stop posting as frequently if I could browse tumblr without an account, even! But tumblr won't let me do that! So now I live on the dashboard being sedentary 95% of the time. I hate it! I wish I could browse anonymously sometimes!

I probably shouldn't keep venting here for now, so I'm going to end this here. But expect more vent posts soon, because I still have all this on my plate.
