Nontraditional Baneful Work (1)

For the hardcore crystal witch:

Specific harm

On a very sunny day, write on paper: "[Name Of Enemy] will [experience a great misfortune] before [date]" or similar, or use a sigil. Take a sphere of quartz, hold above the paper, and allow the sun to stream through it until the victim's name is scorched from the paper.

Harm in love

Write their name on a slip of paper. On another, write "your/their heart will not find love", similar, or use a sigil. Wrap in cloth or tinfoil with a piece of rose quartz. Unwrap to release.

(Even if you do not cleanse your crystals, I would recommend doing so after using them as described above)

For the elemental witch:

General harm

Create a vial of strong sun water, then "corrupt" with a pinch of pepper or a splash of red dye. On paper, write the name of your victim, and cast them into the vial. Shake vigorously to expedite.

Productivity-related harm

Cast a small item taken from your victim into a vial of ocean water. They now feel as if they are drowning in their responsibilities. Pour out to release.

There are always alternatives to the risk of pickpocketing items on and off of people, but this is a method I have always had success with.

For the nature witch:

Long-term harm

Healthy acorns sink in water, while rotten ones will float (most of the time). Take a floating acorn and and whisper to it its purpose. Sneak it into your victim's belongings and let it take root.

Bad luck

Paint the name of your victim in water on a maple leaf. Place the maple leaf under the candlestick of a black candle and let burn for as long as you like. Negative energy, including that of any standing hexes against you, will be captured and sent on to your victim, even if they are its originator.

Winter offerings in the forest. We're in for a dynamic mix of energies this weekend—no kidding. The standout force, heavy, intense, and assertive, is the ongoing Mercury Mars conjunction squared with Chiron throughout the entire weekend.

Dark Water in Folk Magic

Everyone is always talking about water in witchcraft and folk magic. I have never seen a post like this on Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Threads, Facebook -- anywhere. So I'm going to stand on my little milk crate and yap at y'all awhile about dark water and how I use it in my folk magic practice.

All important information provided below the cut.

***Trigger Warning and Content Warning(s): animal remains, roadkill, collection of animal remains/roadkill, harvesting animal by-products and parts, and the general weirdness and grossness of "vulture culture."***

***DARK WATER IS NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Please for the love of everything green and growing do not consume dark water under any circumstances. DO NOT use dark water to water edible plants/herbs or indoor plants/herbs. Do not feed dark water to pets or other people -- the latter being a crime and biological warfare.***

If you read this and try to Dead-Dove-Don't-Open me, I'm going to scream. I made the warnings bold and in red and yellow for heaven's sake. PLEASE do not read or interact with this post if it's not your vibe or if any of this content is triggering for you.

I'm not going to dress this up or try to romanticize this at all: folk magic is messy, it's weird, and it can get pretty gross. Folk magic -- and witchcraft in general -- are not for everyone. Because of that, I hope this post finds the people who will enjoy it, and use the information in their own practices. I'm not taking sole credit for this idea -- a majority of the human experience is all similar and hardly anyone has unique experiences anymore so someone before me has done this, I'm sure of it. Just because someone isn't talking about something doesn't mean it isn't happening.

What is "dark water"? & How do you make dark water?

It has kind of a deceptive name, I'll admit. And, no, I didn't just collect it during a dark moon. What I consider "dark water" is what happens when you leave roadkill or the remains of an animal (any kind) in a tub of water and let nature take its course. The animal will degrade and break down into the water. And part of what comes out of that tub to replace the water and keep the animal decomposing is what I call "dark water." It's essentially water infused and/or combined with the remains of an animal.

How to harvest dark water once the animal is decomposed

Depending on where the animal came from: whether it was roadkill on the side of the road and you brought it home, a stock animal of some kind, or a pet (hey, I'm not here to judge - just giving information), you're ALWAYS going to want to follow these steps if you want to harvest anything from animals. ***Don't touch dead shit with your bear hands! And definitely don't touch dead shit without washing your hands thoroughly for at least 2 minutes with hot soap and water.*** Fucking wear personal protective equipment: gloves (don't touch your face with them), eye protection of some kind, a sharp knife, a mask to cover your nose and mouth, and do this kinda shit outside where the fumes of a decomposing animal aren't going to suffocate you. (And sanitize the shit out of whatever you use afterwards with bleach and soap!!!) (1) Don't just jump into parting the animal out. Give the animal's spirit time to leave its body. Whether you help the spirit along with some Bible verses, a prayer, a ceremony, or you prefer to leave the animal alone to leave quietly is up to you and yours. (2) Ask the animal's permission. USE DIVINATION. Whatever you're most comfortable with and will be easiest for the animal to communicate through. Ask it if you can use some of its by-products after its spirit has left its body. If the animal says "no" and you do it anyway, there will be consequences to that choice. I'm not going to divulge what those are, because it depends entirely on the animal, the circumstance, your folklore of your area, and the history of the interactions those animals have had with people historically. You'll find out what I mean, if/when you choose to fuck around. (3) Be respectful of whatever you harvest. It's not a game and it's not a toy. Harvesting should be done in a respectful manner and there should be intent to honor the animal's spirit when it's done. (4) As long as chemicals like poison haven't been used in the death of the animal, be sure to take care of whatever you're going to use respectfully and safely. Bury it a few feet down at LEAST 10 FEET AWAY from ANY water source that PEOPLE interact with (drinking, showering, etc.). Or you can drive it out to somewhere remote and put it somewhere where the animal's remains will be used by another animal to continue the cycle. I've never done this, but there's always the choice to burn the rest of the remains you don't use. Just please don't leave the animal lying there. (5) Don't store your dark water ANYWHERE NEAR anything you grow, you eat, you bathe in. It should be out and away from your house in a sealed jar where it's safe from being tampered with.

What is dark water used for?

I use dark water for lots of different things: offerings to the forest spirits, offerings to NON-edible plants that I DON'T EAT OR PLAN ON USING ON MY PERSON.* I use it in baneful works, in protection, in warding. For me and my practice, it's got the same versatility as moon water or river water. Don't water your edible plants or plants you plan on consuming with dark water. That's how you get poisoned or poison someone else. Don't die in a stupid way, please.

What correspondences do you associate with dark water?

If you've been following my blog or interact with me at all on Discord, you know that I'm very heavily anti-universal correspondences. Spells and workings are much more potent when a little bit of problem-solving and craftsmanship without inane hand-holding went into the creation process. I don't get my correspondences from a book. I build relationships with the plants and animals around me, and then go from there. If the relationship doesn't yield the results I want (i.e. wisdom into what the spirit of that thing can offer, I'll do research then). That being said, since I'm the one talking about it right now, here's what I personally think corresponds with dark water: Rot, decomposition, energy transfer from one form to another, gateways, and passages during longer bouts of travel. If you've got a working that is being done over a longer period of time to someone else, this type of water comes in handy to make the working more potent the longer the working is. You can also use it in ward-style protections to make sure if someone messes with your shit, they get theirs. Sometimes the water will have the essence of whatever animal decomposed in it as well. Whatever you decide corresponds with it is up to you.

"Dead candles" were not the only ones with magical power; in fact any church candle, like other Christian ritual objects could be used for magical purposes, as is evident elsewhere in this book. For malefic magic they could be placed upside down and a memorial prayer offered for the victim (a variety of cursing by inversion of a Christian practice)."

Poppet Retribution Magick: Unleashing A Bellyful of Misfortune To Bring Financial Ruin

Reader’s Notes: This working was originally constructed for a friend who wanted retribution against their father who abandoned and neglected them during childhood. They opted to hit their father where it would hurt him the most... his pockets... by any means necessary! We decided to go with a less intense sickness working and a working that reflected the weight of my friend's pain and sadness they have carried over the years. Also, if baneful, retribution or justice magick isn’t your jam…just quietly scroll on!! As always, feel free to take what resonates and leave the rest!

I did this working in alignment with the Solar Eclipse for more energy.

Please use safety as always with any working. This working uses fire, a sharp knife, and spicy pepper flakes.

Lastly, I am a "Words" witch... I love words of power (Mercury in my 10th house). You can always opt for no-words or you can record the sayings beforehand and play them on repeat at that step that requires that saying so that you can focus on the actions and energy.

When a father walks out on his family, it can feel like the ultimate betrayal. The pain and trauma caused by his abandonment can have lasting effects on everyone involved. But for those who believe in the powers of witchcraft, there may be a way to not only cope with the misfortune of a father's abandonment but also to seek justice for his greed and neglect. This is where witchcraft comes in.

Ingredients:

Mix all the ingredients from the 1st group in a bowl (except the roaches, snakeskin, and thorns) before stuffing. Be aware that the pepper flakes can and will burn your eyes, possibly your skin, and make your nose run.

Thorns – cursing & hexing, pain, discomfort

Stones – pain & discomfort.. I went with 9

Spiderwebs – ensnaring, halting, binding

Ash – suffocation

Wormwood – strife & misfortune

Stagnant Water – rut, stagnate, failed plans

Snakeskin – inhibits growth

Helter Skelter/Cursing Oil – destruction

Dead/Rotting Roaches – causes hardship, strife, infestation of sickness

Poppy Seed – confusion

Mustard Seed -disruption, prevent help

Hot Pepper/Red Pepper Flakes – accelerates, burns

Boneset – cursing

Apple of Peru/Shoo-Fly Plant – Reversing Wealth & Money

1 Poppet - I sewed a picture of "Father's" face to it... thanks FB! When making your poppet, make sure you place a piece of paper with the target's name and DOB inside beforehand.

1 Needle with Red String

Poppet Stuffing - In folk magick stuffing was quite literally anything that could be used. I choose polyfill... however, feel free to use whatever you like.

Black Cord or String - Binding

Optional: 1 Plant or Something "Alive" to Tether To

Optional: Pictures, Taglocks, Sigils, Petitions - You need at least a full name and date of birth.

Optional: Orange Candles and Road-Opener Oil - To be done beforehand to remove any protections and help with the working hitting harder.

Steps:

Activate the Poppet: “Poppet, I name you _. Your limbs are their limbs. Your flesh is their flesh. Your life is their life. As you suffer, so shall they suffer.”

Then thinking about the life force within... take a deep breath and blow life into the poppet. Think breathing for CPR.

The next step I did was a road opener & path-clearing. I used 5 candles to represent the elements, roads, and planes. Each candle had "Father's" name written on it and then anointed with a road opener oil. You can use whatever method of road opener you want here.

Once the road opener finished I then tethered the poppet to a plant. I did this by tying a vine from the plant to the poppet's arm and energetically tethered them together. Just remember to choose a plant or something that is easily taken care of after.

Tethered to this plant, my work shall be

Bound by nature's energy, I decree

All blow back shall fall upon the tether

For this spell, my power shall weather

With hands held high, I cast my charm

As the plant's roots dig deep, my magic is armed

From earth to sky, the tether extends

My working and this plant, now forever blend

The energy flows, from me to thee

As this plant, my spell's vessel be

Each leaf, each stem, a conduit of power

Growing stronger with each passing hour

No force of nature can break this bond

For my magic and this plant, forever correspond

Then taking the craft knife cut the poppet's belly open. You will have to more than likely remove some stuffing to make some room for your stuffing. Stuff the poppet with your bowl mixture, stones, dead roaches, snakeskin, thorns, sigils, and what-not.

Swallow your greed with a belly full of stones

For it will bring you nothing but a life full of moans

Chasing after wealth, blind to the harm

Leaves you with a bitter taste, like a snake's charm

Choke on the lies you told yourself

That money and power were the only true wealth

But as you suffocate, reality sets in

Your failure and greed, now it's time to begin

Financial ruin, your once thriving business now failed

Your ego and pride, too great to be bailed

You mistreated your (daughter/son/Pronoun), a soul so pure

Abandoning & neglecting (pronoun), now it's your time to endure

So, Swallow your greed, let it be consumed With each stone, let your finances be doomed.

Then take the needle and thread and sew the belly closed. Once finished, take a red candle and seal the stitches.

Then take your black cord and bind the poppet. I chose to bind "Father" in a pentagram/elemental binding. The binding is started by being tied off at the neck, then the cord is wrapped around the left leg, then the right arm, then the left arm, then the right leg, and then back up to the neck. You can wrap this as many times as you like and you can certainly just bind your poppet however you like.

In the midst of chaos, in the midst of strife,

There lies a number, 5, that brings unexpected life.

It holds the power to shake things up, to make you lose control,

And in its grip, you are left to pay the ultimate toll.

Earth, air, fire, water, and the spirit within,

These 5 elements, a force to reckon and herein.

They bind you to this spell, a spell you cannot break,

And with each passing moment, your foundations start to shake.

The earth beneath your feet, solid and strong,

Yet when it quakes, you realize you were wrong.

The air you breathe, so vital to your existence,

But in a chaotic storm, it shows its true persistence.

Fire, the element of passion and desire,

But when it rages, it leaves you in dire.

Water, so calm and serene in its flow,

But in a flood, it can cause you to let go.

The spirit, the 5th element, unseen yet ever-present,

Once bound, then I untethered the plant and placed "Father" in a bucket of stagnant stormwater to drown in (this is symbolic of all the tears my friend has cried over the years) at the height of totality during the eclipse. I placed a cover over "Father" and there he will stay until the night of the full moon. Then I will take him out and bury him deep in the woods off my property to slowly rot.
